edit: forgot to mention Glaze and Nightshade to alter/disrupt AI from taking your work into their machines. You can use these and post and it will apparently mess up the AI and it wont take your content into it's machine!

As of August 2023, Twitter’s ToS update:

“Twitter has the right to use any content that users post on its platform to train its AI models, and that users grant Twitter a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to do so.”

There isn’t much to say. They’re doing the same thing Instagram is doing (to my understanding) and we can’t even opt out.

They also take your data and content and sell it to AI models.

But you’re in luck!

It is very simply to opt out (Wow. Thank Gods)

Opt out on Desktop: click on your blog > blog settings > scroll til you see visibility options and it’ll be the last option to toggle

Out out of Mobile: click your blog > scroll then click visibility > toggle opt out option

I took time skim their ToS and under “How We Use Your Information” and towards the end of the long list: “To train and improve our technology, such as our machine learning models and algorithms.”

Regarding data collected; they will only not sell your data when “where restricted by applicable law”. That is not many countries. You can refuse/disable some cookies by going into settings > ads > turn off targeted ads.

I couldn’t find much in AI besides “our machine learning models” which I think is the same thing.

What to do?

In this age of the internet, it’s scary! But you have options and can pick which are best for you!

Accepting these platforms collection of not only your artwork, but your face! And not only your faces but the faces of those in your photos. Your friends and family. Some of those family members are children! Some of those faces are minors! I shudder to think what darker purposes those faces could be used for.

Opt out where you can! Be mindful and know the content you are posting is at risk of being loaded to AI if unable to opt out.

Fully delete (not archive) your content/accounts with these platforms. I know it takes up to 90 days for instagram to “delete” your information. And even keep it for “legal” purposes like legal prevention.

Use lesser known social media platforms! Some examples are; Signal, Mastodon, Diaspora, et. As well as art platforms: Artfol, Cara, ArtStation, etc.

The last drawing shows the same person as the title saying, ‘I am, by no means, a ToS autistic! So feel free to share any relatable information to these topics via reply or qrt!

A QUICK GUIDE TO AO3 CUSTOMIZATION FROM SOMEONE WHO KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT CODING

ft adding pink to everything and my secret to writing long comments

note: I originally posted this to twt but if that place burns in a fiery pit I spent too long on this for it to disappear, so I'm putting it here too :)

so many people know way more about this than I do, but this is a step-by-step walkthrough of the changes *I've* made, and hopefully it works as an introduction people can build from for whatever they'd like to do

to start, AO3 skins

site skins change how the AO3 website appears when logged in (even on mobile), mine is pink and blue!

I'll have my skin turned off throughout the post so the guides appear as they will for you

to create, edit, and view skins, go to the "skins" tab from the left-hand menu. you can also view public site skins from there or from the button in the preferences.

public site skins are made by other users. i would really encourage previewing and exploring them to become familiar with the possibilities (maybe you just want to use one of them and now you're done!)

to create your own skin

on the skins page, click "create site skin"

if you don't know CSS (same), use the wizard! clicking on the "?" will give more information about each option

I only use the colours section you'll see a link right there for hex codes I use pink as a header colour and bue for accent but lots of people change the background colour and that looks really cool!

The next step (optional!!!) is to add CSS from a public skin to your own. I use "ByLine" by Branch. this separates the tag categories and adds spacing to make them easier to read.

to see the CSS of a skin, click the title

copy all the text below the CSS heading

in the skin creator/editor press the custom CSS option and paste all the text into the CSS box

you can have both wizard and custom CSS settings, in mine you can see the header and accent colours as well as the CSS

level up: USERSCRIPTS

userscripts are small pieces of code that modify a website. for AO3, this may involve adding shortcuts and buttons or even advanced tagging functions (computer people, I'm so sorry if this is wrong, I'm trying). I use Greasy Fork and Tampermonkey.

This is how I write long and formatted comments!

Greasy Fork is an archive of userscripts and Tampermonkey is a browser extension and userscript manager. You don't need to use these two in particular. please use your common sense when downloading anything or adding permissions to your browser.

Install Tampermonkey on Chrome

there are TONS of user scripts for AO3. This is another good opportunity to explore all the possibilities. there are lots of more complicated options I haven't explored.

