I don't know about you but the earthborns and the two factions of them that we meet in the books are vastly superior from the grounders and all of that shit like it makes sense them all being in the bunker and split because of reasons its been awhile
(I still want to kick Jason and KShum for saying he based them off of minions and buddhists and ADC I also want to kick for the bindi)
no absolutely because we actually go in depth into the earthborns & how they devolved into these factions, & it's actually compelling. we had the grounders for 6 seasons & knew absolutely fuck all about them or how they function beyond trikru at most.
sasha is an excellent way into just how the earth born function, as well as her discussions with wells highlighting even more of the dysfunctionality of the colony — aka why do they all speak english if it was supposed to be equal in who came onto the colony's stations.
jason & kshum can eat rocks, adc too for specifically recommending the heda symbol as a bindi. the fact her fans still defend her for this & the brownface is just so, ugh. i hate the way lexa / the grounders are handled & how these issues seem to be rampant in them.

ALERT: We’ve received several reports of the FBI visiting activists in response to their social media posts criticizing Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. We want you to #KnowYourRights if approached by federal law enforcement (🧵 thread)
The FBI’s discriminatory targeting of people who speak up for Palestinian rights on social media is an attempt to silence popular criticism of Israel. You have a right to speak up against genocide. You have a right to refuse to speak to FBI agents without an attorney present
Our partners at the @ADC have also documented a disturbing uptick FBI targeting and intimidation of Palestinians, Arabs and Muslims since October: We have received multiple calls today regarding Palestinian nationals detained by ICE, and/or visited by the FBI. The FBI has also visited multiple mosques today, in different states, as well as Arab inmates. This is a troubling trend.
#KnowYourDamnRights: Know your rights if you’re ever approached by law enforcement! Read this booklet by our partners at

having a brainot of Ling/any assassin being yandere 😋‼️ like they will force us to be their little healer, and will got mad if we heal anyone (yes the classic mlbb couple heroes)
HOHOHO❗❗❗THAT'S SOME QUALITY SHIT
❇ Ling gives you the cold shoulder, literally mf has no regrets. Mostly trys to keep it to himself but the fact that he's obsessive as fuck his jealousy and madness is as clear as daylight. Hmp's and tch's. Ignores you(trys to) whenever you try to talk to him or even come to him. Death glares at the person you ultimated, will threaten them when he finds them alone. Ling gets you into troubles occasionally then saves you in the most critical minute. He really be watching you suffer with a smirk.. He wants to show you that he's the one who's most worthy of your ultimate and attention. Plays the cold and charming prince. He doesn't give two fucks about whoever says something bad about him but will go apeshit if someone curses you out.
❇ I think you exactly know why I needed to include Gusion. He's obsessive, narcissistic, possessive and who's ego is too much for his ass to handle. He WON'T tolerate any excuses. You had to ult the exp laner cuz their HP was so little? It's their problem in the first place to get their own HP that low. Let them die. Adc fight and your adc required your ult? Unnecessary, absolutely unnecessary, a waste of your precious ultimate that he can make a good use of it. Let them die. Oh come on (Name)...he's not bad.., he's winning ?matches see? He's carrying you! You will win...only if you continue to stay by his side.
❇ Dyrroth and Aamon can also be added. Dyrroth would just straight up confront you after, after literally ultimating someone else one time. No that just won't do! You have to save your ult to him and only him! On the other hand Aamon is like Ling, the only difference is he'll tie you to himself, literally.

when STA and other accounts on here call us zionazis or compare israel to nazis, they are being fully antisemitic. here’s why:

here is a jewish org’s statement on the definition:

https://www.jewishfederations.org/fedworld/jewish-federations-460460
now, what are the criticisms of this definition? well, i already addressed them. pro islamist groups and sources like al jazeera all claim that it makes ANY AND ALL BASIC criticism of israel effectively “antisemitism.” this is a gross over-exaggeration.
so they are simply admitting that their criticism of israel is steeped in antisemitic judeophobic canards like “jews israel kills children.”

