Part 1.

ep 1 x s8

- five 0 really do love introducing female characters in bikinis, or were they trying to make it even more obvious that tani is the new kono replacement?

- aww Danny asking Steve to be his partner in the whole restaurant thing is very sweet

- the torch is back again? Kinda thought his story was complete after the prison break with Adam, didn't he have this whole speech about being better of in prison?

- okay Steve worrying about tani being reckless and her not taking any of his shit and Danny being all "see, now you know how I feel all the time" is very funny

- oh so now you realize going into the middle of a raging wild fire was a bad idea, who would have thought?

- damn Danny is so used to Steve's bullshit he doesn't even fight it anymore

- they- he's taking the entire house? He's taking the entire house

- wow they're making it very very obvious that tani is supposed to be the new kono, okay

- omg so call me nuts but why does the whole restaurant thing feel like a weird metaphor for Steve and danny setteling down together? They talk like their gonna marry- I feel like I'm hallucinating

ep 2

- I may be a cat person but that is one cute dog- and he has such a nice owner and - oh no I know how this is gonna go

- nononono don't hurt the doggo! IS HE GONNA BE OKAY?!

- don't show me this fucking junior guy I need to know if the dog is okay!

- Steve what do you mean, you've never been married? You and danny have been basically married for at least 5 years now. And since when are you uncomfortable talking about Steve's feelings Danny?? what are you two talking about??

- yes finally someone goes looking for the poor puppy! Oh no the poor baby's hurt 🥺Tho I'm a little confused I thought Danny was the dog person? Why is Steve suddenly so invested and not danny? Did the powers that be forget the whole Mr. Pickles thing?

- people how am I supposed to care about the plot if I don't know if the dog is gonna make it!

- poor eddie is such a good boy, I would literally die for him 🥺 he's gonna be okay! oh thank goodness

Steve why you looking at Danny while saying that? Don't tell me the dog is supposed to be a parallel to him

- I swear the whole restaurant thing feels like Steve and danny planning their wedding-

- eyyyy bootleg James bond is back! And steve is talking about "our" retirement plan? Just make them an official married couple already!

- come on Harry, you don't gotta roast their restaurant idea like that especially after they agreed to let you tagalong

- I love how mcdanno exchange judging looks whenever Harry trys to sweet talk someone, true couple goals right there

- man the whole police-violence-played-for-laughs-thing especially against poc really didn't age well

- okay so 10 bucks harry's the secret bad guy

- eww no don't flirt with tani harry, that's just weird! I swear what is it with Hollywood and old men hitting on girls that aren't even half their age

- Damn Harry really just went and called Steve and danny out for for being in love and unable to live without each other and they didn't deny anything

- okay nvm Harry isn't the bad guy it's just some random dude who lost a kid, and apparently Harry lost someone important to him?

- naww they boys are cooking for them- aaand fighting - oh man, this could have been such a nice little gesture, why you gotta ruin it for a joke? I mean I know their probably just setting up the restaurant idea failing which- I'm kinda sad about because it could have been an actual nice retirement thing to end the show on somewhere down the line, but I guess not

ep 4

- I love how Lou talks to steve like he's making an investment without asking his husband (which let's be real he definitely is)

- the use of the term "partner" is becoming more and more ambiguous by the second

- rip toast he was a nice dude, at least before he became loaded

- naww not Steve being all smug about Danny calling Hawaii home

- no kamekona! don't hurt him🥺

- better call your son dude you don't fuck with Steve's family

- kamekona really did a fuck tone of good ever since he made it out of prison, it's really nice that he finally gets some recognition for that

- so junior is homeless? Really explains a lot of stuff about why he's so desperate to be five 0

-aww and steve adopts him right away and tani too, the man really does collect strays like Pokémon

ep 5

- aw grace brought Steve a pumpkin for Halloween? guess she's growing up to be a Halloween lover just like her dad

- so 10 min in and already Alicia triggered Steve's mommy-issues

-Alicia honey, Steve has like five adopted children already and is a pretty intense dude maybe it be good to have someone else take care of your deeply traumatized daughter if this doesn't go well?

- tani:"so there's this hot demi-god"

"top or bottom?" Danny asking the important question

- love me some good folklore inspired murders

- so the clay maxwell thing still isn't over? poor Lou hasn't the guy has put him through enough?

- I love that their bringing eddie along everywhere now, he's the best new addition to the team <3

- so love that Danny is also along for them search of the killer but isn't that kind of a bad idea with his busted arm?

So, Danny...

Sexuality Headcanon:

The same as Steve's. Ever since I watched the show I see them both as "not hetero, not gay, not bi but the secret X thing" 😉

At the begining I felt they're aromantic (and forced so much by the show writers to woo/date/marry ladies) and I still feel they're definitely platonic when they interact with other people. But to each other - they're super romantic.

