Kind of an angsty one:

Leo didn't know he had AuDHD at the time he was made leader. But even then, the idea of having to continuously mask his "habits" (symptoms) for the rest of his life in order to fill that role terrified him.

His family didn't find out what was up until after the invasion, when Leo was in the midst of a particularly bad shutdown. That lead to a long talk about making accomodations.

fr though everyone knows leo is more than capable of being a leader, with or without his symptoms, it was just frustrating to see him try to shirk it off, hoping they'd revoke his leadership so he wouldn't have to mask and inevitably fxck everything up

leo: intentionally being a shxthead so they'd demote him

everyone: dude wtf is wrong with you

leo: on the verge of a shutdown while the kraang are killing everyone

the hamatos: dude wt-oh.

everyone pieces it together and the next time leo tries to degrade himself for x thing he does, someone goes, "No you're just autistic/you have adhd, it's fine, stop being mean to yourself." and then it takes several months for leo to realize he's been assigned audhd by family (AABF)
