When I was young enough to be apart from modern feminism (read: off the internet) I learned about traditional feminism (we’ll call it). “Of course a woman can be a mechanic. Hell, she might be better at it than you. Anything a man can do, a woman can do just as well. Free the nipple. Women can do STEM jobs just as well as men; they only haven’t because they’ve lacked the opportunity and they’ve been discriminated against every step of the way.” I think of this as World War II feminism, mentally represented by that “We can do it!” poster.
Modern feminism is a different beast. “She doesn’t need to be manly to be strong!” turned into “Why would she want to be manly?” turned into “Why does she need to be strong?” “Women are kind and good and wouldn’t hurt a fly (unlike those horrible MEN). Women are girly and cutesy and demure”—let’s pause here for a second so I can mention how much I loathe that whole demure trend (and the word itself)—“and it’s okay to be hyperfeminine! It’s GOOD to be hyperfeminine! In fact, you should lean as hard as you can into the stereotypes! You’re allowed!”
“Girl math” and “girl logic” and “I’m just a girl” are the new “you hit like a girl” and “are you gonna cry? Like a girl?” (or whatever) but they’re being used by women on themselves. And like. Nobody has to be good at everything. It’s fine and often (though not always) beneficial to embrace being bad at things. But it’s a problem when that embracing is ONLY coming with femininity. If a man says “I’m just a girl” he’s having a moment and joking about it in a feminine (and therefore humorous) way. But that’s the problem—it’s feminine. There’s no manly way to be bad at things. “I’m just a silly little guy” or similar didn’t take off in nearly the same way even though it was popular enough that it could have (and notice the diminutives? Even as a hypothetical it doesn’t work if it’s fully masculine).
Men and women should both be able to embrace being bad at things, having moments, being tired or silly or embarrassed, without it having anything to do with gender. We still haven’t escaped that dichotomy of man = strong and woman = weak and it’s just. exhausting sometimes.
As someone in and around their 30’s it has been INSANE to see feminism in popular media descend through
Women can wear pants and play sports and that’s equality. Women don’t just belong inside the house. This woman has a career
This woman can be a mechanic just like a man could. She’s probably still a lesbian, though, which is basically the closest to a man a woman can *be*, and explains everything. But she’s still a person!
If a woman superhero CHOOSES to wear stilettos to fight crime, that’s girl power! This comic character written and designed by men wears a bikini and has a waist size of 12 inches because it makes her FEEL POWERFUL! Girls don’t HAVE to dress boyish to be strong! She can make you a sandwich AND be a feminist! Girl power!
What, are you saying women HAVE to do boy things to be taken seriously? Who are you to tell a woman what to do? Maybe some women NEED to get their hair and nails done twice a month to feel powerful! Maybe a lot of women WANT to be stay-at-home moms!
What I don’t think you understand is that women have an inherent feminine spirituality which guides them towards maternal and nurturing paths. Women need to honour their divine female aura to keep their. Their fuckin. Their chakras together or some shit. You should put quartz up your hooha and huff wheatgrass. Leaving manual labour and science and technology to men is natural and good for you spiritually
Uh she can’t do that, that’s a blue job, she’s a pink job girly. Food? Yeah, she’s having #girl dinner, which is a handful of almonds. Time for our 15 step skincare routine, which is empowering. Hashtag #girlboss. Ew no, touching dirt? She’s just a girl. You can’t expect a girl to do that. Haha #girl logic

ᡣ𐭩 Pure fluff!! Leon takes your makeup off for you
WC: 700+
NOTE: this is completely self indulgent because i do in fact love doing a full face of makeup it’s so fun (*ᴗ͈ˬᴗ͈) um lowkey think the tags are pretty dead right now but it’s okay idm
MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Putting makeup on is always fun, but laziness sets in whenever the time to wash it all off arrives. You wish you could cover your ears and sing ‘la la la, I can’t hear you’ to the knowledge that sleeping with a full face was in fact harmful to your skin. But you couldn’t. The world is becoming more and more advanced but they still haven’t been able to create products that you can sleep with? What a joke.
You’re cuddling with Leon, smushing yourself against his chest, your dolled up face threatening to smudge foundation and powder all over his shirt.
“I’m so tired, Leon. I wanna go to sleep.”
“And what’s stopping you?”
“This.” You say in a grumpy tone, lifting your face and looking up at him through your false lashes.
“Ah. Don’t pout, I’ll take it off for you.” He smiled fondly at you, holding you as he stood up from the bed. Leon was well aware you didn’t want to get up, so he easily scooped you into his strong arms, carrying you over to the bathroom and setting you down on the closed lid of the toilet. You didn’t even have to move an inch or ask him to do anything. What a man.
Leon hadn’t known much about makeup removal prior to dating you, but he was pretty much an expert now. Micellar water, cleanser, face wash, and then tons of kisses to your face was the solution. He was smart, a quick learner, he was sure he even knew how to apply your makeup just the way you liked it at this point just by observing you. His hands were steady, they had to be in order for him to have a good aim when the world was in peril…surely doing your makeup wouldn’t be too difficult, right?
He washed his hands thoroughly then pat them before going over to you, the scent of soap lingered on his skin.
“Close your eyes, princess.” Once you did, he carefully took your falsies off. He always felt a bit uneasy at this step, what if he hurt you or accidentally pulled your actual lashes off? He’d never hear the end of it.
He put some micellar water onto a cotton pad. One of his hands held onto your jaw oh so gently, making you tilt your head back a bit. He couldn’t resist, leaning down momentarily to steal a kiss from your pouty lips, you were always so sulky when you were tired. But his sweet gesture made you smile.
“There’s my girl, you’re so pretty when you smile.”
“So I’m not pretty when I’m not smiling?”
“You’re cute when you’re sulking and pretty when you smile.”
“What about when I’m mad?”
“Adorable. Like…” He tried to come up with an example. “When a kitten tries to scratch at you but it’s too cute to do any damage.”
Silence followed, you couldn’t make a comeback so you just changed the topic instead. Typical.
