Someone said it was Cora Week? The prompts aren’t the best so I’m not linking to them (how the fck were those quotes sourced they’re horrid), but I was able to scrape some things together and work on my short form thanks to it.

“Remember, darling,” Mother said, “your greatest weapon is your smile.”

Rosi glanced around at the dingy shack before letting out a shaky sniffle. “What if there is nothing to smile about?”

“There always is,” she replied gently. Mother stroked his hair and bent to kiss his brow; she hadn’t been out of bed in days. “As long as you are alive, there is always something to smile about.”

“Even… even if we’re poor and hated?”

“The poor are always hated by someone, and often unjustly so.” Her eyes seemed so sad that it made her young son hurt. “Your father and I used to hate the poor.”

“You did…?”

“We did, before we realized that the poor had more to hate us for than we ever could falsely justify hating them.” She let out a cough and Rosi got her a drink of water—it was clean for once, and they saved it for her. “That is why we wanted you and Doffy to live as normal children, so that you know not to hate them and instead see them as equals.”

“…but they still hate us,” Rosi stated. “Why should someone smile if they are hated?”

“You should smile, my darling, because you are doing your best.” He poked his nose and he rubbed it as she giggled. “You are alive, you are doing your best to be good and kind, and because of that, you should smile. It is your greatest weapon and best defense.”

“How…?”

“Well, it’s like this,” she said, putting the empty glass down so her son could join her in bed. “When I was a girl, I was taught how to be a noble lady. It was about how to act, how to dress, how to speak, but most importantly: how to smile. You can smile at your loved ones and your enemies and it mean very different things. It can hide everything you want and tell everything you want, all without speaking a word.”

“So you can use it to speak silently?”

“Yes. You can protest, you can protect, you can love, you can mock, all with a smile.” She hugged him tight and tickled his sides, causing him to squirm. “Please always remember to smile, Rosi.”

“I shall, Mama,” the boy beamed. “I’ll help you get better and you’ll see! Doffy and I will find a place where we can all live happily! We can smile together and everything will be good!”

“I know you will,” she replied, her own smile wan. “Just keep finding reasons to smile, Rosi. You’re a smart boy, and I know you can do that.”

“Yes, Mama.” He hugged her tightly and she let silent tears fall from her eyes—hopefully her lessons would stick with him well after she was gone, since they were not sticking with her other son. “Mama…?”

“Yes, my dear?”

She paused and considered that before nodding—yes, this was something she could do.

he is also really formal when speaking with people (in general) (and it is probably because of his upbringing as well) and he is a genuinely nice person to meet

Okay, I need to get this off my chest and say that some people in this fandom needs a serious reality check.

You're not the savior you think you are. No one is going to give you a gold medal or relieve your consciousness, or pat you on the back. This isn't the way to validate your 'woke'ness or proving you're a good person. This shouldn't be the only accomplishment in your life.

You're lacking empathy and common sense for the sake of getting some brownie points on this stupid site and causing damage, thinking a half ass apology will fix it and go on with your day.

Are you suspecting something? Talk with that person first, then listen and try to understand. Find some solid, undeniable proof. Don't just make a callout post online and block the person or play the victim. Guess what? Sometimes you're in the wrong, or sometimes there is no one in the wrong to begin with, and it's just a difference of opinions (this goes for fandom's different ideas on characters/matters, not discriminatory subjects).

Some of you are going so far to the point of accusing people of color for something you don't even understand or have the right to speak to begin with, bandwagoning on the subject without making sure of it to save your faces, and then backtrack. You look like a clown and your unwillingness to understand cultural differences shows your entitlement.

I'm not saying people of color can't be racist/ableist/discriminatory in general, what I'm saying is know your place. Don't accuse people so easily. Think before you act. This place isn't yours only and you're not as pure as you want to be. The world doesn't revolve around you. Get a fucking grip.

Because my view is if they had been gracious towards the RF on Oprah, (i.e. we're beloved family members, but taking some time out of the spotlight. Then then come back and slowly work on projects in the US.) They could then come back for Trooping etc. Because the Princess Madeline managed to live in the US and keep her Royal image intact. (As far as I'm aware.)