They're best friends and they're the special ones to each other. They feel (real) attraction/love only to each other. So I headcanon both Danny and Steve as definitely uniromantic and The Pilot is a very special episode to me cause the scene in the garage is like kind of "Geez, I'm interested. In THAT way. For the first time in my life I really fucking feel... Geez!" (also: "Gosh, I'm in love. With this irritating handsome guy? Gooood, Jeeeeesus, Maaaary, Anyone?" 😂).

So, uniromantic. And they're the first and only characters in my fandom life whom I see in this way 🙂

A BROTP I have with said character:

In some way it's still Steve. Best friends forever - being married doesn't change it 😉

But speaking about completely platonic brotp: Chin. Chin is like an older brother. But Lou and Jerry and Kame, all boys in Ohana are true brothers ♥️ And ladies! ♥️ Kono is his sister so much! Mary too. Abby. I also love his brotp with Amy (Meka's wife). And of course Gracie! His daughter is his brotp. His Big Friend!

What I see on screen is also brotp-to-be: Danny & Sang Min. Seriously, both are Daddies, they love their kids so much, they'll do everything for them. They understand each other as fathers (scene in the prison and in Danny's car/on the beach ♥️). They both are loyal to Ohana. They ARE Ohana. And both are sassy and silver tongued 😂 (just imagine poor Stevie with these two 😂😂😂). Both are Masters of Dorkness. In Sarcasm they trust.

And sometimes they both are BAMF! Sang once was on the dark side and Danny... when he fights for victims or his Ohana, for Grace and Steve especially, when he's furious or in vigilante mood, yeah sometimes he's close to darkness, he knows the Fire (like in that episode with Marco Reyes).

And they both would give Steve their livers (Danny gave his part and Sang: "I woulda offered you my liver, McGurrett, but we both know it’s no god" 😄).

Oh, and Danny is from Jersey, Sang is from China but they both love Hawaii and it's their home forever.

A NOTP I have with said character:

Any person who is not Steve 😉 Speaking about show's canon ones: Melissa (I like her but she and Danny are veeery NOTP), Gabby (l love her much but again: NOTP with Danny). Other ladies he dated. But especially: Rachel (sorry, I'm allergic to abusers). She and her family were highly toxic to Danny and Grace. She's like Doris, even worse sometimes. I feel anxious (and mad at show writers) every damn time she's somewhere near Danny or Ohana generally.

A random headcanon:

I once had a dream about Danny so here is my a bit angsty fluffy AU with happy end:

Kono (like in the canon) feels tired and sad and thinks about leaving Five-0 and going (with Adam) to the mainland & fighting with human traffic criminals. Chin and Abby think about living in San Francisco. Max and Sabrina think about Africa. Meanwhile Rachel comes (with her mother Amanda) to Hawaii (Rachel was somewhere far away with Stan) and claims she is sorry and wants Danny back. Williamses from Jersey also come to Hawaii. They more and more ask Danny about Rachel. Bridget mentions that they all miss Danny in Jersey.

Stevie is devastated, he is sure that Danny will go to Jersey with his family and with Rachel. For sure "for Gracie". He also can't imagine living in Hawaii without almost whole Five-0, his Ohana. So Steve decides that he will go back to the Navy (*drama*). Danny is devastated. Governor Sam is devastated too, no Kono, no Chin, no Max, no Steve and no Danny... He thinks that Five-0 has no future and promises Lou and Jerry that he'll find them a new job.

Clara, hearing about Five-0 news, says that her cousin from Italy has mentioned recently there's a job offer in Italian police with higher rank and higher salary and so on. Rachel's mother is like "oh, Italy, finally some civilized place and a job for ambitious people". Danny's family is like "Well, your friends want to leave Hawaii, we're so sorry honey, but... maybe you'll think about Italian offer? Your grandma spoke Italian, you are so brilliant, you can learn it too and...". Rachel smiles and smiles and is soo sure that she will go to Italy with Danny and Grace (sorry, I've got issues with Charlie's plot so he isn't there 😂).

So all other Ohana members talk now about The Four and Max and so on leaving them. Kono, Max, Chin and Steve decide they will leave Hawaii next year. Governor then says to Danny "Better take that job in Italy, Danny. It's a really good offer".

Danny is like "What the hell they all are talking about?!". He only listens to them and says nothing. He's too much anxious, surprised, devastated and veeeery pissed off. What? No Kono, Adam, Chin, Abby, Sara, Max, Sabrina... No Steve the hell???!!! No Hawaii?! No Ohana?! No Five-0? He and who? Rachel? Buahahahahha. No funny. No fair. Nightmare! She will never change, he knows. And he can't love her. And he loves... Steve. And why the hell they all are so sure he is okay with this? He's NOT okay. They can't decide what is better for him - Italy, Jersey, no Hawaii. Seriously? All he wants is his home, his Honolulu. His beloved job and beloved police unit. His beloved Hawaiian people. And beaches. Pineapples. His Ohana. His whole Ohana. And Steve the hell. And Grace. No Rachel, no Italy, just NO.

