From Apple Music: "In the 18 months after Taylor Swift released Midnights, it often felt as though the universe had fully opened up to her. The Eras Tour was breaking records and blowing past the billion-dollar mark; its attendant concert film became the highest-grossing of all time. She generated interest and commerce and headlines everywhere she stepped foot, from tour stops to the tunnels of NFL stadiums. In 2023, she was named both TIME magazine’s Person of the Year and—just as iconic, tbh—Apple Music’s Artist of the Year.
But do songs about that level of success speak to you? As the news broke that her highly private six-year relationship to Joe Alwyn had ended, Swifties started Swiftie-ing, quickly recirculating a clip on social media of Swift a few weeks earlier, onstage during an early Eras show, in tears as she sang “champagne problems”—a song she and Alwyn had written together. It was a reminder that, despite the superhero-like aura she now radiates, Swift, at her peak, still hurts like the rest of us. What sets her apart is her ability to sublimate that pain into pop. When she announced her 11th studio album in early 2024—while accepting another Grammy, as one does—we probably shouldn’t have been surprised.
“I needed to make it,” she’d say of THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT a few weeks later, to a crowd of—[rubs eyes]—96,000 in Melbourne, Australia. “I’ve never had an album where I’ve needed songwriting more than I needed it on TORTURED POETS.” Working again with trusted collaborators Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner, she returns to the soft, comfortable, bed-like sonics of Midnights. But the stakes feel noticeably higher here: This isn’t so much a breakup album as it is a deep-sea exploration of everything Swift has been feeling, a plunge through emotional debris.
On “But Daddy I Love Him”—over strings and guitar that faintly recall her country roots—she lashes out at the crush of scrutiny and expectation she’s been subject to from the start. Naturally, catharsis comes after the chorus: “I’ll tell you something right now,” she sings. “I’d rather burn my whole life down than listen to one more second of all this bitching and moaning.” On “Florida!!!” she and Florence + the Machine team up for a pulpy escape fantasy wherein they Thelma and Louise their way down to the Sunshine State in hopes of starting over with new lives and identities: “Love left me like this,” they sing. “And I don’t want to exist.”
At turns hilarious and heartbreaking, TTPD is a study in extremes, Swift leaning into heightened emotions with heightened, hyperbolic, ALL-CAPS language and imagery—how we think when we’re drunk on love or flattened by its sudden disappearance. Note the dark humour she weaves through the Post Malone-enriched opener “Fortnight” (“Your wife waters flowers/I wanna kill her”). Or the thrilling self-deprecation of “Down Bad”, a foray into science fiction wherein Swift likens the warmth of a relationship to being abducted by love-bombing extraterrestrials—only to be left “naked and alone, in a field in my same old town.”
But this remains her most candid and unsparing work to date: As a listener, you frequently get the feeling that you’ve stumbled across emails she’d written but never sent, or into conversations you were never meant to hear. There’s a density and a specificity and a ferocity to her lyrical work here that makes 2012’s “All Too Well” feel sorta light by comparison. If you’re the kind of Swiftie who likes to live in the details, well, this one might be your Super Bowl. “You swore that you loved me, but where were the clues?” she asks on the devastating “So Long, London”, a high point. “I died on the altar waiting for the proof.” Alone at a piano on the haunting “loml”, she flips the script on someone who’d told her she was the love of their life, by telling them that they were the loss of hers: “I’ll still see it until I die.”
The story, as you likely know, doesn’t end there. We get a glimpse of new beginnings in “The Alchemy” (“This happens once every few lifetimes/These chemicals hit me like white wine”) and something like triumph in the montage-ready synths of “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart”, when Swift, shattered on the floor, “as the crowd was chanting, ‘More!’,” still finds the strength to deliver: “’Cause I’m a real tough kid and I can handle my shit.”
But we also get a sense of acceptance, of new-found perspective. On “Clara Bow”—named after a 1920s movie star who was able to survive the jump from silent film to sound—Swift reflects on the journey of a small-town girl made good, sung from the vantage of an industry obsessed with the next big thing. She zooms out and out and out until, in the album’s closing seconds, she’s singing about herself in the third person, in past tense, acknowledging that nothing is forever. “You look like Taylor Swift in this light, we’re loving it,” she sings. “You’ve got edge she never did/The future’s bright, dazzling.”