“Would you ever let me do your eyeliner?” You asked, relishing the way he tilted your face side to side to ensure he was running the cotton pad over all areas of your face.
“Mm…” He hummed in thought, purposely taking a long time to answer. “Yeah, I would. Why? You wanna make me look all pretty like you?”
“You’re already really pretty, silly. I’ve always told you that you’d totally rock the eyeliner look.”
He would. Eye makeup would look amazing on him. Or maybe having that cute cupid’s bow of his be more pronounced with some lip liner. You secretly hoped he would never ask you to put foundation on him though, maybe you were being a bit hypocritical but you internally couldn’t help it! Leon was crafted with so many dreamy details. You were blessed enough to have the chance to see them up close and adore them. The faint set of wrinkles between his brows from the stress of his job that made him furrow his eyebrows all the time, all the little acne scars and skin imperfections he held. You’d be devastated if he hid them all. But the most he has asked is for you to use concealer on his eye-bags.
“Maybe tomorrow then, if you’re up for it?”
“Okay! Um, I might mess up a bit though…my hand gets all shaky.”
“That’s what this micellar water is for, isn’t it?”
He rubbed off all your makeup, admiring all your natural features that shone through. Leon had always been attracted to your talent of applying makeup, having watched you switch styles and improve over time. He always liked sitting with you as you did your makeup, you always acted like you were doing some type of YouTube tutorial and he found it so fucking cute. Like, he would smooch you over and over if he wouldn’t be putting your routine into jeopardy. The surge of affection that rushed through him when he laid eyes on your bare face was indescribable.
Gorgeous. Cute. Pretty. Beautiful. All of the above, he wished there was a word that combined all of those into one.

it's silly but the biggest reason why im not into t yet is bc im so afraid of losing my hair. do you have any solutions/tips for it?
first of all, i don’t think it’s silly — it’s natural to be worried when hair loss is talked about by so many people as like…one of the worst results of aging for men. listening to my dad talk about how much he hates balding definitely did not make me feel particularly good about the knowledge that i may very well be joining him someday. i’m not saying the fear is right, because i don’t think hair loss is something awful that we should avoid at all costs, but it’s an understandable fear given the beauty standards we’re working with, and it’s one that a lot of us (myself included) feel.
one thing that’s helped me is just…paying more attention to the guys that i interact with on a daily basis. i’ve learned two things from it: 1) hair loss is super fucking common. i’d say it’s much harder to find an adult man who isn’t balding at all than it is to find one who’s completely bald. and 2) if you forget everything you’ve been told about how bad hair loss is, you’ll realize that quite frankly, every single one of those guys looks totally fucking fine. it doesn’t ruin their appearance and make them ugly, it looks totally natural and isn’t really even something you’d notice if you weren’t looking for it. we put so much weight on it but it’s really just not that big of a deal. i’ll hear my parents talk shit about men in my family who are losing their hair when i didn’t even notice a difference last time i saw them. it’s one of those things (like so many other appearance-related things) that you really only notice at all because you’ve been taught that you’re supposed to care about it.
this isn’t something i’ve done personally, but if you really want to desensitize yourself to the idea of it, embrace the time-honored queer tradition of just shaving your whole damn head! find out what you’d look like without hair, find out how you feel about it and what you can do that makes you feel good about your appearance without hair, test the waters while it’s still a temporary change and not something permanent. that way, it won’t feel like this big scary unknown, and you’ll actually have a frame of reference for your feelings about how you look without hair rather than accepting the societal assumption that you’ll inevitably hate it. if you don’t want to actually shave your head, you could also just fuck around with bald filters or photoshop and see what happens.
oh, and if you’re attracted to men, keep an eye out for guys who are bald or balding and also hot as fuck. in my experience, there’s no insecurity or potential future insecurity that being gay for other men hasn’t helped me with. just off the top of my head, i can think of a couple actors who i think are absolutely fucking gorgeous who have helped me get over my fears about losing my hair. despite what our anti-aging-obsessed world might want you to think, there is no such thing as a physical feature that automatically makes someone less attractive, and while making attractiveness less of a priority in your life is good, it can’t hurt to also give yourself some proof that actually, you might lose your hair and look hot as hell doing it.
basically, entertain the possibility that it won’t be a bad thing at all! whether that’s just because it turns out to be a neutral thing for you or because you end up actually liking it, it’s not an inherently bad thing. i’ve ended up liking a lot of things that were “supposed to” be bad effects of t — i love the weight i’ve gained and the new shape it gives my body, i get a lot of gender euphoria from the fact that my acne is now on parts of my face that i saw a lot of guys in high school get it and i’m not complaining about the scars i get from it either because i’ve always liked the added texture that acne scars give my skin, and so on. i think there’s a lot of joy to be had in the changes we’re taught to fear, once we look past that conditioning and actually explore how we feel about it.
but if it’s something you really don’t want and you just want to improve your chances of not having to deal with it, it’s not like there’s nothing you can do! products like finasteride (oral) and minoxidil (usually topical but i think there might also be oral versions) are pretty commonly used among trans guys, for the purpose of avoiding hair loss and for other reasons, and there are plenty of other anti-hair loss products out there (though i don’t know how effective any one of them might be). if it’s a big enough deal for you, you can just decide that you’ll go off of t if/when you start noticing signs of it, since no longer having higher t levels would stop the process in its tracks. and if you don’t find prevention options that work for you so it ends up happening, you can always explore different hair styles (judging by the pattern of hair loss i see in my family, i suspect that keeping my hair long would make it less obvious if i started losing mine), find your preferred method of covering it when you don’t feel good about it (personally i love a good beanie generally and would probably wear them a lot more if i didn’t have hair to worry about because my main complaint is the way they press my hair onto my neck), or just shave it all off if you don’t like the look of the partial balding but don’t mind a shaved head. the point being — you have options!
