Dick is Romani and is canonically more feminized but the dumb womanizer thing is really getting on my nerves. First of all, he's one of the smartest characters, ever. The comforting thing about Dick is that he never loses.

The reason I love reading Dick Grayson runs is because I can read about his thought process, the way he analyzes, how he single-handedly solves crime like it's nothing.

Secondly he's not a womanizer. He literally has a mental break down at the thought of dating or even kissing someone he isn't in love with. He's never, ever, ever going to sleep with someone he doesn't have atleast some level of romantic attraction to because he feels it's inherently wrong and canonically frowns upon that behavior when others do it.

The mother hen thing - I gotta admit is kinda accurate. He really loves his family and friends and takes care of them really well. He always makes time to sit and listen to all of them with all their problems and helps them solve it so that's fine.

Jason

The hispanic thing - what the actual heck. Literally why? Jason's "hispanic" fanon background along with Tim's "asian" background comes from a wider problem where society has become disillusioned by the same ethnicity for all characters and wants for diversity and representation in the media. I actually do believe in greater representation but not here. When people make Jason hispanic due to his street backstory, they're attempting to diversify canonically white characters but accidentally reinforcing and perpetrating damaging stereotypes about particular ethnicities. Because his background has drugs, poverty, and crime - you want Jason to be Latino? Can you possibly make things worse? And Jason being an angry heartless brute. Not even adding to the stereotype, Jason was not like that. Jason originally started off as troubled but excited kid. He was happy about fighting criminals and having a home and getting food. As he grew older, the more criminals he fought, he came to a realization that people weren't going to change which is when he started getting more violent and angry with them. He didn't do it because he was some sort of psychopath, it's because he cared a lot about the effects these criminals were having on innocent people. Because he can relate. His anger has nothing to do with his supposed "hispanic" background which is still - ?!?!? Why is this even a thing.

Cass

I don't really have anything to say about Cass being that archetype because tbh I kinda think of her like that too. She's exceptionally good at fighting, she's chinese, and she's the strong and silent type. I'd love to hear more about what your gf thinks about it though.

Tim

Again about Tim being Asian. No where near as damaging as Jason being classified Hispanic but also why? He's asian because he's smart? Because he's good at computers? C'mon the stereotype is boring. Isn't it exciting when you watch a movie or show and the Indian guy isn't an IT specialist? Or when the Chinese girl has neon highlights and loves partying? Or when the Japanese girl is rocking combat boots? The best way to appreciate diversity is actually letting ethnic characters have diverse personalities and talents. On a side note, there is not nearly enough celebration of already canonically diverse characters like Roy's navajo heritage or Jessica Cruz's latina one. Isn't it ironic how we're making racialized characters based on stereotypes because we believe there should be more diversity but ignoring canonically ethnic ones. Literally noone talks about Cass connecting to her Chinese side or the fact that she has dyslexia but we're readily jumping on the Asian Tim Drake train.

Autistic Tim Drake I can see where they're coming from because Tim sometimes has a hard time connecting to people. Like he sometimes misses social cues. And to be fair this theory actually has more credibility than some other ones because I don't know if I'd pass that off as awkwardness. But it also may be due to lack of human interaction. Tim's parents left him alone for long periods of time which he gleefully used to track robin and batman at night. I don't have a problem with this one because Tim may actually be inadvertently written as autistic at times so I guess it wouldn't be that far off canon.

I don't like making posts like this, I don't like opening my blog up for people to come and harrass me but oh my god, why does the fandom allow posts like this to get away unscathed?

You don’t have to like Marina. I'll never claim that. You can like or dislike whoever you want.

But I do wonder, if Marina was played by a white woman would we get nearly as many posts like this? Would everyone be as okay with it? Would we have been so quiet about the fact that Ruby Barker was harrassed for this role? Or would there be way more people defending her? Would she suddenly be sympathetic when now shes not?

Why are we all so okay with taking this character with a nuanced story, put in a horrible situation with almost no options and turning her into a villian?

Like did we watch the same show? Did you miss the bit where she doesn't want to find a husband at all and only starts when she thinks shes been abandoned, which she only believes because she gets a forged letter saying she was? Did you not see Portia slap her? Did you not also watch a man old enough to be her grandfather being forced on her?

Lying to Colin wasn't okay, I'm not defending that, but literally tell me what her options were?

The man she loves is dead, but she doesn't even know that she thinks he abandoned her, so she can't reasonably assume Phillip will take responsibility when his brother won't. The only people Portias interested in introducing to her are those she wouldn't introduce to her own daughters. She can't reasonably think Colin will be open to her as a wife since shes pregnant becausethats not the norm. But Colin is, he says he would have married her even knowing. And Colin also doesn't view Marina as a villian, in season two hes sad yeah, but he’s also guilty because he doesn't think she deserved what happened.

This is a nuanced messy situation but no one wants to look at that.

Like you all make it very clear you view her as a whore, because she did a very normal thing and had sex. You all view her as a manipulative snake of a person, when if she was even the Whistledown article wouldn't have been a stop for her because she would have tried to get out of it. You conveniently forget that she almost killed herself in an attempt to abort her children because of her mistreatment post Whistledown article because that takes away from the idea you've concocted that shes some villainous bitch.

But then you turn around and want Penelope to have sexual knowledge that she realistically wouldn't and canonically doesn’t. You praise her for her Whistledown work even though it keeps hurting people she loves and shes lying about doing it.

This is weird, posting about how you can't wait for a character to die, and how you hope the death is - lets be honest here- humiliating, is a bizarre thing to do.

Its even more bizarre to do that, tag the character, and then also tag two ships that really the post really isn't about.

Like why is Polin tagged? Because they're both mentioned? This isn't a polin moment. You don’t talk about them at all in the meat of the post. Why is Philoise tagged? Because she's an 'obstacle' for them? They haven't even met, they aren't mentioned at all, they have nothing to do with this.

And on top of tagging these things you say "don't try and defend her to me" which why would we you clearly wouldn't listen. You follow that with saying "If you like her you probably suck" and claim to have tagged this as anti marina when you didn't. You put this in her main tag and then added "death to marina".

