so everything i figured out at home translated beautifully to unreal

and i can't believe it worked!

I'm keeping the b/w version in to visualize what you're masking, and it feels pretty nice to play with the sliders

there's just one problem...

as you might've noticed, an object completely masked in black still appears doubled because it is directly next to a white pixel

so now the question stands:

how can we "grow" the black sections exactly 1 pixel left and right?

my current idea is to multiply every pixel with its neighbors, this way any white pixel (val 1) next to any black pixel (0) turns black. or even if it's close to black, it will adopt the value of that pixel. multiplying pixels like this can only darken them. but that feels inexact and potentially costly? i wonder what kind of noises this might generate? not to mention I have no idea how to get this to work (i have very little experience scripting)

maybe some kind of blur?

ok wait. this is a really stupid idea, but it just might work:

We duplicate the entire depth pass, move it over 1 pixel, and multiply that with the original.

we might have to do this twice (per L + R)

this feels way more costly processing-wise than the kernel thing, but it will probably take less time to figure out

i guess there's only one way to find out!

Hi again anon! It went well; we did make a few posts about it, you can check my personal tag since I was usually the one fronting in the evenings after a day full of fun. If all goes according to plan, we might get to see The Panopticon again before the end of the year, but we'll see how things go. Either way, I think it's safe to say we both really care about each other and we make good partners. Buuuut that said, while I'm here - system update I guess? We uh, kind of worked out over the past couple of weeks that the fusions from the Mass Fusion were "incomplete", probably because of how quickly it all happened. What the Mass Fusion actually did was group all of us up into 11 low-complexity subsystems, that individually resemble OSDD-1a. So for anyone who's not familiar - OSDD-1a is similar to what we have (alters but no blackout amnesia), but unlike 1b there's much less identity disruption, so there's little to no distinction between alters. Everyone shares the same or similar identity, even if they have different sets of memories. And subsystems are like systems within systems - it's a group of alters sharing a single in-system body. So there were still switches happening internally, between our different "selves" - and we didn't figure it out until Vivien started showing signs of weirdly inconsistent amnesia, and other unusual behavior. They'd get upset, forget why, then suddenly get upset over the same thing a few hours later like they were picking up where they left off - and when they weren't upset, they had no memory of what they were saying while upset, and vice-versa. Then the others started to realize they'd had similar things happen, and... yup. We are working on fusing "properly" though, now we know what the problem is - and a few of us have already successfully integrated some of our parts. Chaos is the most recent of us to do this, and we're all very proud of it. But the whole ongoing process is leaving us really exhausted, so if you see us posting less on the whole, it's because we're resting off the hard work our brain's doing to heal itself. Everyone in system's taking a collective rest day today, and I think we needed it. And you take care too, anon, wherever you are.

do you ever think about the fact that on a random wednesdaythursday in a city practically 40 years away from being claimed by the sea and yet has put unimaginable money time and resources into pump systems to delay the onset for just a little while and yet is still plauged with flooding problems and is riddled with construction all around its city center making it both a "go-to destination" in terms of things to do and also a carcass of itself... in a little club... there is romance being borne anew again. quite frankly its beautiful may the hollow slabs of concrete bless this little coupling and may they ever continue to bring a precious bond to this team

also the juxtaposition of them being in their own world while lundy bounces and tries to hype up the crowd dear god i dont think any finn on this team knows how to dance but bless this dork anyways its the vibe that matters and hes passing with flying colours

also drunken sidestory that is sasha turning around and bumping into uvis and IMMEDIATELY GRABBING his shoulder to read the name of the jersey and going "Ba-lin-skis? Ah your name? Your name :)!" and uvis going "yeah :)!" and drags him into a hug like there was any other reaction he could have but hug the teddy bear that is sasha