Danny is so devastated. He's sure that he'll never see his guys again. He'll never see... Steve. He's in his darkest mood. Anxiety attacks, panic attacks, ANGER attacks, they come back to his head.

One day at some party he drinks too much. Gracie sees it. Some other day when he and Grace are crossing the street Danny is almost hit by a car cause he suddenly stood still like frozen and Grace had to scream his name to make him safe. He generally is more and more quiet, each day he looks like "something bad happened" and even though he pretends all is okay, he's good, Gracie sees it all.

One day she just asks. He says all is okay. She then says she feels him cause she doesn't want to leave either. She wants Ohana. Uncle Steve. And Danno, her beloved daddy. He asks her about Jersey, Italy, Rachel. She says NO, NO and... NO. She says that she knew he's sad and she knows how much he loves this place and these people. And her. She says he can't always think only about her. And that he CAN always have both: her and uncle Steve. "What you mean, Monkey?" he asks.

She says she noticed his reaction on Rachel and Amanda (and also Williamses' words about leaving Hawaii) and wanted to know finally what's going on. So one day, when Danny was sleeping hard in the living room (when he drank a bit too much beer for a second time) she checked his room to find "anything". And she finally found. His old letters/messages to Rachel and to the court. She also found something like his diary or letters-never-sent. There was all in them, Danny's pain, truth about his marriage, about her grandmother and mother's cruel plan aka You Will Never See Grace Again, his fear that he would lose Gracie, his love for Grace and Ohana. His pain after losing Matthew. His memories of wanting to kill himself when Rachel took Grace. His bad days and good days. His soul healing in Hawaii with Ohana. With Grace. With Steve. And photos. There were many photos of Ohana being together. And happy.

So, Grace tells Danny that everything will be all right. That NOW they're Super Team. They have to fight for the happiness. They're staying in Hawaii. They need to change Ohana's minds by showing them how wonderful this land is. How many people still need Five-0. How much they all love each other. Danny is amazed. Grace talks and talks. She has so many ideas. One of them is: Gracie will go to court with Danny and say she wanna be under Danny's sole custody (cause the situation and Gracie's feelings have changed so much). She says that the judge will listen to her and she doesn't need as much money as Rachel to win. Danny is speechless. Then Grace says: "We're staying here. Forever. We need to be more Hawaiian, daddy". She has a plan. Danny is very intrigued.

Danny and Grace, when they're with Ohana, pretend they are excited about Italy. Danny says he and Grace learn a lot about their "promised land" (nature, culture, whole history etc) and they also learn "language of love", "language of their Ohana" (Clara is happy and thinks about her mother 😂) with Captain Tanaka's help (his wife knows Italian and some other languages). Lou jokes that Tanaka helps Danny cause he never liked Danny much and that Tanaka is happy that Danny will leave this land. Danny laughs and only says "Maybe, maybe not". When they are like "So, maybe you'll show us your language skills?", Danny says "No, not now". And when they try to ask Mrs Tanaka about Danny's progress, she only joyfully says "He learns so fast, he's truly a brilliant mind, what a memory, what a voice, when he talks I can see all: the sun, the sea, sand, the wind... he melts my heart, he sounds... like his people. His level? He'll be native one day, I'm sure!". Rachel is happy. Steve is devastated.

One year later. Steve, Kono and so on organize the Farewell Party. With looooong tables, with a big stage and microphones (to say Aloha to all their people), with flowers and all that jazz. There are so many people there on the beach. All of them. Whole Ohana and their little Ohanas. All people who know Five-0: survivors (rescued - forever grateful - victims), Hawaiian people, Ruth, Dekker, Victoria models, guy from the gun store, aunt Deb and her Leonard, HPD, SWAT, Williamses, absolutely everyone. So, they all celebrate and then Amanda says "So, Daniel. Your language teacher claims you're a master now. It's time to prove it, right?". Rachel's face is like "Aww, Italy, we're coming. I only need Danny to like me hmmm how to change his mind...". Steve fights with his pain. Deb asks "Maybe some song for your Ohana?". Danny smiles. "For my Ohana, you say? Well, I did it all to save my Ohana so...". When he said "to save my Ohana" all eyes were on Rachel and Grace. Danny continues: "So yeah, I can sing for Ohana too. Come on, Monkey. We'll do it together".

So they all wait there to hear some Italian words but then, on stage, Gracie grabs something and... she starts playing on ukulele. Then Danny starts singing... in the absolutely Perfect and Beautiful Hawaiian. He's singing Hawai'i 78. Soon Gracie is singing with him. All people around are in damn shock 😂😂😂 Kawika, Mamo, Kono's mama, all native guys are like *we're sorry, our brains are now loading, please wait a while*. Chin, Kono, Danny's parents... Lou, Mary, Gerard, Odell, Kame, Sang Min 😂 They all CAN'T BELIEVE 😂 And Stevie... Gosh, he can't breathe. Somebody ventilate him, quickly! 😆 Rachel? She realizes that she lost.