at the end of the day, whether you go on t or not, you’re going to see your body change as you age in ways that aren’t always going to be attractive to others or aesthetically pleasing to you. that’s just the reality of having a body. even if you never went on t, you’d get older and you might see your hair thin out even if you don’t bald, you’ll see your skin start to wrinkle and sag in places that used to be smooth, your metabolism might slow or your body fat might start to gather in new places; hell, you might lose your hair for a totally different reason and end up in the same place but without the benefits of having been on t that whole time. life is full of bodily changes like that. transphobes will fearmonger about the permanent changes of testosterone all day long but the truth is, there is no escaping permanent bodily changes. whether or not you go on t, your body now isn’t the same as it will be in 1 or 5 or 10 or 20 or 50 years, just like it isn’t the same as it was at any point in your life before now. our bodies are never supposed to stop growing and aging and changing throughout our lives. there’s no guaranteeing that we’ll love every single change our bodies go through, but that’s okay! there are so many things in life that are more important than the way our bodies look. even if you go on t and lose your hair and don’t like how it looks, your life won’t be ruined; plenty of other things will bring you joy and more than make up for the insecurities.
just think about the gender euphoria and relief from dysphoria that t could give you. would losing your hair be bad enough to outweigh all of that? or is it just the pressure of a society that decided balding is bad that’s making you fear one single change despite how much joy you could have if you let that fear go? only you can decide if going on t is worth the potential downsides for you, but i suspect that for most of us, the benefits of going on t far outweigh the possibility of side effects like hair loss happening down the line.

Beauty Diary
Chapter 2: Building A Maintenance Routine
Let’s girl talk about how to build a maintenance routine, how to schedule, when to book appointments + understanding medical esthetic procedures.
How to Build a Routine:
Understand yourself and your beauty needs/desires. Do you want to start getting manicures? Are there any skin concerns you want to address + treat? Any enhancements you want? Are you ready to start keeping up with your hair? Once these questions are answered you can start building a routine!
Know what services can be done at a salon or at home.
Research for the best salons and spas near you
Take note of what you learn about yourself from your appointments so you know how to keep up at home. Ex.) Your skin type, curl pattern, hair porosity, ingredients that work best for you + your skin undertone.
List out what services you want done, how often you want them done and what you’re looking to achieve after each service.
Set beauty goals and plan to save for special beauty services.
Facials:
Basic facials should be done every 4-6 weeks.
When it comes to medical spa procedures they should be done at least once a month!
Here’s a short list of my favorite medical spa treatments to gain an understanding of what they are and how they benefit you.
Hydrafacial: a non invasive procedure that combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration and antioxidant protection by removing dead skin cells and impurities while simultaneously delivering moisturizing serums into the skin. (Skin type: ALL) should be done every 4-6 weeks.
Chemical Peel: a solution applied to the face to remove dead skin cells and stimulate the growth of new cells. (Skin type: ALL. Darker skin complexions can experience post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) should be done once a month.
Microdermabrasion: a minimally abrasive instrument is used to gently sand your skin in order to remove the thicker, uneven outer portion of skin. Best for light scarring, discoloration, sun damage and stretch marks. (Skin type: Skin prone to acne scars, age spots, unevenness, discoloration and sun damage.) should be done very 4-8 weeks.
PRP aka Vampire Facial: a procedure that involves drawing the clients blood, spinning it and injecting it through microneedling to increase collagen, reduce fine lines/wrinkles, improve moisture retention and enhance skin tone + texture. (Skin type: typically ACNE PRONE SKIN) should be done every few weeks and maintenance sessions are done 2-4 times a year.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hair Removal
There are many types of hair removal procedures to invest your time and money into. Waxing, sugaring, threading, laser hair removal and electrolysis. It’s best to go in for a hair removal service when your hair is the size of a grain of rice.
Waxing: every 2-5 weeks. face, underarms and bikini can be done every 2-3 weeks. hair length should be 1/4 of an inch.
Sugaring: every 2 weeks. hair length should be at least 1/8 of an inch.
Threading: every 2-3 weeks.
Laser Hair Removal: every 4-6 weeks done in about 4-6 treatment sessions. maintenance treatments can be done once every 6-12 months.
Electrolysis: every 2-4 weeks done in about 8-12 treatments. can take any where from 8 months, 12 months and 2 years to complete the treatment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cosmetic Injections
Cosmetic injections tend to be a yearly treatment routine. I recommend investing in packages in order to get more treatment sessions for a certain amount of money. They can also include a free treatment. Packages can be used for medical esthetic procedures such as laser hair removal packages, body contouring packages and tattoo removal packages as well.
Participating in Botox parties are also a good way to get a discount and purchase Botox packages. I used to assist hosting botox parties which included champagne, mimosas, cute desserts and discounts for clients if they brought a friend!
Botox: once every 4 months.
Lip Filler: once every 12-18 months.
Chin Filler: once every 1-5 years.
Non Surgical Rhinoplasty: once every 6 months.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nails
During the summer time is when I go into the nail salon more often than usual to keep my nails and toes ready for the sunshine.
Gel Manicure: every 3-4 weeks between fills.
Gel Pedicure: 2 weeks to 1 month.
Acrylic Nail Set: filled every 2-3 weeks. every 8 weeks to replace fake nails.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hair
Your hair should be healthy and kept in good maintenance by using an effective salon routine.
Hair Color: every 4-6 weeks between each hair coloring session.
Haircut: every 6-8 weeks or every 3-4 months.
Extensions: glue and tape extensions every 4-8 weeks, sew-in extensions every 6-8 weeks and micro-link extensions every 2-3 months.
Wig Installations: every 1-6 weeks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Other
Lash Extensions: every 2-3 weeks.
Lash Lift: every 6-8 weeks.
Lash Tinting: every 4-6 weeks.
Bow Tinting: every 4 weeks.
Brow Lamination: every 4-6 weeks.
Microblading: touch ups 1 or 2 times a year.
Appointment Layout:
Week 1: hydrafacial & extraction session.
Week 2: eyebrow wax & tint.
Week 3: hair cut & color.
PSA:
How often you get any procedures done depends on you, your budget, your skin, your hair, your nails, your stylist, your esthetician or your health care provider. Please build a beauty routine that fits you and your life style the best!

