Well-

Mutt is much more willing for hugs. He loves connecting and socializing- He's such a butterfly and he wouldn't mind a cuddle. Probably the first one who would pick anyone up just for the sake of carrying.

Regal on the other hand- Can't hug him unless he's known you forever or theres a life situation where he'd have to hold onto you somehow. But he isn't a touchy type at all.

okay, I have no idea how coherent this is going to be, so bear with me, but here are my thoughts on jealous!Jack...

first and foremost, we must set the scene. I think my favorite thing about Devils games is that Nico is always finding himself in a situation. This is really due to the fact that he's always net front, always going into the dirty spaces, always in the midst of puck battles, and isn't afraid to use his skating ability to outsmart an opponent.

I'm thinking specifically of these moments: Exhibit A, Exhibit B, Exhibit C.

and I'm just imagining Jack either on the ice or on the bench watching things like this happen all game, every game. Like Nico's a one man charm offensive right and he doesn't this turn this charm off on the ice or off the ice, and so Jack day in, day out, is not only seeing his own teammates fall all over themselves trying to impress Nico or get a head pat from Nico, but the media who are also a little bit in love with him, and now also dudes from other teams.

and you add this to Jack's mile long praise kink, and you get Jack being Jack and then all of his cellies especially from the 2022-2023 season involve him making sure to get his hugs/pats/praise/love from Nico. he loves that attention and he wants to make sure everyone out there knows that although Nico may be a charm machine, its Jack who Nico belongs to and vice versa.

just love the idea of like Jack needing to balance the fact that he knows Nico is the Captain and he knows Nico needs to make time for all of the Devs boys, but Jack also wants his Nico all to himself.

and Nico always indulges him. every time Jack uses his stick to get Nico's attention, on the bench, during a celly, during a conference before a face off, after a game, any time Jack wants Nico's attention, Nico will always give it. its a symbiotic relationship.

but basically, everyone's a little bit in love with Nico right. like look at him. and look at how everyone in the league interacts with him. everyone's definitely a little in love with Nico, and Jack knows Nico only has eyes for him, but it does drive him a little bit bat shit that all of these people are constantly getting put under a spell by Nico's dimples and his cow eyes.

there's also this silly little headcanon I had back when Timo first joined the team last season about how Jack maybe felt a type of way about another guy joining the team that Nico has history/shared life experience with. maybe Jack decides to learn Swiss for like five minutes to try to understand what Timo and Nico are laughing about in Swiss German all the time.

I dunno, there's a lot going on in my noggin about this. its my absolute favorite because like Jack was THE boy at the USNTDP and everyone kind of circles around him and he's a first overall and on the Devils, the team, the media, the narratives circle around him. and you put that together with the magnetic pull of one Nico Hischier and oh boy whats Jack's brain doing now huh?

the layers are there and they are so endearing. I'm living for your Timo headcanon bc I recently had the experience of seeing a Timo pic on the devil's social media and went "oh whoa holy shit he's good looking" so I can project this feeling onto Jack, who's torn between wow he's good looking to him and nico are real close and idk how to feel about that levels of internal conflict. meanwhile those two are just gabbing on about absolutely nothing of importance hfnshffn.

Since hyperfixating on the two I now either name my day as either a Thorin or Bilbo day.

Sounds weird, I know, but like if my mood feels like a ‘Thorin’ kinda mood I’ll try dress how I think he would dress (mainly from headcanons I have of him) or if I feel like it’s gonna be a ‘Bilbo’ day, try dress like Bilbo (again from headcanons).

Sometimes it’ll start off as a Thorin day and may turn into a Bilbo one later on, and vice versa.

It is weird to match my moods to two characters but it makes it easier to sum up how I feel. Cuz for me:

Thorin = grumpy although sometimes happy, but mainly shown on the inside, but is also a relaxed mood but may be feeling kinda sad but not sad sad just the not feeling happy sad. Attitude comes off as mean and rude sometimes but don’t mean to but depending on who you are then it is intentional. Just an awkward person sometimes when can’t express properly either. Can be a bit more extroverted sometimes. Also just quiet around people but loud around friends.

Bilbo = feeling alright and cheerful, more talkative. Possible random energy bursts and just relaxed and in like happy mood, although can be grumpy but not Thorin grumpy. Attitude is overall nice but can get sarcastic and sassy, awkward shy person around people. Very introverted and would rather stay home or with friends if there’s a planned outing.

Not all of that would be accurate to their behaviour but like cuz it’s mixing with my own behaviour. Also with Thorin it makes me wanna be more masc but with Bilbo I just wanna be cottage core themed, rlly weird but yeah.

This could be an adhd thing but yeah it just helps sum up how I may feel most days. Thought I’d share cuz like why not but two may help others express their mood with their own characters idk 🤷🏼 rambling now so I’ll go

I dunno if this really counts as an interest or hobby but they train together! They both want to get stronger, and can go a little nuts (provided they're not using haki) because their Devil Fruits just happen to make it so neither of them can really hurt the other. They also love being out in nature together; Yara so she can collect her plants and Ace because he's a feral jungle boy who needs to be set loose in his natural habitat sometimes lol (he tries to impress her with his hunting skills like he'll just haul over some massive boar he managed to take down like "Yaraaaa!! Look what I brought!! 😁" And she'll pat him on the head like "That's nice, Ace. Thank you. 😌")

23. What are the defining characteristics of their relationship?

Loyalty and intense, dedicated, passionate love. They are so ride or die for each other. Probably the most fated lovers I've ever written tbh

24. How do their personalities affect their relationship? Do their characteristics compliment each other, or clash often?

They are somehow simultaneously very similar while being very opposites attract. A lot of their trauma comes from the same place of desperately wanting to be loved and trying to find a place to belong in the world, so even though they appear very different on the outside (Ace with his sunshine golden retriever personality and Yara with her disgruntled black cat personality), they understand each other on a fundamental level. Their personalities complement each other nicely in their day-to-day lives-- Ace gives love where Yara craves it, Yara gives affirmation where Ace needs it-- and the only time where things really clash is when Yara wants her alone/quiet time and Ace gets all 🥺 about it, lol