When Danny and Grace sing "Cry for the gods, cry for the people, cry for the land that was taken away and then yet you'll find... Hawai'i" - Steve and their Ohana, they all have tears in their eyes.

Soon Danny and Grace sing (with sassy smiles on their faces) some other Hawaiian songs for Ohana and in the end they and Steve and all Ohana talk about their feelings, Gracie explains her and Danny's plan to save Ohana, Danny finally fights with his anxiety, insecurity and all other demons and asks all his sunshines to stay with him in Hawaii. He whispers Hawaiian "I love you" in Steve's ear. Ohana laughs, they ask if Danny is bewitched or what. He answers "By you guys, yeah".

Of course all will stay in their beloved land, Five-0 is safe, Ohana is safe, all are happy together. They cry and laugh. Rachel comes and starts ranting and shouting at Danny but then Gracie gives her a card and only says: "What? You'll take me away from Danno? Not this time. By the way, it's MY lawyer's number. Call him. Goodbye!". Steve needs some air again 😂 Clara and Eddie are soooo happy that Danny finally fights for himself SO MUCH. They understand all and Clara is like "Hmm, Eddie, maybe WE TOO will have a home here?" 😆 And Eddie is like "But they don't have Papa's Tomato Pies here, honey. And you know, I love our place in Jersey and... We can visit. They can visit. You know".

Okay, I just wanted to say that my random headcanon is that Danny loves Hawaii more and more and one day he wants to be "one of these people totally" so he learns Hawaiian. Because he CAN. And because he is like One Big Surprise. He's booooorn to be wiiiiiild 😂 (and here he's free thanks to Gracie, he's determined and motivated and "I'll show you all!" 💪💪💪).

General Opinion over said character:

Danny? Danny is The Sunshine. The Warrior. The Protector. Care Bear Number One. He's anxious and strong. He's sassy and kind. He's sensitive and BAMF! He's wise. He's a lovely dork. He's the best parent, son and friend ever. He's Steve's everything. He is a great cop/detective. He CARES about people so much (and much more than about himself). His heart is golden. He's precious. Soo precious. Ohana loves him. Fandom loves him. He deserves absolutely the best! ♥️♥️♥️ We all can write looooong essays about him and his kindest heart, right? 😍

Cosner (and i am a fan) doesn’t really make a good Earp. Dennis Quaid who I am also a fan of, doesn’t make a good Doc. This was 1994, in the 80s I might have a dif...

You hadn’t been in the chair that long. It was the last thing you wanted. The wheelchair was constricting your freedom and held you back from the live you once lived. The horrible accident that left you in this chair did far more than just take away your mobility. It took a once happy go lucky positive young woman and turned her into a broken and bitter pessimistic shell. All that was good in your world was ripped out from under your feet when the use of your legs was taken away. Even though they were right there, you could see them, touch them, feel them under your fingertips, you couldn’t move them, use them, feel them there. Instead of racing down the road behind the wheel of your favorite sports cars, you were stuck turning the wheels on your manual wheelchair or getting pushed around like the cripple you felt you were.

With a permanent sour expression etched upon your face and your voice turning gruff and spiteful, the group of friends you once spent time with began to abandon you only further driving you into your pit of despair. The only friend that stayed by you was the son of the Yakuza. Adam Noshimuri was the only light in your darkness, standing by yours side and helping you through the doctors, surgeries and therapy that you had to endure. He held you while you grieved for your legs, wiped your tears when you lost the will to go on. He gave you strength and helped lift you up, physically and metaphorically.

Even though his dealings in his father’s business were questionable at best, it didn’t matter. You clung to him as your lifeline, your heartbeat, your family, your everything. You relied fully on him for everything, completely dependent on him. You couldn’t go back to work, life as a mechanic nearly impossible without the use of one’s legs. The endless doctors appointments and healing from surgery, he was your ride, your provider, your nurse.

The work to care for you was hard and exhausting and yet Adam never complained, never left. You knew you drove him crazy, knew he should be tired of you and ready to abandon you just like everyone else. He had his own life, his own family and friends and job. You weren’t his responsibility and yet here he was pushing you out of yet another appointment.

“Thanks again for picking me up, Adam.” Your voice was soft and timid as your eyes watched your fidgeting fingers in your lap.

Adam smiled sweetly and rested a hand on your shoulder as he pushed your chair to the curb. “I couldn’t let you take the bus.” Your eyes rolled as he chuckled softly. “Do you want to come to a party with me tonight? Bonfire on the beach?” Your head turned slowly to look at him over your shoulder, a sneer making your forehead wrinkle. “You’re kidding right? Me on the beach?”

