How to Get Internships While Studying Abroad
Securing an internship while studying abroad can be an incredible way to gain international work experience, enhance your resume, and immerse yourself in a new culture. Many international students find this process challenging, but with careful planning and strategic efforts, you can land an internship that aligns with your career goals. Here is a comprehensive guide to help you understand the steps to securing internships while studying abroad.
1. Research Opportunities Early
One of the first steps to landing an internship abroad is to start your search early. Understanding the local job market and identifying industries that align with your field of study are crucial. Universities often provide career services or internship placement programs for international students. Take advantage of these resources to find opportunities that suit your skills and interests.
Additionally, external agencies such as ABC Study Links Agency can assist students with pre- and post-admission services, including guidance on internships. By partnering with a study abroad consultation, you can access valuable insights into companies and organizations that welcome international interns.
2. Build a Strong Network
Networking is essential when looking for internships in a foreign country. Attend university events, career fairs, and industry conferences to connect with professionals in your field. Your professors and classmates may also have connections or recommendations that can lead to internship opportunities. Social platforms like LinkedIn are valuable tools for building professional relationships and staying updated on job openings.
Reaching out to alumni who studied abroad in the same region can be another effective strategy. They often have firsthand knowledge of internship opportunities and can offer advice on navigating the local job market. Networking not only increases your chances of finding an internship but also helps you develop long-term professional relationships.
3. Customize Your Application Materials
Creating a tailored resume and cover letter is essential when applying for internships abroad. Highlight your academic achievements, relevant skills, and any previous work experience. Be sure to adapt your application materials to meet the cultural and professional standards of the host country.
For instance, some countries may prefer detailed CVs over short resumes, while others might value personal statements. Researching these nuances will demonstrate your cultural awareness and commitment. Suppose you’re unsure about how to craft a winning application. In that case, consulting a study abroad consultation like ABC Study Links Agency can provide you with expert advice on making your application stand out.
4. Leverage Your University’s Resources
Many universities abroad have partnerships with local companies and organizations. These partnerships often create exclusive internship opportunities for students. Visit your university’s career center or consult with your academic advisor to explore these options. Internships offered through university programs are particularly beneficial because they are often structured to accommodate your academic schedule.
If your university does not provide direct internship opportunities, external agencies like ABC Study Links Agency can help bridge the gap. With their expertise, you can discover hidden opportunities and receive guidance throughout the application process.
Finding an internship while studying abroad requires persistence, preparation, and the willingness to explore every available resource. Starting early, networking effectively, and tailoring your applications to local standards can significantly increase your chances of success. For additional support, partnering with a reliable study abroad consultation can simplify the process. Their pre- and post-admission services ensure that you have the guidance you need to make the most of your study abroad experience. By taking these steps, you can enhance your academic journey and gain invaluable international work experience.

I am convinced being a first generation college student is just regretting telling your parent literally anything you want to do
#tw rant#lmao okay my mother has been trying to get me to not study abroad in the summer which is above all things annoying#she thinks I just want to travel. it is called STUDY abroad#and I made the mistake of telling her I was also applying to some internships#she goes on and on about how I should do the internship and not a study abroad#and of course she had to say that it would be better for me to stay in the states if I doan internship for job opportunities.#just ignoring the fact I have wanted to do a masters in the uk for years and eventuallymove abroad#so frustrating because when I was a teenager she constantly hated that I was not 'independent enough' and now that I never want to come home#and want to be very independent (as any 22 y/o should) she tries to tell me not to be independent#screaming.

How Custom Software Development Transforms Modern Businesses: Insights from CodEduIn an era dominated by rapid technological advancements, businesses are under immense pressure to stay competitive, efficient, and customer-focused. Off-the-shelf software, while useful, often falls short in addressing the unique challenges and dynamic needs of individual businesses. This is where custom software development steps in—a solution tailored specifically to meet the requirements of a business.
CodEdu Software Technologies, based in Cochin, Kerala, specializes in creating innovative, customer-centric software solutions that empower businesses to streamline operations, improve productivity, and enhance customer experiences. In this blog, we’ll explore how custom software development is transforming modern businesses and why partnering with CodEdu can be a game-changer.
What Is Custom Software Development? Custom software development involves designing, developing, and deploying software solutions tailored to meet a business's specific requirements. Unlike generic, off-the-shelf software, custom solutions are built from the ground up to align with a company’s processes, goals, and challenges.
This personalized approach allows businesses to create tools that integrate seamlessly with their existing operations, enhancing efficiency and providing a competitive edge.
The Key Benefits of Custom Software Development
Tailored to Specific Business Needs Custom software is designed to address a company’s unique requirements. Whether it’s automating a workflow, integrating with other tools, or solving specific challenges, the solution is built to fit seamlessly into the business ecosystem.