Can I ask for a Simon Riley x female reader but she's self conscious about her body (things like stretch marks, acne, unconventional body type) but he doesn't give a damn and loves her anyway lol
Here ya go love, sorry it took so long. <3
Tumblr media
Pairing: Simon RIley X Reader
Warnings: Reader has body issues? Simon being sweet.
~~~~~
You stare at your reflection i n the mirror, smoothing your dress down for the hundredth time. A small frown on your lips as you tugged the tight fabric, trying to pull it away from your body. You felt like you were a sausage, stuffed tight in its casing. The black dress you bought was meant to be flattering. It was meant to make you feel beautiful. But instead you feel like everyone is staring at the pudge on your stomach. You feel like everyone can see the stretch marks on your arms and legs from growing too quickly.
With a sigh you reach for the hem of the dress, ripping it up over your head and tossing it to the ground. There was nothing in your closet you felt like wearing. Everything was too tight, or too revealing. It was too flashy and drew attention. Or you were afraid it would be too plain and Simon would feel it wasn’t dressy enough for your date.
Tears burn in your eyes, you wish you were skinnier. You wish you didn't have stretch marks that tiger striped your skin. But you had tried every diet, every lotion, every solution to make yourself feel better about yourself but nothing worked. At this point you weren't even sure why Simon stuck around. He was gorgeous, he could have any girl he wanted yet he was still here with you. Maybe it was pity? Maybe it was convenient? Maybe he didn't feel like trying to date?
Whatever his reason was you sure as hell didn't feel like you deserved him. You wanted to be beautiful, you wanted to look in the mirror and be happy. You didn't want to stand in front of the mirror trying on every item in your closet only to end up wearing the same things you felt safe in. You wanted to dress up for a date night with Simon and love the way you looked… But instead you sit on the bed and cry.
You hate the way you look. You hate the person who stares back at you. You hate the way your thighs touch and how your hair is never shiny enough. How you didn't fill out dresses the way they did on the mannequins. You wanted to wear dresses and thigh highs, you wanted to wear short sleeves. You wanted to wake up one day and not feel like you had to run 2 miles to eat breakfast. You didn't want to sit down for a meal and wonder if it was worth eating.
You scrub your hand over your face, the tears slide down your cheeks. A harsh breath rushing past your lips as you sit on the edge of the bed. With a sigh you pull on your hoodie and sweatpants, moving to sit back against the headboard. You stare blankly at the clothes thrown about the room. A reminder of all the outfits you tried on and hated. Why couldn't you just be like the other girls? Be like Soap and Gaz’s girlfriends who seemed to wake up and put on anything they wanted.
You swore they could wear a plastic bag and make it designer. But you? If it didn't hide every curve, every stretch mark and scar on your body you wouldn't even think twice about wearing it. It was an automatic no. There were a few things you felt comfortable wearing, your go to was a hoodie and sweatpants when at home. When did you leave the house? A pair of jeans and an oversized shirt. You hated that when you sat down on the couch your automatic response was to hold a pillow on your lap to try and cover your stomach. You hated how you would suck in subconsciously to try and make yourself smaller.
You put your head down on your knees, your arms wrapped around your legs as you cry softly. When would you feel worth it? When would you be happy with your body?
Simon’s gut tells him something is wrong, you told him you would be out once you were dressed. You were supposed to be going out to the pub with Soap and Gaz tonight. But it had been awhile since you disappeared into the bedroom.
He makes his way towards your shared room, the door getting stuck slightly as he pushes it open. The clothes on the floor get caught under it and cause resistance. The first thing Simon notices is the entirety of your closet all over the room, the scattered hangers around the room. His brown eyes land on you, your head on your knees, shoulders shaking slightly as you cry. His heart breaks, Simon hated to see you upset, and it was simple for him to piece the puzzle together. Clearly trying to find something to wear didn't go well.
“Love?” Simon calls softly, as he comes to sit on the edge of the bed. It dips slightly from his weight, and his large hand closes over your wrist. He tugs gently and manages to get you to look up from your knees. A frown coming across his face as he takes in the makeup running down your cheeks.
“Do you want to talk about it?” he asks softly, hishand coming to brush your mascara tears away.
“I just want to be pretty,..’” you whisper hoarsely.
“You are pretty, baby, why do you think you’re not?” Simon's voice is soft as he moves closer to you. His hands come to rest on the tops of your knees, he gives them a small squeeze.
“I’m not like them…”
“Like who Love?”
“Like the other girls… They’re so pretty, they  have perfect hair, perfect skin… They can wear whatever they want and look beautiful.. I wear something remotely skin tight and I look like someone overfilled a sausage casing,” You start to sob, hot fat tears rolling down your cheeks again.
Simon knew you had some underlying issues with how you looked. You would often mention that you wish you could wear something. Or when you would look at one of your magazines he would see your shoulder slump slightly when you got to the ads. The longing look in your eyes as you looked at the girls that littered the pages. But he didn't care that you didn't look like stick thin overly made up barbies. He loved you for who you were.
He loved your curves, and the way your body fit against his. He didn't find the girls in the magazines attractive, they looked almost sick to Simon. He had always favored women that had some meat on their bones. The ones who didn't look like one slightly strong wind could blow them over. But most importantly he loved you.
“Baby, I promise that you’re the most beautiful woman I have ever laid eyes on. I love every part of you. Your curves. Your stretch marks. The scar on your left shoulder. To the way you crinkle your nose when i say something you find funny but aren't allowed to laugh. I love the way your body fits against mine. I love every part of you, and if I have to tell you every day for the rest of your life just how much I love the parts that you don't , I will.” Simon’s fingers grasp your chin as he leans in, his forehead against yours as he whispers to you.
“You promise?” You whisper, slowly opening your eyes as he pulls back.
“I promise,” He whispers, leaning in and capturing your lips in a soft kiss. “Now how about we stay in tonight, yeah?” He whispers against your lips as his lips ghost along your cheek towards your neck.