“Oh, come on, you used to love the beach.” He commented as he opened the door and began to help you in.

You huffed and clung to him as he moved you from the chair. “Yeah, well, I used to have two legs not two wheels.” You could hear him huff and when you slid into the seat, your arms crossed over your chest.

“You’re such a stubborn child.” Though it wasn’t spoken harshly, the way his eyes locked with yours, it made you frown faintly. “Just try it for five minutes. If you don’t enjoy yourself, I’ll take you home and we’ll have our own party.”

A soft sigh parted your lips as your shoulders fell in defeat. When your head nodded, your eyes fell from his intense gaze. You could practically hear the bright smile pulling at his lips, catching sight of the expression through your lashes. “Five minutes.” You raised your finger to speak sternly and he chuckled before planting a tender kiss to your forehead. Closing your door, you settled in while Adam loaded up your chair. You caught his eye after he climbed in, the man smiling again and making it impossible not to giggle. “Let’s go, stud. I’m starving and need a nap if I’m gonna be forced to socialize.”

It was his face that you woke up to a few hours later. You groaned and tried to turn over as his muffled voice began to grow clearer, your sleepy haze wearing off slowly. You felt the blanket being tugged away and you held onto the fabric as best you could and whimpered. “If you don’t get your lazy ass out of bed in the next five seconds, I’m going to dump you out of the mattress.”

“You wouldn’t be so cruel to a cripple.” You grumbled as you peeked one eye open to look up at him. His face was deadpan, clearly unamused by your words. “Ugh, can I have more than five seconds?” His head shook before he moved away from the bed and toward your closet. “I may be disabled but I’m not completely inept. I can pick out my own outfit, asshole.” He threw a look over your shoulder as you pulled yourself to a sitting position against the headboard. “Why do I need to change anyway? It’s just a bonfire, not a date.” Your eyes grew slightly in a moment of panic. “It’s not a date is it?? Because Adam, I love you, bro but--”

A shirt was tossed at your face as he laughed. “Shut up. It’s not a date. Well, at least not for me and you.” His eyebrows waggled and your eyes narrowed at him.

“I should have known. This is a ploy to get me to meet Kono, isn’t it?” Your arms crossed over his chest as you sneered at him once again. “This is because I turned down the dinner invite last week. You sneaky scoundrel.” Even his underhanded stunt caused you to smile fondly with a shake of your head.

“You need to get out more anyway. You can’t spend all your time sulking.” His voice turned serious now as he came to sit at the foot of your bed. Your eyes dropped again. You were always unable to look him in the eye when he was like this. He only worried about you. He cared and you had done little to get yourself better. “I just want the old Y/N back. I miss hanging out with her.” You sighed as you finally lifted your eyes to look at him. He smiled softly before patting your calf even though you couldn’t feel it. “Besides, the whole task force will be there.” He flashed you a wink and another part of his scheme was revealed.

You knew exactly what that meant and it made your heart flutter. Nerves suddenly took over and you could already feel your palms grow sweaty. The affect the news had on you made Adam laugh and rise to his feet. You scowled at him with a huff. “You’re evil.”

“You love me.” Adam grinned mischievously. “Now get up so you can get cute.”

The reason Adam’s news got you so excited was because the Five-0 task force happened to be headed up by an old friend of yours. You had known him when you were kids. Same school, same classes, even lived down the road from one another. You didn’t share the same group of friends but it didn’t keep you from being close friends. He had been your first kiss. It wasn’t long after that that his mother died and he was sent off to the mainland. You never heard from him after that. You would see his dad every now and then, always brief how-do-you-do’s and ‘I’m fine’s. Always just heard little snippets of him and his sister’s lives with other family members.

The years passed and eventually that young boy was the farthest thing from your mind. You heard he had joined the Navy and all that but when you moved and went to college, you never really saw his dad anymore. News of his death broke your heart and it wasn’t long after that when the Navy SEAL set foot on the island once again. The funeral was the first time you had seen the commander in years, you were surprised he even recognized you. Your conversation was brief before he was off to converse with the other attendees but that split second moment was enough to give you a smile and bring back that crush you had harbored for him when you were young.

Your current condition kept you from taking the time to actually see him. You felt useless and unwanted in the chair. The scars on your body from the accident and surgeries made you feel unattractive, not to mention the extra pounds you had gained since being unable to work out like you used to. There was no way you were going to face him when you were at your lowest. He was brave and strong and beautiful, everything you weren’t. You were nothing compared to him.

“I can’t see Steve like this!” You gestured to your lower half with a light frown and Adam sighed. His arms crossed over his chest, looking at you in both sympathy and annoyance. “The sand will be bad enough in this chair. Plus have you seen how tall he is?? I will be hobbit sized looking up to him from down here!” There was panic in your voice and you could feel your breathing became labored.

