Not too thrilled that my other post is getting so many notes when I'm not satisfied with it for a multitude of reasons. Let's have a do-over, hopefully much more succinct and to the original point.
When Palestinians, actually basically all Arabs, or all Muslims, say "Jerusalem is holy to us it is the 3rd holiest city in our religion." The White Western Leftist (WWL) will say "That's so valid your religion is so interesting and beautiful Hamas did nothing wrong I love the Houthis!"
But if a Jew ever rebuts "Jerusalem is holy to us as well, it's our holiest city, basically the only one we have," the WWL will probably roll their eyes, scoff, probably say something like "Okay but like why are you still using your outdated Zionist death cult to justify colonialism? You really think the Bible justifies killing millions of Palestinians?" and start going on and on about how Judaism invented everything bad about Christianity.
My hypothesis: These people are not allies to Muslims (Palestinians). They are condescending to them. They are throwing them a bone because they feel bad about how the Muslim world has been treated, well ever since Sykes-Picot, but especially post 9/11, the Patriot Act, The War on Terror, Iraq, Afghanistan, the Drone War, Libya, Nato, The Arab Spring, the list goes on. They don't think Muslims are capable of building the kind of societies they want, not without their gracious help. They don't think Muslims should have the same ideals of democracy and human rights, because they don't expect that from the Brown People. They won't ever hold them to such a standard because "Ugh where do we get off lecturing them?" even though they would never think this of Jews.
These people are not equals to Jews, something something Sartre they think they are both superior and inferior (which makes them superior). They are not just trying to hold their fellow citizens of the world to account. They are trying to put Jews in their place. They are projecting their religious trauma onto Jews because they do not understand Judaism. They see Judaism as Power. They are trying to delegitimize Judaism as a religion (and it is a religion, including the parts of religions that give atheists the "ick," including a lot of mysticism). They are trying to caterwaul about Jews being responsible for the world's ills and that they expect Jewish People to be better than this. To evolve beyond religion and community and affiliation and identity. They want Jewish to be nothing more than a box ticked off on a census. A neat little factoid about yourself, like how your neighbor Cheryl has Norwegian ancestry.
My only conclusion is that these people find Jews and Judaism repulsive, and they find Muslims and Islam primitive. Unlike their parents' generation, they appreciate the primitive. It is noble savagery to them. Unlike their parents' generation, the comparatively cosmopolitan modern secular Western sheen of Jewry (applied to Jews against their will) is not something that we almost lost from the world, but an annoying holdover of what we almost successfully purged from the world.
Because remember, while they hate their parents and everything they stand for, they still deep down want Daddy's approval. So it makes perfect sense why the psyche would displace anger and trauma and all that caused by Christianity, and look elsewhere to place blame. It falls at the feet of Jews and Judaism. Because my culture could never, there has to be a missing puzzle piece that could explain- oh there it is. The Jews did it. And wow look how easily this can slot in with every other antisemitism conspiracy theory.
The audacity to think I could make a shorter version of that post 😂 But basically it's this: The WWL, the Zoomer Left, the Tankies, whatever name you call them... they think that they can "save" Muslims by offering up Jews, and the terrorist fascist fundamentalists like Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, they're on board. They're all in. Normal ass every day Muslims/Palestinians? They just want peace, they just want rights, they just want sovereignty. The WWL is not interested in that perspective.
They have not once in their lives thought of what they could possibly do in terms of reparations. No no, tweeting and marching for a weekend are quite enough. They have not once in their lives turned inward and self reflected on the ways they benefit from and their own role in these systems of supremacy, that have harmed Muslims around the world. Jewish blood is more than enough to pay for operation Iraqi Freedom. Jewish lives are a fetching price to assuage the Westerner's guilt. You know since they have so much trouble turning inward and reflecting on their own contribution to Islamophobia, it might do them good to practice a little תשובה... but I don't know 😌

Hot take: the Wittebanes were not Puritans
So since Hollow Mind came out there have been a lot of jokes about how the Belos is a crusty old Puritan. And while he is certainly crusty and old, I don’t think he was a Puritan.
I understand why everyone jumps there, when we think of Witch Hunts in Colonial America the very first thing that comes to mind is the Salem Witchcraft Trials. However, the Salem Witchcraft Trials began in 1692, that is 80 years after Masha says the Wittebros showed up in Gravesfield, and 30 years after the events of Elsewhere and Elsewhen.
Tumblr media
If Masha’s information is correct, (which it might not be but we’ll get to that) then Caleb and Philip arrived in Gravesfield in 1613, which is closer in time to the settlement of Jamestown (1607) than the Salem Witchcraft Trials.
The Pilgrims didn’t even land at pride rock until 1620, seven years after the Wittebros arrived in Gravesfield. The Mayflower Pilgrims were really the group responsible for creating the idea of religious charters. They specifically wanted to leave England to create their own religious society. Many other groups followed, (notably the Massachusetts Bay Colony, which later became the home of the aforementioned Salem Witchcraft Trials) but the Mayflower Pilgrims were the first group of religious extremists who came to America looking for their Zion.
Prior to that, the motivation to settle the “New World” was mainly financial. Ships were chartered through the Virginia Company. Which as we all remember from our favorite wildly inaccurate and problematic 90s Disney movie, the Virginia Company was in it for the money. The New World had resources and Britian wanted them, damnit, Glory, God, and Gold and the Virginia Company.
That meant, if Caleb and Philip really did arrive in Gravesfield in 1613, their family likely made the trip for financial gain, not religion. If that’s the case they were less likely a member of an obscure group of religious extremists, and more likely to be either Protestant like King James and Queen Elizabeth. (They could have also been Roman Catholic, evidence for that comes later).
“But”, you say, “weren’t Puritans the ones persecuting witches at the time?”
Yes and no.
In the Americas, Witch Hunts will forever be linked to Puritans, but in Witch Hunting long outdates the Puritans. King James himself, was a witch hunting fanatic, he personally oversaw hundreds of witchtrials. He wrote books about finding witches, and it was specifically the King James endorse translation of the Bible that features the infamous “thou shalt not suffer a witch to live” (in many prior translations the word witch is something more along the line of “sinner” or “evil doer”). By many estimates, upwards of 1500 people were executed for witchcraft as a result of his reign. If we are going with Masha’s 1613 timeline, the brothers would have left England smack dab in the middle of his reign, right after the King James Bible was published.
Tumblr media
(^this GIF has nothing to do with the Owl House, I just love sassy Gay King James in his bird mask, look at this cocky ass bastard, you know him and Belos would have been genocide buddies)
However, I can’t pretend to be focused on some semblance of historical accuracy and take Masha’s information at face value, even in the context of the show it wouldn’t add up because according to the sign we see in Yesterday’s Lie, Gravesfield was established in 1635.
Tumblr media
(Granted there is a difference between a settlement and a town, it is possible that 1635 was when Gravesfield was officially acknowledged as a town and the boys just lived there pre-establishment).
However, in the name of historical accuracy, I have to assume Masha got the date wrong, because the English didn’t even settle in Conneticut until the 1630s. The Conneticut Witch Trials began in the 1640s. By this timeline and demographic, the likelihood of Caleb and Philip being Puritans goes up by a lot.
However, if we look at Philip’s clothes an his goals, there are still signs that don’t point to Puritanism. First look at the clothes Caleb and Philip wear as children:
Tumblr media
Philip’s pants are red and Calebs are green. While it is a myth that Puritans could only wear black, the colors that they were allowed to incorporate into their wardrobe were typically still neutrals (dark yellows and beiges). Green would be pushing it, and red would be unbelievably bold.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Additionally, the ruffles on Philip’s shirt in the journal and Jacob’s book, would have been seen as incredibly vain.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The blue/black coat that Caleb wore in the puppet show, and Philip later wears in Elsewhere and Elsewhen and King’s Tide has gold buttons and gold embroidery. Gold and Silver accessories of any kind would have been considered incredibly sinful and conceited.