Theres no respect to your peers in the fandom, and clear disrespect to people who do like this character and are actually willing to engage with the character beyond fanon portrayal. Because thats what this is its not even taking her at face value anymore.

they are very much a weak point in combat, id saying. if you fuck someones wings up, they are done for. cant fly away, permanent damage. and theres not many ways to defend them (beyond putting armour on the flesh and bone part of the wing - which would do a lot more than it sounds like!). so i do think that it would be social taboo to go for someones wings in battle.

but even if it is social taboo.. accidents happen, and it works differently on different servers, right? and thats what this post is about ! focusing on smps where theres actual Combat (sorry hermitcrafters and kww collab fans)

first off, my beloved.. the dream smp. honestly! i think people would NOT go for the wings. there may be wars and actually genuinely fucked up stuff, but going for the wings in a fight is taking it too far. accidents have DEFINITELY happened tho, what with the sheer amount of withers and explosions. like phils wings being fucked up! yes i know thats a canon thing but im using it to prove my point here. the EXCEPTION to this 'people not intentionally going for the wings' thing is, well. c!dream. the fucker would INSTANTLY go for the wings whenever he has an opportunity. its a weak point, of course he'd abuse the fuck out of it, like. its impossible to expect anything otherwise.

lifesteal!! this ones fun to me because i think theyd have Concrete Rules on this. like they already do! from off the top of my head, i remember that netherite armour is banned, for example. i think going for the wings would just be... another thing thats banned. and no matter how deep into the Lore that people get, those rules are GEEENERALLYYYYY followed. the wings one for sure is. it may be the dEaDlIeSt SeRvEr, but theyre all there willingly. getting their wings fucked up is not something ANYONE wants. i dont know enough about lifesteal to pinpoint specific times that Accidents wouldve happened but! whatever. this is one rule that they always follow i think. (please dont kill me for this one if you disagree, i havent watched enough lifesteal)

now the life series... naturally, going for the wings is banned. ..but only nominally, really. all bets are off when youre on red, right? i really dont think there could be anything to stop people on red from going for peoples wings in fights. i mean, depending on your interpretation of the life series (as in, does being on red actually make someone Bloodthirsty like most common fanon, or is it just a Thing that lets someone attack others?), this can change, but i like the first one, so with that in mind... yeah nothing would stop people on red from going for the wings. this only gets MORE INTERESTING if you believe life series and hermitcraft to be connected in some way... with the inevitable wing injuries that would come from the life series, if they just... go back to hermitcraft and other servers afrterwards... if those injuries are permanent (which i do believe they are), then... oh that would be Something hehe. keeping this in my back pocket a fic idea, yall are free to yoink it.

and last but not least, bcs i dont actually watch that many smps (esp not with fighting) or whatever... unstable universe. pretty much what i said for lifesteal! like! i dont see any reason why itd be any different. yes unstableverse doesnt have Rules like lifesteal, but... theyre mostly the same people. if they can follow that Rule in lifesteal, combined with the social taboo thing, i think that they wouldnt really go for the wings. thats just a line you dont cross. actually that does make me think of a real point abt this, that a lot of the fandom does this thing i like to call walking backwards on the same wrong path, where you validate incorrect premises by trying to refute them. see: hatedom says jaune arc is a self insert and gets too much screentime, and fndm reaction is to be like "no way! jaune isnt even a main character! he doesnt matter!" like hm i am not sure thats true either mate

lol yeah. & then the venn diagram collapses into a "jaune is getting too much screen time" circle because the deuteragonist is not in fact a "side character." although i do think the strident insistence that jaune is a trivial side character is less a direct response to the self-insert bullshit than it is motivated by how extremely fucking weird a lot of jaune fans are about him re: making him vessel for their self-insert misogynistic power fantasies.

which i also think is probably a contributing factor in the "jaune is an authorial self-insert" claim having the staying power that it does—the section of the hatedom that rages about jaune getting too much screen time finds the incessant power fantasy harem jaune bilge just as obnoxious as the mainstream fandom, but where the fandom tendency is to be honest about it (i.e. "i don't like jaune much because jaune stans are so gross and annoying about him that i just can't enjoy him as a character") hatedoms—don't operate in good faith, and even outside hatedom there's a pernicious tendency in fandom (generally, not specific to rwby) to fault creators for unpleasant fan behavior. in that mode the background radiation of power fantasy harem jaune self-insertion by jaune fans very easily fuels an unspoken sense that this sort of textually baseless projection is in fact the intended response to the character, and that's exacerbated by the high proportion of hate-fans who don't really watch the show and strictly engage with fanon and hate-fanon.

(<- like i'm always saying when i talk about hatedom, the latter phenomenon—fans who don't actually engage with the text at all—is not restricted to hatedom and any fandom that is moderately visible Online is likely to have a contingent of fans who solely engage with fanworks. that contingent is usually not disruptive or noticeable in large fandoms but can be a bane in small fandoms if they start writing fanfic. 🫵 longtimer tts mutuals know of my seething disdain for certain popular cassunzel fic writers who Did Not Watch The Show. lmao)

but yeah. people are fucking weird about jaune in particular and like so much of it boils down to somehow not grasping that he is… the deuteragonist… for nine volumes and counting.

and to be fair i (obviously lmao) do think there's analytical value in starting with a take you don't agree with and building out an argument against--imo it's often easier to pin down your specific reasons for not agreeing with some interpretation than to articulate your own response to a text from nothing, which is why a lot of my posts are Like That. but for that to be valuable requires you to be intellectually honest and fair about what you're arguing against, and that means giving it actual serious evaluation and being skeptical of your intuitive disagreement versus kneejerking in the opposite direction, lol.

rwby fandom has a Particular very funny set of incentives where its like

a) rwby itself is a story written with and interested in nuance + moral complexity and it's most rewarding to engage with the narrative in that way;

b) rwby has a dedicated hatedom, which entails the development of a hate-fanon predicated on deliberate misinterpretation and bad faith reading of the text;

c) the fandom-wide persecution complex re: the preceding point makes platforming the hatedom [via mockery, rebuttal, or whining] broadly socially acceptable within rwby fandom spaces;

d) which serves to embed "[you/these people] don't understand nuance" into the fandom vernacular as an automatic response to perceived Bad Takes;

f) fans making hatedom watch a core part of their engagement with rwby fandom tend to gradually degrade their ability to differentiate hatedom bullshit from good faith discussion on parts of the narrative the hatedom fixated on (e.g., "ironwood right!" vs "ironwood's decisions all make sense from his point of view and it's reductive to read him as a one-note villainous caricature");

g) in a similar vein, because rwby hatedom constructs the hate-fanon primarily around (misogynistic) moral-reversal whereby male antagonists in prominent conflict with the main heroines are lionized while the heroines are reinterpreted as the 'real' villains (and female villains are variously either ignored, treated as accessories for male characters, or demonized), textual interpretations that engage with the moral complexity + nuance in the text (good characters can do bad things and be wrong in non-trivial ways, bad characters can be right and are always unapologetically humanized) become suspect in certain circles of the fandom;

h) ^ that is in addition to the general tendency, not at all specific to rwby fandom, among people who can't handle moral complexity or nuance to project their own black-and-white thinking onto everyone else.