yes, a holocaust alliance is weaponizing antisemitism for the israel lobby to silence your comics of netanyahu eating babies and shit. is this organization arguing it should be acceptable to spew that propaganda? it should be fine for hamas to say death to the jews? it should be okay for jews to be beaten in the street for holding israeli flags? boycotts and such that target israel unfairly should be fine? lies that have been proven to be lies should continue to be allowed?
hmm. does this mean they are not dedicated to the truth being told?

i guess this is acceptable graffiti on a memorial for the tree of life synagogue shooting, in the ADC and al jazeera’s opinion.
so as you can see, the criticism of this definition is bullshit. it’s deflection—jew haters don’t want criticism themselves. they want to claim islamophobia when you say a thing about arab colonization and historical facts, but cry “the jews are weaponizing antisemitism!” when our HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE ALLIANCES AROUND THE WORLD tell them that calling israelis nazis is antisemitism.
so i’ll say it again: if you call us nazis, if you perpetuate blood and lust libel, you’re an antisemite. the end.

Hundreds of lawyers and legal organisations have signed an open letter calling on the US authorities to protect the rights of Americans to criticise Israel’s assault on Gaza. “Elected officials have irresponsibly accused protesters for Palestinian rights of antisemitism and support for terrorism, and called for the mobilization of law enforcement resources to police them, contributing to racist fear-mongering. This portends a dangerous reignition of ‘war on terror’ policies that led to extreme state repression and constitutional rights violations against Arab, Muslim and other communities of color,” the letter says. “The hundreds of incidents happening across the country signal a much broader effort to criminalize dissent, justify censorship and incite anti-Palestinian, anti-Arab and anti-Muslim harassment, doxing, and vigilantism against Palestinians and their allies.” On Friday, the US Senate unanimously passed a resolution condemning “anti-Israel, pro-Hamas student groups” after demonstrations on university campuses, some of which included antisemitic language and chants praising the Hamas attack. But many others have been in solidarity with Palestinian civilians under Israeli bombardment in Gaza. The ADC [American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee] condemned the resolution as a “blatant attempt to silence, demonize, and criminalize legitimate criticism and dissent surrounding Israel’s occupation and war on Gaza”. “By conflating criticism of Israel with support for Hamas and antisemitism, this resolution threatens the very fabric of freedom of speech in American institutions of higher learning,” it said. “This resolution is not only misleading but eerily reminiscent of the McCarthy-era and post-9/11 tactics designed to suppress differing opinions and stifle discourse.”

I'm so glad you like Kinger/Gangle! I agree that they would be very wholesome, and that Kinger would treat Gangle the same regardless of what mask she was wearing. And we saw how patient Gangle was with Kinger in the pilot, gently reminding him what they were doing, which just further adds to them being a wholesome ship.
I could see them just relaxing together, cuddling, and taking it in turns to ramble about things they like while the other listens intently. I think they would just be very sweet and gentle with each other, and it's so cute to think about!
Sorry for the little ramble, there's not many people who ship them, and I've seen some pretty nasty comments about the ship, so I don't often talk about it. But it's really nice to know that one of my favorite artists/writers really likes the ship too!
Yess all these things! Makes them cute. They're probably one of the only two in the pilot that are actually nice to each other to be honest. Maybe that's why I see them as sweet for each other.
It's so nice to hear you like my stuff too aww. Thank you. Since you mentioned writer, that probably means you've read that one ribboonnie fic of mine. Where now I will mention that there was intention when it came to the Kinger and Gangle scenes I wrote. Obviously that's a Jax/Gangle story but I slipped in some wholesome Kinger Gangle in there to feed my other wants. As for people being mean about them.. yeahh it's a shame! I think its valid to be critical of these problematics but folks tend to miss the point of it. Such as why an age difference between adults is problematic, and how that why doesn't apply to these two.
But also RagaJax is the second most popular pairing among ADC fans, and noone talk about the age gap there. (This is NOT me saying it should be deemed as problematic, just that it's kind of unfair this happens to one pairing but not another. )

