You lived in Japan for a bit??? 👀
What do you miss the most about Japan and what do you prefer about living elsewhere??
I did :) I was on school exchange for a semester. (Was supposed to be a year, but things happened in life back home and I came back and then couldn't afford another ticket cause it is not cheap to fly to Japan from canada)
I miss conveyer belt sushi places. I miss public baths/onsen. I miss sleeping on tatami and futon (not something I got to do often, my apartment had a western bed). I miss getting on the train to Kyoto and visiting my favourite shrine (fushimi inari). I miss the temple cats. I miss the architecture.
I like the mountains where I live. I missed them when I was in Japan. I like the queer acceptance here. I like that I don't get stared at the same as I did in Japan (as a small/mid fat, tall white person with tattoos, always wearing sunglasses I stuck out).
But I'd live there again in a heartbeat if someone would go with me/take me.

meanwhile notes put up by the guy hired by my dad to help with foreign guests at his little ryokan in rural japan (“my english is not perfect,” said the guy earnestly. “but i think i can always get the meaning across.” “great,” said my dad. “that’s all that matters.”):

I have a theory about gen z and millennials, so please help me out with this poll.
Please make sure to vote as to whether you got vaccinated as a child or not, if you did not get chicken pox. Take care, spread this around, and vaccinate your fucking kids. Poll is not exclusive to any country. Vote no matter where you're from.

I don't mean it in a creepy way I promise, but I feel a kinship with China, Japan and Korea i wish more people from my region shared, because...we have sister ecosystems!
It's actually amazing, there are so many plant genera that are not closely related to anything else and just have a couple living species: One (or two) from mid latitude Southeast Asia, and one from the Southeastern USA.
For example, the two living lotus species (sacred lotus and American lotus), the two living tulip tree/ Liriodendron species, the Chinese and American sweetgums (Liquidambar spp.) the Chinese and American trumpet vines (Campsis spp.) the Chinese, Japanese and American wisteria (Wisteria spp), the Chinese, Taiwan and American sassafras (Sassafras spp.) I KNOW i'm forgetting many of them because there are so many. Twins!!!!
And there's so many iconic plant groups shared in common between East Asia and SE USA. Like dogwoods, magnolias, rhododendrons, we even have our own bamboo!!!
I think a lot of how strangely familiar each ecosystem would feel to someone visiting from the other one.
And I bet there's a lot of ecological knowledge and insights we could share with each other...
Sister ecosystems...

Look at this cool new t-shirt I made for fans of Abraham Lincoln! I made it on my own time, with my own resources, and without any affiliation to existing public or private institutions concerned with history, education, hospitality, culture or retail. You can find it at my new Threadless shop or directly at bit.ly/imissabe

The systems supporting genocide, apartheid and occupation are entrenched.
But they are more exposed now than ever.
They are breaking. Keep pushing.

I was watching a documentary about ancient Japanese swords.
Next thing I know, a Japanese sword is in my hand, I'm in samurai armour and there is a another samurai guy tied up in front of me.
I beheaded him then I woke up :D.

Katsuki Yuuri is so funny because dude is an Olympic level figure skater who competes internationally regularly and he introduces himself through narration in the first episode as very average in skill, who is doing it like him.
Your self confidence may be bad but is it deluding yourself into thinking you suck at something you rank sixth in the world at bad?

People will complain about Israeli Miku because "genocide/apartheid/[insert other grievance here]..." and then say nothing about any other Miku drawn as a country who's government has done anything wrong. No one says anything about Chinese, Iranian, Ethiopian, American, Russian, Nigerian, German, Sudanese, etc Miku. That would be racist. Claiming that a character is depicting a genocidal maniac for being portrayed as a civilian from a country with a problematic government would be racist.
It's very clear your problem is not with a character being associated with a country that has committed atrocities, but rather that the country you have a problem with is the Jewish one. If you were truly so intent on not seeing any character in any way associated with any country with problematic leadership (which is nearly impossible, but I digress), you would be complaining about every Miku drawn in this trend, not just the Israeli ones.
You are mad about Israeli Miku because of your antisemitic, anti-Jewish bias, not because you just hate atrocities. Characters (and people) existing from a country whose government you don't like is not evil and it is ridiculous to get mad over it. If you responded this way to any other ethnic drawing of Miku, you would be racist. People would call you out for your racism.
Ask yourself, am I criticizing the Israeli government? Or am I attacking a random person and character for their nationality?

Just thought about … oh my god. Bakugo’s first real battle with a formidable villain after your kid is born; he’s not exactly “out of shape” (he never quit the gym, routine, etc… just changed it), but he’s thrown down hard in the first couple seconds, and he’s slower to get back into position—taking the time to steady his feet and assess the terrain, pushing out the lil tummy he gained feeding you postpartum delicacies as he cracks his back—
And the villain, god help them, decides to call out to him as they use the few seconds of vulnerability to attack again, screaming, “hey pop pop, don’t tell me parenthood has made you soft! How ‘bout I start calling you ‘daddy,’ too?”
Just as Bakugo’s turning back around with a new fire in his eyes, blood all warmed up, and shooting off to grab them by the throat to end the fight in one single move.
