HELLO EVERYONE, WELCOME TO THE SHOW

It's time to explain the basics of the DECK OF CARD AU, but not the Lore. The Lore is unimportant....for now ;)

This AU is based off the belief that every face card in the deck represents someone historical.

KINGS OF THE DECK

Spades: Ross (Human?)

Hearts: King Dice (Higher Demon)

Diamonds: Peter Hancox (main Mind Demon)

Clubs: Lucifer (The Devil)

QUEENS OF THE DECK

Spades: Pirouletta (Lower Demon)

Hearts: Marienn (Human)

Diamonds: ??? (Mind Demon)

Clubs: Naveigh Lei (Lower Demon)

JACKS OF THE DECK

Spades: Jake Racer (Human)

Hearts: Hailey (Lower Demon)

Diamonds: Mavis Crass (Angel)

Clubs: Dean (Human)

ACES OF THE DECK

Spades: Michael (Archangel)

Hearts: Nero (Lower Demon)

Diamonds: Gabriel (Archangel)

Clubs: SEER (Mind Demon)

Now, except for Kings, the highest deck class (It goes K, Q, A, J), these roles are mild. The Kings have fates similar to those of their card.

CLUBS: Alexander the Great. Very successful, but stubborn asf. His temper will be his downfall.

HEARTS: Charlemagne. Very honoured, but also cunning. You will be missed.

DIAMONDS: Julius Caesar. Very intelligent, but too arrogant. We all know how this one ends.

SPADES: King David. Very heroic, but violent. Is it cold outside..?

Demons are in caste systems. It goes as follows:

Human

Lower Demon

Mind Demon

Higher Demon (Peter may also count here, being the main Mind Demon)

The Devil

The Devils decide generations. So far, there has been 3, and they go into 3 parts: Devil, False Prophet, and Antichrist

Gen 1: Alistair. Kimberly Wyatt (Antichrist), Brutus Dice (False Prophet)

Gen 2: Azazel. Larry Hancox (Antichrist), Alaric Dice (False Prophet)

Gen 3: Lucifer. Peter Hancox (Antichrist), King Dice (False Prophet)

Hey, notice a pattern there? Wyatt's sister started the Hancox name. The Dices have always been the Dices. These 3 names' fates are intertwined.

One thing here is that if you are to work, you have to sign a blood oath. Only once has this been necessary without intention of work, as Peter had his soul sold at birth.

Like a completely normal adult person, after watching the new trolls movie, I obsessively started putting together the brothers' backstory, the deeper reasons for their separation as well as how that all took place without disregarding the fact that they were trapped in the troll tree, which of course evolved into a fic in (forever) progress... yeah

Anyway, even though they aren't actively in the story much, i needed to design the parents, so uh meet Rosiepuff's daughter, Tulip, and her husband Branch.

I designed them based on the brothers' adult looks and in Tulip's case also on her mom's.

little detail I've picked up on: lucanis seems to like it when rook is smart. not in an academically minded way, necessarily, but when they're clever/analytical and clear-eyed about the practical realities of a matter and able to sort out the bullshit. most immediate example that comes to mind is of course when rook points out to illario that zara physically can't have made it back to vyrantium yet by conventional means in the café scene (where they're also backing what lucanis is trying to say, so the approval there makes extra sense), but it pops up in several other places too where rook cuts through to the heart of a problem with that kind of thinking. his and davrin's approval often overlap, but davrin seems to like it when rook is resolute and practical (and kind but don't tell anyone that sssh <3 ilu davrin), where I get the sense that lucanis gets that extra little thrill when they're also clever. in another contrast emmrich likes it when you're curious and openminded and kind (a lot like solas in da:i really) -- more like a life-long earnest academic *would* think about and value learning and knowledge in terms of a process and way of thinking rather than the results that come out of it -- while i think lucanis kind of likes it (and possibly gets a little ah frisson out of it depending on your relationship with him lol) when your mind is a knife. which I think is really neat. also tracks perfectly with him liking both viago and neve too haha. he clearly enjoys the Thinkers of the world.

Thank you!!! I really wanted to share them all and decided that tumblr would be the best place for that (safe space for weird thoughts).... So here's a bit more of Melissa because she is very important to me.

It's so funny because I know nothing of her. No one knows actually. Melissa literally randomly spawned in my head one day.

But I always draw her when I want to reconnect with my feminity and to feel the spirit of freedom she resembles to me, because no one knows her, she never settles anywhere, but she will always help you if fate makes you cross your paths somehow.

She is my inner psychologist and an older woman figure that doesn't judge for self expression or for your struggles. Melissa is more of a weird aunt type of person rather than mother, but you want to trust her. She knows what you're going through, and she'll give you an advice. That's why she took Therese under her wing.

There's also Niaz, other woman beside little Therese Melissa actually helps. But throughout the story it looks more like Melissa just trolls the hell out of Niaz, but they like each other, truly.