Amazing Digital Circus Theory
Move over Film Theory, it is time for I, the amazing Goose of Oregon, to debut my first ever theory about something with my over the top analytical skills. (no hate towards Film Theory though. You guys are great!)
The Amazing Digital Circus is an in-universe TV show, with the main cast being trapped in it by the headsets they put on. And Jax is either a hacker hired to take it down from the inside, or hired by the ADC company to be the antagonist of the show.
To clear up the TV show theory, both Jax and Bubble (and arguably Caine) acknowledge people are watching the show. Jax points to the camera multiple times, sometimes even speaking directly to the audience, while Bubble (indirectly) acknowledges in episode 3 that kids watch this like a tv show. Yes, I know that's more of a reference to the real world, but it can swing both ways (just like me, if you catch my drift) also, they have a theme song, as seen in episode 1. Just like a kid's tv show!
Obviously Caine and Bubble are Ai assistants, higher level than a regular NPC. Meanwhile, NPCs act like monsters/sidekicks of the week, not having much motivation behind them, just being there to be there. The original main cast was also made up of AI bots, but that put the ADC company under fire from lawsuits and critics, cause let's be honest, generative AI sucks. The current main cast then unknowingly got transported into the Digital Circus by putting on those headsets, in a sort of Truman Show way.
Now for Jax
Jax has either one of two roles in this world. My first theory on him is that he's a hacker, hired by a rival company to take it down from the inside, trying to derail the show plots and get ratings down. Also be a bad role model for the children who are presumably watching the show. After a couple seasons of this, the show would be shut down, and the rest of the cast would either be released or killed.
The second theory about him is that Jax was hired by the ADC company to be an anagonist. The ADC company was under fire by critics for never having a consistent protagonist, like so many shows now adays, instead sticking to villains of the week like the Gloink queen, Gummigoo and his bandits (yes, I know he's not a villain from our viewpoint, but the show was setting him up to be a sort of sympathetic anti-villain), and The Fudge, to name, well, all of them.
Both of those theories about Jax explains why he has access to everybody's rooms, knows the camera placement, (Hacker abilities or admin access), and why he's such a dick to everybody.
Here's are the problems with this theory; Abstraction and the second part of Mildenhall Manor. We'll deal with the latter first.
The second part of Mildenhall Manor is what Pomni and Kinger went through, with the angel and hunter guy. My guess is that was meant to be either a subplot/plot B for the episode, while Ragatha, Jax, and Gangle where the main plot/plot A. (We got a view more heavily centered on Kinger and Pomni, of course.) Either that, or the show was punishing Zooble for not being compliant with what they want, or trying to help them (Zooble uses they/them prounouns, right?) feel more comfortable with the show. Probably the first one, but the second one could work.
Now for Abstraction. We all know what happens, so I'm not going over that. The question is, what happens to the IRL bodies after the ADC character abstracts? My guess is they go brain-dead and die, and the ADC company gets rid of them. I don't exactly know how they explain Abstraction in the show, but we'll have to just wait and see...