Tumblr media
Which would also make it really weird for a Puritan to choose gold to represent himself. Infact his whole emperor authentic is much more reminiscent of the Catholic Pope. His own role as the messenger of the Titan’s will is also very papal in nature.
Finally there is the term he uses, “Witch Hunter General” is an illusion to “Witch Finder General” which was a rank made up and used by Protestant Matthew Hopkins and not really used by any Puritans. Such a title would also probably have seemed pretty vain.
Now you might say, “It’s a fictional story, why does any of this matter?”
The answer is: It does not, but I am high and have ADHD and this was the rabbit hole I fell down.

[authors note]: and that’s the end! hope you enjoyed this as much as i did writing it :)
Tumblr media
“Assume you’re used to riding shotgun”, The President asked as he handed you a black helmet.
You put it on and straddled yourself along the back of his bike. “Not usually in heels.”
Realisation of the betrayal you were committing was crushing you. Here you were, sat on another man’s bike, about to ride off into nowhere so he could do god knows what to you. The guilt weighed on your chest as you gripped The President's waist from behind. You reminded yourself the reason you were doing this, Protect The Club. Protect Jax.
“First time for everything, sweetheart.”
He kicked the bike alive, it roaring fiercely as he rode out of the parking lot.
The journey was short. He pulled into a motel lot two blocks up the road. It was a quiet and dingy motel, known for its drug hookups and escorts. The exact kind of place you used to work before you had agreed with Jax to run Diosa. Jax didn’t like sharing, you were his and that was vital to him. You’d agreed that you’d both be entirely faithful to one another there on out, and you knew after this, he’d never forgive you.
“Classy.” You muttered as you pulled the helmet off your head.
“Ain’t gonna matter where you are once I’m inside you, sweetheart.”
“Yeah, sure.”
He placed the bike on its kickstand, and you followed as he made his way across the car park, up a flight of stairs and to room numbered 208. The curtains were already closed on the outside. He grabbed a yellow key card out from his back pocket, unlocking the door.
You stalked your way inside the room, hearing the bolt echo behind you as he secured the latch on the door.
The room was a simple, one large crimson bed centered between wooden side tables, home to two outdated lamps and a dusty bible. The President wandered straight to the mattress, sitting along the edge. He placed the manilla envelope on the side table closest to him before he pulled his cutte off. He slapped the mattress, coaxing you to sit beside him. Across from the front door was a bathroom that you immediately streamlined for. “I’m just gonna freshen up.”
He laid back falling flat across the bed, “don’t leave me waitin’.”
You closed the door behind you, sighing of relief for the brief moment alone. You looked at yourself in the mirror above the sink. It was cracked slightly along the edge, distorting the image in front of you. You turned the tap, letting the water run. The sound of the streaming fossett was soothing, and you closed your eyes with your hands clutching the sink, trying to overcome the sickness you felt burning through your stomach. You wanted to vomit. You took your jacket off, thrusting it to the floor, trying to breathe as you struggled for air. You’d never had a panic attack before but you imagined this is what it felt like.
He’s got you right where he wanted, you told yourself. Alone in a motel and not a soul knows you’re here. You searched your jacket for your phone, before remembering you left it in the car at the diner. Calling for help was out of the equation. Your chest was tight, the sound of your heart thudding engulfing your ears as you tried to gasp for air.
You didn’t have a phone, but you did have the gun. You could go out there and shoot him, take the envelope and run for the hills. And potentially start a gang war by killing The President of another crew, one that’s associated with the Mexican cartels. Dumb idea.
Your last option, just give him what he wants, get the photos, and be done. You’d already made it this far. The guy was hardly the worst looking man on the planet. He was monstrous and crass but it would be a sacrifice of a moment compared to the loss of everything Jax knew.
You let the water run through your fingers before you turned it off. You pulled your hair to the side of your neck, the cold water on your hands dripping down your skin. You can do this, you tried to convince yourself. Protect The Club. Protect Jax. You were going to have to break his heart, to save his club.
You heard a knock on the door at the same time it abruptly opened, not giving you any chance to respond.
“I said don’t keep me waitin’, little lady.”
“Just had to pull myself together.”
He crept towards you, and you instinctively turned into him, your back pressing into the sink behind you.
“I can help you out.”
His hands found your hair, clutching at the root as he pulled your head back. Your hands were grasping the edges of the porcelain, as he brought himself against your body, pressing his lower half into you. You were unable to move. He held you there, watching your face, taking in the sight of you completely at his disposal.
Tears welled in your eyes, unable to be forced back this time, and they began to stream from your face. You realised at this moment that you couldn’t do it. You couldn’t force yourself to want this man. He placed a hand on your cheek, wiping away the drops with his thumb.
“You look so pretty when you cry.”
He pressed his face into yours, kissing you viciously. His tongue tangled against your lips as it searched for entry, but failed as you kept your mouth forced shut. He pulled your head back again by your hair, staring into your eyes. His eyebrows raised as he watched you sobbing, furious from your apprehension.
“I’m not gonna fuck a corpse. You better give me something back.”
His hand released from your hair as he brought them down to your waist, pulling you from the sink. You stumbled against him, trying to find your balance. You wanted more time, a chance to think or just pause this from happening, to try and find a way out.
You forced yourself to find his lips, kissing him back. You entwined your fingers through his hair, hoping you could sell the facade that you wanted him too. A smile formed at the corner of his mouth while yours did all the work.
He seemed to relax before you pulled away, “should we go to the bed?”
“Fuck the bed. I want you here.”
He dragged the hem of your dress to expose your underwear, pulling you tight to his body by your ass. You squirmed at the feel of his hands on you this way, but tried to play calm to control the situation.
Your heel tangled into your jacket beneath you, and you could feel your gun was right under your feet. You kissed him again while he palmed at your backside, dragging his fingers under the fabric of your panties. You lowered your hands down his frame, leading them to his jeans, rubbing against his erection. You crouched down to your knees, your eyes never leaving his.
He groaned aloud as he watched you undo his belt buckle, your face parallel with his dick. “I knew you wanted this, little slut.”
You ignored his degradation, and carried on feeling him with your hands. His head fell backwards, and just as his eyes left yours, you began to press your mouth against his cock, gnawing at the hard membrane covered in denim. Your mouth continued to distract him, as you searched the floor with your free hand, desperate to find the gun in your jacket pocket.
Just as your hand reached the metal piece, your fingers twisting along the handle, The President looked down at you.
“The fuck you think you’re doing?”
You pulled the piece from the jacket, aiming it up at his chest. “Back the fuck up. Now.”
He chuckled at your advance, looking at the gun point towards him as he slowly stepped backwards.
“Maybe you ain’t so smart.”
He backed through the doorway as you stood, continuing to aim the gun. He reached the bed, sitting upright on the edge, his jeans draped around his thighs. He smirked at you, looking directly down the barrel. “We had a deal, little lady.”
You gripped the gun tighter, “I’m not your fucking lady.”
A chuckle escaped his teeth, “You really do need my dick in that dirty mouth of yours.” You paced towards the side table, holding your aim on him as you walked. You kept your focus on his face as you reached for the envelope. “You got any idea what you're starting?”
You placed the envelope under your arm, grasping the gun with both hands again, edging yourself further from the bed, until you were backed against the far wall of the room.
“Nothing I’m not prepared to finish.”
He held his arms out wide, taunting you. “I got a long list of enemies who would do anything for the shot you got right now.”
“I don’t want to kill you, asshole.
I want to leave this room, and pretend I never met you. I want you to leave my Club the fuck alone. I want to go back to my life before you existed.”
He closed his arms, and stood up slowly, pulling up his jeans and clasping his belt buckle back together. “Then I guess you better kill me.”