I think that was the expectation in 2020. They would keep their UK charities and Frogmore and remain “beloved family members” attending family events but essentially living their own lives. Their LA lives would presumably retain a royalesque quality because they would go from their last appearances in the UK (which were pretty glam, thanks to Sarah Latham) to the Invictus Games then Trooping, polo season, and Balmoral. They were also going to do their own royalesque events, including a big fundraising tour for Sentebale and a charity concert for Invictus. That was the 2020 plan, I believe.

That’s similar to what Madeline did, although she was more low-key about it. It’s basically a royal life in the US. If the Harkles has stuck to well-known royal behaviors like the Christmas cards and birthday pictures, they could have successfully created an American Royal family. I think that’s what everyone expected them to do.

But Covid messed that up. They kept it going for a while bc everyone was doing Zoom charity calls and that kept the illusion of equivalency going, but the illusion finally shattered with the Oprah interview and then Philip’s funeral. It didn’t help that they were busy embracing James Corden and Ellen Degeneres and behaving like Hollywood clowns. Plus the British charities were sidelined and royalesque behaviors like Christmas cards and birthday pics were not consistently deployed. Their royal brand was steadily eroding.

At that point, they should have focused on their Hollywood projects and building their California brands, but they didn’t. They focused on lawsuits and family drama. They also did a bunch of paid awards, which weren’t really meaningful. The few projects they showcased felt very unprofessional. They didn’t have a real office, just those guesthouse desks. They were renting random locations and doing “coastal grandmother” lawn interviews with Gloria Steinem. Meghan was having fake tea parties with celebrities and Harry was juggling and the whole thing felt very bland and amateurish. They had a random NY tour for no reason (to read her book or something?) and jumped on activist bandwagons haphazardly (BLM, family leave, Iran, Ukraine, Uvalde, whatever…). It was weird.

That’s what I mean by “Casual California Royal.” Things like sending an olive cake to WCF and planting forget-me-nots at a random school. It all felt very whimsical and unprofessional. Worst of all, it did not feel purposeful or passionate.

They the documentary and the book came out and they royal brand just imploded. There’s nothing left now. All they can do is try to build up their celebrity image.

In her speech confirming that The Eras Tour will end in December, I hear a woman who has given her whole life to her career balancing friends, family, fans, and her romantic relationships. She is acknowledging both/and. That the tour was so fulfilling and magical to her AND it has mentally and physically pushed her in ways unimaginable to most human beings and she is exhausted.

I hear someone who has written songs about the plight of people pleasing. How being a people pleaser has allowed her to be so successful in making her fans feel seen and cared for. I hear a woman who is finally taking care of herself. She is acknowledging her tremendous accomplishment of hosting a global tour from March 2023-December 2024.

She sang The Great War and changed the line from *we* to “*I* survived the Great War. FINALLY recognizing herself and validating the effort she has put into this tour. She fought through romantic relationships ending and depression to show up for us!!! She has shown us love since her Debut album and she has given every part of herself on The Eras Tour!

I find it silly how people have been clowning for reputation tv for SO LONG. It’s never enough so some Reputation fans or fans who think it’s “unfair” to not see TTPD performed live.

However, that is what separates us true swifties from the bandwagon fans. We are here for whatever SHE choses to do in whatever way she wants to! She is communicating a message to people pleasers that it is important to acknowledge yourself and set boundaries for your own mental health and wellness!!

I just find the irony in the fact that the original Reputation album was written in response to a time where Taylor did not have many fans. I believe she is testing the waters, seeing which SWIFTIES stick around for her through whatever decisions she makes, and which ones just see her as their personal entertaining monkey. Reputation TV will be released when she wants it to and The Eras Tour like all great things has to come to an end.

Taylor is taking care of herself and setting boundaries and it is so admirable to see who sticks around when she choses to put herself first. Because real love is unconditional not transactional.

She has given so much of herself to us and we are so thankful but it is time for her to take care of herself🤍

I totally agree with you and the two anonymous users about your project blowing up overnight. As anon said, it could either turn you into a monster or your entitled fans could come for your throat if you're not doing what they want you to do, like Goose & Clown. You know what they say, it's better to have a small group of fans who understand how you work and respect your approach than a large audience who just want to hop on the bandwagon without really caring about you or your project.

I'd say you either die a Goose or live long enough to become a Viv, but Tracy's been going strong since 2006 and she's as cool as ever.