…& the outcome of all this is to create a social environment in which the accusation of "lacking nuance" gets leveled at specifically readings predicated on the understanding that rwby is a story that wants and invites the viewer to think critically about its characters.

can anybody please explain the appeal of tim drake because ive been into the batfamily for a while now and tbh im really confused on why people like his character so much compared to the other robins. like they all have their own thing going on and he just... doesnt?

Have you read his Robin solo? Because if not and you want to try to like him but just don’t understand why people do, that’s what I’d recommend. That and like, Young Justice 1998. 

Because Tim definitely... does have his own thing going on. Maybe not in the same way as the others, but like, there’s a reason he has a 183 issue long solo comic that ran for like 16 years: he was fun to read about!

But I will give some more specific thoughts on the subject as a Tim Drake Appreciator™ (this got long im sorry)

The appeal of Tim (especially early on Tim) is kinda the fact that he’s this more normal kid. For a while that is his ‘thing’. He was basically designed to be a self-insert (he definitely became more than that along the way, but from the start he was meant to be relatable) in a different way than how Dick and Jason had been before him. 

Like the role of Robin from the start was this way to create a character young readers could identify with more, could see themselves in more. And Dick and Jason did that, but they still had this element to their lives and stories that was more... unattainable for the average reader. Dick was a circus prodigy, Jason was either also a circus prodigy if we remember pre-crisis or if we go with his post-crisis story he’s this street-wise orphaned kid who had a really tough life but still went on to be a hero anyways. Obviously those lives are relatable for some people, but those’re definitely not as broadly recognized as common upbringings especially not by DC trying to market to the ‘average’ kid/young teen.

But the creation of Tim changed the game a bit. Dick and Jason were these aspirations a kid could look to like ‘wow I want to be cool like that!’ but Tim was a Robin designed for kids to look at and go ‘wow, his problems and civilian life are just like mine AND he’s a hero, I want to be cool like that!’, ya know? Tim was... just a clever kid with an average life who managed to connect some dots and had enough drive to want to fix things he saw were a problem, he didn’t have the same kind of heightened drama backstory the others did. The Robins that came after Tim definitely didn’t have this idea of relatability in mind the same way either. Unfortunately Steph’s time as Robin was much more of a marketing ploy than an actual like... decision to make her Robin, so it’s hard to really fit her into this conversation. But Damian from the start was first of all initially created not to be Robin but just as the son of Talia and Bruce back in the 80’s, but when he was later reimagined into the character that would become Robin he had the whole ‘raised by and is the heir to the league of assassins and is the son of batman’ thing going on still. He just was not supposed to be relatable that same way, he was a character designed with different things in mind.

I really think it was more just DC’s 90′s era younger-audience comics in general that tried to push that relatability thing (like in YJ how Cissie even after quitting the team stays a major character as a civilian throughout, and the civilian aspect that’s super present in Bart’s 90s solo too, etc), but later in the 2000’s that idea was definitely pushed to the side in favor of... putting in even more dramatic superhero-y stuff.

And the other thing that’s... such a more normal thing but it actually made him unique here, was that Tim’s dad was still alive until like 2004 (so 15 years into Tim being around as a character). This gave Tim a lot more typical ‘family school girlfriends normal life etc’ problems on top of/in contrast with his superhero problems. These just manifested in very different ways than they could with the other Robins because of that unique situation with a living civilian parent who doesn’t know about hero stuff (until he did find out which lead to that whole Unmasked thing, but there was only the brief time around War Games & Identity Crisis where Jack knew Tim was actively Robin and he was... still alive) Tim also had his life at school expanded way more than most other Robins, like, he had such an extended supporting cast of civilian friends which is a really interesting thing to read about (and the fact that he hasn’t had that stuff since the New 52 I think really hurts his character)

And then related to that loss of his dad... Personally another thing about Tim that really interests me is how a lot of things were more... his choice. if that makes sense. A lot of characters in the Batfamily were struck with tragedy/extreme trauma before they became heroes and that’s what spurred them into this life of becoming heroes. Tim’s situation wasn’t like that at all! When he first got involved in everything during Lonely Place of Dying, the only tragedy he’d experienced was watching Dick’s tragedy happen. Which sure yes traumatic obviously, but that’s not the same as how pretty much all the other Bats had gone through these very personal losses or other sorts of very first-hand personal traumas that served as motivators. Tim didn’t start to experience those things until after he got involved in the hero life, and aside from his Mom’s death which was more of just an unrelated incident (that technically happened before he was officially Robin but it was during his time training to become Robin), pretty much all these other tragedies and things... would not have happened or been experienced by him had he not become Robin. 

That’s not me placing blame on him or anything like that, because god no that’s not how that works, but it’s very interesting because from his point of view he definitely feels that guilt because he knows him being Robin played a role in a lot of it (Thinking specifically about in Adventure Comics #3 when Kon even says “I know what guilt does to you” to him like it’s... it’s a thing with him!). His dad was murdered because he was Robin. He only met Steph and started dating her through being Robin, and thus he would not have experienced the loss of his girlfriend dying like that had he not been Robin. Tim met both Conner and Bart through being Robin, and would not have had a personal connection to them when they died otherwise. The whole Bruce’s death thing after Final Crisis, like. I could go on honestly, that was only talking about losses not even his own experiences nearly getting killed, but yeah, all these personal tragedies were experienced by him specifically because he chose to bring himself into this life, which I think in turn plays into how throughout his comics you see him go from having this really optimistic view on things and being really hopeful to seeing him at that low point he reaches by the time of Red Robin. (thinking about that one post that points out how Tim started out in the 90′s as an optimist and Steph a cynic and by the time they were Red Robin and Batgirl in 2009 they had switched outlooks...) 

I also think that him having had such a great team book with the original Young Justice can help contribute to people liking him. His friendships with the rest of the core four and that team in general are really compelling. (and that’s something like again when looking at the other Robins, while Dick had the Titans ofc, Jason never really found footing with a team outside of like one mission with the Titans and then We All Know How Damian’s Teen Titans Stuff Went. Steph also only ever really worked with a team outside the batfam on very brief occasions) and even though I’m not as big of a fan of the 2003 Teen Titans run that came after YJ, people who read Young Justice and also that could follow and be attached to those same characters over a pretty decently long period of time. 

Idk man, I don’t really have an ultimate point here i’m just rambling. I can definitely understand not seeing the appeal to him right away (honestly i’ve been into Batfam since like 2013/2014 and Tim did not become one of my faves until 2020) especially if like... idk when you say ‘into the batfamily’ that can mean a lot of different things. If you’re reading more like the bigger events with the batfam sure Tim can kinda fade into the bg a bit, if you’re more talking about fanon the fanon version of him is prettyyyyy uhhhhh not really the same as how he was in pre New 52 canon, if you’re mainly reading New 52 era Batfam stuff then that Tim I also don’t understand the appeal of bc thats Not My Boy, if you’re interested in a different member primarily and only familiar with Tim when he shows up in things focused on that other character then it’s easy to not really understand the appeal right away bc he’s more there to support that character rather than shine in his own right. 