Adam quickly dropped the hard exterior and ran to your side. His hands gripped your shoulders and made you lock eyes with him. After doing a few breathing exercises with him, you were able to get yourself under control. Once you were calmed, he caught your eye and grinned softly. “If you like him this much, why are we even having this discussion?” Your head tilted as you scowled at him.

“Alright. How about I carry you across the sand?” This only caused a deeper scowl on your face and he couldn't help but laugh. “I'll get Steve to do it then.” When he winked, your fist slammed hard against his shoulder, jolting him backwards with a snicker. “If he doesn't like you just the way you are, through the bad along with the good, he isn't worth your time. And you know I’ll always be there to carry you” His voice was sincere now, a hand lifting to tuck your hair behind your ear. You couldn't help the genuine smile on your face at his words.

With a dramatic sigh and a roll of your eyes, you feigned annoyance as you lifted your arms to him. “Fiiiiiine. Let's get this over with, Samwise.” When he scooped you up, you squealed with laughter.

In the time it took to drive to the beach, you had gotten yourself worked up again. This would be the first real gathering of any kind that you were a part of since your accident. Adam was right, you used to love going to the beach. You would spend your days off surfing, swimming, or sunbathing. None of that was really possible now. The chair didn’t exactly work well in damp sand and your legs weren’t strong enough to allow you to use a walker or crutches. As Adam drove on in silence, you were wringing your hands anxiously. It wasn’t just Steve that had your heart racing. What would any of your old friends say or do when they saw you again? What would you have to say to them?

As if Adam could sense your nervousness, his hand reached out to close over your fiddling fingers comfortingly. He glanced your way and gave you an encouraging smile and you relaxed a bit. You wouldn’t have survived this long without this man and you would do anything to pay him back. And all he asked in return was for you to spend at least five minutes at a bonfire surrounded by old friends and acquaintances. After all he did for you, you figured this was the bare minimum of what you could do. Even though it was way out of your comfort zone. Right about now on a normal night you would be curled up in your snuggie watching bad television and eating M&Ms. The promise of food, booze, and a certain Lt. Commander was the only thing getting you this far.

To your surprise, when Adam pulled to a stop, you recognized the place immediately. Your nerves relaxed a bit, the familiar home making you feel more comfortable about the whole thing. A soft smile pulled at your lips and when Adam turned to look at you, you couldn’t help the blush. He laughed quietly before he climbed out. You were practically bouncing in your seat waiting for your friend to unload your chair and wheel it around. Billows of smoke could already be seen coming from behind the house, telling you that the bonfire was already burning strong.

When your door opened, you immediately twisted yourself and reached out your arms expecting Adam to be there to help you into your chair. Your cheeks flushed when you were greeted instead by a pair of ocean blue eyes and a dazzling smile. For a moment, you were frozen with your mouth agape and your arms still extended. When Steve laughed softly, you dropped your hands into your lap, your head falling as your blush only darkened. “Hi.” Your voice was soft and your eyes watched your fingers as the butterflies fluttered relentlessly in your stomach.

Steve’s smile only grew wider as he crouched slightly, resting his hands on your knees. “I’m glad you decided to come.” It was a simple statement but it was enough to make your heart soar and your eyes lift as a smile overcame your features. His smile only grew in response before he moved to scoop his arms under you. You couldn’t help the squeak that passed your lips when he lifted you up effortlessly. The movement was much quicker than you would have hoped and you were in the chair before you could even feel the warmth and firmness of his chest. When you were comfortable in the chair, the trunk of the car closed to reveal a grinning Adam. “Let’s get out there before Kamekona eats all the burgers, huh?” Steve’s voice was over your shoulder as his hands closed over the handlebars of your chair, leaning over slightly so you could see him.

You shifted your torso awkwardly with a blushing grin on your face before you finally nodded in response. Adam followed behind as Steve pushed you across the walk and around to where everyone was gathered. Familiar faces came into view and it wasn’t two seconds after you spotted Kono that Adam disappeared from your side. Your head shook lightly with a fond chuckle and you watched the two of them interact for a moment before your eyes began to look over the other partygoers.

“There’s a face I haven’t seen in a while.” When your head turned toward the familiar voice, you were greeted with an eye crinkling smile from the special blonde man. He immediately leaned in to steal a hug and kiss your cheek. His welcome caused you to smile, making it hard to be in any kind of sour mood. “You’re looking good.” He commented after he pulled away. You scoffed, waving him off lightly. “No, really. You’re a sight for sore eyes. A welcome sight when I gotta spend every day looking at this ugly mug.” His hand came to slap down on Steve’s shoulder. He smiled once more and you giggled when he pushed his fist gently against your chin.

“Ok, that’s enough flirting.” Steve grumbled before he began to push you again. Your brow wrinkled as you looked over your shoulder at him. Even though he still held a smile on his face, when his eyes met yours, there was something else in those bright orbs of his. Your eyes rolled before you folded your hands over your lap.

