If Earthian oppression is so bad, why is the Heindree Sturm so cool?

Oh yeah I forgot to show you all the absolutely massive gunpla order that came in the other day. Almost done with collecting all of the WFM kits!

Heindree Sturm!
This one was fun build, done in one sitting. I managed to use all the weapons on this one, AND the beam saber stays in the hand, so kudos to that.
Also, the price for "Head with the least amount of pieces" goes to this guy as well - I think.
I like it very much. I love the 'helmet'.

Got back into gunpla building with the Heindree Sturm this week. This was a solid build. The shoulder cannon is pretty cool. And the articulation on this one is pretty nice

Just because a new Mobile Suit exceeds Earth House's budget, that doesn't mean they can't acquire one through... alternative means.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kit is HG Heindree Sturm, hand painted with the following colours:
Vallejo 72.027 Scurvy Green
Vallejo 72.025 Foul Green
Scalecolor Mojave White
Vallejo 71.070 Signal Red mixed with a drop of 71.071 Arctic Blue for the red highlights

The HG Witch From Mercury line continues!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've unfortunately been sitting on this for a while now with life getting in the way but I'm back with more p-bandai exclusive Witch From Mercury high grades, this time it's the pair from the Prologue, the Gundam Lfrith Pre-Production and it's witch-hunting counterpart the Heingra!
Obviously there's a lot of shared parts with their retail versions but the Pre-Production definitely gets more of the love here. Quite a few new parts go into just the backpack and other than the lights for the Gund-Bits (which there are a lot of poorly fitting stickers for) it is perfectly color separated and opens as it does in the show. Shout-out to them actually making new molds to get the yellow in the chest part separated too. Beyond that you get it's very cool beam rifle, a few activated Gund-Bits and the same great articulation as the retail kit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Heingra is bit more boring by comparison, with it doing it's best GM impression. The Grassley suits are probably my favorite grunts from the show though so I'm a fan of it anyway. It's got another great beam rifle and a bigger shield than it's later variant, the Heindree Sturm. Speaking of, you do get nearly the full loadout from the Sturm as extra parts, only missing a part to complete it's shield, so if you want to you can give the Heingra a mix of equipment.
Again two great kits from this line which, at the moment of writing, are both available to buy right now on p-bandai, and they're in-stock (which means they will ship out immediately)! Well in the US at least, but still great news for anyone looking to get either one of these kits.
I do have one more kit to show just below the cut if you're interested...
Tumblr media
It's the Gundnode! And I got two of them, how else could I create my own little data storm? Well in reality I think you would need like 300 plus of them to match the amount that created the storm towards the end of the show but 1. I do not have that kind of money and 2. they've only had two runs of it on p-bandai so far with a max of six I could have at this point. And yes it is another p-bandai exclusive.
Despite that fact it's an amazing kit, really nailing another one of my favorite designs from the show. This is very much a flying suit so there's not many ground poses it can do well, with that in mind though it's articulation is in line with the other WFM kits, which means it's great and really helps it shine in the air (also it does come with a stand).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The sticker sheet is a decent size to include the full range of Permet Scores to pick from, I have the deactivated black ones on here but you can also use Red (score 2+) or Blue (score 6+). Not too many accessories here, some long and short beam blade effects and again another great beam rifle (with an extra gimmick I didn't know it had), but the star of the show is the effect parts to make the connected data storm. Even with just two it takes up a good amount of airspace, any more than that and I wouldn't know where or how to display them so for now I'm okay with just the two.
With that I'm up to seven new WFM kits that are p-bandai exclusive, and with the Beguir-Beu Torche (a variant from the Vanadis Heart manga) coming soon along with the recently announced (and currently up for preorder on p-bandai) Desultor, we may end up with nearly all of the suits from the show getting a kit. Which is great! At the cost of them being p-bandai releases, which is not. Unfortunately I don't see that changing any time soon. Either way I'm happy we're getting these as kits at all.
Next time I'll have my most recent painted project, and it'll hopefully not take as long to post about. Until then, I hope you enjoy! ✌🏼