I think it’s also worth mentioning he’s just not everybody’s cup of tea, and that’s totally fine. Like, these are fictional characters and sometimes you just will vibe with a character and sometimes you won’t! idk if this helped at all or even made sense. but yeah. I just think he’s neat 😌

OK ill explain a bit! im dozing off rn so pls understand that i dont know how to write or type.

ill probably do a little more indepth so i base a lot of my character designs on how the voice sounds. like what would this character look like based off how they sound, sounds can have shapes so voices can have shapes. little uh motifs i guess? in voice? also, more obvious, design based off personality and also (very loosely) based off the models.

i came up with the designs half way through watching act two. i think only the first ep of act 3 was out at the time so it was EARLY days there wasnt even funny halve live fandom yet rlly. but YEAH so i got to make designs without too much influence from others which is awesome

gordon is comedic straight man normal guy (even tho hes Not normal) hes very generic, kinda scruffy. hes the Main Character and i wanted him to ve very Main Character. hes built like a rectangle, but softer edges. kinda goes along w his voice honestly. just a dude youd see in the line at starbucks or smthn. cartoony glasses w weird dot eyes trope thnak YOU... gordon normal voice syndrome m gettin NOTHIN from this guy he also has a mullet u just cant see it w the ponytail

benrey looks human and is pretty human. bc my art style is the way it is. hes built like a squircle, very wide and imposing but not in a threatening way, in an agitating way. he looks pliable and soft, like playdoh. he doesnt emote, and when he does the expression is forced and awkward. hes an alien after all, and is kinda still getting used to the whole Human Body Thing. benreys voice sounds round!

(gordon and benrey dont have contrasting designs but they have a lot of similarities in both shape and build. bc i dont see them as direct opposites and see them more similar if anything. they dont contrast since Everyone antagonizes gordon one way or another.)

bubby is the definition of Prickly Old Bastard, literally and figuratively. not approachable but generally nonthreatening (somewhat). hes on Edge, easily agitated and uptight, thats why hes always wearing a turtleneck or his shirt collar goes up to his head almost lookin uncomfortably tight. wanted him to contrast coomer..! a lot of the lil details of his design face upwards and inwards. bubbys voice sounds angular!

coomer is round and soft, hes fat bc hes a boxer and also bc it makes him look sweet and approachable, even though hes a very dangerous always-ticking timebomb. i wanted him to look visibly strong but not anime-buff, and also wanted him to contrast bubbys design in almost every way, which is why he changed so drastically compared to my first hlvai art. a lot of the lil details of his design face downwards and inwards. coomers voice sounds round!

(note how coomer and bubby have contrasting character designs but still have similar aspects to them. i wanted them to have a statler/waldorf or bunsen/beaker situation,where theyre obviously a duo. theyre both da shortest in the science team...same height)

tommy is tall and has been since my first piece of hlvai fanart. i just LOVE softer almost unassuming characters standing out like a sore thumb and that MAINLY being bc theyre tall. his voice sounds very tall too, i wish i could explain how or why. baaulp said tommy was a cross between the secretary in twin peaks and pee wee herman and i ran with that. awkward beanpole that wears the same outfit everyday. loose spaghetti noodl. wobbly nd fluid never stiff!!

darnold is my newest design concept and i wanted him to be soda can shaped!!! thats honestly it, he was the easiest one to get. i had his design in mind since i watched the act 4 vod before the episodes were actually released. hes similar to gordon where i wanted to give him this Normal Guy Dad Look. his designs a lot less complex since i used the soda can shape concept AND jusr how his voice sounds.....

anyway when wayne talked abt my designs on stream i Died and also i feel like thats when they were adopted by a lot of the fandom and slowly started mutating into what the general fanon designs are now. except for coomer and darnold who im Sure i based off other folks' designs! same w some of benrey im sure. idk early hlvai fandom days r blurry bc my brain doesnt WORK

i know Crossmare is a really popular ship and i'll probably get killed for this but just remember this is not based off fanon stuff. it's just me looking at the canon facts and speculating based on those.

i actually also ship Crossmare along with Kross, Krossmare, Killercreamare, Errink, Destructive Death, Afterdeath, Dustberry, Horrordust, etc. etc. as a multishipper. I'm just trying to be logical here.

so if you see the analysis going in a direction you don't like, you can just skip to the bottom to see the overall analysis in a more simplified version.

Crossmare is really popular apparently. I've noticed it a lot on Tumblr and Wattpad.

Unfortunately now I need to crack it's head open.

FluffyNight is apparently canon. I was told this a while ago. FluffyNight (CcinoxNightmare) is canon. So now unless I was told wrong or Joku changes their mind, all Nightmare ships that aren't FluffyNight are out the window.

Alright with that out of the way: It isn't gonna work.

In case no one noticed, Cross is both a memelord and can be an asshat at times as depicted in "Adventures of XChara and Swap!Chara" when he intentionally scares Palette and Goth. He also tricked Goth into giving him all of his chocolate milk before getting his ass beat by Geno. Then when Dream and Nightmare run into him, Nightmare just wants to stick around because "it's funny" after Dream declares he'll try to help get Cross out of a vending machine Geno stuck him in.

Lesson learned: Don't screw with Geno or any of his kids.

So Cross is both an asshole and memey as hell. Nightmare literally doesn't give a fuck and just wishes to feed off negativity.

Aaand they literally don't care about each other.

That was probably their only interaction OUTSIDE of Underverse and fanfic within a sort of canon multiverse. Literally Epicross is more likely since he and Epic are actually best friends.

and then IN Underverse, they were literally using EACH OTHER. Cross used Nightmare to gain access to other worlds to rebuild his own world, and Nightmare used Cross to gain a minion to spread negativity without telling him about the "fine print". They literally tried to manipulate EACH OTHER.

I mean, I guess if they DID decided if they liked each other in some sort of other timeline it COOOOUUUULLLLDDDDD work...? Like, Cross can be an asshole so i guess that causes negativity..?

As for Cross being a memelord, he puts up with 3 idiots already. Does he really need more...?

But the real question is: Can CROSS. Put up with NIGHTMARE?

Can Cross deal with Nightmare just laughing at his misery when he needs help and what not?