I'm not restricting or limiting her artistic potential or anything but I really think Taylor Swift's niche in genre is dream, folk or synth-pop. That ethereal soundscape goes well with her small-ranged voice and her lyrical style works best when it's telling stories about stuff that isn't even necessarily about her, but about someone or something.
It's her niche. Where she sounds her best. When she's at her best.
I like the fact that in this album she's not worried about singles because most of these songs are too long for radio play unless they have to cut them down, and we all know how she feels about that. It's an album meant to be an album. It's a proper concept album. She doesn't need to worry about singles anyway. She'll sell regardless.
It sounds bloody fantastic in lossless 24-bit 48kHz ALAC/FLAC.
She's done it again. Created a musical masterpiece.
Like we'd expect anything less from Taylor Swift.
"As a listener, you frequently get the feeling that you’ve stumbled across emails she’d written but never sent, or into conversations you were never meant to hear. There’s a density and a specificity and a ferocity to her lyrical work here that makes 2012’s “All Too Well” feel sorta light by comparison." Yeah, you do with every great songwriter. The difference is great songwriters that are actually the musical artists of what you're listening to don't often exist in the pop industry.
Taylor Swift takes up space in pop music because she demands it. Most people would scoff at it. Even call it egoic. I highly respect it because she brings to pop music the point of the music. Art - not just entertainment. There's a phrase I use: Art is meant for expression, not impression. And she provides and delivers both seamlessly within each other. That's why the space she demands, she deserves. Not just any pop artist can do that or have that mark in the pop industry because most of them don't even write their own fucking music.
So if you feel like you shouldn't be present when listening - you feel put out or uncomfortable in any way - that's how you know you're listening to a true and great songwriter because they all DO THIS.

Anyway, went to my neighbour's funeral today. The strange old man who lived next door who was for the most part the kind and helpful side of Very Strange, so he was okay, but still undoubtedly Very strange, and listening to the eulogy made Everything that was previously a mystery about why he was objectively odd make perfect, utterly bonkers, sense.

woody & buzz - evan buckley x reader
Tumblr media
It's just a costume, it's just a costume.
Buck repeats the mantra in his head, as if repeating a fact would somehow make his boner disappear.
The two of you were at Hen and Karen's house, amongst other members of the 118, celebrating Halloween with just the adults since Harry and May decided to take the younger kids trick-or-treating. Buck had decided to make use of the cowboy hat he had from his ranch hand days, and dressed up as Woody from Toy Story. So naturally, you had to be Buzz Lightyear. Your costume was a one piece that was tight and showed a lot more skin than the astronaut did. Not that Buck was complaining, of course.
He may have survived just the tight material on your body, but you were also wearing extremely tall white boots. And Buck couldn't stop envisioning having you underneath him wearing the boots and nothing else.
Since Buck had a shift earlier today and you didn't, the two of you had decided to take separate cars to meet up at the Wilsons'. Buck is sure that if he had seen the costume earlier, the two of you would not have even left the apartment.
You make your way to Buck, who had been leaning behind the kitchen island, trying to hide his arousal from everyone.
"Here, babe," you say, as you thrust a red Solo cup of a mysterious-looking liquid at him. "I don't know what it is, but Karen said it would clear a sinus infection you didn't even know you had."
Buck chuckles, and accepts the cup. He shifts to the right and leans in close to give you a kiss that he hopes conveys thank you and hi, I've missed you, and oh crap, you can probably feel him poking you through his pants right now.
His suspicions are confirmed when you giggle, and quirk your eyebrow at him.
"Hey, I'm only human! Of course I'm going to be turned on when I see my girlfriend dressed like this!" Buck defends himself, waving his hands from your head to your feet.
You laugh louder, and say, "Wow, I can't believe you're dressed as Woody and sporting a woody. The jokes just write themselves."
Buck lets out a noise that's a cross between a groan and a laugh. He doesn't think his boner would quell anytime soon, not when you were next to him, smelling, looking, and sounding amazing.
Buck doesn't have to suffer for long though, because you're tugging on his arm, steering him towards the front door.
