Yesterday. We blazed across the midlands, burning through every decaying town in our path, sweeping through cities made of glass, lights clustered behind us in the distance. More than a place, we were escaping lives that felt at once unbearably short and long, lives with no room for being alive inside them. Now, asphalt over Nashville, I was watching all of that crumble. I was seeing the murky red future flatten itself like a canvas, the landscape bleeding from mountain to mossy grave, the star-spangled heartstring of the stretching road. We were singing the Mountain Goats as the past burned in the rearview.

What I remember most was Zell, knuckles white on the steering wheel, hair in a flurry, dark-brown eyes lit ablaze. Screaming to the song at the top of our lungs, what I remember thinking is this: I hope we fucking crash, I hope we die, I hope it's messy and unavoidable, our flesh and bones mangled together for all eternity. Because nothing will ever be more exactly right than this—alive, electric. Free.

Hey, you're being lied to about what fitness constitutes. If you can't work in an hour-long crossfit slog, but you can work in a five-minute walk, then that is still fitness. If you can't use your legs but you can do arm circles every now and again, that is still fitness. If you're moving around at work, that's still fitness. It can be intentional or incidental, but here's the best part: your body doesn't care if you're dedicating specific work-out times. It doesn't care if the "only" fitness it gets is your nine to five on your feet. It doesn't care, fitness is fitness is fitness. Some of us do it differently, but the end result is more or less similar.

If you can do any type of fitness safely, your body isn't going to care if you're doing it like an Olympic athlete or if you're just a casual.

this is so much like. i did a presentation abt the amount of anime & manga fics on ao3 once and compared the biggest fandoms from this category. (bc I wanted bsd to qualify) the minimal amount of fics was 40000. as you can see, there are only 11 media that meet this requirement (unless I missed some - was doing it manually). and those are some popular anime too.

these are data from february 21, 2023. there have been 12709 bsd fics written since then, just on ao3. that's an enormous number. our fandom has grown by 25,59% in half a year.

for comparison, here's how the other fandoms have changed:

the numbers are from the "anime & manga" category under the "fandoms" section on ao3. when you click directly on a tag, they slightly vary. idk why that is, but that's why the amount of bsd fics is different than the one in the 1st picture, where it's 61957. last time I got the data from the "anime & manga" category, so that's why I did the same now. however if it turned out the numbers weren't accurate there and the real ones were shown when you click at a tag, then it doesn't make a big difference when it comes to the calculation and comparing the fandoms.

so. when it comes to how many bsd fics have been posted since the end of february, THERE ARE MANY, and we're at the second place.

and we're the first in the growth category, that is the number of the new fics divided by the staring number. so, when it comes to proportions, we've grown the most, much more than the other fandoms: one piece and pokemon are next, but it's 25% vs 15%.

remember I'm only counting the fandoms from my chart, that is the ones that had 40000 fics on feb 21. that means there are fandoms that have had a 100% growth - for example from 10 to 20 fics; or that there are fandoms that didn't hit the 40000 line back in february (like jjk), but do now and their growth is also noticeable.

on February 21 we were the 9th biggest anime & manga fandom on ao3. now we're 5th.