But THATS JUST A THEORY-

Anyhow now to speculate on relationship possibilities :3

So even though it's pretty low due to Nightmare already being taken apparently and their large seemingly disinterest in each other, let's just say they somehow managed? Would the relationship actually work or would it sink like a tank?

alright lets look at the facts:

-Nightmare feeds off negativity, therefore creates it by attacking AUs but keeps them alive

-Cross can be a jerk but is good friends with Epic and are meme buddies

-Nightmare is "deceiving, erratic, unpredictable and evil" according to the canon wiki

-"When he was younger, said he was very smug, to which he loudly denies, only to be yelled at."

-"At first, Cross was far more compassionate as the , wanting to believe in even when he tried to kill him. But when Frisk took control of their friends, including Cross' brother , he lost all faith in him, and used all of his power to stop him by killing his former friends, even ruthlessly killing Papyrus and absorbing soul."

So what we got is:

Nightmare is deceiving. He was very smug even before the apple incident. Cross used to be compassionate, but has lost all faith. So the instant he is back stabbed, he never forgets. He is greedy, selfish, and reckless now after his world is gone. He was still very friendly to Ink though when they first met, and acted arrogant after wards.

So it would seem Cross is very friendly at first, but turns from compassionate and energetic to arrogant and selfish the moment he's betrayed.

And Nightmare tricked him and tried to kill him in Underverse.

But if it was another timeline where Underverse didn't happen, they... Well.

It's possible for them to not hate each other?

I mean- Cross won't hate him if he doesn't betray him. He'll actually be more friendly than hostile. Same can't be said about Nightmare though. He is 'smug' and 'deceiving'. So they'll probably have more of a subject/master relationship. But i have seen a lot of fanfic where Nightmare is attracted to Cross's loyalty and his pride meter gets kicked down a notch?

then there's if they DO get together.

god knows how well the other members of the team would take Cross being the favorite of Nightmare. depending on how well they take it it can go from:

silent treatment to bullying to all sorts of shit.

since Cross is very compassionate and friendly at first, he'll probably try to get to know the others. if they prove to be hostile and unfriendly, it's likely Cross could possibly act hostile to them back and things get chaotic with possibly the three rebelling. Then there's if they are okay with it, what about Ink? Ink and Cross used to be friends, so there's a lot of tension between them.

Ink knew Cross well, so he might try to take advantage of what he knows to hurt Nightmare.

But, could they work if nothing goes wrong?

Yeah, i think they could. Cross is very loyal so he could possibly both keep up the relationship and continue to farm negativity for Nightmare even if the others start to slack off. Especially since he's not as lazy as compared to the others since he was never "trained to be lazy".

Overall: Canonically? OH HELL NO-

In another universe or timeline? Maaayyybbeeee...? It really depends.

Fandom does this a lot, yeah, nearly anything I've been in will have people tweak characters into things they are not for the sake of angst. I've seen villains who were already plenty evil become egregious monsters who do things that are NEVER even hinted at and have that be accepted as fanon, and its very gross.

Which is why I feel like its really important just every now and then, bring it up and get people thinking about WHY they do the things they do. I'll be really upfront: I'm not comfortable with the one Black Man in the game, (who may be seen as ND as well) being made so villainous and just have that be the norm, and I think the fact that Robin is (not always but often) still seen in a good light, leaves a sour taste in my mouth. If it were just fics I might chalk it up to the indulgence fic writers engage in with a side eye. I can't really stop anyone, power to you I guess! Unfortunately even like, SDV youtubers have called Demetrius an 'evil robot' (which is realllllly iffy if you do in fact read him as ND) and rank him super low, where as characters like say, Pierre or Pam will get shit but almost like, fondly? Very comedic? Thats kind of what I mean, its the context and approach.

As for Pam: I love Pam and Penny, and Pam I understand why she's empathized with so I hope me singling them out isn't seen negatively. I'm more making a point of the flippancy of like, assumed dynamic versus something thats in your face: Penny has been caretaking her mother who is dealing with her issues and they fight, and they get better with time and love each other even if its hard. You actually can see a Pam or Pierre dealing with strife with their kids and in Pam's case, her anger whether outward or inward. Demetrius though? Even after that weird heart event with Maru, if you tell Maru the truth and you talk to Demetrius after the fact, he sheepishly apologizes to you. Honestly I kinda feel bad for the fact that a lot of scenes seem to be him flubbing a situation, he doesn't get the same arc as most even though he's the parent of two bachelors. I say that to say that like, I just think its weird that a person would then see him in game and be like 'yep thats the guy whos going to scream at Sebastian and ridicule him' like WHERE?

I do think the writing in the game could have approached the Mountain Family a little better, especially with Demetrius and Sebastian, and again, some of the events for Demetrius boil down to choices more for friendship points than like, development if that makes sense, and that doesn't help him even though said instances like the bed argument or the fruit argument feel pretty harmless and comedic, I can see how some people viewed it as like, purposeful. Rather confusingly, the game mostly includes Robin in Sebastian's heart events but Demetrius in Maru's, and that ALSO doesn't help in like the idea that they're supposed to be one unit. I wish I knew why that was the case, maybe some in-game dialogue from Demetrius about his step-son could have helped, but I can't really undo that. All I can do is make the case that even if he's not the best step-parent, it doesn't mean he deserves to be mischaracterized so badly for the sake of drama and I lament the commonality of it.

And yes! Thats exactly it, its a two way thing for sure: Sebastian absolutely isolates from his family and you gotta take that into consideration with how he views things. Like, from Sebastian's POV we get those feelings of feeling inadequate for sure, but then by the same token, when you talk to Maru, she talks about how she wishes she and Sebastian were closer, if you marry her she comments that if Sebastian wasn't a hermit she'd invite him over for dinner, and when you have kids with Sebastian later on if you marry him, he says this:

“I hope and [child] are nice to each other. Maru and I always fought as kids. If I think back on it, it was mostly my fault…”

And I personally took that to mean he was reflecting on himself , that yeah hes worried about favoritism from his own experience but also acknowledges he didn't always make it easy for Maru either. I don't think anyone would be quick to call Sebastian an asshole for having a strained relationship with his baby half sister though, because they can empathize with how complicated that can be, but they can still feel for Maru too. And Maru in turn, has a little of that obliviousness/dreaminess to her and her actions (like her dad to a degree!) but its never malicious and I don't think anyone would paint her as an asshole to Sebastian if she wasn't picking up how Sebastian was feeling when she's juggling her own stuff.

So like, in that same vein, Demetrius has his issues, but when Sebastian in game just straight up says Demetrius isn't his real father (when he has a half sister who isn't that much younger than him, implying Demetrius has been with the family for awhile and is otherwise happily married to his mom), where Sebastian often isolates from the whole family and not just his step-dad, and Demetrius has issues communicating with his family and hes got a book in his room about how to be a better step-dad, I think its kinda fair to assume it isn't that simple.