EDIT: if you use chrome you might need to turn on developer mode in your chrome extension manager - you can google "tampermonkey developer mode" and it should explain that :)

to install (once you have Tampermonkey installed):

open the script you want in Greasy Fork and press install

Tampermonkey will open, press install again

clicking the Tampermonkey extension will let you toggle scripts on and off, and opening the dashboard will let you view, edit, and delete scripts

i find i can only have a few turned on at a time before they cancel each other out, but that depends on which ones you're using and someone more savvy might be able to fix that

how to use the floaty review box - write more comments!

there will now be a "floaty review box" button at the top of the work, it will open a floating text box you can move anywhere on the page. highlighting any text and pressing the insert button will paste the text with italics into the box

anything you type in the review box will appear in your comment at the bottom of the page!

if you have also installed the comment formatting script, you'll be able to highlight any text in your comment and use the new buttons above the comment box to format it

thats all ive got! Hopefully this is a good starting point to get familiar with some of the terms and basics for skins and scripts <3

Every time someone gets angry that neurodivergent people headcanon Tommy as autistic (you don't want to know what people called me on twt for making autistic Tommy posts ...), they bring out all the stereotypical aspects of autism which Tommy apparently doesn't show in their opinion and say: "he's just rude / an asshole". That's so ironic. Because that's the thing: Autism is a spectrum and just because you experience some aspects of one part of this broad spectrum doesn't mean that YOU get to say what autism has to look like for every other autistic person. YOU don't define autism for me. A lot of people say Eddie is autistic. I don't see it. But I would never start to judge people who headcanon him as autistic. For me, personally, Tommy has more autistic traits I relate to. Because do you know who was also called "rude"? Me. I was also called "indifferent", "selfish", "egocentric", "weird", etc. because of my autistic traits. And come on. No one, really no one, has ever tried to excuse Tommy's past behaviour by headcanoning him as autistic. We just relate to some aspects of his personality. And we are allowed to do so. Neurodivergent people should never judge or shame fellow neurodivergent people for relating to a fictional character or headcanoning them as autistic. What harm does it do? (That's right. None. All of this is just part of your stupid ship war.) Autism is a spectrum. If you know an autistic person, you know ONE autistic person. So if they relate to someone you don't, there's going to be a reason for that ... Be mindful and manage to see past your hatred for the fictional character. These are some traits that can be part of the autism spectrum which I experience and recognise in Tommy: - fidgeting and stimming (Tommy fidgets a lot. He pushes his hands into the pockets of his jacket, wrings his hands, taps his fingers, crosses his arms over his chest, fidgets with his cap during the medal ceremony, fidgets with the tiny pumpkin, etc.) - flat expression, monotonous voice, dry humour - taking things literally (the deleted cake scene) - seems to have comfort food / drink / clothes

And for me, autistic Tommy is a perfect fit to adhd Buck. I see them as an audhd dynamic. Which, for me, is extra fun, because I'm autistic and my husband has adhd. :D

Okay I went full circle and went back to drawing fanart, but honestly I cannot be bothered to draw unless it's something I'm hyperfixating on and DE is giving me brain worms.

I've been SERIOUSLY struggling with letting myself be consumed with another piece of media (we will not be talking about my almost decade long jse hyperfix thank you) because most of my current friends have really cool interests and I felt silly being so fixated on videogames so I kinda just shut off everything and tried to """"intellectualize""" more hoping that it would also translate into original art, but all it did was give me an almost year long artblock and zero inspiration for anything and many many many projects that I never finished (see the shop, all the ocs I just forgot about etc etc etc...) - and I think that is exactly where I went wrong, most of my passion projects despite being aus or fan related content have never lacked of deep meaning. ( See the mhau, which btw I'm going to revist in some way – as I told to a friend I'm not letting a 4 years long project rest to rot lol. It's probably gonna get turned into another original story, unrelated to jse and the other admins of the au out of respect.)

I'm trying to take in what this year has been artistically for me because as for personal growth it's a can of worms I don't want to open.

I think taking a break from fanart and posting art to do more irl art stuff did do me good for a while, but then I carried it on for too long and it did the exact opposite.

As for numbers go, I've had most of my hit posts (mostly qsmp on twt and tumblr and some mouthwashing stuff), which was super great for a bit until it quickly burnt out.

The thing with running art pages (I've made and deleted at least 10 art accounts, yes that is another mistake) is that it's almost impossible to have fanart and originak content coexist with the same engagment.

Anyways, still I feel like I still improved artistically and I finally let go of ibis paint to use csp, which has been great.

- drop of riize twt followers from 809k to 730k & riize insta from 4.2m to 3.9m

- the petition has over 260k signatures

- we’ve gotten many big and well-known news sources writing articles on the boycott and the bullying situation with seunghan as well as regarding sm and their treatment of their artists

- tons of korean news sources have released articles on the situation as well as the boycott and updates on it!

- the naver article that covered seunghan’s departure was taken down!

- recent events of ot7 k-briize joining the effort (lots of have tweeted about the hope they have for this!) and organizing a protest outside of sm on friday, the 18th!

From my observation, the event is as goes :

X announced the plan that they'll use the images to train AI.