You readjusted the gun in front of you, “sit back down!”
He ignored you, continuing to pace forward, step by step. “I can see why he picked you as his old lady. Got looks and balls.”
“I said I don’t want to kill you, asshole. Not that I won’t.”
He grinned, reaching for you, extending his arms out. “Don’t be like that, baby.”
He was inches from you again, his chest now pressed against the barrel. You pushed it into him further, “I fucking mean it. Back the fuck up!”
He didn’t waiver. “Drop the gun, sweetheart.”
You pulled the trigger.
The sound of the gun jamming rang through your ears, and you stared at him wide eyed. He slammed the gun from your hand, the metal flinging across the room. He grabbed your wrists, pinning them to the wall behind you, the envelope under your arms falling to the ground, images of The Club spreading across the carpet beneath your feet. He pushed you with force against the wall, crushing your wrists in his grasp.
He spoke low into your ear, “No more choices.”
You tried to retreat, but the weight from his body engulfed you, making it impossible for you to move. The stubble of his beard scraped against your skin as his mouth moved against your neck. You screamed for him to stop, but the pleas fell on deaf ears, seeming to entice him further. His body was entrapping you against the wall so harshly that his hands could move freely, creeping their way under your dress as he tore at the seams, ripping it open. You recalled how it felt to be trapped by this man that first night you met at Diosa, and you knew now that had the eyes of the entire lobby not been present, this would’ve been your fate then. You closed your eyes, giving up the fight.
Suddenly he stopped, interrupted by a repeated banging on the door.
“Y/n?”
“Jax! Jax! I’m in-”, his hand slapped against your mouth. You bit the skin as hard as you could, but he didn’t release. Instead he plowed your body into the ground, laying over you as you crumbled to the floor, crushing you into the gap between the wall and bed.
He stared into your eyes as he held your mouth shut, whispering to you through his clenched teeth.
“Shut the fuck up or I’ll kill you with my bare hands.”
Tears streamed as your muffled screams paused. You clutched his hand against your mouth, trying to pry it from your face. You could only listen as Jax repeatedly thrust his entire weight against the wood of the door, the metal latch bulking under the pressure. The bolt gave in, and the door flew open.
“Jesus-” Jax was armed and reeling as he looked around the room. Your jacket, the gun and the images strung out across the motel room.
Your mouth was released from his grip as he pulled you by your hair. You winced at the pain, trying to find your footing as you stood up. He held you there like a prize, showing off your exposed and broken frame, tears pouring down your face. Jax’s core was stiff, glaring at The President with a look you hadn’t ever seen from him before.
His jaw flexed as he put his gun back into his cutte, speaking slowly through his gritted teeth.
“Get your hands off her.”
Your blackmailer smiled, his hands twisting further into your hair. “We were only just getting started.” His hands never left you, taunting Jax further. He looked at you up and down, licking his lips before turning back to Jax. “You got a good one here, Pres.”
“You got one more chance. Then I’m done talking.”
He pulled your hair back further, and you swayed as your balance was rocked.
“Oh, relax. Only wanted to try out the slut for myself.”
That was it, Jax lunged for him. Any restriction of his fury was completely unleashed, as he stormed across the room, grabbing The President by the head, slamming it against the wall. You were finally released from his grasp, and threw yourself across the bed, rolling onto the other side of the room.
You watched as they fought against the motel floor, Jax on top of him, repeatedly smashing his head into the carpet with all his strength. The bangs against the upstairs floor rocked the supports beneath it, thudding as Jax gasped from the repeated exertion. The President heaved his elbow into Jax’s stomach, and he fell backwards sitting upright, his back slamming against the side table. The table lamp crashed to the floor as Jax launched himself back into the President, crumbling him again. Jax was on top of the President, pounding his fists into his face repeatedly. He smiled at Jax, showing his bloody teeth as he took the beating.
But he didn’t let up, he continued to crush into him, his elbow dropping against his flesh, further forcing his face further into the carpet. Jax’s fists rammed into his face, for what felt like eternity, as blood poured from The President’s nose and mouth.
The President reached beneath him, grabbing a knife from the sheath that hung from his jeans. He sliced into Jax’s leg, and he screamed out in agony, making you flinch. Jax dropped his knee onto The President’s hand, crushing the knife out of his grasp.
His leg was bleeding through his jeans, but he didn’t stop. You watched as he endlessly beat the President into nothing, pure rage fueling his hands forward. Blood sprayed from the open wounds of his face onto the wall beside the bed frame, covering the floor and Jax too. Only once The President stopped moving, the groans from his mouth silencing, did Jax stop.
He was on top of him when he glanced at you, hiding in the corner of the room, your dress tore to shreds and tears streaming down your face.
He crawled off of The President’s lifeless body, crouching towards you. He wrapped you in his arms, and the relief of feeling Jax holding you again turned your tears into sobs.
“You okay?”
“I’m so- sorry-”
“Shhh. Darlin’ you got nothing to be sorry for.”
He cupped your face in his bloody hands, his rings glistening red from the liquid. His eyes matched yours, water pooling at the lids.
“Did he hurt you?”
You shook your head. “A few minutes later and he-”, you couldn’t continue as the sobs poured from your chest. He didn’t need you to say anymore. He hugged you tight against him as he stroked your hair, soothing your wimpers into submission. You looked up at him as he wiped the tears from your face.
“I had no choice- he was going to rat- he had proof-”
“I know, darlin’. Nero told me everything.”
“He did? But how did you find me?”
“Your car was still at the diner but you weren’t there. I didn’t know what to think-” he flinched at the memory. “I just kept riding, then I saw the bike parked outside the motel. I was checking rooms and then I heard you scream-” You kissed him before he could continue. His hands stroked the back of your head, “I’m here now, darlin. It’s okay.”
“He’s the President of another club.” You wanted to look at the carnage but you couldn’t bring yourself away from Jax’s face.
He took a deep breath, looking up from you to the body laying in a pool of blood across the motel floor. His body tensed as anger filled him again, his tongue pressing against the bottom of his mouth as it straightened into a hard line. “He’s nothing now.”
You sat up from Jax’s arms, watching him as he stared at The President, his eyes shifting from care and sorrow and  morphing into pure rage once again. “They’re all done. Nobody is ever gonna hurt you again. You’re mine and anyone who touches you- they’re as dead as that guy and everyone that’s ever associated with him.”
He shifted onto his knee as he stood up, taking off his cutte. He removed the black SAMCRO t-shirt he had on and handed it to you, before putting his hoodie and cutte back on himself again. You placed the t-shirt over your ripped dress, and stood up alongside him. Jax walked over towards The President’s body, collecting the printed photographs that surrounded him on the floor. He flicked through the pictures, scoffing at the evidence.
“This prick’s been trailing us for weeks. These are from a run two months ago.” He carried the stack into the bathroom as he examined the images, before igniting the corners with his lighter, leaving them to burn in the sink. He watched as the flames turned the paper into ash. “Are there more of these?”
You shrugged your shoulders, “he said this was all he had.”
Jax picked your jacket off the bathroom floor. He walked back to you, draping it over your shoulders. “Doesn’t even matter. His crew is good as dust.”
You kneeled to the ground, reaching under the bed for the jammed gun. Jax looked at the weapon in your hands, “Did you try to use it?”
You handed the metal piece to him, “piece of shit jammed.”
He hugged you again, wrapping his arms around you. “That’s my girl. Least I got to pummel the cunt to death myself.” He placed the gun into his holder. “Let’s get you home.” Jax held your waist as you both headed for the door.
“Jax?”
He looked down at you, “you okay darlin’?”
Your eyes peered back at the bloodied mess that had unfolded on the motel room floor.
“Maybe we should call that cleanup guy you know.”
Jax smiled, kissing you reassuringly on the side of your head as you walked together. “I’m on it.”