“There she is!” This time you were greeted by a beaming Chin Ho Kelly. He offered you a hug, saying things similar to Danny. You thought surely they had all gotten together and planned this because surely they couldn’t all be this happy to see you. You knew what you looked like having seen it every day in the mirror and you looked far from good. Each person greeted you with sincere smiles and genuine words of praise and encouragement. It was hard not to revel in the attention, your cheeks hurting from your smile and burning from the blushing.

When you were finally settled in next to the fire, beer in hand and marshmallow goo stuck to your lips, you couldn’t remember the last time you felt this light, this content. You had missed this. Conversations full of stories, laughs and nonsense, enough to lighten the soul and refresh the spirit. Steve had sadly left your side when Adam rejoined you but he didn’t go far, still able to see you. You tried to avoid the fact that every time your head turned, he would smile at you. Carrying on a conversation with Adam and Kono, your friend had his hand in yours, an innocent comforting gestures you didn’t even know you needed until it was offered. This action could be misconstrued by everyone else but to you it was grounding and warm. It felt natural and it was the most normal thing between the two of you and not even Kono found it out of place. When your eyes lifted this time, Steve was looking away, no longer holding that bright smile for you. A small frown overcame your features but you decided to ignore it and enjoy the rest of your evening.

It wasn’t long before people started to change and jump in the water. It took a few shoves and words of reassurance for you to get Adam out into the water. Thankfully, Kono reammerged in her bikini and you were quickly forgotten. Your eyes rolled before you began to roll your chair down to the edge of the water. You didn’t get far before someone else took over. When you looked up, you grinned when you laid eyes on the Commander staring ahead as he steered your vessel.

You stared out at the water and your friends splashing around once you came to a stop. A chair was drug through the thin layer of sand before Steve slid down into it. Before you could even ask the question, he answered, his hands coming to rest against his stomach. “Thought you could use some company.” Your head turned to look at him, his eyes staring out on the horizon. When his eyes turned toward you, you quickly dropped your gaze with a soft blush, missing the grin on his face.

A comfortable silence fell over the two of you as you sat there, watching the water ripple and the small waves roll in over the shore. It was calming and peaceful even with the loud laughter and talking amongst the people in the water. “Adam’s a good guy.” Your brow wrinkled when Steve’s voice pierced through the quiet. Turning to look at him, your head tilted in confusion. Instead of returning your gaze, his head dropped slightly. “He’s lucky.”

Still unsure of what he was talking about, you looked out in the water and frowned. You should have known that the Commander had never had feelings for you. Who would notice you when someone as beautiful and badass as Kono Kalakaua was around? Your sudden mood of contentment vanished as your own eyes fell. “Yeah.” The sadness in your voice caught Steve’s attention and it was his turn to look at you in confusion. “I, uh, I need some air.” Without coming up with a better excuse, you turned yourself around and pumped your arms as fast as you could to roll your chair back up towards the house.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t fast enough because you hadn’t gotten but a few feet before your chair came to a halt, two strong hands gripping the bars and pulling you backwards. You sucked in your chest, holding the disappointment and emotions back, your eyes refusing to turn to look at the man that had stopped you. He easily locked your wheels and came to crouch in front of you, his large calloused digits closing around the arms of your chair only millimeters from your skin. “Where’s the fire?” He frowned as he tried to catch your eye. “Did I say something wrong?” Your head lifted to the sky with a heavy sigh as you blinked away the angry tears. Your eyes shot down with a look of shock when he closed his hands over your knees. “Is this about Adam? Are you not happy with him?”

Your eyes grew so wide you thought they would pop from your skull. His head shot back as now he grew even more confused than ever. “With Adam?” You shook your head vehemently, picking up on the misunderstanding between them. You couldn’t help but laugh, causing Steve’s face to wrinkle slightly. As your laughter grew, he couldn’t help but laugh along until you were both wheezing and crying from the exertion. Wiping the moisture from your cheeks, you finally sucked in a much needed deep breath. He did as well before you both smiled at one another. “I’m not with Adam, Steve.” His brow lifted questioningly. “Adam’s into Kono. I thought you said he was lucky because he had her.”

Steve’s head fell as he let out another laugh, his head shaking at the thought. When he looked back up at you, his smile was different, a twinkle in his eye that you had never noticed before. “I thought Adam was the luckiest guy in the world because he had you.”

You felt your cheeks heat up again at his words. He tucked a finger under your chin, his thumb rubbing lightly over the soft flesh beneath your bottom lip. You watched as his tongue trailed lightly over his lip before he leaned in. For a moment, all air was sucked out of the bubble around the two of you and you felt light headed. Before his lips could touch yours, his breath fanning over your face, you pulled back, your hands coming to rest against his chest. Steve’s eyes grew, a look of hurt and confusion washing over him. You shook your head to assure him you weren’t rejecting him. “Why now? You’ve been back for years and you choose now to do something?”

