Omnidirectional build Mk0

I got hold of a cheap little driver in London for £15. It's rated for 200W peak power, 40Hz-10kHz (so sadly not much high frequency once the lamellae are attached!) I removed the rubber sleever and the dust-cap

Next I used some grocery-store plastic sheeting (what they put up promotion signs/prices with) that can be moulded using hot water. I used a metal grille bent into a curve to make curves out of the plastic, then cut them into roughly the right shape. I made the paper shape guide by just rotation a ruler held at one end - this was totally eyeballed and could've been done much better, more precisely etc.

Then I attached some sticky-backed weather stripping to each of the lamellae (aka petals), and used double-sided tape to stick them onto the speaker cone. I used a log with a notch cut into it, attached through the speaker magnet's central hole with a long screw, to hold the tops of the lamellae.

Then with a bit of wiggling and more double-sidede tape I attached all the lamellae together at the top. I used some washing up gloves cut into strips as (very makeshift) gaskets to mostly seal the gaps between the lamellae. Again, I used double sided tape to do this. To be honest that was the most fiddly part. Washing up gloves cut with scissors are not an ideal Radialstrahler gasket material!

And there it is! It doesn't sound terrible on its own, but as the driver is only rated up to 10kHz (and who knows what impact the radialstrahler build has on the theoretical frequency response!) I had to wire it in to an old bookshelf speaker's tweeter to get a bit more high-end.

Tomorrow and Wednesday are going to combine to murder you, y'all. Both good and bad.

Tomorrow night I'm going to go see Come From Away an hour and a half away from me after work which is good but also fucking ridiculous.

And then on Wednesday I'm going to a training at an ABA center (auuugh) that includes Autism 101 (double auuuugh) and that I should take a ride share to which I never do and I am stressed. Stressed.

I just want to share some of the things I was able to think through. Sabi ko hindi muna ako magtatake ng boards this year kasi hindi pa pala ako handa haha. Since I'm already graduating, I suddenly felt all the stress, pain at pagod sa ilang taong nag-aaral ako ng med sa kalagitnaan ng pandemic haha kaya nabago rin yung perspective and passion ko tbh, pero noong wala pang pandemic gustong gusto ko to kahit maiyak-iyak ako sa sobrang hirap non haha pero nung nagpandemic talaga nabago na lahat, Idk, but, studying in the midst of pandemic is challenging talaga. The struggle of being awake while listening thru virtual lectures and keeping your mental processes while reading numerous med books, notes.. etc.. is really a struggle. We all know that is kind of challenge because we can’t feel the urge to study. Or baka ako lang nakakafeel neto??HAHAHAHA anw, sa isip ko kailangan ko muna ng pahinga? hahaha pakiramdam ko kapag hindi ako magpapahinga kakainin lang ako ng takot and pressure. Aba syempre magtatrabaho ako after maka-grad since March 2025 pa naman balak ko magtake ng MTLE. Gusto ko parin ipursue tong degree na to kasi isa rin to sa pangarap ko haha. Ang mantra pa naman ng iba ay "take it or regret it"? ehh syempre for me gusto ko one take lang ng boards and buong buo loob ko like 101% ready, for me lang ha? If you're ready, take it, If you're not, then take your time. Why regret if given more time to prepare, you would be readier and more confident to take the exam, rightttt?

So ayun hehe I will continue to work towards achieving my goals and dreams, and will live my life to the fullest with lots of blessings, love and success! I am not rushing or racing. I am deliberate and dedicated. ˙ᵕ˙

Modern Autism

Autism is a complicated diagnosis, and it’s been treated differently over the years. In the modern day, people with autism are treated better than ever, but there’s still work to be done.

One of the more recent developments in the autism diagnosis is in the DSM-V, in which the several subcategories of autism were changed in one umbrella term: Autism Spectrum Disorder. This change allowed people to clarify their understanding and acceptance of people with autism because it changed a lot of finicky diagnoses to something simple.