Hi Sex Witch,
So this isn’t about sex really but it is a concern I have in regards to my body. So I am really bad at picking at scabs, pimples, bumps, you name it, and I have been completely unable to shake the habit. And I get this kind of acne on my face, shoulders, back, and boobs. And I’ve got scars as well from how much I’ve picked.
I’ve gotten some meds (twice a day pills and a lotion) but at least for the pills, they need to be taken with a glass of water and it’s recommended that they be taken with some food in the stomach. I usually take my meds right when I wake up so that I don’t forget since I have ADHD. Which means that I usually forget the acne meds in the morning, and I’ve not ever had meds in the evening so I rarely take them then. I don’t even know if they actually work because I take them so rarely.
My main concern is that if I ever get breast cancer, I won’t know because bumps are already so common on my boobs.
I know that the best solution would be to just stop picking but I don’t know how to actually do that. I guess the other obvious thing to do would be to actually be taking my meds consistently but I also don’t really know how to get into that routine.
I don’t really know what advice you can offer about this but I figure it doesn’t hurt to ask
Also thank you so much for answer questions all the time, I think your blog is really great and really appreciate how supportive you are when people ask questions
✨💙✨ <— just so that I know this was mine when I see it
hi anon,
one of the best things you can do to help head off this fear would be learning about practicing breast self-exams and recognizing when a change in your breast is something different than the bumps you're used to.
bumpy breasts aren't the only warning sign of breast cancer (nor are they always a sign of breast cancer; about 4/5 of bumps are caused by something else). according to the American Cancer Society, a more complete list of warning signs includes:
Swelling of all or part of a breast (even if no lump is felt)
Skin dimpling (sometimes looking like an orange peel)
Breast or nipple pain
Nipple retraction (turning inward)
Nipple or breast skin that is red, dry, flaking, or thickened
Nipple discharge (other than breast milk)
Swollen lymph nodes under the arm or near the collar bone (Sometimes this can be a sign of breast cancer spread even before the original tumor in the breast is large enough to be felt.)
being familiar enough with your breasts to quickly notice any of these changes and seek medial consultation if you're worried is important preventative care!
also, this is important: I don't know how old you are, but unless you have a family history of developing breast cancer early, it's unlikely that you need to seriously worry about this until you start approaching your fifties. by all means learn the signs and how to be proactive, especially if it will grant you some peace of mind, and feel free to express your concerns with your healthcare provider, but also please let this relieve some anxiety if you're not yet in the age range where breast cancer is most likely.
OUR SPRING
004. dating
Tumblr media
"Date me."
"Excuse me what the fuck-?" It wasn't the most elegant way to respond, but it was still one of the most reasonable.
His face was still barely inches away from yours, you expected to notice whatever the media concealed. Any blemishes, scars, acne, maybe even a pimple or two. But somehow, he has none of those. As excessive as it sounds, it was safe to say that he was completely flawless. At least in a visual context. Even in a dark, barely lit janitor's closet his skin still seems to glow, while radiating youth and beauty.
He breaks out into laughter, as if this was peak comedy. "I don't think it's in the way you're thinking of right now... Sorry to disappoint you, darling." For the first time you notice his dimples, which also seemed to complement his face greatly.
The thought of ripping out his luscious hair flits through your mind.
"First, call me that again and I'll make sure no one wants to cast you as a male lead again. Second, if this isn't a weird confession, what is it?"
Concern pinches his features, but they soon return to his usual confident expression.
"We're only going to fake a relationship. It'll benefit both of us."
"You're a fucking idiot, you know?" You could understand his thought process, but at the same time you found this proposal ridiculous.
"You have such an elegant and sophisticated manner of speaking" He comments sarcastically, soon shutting up with a glare from you. "Please listen."
It seems like a waste of time, but you still permit him to explain with a nod. He finally moves back a bit. "How would this work? Won't we just look like manwhores if we're suddenly dating someone else?"
"Which is precisely why we aren't suddenly together. We've been dating throughout the past term, but kept it secret due to not being ready for publicity. That's when the Kira rumors began, right? And you've always denied every single one?"
You nod. Everything's slowly piecing together. "I have. So we're going to make it look like we've been dating this whole time, but due to wanting privacy Kira took advantage of it and tried to make it look like I liked him?"
"Precisely. We're kinda villainizing Kira here, but personally I don't mind. I don't think you do either."
"I don't. But how exactly does this benefit you? Will I have to start posting on social media? Won't I look like another one of your partners?"
Chigiri pauses for a moment, as if he never thought of those possibilities, and was currently improvising a solution. "Well, first off, we'll keep you faceless whenever possible, and I'll make posts on social media. Second, you being with me would help confirm it when the other idols deny the scandals. Think of it as further evidence for our denial."
It was honestly a great idea. Sure, collaboration with a celebrity and having a bit of public exposure was risky but when the media is convinced it'll persuade your classmates too. Chigiri notices this hesitation of yours, and goes even further to sweeten the deal.
"I'll take full responsibility if anything happens. I'll compensate you too."
You blink. It was flattering to know that he knew of to take ownership of his actions but the offer still shocks you. "I appreciate it... but why?"
"I'm dragging you to unfamiliar territory in a way. I'm also proposing this. The compensation is non negotiable." He finalizes your deal, waiting for your answer.
You pause for a moment. Was this risky and possibly stupid? Yes. But it's the only solution available at the moment.
Besides, it's not like anything was entirely risk free, right?
"Let's do it." He's been a celebrity for a long time, he knows what he's doing.
The serious and stern expression he wore dissipates, now one of victory and joy. "Great."
Before you could continue speaking, he unties his hair, ruffling it and tucking his hair tie into one of his pockets. His lithe fingers go up to his shirt and start unbuttoning the top few, while his teeth dig into his lips. Just when you're about to question what he's doing, you realize. Chigiri's already preparing for this act of yours, swollen lips and messy hair, it looks he's been making out.
To accentuate this, he goes even further, pulling out lip balm. He rubs a bit of the pink substance on his neck, careful with it's placement to replicate the aftermath of kisses.