Oudinot jun. about Masséna and Ney in Portugal 1810
These are memoirs by (future general) Victor Oudinot, oldest son of Marshal Oudinot, who accompanied Masséna as aide de camp onto the third expedition into Portugal. I’ve only come across them by accident and found they have some really nice remarks on both the general-in-chief André Masséna and his reluctant subordinate Michel Ney. Among other things, Oudinot jun. says a bit about Masséna’s mistress who caused so much stir among the leading generals:
The Marshal rarely appeared before the troops at the time, and I sometimes took the liberty of pointing out to him that this was a source of grievance against him. "Don't you see," he replied, "how difficult it is to assemble soldiers who, in order to live, are obliged to go marauding all over the place? The sight, moreover, of the privations they suffer and which I am unable to alleviate, would break a soul which needs to remain focused and strong."
To me this does sound a lot like: They’re behaving badly, if I go to them I am obliged to notice that, while I cannot do a thing about it. So I do not go.
Malignity attributed this isolation to another cause. Thiers himself seems to allude to it when he says: "Masséna was indulged in his pleasures." The truth is that in accepting a mission to which he had to devote all his faculties, the Prince of Essling made the mistake of not controlling a penchant that another great captain, the Marshal of Saxony, found impossible to resist. In Portugal, Masséna was accompanied by a woman with whom he had an established relationship. She sometimes followed him on horseback, dressed as a man; moreover, her attitude was very restrained; and, for my part, I never exchanged a word with her, although I was treated by the marshal with paternal benevolence.
A footnote of the editors at this point gives the name of Masséna’s mistress as Henriette Leberton, née Rénique, sister of one of his ADCs and wife of a former subordinate staff officer, and points out that before dating Henriette, Masséna had already for a long time dated her older sister Eugénie, who worked as a dancer at the Paris opera. Seems it all stayed in the family.
Masséna combined an excellent heart with a lively and penetrating mind, from which sprang remarks that were as judicious as they were refined; his conversation was therefore very seductive, but few people enjoyed it in Portugal at the time. He usually had only official relations with the heads of departments. An enemy of pomp and pageantry, simple and even a little careless in his dress, considering expensive horses an unnecessary luxury, he left the command-in-chief without prestige. Malice took advantage of this: it had an ever-bubbling source at the Duke of Elchingen's headquarters.
This is not the first and surely not the last time during this campaign young Oudinot is very critical of the Duc d’Elchingen aka Michel Ney. However – at least that was my reaction on reading his memoirs – whenever there was a point when I wanted to be rightfully annoyed at Ney, Ney always did something either really heroic or really cute that totally blew away my anger. I wonder if Oudinot felt the same.
Like at the end of the campaign, when Ney’s open disobedience leaves Masséna only one choice if he wants to save his own authority: to remove Ney from his command. Masséna after his first defeat was apparently not ready to give up the fight just yet; he wanted to join forces with Soult (apparently ready to drag the latter into Portugal again if need be) and to return to Lisbon in order to challenge Wellington a second time.
Once Masséna's plans had been made public, they gave rise to violent opposition. Reynier, whose corps had been stationed in Extremadura, declared the region completely wrecked. Junot, still recovering from his wound and twice unfortunate in Portugal, did not disguise his reluctance for a third expedition. Ney's pride, above all, rebelled at the idea of remaining submissive to a colleague whose glorious past bothered him. He sent letters to the Prince of Essling containing criticisms and remonstrances unacceptable to the dignity of a commander. Finally, he ended them with a formal refusal to obey and a declaration that he was going to lead the 6th corps to Almeida. Exasperated, Masséna immediately resolved to strip the Duke of Elchingen of his command. Nevertheless, he wanted to give Ney one last chance to repent; he asked Ney in writing if he persisted irrevocably in refusing to accept the authority with which the Emperor had invested him. The response was no less violent than the previous ones. It was no longer possible to avoid the scandal. At 10 o'clock in the evening, the Prince immediately sent aides-de-camp to inform the generals of the 6th corps that Loison, the most senior divisional officer, was to be given exclusive command of this corps. Ney, no doubt thinking of my father, had always shown me a special kindness. This motive gave the general in chief the idea of entrusting me with the painful mission of announcing this decision to the Marshal. When I approached the Duke of Elchingen, he was lying on some straw. I handed him, bursting into tears, the dispatch addressed to him. After reading it quickly, he shook my hand convulsively and throwing his coat on the straw bed: "Sleep here for a few hours, Oudinot," he said. "Tonight I will give you my reply."
His instructions given, he lay down next to me, spread his coat over his bedmate (as he called me) and the next day, at 2 a.m., he charged me with the following letter: "The Emperor having entrusted me with the command of the 6th corps, His Majesty alone has the right to withdraw it from me. I therefore protest again against this new measure. However, if the division generals of the 6th corps obey you, I will go to Spain." Despite his confident countenance, the Duke of Elchingen could not conceal from himself the extent of his wrongdoing […]
And I wonder in how far that played a role in why he wanted to have a bedmate in that moment, after having realized that "oops, this time I really might have gone a little too far..."