For example, an e-commerce business may require a software system that combines inventory management, personalized customer recommendations, and a secure payment gateway. Off-the-shelf software may provide one or two of these features but rarely all in an integrated manner.
Enhanced Efficiency and Productivity Custom software eliminates redundancies and streamlines operations. By automating repetitive tasks and integrating seamlessly with existing tools, businesses can significantly reduce manual effort and focus on core activities.
CodEdu has worked with several businesses to create custom solutions that enhance efficiency. One notable example is a manufacturing client who needed real-time tracking of production cycles. The tailored solution reduced delays and optimized resource allocation, saving the client both time and money.
Scalability for Future Growth One of the major limitations of off-the-shelf software is its inability to scale. As businesses grow and evolve, their software needs change. Custom software, on the other hand, is designed with scalability in mind.
CodEdu’s solutions are built to grow alongside businesses, allowing for easy updates and additional features as new challenges and opportunities arise.
Improved Security Data security is a top concern for businesses today. Custom software allows for the integration of advanced security features tailored to the specific vulnerabilities of the organization.
Unlike generic solutions that use standard security protocols, custom software incorporates unique safeguards, making it harder for malicious actors to breach the system.
Cost-Effectiveness in the Long Run While the initial investment for custom software may be higher than purchasing off-the-shelf solutions, it offers significant savings in the long run. Businesses avoid recurring licensing fees, third-party tool integration costs, and inefficiencies caused by mismatched software capabilities.
Real-World Applications of Custom Software Development Custom software development is revolutionizing industries by offering solutions that address specific operational challenges. Here are some examples of how businesses are leveraging tailored solutions:
E-Commerce Industry E-commerce companies face unique challenges, such as managing large inventories, providing personalized customer experiences, and ensuring secure transactions. Custom software can integrate inventory management systems, CRM tools, and AI-driven recommendation engines into a single platform, streamlining operations and boosting sales.
Healthcare Sector The healthcare industry requires solutions that ensure patient confidentiality, streamline appointment scheduling, and manage medical records efficiently. Custom software allows healthcare providers to deliver telemedicine services, maintain compliance with industry regulations, and improve patient outcomes.
Education and Training Educational institutions and training academies are leveraging custom Learning Management Systems (LMS) to provide personalized learning experiences. CodEdu has developed platforms that enable online assessments, real-time feedback, and interactive learning tools for students.
Logistics and Supply Chain Logistics companies require software that provides real-time tracking, route optimization, and automated billing. CodEdu has partnered with logistics providers to build solutions that reduce operational costs and enhance customer satisfaction.
How CodEdu Approaches Custom Software Development At CodEdu Software Technologies, we believe in a collaborative, customer-centric approach to software development. Here’s how we ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions:
Understanding Business Needs Our process begins with a detailed consultation to understand the client’s goals, pain points, and operational workflows. This ensures that the solution aligns perfectly with the business’s requirements.
Agile Development Methodology We adopt an agile approach to development, breaking the project into smaller, manageable phases. This allows for flexibility, regular feedback, and timely delivery of the final product.
Cutting-Edge Technology Our team leverages the latest technologies, including AI, machine learning, cloud computing, and blockchain, to deliver innovative and robust solutions.
Ongoing Support and Maintenance Software development doesn’t end with deployment. We provide ongoing support and updates to ensure the solution remains effective as the business evolves.
Future Trends in Custom Software Development The world of custom software development is continuously evolving. Here are some trends that are shaping the future:
AI and Machine Learning Integration Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning are enabling businesses to automate processes, predict trends, and provide personalized customer experiences. From chatbots to predictive analytics, these technologies are transforming industries.
Cloud-Based Solutions Cloud computing is revolutionizing software development by offering scalability, accessibility, and cost efficiency. Businesses are increasingly adopting cloud-based custom software to enable remote access and collaboration.
IoT-Driven Solutions The Internet of Things (IoT) is creating opportunities for custom software that connects devices and collects data in real-time. This is particularly beneficial in industries such as healthcare, logistics, and manufacturing.
Low-Code and No-Code Platforms Low-code and no-code platforms are simplifying the development process, allowing businesses to create custom software with minimal technical expertise. While not a replacement for traditional development, these platforms are enabling faster prototyping and iteration.

Instant Regret- Tadashi Hamada x Reader
“But I miss you, I’m sorry” - Gracie Abrams
⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺
You would think that no matter how big or small the arguments would get, that you would always find a way back to each other. But it really wasn’t the case for the two of you.
You’ve gotten a job opportunity at the company of your dreams. However, their office is ten thousand miles away from home. At first, you weren’t sure what to do. You built your life around getting into the company of your dreams, however you never prepared yourself for the day that you have to leave San Fransokyo. Not only that, you would be leaving Tadashi behind. But after a few days of hesitation, you decided to take the risk and go for it.
