Where are all those liberals with the Doomsday Clock and anti war sentiment. If 911 taught us nothing else it taught us that ANYTHING can happen. Heaven help us all.
Russia has allegedly launched an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) at a Ukrainian city for the first time, an expensive but potentially potent reminder by the Kremlin that it has a large reserve of nuclear-capable weapons which can strike form thousands of miles away.
The central-Ukrainian city of Dnipro was struck by a single ICBM missile in the early hours of Thursday morning Ukraine claims, part of a broader air raid that state media said also saw one air-launched ballistic missile and seven air-launched cruise missiles fired at the city. The Ukrainian government has not made an official statement on casualties in the “massive attack” but said they managed to shoot down six of the cruise missiles in-flight.
The launch of an ICBM is claimed by Ukraine’s air force to have come from the Astrakhan Oblast, which borders the Caspian Sea. The launch has not been corroborated by Western states observing the conflict, the United Kingdom has called it unconfirmed, for instance. Russia has yet to confirm or deny an conventional explosive armed but nuclear-capable ICBM launch, apparently the latest sabre-rattling move by the state as it bids to discourage further Western involvement in Ukraine.
While claiming there was “no significant damage” caused, nevertheless Ukraine also stated a city medical facility and an industrial area were hit. Sergiy Lysak, the head of the regional administration said in a statement that: “Since early morning, the aggressor has massively attacked the region. Information about the consequences is being clarified. At the moment, it is known about damage to an industrial enterprise in Dnipro. There were also two fires in the city.”
Ukraine called the attack an attempt to damage the city’s “critical infrastructure” . Meanwhile, just 70 miles away a power interconnector for the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant was cut in an air strike. This left the plant with just one backup power supply.
A loss of external power can be catastrophic for a nuclear plant because the control systems that govern the reaction process — and which can crash-stop it in an emergency — cannot safely rely on the power the plant itself produces and need redundancy. The Zaporizhzhia plant has been occupied by Russian forces for several years and is presently run by Russian nuclear company Rosatom, one of the few Russian businesses that has been untouched by Western sanctions as Russia is a massive global player in the supply of Uranium, needed by nuclear power plants everywhere.
Tumblr media
ussia has stated that it considers precision attacks against military or political targets inside the Russian Federation an act of war by the states providing the weapons, even if they are launched by a third party. How far Russia is willing to take this nuclear sabre-rattling is unclear: at several points through this conflict the Kremlin has expressed its displeasure at Western nations involving themselves in what it clearly considers a private war but never followed through with threats on issues like the supply of tanks, earlier missiles, and jet fighters.
Yet long-range missile strikes inside Russia may be taken a lot more seriously inside the Kremlin. Talks about the policy of whether to give Ukraine permission to engage in such attacks against their invader have gone back months, and key moments have been met with Russian reminders that they ultimately hold a trump card against attempts to bring down the Putin state.
When Zelensky was in Washington in September to ask for long-range strikes, Russia appeared to respond by saying it was reviving its nuclear doctrine to create a state of co-responsibility for attacks by American-backed states. In October Russia issued what very much looked like a reminder of what it holds in reserve and had never yet deployed in anger, a considerable armoury of Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles, conducting continent-spanning test-firings.
A land-launch of a Yars ICBM from Plesetsk to Archangesk (pictured, top) demonstrated a range of 3,500 miles, with Russia publishing quantities of footage showing the launch of several nuclear-capable missiles. The Yars is Russia’s newest ICBM, part of the development of their first such new weapon since the end of the Cold War, with the 3,500 mile flight only around half of its claimed maximum range, designed to strike deep into the United States if required.
Then earlier this week, as the U.S. was stated to have signed off on strikes on the Russian interior with American-made missiles in Ukrainian hands, Vladimir Putin signed off on that new nuclear doctrine, a further message to the West.
Tumblr media
While today’s alleged launch and strike serves a warfare rather than training purpose, the use of an ICBM to deliver a conventional warhead rather than a considerably cheaper and less sophisticated tactical ballistic or cruise missile is a pointed further message from Russia to the West.
Poland, one of the European states closest to the fighting and perhaps taking the most alarmist state about Russian territorial ambitions — it is practically a matter of faith in Polish defence circles that Moscow has designs on Poland, should it succeed in Ukraine — appears to have reacted to the Thursday morning launch, scrambling fighters and and land-based defence systems.
A statement from the Polish Air Force, which operates F-16 jets, said Thursday: “Attention, due to another attack by the Russian Federation, which is carrying out strikes on objects located, among others, in western Ukraine, Polish and allied aircraft have begun operating in our airspace… the Operational Commander of the RSZ activated all available forces and resources at his disposal, the on-duty fighter pairs were scrambled, and the ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems reached the highest state of readiness.”

