There's so very many fantastic mobile suits in The Witch from Mercury - it's hard to pick a single, all-around favorite. But the Zowort is definitely one of my favorites.
In typical HGWFM fashion - there's no polycaps in this box. It's all PS plastic, even the joints. I love this from a building standpoint... It feels very sturdy and tight... But I guess we'll see how these joints wear over time.
There's absolutely no stickers in this kit - color-correcting, foil, or otherwise. So I painted the camera thing with a chrome Gundam Marker to add some extra depth and reflectivity behind that visor.
I just love how militaristic this mobile suit looks. It's not some flashy hero suit - it's clearly a grunt suit. But unlike something like a Zaku, it looks like a simple piece of military hardware more than an anime villain. There's no spikes or anything. This chest section looks like it belongs on a helicopter or fighter jet.
One of my favorite things about The Witch from Mercury is how strong the visual design language is. Each manufacturer has a very clear aesthetic and a signature style. The Zowort looks basically nothing like the Pharact... But the arms and legs show their shared lineage. They're both clearly made by Peil Technologies.
After building that HGGTO Zaku II this kit feels very light on the accessories. Just a couple beam sabers and a weird-looking gun. That's it.
I like how mean, aggressive, and downright predatory this mobile suit looks. The head has an almost shark-like look to it.

HG 1/144 Zowort Heavy
Picked this kit up by chance when I saw in on sale. I really love the Zowort Heavy's design, it looks sleek and military, and reminds me of something from Armored Core.
It's a really large kit, with the torso section almost as large as half the Demi Trainer I built earlier, and it stands tall over the other non-protagonist mobile suits.
Like the similarly designed Gundam Pharact (here), it has beam sabers stowed beneath its forearms.
I've customised this kit with some leftover pieces from the Demi Trainer Expansion Set (the gatling beam gun and the combat knife) and I really like how cohesively the pieces fit in with this set.
I think this is a great kit for customisation, and might revisit it in the future for kitbashing.

It’s been a good while since I have posted. I have that said have not been completely idle. I have several kits to up load. Going start with the ‘F/D-20 Zowort Heavy’ from the Witch from Mercury. This unit is verdant from the F/D-19 Zowort and is a heavy combat model. Sporting improved flight stability and allows for heavier armaments. Mounted on its back it has the AMMs (anti-mobile missiles) missiles launcher which chains 4 missiles. It has a High-output beam cannon for medium to long range combat. In addition to the back mounted weapons it also has beam Vulcans on the head unit. Two beam sabers stored on its forearms and carries a long beam gun/grande launcher as part of its standard loadout.

Gundam Soundwave, I mean, Gundam Indra. More WfM fan AU ramblings under the cut! (it's 2:35 am, lord help me)
FP/A-67 Gundam Indra is a GUND format prototype MS developed by Peil Technologies and a step between company's Zowort and its later GUND MS, Pharact.
Built for testing the limits of the format and its enhanced pilots alike, it was developed with the Corax GUND Bit system. After Indra's development was discontinued, many of its parts - including the Corax - were implemented into its successor.
During its operation, it was piloted by all five EPs as a testing/training unit, but the permet link was optimized with N°3's brain implants in mind, who's its most frequent test pilot. It is, however, not 100% combat-ready.

I finally took pictures of my armored core mobile suit. The Zowort Heavy is very cool and I like it. I'm very partial to it because it was designed by Wataru Inata who had done work as a designer on Armored Core For answer (note he was part of a team of designers, and the main mechincal designer for the series was Shoji Kawamori).
Almost a full simple inner frame and fully color accurate accept for the missiles. It has most of the same joints as the Gundam Pharact which is fun, but the feet are simplified and it can't do that beam saber arm thing but I saw someone on reddit that cut a little part to make it do that. I also like the detail under the visor a lot, and its why I like the heads on the Jegan and Jesta (I don't usually like what they do under GM visors :/). I tried exchanging some parts with the Demi Garrison to decent success to try to give it an armored core look, and soon I want to get the 30 minute missions weapon accessories to give a more armored core look.
Soon there will be Armored Core 6 model kits from so I want to see if I can fit the pile bunker on this.