You and Tadashi were in your apartment watching your favorite TV show while eating Chinese take out. You couldn’t concentrate on the current episode of That 70’s Show because you didn’t know how to tell Tadashi about the job. If you tell him about it, he would for sure be supportive of it. Right? It’s not like he would just tell you to turn it down…
“Something wrong Y/N”? He snaps you out of your daze.
“No! Nothing’s wrong”. You quickly said.
“You sure? You barely touched your eggplant and tofu”. He pointed at your food with his chopsticks.
You look down at the take out box. It was barely half empty.
“I’m just not hungry”. You said, playing with your food.
“Y/N, if something’s bothering you, you can always talk to me”. Said Tadashi.
You look down at the food. “I guess it’s time”. You thought.
You put your food down and turned off the TV. You turned to him and gently held his hands.
“There is something I’ve been meaning to tell you”. You confessed.
“Okay”. He turns to you. “You got my full attention”.
“Well, remember I told you about that job interview for that company I always wanted to work at”? You started.
He thought for a bit before replying. “The one with the virtual reality and AI research?”
You nodded.
“Well…” you sighed.
“I got the job”. You looked up at him giving him a small smile.
His eyes lit up and he started smiling ear to ear. “Y/N that’s amazing! See! I knew they would like you”! He hugged you tightly.
“Yeah. However, they want me to work at their London office”. You added.
Tadashi’s face fell as he let go of you. “Oh, I see”.
“I know, I promised I would stay, but I didn’t think they would relocate me. But hey, we’ve been through this before. Who said we couldn’t do it again ”. You said
“Yeah, yeah totally”. Tadashi looked at the ground.
You noticed his facial expression. It was a mix of sadness and disappointment. You knew that he wouldn’t approve of this.
“Did I say something wrong”? You ask.
“It’s nothing like that, it’s just”… he trailed off
“It’s just what”? You pressed on.
He let out a sigh before continuing “I had a plan for us to move in together after college. For us to start our life together”.
“I know this is a huge shift from what we’ve planned Tadashi. But this is my dream, you know I couldn’t just let this slip by”. You said in attempts to justify your reasons .
“What about us and everything we built”? He said, emphasizing on “us”.
“Well what about me? You knew how important this job and this company is to me”! You exclaimed
“Am I not important to you”? He asks
“You are, that’s not what I meant. I just thought you would be more supportive of me”.
“I was so supportive Y/N! I supported you when you went abroad for a semester, I supported when you had that 8 week internship over the summer! I was there for you through thick and thin, and now you’re leaving again”? He raise his voice.
You tried to calm the situation down, “Tadashi please I”-
“You never think about the consequences of your decisions and how it affects others. YOU ARE SO INCREDIBLY SELFISH”. He yelled, his words piercing into your ego.
You were both sitting on opposites sides of your black leather couch. The room fell silent. The only thing you both could hear was the clock ticking away and you attempting to muffle your sniffles. But before long, you hear Tadashi letting out a sigh, breaking the short term silence. between the two of you.
“I don’t know if I can wait for you this time Y/N”. Tadashi looks at you.
“No. Please stay. I want you to stay”. Your mind screamed.
“Then leave”.
You felt the couch cushions rise as Tadashi got up. He grabbed his hat from the hooks along with his keys.
Before he closed the apartment door, he looked at you hoping you would say something to make him stay. But you just sat there and stared at the blank TV.
“Goodbye Y/N”. He shuts the door.
And that was the last time you ever saw him.
The next thing you know, you got a call from Aunt Cass. She slowly broke the news about Tadashi’s passing. At first you thought Tadashi was doing this in retaliation for what happened a few weeks ago. But after the news broke out about the fire that killed Tadashi and Professor Callahan, the sad reality settles in. Tadashi is gone.
The funeral was short and simple. You stood in silence, hovering over your late boyfriend’s tomb stone while everyone around you cried. You didn’t think this was going to happen. It wasn’t supposed to happen.
You weren’t planning on sticking around during the reception. But before you could leave, Aunt Cass stopped you.
“Tadashi wrote something for you”. She hands you a white envelope.
You thanked her and began to make your way to the door. But as you were about to leave, you made eye contact with Hiro. You were about to say something, but he disappeared into his room.
You came back to your semi empty apartment physically and emotionally drained. All of your furniture has been shipped to your new apartment in london, and the only thing left is a small white mattress and a few cardboard boxes stacked into a pyramid. You took a bottle of wine from one of the moving boxes and drank out of it. You sat on the floor, letting your head fall back against the wall. Looking down at the envelope, you carefully opened it. You took out the paper and unfolded it.
Dear Y/N,
I wanted to call or text you, but I don’t think you would respond. I’ll be sending this to you after the SFIT showcase. You know that I’m never good with words or with writing down my feelings, so bear with me.
