why—in character x reader social media band AUs—is it always the character that’s in a band?

why not the reader? is the reader not allowed to live the indie rockstar life and make eye contact from up upon a stage, like a god with the bright lights behind them?

why can’t the character be the one that runs a stan account? either totally supporting their oshi(reader) or subtweeting how infuriating they find the reader? do you people feel nothing for fell first AND fell harder tropes on the character’s side anymore??

In the spirit of every goddamn IP under the sun getting a reboot (and the fact that I’m watching DW for the first time in 2024), I am taking it upon myself to reboot the SuperWhoLock fandom.

Like most reboots the politics will be updated and there will be some fun homages to the original. But rest assured we’ll have typical reboot problems like ignoring a big chunk of the original material (NO Sherlock fans will actually be allowed. Of course) and making arbitrary changes for the sake of “refreshing” the image

hey tumblr.... this is so beyond what i normally post, but my roommate (@stqrrynightss ) and i made this awful beautiful twine game based on a silly inside joke that got way too much traction within the apartment. she did a majority of the fancy coding and writing and i chimed in every now and then <3

there are many different options to explore and i believe five (?) different endings. there IS a good ending but it is so so hard to achieve (done on purpose). best of luck.

having been into d20 for nearly 5 years now its getting hard to take all the drama seriously. i swear to god every single season there is some vicious discourse, and half the fandom decides the season is problematic garbage and the players are stupid and brennan cant write. 6 months after the finale and its all "best season yet" and "i miss it already". this has happened every single time.

Being Swedish, I was of course very excited to read Dominion and finally getting to see a DW story which takes place 'round my neck of the woods—and looking forward to being smug about nitpicking all the insignificant details. Disappointingly though, it turns out the book is very accurate.

Except when I got to the part where they need to catch the bus, and I did a double take:

Because I thought we had another "rolled up a pound to snort coke" situation on our hands; all my life, 10 kr have only been available as (quite small) coins:

But then I vaguely remembered listening to my parents reminiscing at some point, and lo and behold: we used to have 10 kr notes too!

So is this book period accurate then? No! :) But only by the most fantastically infinitesimal margin: it was published on 10 May 1999, and later on the same page we find out that the story takes place on 31 July that same year:

Note: it's right he should be able to get this despite the TARDIS translation not working; July is called juli in Swedish—or ig the date could be in all number format.

Only problem is, the last 10 kr notes were demonetized on 31 December 1998. So at time of writing, the book was probably factually accurate, but by the time it was published (and in canon), it was outdated by exactly 130 days (alt. 212 days).

This is, frankly, hilarious and I'm so glad I get to be pedantic about it. Suck it Walters, bow down before my vastly superior intellect and online resources!

Alternatively, a watsonian explanation would be that the Doctor paid for the bus fare with invalid cash, that the driver accepted anyway because "Vafan, just get these jävla tourists out of the way—I've got a timetable to keep!"

Which would be a very in character thing for 8 to do, ngl. Either way this whole thing is just brilliant, 11/10, no notes.

i love when i hear about a fandom, and i take a peek at some the stuff people have made for it, and i go "yeah, sure, thats fine. not really my cup of tea but i can see the appeal"

and then later down the line, after seeing it keep coming up, i go and read the original source materialn and i go "wait, hang on, this rules."

and it turns out the reason i wasnt interested in it was because the derivative works were missing half the point of the source material, and had sanded off the good bits for fluff.

hi!! I made a big ol list-style document of every episode and the possible connection to plant based symbolism and the victorian flower language!! I may try to keep up with it, however it won’t be like a chapter update per episode, it’ll be one page added that I’m editing with each episode I’m guessing, so it’s not a million pages long :•>

When I first said I didn't like a certain transmisogyny related set of acronyms because they felt exclusionary, I got a lot of negative feedback, and some people insisted that I was being transmisogynistic or even a threat to trans women, and that I need to listen to trans women.

And I thought, okay. People are being really harsh with me right now but maybe I do need to learn more about this.

So I started paying attention to what the trans women on my dash were saying. I read the 'discourse' posts. I followed a couple of blogs that use that language to see what they were all about

On one hand, I did learn a lot about transmisogyny and intersectionality, but on the other hand I saw that the folks using these acronyms do not speak for all trans women. I saw some trans women on my dash directly calling out that terminology for the same reasons I did.

I saw people using that terminology saying exclusionary and transphobic and intersexist things about other trans people and about intersex people.

So in the end, my opinion has not changed.

I am trying to listen to trans women, but they don't always all agree. And I think I agree with the ones who don't like that language
