457 Wishlist - Labyrinth AU

Inspired by the penrose stairs in the show. Everytime I see it I’m reminded of this movie. There’s so many ways it can go but I can think of two.

The first follows the canon of the movie in that Gi-hun accidentally banished someone to the Goblin Kingdom, maybe his mother, in the past. Then he had to travel to the labyrinth to get her back and met the Goblin King, In-ho, there. He successfully returned.

Fast forward to the present.

Gi-bun has moved past it, and 30 years later he visits his daughter on campus. There he’s introduced to Ga-yeong’s favorite history professor – Mr. Oh Young-il, who reminds Gi-hun of the Goblin King both in terms of mannerism and intensity. Not only that, but Gi-hun thinks he’s experiencing magic again, particularly the pervasive feeling of being watched.

Alternatively, the story can take place when Ga-yeong is young (canon age). She comes to visit with a storybook in her hands one day, which Gi-hun assumes is a gift. The book becomes Ga-yeong’s favorite. She asks Gi-hun to read it every night, and Gi-hun obliges, happy to share something with her. Only, things get strange… The content of the book starts changing, becoming more explicit and romantic as it details how the Goblin King fell for a mortal. It only does so when Gi-hun is alone. Whenever Gi-hun tries to show someone, it reverts back to a childish fairytale.

Gi-hun decides to get rid of the book, but this causes a fight with Ga-yeong. She chants the words mentioned in the book asking for the Goblin King to take him away.

Suddenly, Gi-hun finds himself as guest to the Goblin King, In-ho. Furthermore, he’s informed that his daughter and his best friend Jung-bae have entered the labyrinth to rescue him. In-ho says he can ensure their safety, but only if Gi-hun promises In-ho his second-born child.

90’s mentally ill superbat: a vague guide to mae kent & jean-paul valley’s similarities!

jean-paul valley / azrael / avenging angel is a human who has been genetically altered & programmed to suit the needs of a farcical catholic cult. he shares his body with Azrael ‘the avenging angel’, an alter created by the cult to be an assassin for their use. jean-paul & azrael are taken in by batman & alfred and often hurt people (i’m thinking of tim & dick here specifically because of how it parallel’s mae’s accidental harm towards lana & the kents) while trying to do good, partially due to complicated morals instilled by the cult. he goes on to take over the mantle of batman temporarily before having that taken from him by bruce because he was being too destructive / violent. he discovers that the order is sending a bioweapon/sickness to attack gotham & helps the batfam deal with it.

matrix / mae kent / supergirl / earthbound angel of fire is a clone of a human made from ‘protomatter’ and programmed to mimic the powers of superman while being loyal to lex luthor— in order to fight a farcical battle against kryptonian terrorists accidentally freed by said lex luthor. we discover later on that lex luthor had the kryptonite necessary to end the battle the entire time and opted to allow the genocide to continue out of ‘pride’. when introduced to the kents and lana, who are dead where she’s from, she kidnaps them and ties them up out of.. confusion? mae is taken in by the kents & lana, despite her prior kidnapping of them. while superman is in exile, she takes on his identity, until he returns with the eradicator & her contact with it causes a psychic link that leads to her accidentally hurting the kents & lana again and going on her own exile, as superman takes the mantle back over from her. after her breakup with lex luthor and due to his declining health, lex sends ultrasonic missiles to hit various locations around metropolis— mae helps the rest of the superfam deal with the threat and minimise damage. she later fuses bodies with a catholic girl involved in a cult, named ‘linda danvers’ (completely separate from pre-crisis kara zor el, who went by the same name) and they share a body for a time as an ‘earthbound angel of fire’.

tldr: both have long blonde hair, both are taken in by people they go on to accidentally hurt, both were created by people in labs & for reasons based in lies (lex with the kryptonite & dumas with.. the everything), both share a body with a catholic cultist, both are based on humans but altered in some way that makes them consider themselves inhuman on some level, both call themselves ‘angels’ and use fire as a weapon, both help deal with destruction caused by their creators .. there’s probably something about the parallel between jpv/azrael & barbara and mae/matrix & elizabeth perske as well but idk how to phrase that in a way that makes sense …

and lastly, just these parallels between their comics:

batman: sword of azrael #1 - jean-paul’s father is dying in his arms as he uses his final words to tell him about his purpose for creation & the mission. jpv yells ‘father!’ as he dies.

superman (1986) #22 - mae’s creator, pocket universe lex luthor, is dying in clark’s arms as he uses his last words to tell him the truth behind mae’s creation. clark yells ‘lex!’ as he dies.

batman: sword of azrael #4 - azrael turns towards houston, texas in his hunt of lehah because lehah owns property there.

Manipulating you into staying at home, isolated from everyone just waiting for his time to arrive home and looking at the only face you're allowed to. The lonely feeling can be strong, but the happiness you feel at his arrival overcomes everything.