I want to start off by saying, I’m sorry. I’m sorry for calling you selfish. You were so excited about your dream job, and I ruined our night. You were never selfish to begin with, I was. The truth is, I got scared. I know we’ve done long distance in the past, but the thought of us eventually drifting apart scared me. I should’ve been more vulnerable when it came down with these things, but I didn’t know how to bring it up.
I never want to loose you. I couldn’t imagine my life without you. Remember during our date at the butterfly gardens, we were all alone in the auditorium and I randomly blurted out “I want us to last forever”. Well, when I said forever, I meant it. I want us to last for a lifetime.
If anything, I want you to take that job. You’ve worked so hard for it and I bet you would make a great employee at the London office. understand that I cause you some pain, and I don’t expect you to forgive me now. But when you’re ready, I’ll be here, waiting for you.
I love you so much Y/N.
Sincerely,
Tadashi
You buried your head in your arms as you let out loud sobs. You cries drowned out the sounds of the thunder and rain outside.
You couldn’t help but wonder what life would be like if you never took that job offer. What would happen if you apologized to him. Telling him how much you loved him, telling him to stay. The amount of instant regret fills up your heart, and there was no way of getting rid of the grief that came with it.
“I miss you, I’m sorry”.
⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺

applying to schools (what to consider)
academic programs: ensure the schools offer strong programs in your areas of interest. there's no point getting into and attending a prestigious school if you're not interested in what you're studying.
location: think about whether you prefer an urban, suburban, or rural setting, and consider the climate and distance from home. distance from home is a big thing if you're still living at home or are not yet in university/college. i'm in tenth grade at the moment and attend a school that is around an hour and a half away from my home - but it's a great school and i enjoy the schooling!
when applying to universities outside of your state/country, research the surrounding areas so that you understand what you're getting yourself into by applying.
size: decide if you want a large university with many resources or a smaller college with a close-knit community. additionally, consider whether you'd like to learn in a fast-paced and busy city or in a more laid-back environment.
cost and financial aid: evaluate tuition costs and the availability of scholarships, grants, and financial aid. if you have the ability to apply for a scholarship/grant, do not waste the opportunity!
campus culture: visit campuses if possible or attend virtual tours to get a feel for the student life and community. this can help you understand whether or not the environment is right for you.
admissions requirements: check the average gpa, test scores, and other requirements to ensure you meet the criteria. - and then bloody work for it! make sure that you are suitable for your dream school. there is no point in researching these things if you will not work to improve them.
extracurricular opportunities: look for clubs, sports, and other activities that interest you, or that you currently participate in. sharing an extracurricular activity with a university/college may give you a talking point for your interview/admissions essay.
career services: consider the support available for internships, job placements, and career counseling.
reputation and rankings: while not the only factor, the school’s reputation and rankings can provide insight into its strengths. check the times higher education site to look at the strengths and weaknesses of your preferred college.
personal preferences: think about what matters most to you, such as diversity, study abroad programs, or specific facilities.
i hope this was helpful! ❤️nene

Please could you write something with reader trying to teach alexia english😩
PSA: I don’t speak Spanish so I sincerely apologise for any mistakes
second languages II a.putellas
"hola! ale?" you called out as you let yourself into your girlfriends apartment, bending down to scoop up nala who came hurtling at you from the sofa. "hola!" you heard the blonde call out from her bedroom as you cooed at the small ball of fluff in your arms and kicked off your shoes, sliding them to sit neatly beside your girlfriends.
you couldn't help but chuckle as you entered the bedroom to see alexia's eyes trained on the large tv on her wall, watching barcelonas last match with real madrid. a notebook and pen sat nestled in her lap, the girl clearly taking notes before their upcoming rival game this weekend.
"nadie puede decir que no estás dedicada bonita." (no one can ever say you are not dedicated) you laughed, placing nala down and shaking your head. "para ser el mejor tienes que saber todo sobre tu oponente. hola hermosa." (to be the best you have to know everything about your opponent. hi beautiful) your girlfriend shrugged, moving her notebook away and opening her arms expectantly.
"y por eso eres la mejor?" (and that is why you are the best?) you laughed, placing your keys and phone down on her desk. "si es por eso que soy la mejor." (yes, that is why i am the best) the catalan grinned as you collapsed on top of her, your arms wrapping around one another in a tight hug.
"No es que me queje al verte. pero pensé que tenías trabajo esta tarde?" (not that i am complaining to see you. but i thought you had jobs this afternoon?) alexia questioned curiously as you moved a few loose strands of hair out of her face.
"a few clients cancelled so it freed up my afternoon." you explained with a happy smile, honestly not all that bothered if it meant you got to spend more time with her.
"veo. bueno, al juego todavía le queda la mitad." (i see. well the game still has one half to go) your girlfriend smiled as you sighed, knowing her well enough that there would be very little you could say to pry her away from her match studies.
