Also in all seriousness Square literally went out of its way to change the flashback scene storyboard from Sephiroth intentionally hurting Genesis to it being a stupid accident due to Gen's own arrogance there was a clear intention that Sephiroth never felt genuine malice for Genesis

Honestly, If we're talking about female characters who receive misogynistic hate then Lyanna needs to be high up on the list. She gets so much hate for a) her proximity to a male character (Rhaegar) b) the pure fanon that people have invented surrounding her and c) resentment that she's such an important part of the story. And the thing is, for as relevant as she is, we simply do not know enough about her character to justify the hate that she receives. A lot of it is just people inventing reasons to dislike her. I also find it funny that a lot of people who dislike her are Rhaegar antis who characterize their relationship as forced and non-consensual, but then they'll still find reasons to hate her for it. She's supposedly bratty and immature, but also somehow intentionally seductive and evil for "stealing" Rhaegar and hurting Elia 🙄. I wish people would learn to separate canon from fanon when it came to discussing these characters.

This kind of thing doesn’t seem all that fun, and Tom is clearly really hurt, sure he used to get into little scraps with him, but it was nothing a quick bandage couldn’t fix.

I do have opinions on the whole "oldest middle youngest child" discourse bc they're very annoying and nobody wants to just be objective and understand that all children suffer LMAOOO. like no I promise you being the youngest isn't sunshine and rainbows, and being the oldest isn't like being tortured by the devil. like, my loneliness stems from my earliest childhood where my brothers didn't wanna include me or play with me bc they were much older likeee tell me how that's a good thing? and my older brothers did do some housework but rarely complained abt it as some sort of horrible thing that burdened their life. and sure my parents were way more strict with them when they were kids than they were with me but they didn't have to witness my father's violent rage episodes, or his screaming at their mom and myself, degrading abusive language and etc. like they're sooo lucky to not have been ruined by their father in their teen years.