Before you could ask if this was too far or not, he interrupts.
"May I?" His hands reach for your hair, as you allow him to with a nod.
Chigiri's slim fingers gently dishevel your hair, slightly ghosting over your scalp. Although he had intended to create the image of you two having a steamy make out session, the two of you rather juxtaposed each other. Chigiri looked like he came straight out of a romance drama (which is, in one way true), as the male lead that everyone swoons over, perfect everything and ethereal. The embodiment of the ideal man.
On the other hand, you looked like you had a rough night, tossing and turning, and forgetting to brush your hair in the morning.
With a slight tilt of his head asking if you were ready you nodded in response, as the door opens and you're both soaked in light once more.
You weren't sure what exactly to expect, but nothing movie or drama like happened. No one froze in their tracks to question what they were witnessing. Whispers fluttered within the hallway, accompanied by gasps and shocked questions.
To further amplify your facade, Chigiri wraps an arm around your waist, the sensation's new and unfamiliar, but it's warm and oddly comforting.
For the first time, you walk out of school with eyes on you, staring at you with curiosity and great interest.
Hi! Loved your most recent story! I was thinking maybe you could write one where the reader struggles with acne and Eli makes her feel not insecure? 💕
Hope you are well!
Heey, thank you for requesting! I hope you like that one too!!
Words: 1,6K
You followed a certain logic in your mind, choosing comfortable clothes. You'd wrapped socks around your hair to make sure it looked nice, hoping it would draw attention away from your face—or maybe even from your own reflection in the bathroom mirror. Everything felt exhausting, almost pointless. Your face was freshly washed, the marks and small stinging spots seemed more noticeable. You spent a long time staring at yourself, wondering what to do—they were worse than the day before. You took care of your skin, wanting the blemishes to disappear, not to worsen suddenly, leaving scars behind.
You covered them with foundation and concealer, did your eyeliner to make your eyes more noticeable, but then leaned against the wall, disliking the texture of your skin, wanting to just stay there. You and Eli were supposed to meet Ryan and his girlfriend, trying out a new restaurant, something casual and fun, but you knew your mind wouldn’t let you feel at ease.
“You okay? Something happened?” Eli's voice was sweet, as if he hadn’t been waiting for you to get ready for almost an hour.
“I’ll be out soon, sorry.” You could hear him breathing behind the closed door, his feet shuffling against the floor.
“Need anything? I can run to the pharmacy for you, just tell me what you need.” His thick accent, full of concern, made you smile, an honest contrast to how you felt. You held the doorknob, hesitating for a few seconds, and then remembered Eli was your boyfriend—he would understand.
“No, I’m okay, El.” You whispered, opening the door to face him. He was wearing a tight band tee, showing off his arms, jeans with a belt, and his hair slicked back. He looked adorable, which made you feel even worse about the fact that he'd dressed up, only for you to now not want to go. It also seemed unfair that he'd be going out with you. You closed your eyes quickly, pushing those thoughts down as hard as you could. You hated being like this.
“You look beautiful, pumpkin. I can get dressed up more if you give me a few seconds.” That was the thing—Eli was just being himself, effortless, while you had tried so hard. He didn’t move, and the silence between you wasn’t uncomfortable, though you felt uneasy in your own skin. Tears welled up in your eyes, and he stepped into the bathroom with you. He looked around before his gaze settled on you. His eyes scanned you from head to toe, then he smiled softly, trying to show he was there for you.
“I can tell something’s bothering you, but I’m not sure what.”
All the beauty products—makeup, skincare solutions—were scattered across the sink. You often wondered how Eli saw this side of you. Some people could be insensitive about it, and although Eli wasn’t like that, you couldn’t help but think about it. You looked down at your feet, swallowing your words, not liking the idea of verbalizing this to him.
“Can I stay? I thought maybe you could go without me. I’m just not feeling up for it.” He frowned, thinking, still looking cute. It felt like you were a kid asking to skip school without a good reason.
“We don’t have to go.” He stepped closer, gently holding your face, trying to read you. His concern and calmness were so kind.
“But you should go—you look so handsome.” He chuckled softly.
“So do you, but what’s the point of going without my girl?” You crinkled your nose, embarrassed at how goofy he could be. He hesitated, about to brush his fingers across your cheek, but you flinched. Instead, he placed his hands on your shoulders, still wanting to keep you close, like that might ease your feelings. Your eyes drifted away from his, and that’s when he realized you weren’t avoiding him—you were hiding your face. He pulled you into a hug, and you pressed your face against his chest as he held you tight.
“I’ll let them know, it’s okay.” His lips brushed the top of your head as a wave of relief washed over you.
Eli held your waist as you sat on the counter in front of him. Your mind was somewhat blank, relieved to be staying in, but it still felt wrong. You were distant while Eli's voice echoed in the bathroom, talking to Ryan on the phone. He said he wasn’t feeling well, throwing in a sarcastic remark about you being his caregiver, which made you chuckle despite your sour mood.
“We could cook something nice, watch a movie, or just do nothing for the rest of the night. What do you think, huh?” You nodded, your eyes lifting to meet his, only to quickly look away. He kept his gaze on you.
"Sounds good, El."
Your shoulders were slumped, and Eli felt uneasy, unsure how to help. "I need to take off my makeup. You can get changed; I’ll do the same, and then we can cook something." You said this, imagining how you'd end up with your face pressed to his chest, transferring all the makeup onto his shirt. Either that, or you'd insist on hiding yourself with concealer the whole time.
"Can I?" Eli asked, his waist brushing against your knees as he reached for the makeup wipes you had grabbed earlier. You let out a long sigh and nodded. "My skin's irritated. It’s really flared up."
Your voice was barely audible, as if preparing him for the reality. “You know, I’ve seen your face plenty of times before,” he said softly, his warm, caramel eyes as tender as always as he carefully wiped your makeup away. “What do you think about them?” you asked quietly, handing him a small amber bottle. Speaking about it in code, adding a certain distance, helped make it easier to handle.