A mecha detail I really love about Gundam: The Witch from Mercury
I’m sure multiple people have pointed this out already but I’ll say it again. You’ll notice the mecha in the Asticassia school tend to have more colorful paint jobs, fancy antennae/horns, and put a lot of focus on melee combat, which all help to give their mobile suits a noble or knightly air.
But outside, like on Earth or on Plant Quetta, the exact same models of mecha we see in the school are also being used by the military and corporate security forces, except they are up-armored, painted in dark or drab colors, have no fancy horns or embellishments (they’ll have extra optics/sensors/armor instead), and are bristling with long-range weaponry like extra beam cannons or rocket launchers. They are just built purely for war.
It’s such a great detail that not only makes the world feel more realistic but also accentuates just how detached from reality the school has been.
(compare the Demi Trainer, Dilanza, Heindree, and Zowort to the Demi Garrison, Dilanza Sol, Heindree Sturm, and Zowort Heavy to see what I mean)

Man I watched and loved G Witch, but every time I see a gunpla for it I can only think of how much the non-main mobile suits did not leave any impression on me outside of the two suits used by the Earthians when Guel was on the planet. Like, these designs are sick as hell, I would have loved to see more of the Heindrees or Heindree Sturms, they're so fucking cool! If there is any evidence the show needed more episodes, it is just so I could have actually seen more mobile suits often enough for them to leave a bigger impression cause god damn are they good. I can't even find clips from the show easily it's all gunpla in the youtube search.

CFP-013 Heindree Sturm
Building this grunt was a tiny bit boring, it's very simple and easy compred to the hero and villain suits like Schwarzette and Aerial, but that long beam saber grip and overall design is really fun to pose.

I keep track of the dates I finish building each of my gunpla, but did you know there's a way to see the month and year the kit was made, too?
Tumblr media
This is one of the runners from my heindree sturm's kit. Now, since this kit has only really been released once because it's so new, it's pretty easy to just look up the date. But these dials can tell us anyway!
The left dial is the month: 1-9 for january through september, and then X, Y, and Z for october, november, and december. Other kits may use other letters, but that tells us this was made in May.
The right dial and surrounding info is the year. The decade of the original printing of the kit is represented by the two numbers in the corner, and the dial tells us which year in that decade we're looking at. May 2023 in this case, but again, we knew that already.
As for my gouf:
Tumblr media
This version of the HGUC gouf kit was originally made in 2014, as we can tell by the copyright year beside bandai's logo, and the 10 next to the year dial. But this wasn't printed in 2012, so what gives?
Tumblr media
See that little triangle? That means we add a decade to the numbers in the bottom left: this kit was printed in june 2022!
And finally, we have my z'gok:
Tumblr media
This kit was originally run in 1999! I have friends younger than the original run of the HGUC z'gok. This is, however, the reprint from february of last year. There are three triangle notches, taking us from the 90's to the 2020's. As a fun note, this kit uses O, N, and D for the last three months of the year, instead of X, Y, and Z.
And while this info isn't terribly useful most of the time, it IS fun! And now you know.

G-Witch was an experience
Finally finished watching the show, half in Japanese with English subs and half in English dubs and I liked both, dubs was easier for me to follow as I could watch the show and understand it faster than trying to read while watching the scenes. The animations looked all pretty nice to me, the mecha designs were awesome, especially my beloved Lfrith Ur, Heindree Sturm and Darilbalde, characters were nice and distinct for the most part. Overall great looks, for me, someone who hasn't watched many anime recently. The characters themselves, tho, now that is a very different story. I don't think I really like any of them, and the only one I could identfy with would be the Earthians. Why would I side with terrorists? Because I think the entire world building is pretty dystopian! For one we have mega corporations ruling space. They have their own military forces and mega weapons, and seem to be able to declare war on one another and use Earth as battle ground? Even if I got that last part wrong, it's still terrifying, actual combat. Which brings me to the next terrible point, people are literal resources without any say or want! Who cares about actual political or financial skills? All you need is pilot a mobile suit and you are golden as partner! Just be a good spouse and protect Miorine, that's all you need to do. Nah, don't worry about blood lines, those are really not important, just be strong and able to fight. At least he show ends on a good note, with the big/important mega corporations being disolved and sold to Earthian companies. Would I recommend it? Yeah, I would, and did. Fun show with some strange main themes, but not bad. 7.5/10