one of the final WFM kits that i'm actually planning on getting, Lfrith Ur! LOVE the minigun, it rules
yes, there's still the original demi trainer (and the recolored one on P-bandai right now) as well as a few other grunt kits, but I think i'm mostly set for this series*. Also I don't really have any more room in my display case, and will need to get another one!! fuck.
*Lfith Jiu and Lfrith Anavata are from a manga sidestory, and thus do not count.
#i might get the gunvolva but not the dilanza zowort or heindree. those are ugly#me: yeah i dont have any more room for gunpla#also me: has like 4 in my room in boxes as well as like 5 others on preorder#gunpla#gundam

Of course I had to build a Tickbalang to go along with my Zowort...
This is a relatively simple kit - kind of reminds me of the Guntank I built. There's several really big, chunky pieces that make up the bulk of this kit. But, unlike the Guntank, this thing feels very solid and it's got some fantastic little details and gimmicks.
I'd normally have some in-progress pictures of different sub-assemblies like arms or legs or whatever... But not with this build. There's not really a lot of sub-assemblies here.
So - this is what it looks like fully-assembled and without a lot of extra work. I used Gundam Markers for the lights/windows instead of the included foil stickers. And I did some panel-lining. But that's about it at this stage.
I didn't use any of the included foil stickers and picked up some G-Rework waterslide decals instead. But I only used about half of the decals... I didn't want the kit looking as busy as that example picture.
Getting the Zowort posed atop the Tickbalang was surprisingly tricky. I couldn't get the limbs to move/bend the way I wanted them to.
It's a very simple, solid kit. Like - the hull is just basically three pieces that snap together. But the end result is very satisfying. It looks good. And I like the little gimmicks like the landing gear and the handles and stuff.
And it obviously looks fantastic paired with the Zowort.
I'm thinking I'll probably want to build another of these... Either to pair with the Zowort heavy, or just to pose on its own.
Also - now I'm wanting to check out a Base Jabber kit, too. See if they're as good as this thing is.

While I have my own thoughts on the design from a personal taste perspective, I really do love the new Aerial design from a thematic perspective. Such a smart decision.
G-witch does a clever thing with it’s Mobile Suit designs where the actual military use suits are a lot more plain than the ones we’ve been seeing in the sanitized environment of duels where there’s no lives on the line. You compare Guel’s Dilanza and the military use Dilanza Sol we saw suppressing protestors and you know immediately which one is the mass produced military hardware.
No ornate fancy antenna, no superfluous wings out the back, no giant plume or vibrant colors. It’s a crude bulky war machine and I love it.
You can see this with a number of designs, like the Demi-Trainers vs the Demi-Garrison or the Zowort vs the Zowort Heavy
Even the Witches from Earth’s gundams, while distinct, are still a much more plain design than the flashier Aerial or Guel’s Dilanza or Michealis or Phract.
Which brings us back to Aerial, comparing the new designs side-by-side like the previous ones, it’s immediately obvious what they’re trying to convey with Aerial Rebuild
It follows the exact logic we’ve seen of Duel suits vs Military suits, much more muted colors, heavier armaments, bulkier design, etc etc, it’s even called to attention by Gundam Ur’s pilot Sophie who says Aerial has a scary face now. Aerial has a very unique design among Gundams and Aerial Rebuild is much more in line with conventional Gundam design.
It’s a wonderful visual change to go along with Suletta’s newfound willingness to turn a man into tomato paste.

so another model down from the Witch From Mercury line, the Zowort(light) variant this was a nice fun build the light green plastic has a nice soft mat finish and silky texture to the touch out of box was just nice. Detail wise the head has some great detail with the sensors being visible behind a clear orange part. I wanted them to stand out a bit more as they where molded into the green plastic and even with paneling they just kind of disappeared to I painted them gray, and threw some gold on the lenses so they would pop a bit, I don’t know we’ll I got them to show in the pictures. It does look much cooler in person. I want to get the heavy version next.
As far as posing goes. like all the other simply killer. My only complaint is the shoulders the ball and sockets where really tight on one side so much so it was stressing out the socket so bad i ended up sanding the ball down. Just to stop stretching out the socket just trying to pose it. For some photos.

