The Chevalier-Kennedy Connection

The two families are very close and are connected through business deals but are pulled more closely through one woman. Her charms exposed her to all the men she could want, but she only came to truly love three, two of which were Kennedys and one of which was a Chevalier.

Timeline

20's The earliest connection between the two families can be traced back to the 1920s, when your (Cosette) paternal grandfather had gotten Joseph Kennedy to sign off as one of the investors in his law firm. Joseph was a smart businessman and must've seen some potential in the firm.

He was proved right as the business began booming throughout the rest of the 20s and your paternal grandfather was becoming a man of status in the business world. His name only became even more well known as he made dipped his hand in the oil industry in 1923 when everyone thought that the oil reserves had been exhausted. Only months later in 1924, there was discovery of enormous new oil fields in Texas, Oklahoma, and California. And just like that his wealth grew tenfold.

Thankfully due to his build-up of riches, he didn't feel the effects of the Great Depression. And your father, just like the Kennedy children, didn't realize that the Great Depression was even happening. As the rest of America got poorer and poorer, the rich like the Kennedys and now the Chevaliers were getting richer and richer.

Your grandfather credited all of it to Joseph Kennedy, and he remained in business with Joseph throughout the rest of his life, which led to a close friendship between the two as they were only 2 years apart in age and often saw each other.

1936 It was 1936 when your father, Jean Claude Chevalier, had first met Joseph. He was being groomed to be the next head of the law firm and had met with all his father's investors over dinner. Joseph had enjoyed Jean's humor and intelligent manner, which got him an invite to his house to have dinner with his family, since the two families would continue to be business partners.

Within that same year, your mother, Camille Lourdes Chevalier, at the time Camille Lourdes Laurent had been dubbed with the title of Ms. America, taking after her mother who had done the same. She was a twin and her brother had enrolled in Harvard, he was in the same graduating class as John F. Kennedy, and the two had become close friends, which led to John inviting him and his family to dinner with a few other friends. It was at that dinner that John and Camille had met, Camille was smitten with him as any girl was with a Kennedy, and he was just the same.

1937 In the year 1937 John invited Camille and her brother over to his house for an informal dinner that the family was having, and Jean had been invited as well by John who had become close with him in the past years. Camille had then met your father, Jean, and he was absolutely taken by her beauty. Then he asked if she would like to come to dinner with him sometime, she said yes of course because she and John, who she often called just Jack were only a casual thing, and as she was now 20 she needed to find something more serious, as her mother warned her about becoming an old bag without a husband.

1938 By 1938 Camille had won her second title as Ms. America and now shared the record with Mary Katherine Campbell (whom she would go on to meet and become close friends with). Camille and John's fooling around had gone on for two years while she'd also been going steady with Jean for a year.

1939 1939 was when things had changed, Jean, now 26, had proposed to Camille, now 22, and Camille said yes, she then ended things with John officially and went on to marry Jean only a month later. And within that year she'd have twins with her new husband.

Jean had been aware of the relationship between Camille and Kennedy, after all spending late nights drinking in the office while talking about politics with John, the man was bound to let a few unsavory sentences about Camille slip out of his mouth and into Jean's ear.

Of course, Jean wouldn't say anything as Camille and John were officially done. His pride as a man wouldn't be damaged as long as Jean could keep his woman from straying. But he wouldn't be successful in that forever as he would stray as well.

1941 - 1943 1941 through 1943 were rough years for Camille. In 1941 John, her past and 1st love had entered the Navy right before the US entered World War II , and her once-doting husband had taken over the firm since his father passed away that year, he was never home and she was left home alone with the staff.

Only 2 years after John entered the Navy her husband followed in 1943, and she was in a fit of sobs after learning he would be leaving her and to rebel she threatened him with divorce and went to live at a hotel. But only two nights into her stay at the hotel he had knocked on the door of her room and didn't return to the Chevalier estate till morning, and when he did return, she was in his arms with proof of his apology sprawled along the skin of her neck down into her clothes.