He paused, his shoulders heavy as if unsure how to put his thoughts into words. “I don’t really think about them like that,” he said thoughtfully, “They’re a part of you, so I like them.”
He applied the product to your cheeks with his fingers, lightly squeezing them, making you close your eyes and giggle at the way his thick fingers and rings felt against your skin. “How do you see yourself?” he asked hesitantly, not wanting you to speak poorly about yourself.
“I don’t know,” you swallowed, swinging your legs around him. “Now that they’re worse, I feel…”
He noticed your eyes divert once again, a sadness creeping into them. “It’s okay,” he gently lifted your chin, making you look at him. He kissed each cheek, the bridge of your nose, and then your forehead, lingering for a moment as his kisses echoed with soft pops.
You often feared Eli might find you unattractive at times, but his tenderness shattered that doubt. “I met you like this, remember? I thought you were beautiful then, and nothing’s changed. I won’t let you believe otherwise.” You wrapped your arms around his waist, pulling him closer. You didn’t know what to say, but Eli had already brightened your day. You wanted to be enveloped by him, as if he were a cocoon.
You nodded silently, letting him apply a few more drops of product to your face. He massaged it in the way he had seen you do many times before, and it was endearing how he had memorized your routine just from watching. “What’s this for?”
“It’s an aloe vera gel; it helps calm my skin.”
His brow arched as he read the label. “Okay. And those stickers? What are they for? And the other tubes?”
You laughed, feeling a bit lighter now. Eli’s muscles relaxed, pleased to see you holding eye contact with him again. Things were looking up; everything would be fine. “I use vitamin C sometimes to fade spots,” you explained. The wrinkle in his forehead smoothed out as if it all made sense now. “And I just try to keep my skin hydrated.”
You handed him a pack of star-shaped pimple patches, and he glanced at the pile, you got slightly embarrassed by how many you had. “These dry out pimples—like the pus and stuff. But mostly, they stop me from picking at them.”
He seemed satisfied with the explanation. The patch you handed him was shaped like golden stars. “Do you still have the pink heart ones? I think you look adorable when you wear those.”
Your cheeks warmed. It was a bit jarring to realize that Eli was fully aware of your blemishes, yet he viewed them as just another part of you, while you treated them like monsters. "You like them?" You gave him the chosen patches, though the question was more a confirmation for yourself than for him.
“I do have a favorite, but yeah, I like the others too. It’s cute when you walk around the house with them on your face.” You laughed, guiding his hand as he placed the patches in random spots rather than directly on the pimples.
You peeled one off and stuck it on his cheek. He smiled, leaning in to kiss you on your lips, lingering a little longer. The tip of his nose gently brushes against yours into softness.“I’ll go change into something more comfortable and head downstairs.” You tied your hair up, abandoning any formality that might’ve lingered.
Eli nodded, removing his shirt and unbuckling his belt. You glanced over, eyes lingering on his shoulders and tattoo. He chuckled through his nose, “Okay, go get changed, little one. I’m starving.”
The vast majority of people have scars, and people have a range of feelings about their scars. Some people are proud of their scars, as a sign of their actions and/or survival. Some people are fond of their scars, smiling at ones that have good memories attached. Some people hate their scars because they bring up bad memories, or because the tissue limits their ability to move. Some people are neutral about them, viewing them as just something that happened. Most people's feelings fluctuate depending on which scar they are considering.
What the emotions in the first paragraph have in common is that they are generally associated with the event that caused them, or with the physical effect of the scar. In contrast, anxiety and self-consciousness about scars is almost always caused by the reactions of others.
Some scars are significantly more stigmatized than others. Heart surgery scars, for instance, are usually viewed neutrally, because there is not a major stigma attached to heart surgery and surgery scars usually heal neatly, making a "clean" scar to look at. The usual reason for heart surgery scars causing anxiety and self-consciousness is that on women and people perceived as women, they can be considered a blemish on the chest, disturbing those that feel that women should be decorative at all times.
Burn scars are the stereotypical "ugly" scar. Bad burns can cause severe damage to all layers of the skin, and it can be impossible to restore the skin to the state it was in before. The skin can be wrinkled, warped, and discolored. Burn scars mainly cause anxiety and self-consciousness because of their appearance being considered unsightly at best, and gore at worst. It's particularly hurtful that many people consider those with burn scars to be "a sight not fit for children.", which can result in them avoiding public spaces if they can't cover or disguise their scars. Any kind of "disfiguring" scar can have this reaction to it. Burn scars are just the most well known.
Appearance is not the only reason scars are stigmatized. For instance, scars related to gender affirming surgery, particularly the distinctive ones resulting from top surgery, are stigmatized due to transphobia. Self harm scars, particularly the classic and often recognized ones on the wrists, are stigmatized due to ableism. C-section scars are stigmatized where vaginal birth is considered part of womanhood.*
There are some scars that fall into multiple categories. Acne scars are perhaps the best known example. They are both considered disgusting to look at, and are often considered the fault of the person who has them. The propaganda of the skincare industry has done a remarkable job convincing us of that.
People with scars that people react poorly to often adopt strategies to hide or disguise them. Makeup is commonly used to hide flat scars and ones with only a little texture. For scars that are hard to reach or too raised, clothes are the most common tool used. Scarves, long sleeves and legs, and, more recently, masks, are all useful tools for people who want to hide their scars. Some people seek out permanent solutions for their scars. The two primary permanent solutions are tattoos and cosmetic surgery.
The after school special solution to this is usually "Be proud of your scars, and ignore anyone who says anything about them!". But It is not the fault of people with scars that people react poorly to them, and instructing them to have a more positive attitude does not solve the issue of being refused access to public space and respect as a human being because they did not adequately disguise themselves. Anxiety and self-consciousness are reactions to a hostile situation that are intended to protect you from further harm.
So, what next, then?
Don't belittle or tell off anyone for either their scars OR for hiding or disguising them. How people choose to deal with their scars is their choice, up to and including permanent solutions.
Don't recommend any kind of method to hide or disguise scars to someone who hasn't asked for one, and don't recommend a permanent method to someone currently using a reversible one unless they want one.