Sephiroth: “The specimen, found in strata dating back two thousand years, smiled with what could only be described as... 'ethereal gr—‘“
Cloud: Wait, hold up…
Cloud: This record is REALLY old.
Sephiroth: How… how did you even get—
Zack: Damn! You’re right, Spike. Pretty sure they were still riding in Chocobo carriages back then. You have any idea how much could have changed since these were written?
Cloud: Like… lots.
Zack: That’s what I’m saying!
Sephiroth: Would you two shut u—
Zack: I think we should try to find a more recent record.
Cloud: Agreed:
*he proceeds to pluck the book out of Sephiroth’s hands*
Cloud: Here, Zack! Go long!
*Zack rushes across the library as his friend chucks the book, catching it in one swift motion and reshelving it*
Zack: Alright! Let’s put this dinosaur back and see what was written in this decade
Sephiroth: …Can I kill them now, Mother?
*Zack scans the books*
Zack: Hmm…. Hmmm…. All these books are pretty old. Come help a guy out, Spike.
Cloud: Sure thing.
*the two continue scanning the books, thumbing through spines and covers*
Cloud: Isn’t there ANYTHING that’s more updated?
Zack: Right??? We’ll prolly find the Bible in here at this rate
Sephiroth: Yes, Mother. I shall kill them now.
*the man stands up, almost robotically, the metallic echo of steel ringing through the air as he summons Masamune and begins approaching the duo*
Zack: Gahhh! There’s SO many books here. Gotta start making room.
*Sephiroth raises Masamune to their necks*
Cloud: Agreed.
Zack: Aight! Start chucking them!
Sephiroth: Goodbye, useless whel—
*and a book hits him square in the head, sending the warrior stumbling backwards as he drops his sword amid the confusion*
Zack: See anything???
Cloud: Not yet!
*Sephiroth, dizzy on the floor, peels his face off the carpet as his lips pull back into a snarl*
Sephiroth: How DARE you—
*another books knocks him out cold*
Cloud: Alright, Zack, I don’t think we’re finding anything in recent times here.
Zack: Yeah, you’re prolly right. Let’s try another shelf.
*and the duo turn around, spotting the unconscious Sephiroth lying crumpled on the floor*
Cloud: …
Zack: …
Zack *looks at Cloud*
Cloud: *looks at Zack*
Zack: Aight. I’ll get the legs.
Cloud: I’ll get the arms
*and they drag him back to the Nibelheim inn, safe and sound from the unmitigated cruelty of outdated knowledge*

How do you reconcile the mainstream Christian ideals of not worshipping any other god than YHWH/trinity with Hellenic paganism?
Hi sunshine! ☀️
I see this topic debated a lot and answers vary. I think one factor that makes this reconciliation easier for me is that I was raised in an athiest/agnostic household. I was then purely Hellenic pagan for a few years so I have a slightly different – some would say heretical – view of Christian/Catholic practices. For context, I am now Christopagan. I worship Hellenic (Greek) pagan deities and Jesus, and I work with some of the saints.
To my knowledge, the verses that touch on this subject are Exodus 20:3, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me", and Exodus 22:20, "He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed".
Now personally, I don't believe that the Bible is the word of God. I believe that the Bible is the word of man inspired by God. It is similar to how we understand the Greek myths as being written by human beings, portraying how they and society of the time interpreted the gods.
However, while man may be divinely inspired, we are also flawed. It is no secret that the church constantly seeks power, and the Bible was written during a time when paganism was the church's biggest competitor. While it was compiled roughly 200-400 years before the official outlawing of paganism, this was still a time when the church would have sought to diminish the number of pagan followers. Lines like those from Exodus were, I think, written with the agenda of turning people away from pagan faiths.
A way for the church to dominate pagan religions was to demonise the practices and to instill fear in the people, which we continue to see today. I have no problem with the Bible and I would never disrespect it, but I believe we must consider its historical context and recognise that it is, in part, religious propaganda. That's the stance I take, at least.
There are parts of the Bible I take more to heart than others. Lines that sound more like propaganda than something to bring you closer to God and to Jesus, I acknowledge as a part of history and something to be left in the past. The Greek myths are also not perfect and depict many values that are outdated and strange to us today, but again, those are aspects to be understood historically and interpreted accordingly.
This is just what I believe though and how I personally view things. Debate is welcomed, as long as it is respectful. Thank you so much for asking, sunshine!

It says in your little thing that your Mormon, are you still Mormon cuz respectfully I've heard a lot of shit about Mormons and how they are very transphobic and homophobic! So not trying to be rude just genuinely wondering if I read that wrong or something.
Hey! Yeah, I am a mormon, but I love all my queer siblings, including/especially my trans people. But it's a complicated religion and I have a complicated relationship with it, so I understand the confusion.
The short answer is that I was raised mormon, continue to find a lot of comfort and truth in SOME of their teachings, and I am perpetually very pissed with a lot of their other teachings, cuz yeah, a lot of them are Not Good. So I'm mormon and mad about it. It's kind of like. . .imagine if you were raised Catholic and only really have good memories of your Catholic community and find a lot of comfort in teachings about God's love, but you absolutely despise the administration of the Catholic church and like, everything they say about queer people. It's like that.
The long answer is this:
A) The mormons get a bad rap on the internet for stuff that isn't actually true. If you ever have a specific question, I am happy to answer to the best of my abilities.
B) Having said that, a lot of the teachings of the mormon church regarding queer people are really really bad and I do not support or encourage this even slightly. I myself am queer, and I have to put up with hearing all kinds of queerphobic shit from the church all the time. And I hate it and I speak against it whenever it is safe for me to do so. It just. All of it goes soooo against the other teachings of the church. I am not the only queer member. There is an entire community of us on tumblr over here. We all work and suffer through it together.
C) I still believe in the stuff that's at the fundamentals of the gospel though. Namely, God exists and he loves all of us unconditionally. He sent us to Earth so that we could learn and grow and become happier through our experiences here. Free agency/the ability to make independent choices is very VERY important to him. He sent Jesus Christ to suffer for our sins so that when we do fuck it up, we don't have to live with that guilt forever. Jesus also suffered for our pain and sorrow so that we didn't have to and can bring us healing. We're supposed to love our neighbors with our whole hearts.
I also believe that Joseph Smith did translate the Book of Mormon, although he was still a human being who made mistakes and I don't believe in a LOT of the stuff he said and did. I doubt you've read the Book of Mormon, but it's really just The Bible Extended Edition. There's a reason it's full name is The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It covers what the hell was going on in the Americas during the biblical times.
I also believe that God has chosen prophets for our modern day to continue giving us revelation. I also believe those prophets are mostly crusty old men with outdated personal opinions that they mistake for revelation, that they fuck it up a lot, and I wish a lot of them would hurry up and die so I no longer have to listen to their bullshit.
D) Religion and faith are personal. I'm not here to convert anyone, especially other queer people. I continue practicing my religion because I have had literal years and some really amazing people to help me sort out what is good and bad and to figure out what parts of it are best for me as a person. I understand that what's best for some people is literally none of it, and I also understand that while some people could benefit from just doing what I do, that the way the church treats queer people (and also women sometimes) does more harm than the good parts help. So while I talk about my religion sometimes, it's always more about my personal relationship with it and never to try to convert people. I fully support ex-mormons who left the church, because sometimes the environment can be truly toxic and the religious trauma they have experienced is real.
E) The culture of the church and the actual doctrinal teachings of the church are two very different things. Utah mormon culture is also different than regular mormon culture. All of these things have good aspects to them, but church culture and Utah mormon culture also have a lot of really harmful things too, and these don't even have anything to do with the crusty old men being homophobic/transphobic. I am also mad about this, and I also complain about this fairly frequently.
I'm glad you asked because I understand that this stuff can be confusing. I think it's impossible to be any kind of religious queer person and not have a really complicated and deeply personal relationship with your religion.