How ironic it would be for America to be destroyed fighting for some 3rd World Shidt Hole that up until 10 minutes ago was famous only for its lack of real democracy and corruption.

Ukrainians are a mere cheap commodity to these savages
"It is extremely good value for money... Almost half of Russia's pre-war military equipment has been destroyed without the loss of a single American life. This is an investment in the United States security"

I bet there's an awful lot of people in Ukraine right now that wish their leaders had taken the peace deal that was on the table two years ago.
But Zelensky wanted to burn Donetsk to the ground, and Boris Johnson offered him a blank NATO check to do it with - and here we are.⬇️

COMMENT: Mr. Armstrong, You are the only source willing to tell the truth about our country. You are correct. I do not know anyone who would vote for Zelenskyy. He does not represent the people of Ukraine.
anonymous
REPLY: Russia has absolutely no interest in invading Europe. The Russian people just want to get along with life and take care of their families like Americans and Europeans. It is always these people in positions of power who want war. Zelensky has also been told by Trump that there should be elections in Ukraine. He knows he has betrayed his own country. This latest statement was probably written for him by the Neocons and their retirement home, NATO. CNBC is just a mouthpiece for the Neocons. They have become just a propaganda machine, and they are a disgusting organization that borders on treason.
Trump is well aware that Zelensky does not represent the people of Ukraine. Every Ukrainian I have spoken to wants peace, which Zelensky ran on – promising peace. He then sold his country to the Neocons for a handful of silver. CNN wrote when he took office in 2019:
Ukraine has been locked in a proxy war with Russia for five years, and the conflict has claimed around 13,000 lives in the country’s east.
Zelensky’s landslide victory does give him the mandate. But beyond offering Ukrainians an outlet for a protest vote, it’s not yet clear what policies he will pursue.
Zelensky has taken that 13,000 dead and improved with the real number of deaths from UKRAINIAN sources is 1.1 million, I am told, and AGAIN, this comes from Ukraine – not Russia! In fact, a local TV news operation reported the real number, and Zelensky again made them take it down as he did with the head of the EU. They suddenly reported it was a typo. The Neocons are completely destroying Ukraine, and they have ZERO regard for Ukrainian lives as they will with Americans or Europeans.

Within just three months of the beginning of this civil war under Zelensky, I said that 100,000 Ukrainians had died once Zelensky took office. I got the hate mail claiming that it was Russian propaganda from the typical brainwashed people who believe what the press tells them. Then Ursula, putting out the BS over Bucha, stated that the same number was 100,000, and Zelensky sought to cover up what was taking place and told her she had to remove that, for that number was “classified,” so it was changed. Here are both versions of her speech.