"Come on, I already told Hen we would be back later in the night. I have a cowboy to ride."

Okay, okay, okay, so, here me out:
Clairvoyant!Tim Drake.
It started out as a dream and has sort of evolved with the help (and enablement) of one @pumpkin0doodler.
SO.
It starts with Tim saving Jason from the Joker and Ethiopia and it goes like this:
Jason catches Tim trailing him on patrol. When he confronts the kid, it sparks a vision of Jason dying, a crowbar breaking bone, and an explosion. Tim grasps Jason by the arm hard, still mid vision, and says, “Don’t go to Ethiopia.”
Jason frowns and tries to shake off him off but Tim’s grip only increased. “What? Why would I go to Ethiopia?”
Tim starts to snap out of it and he looks up to Jason, as Robin, with all the seriousness in the world. “Just don’t go to Ethiopia, please.” Tim repeats. He would have blown him off but the kid looks seriously rattled. “Batman needs you, Robin…I need you.”
He stares at the kid for a long moment before breathing a deep breath. “Fine, whatever, I won’t go to Ethiopia. Happy?”
“Pinky promise?”
“What?”
“Pinky. Promise.” And the twerp, honest to god, holds out his pinky finger.
Jason rolls his eyes but caves. “Fine, I pinky promise I won’t go.” That seems to be enough to set the kid at ease because his shoulders drop and he smiles. If that’s all it takes to get him home, he supposed he could spare a pinky promise. “Now can we get you back home? It’s not safe out here for little twerps like you.”
-
This is going to be my entire personality for the next month, seriously. More to come.

Urban fantasy aids for people with involuntary clairvoyance:
● Glasses (tinted, clear, or prescription) for people whose visions are triggered by eye contact. They don't work for very strong prophetic impulses, but they'll stop most common-or-garden flashes of the future. Could be paired with a similar product, but intended to be worn by the other person. If both people have magically shielded their eyes, the chance of causing a vision through eye contact is almost eliminated. Their biggest drawback is that when a particularly strong vision does break through, they tend to crack or warp and need to be replaced.
● Contacts that work similar to the glasses above, but had to be developed with a different strain of magic to prevent the obvious safety issue of getting shattered by a vision. The result is that they technically do not work as well as the glasses, but because it is impossible to accidentally glance over or past them it pretty much evens out. However, when a vision does get through they will most likely cloud over and obscure all vision, which poses its own risks.
● Gloves in all shapes and styles for those who get premonitions when they touch an object or or a person's skin. The material has to withstand a lot of magical wear and tear so they hardly ever tear, but they can absolutely not be put in the washing machine.
● Amulets that repress clairvoyance as a catch-all, for people with a more versatile gift. They are easier to make than the more targeted aids, but have the drawback of being easy to lose and of possibly affecting clairvoyants other that the wearer simply because of proximity. This can be counteracted by having a bespoke amulet made, for instance using some of the wearer's hair or a teardrop. These amulets are more expensive, but more effective.
● Experimental magic techniques working with tattoos to replace physical amulets. They have to be tailored to the individual and are somewhat limited in their reach, but have shown great promise when it comes to shielding against specific people. This makes them very popular with people whose clairvoyant abilities get stronger depending on the emotional connection they have with a person. A tattoo can be a good way to prevent unwanted intrusions of the future and accidental breaches of privacy by shielding specifically against a friends, family members or partners.

so another thing about aos that I love is that when we are first shown Daisy and Jiaying's powers they seem to be opposites in that Daisy's destroy while Jiaying's powers heal. Daisy's rip her sense of self apart while Jiaying is so self-assured in hers.
And then we are shown that Daisy's powers destroy her, but the people who love and care about her work so hard to make it so that they stop hurting her. And through them, she finally finds herself and her identity.
And then we are shown that Jiaying's healing requires killing others. People are dragged, unwillingly, to her so that she can hurt even more people. And through them, she slowly loses herself.
So the opposite nature gets flipped. Daisy's are the ones used to help people and Jiaying's destroy people. Daisy's are her path to self actualization while Jiaying's are her path to self destruction.

