will pull from The List again soon, but i saw something from develop-your-ocs and i /have/ to know : how would Malachi describe his style? i know how you describe it, but if someone asked him, what would he say (besides “normal??”)
also what’s Evie’s aesthetic vibe? i know the pinterest board is Spookycore, but like, day-to-day styling choices?
Bold of you to think Mal would know a single style descriptor beyond "casual" / "formal." Ironically, he wears a formal uniform most of the time and he's totally happy with that, even though he'd describe himself as casual.
If you dragged him into a clothing store, I think he'd be able to articulate that he prefers close-fitting clothes in darker colors, and that he doesn't like wearing bright things or patterns or anything that could possibly be perceived as "loud." 😌 I realize this does not exactly answer your question but he is an idiot, your honor.
Evie in my head is solidly Midwestern-grunge lol. Like a windbreaker-over-a-flannel-over-a-faded-T-shirt with her snowboots on and her jeans soaked up to the knees. It's a little frizzy and haphazard, but equally loved and cherished in a distressed sort of way.

aib is fucking wild actually the attention to detail is just. it drives me crazy theres so many jokes in the background constantly theres so many things where youll be like 'wow thats a fun visual gag' or 'thats a nice little bit of characterization' and then you realize while rewatching thats there was MORE set up to that or it just keeps staying consistent and builds on it more later. and like all of this is awesome on its own but also its all animated in FUCKING *POWERPOINT*?? insane.

i have to come to terms with the fact that I am actually well off for someone in this country now, like.. idk it's weird
i'm still living the exact same lifestyle that i was before, so for the most part it feels almost like nothing has changed, like maybe im spending a little bit more money on food and buying the "good" toilet paper, but all that does is allow me to actually have savings in my bank account
i still stand with the working class and impoverished people of this country, and I am very much still in the boat of "one [very] bad day from homelessness" so i am not taking this for granted whatsoever
i've just been watching some of those youtube channels where they interview random people all over the country and just like.. kinda show what their life is like and it's definitely putting mine in perspective
very very grateful for the opportunities i have had and very proud of myself for forcing myself to stay in college (even tho it took almost 10 years to finish and left me with a mountain of debt) and just like.. idk, i feel like i could be doing more to help people out, i can't wait til im out of debt ;o;

i think it is easy to project an american understanding of race/racism onto relations in other parts of the world (easy as in helps build solidarity) but i also think it would do all parties a great service to try and understand the history of racial and religious conflict in said region. and to also decenter american ways of thinking where they don’t always belong

@dragvnsovl asked- ⊙﹏☉(;へ:)
headcanons! (accepting)
⊙﹏☉ = What flusters the character
It'd be easier to list off the things that don't fluster him, to be honest. Whatever flusters him is relatively basic (or kind of pathetic from whatever way you choose to view it). That would be things like compliments or nice words in general directed towards him, small gestures of kindness, maybe even the occasional gentle touch or kiss.
He can't quite wrap his head around it and yet it embarrasses him nonetheless.
(;へ:) = What makes the character cry
Sad moments in movies, sad songs of any kind, love related or otherwise, people failing to understand what he's saying to the point where if he gets so frustrated he'll either start shouting or end up crying out of said frustration depending on the day. Lambda also does tend to cry over hurt animals as well.
He cries about a lot of things, actually. He's a bleeding heart like that.

not to be on a role with art rants but its really funny when people complain about modern art being only for rich snobs because it becomes very telling how YOU perceive art. many artists from modern art movements made a point of how everyone could do art and how daily human activity could be/is art. they created art with people who didnt come from art backgrounds at all and weren’t artists. so either you dont know about these movements/artists in which case you didnt bother to do basic research about something before calling it elitist, or worse, you do and you think these concepts (every day life can be art) are too complex for non-artists to understand.

thinking about that one tiktok where some guy went on about how the hunger games is conservative because, in his words, “the capitol citizens are coded to be queer and this redneck girl who lives in the woods leads a revolution against these queer people.” (found it) it’s a particularly interesting take because he noticed an aspect of the hunger games that is so interesting to me but then read it in the most surface-level way imaginable.
i do agree that many of the capitol citizens are queer coded but this is the end of where his reading of it was right. there is a deep contrast between how the capitol citizens express themselves compared to how the district citizens express themselves and it is not to push a conservative agenda. it’s about control. showing somebody that it is a possibility for them to express themselves beyond the box they were initially stuffed in is a liability in a country where the power the authoritarian government holds is already fragile. capitol citizens are afforded the right to test the bounds of gender because there is no risk of them realizing that maybe, there are other boundaries to push! a good majority of them are very comfortable with sitting complacently because the status they have benefits them. the hunger games, for one, does not do anything for them other than offer entertainment. but the reaping, the tributes, they’re all divided between strict categories of Boy and Girl Tribute. there is no crossing lines for people from the districts.
i may not know what suzanne collins was exactly thinking when writing this aspect of thg, but i know it doesn’t take a genius to realize that an authoritarian government would do all it can to prevent its citizens from discovering that there are options beside their current reality.

solidarity is for white people
i don't blame qpocs for feeling ostracized and alienated from the lgbt/queer community, especially when the most vocal of us are white, benefit from racism, and a lot of us even weaponize our whiteness
we are never going to stand as a unionized front against our cishetallo oppressors as long as there are intercommunity issues between our different sexualities and genders, and races. and especially not when there are so called queer factions within the queer community who hate intersectionality with everything they have.
we can't just put aside our issues and "focus on the bigger picture" when so many of us treat qpocs like shit for having vastly different experiences and presentations than white queers. we NEED to start listening to their needs and wants before we white people focus on our own, whether that's smaller issues or bigger ones that keep us from being truly intersectional.
and yes this includes slur discourse. ._.

Everyone picking making the bed on that poll baffles me, tucking the fucking gottdamn what's-it-called sheet on the four corners of an even slightly unwieldy mattress is a nightmare only multiplied by it being placed in a corner, and don't get me started on getting a double size duvet to fall into place perfectly in the what's-it-called duvet sheet.
That said if you have a light mattress and a reasonably-placed single bed then good for you