"i'm gonna go make some food then." you chuckled, pecking her lips and moving to stand but her arms stayed locked around you. "o podrías quedarte y mirar conmigo mi vida." (or you could stay and watch with me) alexia grinned, wiggling her eyebrows making you laugh.
"haré algo de comida y luego volveré y miraré. okay?" (i will make some food then come back and watch) you bargained, the blonde humming and letting you up. "si, okay."
"and don't forget, we're practicing your english later." you reminded causing the older girl to groan loudly in contempt. "ale! you promised." you warned at her response, the blonde flopping backwards and sighing.
"de repente me siento muy mal bebe. podría perder mi voz." (suddenly i am feeling very sick baby. i might lose my voice) the taller girl faked a cough causing you to narrow your eyes at her in a glare.
"alexia you are the one who asked me to help you be more confident in your english. so that you can speak easier with my family!" you warned her sternly, the midfielder whining like a child throwing a tantrum as she kicked her feet and dragged her hands down her face.
bit by the travel bug you decided to spend a summer interning in barcelona around a year and a half ago, you already knew spanish from studying it in school and so when the opportunity came up from one of your old teachers for a photography internship abroad, you'd have been stupid to say no.
that was how you'd met alexia, a few months in you'd been sent to assist on a shoot for the new fc barcelona kit drop.
you'd caught the older girls eyes right away the moment you'd first spoke, alexia finding endless amusement in the way your thick northern accent came through in your spanish.
so with some light teasing throughout the shoot you were surprised when she'd asked if you wanted to grab dinner afterward, claiming that you'd not had a proper barcelona experience until you'd eaten at some of the best places it had to offer which alexia was glad to show you.
and the rest was a story you'd probably tell your grandkids one day.
"o podrías ayudar a tu familia a mejorar su español?" (or you could help your family work on their spanish) your girlfriend suggested with an innocent smile, which promptly dropped as you only continued to wordlessly glare at her.
"fine!" alexia huffed, throwing her hands up in defeat before crossing them over her chest, pouting up at you. "that's not going to work ale. go back to your game!" you nodded to the tv, turning around and heading toward the kitchen.
~
"cual es tu horario para mañana bonita?" (whats your schedule for tomorrow) your girlfriend asked with a stretch, joining you in the kitchen from her bedroom. "hermosa?" she called out again when you didn't answer.
"in english." you turned to her with a smile, leaning against the counter as you took a bite from your sandwich. "qué?" alexia frowned as you pulled yourself to sit on the counter. "english lessons ale. i will only respond when you speak in english!" you explained with a shrug, continuing to eat your sandwich.
"mierda. uh, what are your....jobs tomorrow?" the older girl managed to get out as you nodded encouragingly. "i have a shoot at two and another at five." you answered, your girlfriends understanding of english was fine as was yours of spanish, but it was her diction that she was often insecure about.
"what time is training tomorrow?" you asked, leaning over to place your empty plate in the sink. "training is at ten." alexia answered with a little more ease and you smiled.
"okay so now lets practice like you're talking with my family." you started, jumping down from the counter and moving to the living room, both you and alexia taking a seat on the sofa.
"how have you been?" "good." "okay, they're going to want to know more than that baby. what about football? speak about that." "okay. we have been training for the..." you watched as the blonde struggled to find the right words, huffing in frustration.
"champions league?" "si. sorry, yes. champions league. barcelona lost last time, we do not want that to happen again so we train hard, we try to win all our games." "good! see, you can do it ale." you nudged the older girl with your foot, sending her a soft smile of encouragement. "you will have to help me with your father." alexia chuckled as you agreed, your dads accent easily the thickest of your families with how fast he spoke alexia often struggled to understand what he was saying.
"your accent when you speak english is very cute baby." you grinned, watching on victoriously as a small blush coated the girls cheeks, a welcome change from her often sharp demeanor.
"ojalá pudiera decir lo mismo de tu nena española." (wish i could say the same about your spanish) the taller girl sent you a smile, hands tugging at your top to pull you closer to her. "hey!" you frowned in offence at the comment as you now sat practically in her lap, her long legs reclined down the sofa.
"should i say in english too?" alexia teased as you smacked her chest with a small pout.
"there are some things you like better when i say in spanish baby girl, no?" alexias tone shifted as her eyes roamed your features with a slightly darker gaze. your face heated up at what you knew she was insinuating, her hands gently sliding up and down your bare thighs.
"...maybe some things sound better in spanish."

Hi, could I request a fic of mc and Cove (and Cliff if possible) reuniting after not seeing each other for 3 years while mc was studying abroad?
Here you go, thank you!!!
You were practically vibrating as you sat in your cramped airplane seat, your eyes glued to the window. Down below, you'd seen long stretches of green, the brown of the desert, the mountain peaks, but now, finally, you saw what you'd been waiting for.