I hope that answered your question, and I completely understand if this makes my blog feel like an unsafe space for you and you feel like you need to unfollow me. I do, however, tag every church related post I make, both with a religion cw and the tumblr mormon tag. Do what's best for you, and much love.
Also, unrelated, but I really appreciate all the posts you make and every time I see a little notification from you on one of my posts, it makes me so very happy.

I thought you were joking when you said that the Farrar's books were outdated but holy shittt, even for 1970s wicca/witchcraft those guys were like full gender heterosexual white magic ye harm none thing, I was also seeing their interview were christian kids interview them, and boy it is hard to watch, but on to my question kskk, do you know if they changed later down?,like Janet seems to be okay sometimes,I can't find anything of them on their "controversial views" except their later polyamorous relationship (wich come to think of it I would love to hear their gender rationale on that), and also, how do you personally (if you do so) reconcile this type of author?, like there is no doubt that they are important in craft history, but now they kinda do more harm than good.
Hi Anon! I'm sorry if you've been waiting for a bit, you know how Tumblr is.
So one thing it's important to remember is: back in the 1970s and 80s a religion where women run the show was very progressive. Feminism got bolted onto Wicca pretty quickly once it hit the American West Coast and Starhawk wrote The Spiral Dance. Things like worshipping a goddess who didn't need a man around to tell her what to do were really unusual for the time. All this hippie-dippy shit like being naked in your rituals and such was far out, man, not like those totally square and boring Christians.
The problem is that, like many older people who were once cool and progressive, they just kind of stopped where they were in the 70s and 80s and didn't really......well, progress past that point. This leads to things like statements like that one in A Witches' Bible where they think that actually gay people are perfectly OK in ritual (this was a bit of a controversial point at the time) as long as they act like their biological gender, which is hilarious to us in 2024 because they obviously conflate being gay with being trans in some bizarre fashion. This was progressive for the time. It comes across as incredibly ignorant today. And of course, if their ideas did change, well, the book is already out there, people are reading it, and you can't go back in time and change something that's already been published. You can add notes or amendments to further editions, but I don't believe they ever did that, and Stewart Farrar died in the early aughts.
I find the polyamory thing to be pretty cringe, NGL, because I am a judgmental and suspicious piece of shit and think that an awful lot of the time polyamory is a tool used to make younger women sexually available to older men - good Lord, the age difference between Stewart and Janet - and that's very distasteful.
In my opinion the Farrars are probably the stodgiest and most conservatively-written books you'll find from that time period, and they're a good example of what coven-based Alexandrian Wicca looked like at that time, but there were a lot of more relaxed writers out there at the time and LOTS more a few years later. My primary complaint with A Witches' Bible is rather specifically that asinine Oak King / Holly King thing which they made up entirely and then ineptly shoehorned into the Wheel of the Year, where it just doesn't fucking work, and then everyone else just kind of went with it. No! It sucks and is bad, don't do it!
Do I think they do more harm than good? No, I don't. I think that anyone fairly new to Wicca shouldn't read this book first thing out the gate because it sets a lot of very unrealistic expectations, and because it's pretty old - Eight Sabbats for Witches was published in 1981, which makes it a few years older than me, and The Witches' Way in 1984, which makes it a year younger than me, and TBH there's much newer and fresher material being published every year. I would much sooner recommend someone like Thorn Mooney to new person interested in traditional Wicca.

Hello! I wanted to ask if you believe the 'outdated' Adventurer's Bible (ie the one already officially in English) is still worth the buy, or if the updated version is superior enough to wait for the official translation?
My birthday is at the end of August so I thought it'd be nice to ask for the Adventure's Bible as a present from my friends/family, but I'm wondering if I should just wait until the updated version is out and buy it with my own money. Any thoughts? Thanks ^^
Oh... I'm not sure actually! The one that's already out has a lot of cool things and information, but the new one has all the monsters and several post canon extras...
I'd say the major difference between them is the post canon information and updated character's profiles, the world section in the older version is still pretty cool with the info about races and all that.
I couldn't wait and bought the new one in japanese instead of looking for the older version in english LOL

I don’t get it, you don’t want white women to convert to islam because they will be oppressed and subservient to men but you are completely ok with them being christian-adjacent where they will also be oppressed and subservient to men… i mean, just say you hate brown people having game with white women, it’s a lot less confusing that way lmao
It's not the norm for Christian girls to be married at 12 to men over 50 and my religion doesn't have the ultra outdated, depraved, sharia law.
The Bible tells men to love their wives as Christ loved the church. Women came from Adam's rib, to be by his side; not above nor below. A true Christian marriage is one of love and respect. Normally, Christian husbands allow their wives to go out alone and don't treat them like a dog with a leash. They are loyal to one woman, not 12.
White women going for Islamic men is the same thing as buying a rope and putting it around the neck.

(ttsbc? I always forget the acronym and I've been here since the beginning of the tumblr lmao)
i read the description AND the tags. AND the febuwhump prompt. I KNEW it wouldn't get revealed in a one chapter fic. I KNEW you've heavily implied before none of the humans so far would act like that based on a ask I saw you respond to.
And somehow you still got me with that treebark beginning 😅 Your writing is so in depth and you're so good at handling relationships and WORLDBUILDING???? you've GOT to have some sort of world bible. AND YOU POST SO FREQUENTLY??? 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I’m glad I still gotcha in the first half there 😆 Despite the tags, despite it all, I still dragged you into the whump! Thank you so so so much for all your kind words, I’m so glad you enjoy TTSBC!
…world bible? I’ve got…lemme see like twenty pages at the start of the word doc that’re full of random jotted down ideas…a very bad and outdated timeline…and a notes file in my phone where I dictate all the ideas I have for stories while I’m driving because I ALWAYS HAVE IDEAS WHEN I’M DRIVING. WHY!? I DUNNO.
I’ve said before that writing and working on these AUs is my way of relaxing. ☺️ When I need to unwind/take a break/disconnect for a bit, I open one of the word files and start typing away, and without fail it makes me feel better each and every time! So of course I end up working on the AUs a lot! And since everyone seems to be enjoying them so much, I don’t have any plans on stopping!
Thanks for coming by! 💖

IMPORTANT NOTICE: This post is now considered outdated due to recent developments in my Stardew Valley AU. Please refer to more recent character posts for information.
Quincy Headcanons
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(This is my partially self-insert farmer oc! I'm less worried about being cringe than I used to be so this guy is pretty self indulgent, hehehe.)
30 Years Old
Non-Binary (He/They/It/Xe)
Pansexual
Full name is Quincy Woodrow.
Sometimes goes by "Quill." His full name will occasionally be shortened to "Quill Wood." (Sounds familiar...)
Needs glasses partially because they messed up their vision by staring at screens in the dark while researching supernatural phenomena.
Was ecstatic when they found out they inherited their Grandpa's farm in the valley because that area is known to be a hub for supernatural activity. Moving there gave Quincy the perfect opportunity for their research. (You can really tell this guy is inspired by Ford from Gravity Falls...)
Renamed their grandpa's farm to "Cryptic Farm" mostly so that they could label their produce stuff like "cryptic eggs" or "cryptic jelly" just because they think it's funny.
Created many of the modern names for mines and cavern monsters. He is particularly known for his studies of goliath spiders, attempts at rehabilitating cursed skeletons, and investigations of ghosts.
Has a pet cat-sized spider named Raphael and a living skeleton assistant named Michael. He also has a horse named Gabriel. (Yeah, I'm obsessed with the monster pets mod. It just fits too well!)
All of his farm animals are named after medicinal herbs mentioned in the Bible/Book of Yoba. (He isn't religious, he just thinks that angels and old herbal medicine are cool.)
Really upset with how young he looks because people take his research less seriously.
Is actually quite a bit stronger than he looks because he handles monsters and does farmwork, he's just naturally built a bit thin.