DP x DC prompt # 8
CLAIRVOYANT DANNY X DCU
He knew he had no choice when he called Constantine for help, but Commissioner Gordon dropped the case off to him; unfortunately even he or Oracle weren't able to find any leads to any suspect or clue about it; so meeting the magician was his last resort but…
"Okay Bats, I'll help you in this case just this once, but after that we'll cut it short, okay?" John barked in annoyance as he threw his cigarette butt onto the ground; Batman just grunted in annoyance at the blatant dismissal the British always did with any cases of disappearances in Gotham, citing that the city was way too danm cursed and he wasn't interested in going near the ‘toxic hotspot’
“Then, Bats do you have any lead that we can start with?” asked the warlock, looking as disheveled as always. Bruce just let out an exhausted sigh before handing him over the case folder and debriefed the contents of it:
“The wife and child disappeared while the husband was on a business trip, he found his house looted and destroyed, a ransom note was found; in it demanded an exorbitant sum of money for the life of his missing wife and son. However, the note was old, so the victim suspects that his wife and son are already dead, so the police couldn’t link it anyone; no new bodies had been dregde from the shores, no suspects has been found so far and there are no video recordings of the night of the incident."
Constantine hummed as he skimmed the pages to quickly, uninterested “So, why are you asking me again? By the looks of it, isn’t this just an unsolved cold case?” John grunted as he handed the folder back, but Batman only hummed “If you look at the ends of the photo evidence you will see why I need your insight on this”
John skimmed at the pictures again before stopping short at the picture. The picture in question had been taken in the foyer of the mansion with the portrait of both wife and son on the floor, but the bizarre thing was, that there were covered in random runes that seemed to be eerily glowing a green hue; John's eyes widened as he stared at the peculiar sigil and runes adorning the photograph. As he studied it more intently, a chill ran down his back as he grumbled.
“I might need to call someone for a more insight on this one though” John hummed, taking out his phone to screen some of the pictures with the glowing sigils before sending it to whoever the magician was texting before starting to call someone.
Batman didn’t care and only grunted annoyed as he listened to a one-sided conversation for a minute until the blonde was done with it and stared to fumble with some folder paper that was in his side pocket “Who did you talk to just now, Constantine?” inquired Batman, walking closer to the Brit as he spoke some unknown incantations in midair, opening a portal “just a little friend who is good with this type of death magic”
And coming out of a green portal, floated a small child covered in a white hue. With a snowy whi\ite hair and green luminescent eyes, a planchette carried in his arms. Constantine closed the portal behind him; the small child-creature brightened up as he saw the magician and quickly floated closer, his NASA hoodie that was too big for his small body gently swayed in his hovering.
"Interesting," Batman muttered, eyeing the child with wariness.
The child smiled enthusiastically at the magician. Batman eyed the magician suspiciously as John ruffled the child hair before explaining, with a huff of fond exhaustion “this is child's name is Phantom, he’s what the occult like to refer as a psychopomp and clairvoyant who helps the souls to cross over and who might have ansers to this case”
"And how can he help us with it?"
The child's eyes glimmered as he spoke, a wispy voice exclaimed raising the planchette up "I help using this" said the small fey as it showed Bruce with pride it's planchette; then sided towards Constantine curiously “The Lady Gotham Knight smells like death, is he one?” the small creature asked, making the Brit splutter in a panic.
“h-he’s not the one that I asked look into!” hastily showing the picture to the kid with the strange sigils in it, the psychopomp grabbed the picture and put it under the planchette, floating down and putting the picture in the ground with the small wooden piece on top.
Placing both of his arms out and closing his eyes in deep concentration, his voice who was childish in nature just some seconds ago turned heavy and echoed as it started to recite ominously:
Ostende mihi quod olim absconditum fuit o mors, da mihi ducem! ubi latent umbrae et morantur; illumina vias meas ut eas
As soon the small psychopomp finished the strange incantation the small crystal in the planchette started to glow an obviously shade of toxic green for some seconds before fading away making the small child frown worriedly making both of the adults tense, Constantine moved first before tapping its shoulder cautiously "what did you manage to find?"
The small fey grumbled as he floated up, scrubbing his eyes tiredly "The missing are not in this place, they are lost and away"