The Pacific stretched out to the horizon, big and blue and endless. You'd seen an ocean hours ago, of course, as the plane passed over the Atlantic, but this was your ocean.
Which meant you were almost home to your ocean boy.
It had been three years since you'd been home -- three long, exciting, excruciating years. After your freshman year of college, you got the opportunity to study abroad in Europe, and you couldn't pass it up. The following summer you got an important internship, and the cycle continued until it was your senior year. You'd just graduated, and you were coming back to Sunset Bird.
In those years, your parents had visited you, but you'd been too busy to make a trip halfway across the planet. You'd kept in touch with Cove through letters and emails and occasional phone calls, and the rare video chat when you were able to find a good enough internet connection. He hadn't been able to come see you, so the last time you'd been together was when you were 19.
You were 22 now. So many things had changed, but you hoped with all you had that the special bond you had with Cove wasn't one of them.
You'd had a pretty major crush on him for as long as you could remember, maybe even since that first summer he moved to town. There was always some reason not to tell him -- you weren't sure if he felt the same way, you didn't want to risk your friendship and, most recently, you were going to be on another continent for a considerable amount of time.
But as your plane began landing and the reality that you'd be seeing him soon really started sinking in, you thought that maybe you might be ready now.
When it was time to get off the plane, you waited for the passengers ahead of you to make their way through the aisle and into the airport, checking your watch. This whole process would take a bit, then you'd have to make your way to the outside entrance for your moms to pick you up, then it was about a 30 minute drive home if traffic wasn't too bad.
You were still working out the math, trying to figure out how many minutes until you were with your best friend again, when you heard someone shout your name as you left the terminal.
And there he was -- a little taller, a little broader, and a lot more tattooed. But it was Cove.
You barely had time to process the surprise before he barreled into you, wrapping his arms tight around your waist and picking you up so you could be as close as possible. You dropped your bag and hugged him back just as fiercely, burying your face into his neck and smiling so hard it hurt.
It took him a bit to let you go, and even when he did it wasn't completely. After he set you back on the ground, he held onto your arms, stepping back just a bit to get a good look at you.
"Did you have a good trip?" he asked softly. There were tears in his eyes, but he wasn't bothering with trying to hide them.
"Yeah," you laughed, finding yourself getting a bit teary too. There was so much to say, so much to catch up on, and it felt surreal that you were actually together again.
While you were standing there looking at each other, you heard someone nearby clear his throat. You looked over and saw Cove's dad. That wide grin made yet another appearance, and you momentarily stepped away from Cove to hug Cliff.
"Hey there, kiddo," he said fondly, patting your back. "It's been too long."
"I was going to come get you myself but dad wanted to drive," Cove explained.
"Yep, thought you'd be a little too distracted to handle heavy machinery," Cliff laughed. Cove rolled his eyes, but there was no real malice there -- he was still beaming at you.
"Here, I'll get this," the older man said, leaning down to pick up the handle of your forgotten suitcase. "Now let's head home, what do you say?"
As the three of you made your way through the rest of the airport and out towards the parking lot, you and Cove stayed close together. Any worry you'd had about the reunion had evaporated as soon as he held you, but now it was clear -- things were the same as they'd always been. Hundreds of days and thousands of miles couldn't change what you had.
When you made it to Cliff's car, you climbed in the backseat, surprised when Cove hopped in beside you. You gave him a questioning look, but he just smiled and shrugged.
"I didn't want to be that far away," he said, glancing up at the front seat like it was another universe.
The two of you started catching up in ways you couldn't over all your letters, and while you thought you knew how much you'd missed him, it didn't really sink in until you had him again. Whether you decided to share your feelings or just stayed best friends, he was your person. There was no doubt about that.
Sometime after Cliff pulled out of the parking lot, Cove laid his hand down in the middle seat, his palm facing up. You met his eyes, then placed your hand in his. He laced your fingers together, giving you a squeeze, then went on talking about everything he wanted to do with you this summer.
You weren't back to Sunset Bird yet, but a warm, fluttering feeling in your stomach told you that you were home.

WIBTA for calling out my friend's spending habits?
✈💸 to find later
I (NB 20s) have been struggling to find employment for a long time. I've been struggling a lot with money- I'm technically indebted to my bank due to an overdraft I dipped into during my last weeks of university while paying off surprise fees, and in the entire year since have been unsuccessful in paying it off for any meaningful length of time. The stress has been immense and I've been avoiding like the plague any kind of personal purchase or leisure activity that might cost me anything. It's a mindset that's been making me profoundly miserable and that I'll probably struggle to get out of for a long time.