1945 - 1948 In 1945 John had returned from the navy, he'd been honorably discharged and before the news could completely get out he had gone to the Chevalier estate to greet Camille. She was happy to see he was alive and for the most part well. As the two mingled in the long hall, adorned with photos of her and the twins he had cupped her cheek and told her she looked well and full of color, then he questioned why she hadn't responded to his letters. She only pulled her cheek away and spoke dryly that it wasn't within her values to entertain other men while her husband was fighting for the country.

It left him speechless as she thanked him quietly for visiting and said her children in the other room needed her, as she walked away she only turned around once to wish him a safe way home. The two would go on to avoid each other as best they could till 1960

Just a few months later after the war had been declared officially over, Jean had returned from the Navy and the two acted as if they were on their honeymoon for the next three years, happy to be together once again. It was from that happiness that you were born in 1948, and with the birth of a 3rd child, Camille and Jean moved to the Upper East Side of New York. The Chevaliers now owned townhouses from 59th Street to 96th Street, while also having invested in jewelry and fur businesses sprawled around from Fifth Avenue to Third Avenue.

1951 - 1955 In 1951 Jean did his best to try and repay Joseph Kennedy for everything he'd done for his father, though he knew he never truly repay him, he made a small attempt by sending a letter of recommendation for Joseph's son who had recently passed the bar exam, Robert F. Kennedy, to the Internal Security Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, which earned Robert the position. From then on the two got closer and Robert's nickname, Bobby, was used to express their familiarity. It was that same year that Camille gave birth to a son, her fourth and final child.

In 1952 Bobby had come to stay with the family for a month as he had business in New York and your father, Jean, wouldn't allow for him to stay alone in a hotel no matter how grand. The two were close and would continue to be for the rest of Bobby's life.

It was in 1955 that Bobby had done something incredibly uncharacteristic. Jean had been away on business, but the men who knew him, and even his own wife Camille knew that meant he had also likely been away on a sexscapade with other women while he went to a few meetings to the different districts of his firm in other states.

Bobby had seen Camille crying and tried to soothe her. She'd cry and cry asking why she wasn't enough, was it her beauty? Her beauty was all she'd ever been recognized for her entire life, she was not smart, nor was she overly kind, she was only beautiful, it's all she had, and with her age and her husband's infidelity she had begun to question it.

To help her feel better Bobby admitted to having a crush on her as a kid in the 30s when she would visit the Kennedy home for parties and admitted that with age she's only gotten better, like the finest of wines. It couldn't be said how it exactly happened, but it happened. Camille had bedded another Kennedy while her husband was no doubt bedding a prostitute. And in that, she found peace, a sort of sense of silent superiority that she could enjoy alone, that she could have to soothe herself to sleep when her husband couldn't.

The future years Even if she wanted to cut away from them completely she never could, they were too well entangled in the Chevalier family. They were business partners, their political campaigns were helped funded (both monetarily and influentially) by the Chevalier name, and at the end of the day, they were like family.

Camille would go on to exchange intimate phone calls with Bobby in the night, and she'd continue to try to live with the ways of a husband. And though there were nights she'd look back and wish that she had chosen John, she'd realize that a husband would always be a husband. She only loved her relationship with John and her relationship with Bobby because neither were her husband.

She had to remind herself that they were someone else's husband. And that is what ingrained the thought into her head that a husband will always be a husband, though a man may be kind, respectful, and sweet, a husband will be greedy, lustful, and horrible. And she'd make sure to get that idea through your sweet little brain before you learned the hard way and turned into her.

Hopefully, this gives a little insight into Cosette's mother and why her mother is the way she is. Also, I can confidently say that both the Kennedy brothers mentioned will definitely make a flashback live appearance in upcoming installations of Baby Love. I can't wait to post more about this au I really am having too much fun!

Sometimes I really dislike how people make her into being just an "all anger and violence and bloodlust" when she's a much deeper character than that. And I am thankful for the movie to have showcased that, though it was rushed and but a large fight scene in a lot of other ways. At least it did Mereo justice in showing that she... has a heart.

She is a caring individual, who is a warrior, don't get me wrong, but she has a softer side too. And I think that a lot of her fierce nature comes from wanting to protect, and knowing that she is able to protect, those that are close to her.