I'm not gonna lie: it kind of sucks that a lot of SDV Fics and even Mods have instances where Demetrius is straight up abusive to Sebastian and people have coded actual divorce mods for him and Robin when like, canonically he doesn't do those things? He's painted so aggressive and it sucks. Like yeah, the game touches on his favoritism with his biological daughter, there is no doubt thats an issue and Sebastian laments this a lot, but I don't see why that means he also has to be cruel to Sebby, or like Robin would still be with him and just Let Him abuse her son? His scenes suggest like, at worst that he's incredibly oblivious and bad at communication, at worst he's no more flawed than other adults in SDV.

Which sucks even MORE because there actually IS a character who is seen struggling to be nice to their child - a few actually!- but specifically Pam, with ACTUAL angry sprites and topics of being harsh to Penny in her heart event (you literally can call her out on it if you upgrade their house) and while sometimes people can be nasty to Pam about it, I don't see nearly the same vitriol so like. HMM.

It'd be nice to see Demetrius and Sebastian interact more friendly, even if its awkward. Like, Demetrius of all people would probably understand Sebastian's job in programming and computer science given that one of his own main recipes is a Farm Computer and Maru ALSO dabbles in robotics. I'm positive that if he has any issues, it's because he thinks he ought to be more logical and not coding games, but still, you can address one form of bad parenting without making up another to add onto it lmao

20. What would you like to see/have seen in a continuation?

Aside from the obvious “finish the story” in a general sense, i i really would like to see actual previous WR character’s present and expanded on if we assume a number of them did stay with Tezla. And honeslty, not even in a “they are all Silencers” way? bc i think that would be boring if they all were Silencerz. i also wouldve liked to have seen some solid cross team friendships form between individuals (vert and markie for example) because it never felt like anyone was really that close even though they started to work together at the end.

16. Any crossover/AU ideas?

i obviously explained a markie/kurt swap which is a sorta AU, so i wont go over that one again but. heres a few quick ideas i have on mind!

AU where Taro is Zed-36 instead of Kurt (based on my the comic theory/headcanon i posted)

complete team swap AU. Teku guys and now MM, MM guys is now Teku. sounds like a mess but also a fun way to push some characters tbh.

Gelorum/Tezla AU swap... They actually are the same (gelorum is still a drone) but their intentions are swapped. Tezla is the antagonist and managed to control the drone army while Gelorum is ‘good’ (as good as tezla was in canon lol) and gathers humans to help her. more complex than that but thats the basics

i would love to think of crossovers but i just dont like enough fandoms i feel would work lol... but i do think a crossover/AU with other existing HW stories would be cool, i loved Velocity X and it has a real cool aesthetic too which feels in line with Acceleracers. seeing those stories/worlds crossover would be neat.

4. Favorite & least favorite character(s)?

Most Favorite - Kurt Wylde because im predictable. i think hes a character with the most potential and also most interesting development even with where it lacks! of course ive spoken of what i would want to change, but i still like him a lot

Least Favorite - ok i dont want to be simple and say like.. Sparky/Monkey/Porkchop because theyre annoying comedic relief... so picking a character i genuinely dont care for that much uhhh it would have to be Nolo... as i have explained i just do not like his attitude through 90% of the movies. and i blame more of that on poor writing, because he did a complete 180 after somehow forgiving Tork which made no sense, but it didnt change my impression of him lol. i like the fanon but not the canon.

6. Favorite & least favorite realm(s)?

(Neon) Pipeline realm would be least favorite i think... in terms of like, idk i just found it very boring to watch? it felt like it would be cool but the whole scene with it was kinda lacking (aside from giving Silencerz stuff) and i think couldve been tackled in a much cooler way. Second to that would be Cavern Realm but its only because it was in a minisode that got no screen time and seemed very boring anways

Favorite in general would be Warped Realm! but thats from the cards only and i just think it sounds really cool. from the movies, i would pick the Metro Realm. even tho i felt it wouldve been nice to explore deeper (and got sidetracked to plot stuff i wasnt super into watching lol) its a favorite for how weird it is. i cant be the only one who found it super ominous?? the robotic traffic and stuff.. really weird and i like the slightly off-putting vibes

Hearing that the R***o fandom is running massive block chains explains so much. I’m not saying they’re a small part of the fandom (there’s clearly a considerable amount of them) but I feel like they’ve created such large echo chambers on Twitter and other social media to the point where they’ve articifically inflated their sense of importance in the fandom. Of course it’s going to seem like everyone online is obsessed with their ship when they’ve blocked anyone else otherwise.

The idea that Disney/LF is going to bend over backwards to please them is absurd. Disney is a massive corporation that has proven in the past to do whatever it can to make the most money, even if that involves making bland content that appeals to wide audiences in only the most general way (like all their live action remakes). If the R***o fandom was really the cash cow they believe themselves to be then Disney would milk that. The fact they haven’t and are actively trying to avoid anything to do with R***o moving forward says that every other aspect of the fandom is more profitable.

Although they got some “win” from TROS there was the alternative ending where there was no kiss and the novelisation described it as a friendly one, plus it’s never been mentioned again. Valentines Day was a great example of how all of these different couples were given the spotlight and R***o was not one of them. I know that corner of the fandom tends to be more rabid than others, especially on social media, but if Disney really wanted to cater to them they would’ve posted something.

I’m also surprised that so many of them are obsessed with the RJ trilogy as it has been mentioned in the past to be completely unrelated to the main saga (and their precious Ben) assuming it happens at all. I feel like they’re just hoping there’s another white girl they can project onto with a white villain they can ship again. I doubt it will be made though. The fact it was announced before TLJ had even come out and ever since the backlash it’s barely been mentioned is odd. There have been waves of new content been announced and no word of it. And looking at the future release schedule there’s no room for it. It seems odd that they haven’t confirmed anything. Is it because they’re afraid of fandom backlash because that’s gonna happen either way if they do it now or in 5 years. I don’t foresee TLJ growing on people the same way the PT has done. Although I’m sure R***o’s will still be around (unless the have another abusive white/het ship to project onto).

like im all for blocking whoever you want to make your online experience enjoyable but theres something about reylos running blockchains that really rubs me the wrong way! the reason i block reylos is because they have a history of harassing me and the more of them i block, the less likely that becomes. but reylos have creating this insular community for themselves where they have little to no contact with sw fans beyond each other and thats how they can become so convinced their fanon is canon. and thats probably also why they feel so slighted by the sw twitter - no one cares about reylo except for them. 