Artists mass delete their art and deactivate

November 15th came

The button to opt out showed up

I saw mass art deleting and account deactivation from the artists on Twt to Blue Sky. That did made me kinda doubt opening a twt account but I did anyway.

I do not know if this really is an actual opt out switch, but if it is, then that mass art-deleting and deactivation could be for naught. I don't know if I should laugh or cry tbh 😵‍💫 Like what the fuck is this turn of events?? Then again, this might also have something to do with Elon fuckery and people is just fed up with his shit..

Like, wherever big platforms we go to post art, I feel like in the end they'll fucking fell off and starts to train AI as well once they're big enough, they'll train AI. Don't forget that Instagram, Tumblr, and DeviantArt is doing this as well, even before X.

The formula is as goes -> Big social media platform trains AI. And then artists migrate to new platform. The place is now full of artists. Then that platform becomes big and announces that they'll train AI. And then artists migrate to a another new one. This shit is never-ending.

Our rights as an artist harmed by AI yes, but I don't fear AI that it'll replace me. I get it's annoying, but I'll stay in IG Tumblr and Twt because people use it.

It is trying times for artists, but until we have our legal creative protection by the government, I'm not backing down and deleting my shit and move around the internet from platform to platform because the trend says so/it's the right thing to do. It's exhausting 😵‍💫

i was hoping to make a post like this under happier circumstances, but here goes.

as some of you know, everything with the cancellation and renewal campaign has happened right on top of the worst part of my mom's cancer treatment (plus the show was cancelled on my actual birthday 💀). i won't go into details, but it's been tough. lots of ups and downs, mostly downs, luckily ending (for now) on as much of an up as circumstances allow. the whole thing has been weirdly tied to the cancellation for me, kind of amplifying every feeling. the grief got mixed up, and there was so much of it - mourning the loss of the kind of future i thought i'd have with my mother and the time we might not get, mourning the end of a show that means so much to me and is such a big part of my life. different types of grief, sure, and of different magnitudes, but in one big ugly swirl. i sort of had a breakdown right at the start of february, and it was because of news about my mom, but it morphed into my brain telling me everything i'd ever written was shit and wanting to delete it all. stuff like that, spilling over.

anyway. i was holding off on writing this post to see if the show got picked up by someone else. but i still want to say it. because what also spilled over was the support and community from this fandom, and being in this space (despite the rough times and high emotions) helped me through it, because of all of you here. whether we talk regularly, or you left a comforting reply or simply a like on one of my posts about having a hard time (i tried to keep them few), or wrote a nice comment on a fic, or said something funny or nice or insightful in the tags of a gifset, or was active here (or on twt) in any way, talking/sharing/creating stuff about the show - THANK YOU.

you all helped me through all the ups and downs, and i am so grateful. thank you for being here, listening, distracting, helping me feel some joy despite the horrors. i love you and i love this incredible show and all it has brought and will continue to bring and inspire, and although it should go without saying, i'm not going anywhere. just do me a favor and give yourself a big ol' hug from me, and know that you made a difference for some random guy on the internet (but in reality for many more, and for this fandom as a whole, just by being here and being you) 💕

been following this blog for quite a while now and just wanna say that ur art is just so damn amazing to look at even if i rly miss the daya when u make oddworld fanart too since its how i found abt this in the first place obvly since ur one of the few fanartists that i actually give a shit abt personally but at the same time i dont mind ur oc lore stuff either even if i dont pay too much attention to it since u have a lot of fun with that too for a good while to keep u busy until smth crazy happens in the next few years or whatever i just know it lol and also atp i highly reccomend switching over to bluesky sooner than later whenever u can since twt sucks ass and only cuz itll be an easier alternative to view ur art as well and a more comfortable option than that hellhole place too :3

thank you! i also quite like some of my old oddworld stuff - wow the strength i had to draw all that. I still love oddworld, I just think I drew everything I personally could for now. And yeah I know about bluesky, a lot of ppl were asking me about it. I don't plan to switch however and for several reasons. I don't have enough mental energy to make and keep another social media account and this also goes to a lot of reasons in my head which I'm not gonna cover here. And another reason is that on bluesky there's mostly artists that follow artists. And while it's really cool, twitter is more like a common ground when you want your art to reach a wider audience. That also includes a lot of morons sadly but that's what "block" button is for. Not a full defense, you can't block everyone, but we're on the internet. I choose to ignore fyp, post sth, like the posts from those few ppl i follow there and leave. Maybe I will delete my account there in near future but for now that's how it goes. I know twitter sucks but honestly other social medias are not much better for me. I still feel the best on tumblr, I've been here for years and I choose to close my eyes on bad things and updates here so that's my main social media for now. Internet is falling apart for a few years now and it's hard to find a good place to settle down. I could go on this topic about social medias forever but I'll stop now. To clarify, I'm not defending twitter.