She's not a fighter; someone who fights for the sake of a fight. She's a warrior; someone who fights for a cause.

Fuegoleon:

Similarly, I don't care for how sometimes it feels like a portion of the fandom makes Fue out to be... dumb. As in, sure, he's a serious guy who's not always in touch with the times, or the people, but... That doesn't make him stupid. Luckily the circles I'm in currently don't have this issue, but I've seen more than enough takes on how he's but a dumb doormat who'd forgive any wrong done onto him because he's weak like that. And that's partly why I feel like emphasizing that his ability to upkeep peace amongst the captains about the betrayal done onto him took incredible strength of character.

He is smart. He is capable. But he's serious and a bit of a prude (affectionate).

He's more than "I'm pretty✨". In fact, I think that his need to emphasize his own beauty stems from insecurity. He doesn't feel like he'd ever add up to some standard that he has set for himself. A case of "pretend to be confident until you yourself believe it".

And I'd go as far as to say that it might play into him being the VC of the Peacocks. Maybe he feels overwhelmed by the position, but he still wants to do as good of a job as he can in it.

She's the only "not-mainly-attack" mage among the Vermillions, and it must be tough, because she's... a healer in a House full of Battle Mages. And it wouldn't be surprising if she has heard comments about how "poor Mimosa... she's not like the rest of her family". The thought came from this fic by @/wildflowerwoods.

She's not weak for being kind, for being a healer. Hell, a well versed healer is the next thing from a god at a field of battle, because once they run out of mana, they decide who gets to live and who dies.

Leopold:

He's not weak for not finding his learning method or fighting style as young as his siblings did. There are some people who don't learn to study until well into their adult years, and there's no re3why it'd be different with Leo. Even in BC Noelle took time to get control of her magic, and she uses a wand to better direct her spells. Sometimes you just need to find the right tool.

So, Leo isn't just "a precious baby in need of protection", he's a sweet guy with a heart of gold, who's a great warrior in the making. He's just got to figure out the right path, or the way to travel the path, for himself.

11. Favorite (or just one you love) piece of LGBT media?: WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME???? I'm gonna give u three out of Many that are perfect. and I'm going to connect them to a Theme (I'VE CONNECTED THE DOTS). the thing is that these movies are movies that have at some point held me gently and guided me into a greater understanding of the queer community and history generally, as well as my own feeling of place within this community

My Beautiful Laundrette: This is one of my personal seminal queer movies, I watched it as a young'un/baby queer and it's just. Oh. such softness amidst the violence of the times, and the thing is that the softness is something that saves the main characters from the violence, both as potential perpetrators and victims (and how those can be blurred concepts to begin with). the core of it is two men who come back together amidst the height of neo-nazi anti-immigration 80s England, one of whom is Pakistani British and the other a white skinhead. And they open a laundrette together. This movie is sweet, I promise! it also features one of the subtly hottest moments to me in film history, in which one of them licks the others' neck in public while being watched on one side by Pakistani family members and on the other by white racists but it's angled so none of them see it!

City of Lost Souls: Listen, Rosa Von Praunheim's documentation of trans people (and generally queer people) is so so important for our community and you should check him out, but this film in particular is such a wild fucking ride that is hard to explain. a bunch of queer artists in 80s Berlin (and this movie was made in the 80s so you get some real footage of that great big wall) just like... fuck around? share intense elder wisdom? connect? sing! (oh yeah, it's kind of a musical, a trashy punky musical). This is some of the real deep magic of queer connection. there's an iconic moment in this film (there are several) in which a trans woman picks up a one-night stand and explains to him that she's trans and he's like. "eh no idea what all of that means, but you're saying you're a woman right? great!" and it's just Fine