Much more scared of normal bugs than the giant mine bugs because he can't see them as well.
Is willing to do dubious things to get answers to his mysteries.
Would've adopted Krobus, but Quincy can't stand the inside of house being hot and humid. The two are still great friends, though.
Trying to find whoever M. Jasper is so that he can talk about aliens and dwarves with them.
Super interested in Mr. Qi because of his connection to the valley's supernatural activity and his strange biology. (He might also have a little bit of a crush just because Mr. Qi is one of the only sapient monsters that he hasn't been able to figure out, which he finds really attractive for some reason.)
At some point in his storyline his heart just stops beating but he's magically still fully alive and functional which leads to a lot of angst as he tries to figure out if he's actually dead or alive. (He develops some light streaks in his hair during this arc because I think it looks cool and if any of you mention Wilbur Soot I will boil you alive.)

Changérion Bible - Toshiki Inoue interview
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Translation by Windii, scans by me
-SPOILER ALERT FOR THE ENTIRE SHOW-
Scriptwriter: Inoue Toshiki
Inoue Toshiki, a scriptwriter who wrote all but two of the 39 episodes by himself, convinced everyone who knew of the work that Changéríon was of the Inoue World. How did he create this unique series that is unparalleled in the history of television?
―Was the birth of Changérion a request of the times?!
"I think the first time I met Shirakura was on location in Nagano for "Jetman". At that time, I only had the impression that we were just smiling and drinking whiskey together, and I had no idea that we would become such close friends (laughs). Later, there was the movie version of "Hakaider", but at that time, we were still finding out each other's real intentions and didn't trust each other. It was only with "Changéríon" that we came to a kind of mutual understanding."
―How did you come to work on the plot for "Changéríon"?
"At first, the idea was to do "Hakaider" for TV. So I was supposed to do the plot from the beginning. Then we decided to do something original instead of "Hakaider," and Shirakura and I came up with the idea of doing something like "Detective Tale'"."
―In your interview with "Uchusen," you mentioned that you had a project in which the main character was a fugitive.
"Yes, there was also an idea that it would be like "The Fugitive," a foreign drama. But both ideas disappeared during the course of our discussions, and we decided to make the main character a cram school teacher. But when I tried to make it into a script, it was boring, so I forced it back to a detective, and it got a lot of traction. We decided from the beginning to make it a comedy. Both Shirakura and I felt that the traditional handsome hero with a frown on his face, carrying his troubles on his back, was outdated and uncool. It was the demand of the times, or rather, something inevitable."
―Another characteristic of Changéríon is that it doesn't present any particular theme.
"It is annoying when a work is preachy or pushes a theme to the forefront. It is not good to start with a theme. It's the creator's complacency. It's just enough to look at the whole picture and see what's there and what's emerging. Writers have a bad habit of wanting to make a theme look like a work of art, but that's a big mistake. Everyone knows that love and friendship are wonderful, and viewers don't want to see that anymore."
―There is more slapstick than comedy in Changéríon, isn't there?
"To tell you the truth, when I wrote episodes 3 and 4, I knew that this is what Changérion was all about, and I wasn't sure about it at the time of episodes 1 and 2 (laughs). But after episodes 3 and 4, the staff was on board, and we decided to go with this route, and things just escalated. Slapstick works in animation, but I experimented to see how far I could take it in live action. It went surprisingly well. Director Konaka did a great job. For my part, I was surprised that Mr. Nagaishi found it interesting. I've known Mr. Nagaishi since "Supernova Flashman", and he was the first person to reject my scripts (laughs). I thought he was good at love, flowers, and other stinky stuff, and wasn't interested in comedy or slapstick, but that wasn't so at all. I thought he was a great guy."
―You have listed your challenging works, favorite works, and worst works in the "Changéríon Memorial" on Toei's website. Could you tell us about them in detail?
"The first one I had a hard time with was episode 10. I needed a lot of ideas, and slapstick is difficult to structure. And episode 14. I was kind of tired at the time (laughs). I wasn't a writer who worked that much at the time. I only wrote up to six episodes in a row for Jetman, and I heard that Mr. Suzuki (producer Takeyuki) told Shirakura that I was limited to a maximum of six episodes (laughs)."
―The inspired works are most interesting!
"My favorite works are episodes 10, 12, and 25. That's because they are interesting (laughs). Before I write a script, I write a structure chart, and in my case, I make it very carefully, as if the script is ready when the chart is finished (laughs). I think that's where episode 10 came from. When you make a chart and throw away the excess, you get inspired. The inspired works are most interesting. In episode 25, the exchange between the two disguised as old men in the last scene is great. I think it was inspired by something else… I wonder what it was."
―Which works left you dissatisfied?
"Episode 14 is well done, but in Changérion's world, it's trite. It's a story that could have been written by anyone but me, and I don't like that. For episode 13, I like the title, but it was a bit tawdry. Episode 11 had a diluted plot. The lack of length in the script made the pacing a little sluggish. They tacked on the lines after the fact, the stuff about Kuroiwa's profundity. It's like it came about by accident. I wrote Kuroiwa as a guy who is obsessed with things, but I didn't expect him to become such a man of extensive knowledge. Mr. Nagaishi was suspicious of the direction and added classical music, which was well received. I think the music was very important. The person who chose that music was great."
―Looking back on each of the characters, do you have any thoughts?
"Akira is representative of what everyone cares about. Like, you wish you could live like that. It's a man's dream, like James Bond in that sense. You don't want to be Kamen Rider #1, but you want to be Akira, right? (laughs)"
―Akemi and Rui were cast in contrasting ways, weren't they?
"I wasn't involved in the casting. Shirakura and I don't seem to have the same tastes, so he wouldn't invite me (laughs). Akemi is definitely better as a secretary. Akemi has her stuff together and can put the brakes on Akira. Rui is the type of person who is weird and presses the gas pedal together with Akemi, so the scheme is wrong, but when Akemi is gone and we need a new secretary, there's no point in having the same type of person. It was a desperate measure to create a more impactful character that would eclipse Akira."
―The verbal tics at the end of their lines are also memorable.
"I don't think that went over very well (laughs), but Akemi is a firm person, so it's not cute when a girl like that talks the way she does (laughs). I think it's just right for her to add "maybe" and make it sound lighthearted. For Rui's style of speech, she's the ultimate posh lady, so she's repressed and wants to be someone she's not. She has a bit of a split personality thing. As for Hayami, Aizawa's acting got better and better from the middle of the show, and it was great to see how serious Hayami became. Ichiyama, who played Munakata, was also interesting, but I didn't change Munakata's character to suit him. I was going to make him a strange old man from the beginning. Come to think of it, there is not a single decent guy in this show (laughs)."
―As for creating the character of Kuroiwa?
"I had a lot of trouble making that one, because he was going compete with Akira, so I was thinking about a guy who would set up a consulting office at DarkZide, who would have an office in the apartment across the street, and who would be enthusiastic about stuff, and that's how I ended up with that one. Ogawa was good at it, too. When he first appeared, he had a strong impact, but it was difficult to decide what to do with him after that, so I made him the governor of Tokyo. It's interesting, isn't it (laughs)? Kuroiwa was crazy about Eri until the end. He said he was going to conquer humans, but he really wanted to be a human. Sayoko is a character that was really created at the last minute because of the deadline. Shirakura told me that if I didn't write by tomorrow, we wouldn't be able to shoot."
―Not only Kuroiwa and Sayoko, but many of the DarkZide is very obsessive.
"They are all enthusiasts. You could call them single-minded or pure."
Which is reality in the last episode?
―What made you decide to make the last episode the way it was?
"It is often said that the "it was all a dream"-ending is a forbidden technique, but I have always wondered if it is really so. I thought it would be crazy if I did it for the whole series, but if I did it for one episode, it would be a mere "it was all a dream"-ending. I told Shirakura about it, and he was stupid enough to think that was the way to go (laughs)."