However, in the past few weeks, I've managed to land what I can only describe as my dream job. It doesn't start for another couple months, and the pay won't be fantastic (it's an internship), but without a doubt it will change my life. Desperate to do something nice and give myself a break, members of my family agreed to lend me money via plane tickets to do a nice trip this summer and see my best friends abroad, my last big hurrah before entering the full-time workforce for the rest of my life (and being able to pay them back). And I've been really excited! I've been saving even harder than usual, scraping up cash and politely asking grandparents. It won't be easy to support myself in another country in my financial situation, I understand that, but I'm at a point where I think I can do it for a short time and not be a burden on the people who are hosting me.
However, the only issue comes with my friend (NB 20s). I've known them for years, we're extremely close, and we've been waiting for a chance to see each other again for most of that time not knowing if it would ever happen due to my financial situation, so this is the opportunity of a lifetime. They really want to host me, for at least 2 weeks, and do all these nice things together we've been planning. But in the past month or so they've all but drained hundreds of dollars from their bank account in art commissions and room decorations for themself, all of which they've been excitedly showing off to me and our other friends, all the while running out of money entirely. They can't pick up work from their (seasonal) job anymore, either, so there's no way for them to earn back the money now, and recently they've started having to push their commissions just to cover their student loan payment this month. In ordinary circumstances I wouldn't mind and would try and help them out, but I won't be in any financial position on the trip to cover their bills as well as my own (at least not regularly), and I feel like this would have been so preventable if they'd just... picked less wildly expensive things to buy as a treat, knowing the circumstances.
They've said they're also stressed and need to buy themselves nice things sometimes, which I totally agree with! I'm not that much of a party pooper, they are in a rough situation themself right now and the stuff they bought does make them genuinely happy. But it also sucks to watch them then have to struggle to pay for bills and necessities because of it, and I feel really selfish for thinking of it in the framework of our time together later as well. I've done my absolute best to be able to spend at least a few weeks having a great time with them not worrying and pinching pennies while taking care of myself, but now I'm worried we're just going to spend the trip with both of us stressed out of our minds and stuck at home struggling to pay for gas. I'm an anxious person, and the few times I've tried to bring up my worries in a more gentle way, they've vehemently reassured me everything will be fine, but now I'm leaving in just over a week and everything seems like it's getting worse instead of improving.
I know I should be just glad to spend time in their company, even if it is just at home, but I can't stop feeling like the way they've been spending money in the leadup to this has been really irresponsible and preventable. But even if so, it made them happy in the moment so i should be happy for them too, and surely it's just straight up none of my business? It's also not like they can take it back now- it's already happened, and they can't earn the money back if they wanted to. I feel like if i called them on it at this point it'd just be a dick move and come across pointless and jealous, but I also can't help but think it's unproductive to let this gnaw at me the entire time, like I should really be communicating this kind of upset and talk it out first in case it comes to a head and boils over and ruins our whole time together.
I'm aware I'll be long into the trip by the time this posts but it'd be nice to look back and see other perspectives.

thinking really hard about a college au because i enjoy them a lot more than high school aus.
yuuta - pre-med, in school to become a doctor
toge - divided between computer science and dropping out of college to pursue opening his own café with a garden.
maki - pre-law, in school to become a lawyer
panda - zoology
yuuji - business degree that he’s just doing for his grandfather, will graduate but goes on to be a firefighter.
megumi - animal sciences, going on to enter veterinarian school to become a vet.
nobara - fashion design/marketing degree
gojo - a sadistic physics professor with multiple degrees, both through education and honorary, because he got bored. sometimes he picks students out to give full-ride scholarships, because he self-proclaims having too much money.
getou - philosophy professor that enjoys playing the devils advocate and watching his students squirm.
shoko - oversees the university hospital and occasionally recruits for the pre-med program
nanami - graduated with a business degree, agreed to give yuuji an internship
ijichi - gojo’s overworked TA
i just think maki and yuuta would struggle through graduate school together. their cabinets would be full of instant ramen, cabbage, junk food, and ungodly amounts of coffee. the only real food they get is because toge cooks for them and gives them the stink eye every time he opens their cabinet.
toge doesn’t really have room to talk though, he overworks himself and ends up going far too long without sleep. hours on assignments that make him miserable, burned out from the moment every semester starts. too often does yuuta find him dissociating, something he’s all too familiar with. yuuta himself suffers from insomnia, so it’s not uncommon for him to settle on the couch and run his fingers through toge’s hair until his eyes close.
toge probably had a really difficult time getting the courage to either drop out or just really not use his degree as intended. i can’t picture him genuinely enjoying higher education. even in this happy, no one dies world, his family is with the second years for a reason. computer science was appeasing enough, but the unhappiness is so draining that everyday getting up and going to class feels so impossible. he feels his happiest at the gardening club, cooking for his friends, not sitting in a lecture hall with a preview to what awaits him. but ultimately, i think the independence and knowledge that he wasn’t alone or abandoned was enough to push him into the decision. luckily enough he was a scholarship winner (gojo lol) so he wasn’t in debt, and gojo even offered to fund him through culinary school with the promise of free sweets forever.