Desire Lines: listen this movie... I'm almost hesitant to recommend it, because I feel so personally affected by it and it's a one-of-a-kind (so far) insight into transmasculine gay culture that is just. deeply precious and not understood by a lot of even the wider queer community. myself and every transmasc person I know who's seen it have felt somewhat transcendent about it, the way you do the first time you see yourself as (positively) visible in this way, it's almost too much. it's a documentary at heart, but quite experimental in elements of its structure, with parts of it being a fictional telling of a middle-aged iranian trans man who works in an archive and is told of the history of trans men's inclusion in gay bathhouses, lou sullivan, and personal testimonies from gay transmasc people. sometimes you don't notice how deprived you've been until something gives you real oxygen

It's not complete, but I've started a little zine that's just a big collection of euphemisms and ways of talking about queerness and it's such a fascinating, fun project that's made me think more expansively about how queerness gets talked about, whether it's in the past or present (or potential futures), within and without the community, as modern, or bigoted, or outdated, or fun, or out-of-the-box, or specific, etc. -- it's very far from done, but I can give a sense of just how many words/phrases/concepts I've picked up + imagery I want to include + the construction of the zine itself, which has a few little secrets to it

He absolutely Hates getting his hair done he’s not very patient anyways, but having to sit still with his mom tugging on his scalp just for it to be ruined in a week or two from his constant swimming it’s not worth his time or energy that is why it’s usually in a bun with a few braids to his scalp so it doesn’t knot so easy when he does finally let ronal redo the braids n bun

He loves flowers sure there are pretty sea shells ,rocks of all shapes n sizes and colors and bits of colorful coral but flowers man they take his breath alway from the simple flowers to the rarest of them all, he can’t help but stare in awe excitedly smelling them unfortunately that has resulted in a few mishaps from him have a sneezing fit or his face itches but the worst one was he fell asleep for the entire day and most of the night waking up groggy in the middle of eclipse

He isn’t the biggest fan of fish yeah ik that is like the main thing they eat sue me lol it’s not that he disliked all fish but he’s pretty picky of a eater one of those people that eat like the same 6 meals that’s him lol however I feel like he’s a slut for berries and I mean all the berries lol keeps them bad boys on hand for snackin

He loves to lay in the sun even as a child when him and his friends would run off of from their parents watching eyes to play in the water he would always end up on shore with his back leaning against a near by tree covered slightly by shade soaking in the sun into his beautiful blue skin even now as an adult he spend most of his spare time laying in the sun

He’s a great singer most males in the metkayina Clan usually don’t sing much like the Omaticaya clan, but it’s not necessarily frowned upon by the people but he loves to sing, he feels it’s just another way to free his mind from the constant pressure and expectations of other people when he’s singing his gear out he can just be him even if it’s just for a song

He LOVES bugs like so very very very much when he was just a child maybe 4 or 5 he started trying to bring them home to which of course Ronal said “hell nah boy you crazy” of course Tono being the softy he is couldn’t tell his precious baby boy no (the only one allowed to was ronal but she was the only one to tell tono’wari no too lol ) but it kinda just stuck with him as he got older he really loves butterflies the most he loves to take care of the small caterpillars feeding them and watching them grow into the beautiful chrysalis hanging from the large cage he has them in to prevent them getting way or someone messing with them once they hatch before they can fully open their wings ofc once they do he brings them some sweet fruit juice and feeds them from his finger before letting his little babies fly off into the world it’s his favorite part because he gets to start all over again!

He has a bad habit of doing before thinking without out a doubt getting him in trouble nearly everyday he’s been cleaning the Ilus for years now it’s not even a punishment anymore besides he loves animals sometime more then his people

He can’t make jewelry it either falls apart or it’s terrible ugly and the string looks to bulky with the clumsy knots he used to keep the shells and rocks in place but he can make a MEAN net okay like this man right here makes the strongest nets the clan has ever seen making it possible to catch big fish in the seasons where the fish are hard to find, they scoop that big bitch up and just take it to shore before thanking it for its sacrifice to feed the clan in this time of need (thank you great beast that he doesn’t want to eat but will lol)