―It's often discussed which is more real, the world of the story you've been telling or the serious world.
"Well, that would be less interesting if the dream wasn't more beautiful. It is better that Akira in reality admires Akira in the dream."
―The world DarkZide is trying to destroy is the real one?!
"Of course it is. In the structure, the point where the story ends is reality. It means it was all a dream. That's why Changéríon is ephemeral."
―Looking back on the work that is Changéríon now, what do you think?
"Everyone was in a groove. It was strange that we were all going in one direction and no one was there to stop us (laughs). It is rare to see such a united group going in a different direction from what was expected, isn't it? The greatest asset for me was that I was able to meet the staff. I knew Shirakura and Nagaishi from before, but getting to know Kimura (YOMIKO Advertising) and Iwata (TV Tokyo) was a big deal."
―When looking at Changéríon, it feels like individual ideas and inspirations were highly respected, rather than a parliamentary system.
"Programs are more interesting when they are made that way. If one person says no, the initial fun will fade away. I think that not only dramas but also TV programs as a whole should be allowed to run amok. I think it's boring because everyone is satisfied with making a mediocre product."
―How was Changéríon able to run amok?
"Because my episodes were funny (laughs). No, seriously. Everyone was fooled. Iwata from TV Tokyo said he was fooled by me at the wrap party. But the deceiver wins."
(Here comes Kochihira Chika.)
Kochihira: I have known Mr. Inoue for 10 years.
Inoue: She was in the same office as Wakamatsu Toshihide, who played Gai in Jetman, and we have known each other since then. I have known Kochihira since she was 19 years old.
Kochihira: But Changéríon was a regular audition and I passed. I knew that it was your work, though.
Inoue: So when I heard about that after it was decided, I was surprised, too.
―What do you think of Kochihira from your point of view?
Inoue: Well, she has an attractive face and figure, and has been admired by everyone since she was a child…
Kochihira: You really think so? (laughs)
Inoue: It got interesting when your, or rather Eri's, feisty side came out in episode 3 (laughs).
Kochihira: After that, Eri got cuter and cuter, and in the end, she even became Elisa (laughs).
Inoue: It was fun, wasn't it?
And so the fun night continued. Unfortunately, we'll end it here for the sake of this issue of the magazine.
Inoue Toshiki: Born November 28, 1959 in Saitama. Made his debut in 1981 with Dr. Slump Arale. Since then, he has been active in both live-action and animation. His latest work, Masked Rider Ryuuki EPISODE FINAL, will be released on August 17.
Works: Supernova Flashman (86-87), Birdman Squad Jetman (91-92), Mechanical Violator Hakaider (95), Masked Rider Kuuga (00-01), Ironclad Machine Mikazuki (00-01), Masked Rider Agito (01-02), Masked Rider Ryuuki (02-on air)

Tabitha looks at her computer screen confused as she watches Jonah's stream, like she remembers the cartoon, but it's vague. Gabby stares back at Tabitha with a smile. "You must be Tabitha! Jonah's told me a lot about you! How are you? "Ah!" Tabitha jumps up and blinks, backing away. "I..I..um, hello." "Oh! I'm sorry if I startled you! I'm not here to harm you; I just wanted to say hi!" She smiles sweetly and tries to approach Tabitha, but is careful not to be too sudden. Tabitha slowly walks closer to her computer screen as she sees Jonah message her, saying it's alright. "Gabby is friendly and just wants to help you." "Jonah is right; I'm here to help you! You can talk to me about anything you want. I promise I won't judge you." She smiles at Tabitha, trying to make her feel comfortable. Tabitha feels like going crazy, but at the same time, she feels like she's meeting a long-lost friend as she gently puts her hand on the computer screen. Gabby reaches her paw out and touches Tabitha's hand on the computer screen. "You know, I'm a little different from the show. I'm not just a cartoon; I'm a real angel, just like in the Bible. Tabitha smiles gently. "I used to watch your show all the time; it was the only thing my grandparents would like me to watch when I visited them." That's nice to hear. I know I'm a little outdated now, but I'm glad that you liked it. It's so good to meet someone who remembers me. I'm sorry that you don't get to watch it anymore." She smiles softly and tilts her head. "If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?" "I'm twenty-four now..." Tabitha says softly as she slowly sits back in her desk chair. "Oh, you're grown up now. I bet you have a lot of responsibilities. It must be hard to have to deal with so many things by yourself. Is everything alright?" She seems concerned. Tabitha giggles and smiles. "Yeah, it's stressful, but I'm trying my best." "I know you're doing your best. It's just a tough time right now, but things will get better. You just have to believe in yourself and have faith. Have you tried praying to God? He always listens to those who need help. And I'm here for you too." Tabitha smiles weakly. "I do...sometimes..." She whispers. "It's okay if you don't pray all the time. God is always listening, even if you don't speak to Him. He understands that sometimes life can be difficult. "Can I ask you something?" "Yes?" Are you lonely?" She asks softly. "Umm, yeah," Tabitha says softly. "I can understand that. Being alone can be really tough. But you're not alone anymore. You have me, Jonah, and your family. You know, I'm here to be your friend. You can tell me anything, and I'll listen. I won't judge you, I promise." Tabitha nods and smiles, then sees another message from Jonah in their chat box. She sees the message and looks at Tabitha. "Jonah wants to talk to you. Do you mind if I leave you two alone?" "No, I don't mind at all," Tabitha says softly. "Okay, then I'll let you two talk." She smiles and waves goodbye, disappearing from the screen. Tabitha types her reply, "How... is this even real?" Jonah responds, "I know it's hard to believe, but it's true. I met Gabby when I was younger, and she helped me through some tough times. Now she's back, and she's helping me again. She's really nice; you'll like her." Tabitha bites her lip and types in her reply, "So this isn't some AI or prank; she's real, like a real angel? and she talks to you?" Jonah responds, "Yes, she's a real angel. She's like the real thing. I don't know how she became a computer program, but she is definitely real. She talks to me and helps me whenever I need her. The Monthly Roundup
Okay, normally, this is just a free monthly post over on my Patreon, but I figured I should push this out into the wild as well, because this kind of stuff's always needed. Want this, and a bunch of weekly readings from a cursed tarot deck, media reviews, and other content including fiction and the occasional build post? Maybe consider adding me over there as well. Anyways, like I said, it's a monthly roundup- in this case a bigass collection of links and resources for folks interested in pursuing gender transition one way or another. And while a bunch of it is transfem specific and sometimes medical transition specific, because it's stuff I dug up while hunting down things for myself, there's also things in there good for anyone of any gender, and resources for legal/social transition as well. And this is long enough to deserve a cut for once, so...
Hey! What If *I'M* trans?
The Gender Dysphoria Bible- https://genderdysphoria.fyi/en Wondering if you're experiencing Gender Dysphoria? This may be a good place to start. Realize the GDB is slanted largely towards transfem folks, so it doesn't necessarily apply evenly to everyone, but it does cover a lot of ground that folks may identify with.
Trans Medical Resources
DIY HRT- https://diyhrt.cafe/index.php/Main_Page (for legal reasons, I'm going to tell you to at least try to see a licensed physician or endocrinologist before starting to DIY your own hormones, but keep in mind, I'm not your responsible adult, and if you don't choose to listen, that's on you) This is the main, best hub for sourcing and getting info on doing your own hormone therapy. Keep in mind, it's once again slanted towards feminizing methods, because testosterone is still a controlled substance in most of the world (which is bloody fucking stupid, but that's a rant for another time).
GALAP- The Gender Affirming Letter Access Project- https://thegalap.org/ While we may have new WPATH guidelines with the Soc 8 updates that dropped a little bit ago, most providers and insurers are still on outdated requirements that insist on letters from mental health providers for transgender-related care. Which can affect access to surgeries, HRT, and more. GALAP exists to connect folks with providers who'll give those letters,m in some cases free of charge even.