A member of San Diego’s Human Relations Commission was forced to step down this week following a furious response to antisemitic comments he proffered at a meeting of the body on July 18, in which he claimed that the Torah instructs Jews to murder Palestinians.
The resignation of the commissioner, Khaliq Raufi, was announced on Wednesday by San Diego County Supervisor Joel Anderson in a scathing statement.
“Commissioner Raufi’s ignorant comments were hurtful and in no way reflect my personal views, but they do highlight the urgent need to focus on education, bridge building, and to advocate for tolerance,” said Anderson, who appointed Raufi to the 31 member commission. “After meeting with Commissioner Raufi, I have received his resignation letter.”
The city’s Human Relations Commission — which answers to the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, the county’s legislative branch — was established in May 2020 to “promote positive human relations, respect, and the integrity of every individual regardless of gender, religion, culture, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, or citizenship status.”
At the July 18 meeting, which was recorded, Raufi told those in attendance that he had read a few verses of the Book of Deuteronomy — the fifth and final book of the Torah — calling it the “Book of Jews.”
“It states, ‘go kill Palestinians — wipe them all out,'” Raufi claimed. “It’s a teaching that they, on a daily basis, teach their followers in their synagogues. So how are we gonna resolve that?”
At this juncture, Raufi was interrupted by an observer, Sara Brown, the San Diego regional director of the American Jewish Committee (AJC), who pointedly asked him, “are you serious right now?”
Brown later expressed her shock that only one of the assembled commissioners — Kate Clark, who works for Jewish Family Services — took Raufi to task for his remarks. “It was so unbelievably shocking in the moment — and even more shocking was the silence of every single commissioner and county staff,” she told the San Diego Union-Tribune.
An editorial in the same outlet quoted San Diego’s Mayor Todd Gloria’s statement that “hate has no place in San Diego and there will be consequences for those who spread it in our city.” It went on to argue: “The county Human Relations Commission, which needs better vetting and training, must take that to heart. Otherwise, what’s the point of it?”
Raufi delivered his speech during a debate concerning a controversy at the commission the previous month, in which another commissioner — George Khoury, a supporter of the Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) — denounced Israel as a “racist, fascist state” as he described how his Palestinian family fled from Jerusalem during the 1948 War of Independence.
In a June 20 letter to the commission following Khoury’s speech, local Jewish leaders noted: “Rather than speak about the importance of Arab American Heritage Month, an opportunity to further celebrate diversity in our San Diego community, Commissioner Khoury’s statement negated Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state, diminished the historical Jewish connection to the land, and depicted the creation of Israel as a war crime — language that goes beyond legitimate criticism of Israeli government policies.”

bsd characters and League of Legends Roles
How did I come up with this? I don't know. But it's been stuck in my head for a week now so it's getting evicted from my head to your fyp.
you're welcome. probably.
Armed Detective Agency
Atsushi Nakajima
def mains jungle. Specifically, Rengar.
just look at the man.
epitome of a rengar player.
he's def very imbalanced in his gameplay though.
he either goes 0/12 or 12/0. no inbetween.
but he's EXTREMELY talkative.
in all chat, team chat, it doesn't really matter, he's got something to say after every play. and its usually something nice.
"gj!", "nice", "(actually helpful criticism)" and always a "gg" at the end of the match.
does kinda get upset when teamed w/ people that don't know what theyre doing, esp in higher elo.
i also don't think he plays too much though, he's got better things to do with his time.
mid gold?
Osamu Dazai
either plays top or jungle.
plays top for the obvious jokes. plays jungle because its the hardest role to play.
I'd think he'd enjoy jungle more because it seems like a slightly more complex chess game to him than, yknow. nerdy league of legends.
He'd be really good at the game too, but i kinda get the feeling he'd throw games if he got matched with people he didn't like.
or people he just knew, in general. Like Kunikida? Dazai's gonna play the game with his actual feet.
because of that behavior, probably somewhere in gold? like he doesn't play very often but when he does he almost always wins when he's semi-serious abt it.
Kunikida Doppo
this guy. has either never heard of it, or was addicted at some point.
either way, he'd play adc. He just kinda seems like he'd play Jhin specifically. The added challenge of keeping track of autos and all the intricacies of the playing style is definitely appealing to him.
lowkey kinda pretenious w/ it? "oh i main Jhin, ik how to do x y z mechanic that no one cares knows about" . . like wtaf, put the wine glass down.
not that great at the game though. Mid silver to low gold.
definitely rages over the game from time to time. Hence why he doesn't play anymore. (i mean, we've all seen his interactions w/ Dazai.)
Ranpo Edogawa
mid lane.
look at this man and tell me he doesn't run a crazy ass mid lane.
I'm not sure what he'd main, but it's always off meta.
dude could run like . . nautilus? god forbid yuumi. and still win.
no counterarguments here, just look at him.
when he first started playing, he played meta but got bored after winning too many games so he switched to the most random picks.
i'd believe it if he chose the random option for champion select.
would play pretty frequently, at least compared to everyone else.
definitely in platinum.
Akiko Yosano
also adc, definitely loves to play Vayne.
anything hyper-carry honestly.
rarely plays though.
the game isn't super interesting to her but Ranpo asked her to play and so she picked it up for a little bit.
when she did play, she played somewhere in silver.
she didn't play enough games to get past silver but probably wouldve.
Kenji Miyazawa
support.
but one of the tanky ones.
occasionally he'll run pyke though? Like if the poor kid had a bad day, he's running pyke.
probably loves Braum.
but also probably hardly plays.
Like Yosano, he doesn't find the game too interesting, he'd rather be outside doing something.
also a silver player.
Junichirou Tanizaki
he's the stereotypical adc.
and i mean that in every. way. possible.
steal a minion? he's going afk.
can't save him from being dived under turret? prepare to get flamed.
he goes 0/6 in the first 15 minutes but somehow it's your fault? you just got doxxed.
his first couple of games are decent, and he's more likely to win those. But once he has a really good game where he carries, he'll get overconfident and never win again until he quits the game for the day.
high bronze, low silver
Kyouka Izumi
hear me out.
top lane.
specifically? Nasus.
hear me out again.
She just likes any character that scales really well tbh.
plays the slow game and wins every time.
doesn't like the game though, so she rarely plays it.
high silver.