with yuuta, i think his history of being hospitalized and the accident with rika (who is not dead here !! but she was paralyzed and had to move with a different family member who was able to support her) definitely pushed him to medical degrees. he was probably stuck between being a physical therapist, nurse, and full-fledged doctor. he still keeps in contact with rika, who is one of his biggest supporters when it comes to his goal, but he has a mental breakdown every week thinking about getting a medical degree. shoko definitely takes notice of his talent, and has extended opportunities to intern with her. gojo also found that they were distantly related, and not only paid for his entire education, but also the apartment he rents with maki and toge. he tried refuting, but gojo kept insisting that he was tapping into the family inheritance that technically belonged to both of them.
toge is more than a little devastated when yuuta decides to study abroad in their undergraduate, i actually think that’s when the fully misery of college hits him. not having an unhealthy classmate and friend to look after forced him to focus on himself, his least favorite pastime. having the first years helped, but it also forces him to reflect how much he cared about yuuta past being a friend too.
anyway, i have so many ideas for this au so um please ask me so i can word vomit everywhere. also normalize more college aus so people like me can still relate lol <3

a question to all the mfal characters who aren’t yn and jeno
have you ever witnessed them doing something cute and romantic and thought “damn they’re kinda adorable” ??
wait this question is so cute 🥹🥹
warning - BIG SMUT, threesome implication
donghyuck - once i walked into them and i was gonna leave but i can’t lie, i secretly stood the side and just watched, shit was so hot. i was so turned on
yn - [hits donghyuck] what the fuck?
donghyuck - it was so hot. you can’t blame me. it was like i was watching some irl sexy promo. jeno kept slamming his cock in and out of her, like every minute. i got hard cos i just saw the wetness leaving yn’s pussy and slicking up every time jeno pulled out, only for him to slam in again, and all of these juices and milky strings would attach to his juicy juicy cock and then he’d fuck it all into yn again. the sounds of yn’s wet pussy… jesus. he’d do it through their orgasms as well. i left after 5 minutes but i heard it for hours, these dirty cute animals were doing this all night long. i remember thinking “shit, they’re cute, i respect them.” yn kept screaming daddy and jeno kept slapping her ass and boobs, it was genuinely the best sight i’ve ever seen. i dream of it. yn kept begging jeno to cum in her and me and jeno were both a bit confused cus ??? what else has he been doing the entire night
yn - [shocked, jeno holding her back as she’s ready to throw hands and kill donghyuck] you just stood there and watched us?? fucking perv
jeno - [unfazed and turned on] i remember that hyuck, i fucked her so dumb she kept asking me to cum in her although that was what i had been doing for hours. once my girls hit her 4th orgasm of the session, she starts chatting shit
donghyuck - shits so hot
jeno - next time we do that you can join [winks at donghyuck and blows him a kiss, hisses when yn flicks her finger against his forehead with force.]
donghyuck - [facing yn, licking his lips and palming his bulge] u know me and jeno have kissed before, right?
yn - don’t pull this shit with me now, jeno’s kissed half the people on campus, i know. don’t fucking remind me.
jeno - baby, it’s more like 3/4 of campus
yn - that’s it, no sex for three weeks.
jeno - [smirks playfully] i’ll just fuck donghyuck
yn - [copies jeno’s smirk] i’ll just kill you
jaemin - yeah, i won’t ever tell them but they’re pretty cute and melt my heart
jeno - please, you tell me that all the time
jaemin - anyways, when yn and jeno graduated they both got a lot of opportunities to do internships abroad which means they have to be apart for a few weeks. they’re both so smart and care about their future so ofc they won’t pass up on the opportunities. it’s quite sad but equally heart warming when i see them say their goodbyes. they’ll hug each other at the airport for so long and it’s just sweet seeing jeno comfort her because yn gets really emotional but somehow jeno can help control it? i think it’s a superpower, i’ll hear or see yn crying her eyes out and then jeno comes up to her and hugs her and holds her and they share a few kisses, jeno whispers some sweet shit to her, he just is an overall comfort to her and it only takes a few mins for her to go back to normal.
heejin - once jeno brought me and yn tickets to some play we had been geeking out about. at first jeno wasn’t gonna come because he probably just wanted to give me and yn friendship time but yn didn’t really read the room and begged him to come 😭😭 i mean tbf i told him to come to because he’s also a fan of this play. he didn’t listen to me but yn gave him puppy dog eyes and smiled and worked her magic so he just had to say yes lmao. i’m used to third wheeling them lmao but they were pretty cute that night, they didn’t make me feel sick. it’s the little things they do, the eye contact, yn truly looks up at him and she’s the physical description of this emoji ‘🥹’ you can literally see their pupils dilate when they look at each other. you can feel the love in the atmosphere. it makes me believe that love actually is all around.