His eyes glanced over your shoulder, your head turning to look in the direction of his gaze. You sighed when you saw your best friend catching sight of you. He waved with a smile and you waved a couple fingers back before you turned your attention back to Steve. His ocean hues were soft and he seemed so young and hopeful. You could get lost in those eyes. His hands softly came to rest on either side of your face, thumbs rubbing against your cheeks. There was no hesitation this time from either of you when your lips met.

The past didn’t matter, all the time that had passed made no difference. All that mattered was the feel of his lips against yours. Your eyes closed, your hands closing around his firm biceps as you melted. His tongue slid over your bottom lip asking for entrance and you wasted no time in granting him such, your own tongue coming to meet his. You couldn’t help the pleasant moan that vibrated against his mouth, causing him to smile. By this time, he was on his knees, his body pressed between your legs to allow him more room to fully take advantage of the kiss.

You might not have been able to feel your legs but the warmth in your core was unavoidable. A groan rattled in his chest as he brought himself as close as possible. Your fingers clenched tighter around his arms as the kiss grew deeper and more passionate, making you forget what time it was, where you were, or who was around you. The quiet throat clearing was enough to make the two of you jump back from each other. You licked your lips, avoiding eye contact as you ran a finger over your kiss swollen mouth. When you finally lifted your eyes to see who dared interrupt your moment, you scowled when you saw a smug Adam staring back.

“I’m going to take Kono home.” He stated simply, his head gesturing to the woman standing at his side. Her fingers were intertwined with his and they smiled back at you. You nodded, not trusting your voice at that moment. “I’m sure you’ll have a way to get home.” He leaned over to kiss your cheek before patting the crouching Commander on the back.

“See ya Monday, boss.” Kono stated with a smile before waving and following closely after Adam.

Steve nodded with a curl of his lips as he lifted a hand to wave back. His mouth opened to speak when his attention turned back to you but the sound of Chin’s voice interrupted once again. “I think I’m heading out too.”

Both you and Steve nodded and waved, doing the same with each person that said their goodbyes until no one was left but the infamous Danny Williams. You both glared at him for a moment as he stood there, getting the hint but wanting to drag out the awkward silence between the three of you. “Danno…” Steve practically growled and you could see Danny’s mouth twitch as he tried to fight back a grin.

“Alright, alright. I get the hint. I’ll leave you two lovebirds alone. Just use protection, brother.” He flashed Steve a wink, patting him on the back before walking away, whistling as he twirled his keys around his finger.

A laugh parted your lips as you shook your head, mentally kicking every single one of them. Now that you were alone with Steve, you felt your nervousness return. Your eyes remained locked on your fingers that now rested in your lap as you tried to calm your rapid beating heart. The moment your eyes lifted and your lips parted to speak, his mouth was on yours again putting a stop to any words you might have said or any thoughts in your head for that matter. This kiss was hungrier than before, the lack of an audience making him free to do as he wished. You smiled against the kiss, your hands coming to cup his face, the light stubble rough against your palms. You didn’t have the use of your legs but right now, you were flying.

Early season 1 – Steve's thoughts on fireworks

After seeing how he reacted when he thought he heard real gunfire (when it was really coming from a video game) in 4x07, I thought about how he'd react to fireworks (especially in season 1), which they seem to have pretty often in Hawaii. Also based on the song "A Soldier's Memoir" by Joe Bachman

Spn x-over: (gen or McKono or McRollins) Maybe John Winchester knew Joe or John McGarrett. While on a case in Hawaii, Sam and Dean notice the name in their dad's journal. Even if Joe never met John W., he knew about him from John M. telling him about him. When Steve and Danny arrest Dean and maybe Sam, too, Joe tells them to let them go.

Spn x-over: Steve is open-minded and trusts his gut and believes Sam and Dean are good guys.

Spn x-over: Maybe Steve's house is haunted, or maybe there's a case that's weird. He remembers seeing something in his dad's stuff. He finds what he's looking for. It's a piece of paper or a sticky note or something that says "John Winchester" with a phone number and says, "Call this number if anything weird happens," or something along those lines.

Reacher (TV show) x-over: Post 3x20 – Reacher decides to go to Hawaii because why not? He ends up getting framed for murder again because that's just his luck. Five-0 gets the case. Steve sees Reacher and looks like he's seen a ghost. Steve believes that Reacher didn't do it. The Five-0 team thinks Steve isn't thinking straight. It's up to Steve, Reacher, and Catherine to prove Reacher's innocence.

Renee tries to convince Lou to give Steve a chance, to get to know Steve.

Kelly (Freddie's widow) gets a new job somewhere and sees or finds something she shouldn't, so now she and her daughter are in danger. Being too scared to call the police and not knowing who else to call, she calls Steve. Steve tells her to get on the first flight to Hawaii. She and her daughter make it to Hawaii. Steve protects them.