NEW SD GUNDAM GAIDEN WORK HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED
So, first is the little intro about this work. It's a new entry banner called SD Gundam Gaiden NEO. (The Knight Gundam series is separated into different banners that each series falls under. The previous one was New Testament SD Gundam Gaiden.)
The motif for this series is the 2022 Gundam series Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury.
The title of this first entry is "The Forbidden Magic" and this first arc is "Shrine Maiden of the Dragon God".
I'll be translating stuff from the snippet on the P-Bandai page. (VPN needed to access it from outside Japan)
STORY
Many years ago, the Benerit Clan wiped out the Dragon Village. However, some villagers, mainly children, were able to flee into the deep forest. It has been said that mysterious magic since ancient times has been hidden there…
In the Benerit Clan, which destroyed the Dragon Village and built a city in the remaining wasteland, a struggle for supremacy was underway among the young chiefs of the three families. The control of that power spread to the surrounding area, and the people of the Dragon Village are once again discovered by the Benerit Clan.
Under orders from the head chief, Delling, the elites of the three families approached the silent forest…

Current Thoughts
I hope these aren't the final card artwork because it looks a bit bland with the default silver background. The ones with gradient look a bit better, but they are nowhere near as the fully rendered backgrounds in New Testament or previous works.
They do not give a gender, but I feel like Aerial is male here and idk how to feel about it. The card list does mention Ericht separately as a spirit, so that kind of alleviates my concerns. I just don't know how to feel about it.
The first chapter is Shrine Maiden of the Dragon God, which likely refers to Mio.
One of the spirits is Spirit Geist, which is one of Roux's main summoned Spirits in Kikoushin Densetsu, which makes me think this is in the Dabat Kingdom, but at the same time, I'm not sure since we've yet to learn where and when in the SD Gundam Gaiden timeline this takes place in.
It would make sense to have a story that takes place in that kingdom's area, since Seikihei Monogatari is the only one whose yet to have a post-Saddrac Knight Saga era work connected to it.