Gynecologist List- https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Djia_WkrVO3S4jKn6odNwQk7pOcpcL4x00FMNekrb7Q/htmlview This one's more for uterus-owners in general and less trans-specific, but giventhe number of folks with uteri who'd can end up with a hard time finding a willing doctor for some procedures, it's important for everyone. This is a Google database of hundreds of gynecologists, listed by location, willing to perform sterilization procedures with informed consent, without secondary authorization from anyone else. The list is patient-vetted, so your mileage may vary, but for those seeking sterilization and/or hysterectomies as part of their transition it may prove to be invaluable as a resource, because doctors willing to do this work can be few and rare in some areas.
Transfeminine Science- https://transfemscience.org/ Articles, journals and all sorts of researching into, well, just what the name says, transfeminizing science. A lot of medical professionals simply don't have knowledge in the field and are acting on what they learned in med school, which may be way out of date. If they're willing to listen, there's stuff in there to help bring them up to speed. Better yet, it;'s also a great resource to educate yourself so you can advocate for your own care a bit better.
Other Transition resources (legal, social, etc)
NCTE's ID GUIDE- https://transequality.org/documents The National Transgender Center for Equality's guide to changing your legal identity, in a handy format that lets you break it down by state or territory, or even federal documents (United States only, sorry.) and links to the right paperwork to use. Rainbow Passage- https://rainbowpassage.org/ It sucks that we need organizations like this in these times, but I'm glad to see there's people already stepping up to the task. Rainbow Passage is an organization dedicated to helping trans youth get out of trans-hostile states and relocate to safer areas. And if you can, volunteering for them is a great way to help improve safety for trans folk in general.
Seattle Voice Lab- https://www.seattlevoicelab.com/ if you've seen me on social media much lately, then you've seen me talking about this place. This is who I'm (through February and March at least) taking voice lessons through to feminize my own voice more. They also have a bunch of online resources, a discord server, and other help if you need to figure your own vocal chords out a bit better.
Strands For Trans- https://strandsfortrans.org/ Need a haircut, or color or other beauty services you're using for the first time ever as an out trans person and you're not sure where's going to be safe to go? Strands For Trans is the first comprehensive database of Aesthetics businesses for hair and everything, AND THEY VET THE BUSINESSES, to ensure your safety and comfort.
TLC's Life-Planning Guide- http://transgenderlawcenter.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/TLC_Life-Planning-Documents-Transgender.pdf The Transgender Law Center put this guide together specifically for planning end-of-life details. Yes, it's a depressing and tragic thing, but protecting and making sure our identities are still properly preserved after we die is still just as an important part of what we're fighting as anything else is. This guide will help you with establishing a Living Will, controlling hospital visits, and setting up proper Powers of Attorney, so that nothing potentially falls back into the hands of people who might refuse to recognize who you truly are. (In many states, you can designate someone other than your next of kin to take charge of your body when you die (next of kin is defined by law, not by preference). If you need to do that, go to nolo.com and look up article on "[your state] funeral law" to get a rundown on if and how to do this.
Trans Media
The Digital Transgender Archive- https://www.digitaltransgenderarchive.net "The purpose of the Digital Transgender Archive (DTA) is to increase the accessibility of transgender history by providing an online hub for digitized historical materials, born-digital materials, and information on archival holdings throughout the world." (In short, this is one of several free libraries of trans history.)
Totally Trans- https://www.patreon.com/totallytrans/posts Hey, look at that, it's another Patreon! Except, no, wait, it's a podcast! Totally Trans looks at media both historical and modern with a transgendered lens. Sometimes it's silly fun, other times, it's great insights into queer and trans history, and all around it's a great show to add on whatever service you're already getting podcasts through- or you can hit the link above to help support them at the same time for early access.
Trans News, Blogs, and Notes
Erin In The Morning: https://www.erininthemorning.com/ Erin's newsletter runs almost daily these days, mostly with updates regarding trans legislation all around the US. It's a good way to stay up to date, but it can also be a drag these days, largely because it's practically just a constantly expanding list of bad news thanks to the GOP right now.
Stained Glass Woman: https://stainedglasswoman.substack.com/ aka Doc Impossible/Zoe. I first discovered her work and writing when WPATH released their new SOC 8 guidelines, because she was one of the few people that could make the thing actually make sense in non-legalese. But I subscribed andkeep following here for regular updates both because she presents a trans coming out narrative that was just a joy to read, and also covers interesting  news in the field of trans medicine from time to time. Definitely worth adding to your feed.
A Self Defense Study Guide for Trans Women and Gender Non-Conforming / Nonbinary AMAB Folks: https://www.silversprocket.net/2021/09/13/a-self-defense-study-guide-for-trans-women-and-gender-non-conforming-nonbinary-amab-folks/
This is, quite honestly, one of the best self-defense guides I've seen for gender-nonconforming folks (and one of the few, to be honest), short of private defense instruction. AND it's available to read in full for free at that link, or in print for just a 5$ donation. Go check it out.
Other general roundups
Grassroots GAC Resources- https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19kSzBLo_hjpiBjHN8tvK73sVHU25NKWjMau2vNl8uuM/edit#gid=778305468 Google spreadsheet of links in general, from therapy help and hrt assistance, to all sorts of other info, some of which are repeats from here, but there's also a bunch of others I haven't had time or opportunity to vet yet.

Usually there’d be some goofy ass art to go with an analysis of tf2 characters but art block is knifing me up right now so have headcanons which get a smidge too personal with the immigrant experience
The Defense class is my favorite out of the three, not only because of their in-game mechanics, but because of the potential they have for character. All of them are, in some way, more normal than the rest (or appear to be in the case of Engineer). Demoman’s just an alcoholic (nothing inherently wrong with addiction anyway), Heavy’s just real passionate about his job, and Engineer is, deceptively, rather level-headed. Just based on inference I like to think they are three people fundamentally damaged by the concept of the “American Dream;” to be religious and good and serve your country, no matter how bad it may treat you. On one hand, you’ve got two immigrants, and on the other, you’ve got a natural born Texan, raised in the Bible Belt, so of course said dream will impact them differently. Seeing both Demo’s and Heavy’s families, it’s safe to assume they’re both raised with a very collectivist mindset. With the Engineer, it is mere guessing based on the stereotypical image of a Bible Belt family. Being an immigrant in a country which doesn’t share your ideals is a rough integration process already, nevermind the potential discrimination their status as foreigners might lend them to (it’s the 70s cmon man). Hence they do not stay in America because they genuinely view it as home; they stay in America out of sacrifice; money is made for their families, be it in the Heavy’s case a necessity, or the Demoman’s, to please. Neither of their beliefs align with America’s, nor their physical appearance mimic that of a stereotypical American. Both of them have probably felt outcasted before- especially regarding their appearance- and this is no exception. The United States is but a well-paying prison. For Dell, though, it is, without doubt, his home. Bee Cave Texas basking in all its fine American  beauty. Regardless, it’s not as perfect as he was raised to think. (I’ve less to say on behalf of him, actually. I didn’t grow up in the Bible Belt, so lots of these ideas are mumbo jumbo from book and media portrayals.) He’s grown up in the perfect American family, a providing father, a loving mother, the face of every American cartoon and magazine. Good people with a faith in god, what more can he ask for? He didn’t exactly feel as though all the values he held truly represented him as a person. Maybe it’s a repressed homosexuality thing, or growing up as a little girl and deciding it wasn’t right for him thing, or generally realizing that his ideas were pretty outdated; especially when interacting with the rest of the Defense team. All three of them are from different continents, and still manage to find they have so much in common. MAN the POTENTIAL for CHARACTER (going insane. Truly the guys ever