they see rian as some sort of hero to them (which is still weird as hell to me because he essentially ended tlj with rey and kylo splitting up permanently but whatever) but yeah thats probably why they’re into it. and that tells me so much about them. they dont actually care about reylo, they care about the specific dynamic and thats why these people jump from fandom to fandom. 

im kinda of the mind that his trilogy won’t happen. or like i said, if it does they’re going to wait and see if the backlash toward him will die down. i agree that tlj isn’t going to grow on people. its going to cause controversy for a long, long time and might become like aou where people begin realizing how stupid it is, especially compared to other better movies in the same franchise.

just like nishinoya and tanaka pined over kiyoko, a few of the boys from other teams tried to get with you numerous times.

you’d just sigh and wave your hand, walking the other direction. a protective nishinoya and tanaka ( and even sometimes daichi if the rival teams were bothering you too much ) would come up behind you, blocking their view of you and warning them to leave you alone.

you’d never had a boyfriend in the past, or a fling, or any type of talking phase. this was because of the fact you liked to keep your distance from others, not keen to the idea of letting anyone in on a whim.

it was the day of the practice match against against aoba johsai. the boys were all a bit worried, as it was a powerhouse. but you weren’t as worried because now they they didn’t have their setter and captain, oikawa; who everyone called king of the court.

you were at the vending machine buying milk and water for kageyama and hinata when you heard a voice behind you.

“well hello, i haven’t seen you before,”

you rolled your eyes and turned to face the voice, realizing it was indeed oikawa. you’d guessed he’d arrived during the last few minutes of the game. you looked up at him and crossed your arms.

fukurōdani academy, ubugawa high, shinzen high and nekoma high were supposed to be attending.

your bag on your shoulder started to slip a bit, and you reached to grab it, but it fell. letting out a groan, you bent down; only to be met with another hand reaching for it as well.

you were met with the same hazel eyes from a few weeks ago, and you stiffened immediately.

“i got it,” you managed to let out, but he grabbed the bag before you could.

“no, you’re obviously struggling, i got it.” he smiled and stood up, helping you to your feet.

“thank you,” you smiled shyly, following the boy inside.

the boys stood there confused, watching you walk with him.

“you guys are gonna catch flies if you don’t close your mouths!” bokuto said, appearing next to them.

“dude.. she never lets anyone carry her shit..” nishinoya said, looking up at tanaka.

a few months had passed, and to everyone’s ( including your own ) surprise, you and kuroo started dating.

it was like a schoolgirl love to you, sneaking kisses at at games, him taking you on lunch dates, the karasuno boys yelling at you when you wore his jersey, and your friends loving him.

he never failed to be there for you, and tell you how much he loved you, knowing you needed a lot of reassurance. you two clicked so fast that you were hanging out with him and nekoma more than karasuno.

“babeee,” he whined as you continued to ignore him.

“what kuroo.” the boy winced at the use of his last name, which you only used when you were mad or upset.

“all i did was say hi to her! she was a fan in the stands that’s all.” you huffed and turned to face him, crossing your arms. “i only have eyes for you my love. you don’t have to worry.” he said softly, wrapping his arms around you.

you smiled at the sentence, melting into his hug.

“you promise?” you asked, the ache in your chest subsiding.

“i promise.” he kissed your forehead and rocked the two of you back and forth gently.

miu being the mastermind is something i had for my own rewrite like with my oc but also i really like the idea, we could also have her do something with kiibo at some point like install a virus on him or wtvr that would make him kill someone? because she operates on him in the game anyway so having her do so and then have that fall into place later but like not give him time to say somethingabout it is really fun to me

kirumi i dont really have a reason for her being the first victim other than im a sucker for kirukiyo and i think he'd be pretty distressed that she died (im being very self indulgent here but we can change this if u want to, idk ur opinions on kirukiyo so !!! its up to u), we could also do something where the murders happened at almost the exact same time so he could have saved her if he had just been somewhere instead of trying to kill someone for his sister to have another "friend" in the afterlife

rantaro i wanted to die at some point but not at the start, in part bc i love him but also because i think itd be really interesting if he was killed in ch 5 instead of kokichi because he has a lot of importance too, right? so i think a killing with him could be just as good, he could have helped the killer because he wanted them to try to find out the mastermind during his trial or something idk. still in speculation but i think it would be cool

YOURE SO CORRDCT ON RANTARO BTW his character generally suffers from the fact he was killed off way at the beginning, and ugshdh he could have done. so much. if he was left alive a little longer. i’ve said this before but that’s a common issue just in general with the type of game danganronpa is especially with the writers not adjusting the arcs for their allotted time which causes me PAIN. yeah leave him alive for longer for sure. and oooo i like rantaro, i think he could go either way being a killer or victim. especially if at the end of it all no matter how it goes down, hes wrong. whether he kills the wrong person, or if he’s caught in the middle of a planned murder and happens to be collateral damage/the mistaken victim while he’s trying to go after the mastermind and either way their only lead to the mastermind is now just gone

one of the things i do really like about v3 despite all my criticisms against it, is the fake-out protagonist. i’m not saying we have kaede die again or shuichi goes in her place, but i think it’d be cool to include something like that with one of the cast members? maybe kaito? idk im throwing things at the wall rn but basically im trying to figure out a way to have a character haunt the narrative like kaede did

yeah i ahev no clue about protags either yet, we can always just figure that out down the line sometime🎉🎉🎉

god am i gonna need to go with the sequals too? just og or all ships that’re considered canon by the end? whatever i’ll just go in order in what might be the ‘canon’ ships from all three of these categories. this is gonna be fucking long so anything and everything is under the cut. also i’m SO not gonna add hiveswap that can be its own separate ask. so:

roxygen: it’s a cute ship...but the sequal vers is garbage considering how inconsiderate roxy is to john’s feelings and his house burning down like damn rox this is the guy who sat with ya as ya mourned doom rose’s death give the guy some fuckin time himself.

rosemary: also cute ship...sequal versions are fuckin godawful tho. their barely a thing in meat from wha i can gather and then there’s candy...oh CANDY kanaya deserves better fuck this sense of her sayin she’s over it idc if it was off screen, even then half the cast ate stupid pills during that time so WHY must i be surprised that this is wha happens?

dave/kat: i dun like it. in either universe. meat is just perfect gay bois who have occasional deep talks and literally do nothing else while candy they split up thanks to jade which, geez ya guys must’ve been shit to tell her to fuck off like come on. og hs wise i barely consider them canon if we only get pictures and them just being on equal footing on quadrant talk. not to mention dave implied to be crushing on jade and JOHN not karkat, idk where this couple even came from other then love triangle situation with terezi but like, that’s barely much of a reason to become canon. i’d go with em bein pale/moirails more.