He’s a cuddle monster from the time he was just a baby he was attached to his dear mom making everyone think he’s gonna be a mamas boy with out a doubt but from the time he was able to follow his dad around while ronal took care of the sick and his baby sister he realized his dad had not a single problem carrying his son on his back, in fact tono’wari liked to carry him because he felt like he missed out on the the cuddly years of his childhood his son being almost 6 now but soon realizing his beautiful son was just as much interested in being held by his sempal as he was his mother, soon moving him to carry him with one arm under him and one around his small Frame keeping him safe from all danger he’s sons head firmly pressed his chest as he snoozes away, even as an adult he finds himself cuddling his family lol when his parents are sitting in bed doing their little routines of getting ready for bed like ronal sewing up some clothes and Tono fixing up a net for the hunt tomorrow, he would lay between them just talking about their days before making his way to his baby sisters room touching her stuff, making muscles at himself in the mirror, and pulling her hair the classic big brother things he gives her a big bone crushing hug just to hear her complain before dropping her on her plush nest of a bed before making his way to his own house lol

Ao’nung had just takin his first steps not to long ago now pretty much confident in his ability to get around, Tono was a very proud sempal saying that it was a sign from eywa that he was destined for great things for learning to walk so fast and so easy at that in fact that was exactly what he was bragging about to a few of the warriors that were also new to parent hood. Completely engrossed in the conversation to see his brave little boy completely fucking taking off like vvvvvvvvvvvrrrroooooom!!!!! right down the path to the beach like he knew where his little legs were carrying him he didn’t even hesitate to jump belly first into the water shortly after being taken further in the water by the large waves sucking him further further unfortunately the poor baby has no idea what swimming is he just knows that the water is fun that he loves the water. Right now as he has difficulties breathing he’s very scared tears running down his face right before he could take a big gulp of water an ilu swam up to him placing her nose right under his belly lifting him out of the water enough to breath before swimming him to shore placing the baby on the sand nuzzling against him to keep him warm in the cool air as if she knows that he needs help immediately, just as the baby starts to come back to reality not so scared anymore his sempal comes running with many worried warriors by his side, before snatching him off the ground crying tears of joy thanking the animal and eywa for watching over his precious baby boy in his time of negligence so happy that he is still here safe and smiling so brightly all while petting his sempals face as if to say “hey dad look I’m tough all in one piece see”

when did you watch bad buddy/join the fandom?

i watched bad buddy exactly 3 months ago on the 15th of May, 2023. i watched all the episodes all on the same day and i know the date because after finishing the show i sent a 7 minute long audio note gushing about the show to my best friend. i ADORED it that much. and that's where all of this started. i loved the show so much and the lack of people i knew irl who were interested meant i had to find other people in the fandom to freak out with. i kept posting one after another favourite bad buddy edit of mine on my twitter page, gushing about it, but i got barely any response and that's when i reminded myself that tumblr exists and i should get back on here. and that's how i made this account 2 weeks after i watched the show and voila here i am surrounded by people who are as crazy about the show as i am and i couldn't be more delighted about it :')

i love pat with all my heart, the man he ends up becoming along the course of the show is one of my most favorite portrayals of any man ever BUT pran is my actual favorite, he is my baby, (somehow both) my elder and younger brother and my best friend and he has my whole heart. his love, his hesitance, his anxiety, his bravery, his dimples, his FOREHEAD, his striped shirts, his precious heart i would DIE for him no questions asked.

episode 11. each segment had something for the heart, i adored every single second of it...the sheer volume of beaut quotes from this episode is mind blowing! ("being with you already feels like freedom", "i can be anywhere as long as i have you", "we have been happier a lot too", "thankyou for trying to make a silly guy like me happy..." "i wrote this song for him", "one man can't change the world, but this world can't change me too"), and the soft loving looks of adoration making me clutch my chest, but also there was the quintessential patpran banter and bad buddy humour and wisdom i LOVE this episode with all my heart.

episode 5 is perfection. it comes second for me, but that kiss will always be number 1 <3

one thing you would change about the show if you could

i wished the gangs didnt bully eo or anybody else even in the beginning, i get it shows growth but still i wished that was shown differently. also i wish we got a conversation where they talk about the guitar. and while we're here i wish it was somehow longer, i could have watched ohmnanon be patpran for HOOOURS.
