godddd I'm just thinking about those domestic inhun fics where gihun survives the games a second time and he and inho have to raise the baby together. and inho is basically on fucking house arrest because neither gihun nor junho trust him enough to not run away

Idkkk I just love the idea of inho still being so incredibly calculating about his actions post games. Like he needs to be mindful about how he comes off to gihun and junho so they know he's trustworthy. So they don't think he's going to disappear again.

Always letting them know where he is at all times. Always announcing which room he's going into, for what purpose, and for how long. Knocking before entering any room. Making sure gihun sees him before approaching him.

you can pry calculating inho from my cold dead hands this man will never relax he will always be playing 4d chess in his mind even if it isn't malicious. He's just always aware about how he comes off to other people, how he's being perceived

Songbird Chapter 8: Bonds

Sang-woo approaches Gi-hun in the Escher halls. 

Gi-hun receives this approach with open palms and a faint thread of hopeful, friendly scent - a flicker of paraffin and cinnamon over the petrichor-gasoline tang of his fear. Maybe Sang-woo is here to offer a truce of sorts - to team up in the upcoming game. Maybe they’re done fighting. 

But when the Alpha tilts his head to frown at Gi-hun’s neck, inspecting him as he approaches, the tentative smile fades from Gi-hun’s lips. 

“Do you want -?” Gi-hun starts, meaning to say, do you want to play together? but before he can get it out, he’s backed up against a pink wall. 

“What the hell,” he sputters, thrashing against the forearm keeping him there - annoyed, but not trying too hard. His voice strains and crackles. His throat is sore. Worn out from moaning. “Get off,” he tries again, wriggling, but Sang-woo presses closer - too close. 

A thumb brushes the skin of Gi-hun’s neck, just above the collar of Player 001’s jacket, and his breath catches. He’s still sensitive. The tiny touch is ticklish - magnified. A candle-flame of desire blooms within him, silent and small and hot, despite himself. 

Then the Omega finds his head being manipulated, turned this way and that in the Alpha’s large hands as Sang-woo searches his skin for something. His neck. 

A mark. That’s what he’s looking for.

Did anyone else grow up in a household culture that valued self development and self actualization through intellectual and academic pursuits only, while actively discouraging physical self expression and physical bodily experience?

Anyone else get that good ol' double-whammy of Christian "your body is inherently shameful, dirty, and bad, and you should never explore it or even experience it" from one side of the family and a healthy dollop of classist "bodily expression is gauche and base and we're Above That" bullshit from the other?

Anyone else discovering at age 30 that they never got the chance to practice or develop half their brain and body experience because it was repressed in various ways? And now we gotta manually rewire half our synapses because it turns out we were using like 25% of the pathways available to us and the other 75% never got developed?

Just me?

Sang-woo mouths wordlessly, off-balance in more ways than one, and then closes his mouth and glares - and a soft echo brushes the back of Gi-hun’s mind. 

Don’t trust him, sweetness. He uses you as a shield. I’ve seen it. You’re worth more than that.

But he doesn’t know. The Captain doesn’t know Sang-woo, he wasn’t there when Sang-woo toiled day and night to earn scholarships so he wouldn’t burden his mother with his studies. He didn’t see Sang-woo working behind the counter at the fish shop named after him, always blushing a deep red whenever anyone looked at his name tag and then pointed at the store’s sign with a laugh. He doesn’t know that Sang-woo collects interesting coins from around the world and displays them in a shallow glass-fronted display case, or that he always tips more than he needs to, or that he double-knots his shoelaces or hates horror movies or that he could never ride a bike. His balance was abysmal; he always relied on Gi-hun to give him a ride to school, in those early days. Before adulthood. Before cars. Back when Gi-hun’s prized vehicle was a rickety little thing on two wheels. 

The Captain doesn’t know Sang-woo.

But Gi-hun does. He knows his friend. Maybe it has been years - maybe they have drifted apart - but they are still, always, friends. Nothing can change that. They’re too much a part of each other - too deeply interpenetrated into each other’s foundations. 

With a sigh, he steps forward. Obeying the hard prod of a gun between his shoulder blades. The tension breaks like a fever, like a chemical reaction, and he picks up Sang-woo’s limp, clammy hand. 

“Come on,” Gi-hun mutters, tugging them both up the stairs like they’re five and six years old again, respectively. “We need to catch up.”

Imagine IN-HO as the human. Obsessive. Solitary. Awkward and strange. And he catches a whiff of something else strange - a man who smiles big, laughs openly, and never walks in the sunlight - though he watches it with big, sad, mournful eyes.

Because In-ho would be the BEST weird stalkery little human that secretly discovers that Seong Gi-hun and his found family are something inhuman and bloodthirsty.

And Gi-hun as a vampire? Honestly, perfection.