jadedave: i’m guessing candy and meat i thought meat implied they were dating but may aswell. so....it sucks but thats because candy and meat suck, meat dave’s basically cheating on her i didnt hear any implication they broke up and she’s like...chill??? and then there’s candy where she literally forced him and kar to break up and dated after dirk apparently died, i do not like the implications of this whole thing. course candy dave is dead and a robot now so...anyways canon wise dave had a crush on her and if jade does like him i’d hope it’s not cause of davesprite cause despite both being dave’s they were different. it’s cute otherwise.

davepetajade: it’s...cute? i guess? idk i kinda found davepeta a bit...idk overwhelmingly overrated? like i know where their popularity came from but readin the series now after all that hype i dont really see it anyways tho it’s basically davespritejade with nepeta in the mix. and idk nothin implied much of nepeta liking jade, or talkin to her much. and davepetasprite is a mesh of both so idk. it’s a ship with cute fanon works of em hanging with outfits but that’s bout it.

janejake: i hate it. legit. this is disgusting and completely throws out jane’s character. like even in the fixed timeline the talk she had with dirk probably still happened on the god bed’s and how she acknowledged wha she thought was wrong on wantin jake’s kids and so on trickster still happened and how she also realized she might’ve overhyped jake. but lets throw it ALL out the window to force jake in an unhappy marriage in both universes and possibly force him to stay in candy due to having tavvy if i’m reading the implications right. even then jake isn’t good for jane either both got their own needs this ship would’ve been sunked in canon and WAS but the sequals are beyond it so maybe that explains it but it disgusts me.

roseterezi: guess in meat specifically. yeah i kinda dont...care for it, like i still cant tell if rose and kanaya broke up or if she just fucked off without breaking up either one is fucked up on kan’s behalf. even then i just dont care for their kismesis it got brought up once and that was it.

jaderose: candy wise i guess even tho it was a fling. it disgusts me still mostly because of kan’s behalf on bein fucked over and both goin through a ‘surrogation’ process without her notice. like fuck this shit the jaderose fans deserve better.

roxycallie: idk if this one’s canon but it’s heavily implied callie lives with roxy least in candy. it’s cute, cant deny it even in og it was pretty cute, dont really care for candy vers tho but then again maybe their not a couple in it idk what’s canon couples anymore.

im not new to having a favorite character whose more or less claimed to have had a lot of potential but losing it in canon bc of, for a lack of a more general term, ‘’bad writing’’. and im not saying kny has bad writing, i dont think im one to judge that JUST yet but for comparison yall should know that i have a fav character in another series that is written so badly that he has the personality of cardboard and was only given life thanks to fanon content. and i dont blame people when they say they dont like said character! its the same as zenitsu, only that this guy, this yellow idiot, actually has a much more solid grasp on how he acts/feels/does things! but more often than not, this linear perspective does damage to how deep his character actually goes, thus just making him the stereotypical ‘pervert’ in an anime. ive seen people say that he’s just the same as mineta!!! which is just. very sad for me

i understand why they’d think like that though, maybe there wouldve been a difference if kny became more popular b4 bnha, but who knows! anyways, back to zenitsu. now, i understand if people ever found his actions uncomfortable or annoying! but when people say that he’s just a crybaby and that he’s literally just dead weight that’s when i get,,, well, iffy. and this is kinda where the frustration comes, we see zenitsu overcoming these obstacles off screen, apparently it was even only just mentioned in a passing comment that zenitsu had stopped having to fall asleep to do missions and cried less when he was going on solo missions. these are the tidbits that i wish was shown more explicitly in canon, showcasing his growth and such. MAYBE it was touched upon once kaigaku came up, but thats another problem, literally kaigaku only showed up once in a flashback and then suddenly he’s a demon? sure a brief flashback that showed him being in gyomei’s orphanage wouldve been enough to put some light, but i think there was still some things that wasnt touched upon when we discuss how kaigaku was portrayed in canon. i think he’s even MORE misunderstood compared to zenitsu. they have (arguably) been in the same situation in their childhood, have drastically different personalities and dealt with it in their own way, but in the end i think he was just used so that zenitsu had a big bad he had to defeat. i think there wouldve been more impact if we were shown thunder fam interacting more, imagine how cool that wouldve been, ESPECIALLY if kaigaku just wasnt thrown into the manga and was given a chance to interact with kamaboko before hand. just, a lot to think about.

and now we have what happened in the last few chapters, w tanjirou becoming a demon and after all that zenitsu just says something along the lines of ‘ill make u pay for hurting me and my future wife (nezuko)’ which sucks to a degree. but count the fact that gotoge was inching towards zennezu, as i mentioned in a previous post, he was worried about nezuko getting hurt by tanjirou. im also a bit disappointed that he didnt really do much in terms of, well, caring for tanjirou, but one GOOD thing that i really liked happening was in the previous chapters bEFORE tan got turned to a demon, the part w him assuring inosuke that he can still hear tanjirou’s heartbeat, and then consecutively screaming at tanjirou that he had to stay alive, he went as far to say that he hears nezuko’s human heartbeat and that he has a family to return to, which was, surprise surprise, apparently somewhat a LIE! i cant confirm this unfortunately since ive long since lost the explanation but someone said that zenitsu wasnt actually able to hear nezuko’s heartbeat then, meaning he lied for tanjirou’s sake bc he knew that if he’d pull through something, he’d pull through it for nezuko. (there’s also that part where zenitsu fought hard to keep this family alive since well, he doesnt have one to return to, which is just. ouch) another thing i liked about this part is that he wasnt!!! crying!!!, but both inosuke and tanjirou were and dont u just love the irony. dont u just love it when zenitsu, resident crybaby of the demon slayer corps, is the one who shouts at the both of his friends, who are usually the ones pushing him, yelling at him to stop sniveling and fight, to raise their chins up and to not give up? i think these few moments are JUST ABSOLUTELY TASTY. 

but. unfortunately, they are glossed over once we have what happened in chapter 203.

tl/dr; zenitsu’s character is something much more than a crybaby who’s a pervert and annoying. these points overshadow the fact that he’s a kind person, who was willing to protect nezuko despite knowing she was a demon just BECAUSE he trusted tanjirou that much and that he had a kind sound! he’s willingly THROWN HANDS when someone talked bad about kaigaku, a person he ADMITTED HE HATES, because he respects them as a person! zenitsu is much more than a crybaby who’s a pervert and annoying. if only canon were able to explain much more clearly than these few tidbits that we were given.

//im crying at the club im so sorry this is so long oh god oh fuck. anyways ive been disappointed time and time again and ive long since really stopped looking forward to the best to my fav characters and ive been p negative in previous fandoms so its why i avoided complaining like this in this blog but yeah kjfhkjsdf thank u for reading,,,