G Witch Onscreen Text: Episode 5
Part SEIS of my attempt to transcribe and discuss all the text that appears on screens and tablets in G Witch, because I got that dog in me! This is episode 5, "Reflection in an Icy Eye"
<< Episode 4, if you so dare.
Till and Suletta Boiled Eggs Indulgence.
Shall we begin?
TEXT: WINNER PILOTING DEPARTMENT KP003 ELAN CERES F/D-19 ZOWORT 7 WINS 0 LOSS 0 TIE
At the end of Elan's 3 v 1 duel, we get a look at the Zoworts ID and the fact that he has 7 wins and no losses.
When Bel is speaking to the Peil witches, we get another look at Aerial's profile. What's new here are the terms on the bottom right, those being
PMET LINK PMET SUBLINK BIOINFO LINK PILOT DATA LINK MS DATA LINK INTEGRATED PMET LINK
I could not tell you what any of these mean, BUT I have recorded them for convenience.
The text on Nuno's tablet is very difficult to make out, but we can for sure read CONTROL SYSTEM on the header at the top, so we know that's what he's looking at here. I'll give my best guess as to what the 3 sub-headers say, from top to bottom.
I-MSEACTRL-SYS I-MSEECTRL-SYS 5011-ONCODE
If my transcription is right, the first two are probably meant to be read as something like I - MOBILE SUIT [EA/EE] CONTROL SYSTEM
I'm not as confident in the bottom one though, i think i have ONCODE correctly but I'm not sure if the first half is really 5011, which would be Aerial's Permet Code ID. But it's the only interpretation that makes sense to me because I can only read it otherwise as SETH-ONCODE. And I have my doubts about that one.
Some broader looks at Aliya's divination table
Of course, everyone and their mother would tell you this, but Aliyah points to the stone that landed on the Roman Numeral for 12, wondering if it represents 'a brother' of Suletta's. This is foreshadowing the Eri reveal, as Aerial + the Eri clones that pilot each one of its GUND Bits adds up to 12, meaning Suletta has 12 sisters.
Of course, the stone in the middle represents her mother, and Aliyah comments that it's very big.
I can't help but wonder if Miorine is represented somewhere here as well?
This scene is where we finally get to see the title of the book Elan is reading. As I stated before, this book is The World as Will and Representation (Translated in the show proper as The World as Will and Idea) by Arthur Schopenhauer. The importance of this book to understanding Elan's character cannot be overstated, and it's worthy of its own post, but simplified as far down as possible (and also acknowledging that I have yet to read the essay myself, it's long...I'll get to it though, I promise...)
The two most essential ideas of this work in their relation to Elan are that:
All human suffering and conflict is a result of the "Will" that exists within us: An ever striving force that pushes us to pursue our innermost desires.
In order to reduce the inherent pain and suffering that comes with life's cruelty, one can minimize their desires, and deny the force of their will.
In simpler terms, if you never desire anything from your life, even the idea of living itself, you will never be made to suffer from the lack of it.
From the shows beginning, we can see how Elan completely embodies this philosophy. He denies love, he denies his emotions, he never acts of his own accord, only following the orders he's been given by Bel and the Peil witches.
But that changes when he meets Suletta, because Suletta awakens within him one of his deepest desires. To find someone who is like him, someone who understands him.
But when he realizes that Suletta isn't an Enhanced Person, that he's still completely alone, he can't handle it.
Because he allowed himself to want for something, he invited suffering back into his life when it was something he was not allowed to have.
And now that he's opened his heart to desire, it's not something that can be closed. For the rest of our time with him, we see how this incident with Suletta has broken the spell. When he duels Guel, he tortures him. Shaddiq repeatedly acknowledges that there's been something different about him ever since he was with Suletta.
In the multiple scenes when Elan sees the candle of the birthday cake when he closes his eyes, the flame represents how his will has been relit. It's the flame of his desire. And despite his continued insistence that it doesn't exist, that he still doesn't want anything, doesn't need anything, the flame only keeps growing.
It sparks up when Suletta sings the birthday song to him.
And it all comes to a head during their duel. He immediately starts listing off the things Suletta has that he doesn't. Friends, family, a past and future, even hope. And laments that it's just not fair, demands to know why she can't let him have one thing.
When he fully accepts himself, and remembers the person who celebrated his birthday, he realizes that it was wrong to assume that he had nothing, and to continue to believe that he could never have anything.
But, tragically, in fully accepting his desire, he also had no choice but to accept the suffering that comes with it. And, well.
Yknow.
Anyway in this scene we can see the path that he wants Suletta to take in the testing sector.
We can see that Lauda's Dilanza is registered as such in Asticassia, and its ID code is MD-003 1L. Despite being registered as such, both Elan and Rouji refer to it as "Regolith" in this duel.
This is the Pharact's navigation system. At the bottom, the warning says: ALERT: MALFUNCTION JOINT SENSOR: ACTIVE MINOR DAMAGE FROM [???] STATIC ELECTRICITY.
We can see that the Pharact is showing that the static electricity is damaging its joints. This is where Elan gets the idea of how to defeat Guel.
TEXT: (top to bottom) ALERT DMG CTRL-SYS ON
MD-R-0099[?] RIGHT LEG - [???] DAMAGE
MD-O HEAT AXE - RECOVERED
This shows up on the display when Guel is hit by the Pharact's stun beams for the first time. Though my transcription might not be fully accurate, we can at least glean from this that mobile suit components seem to have their own internal codes used by their various systems. That's cool!
When Guel is immobilized by the static electricity, the warning on his screen reads ANAMOLY DETECTION
Bonus: When Guel first makes it through the stun lasers and approaches Elan, you can actually see the monitor start writing out "TARGET LOCKED" before cutting to the next scene.
They really must have had a whole team of people working on these UI elements and they REALLY gave it their all!
Anyway, that's all!! Sorry that this one kinda took a detour down the Elan train for a bit there! I always get carried away with these things...
Uhh as a reward.... hmm...
One time I saw Shaddiq referred to as "Malibu Sephiroth" and I've never been able to forget it. It's so real. God Damnit.