More people with autism are being diagnosed than they were even two years ago. New data shows that 1 in 44 children are being diagnosed with autism, in comparison to 1 in 54 in 2020. Experts believe that this is because of improvements in identification, diagnosis, education, and referrals to services. This results in more people being able to get treatment for their autism.

Speaking of treatment, there are lots of ways for autism to be treated. While there is no cure for autism, and it’s controversial as to whether there should be, there are lots of ways for those with autism to be able to live their lives easier. Some of these include changing behaviors using Applied Behavioral Therapy (ABA), improving language development using Speech and Language Therapy, improving the ability to live as independently as possible using Occupational Therapy, and improving social skills using social-relational approaches.

There is controversy regarding ABA, however. The earliest verions of the treatment involved punishments when behaviors seen as negative such as stimming (self-stimulating behavior such as rocking back and forth and flapping hands). While this isn’t the case anymore, it is still built into the bones of the treatment. It is also very focused on eliminating behaviors instead of building skills. Autistic self-advocates believe that ABA attempts to make people with autism fit neurotypical standards instead of working with the different needs people with autism have.

Most people with autism do not support ABA, and there are better treatment options for autism.

What does this mean for women with autism?

New research and better education has allowed more doctors to understand the differences in how autism presents in men and women which allows them to better diagnosis women with autism. Many women with autism who are undiagnosed develop other mental health problems in response to the stress of dealing with autism without resources.

Generally, things are better in the world of autism. However, better resources and research are still needed.

Nepatīkami un patīkami notikumi Ļvovā

Nometnē mēs esam sadalīti rotās un grupās. Uz darbu ejot, šis sadalījums netiek ievērots. Jau divas nedēļas esam strādājuši uz dzelzceļa divos baros ar 100 gūstekņiem katrā. Arī sargi ir tie paši. Katra sargu komanda apsargā savus 100 gūstekņus. Darba laikā abas grupas strādā kopā un sargu ķēde ir izvietota darba vietai apkārt. Dažas dienas esmu vienā sargu apsargātā barā, citas dienas otrā.

Kādā priekšpusdienā mūs kā parasti nostāda saskaitīšanai. Katrs sargu brigadieris skaita savus 100 gūstekņus. Izrādās, ka viena gūstekņa nav. Pārskaita otro grupu... Tajā izrādās 101 gūsteknis. Tad sāk noskaidrot, kurš tas ir. Es vienaldzīgi stāvu, skatos debesīs, kur, kā Veidenbaums teicis, "…kā gulbji balti padebeši iet", un man pat prātā neienāk, ka esmu sajaucis sargu pie nometnes sastādītās komandas.

Ar pārējo gūstekņu palīdzību tomēr noskaidrojas, ka tas esmu es. Tad mani nežēlīgi lamājot un grūstot izsauc no ierindas. Es pat brilles nepaspēju noņemt. Man liek gulties ar seju uz leju. Es turu zem pieres mazliet izliektas plaukstas, jo man pa pakausi sit ar šautenes laidnes galu. Tas gan ir vairāk citu iebiedēšanai, jo ar smago šauteni stiprāk sitot, mana galva sašķīstu kā sapuvis ābols. Viss tiek pavadīts ar daudziem krievu lamuvārdiem. Krievu valoda šajā jomā laikam ir visbagātākā pasaulē. Tad mani uzrauj kājās un birst jautājumi krievu valodā: "Ko, bēgt sagatavojies?" Es: "Nē, nav kur bēgt." "Kāpēc tur nostājies?" Es: "Sajaucu. Vienu dienu pie jums, citu dienu tur. Visi šie gūstekņi no vienas rotas."

Esmu paēdis, pret visu apkārt notiekošo galīgi vienaldzīgs un aizsapņojies. Šajā brīdī gan mani nolaiž no sapņu debesīm uz šīs Ukrainas zemītes un turpinās jautājumu krusa:

"Sieva ir?" Es: "Nav." "Tēvs, māte ir?" Es: "To es pašreiz nezinu." "No kurienes krievu valodu zini? Tu esi "vlasovecs"?" Es: "Esmu latvietis. Skolā krievu valodu mācīja." "Bļeģ (блядь), gulies grāvī!"

