i’m thinking about how agatha says “my thoughts are not available to you, toots. they never, ever were. so don’t go giving yourself a migraine” to wanda and then “you’ll get a nosebleed trying that hard to read my mind” to billy.

a few things about this are interesting to me, particularly because of the layered ulterior motives she has for saying it:

1- agatha’s need to brag about being stronger lol

2- the fact that it does sound almost protective, the way she chooses to let them know they might get hurt from trying too hard. idk if it was just wanda, i could let it go, but i feel like it’s meaningful that it’s wanda AND billy, you know?

because we know for sure agatha cares about billy and she would try to avoid him hurting himself, so the fact that she used such a similar tactic on wanda makes me feel like it might have been a tiny hidden shred of evidence that she didn’t want to cause wanda any more hurt than necessary, either.

and, most notably,

3- we don’t have an origin story for agatha’s ability to block out telepathy, but to me those scenes might indicate that she taught herself that skill, rather than having been born with it. because maybe, if beings as powerful as wanda and/or billy tried hard enough, they would be able to read her mind. and she doesn’t wanna risk that, so she just makes it very clear that they can’t and sorta hopes to hell they’ll believe it.

aaanyaways, this just crossed my mind and i wanted to share and maybe ask if you have any thoughts on it?

First of all, YES to Agatha teaching herself how to block out telepathy. On the shows we only scratch the surface of her immense self-taught knowledge, which I think is a cornerstone of her character. We get plenty of clues, from a very young Agatha accused not of murder but of stealing "knowledge above [her] age and station," to Agatha being constantly shown learning from books and teaching Nicky, to her whole relationship with the Darkhold, not to mention how she seems to understand Wanda's and Billy's powers better than they ever could.

I imagine her being obsessed with chaos/reality magic as soon as she learned about it from the Darkhold (because it's the only thing powerful enough to go against Rio's laws of nature / bring Nicky back) and as a consequence she learned to block telepathy, or if she already knew how, she definitely set out to become the greatest thought-blocker in history, she's just the kind of nerd who would do that. Plus she's extremely jealous of her inner thoughts and feelings, she regards her sorrows and fears as her greatest weakness, so it stands to reason that she'd be eager to learn how to hide them from everyone. I've talked about Agatha not giving a damn about being physically naked, it's her mind she wants to keep secret, and that is why being so uncensored as Agnes was much more humiliating.

Agatha boasting her thought-blocking abilities to Wanda and Billy has layered reasons like you pointed out – that's what I love about her, she's both complex and very predictable in her complexity. She's showing off, she's proud she's better than them at their own game. She's also calculating because you never know, they could break her barriers if they tried hard enough so better discourage them. And I don't know if she was being protective of Wanda too, maybe unconsciously.

But with Billy there was more overt affection, and I keep thinking how important it is for Billy to have someone in his life that is not constantly screaming in his head, and how significant the little exchange they had on the couch is, in retrospect. "I like it here. It's because it's quiet. You're quiet, Agnes." I like to imagine the whirlwind of thoughts this produced in Agatha, because you know her mind is always going a million miles a minute. In that moment her relationship with Billy was truly born I think, in all its three aspects: selfish (this is Wanda's son with Scarlet Witch-like powers that I can steal for myself), selfish in a different way (this is a magical little boy that I can claim and raise as my own, like I never could with Nicky) and selfless (I'm sorry for this kid born with powers he doesn't understand, I need to protect him.) So yes, I guess that even if she was smothering out the protectiveness she felt for Wanda, with Billy she's more ready to embrace it.

a very small, tiny, itty bitty detail i love to see in other peoples drawings of the Losers, especially as adults or young adults even, is what kind of fashion is given to them

like its almost a given that everyones Richie has some weird collection of shitty t-shirts with some nerd thing attached to it. Or brightly colored button ups with polka dots and stripes.

Eddie seems to stump everyone because i've seen him from everything to sweaters, to expensive formal wear, to neon rainbow tank tops. Personally i always saw that guy, with his bright pink and blue polo shirts and simple plain tees, as just a mixed bag of beans. He still dresses like mommy picked out clothes that she thinks would look super handsome on him, with his little stiff gelled combed hair to match. But he rarely, probably has anything that has actual words or icons on his shirts. Maybe a national park sweater here and there, that guy probably loooves gift shops. I think now with his big boy money he'll stray away from his usual get up, splurge a little, buy something branded, something new and expensive. Also something stupid, like shoes that are way too expensive. He's a fake sneakerhead, only really investing in brands he THINKS are cool or trendy. Not that he cares too much about being trendy and cool, like Richie probably does. Just...gets an ear worm sometimes, whispering to him about how they aren't that bad looking, and that he's buying it for himself, not because some jackass on tv wore them. Maybe a shiny new watch too, and maybe even a band shirt for pj-only purposes. Otherwise he's pretty strict on his expenses and just buys what fits and works as a shirt, pants, etc. Comfort over design, squarish in appearance, boxy and casually professional. I don't see him wearing a suit outside of work or waltzing into his nearest cheap café with a confident blazer and matching ironed pants. I doubt that guy even owns an iron, probably forgot to even buy one after mummy-kins passed. Even after she screeched and raved about it too, and he just ignored her tangents, assuming it wasn't even that important, all while his shirts became crinklier and sadder much like him. Sometimes i see people make him almost tooooo strict and formal and buttoned up, to y'know match Richies more casual and stoner-dork like style that's sometimes assigned to him. But Eddie, to me, is always a business casual kinda guy. Like, paid business trip to a golf course casual. Throwing on what's comfortable, giving a healthy amount of thought to what people might think of you. You will NOT find this man dressed to the nines at home, but he does, in fact, have a little pocket protector on his stupid shirt. With a pen or pencil thrown in just to make use of it, an old candy wrapper he forgot about and WILL get washed with it, or a few crumbs from his earlier microwaved breakfast burrito he had to scarf down before Myra had something to say about its ""toxic"" ingredients.