His sisters enable his manipulations a lot; Serval disregards his behavior, his little brother just wants to take care of his so! He's a member of the Silvermane Guards, needless to say, he knows what to do to maintain his beloved one's safety! If anyone questions his relative conduct she will drop her line: "Is not necessary to worry, Gepard knows what he's doing! And of course, it's the best for their couple"

Lynx is another case, Gepard's insane tendencies are not something he wants to show up to his little sister and Serval tends to cover him when something happens, because of this her vision of your relationship is very innocent, leading up to asking things that might provoke problems and inviting you on trips on the surroundings of the city or just to hang out! The poor little Landau doesn't know that you can't leave without your boyfriend's approval, do not even think about trips if he's not there, if you can find a way to bond with your sister-in-law without leaving the house your pair is more than okay with that!

OMGGGG LETS FUCKING GOOOOO. ok so. i am such a jungbae/inho fan on the quiet. idk how it happened it just Did. i think it started from seeing how genuinely friendly jungbae was to "youngil" and how he'd touch him, hug him etc so often. it was rlly sweet. ppl talk a lot abt inho glaring at jungbae but i wish they'd talk more abt the flip side of it which was that jungbae genuinely liked him and saw him as his friend :( yeah he was suspicious of him after mingle but tbh if i saw a guy expertly snap someone's neck and show 0 remorse or distress abt it yeah i would be suspicious too LOL. i don't think it's the "killing someone" part that would bother jungbae, after all he's not an idiot and he knows he would've died if inho hadn't killed that guy...... i think it's more the way that inho was so cold and unbothered abt it yknow? ANYWAYS IM GETTING KINDA OFF TRACK. the point is that jungbae genuinely liked him and cared abt him for the most part imo

with inho, unpopular opinion but i don't think he hated jungbae. it's funny to make memes abt it but i don't think he did. the real tragedy of it is that i'm not sure he felt much of anything abt jungbae at all? he was irritated by his presence bc he kinda was a barrier to him being able to manipulate gihun bc he provided gihun with a close support person he could confide in outside of inho. but i don't think inho hated him. i don't think he rlly cared enough abt him to hate him. jungbae was another pawn in the game and once he needed to be sacrificed, inho did it. i don't think he enjoyed killing jungbae though, and i think he probably felt somewhat guilty abt it. it's my belief that he didn't set out with the intent to kill jungbae in the rebellion, hence why he offered to go with gihun instead of jungbae at first. if the plan had always been for him to kill jungbae, he would've never asked to go with gihun himself yknow?

ig it's one of those ships where i can't imagine it working in canon but it's soooo fun to imagine how it might work in an au/outside of canon. i wanna see jungbae's kindness slowly wear down inho's apathy. i wanna see inho falling for him and hating himself for it. and i want to see jungbae utterly confused abt the whole situation, lol. ig i just love the idea of inho slowly realising that he cares a lot abt and might even be in love with this guy who he viewed as just a pawn/tried to kill in the past. there's something very powerful abt it to me, that perspective shift happening from inho viewing him as a tool/human trash to being like wait. hang on. that is a whole human being with thoughts and feelings and beliefs. and then accidentally falling in love with him lol. it's like 457 but even messier

Family Views, Harry Potter. It's 4562 words, and I'm slowly slowly working on a sequel. I wrote this one when I first starting to get big into marauders era stuff, and was more active on tiktok The Coffee, Good Omens. It's 1044 words, and if I remember correctly I wrote this the same day series 2 came out. I could be thinking of the other I think it was three fix it oneshots I did, but I'm pretty sure this was written in immediate response to the ending after seeing a few of the coffee theory vids on tiktok The Shockwave, Merlin. It's 3998, and it's one of the first fics I wrote after moving from wattpad to ao3 Peter Parker, Totally Not a Half-Blood, it's a MCU Spider-Man and Percy Jackson and the Olympians crossover. It's currently a work in progress but I'm getting there The Reveal, Harry Potter (specifically marauders era), its 1053 words and possible one of my favourites.

4. What fandoms do you write for?

A few, mostly doctor who. A surprising amount of Spider-Man and MCU for someone that would't consider themselves a fan. A lot of Percy Jackson, and a scary amount of Harry Potter stuff aha

5. Do you respond to comments?

All the time! Sometimes it takes a few days, and it has on one occasion led to a comment section under one of my fics being permanently broken, but I do my absolute best to respond to every comment I get

6. Angstiest Ending?

You Deserve Better, it's one of the fics sat in an unfinshed series, and by unfinished it's solo, but one day I'll come back for them. I was deep in my marauders era stuff, I really hurt those boys and I fully intend to finish the job or maybe Burnt Memories It's a thirteenth doctor fic, which my favourite trope of accidental arsonist thirteen in which she accidentally sets fire to the one thing of Rose she has left

20. Favorite fic you've ever written?

It's had for me to pick, but I'll go with a more recent one that I adore just so much Your Face, Masked Away in my Memories, it's 1546 words, and it's a Peter/Butch fic set post no way home. It's angsty with a hopeful ending and I love it. I'm pretty sure I've done a sequel to it, or there's a sequel sitting half finished in my drafts

I don't really have anyone to tag but if you see this and write fanfic, do it yourself! (I'll warn you now it takes a while. My dad was sound asleep but now almost an hour later he's just driven off to work yes and nearly 6am)