Don't stare at or ask about scars unless invited to do so.
Don't avoid looking at someone's scars like they're indecent, or avoid touching them in a situation where you would normally touch another person, like holding hands or hugging. Visible scarring should be treated like you would normally treat that section of someone's body if it was unscarred.
Don't lament how someone's scars could have been avoided, or how much better they looked before they were scarred.
Don't tell people how they should feel about their scars.
If someone else does any of the above, bring up that you thought talking about/to someone like that was rude. If they know the person with scars and that person considers it alright, then the person with scars will usually laugh it off and tell you it's alright. If the person making comments was being rude, then that often shuts up the rude person. Either way, it's useful for clarifying the situation without embarrassing anyone unnecessarily.
If someone is hiding their scars and what they were using to do it is damaged, lost, or stolen, and you can offer something to replace it, make the offer. Do not attempt to put an item on a revealed scar without asking unless you know that person well and know they are okay with you doing that.
In short, be polite.
*These spaces and groups tend to doubly stigmatize c-section scars on people who aren't women, because transphobia and misogyny focused on the body go hand in hand.
part of my new years “be healthy” resolution was to try and improve my skin and after getting better with my routine over the past two months my sebaceous hyperplasia is like 96% cleared… the only thing remaining on my face now is the textured depressions leftover from the scarring that my teenage cystic acne caused which i havent been able to fix before because you cant do that until the surface level of your skin is clear…today i ordered this korean scar cream and liquid chlorophyll solution that will hopefully help with that otherwise i might need to 1) go on prescription retinol to stimulate collagen reproduction or 2) get subcision surgery… which is very expensive
The Timeless Secret: Aloe Vera for Radiant Skin
Tumblr media
Nature has gifted us countless treasures, but few rival the purity and healing magic of aloe vera. This emerald green succulent, often referred to as the ‘plant of immortality,’ has been revered for centuries for its extraordinary skincare benefits. Whether you're struggling with acne, dryness, or premature aging, aloe vera is nature’s answer to all your skincare woes.
The Magic of Aloe Vera for Skin
1. Deep Hydration
Aloe vera gel is composed of 99% water, making it an exceptional natural moisturizer. It hydrates the skin without leaving a greasy residue, making it perfect for all skin types, especially oily and acne-prone skin.
2. Soothing and Healing
Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, aloe vera is a miracle worker for sunburns, redness, and skin irritation. It provides an instant cooling effect, reducing discomfort and speeding up the healing process.
3. Anti-Aging Wonder
Rich in antioxidants, vitamins C and E, and beta-carotene, aloe vera fights free radicals that cause premature aging. It helps improve skin elasticity, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, giving you a youthful glow.
4. Fights Acne and Blemishes
Aloe vera has natural antibacterial and antifungal properties that combat acne-causing bacteria. It also helps fade acne scars and dark spots, promoting an even skin tone.
5. Gentle Exfoliation
The enzymes in aloe vera help in mild exfoliation, removing dead skin cells and unclogging pores, resulting in smoother, brighter skin.
I've made a research for healthy skin because nowadays, pollution and bad diet have made our skin unhealthy, leading to acne and a lot of skin issues.
So, a solution for this is these 3 products for your skin to achieve your skin goals:
If you are looking for high-quality organic castor oil, check out this option on Amazon.
1. Origins and Composition of Castor Oil
Castor oil is native to Africa and India and is extracted through cold pressing, a method that preserves its essential nutrients.
Key components of castor oil include:
Ricinoleic acid, which has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties
Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids that help strengthen the skin barrier and retain moisture
Vitamin E, an antioxidant that combats free radicals and slows signs of aging
It is best to use organic, cold-pressed, and hexane-free castor oil to avoid skin irritation.
2. Benefits of Castor Oil
For Skin
Provides deep hydration when mixed with a lighter oil like jojoba
Helps reduce acne and inflammation when applied directly to breakouts
Can improve the appearance of scars and stretch marks with daily massage
For Hair
Stimulates hair growth when massaged into the scalp, especially when combined with rosemary oil
Helps repair split ends by coating hair and leaving it wrapped in a warm towel before rinsing
For best results, use Organic Castor Oil for Hair Growth available here.
For Eyelashes and Eyebrows
Can promote thicker lashes and brows when applied nightly with a clean mascara wand
3. Castor Oil Compared to Other Oils
Castor oil provides deep hydration and has antibacterial properties but is thick and may clog pores if overused.
Coconut oil is lightweight and has a pleasant scent but can be comedogenic for oily skin.
Argan oil is rich in antioxidants but tends to be more expensive.
For easier application, castor oil can be blended with lighter oils such as grapeseed or almond oil.
4. DIY Castor Oil Recipes
Anti-aging face mask: Mix one tablespoon of castor oil with one tablespoon of honey and an egg yolk. Apply for 20 minutes before rinsing.
Detox body scrub: Mix two tablespoons of castor oil with three tablespoons of brown sugar and a few drops of lavender essential oil.
Hair growth serum: Combine two tablespoons of castor oil with one tablespoon of peppermint oil and apply it to the roots twice a week.
5. Precautions and Common Mistakes
Always perform a patch test before use by applying a small amount to your wrist and waiting 24 hours.
Avoid getting castor oil in your eyes, as it may cause irritation.
Do not ingest cosmetic castor oil, as it is not the same as food-grade castor oil.
A common misconception is that castor oil instantly grows hair, but in reality, it strengthens hair follicles, leading to healthier and fuller growth over time.
6. Frequently Asked Questions
Is castor oil safe for oily skin?
Yes, but it should be diluted with tea tree oil or rosehip oil to balance oil production.
How long does it take to see results for wrinkles?
Consistent use for six to eight weeks can improve skin elasticity and reduce fine lines.
Conclusion
Castor oil is a versatile natural remedy for skincare and haircare. While it is not a miracle solution, regular and correct use can lead to noticeable improvements. Pair it with a balanced routine, try different DIY blends, and enjoy its many benefits over time.