His clothes probably vary in size by a very small margin. Knowing a ball park guess of his pants and shirt sizes, always forgetting to add in it going through the washer, or how a size 30 is a size 31 in Canada or whatever. Probably because he was so used to mummy buying everything for him, even into his early 20s in college. Now he's free from her suffocating grasp, he still copies her sense of fashion and rarely does anything outlandish or fashionable. I think later down the line, in the cannon he survives and goes off to live a happily ever after with Richie, that he'd begin to explore a bit more. Getting that sugar baby money helps, and he'd have to try and buck up with Richie, trying to copy him slightly in terms of fashion.

Your dragon art brings me so much joy. Would you ever consider adding larger prints to your shop? The red dragon on the bridge you recently posted and the dragon painting on the cave entrance are some of my favorites but I struggle to find ways to display smaller prints that make sense

I suppose i could try forcibly up-scaling the size, the quality would suffer though... T^T

... I'm curious now, anyone know if you can scan images so that they're bigger than the original (but still good quality)? I would definitely do that for my future images.

okay so I'm reading through a few more posts about the luca situation, and while now I've calmed down and recognized that it's "unsanctioned" and also "fanart", that still doesn't tamp down my excitement! it still means a lot that even the co-director on the movie had similar queer interpretations like the rest of us, and it's still sweet!

hello, i come bearing questions again! what do you think it was about agatha that made her the one person rio fell in love with? i keep thinking about it, because rio is this endlessly wise, patient entity and agatha is essentially a child. part of me feels like for a being as old as rio, it’s so curious that she’d fall for someone who is her opposite in so many ways. i understand the whole cliche about opposites attracting but let’s be real, there’s a limit to that LOL. on the other hand, i can see how agatha’s genuine love for life and even her immaturity would be, in some ways, refreshing to rio. i also wonder how rio would feel about agatha’s serial killing. ep 4 hints at them having been ‘business associates’ at some point, and i imagine that they might have fallen in love during that period. however, similarly as she feels when agatha tries to cheat death, would rio feel like she was being violated as agatha maybe started killing too much and perhaps upsetting the sacred balance in the other direction? anyways, i have many thoughts and no actual conclusions - do you have any opinions on what about agatha would make rio fall in love and what rio might not have enjoyed about her, especially in the beginning? this feels like a particularly difficult question considering those two because i i imagine rio might actually fall deeper in love because of the things that peeved her lmao i love that weirdo

IMO in order for Rio to fall in love with Agatha three unusual things had to happen:

Proximity. Agatha had to constantly be in Rio's way, because of all the killing. Now I don't know if Rio would be neutral about a serial killer's activity (does it break balance, if it's only humans killing each other? Consider that wars kill so many more.) As far as we know she could be neutral, she could be hostile, she could even be encouraging, we can only speculate at this point. What's certain though is that Rio's and Agatha's paths crossed a lot, and that had to be an unusual experience for a being that only meets most people only once, when she reaps their soul.

Uniqueness. Other people are bound to act in very predictable ways when meeting Rio, they'd try to run, beg or fight. Knowing Agatha, I'm 100% sure that she went the opposite route and tried to make friends. Mind you it would have been all lies and manipulation and ulterior motives at first, Agatha would have been both terrified and fascinated by Rio, and she'd have absolutely wanted to control the situation and gain the upper hand and find out if she could steal Rio's powers. Rio would've seen through it all and still tolerated and even enjoyed Agatha's antics for the novelty of it.

Intimacy. It would have taken some time for sure, but proximity (quality time spent together) and uniqueness (Agatha being the only person who ever wanted to be around Rio, and Rio being the only person who can never kill or be killed by Agatha) had to bring them to trust each other and open up to each other, and eventually it all came together and evolved into feelings. Rio would have gotten to know the real Agatha behind all the posturing, and how can you not love that Agatha? Simply put: they became each other's first real, important, intimate relationship, and that has a way to imprint on a person. Of course if it's only two people against the whole world that becomes codependent and toxic real fast, and I think Rio knew it but still couldn't help herself or tear herself away from Agatha.