Tad mani ar kājas spērieniem ieveļ nelielā gravītī, kurā cauri pagājušā gada zāles paliekām tek kādus 5 cm dziļa pavasara ūdens straumīte. Mums iepriekš ir izdoti lietoti vatēti pusmēteļi "pufaikas". Tās ir siltas, un pārmērīgu aukstumu es nejūtu. Es vēl stenu, vaidu un tēloju, ka man ir ļoti slikti. To sargi grib arī panākt, jo tas ir domāts citu iebiedēšanai. Jau nākamajā dienā notiek arī patīkams notikums mūsu dzīvē. Visi baltieši tiek nostādīti rindā un mums tiek paziņots, ka mēs drīz brauksim mājās. Pagaidām gan vēl neesot pienācis šis laiks, bet mums esot atļauts aizrakstīt uz mājām. Skenario-Nya

Bukan konten Tumblr sih. Tapi tetap mau nulis ini di sini biar ingat.

Hidup lucu banget sih wkwk kayaknya ini akan jadi super curhat dan geer. Tapi benar-benar di luar dugaan banget. Wkwk emangnya siapa saya sok bisa menduga-duga hal yang belum terjadi? Wkwkwkwk.

Hari ini sebenarnya harusnya akan menjadi hari sendu saya sih, sudah mellow banget bawaannya hari ini dari pagi atau (bahkan dari malam). Kayaknya ada 101 alasan untuk menangis hari ini (dan memang sempat nangis juga sih www) tapi tenang post ini bukan berisi tulisan sedih nan galau. Tulisan ini akan penuh rasa syukur. Alhamdulillaah masih diberikan rasa-rasa ini.

Seperti yang saya bilang, harusnya hari ini saya akan sedih seharian. Sudah kebayang sih gak mood ngapa-ngapain dan mau tidur seharian untuk balas dendam tidur malam yang tidak ada lelap-lelapnya. Tapi tiba-tiba diajak keluarga makan ke luar dalam rangka sudah sidangnya adik saya. Ini rencananya sudah dari kemarin-kemarin, tapi lucunya seperti sudah skenario-Nya menunda rencana itu agar baru terlaksana hari ini; hari yang harusnya saya gunakan untuk mengurung diri di kamar seharian.

Berangkat dari rumah gak hujan. Cerah. Sampai-sampai saya mikir, ini malu lah kalau saya mellow di hari yang cerah, gak cocok. Wkwkwk. Tapi pas sampai tujuan malah hujan wkwkwkwkwk. Lucu banget tadi beneran tiba-tiba senyum sendiri lihat hujan tiba-tiba menderas.

Tidak ada yang memperkirakan akan hujan. Apalagi tadi masih terang. Saya pun mengurungkan niat untuk bawa payung karena mikirnya, "cerah kok, gak hujan". Di situ sih lucunya, kadang di saat kita merasa nyaman, akhirnya kita lupa mempersiapkan hal-hal yang padahal biasanya sudah kita siapkan untuk tetap aman. Agak tertampar tapi ya benar juga, kadang hujan memang turun tiba-tiba, tanpa aba-aba, dan kita tetap harus melanjutkan perjalanan dengan berbagai cara. Semoga ditunjukkan cara yang baik ya. Aamiin.

Pulang-pulang dari pergi rasanya sepi lagi pas masuk kamar. Menatap langit-langit kamar sempat jadi terlalu memikirkan hal-hal yang mungkin saya belum bisa tahu jawabannya sekarang. Bawaannya sudah sedih lagi, padahal tidak ada yang terjadi. Tapi ya memang masih kepikiran sih.