this draft has been sitting in drafts for so long, im worried i've mischaracterized these guys lmao. but it was too funny and it made me giggle when i was looking through all my old work so i figured might as well post.

Hey! I’m on my like 5th rewatch of The 100 and I’ve only just now seen this review on IMDb. I’ve been following your blog for a while now and keeping up with ADC. I was wondering if you know anything about this? I tried looking it up but nothing popped up. Granted I didn’t search too hard lol. But I just thought these claims were so wild. Did they mix her up with another actor? I’m just so ??????
Lol no
Not even once 😂
I do remember after the accusations from Bob's ex came out you had a few accounts accusing E&B of diva behavior - including one in which it said that Bob got physical with a crew member and that was why he was ultimately written off - but emotions were high at the time so no one ever really knes if that was fact or just bs smearing. But Alycia? Nope, not once.
No tbh this whole thing reads very oddly to me because all I've ever heard is that she's quite pleasent to work with actually. First of all, Alycia didn't "start in Vancouver and switch to LA". She was LA based since she moved to the US. So idek what this person is trying for there, but it doesn't even make sense. Second, if this person has such a wealth of insider knowledge, then they'd know this wasn't her first project in North America. Two seconds of research would show that (they said they "found out" it was her first acting job, so according to their own words they looked into it??? And still got it wrong???) She'd done a several things before the1oo, including tv work in Australia, a whole ass studio produced movie, and an indie movie over here.
Third? I mean if you follow her, you see she is often in pics with crew members and even follows a few on IG, as well as fellow cast members talking pretty regularly about how sweet she is and about times when they hang out outside of filming. Also iirc when she was directing her her episode of FTWD didn't she even get a... was it shaved iced, or like a coconut water thing? Some kind of frozen treat stand thing, for the entire cast and crew.
That doesn't exactly sound like a tendency toward tyrant, diva behavior.
But truthfully, the thing that jumps out at me the most tho is the Zionist comment. This comment was supposedly left back in 2021, right? Except... Zionist was not a widely known or used term at that time. For clarity, I'm not saying Zionism or the term Zionist didn't exist in 2021, I'm saying it wasn't a term the general public at large really knew or used often, nor was it something that ever readily came up in any sort of criticisms of actors, much less IMDB reviews 🤨.
So like... how and why would that have even come up at that time of leaving this review? In 2021?
Unless, of course, this person went back and edited an old review they'd left. Now that would make a lot more sense. Almost as if maybe possibly perhaps, they became angry with her for something else, and came back and changed their review to a scathing bomb. It's just a theory, I have no way of knowing if that's true or not, but it makes a bit more sense considering I've never heard such a thing about her - not on the 1oo nor any other projects.
#grandma-juice#also the whole stitches thing... I'm like 89% this is a Bob stan#because iirc that was an accusation leveled against him#but I can't remember exactly#but it almost reads like someone copy/pasted allegations against him onto her page lol

