I think aspec people in fandoms should be allowed to complain about how much of fandom is about shipping and I don't think it has to be taken as an attack on people who do enjoy shipping. I'm not really in any fandoms so I don't have a lot to say but often I think about how yeah shipping can be an interesting way to explore the characters but at the same time if the only value you see in a story is making characters kiss that's kind of a shallow way to enjoy it. At the end of the day there is a healthy balance

the most unnerving part of myhouse.pk3 for me was when a random closet suddenly opened into an expansive non-euclidean maze. the music cuts out and there is no sound whatsoever, just complete silence. all the walls and floors are a cold Brutalist grey, and there's barely enough light to tell where you're going.

you wander and wander through samey corridors, but as you go even deeper, the doorways and halls start to stretch and shrink. random ramps and stairs lead to nowhere in particular, random pillars supporting nothing, thresholds too small to enter and archways much too large to have any reasonable purpose.

eventually you stumble into an absolutely giant room, a room so expansive that you cannot see the other side through the darkness. after a considerable length of time running, you finally reach the opposite wall, where absolutely nothing greets you. as you blindly wander around this void of a room, you suddenly are greeted by this:

a massive hole in the floor. you can see what appears to be a staircase leading down into it. as you peer down the pit, the staircase forms a spiral downward, and all you can see...

...is nothing.

at this point, you might consider trying to return to the house like i did, because nothing good could possibly await you at the bottom. but we both know that's not an option. as you descend into the abyss, the house almost seems like a distant memory at this point. climbing down and down, being careful not to slip... but this is doom you're playing, and doomguy is a little slippery to control.

so down you fall.

alright so.

for those unfamiliar, "incarceration of a flower child" is a song that was released in 1999 and performed by marianne faithfull, but it was written by roger in 1968. if you follow pink floyd lore at all and you you have not listened to this song, I'm gonna need you to stop reading this, go listen to it, and come back.

so. as you may have noticed. that's a familiar tune. familiar lyrics in fact. although roger never released it himself, aspects of this song appear in the wall (e.g., outside the wall), the final cut (e.g., your possible pasts), and even his solo the pros & cons of hitchiking (e.g., 4:50 am). clearly, this song is very meaningful to him, enough to pepper it across his discography.

you may have also noticed, depending on how knowledgeable you are on pink floyd lore, that this is definitely one of roger's many syd songs (and one of the most emotionally raw ones, I'd even say). the song was written in 1968, the year syd "left" the band, and it grapples with the loss of innocence and feelings of grief and anger over losing someone to mental health issues (marianne faithfull was nearly an "acid casualty" herself, which is probably why the song resonated with her enough to pull it out of hiding). so yah. it's a syd song.

as for the "mpreg" thing, that's me exaggerating for comedic purposes about this first stanza in the song:

Do you remember me? How we used to be helpless and happy and blind? Sunk without hope in a haze of good dope and cheap wine? Laying on the living-room floor on those Indian tapestry cushions you made Thinking of calling our firstborn Jasmine or Jade

since this song is about roger and syd, and seems to be recalling a specific memory, it begs the question of who was the "mom" in this jasmine and jade fantasy of theirs, among other things. it certainly isn't an out-of-character conversation for them to have, given we know that syd wasn't particularly concerned with gender conformity. I hesitate to do a lot of speculation about syd, since he's had enough of that already, but I would really love to ask roger about this line in the song, and what the story is behind it.

I made the post because I realized roger's never actually talked about the song at all, which seems notable given how much its woven into his music.

the most frustrating relationships in the world are ones where you're not close but you see each other fairly often and enjoy hanging out, but the other person is someone you cannot talk to honestly about ANYTHING so the best you can do is play stupid like you don't even know what's happening when they try to be manipulative/involve you in drama. it's so needlessly stressful and i am way too old to be putting up with this but it seems too infrequent and low level of an offense to just blow up the whole thing