Tiba-tiba ada chat masuk. Ajakan ke luar lainnya. Ya ampun ini kalau boleh geer, ini tuh bukti nyata penerapan "la tahzan innallaaha ma'ana" banget gak sih? Kayak awalnya ajakan pergi ini harusnya jumat malam after office. Tapi tiba-tiba diundur, awalnya mau malam minggu tapi gak jadi juga, dan malah jadinya minggu malam. Serta pas sekali ketika saya mulai sendirian di kamar lagi.

Terus harusnya tadi pagi lari, karena sudah lama gak lari. Minggu lalu jalan-jalan ke pantai dari sabtu pagi sampai minggu malam jadi ga lari. Dua minggu lalu pun gagal lari karena kecapekan pulang malam terus pas weekdays (wkwk alasan). Tadi pagi jadinya gak lari juga saya, karena semalem ga bisa tidur, jadi pagi-pagi takut tewas kalo maksain lari. Sesuatu yang dipaksakan ga baik kan?

Tapi benar-benar ini saya geer banget sih tiba-tiba malam ini yang rencana awalnya cuma makan-makan sushi harusnya, tapi sushinya rame banget jadi pindah mall :") Dah kayak beneran diskenarioin begitu karena kalo jadi di mall yang ada sushi itu, gak ada timezone jadi saya pasti tidak mendapatkan kesempatan untuk olahraga di timezone wkwkwkwkwk geer banget tapi beneran merasa ini skenario hari ini bagus banget sih parah sampai-sampai sesemangat itu saya main basket di timezone bisa sampai keringetan karena berapa ronde ya saya tadi paling banyak wkwk dah gitu saya nobatkan diri saya sendiri menjadi mvp malam ini di ring basket timezone👍

Oh kurang satu lagi. Tadi waktu masih nunggu teman-teman yang lain datang jadi menemani seorang teman beli buku gitu, buku bacaan serius dan berat. Wkwk jadi tertampar kalau saya mungkin perlu kembali membaca-baca lagi deh, biar saya belajar. Pas bangetnya teman ini tiba-tiba cerita alasan dia beli buku itu karena memang sedang mendalami dan mempelajari bidang itu di tahun ini akibat sempat mendapatkan sebuah 'kejadian' waktu awal-awal pandemi. Terus kalau ini juga skenario-Nya untuk mengingatkan saya: Ayo kamu kan juga habis diberikan sebuah 'kejadian', belajar dong, mulai banyak baca-baca lagi dong! Wkwkwk geer banget tapi beneran lucu banget sih hidup.

If not for Aleister Crowley and Anton Szandor LaVey the occult would probably not be so crowded. That's good and bad, I guess. A smaller crowd means there would be more quality works rather then the same subjects regurgitated ad infinitum by every Witch 101 author. Then again, these works would be still rare and on the expensive end, I assume. Small crowds equals rarity because of obscure knowledge being presented in a public domain. Obscure knowledge can be expensive and difficult to come by, especially if the author is known in small but prominent circles.

A large crowd may also be bad, as we see today, because everyone thinks they're a wickedy witch or high level sorceror because they mastered the art of masturbating on doodles. I've done it. Still, there is so much more to magic then masturbation and amateur artwork.

I wonder if the occult would be so prominent in my life if I never got Kathryn Paulson's Magic & Witchcraft or Anton Szandor LaVey's The Satanic Bible. I was raised in Scientology, so maybe I would have made my way to Western Occultism eventually. There wasn't much, but Crowley's name was mentioned in a few of L. Ron Hubbard's works, particularly calling him the Master Therion (a.ka. Great Beast) in one of his lectures. The little library of non-Scientology books they did have at my local Org had a copy of Crowley's Magick: Book 4, Liber ABA. They will never admit Hubbard and Crowley's friendship/magical associations, though.

Maybe I would have gone full Daoist since I was raised by a martial artist who personally knew the local kung fu master. A Westerner, but no less prolific and skilled in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Daoist Martial Arts, and Medical Qigong. No matter how crowded or miniscule the occult world is, those of us that seek the Forbidden Fruit of Knowledge may always be presented oppurtunities to further their magical curiosities. At least I would hope so.