Top 3 Tips to Balance Performance & Power Consumption in Embedded Application Development
In embedded systems development, achieving the right balance between performance and power efficiency is an ongoing challenge—especially when working with microcontrollers (MCUs) and low-resource hardware. The right software design decisions can dramatically extend battery life without compromising responsiveness or reliability.
Here are three actionable strategies every embedded engineer should consider to get the best of both worlds.
1. Build Smarter Software with Efficient Code
The foundation of energy-efficient embedded development begins with how your software is structured and optimized.
Here’s what helps:
Choose better algorithms: Replacing inefficient logic (like O(n²)) with more optimized versions (O(n log n)) reduces CPU cycles and energy use.
Go event-driven, not polling: Event-based logic allows your system to enter sleep modes rather than constantly checking for changes.
Cut down on memory operations: Repetitive dynamic memory allocation increases power draw. Keep it lean and predictable.
Use hardware accelerators: Leverage MCU features like DSPs or crypto engines to offload work and reduce CPU load.
Pro Tip: Use compiler flags like -Os for size and power optimization. Tools like EnergyTrace or ARM's Power Debugger can help you find energy-heavy hotspots in your code.
2. Leverage OS and Middleware Power-Saving Features
Your choice of OS and middleware isn’t just a performance decision—it’s an energy one too.
Here’s how to optimize it:
Pick a power-aware RTOS: Systems like Zephyr and FreeRTOS come with built-in low-power features.
Use MCU low-power modes: Utilize deep sleep, stop, or standby modes to lower consumption during idle times.
Optimize peripheral management: Disable or scale down unused modules like timers, ADCs, or communication interfaces.
Reduce wake-up frequency: Combine tasks and delay non-critical activities to avoid excessive interruptions.
Scale clock speeds dynamically: Lowering clock rates during low workload periods helps reduce energy consumption.
Pro Tip: Use vendor-specific tools like the ST Power Calculator or Nordic’s Power Profiler to fine-tune system settings based on actual workloads.
3. Profile, Analyze, and Keep Optimizing
Even perfectly written code can consume more power than expected without proper testing and profiling.
Here’s your checklist:
Continuously monitor energy usage: Real-time power monitoring highlights inefficiencies across code paths.
Test in real-world conditions: Optimize based on typical usage patterns, not just lab simulations or edge cases.
Refine iteratively: Small updates—like fine-tuning interrupts or reducing wake-ups—can lead to major gains.
Slow down (intelligently): Your application doesn’t need to run at max speed—just fast enough. Slower = more efficient, when done wisely.
Pro Tip: Use simulation tools like Renesas e² Studio Power Profiler to preview energy impacts of code changes before testing on physical hardware.
Final Thoughts
In embedded development, managing the trade-off between performance and energy consumption is critical. But with the right software architecture, OS features, and continuous optimization, it's absolutely achievable.
By making informed engineering decisions, you can build high-performance, power-efficient embedded applications that last longer, run cooler, and deliver better user experiences.

The critically acclaimed American Sniper (2014) is based on the real-story of Chris Kyle, a Navy SEAL sniper known for his record number of confirmed kills during the Iraq War. The film has been criticized for its one-dimensional depiction of the Middle-East, and that all the Arab characters (including women and children) are dangerous and involved with terrorist organizations. Shortly after the film's release, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) sent a letter to director Clint Eastwood, expressing concern that the movie has increased anti-Arab sentiments and reinforced harmful stereotypes. Similarly, London Has Fallen (2016) portrays Middle-Eastern terrorists as a monolithic threat, reducing an entire region to a violent caricature. The villainous Arab tropes are apparent in films like Iron Man (2008) and The Kingdom (2007). In the The Kingdom there is one more nuanced Middle-Eastern character named Colonel Al-Ghazi, however he needs the intervention of the FBI agents he works to actually prevent terrorist attacks.