Someone in Donald Trump’s inner circle needs to take him to one side and tell him this home truth: as president-elect, he must immediately explain his plan to end the war in Ukraine.
Trump, still celebrating his historic victory, will naturally be thinking about his domestic agenda. But he should understand that the longer that he dithers, the more strategic advantages he hands to Russia—which is now a firm U.S. adversary.
Ideally, his plan should not involve Ukraine giving up territory that has been captured by Russia over the course of the war. Nor should it be based on empty promises from Russian President Vladimir Putin, which he has a history of making.
The need for clarity on the ground in Ukraine is obvious. NATO sources and Western security officials almost universally agree that Ukraine is slowly losing the war and that this winter will be critical. Trump’s victory in the United States has only heightened these concerns, not least because he has a history of making tepid statements about Ukraine and the war.
Trump has previously said that Ukraine should have ceded territory to Russia ahead of the invasion, claiming that even “the worst deal would’ve been better than what we have now.” He also accused Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, of making “little nasty aspersions toward your favorite president, me.”
The situation in much of Ukraine is already grave.
“Russia destroyed a large part of the country’s energy system, so millions of Ukrainians may find themselves in their homes without heating, electricity, and water during the winter,” said Oleksandra Matviichuk, a Ukrainian lawyer and Nobel Peace Prize laureate. “Getting the appropriate number of systems and missiles is critical to close the sky and protect peaceful cities and civilians from this critical scenario.”
The destruction of infrastructure is seen by Ukrainians as a Russian strategy to make this winter as insufferable as possible, particularly in the east. In the south, sources on the ground say that Russian attacks on ports are also part of an effort to prevent supplies from reaching Ukrainian citizens.
“The Russian strategy in the east seems to be to freeze people out and heavily bomb their cities and towns; the strategy in the south seems to be to manipulate a key international artery for food,” said Michael Bociurkiw, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, who spoke with Foreign Policy from Ukraine.
Bociurkiw believes that Russia has been taking advantage of the vacuum created by the U.S. election and uncertainty about whether Washington’s support will survive a change of administration.
“It’s been really disheartening to see the lack of spine in Washington and elsewhere,” he said. “Autocrats take advantage of blurred lines. Putin is prodding and testing for soft tissue. The inaction of the West, withholding permission for Ukraine to strike inside Russia at launch pads, has handed a major advantage to Russia.”
Many Western allies, including the United States, have set implicit or explicit limits on how much they’re willing to give to Ukraine—and what kind of weapons that includes. Theories as to why range from fatigue to a belief that the conflict will not spill outside Ukrainian and Russian borders.
But there are widespread fears among experts that the prospect of victory will only embolden Putin. Russian territorial gains will bring the Kremlin ever closer to NATO borders—and potentially supply resources for more conflict. Many believe that this logic still applies in the event of a peace deal that allows Russia to retain the territory that it has invaded.
“If there’s a cease-fire that effectively allows Russia to hold that territory, it will allow Russia to consolidate its position, reinforcing its military presence,” said Ruth Deyermond, a professor with the Department of War Studies at King’s College London. “With no war to fight, it would also be able to develop its military presence in Belarus, threatening NATO members in the Baltic region. And an emboldened Russia would be likely to escalate its attacks on European critical infrastructure and increase its interference in many NATO states, including the U.S.,” she added.
Peter Dickinson wrote for the Atlantic Council earlier this year that “it should be painfully apparent that anywhere Putin regards as ‘historical Russia’ is potentially at risk … This would create an array of possible targets for Russian aggression including Finland, Poland, the Baltic states, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Alaska, and the whole of Central Asia.”
Why a full or partial Russian victory is such a concern for Europe is easy to understand. It must now be explained to Trump why it is also critical to the United States. An ocean and a continent might separate Washington, D.C., and Moscow, but borders are not barriers to modern warfare.
While Zelensky continues to ask, reasonably, for more support in defeating Russia, it is also true that Washington has already spent a lot of political capital and money on this war.
The first obvious loss to the United States would be in face, Deyermond said.
“Ukraine losing would look to the rest of the world as if the U.S. was losing to Russia—or to a coalition of Russia, Iran, and North Korea. Any scaling back of U.S. support would also look as if the U.S. had been forced to retreat by Russia,” she said. “That would obviously be very damaging to U.S. credibility. For years, Putin has been talking about the weakness of the West, by which he mostly means the U.S.”
That might seem opaque to people sitting on the other side of the Atlantic, but it could have very real consequences for the United States and its global interests.
“First, it sends a clear message to other adversaries that you can mess around with America and get away with it,” said Bociurkiw, the Atlantic Council fellow. “Second, wars are becoming so much more about technology and lone actors that don’t respect borders. Fake news dropped by Russia in America can lead to violence like in Charlottesville. Russia is upping its biohazard capability, which is easily exportable.”
No one knows whether Trump has actually paid any attention to what is happening in Ukraine or what he thinks about Putin in 2024. He has repeatedly called Putin a “genius” during the conflict. Recently, while standing next to Zelensky, he said that “we have a very good relationship, and I also have a very good relationship … with President Putin,” before adding, “I think if we win [the election], we’re going to get it [the war] resolved very quickly.”
It’s not clear that Trump fully comprehends how grave the situation is in Ukraine, nor how serious the consequences would be for Washington and its allies. It’s not even clear that he particularly cares or believes that hose consequences really exist. And many of his far-right allies see Putin and his allies, such as Hungary’s Viktor Orban, as a role model for the kind of patriarchal nationalist state they want.
Trump’s positions can also be shifting and uncertain. Perhaps he has access to some inner information that the rest of us lack. But on the likelihood that Trump is merely spitballing, someone in his inner circle needs to grab him right now and hammer home the message: The United States needs Ukraine to win.

How do we end the Ukrainian war?
How do we end the Ukrainian war? Here's my answer! First, provide the necessary weapons in the necessary quantities. Then send troops, of course in the necessary numbers, no, even more. Invade Russia and take control of Moskoa, and do so in a short time. The reason is to not give them time to use nuclear weapons! Capture Putin and his executives and abolish Russia's military industry, military, aviation industry, etc. Completely dismantle the KGB, parliament, and political structure. Well, it can't be helped that we will have to continue the occupation for 10 to 20 years. It is clear that we need to invade Russia to end it fairly. It should be done as limitedly as possible! And the biggest obstacle is that Western countries are not (at all) willing to do so. They clearly have no intention of destroying Russia! Trump says he can end it within 24 hours, but he's saying pretty much the same thing as Putin. In short, give up the territory that was taken, admit defeat, or in other words, give in! Both Trump and Putin are saying so.
Do you think the Ukrainian people would accept that?
It seems that Western countries and NATO are getting tired of this ("war game") for a while. That's why they are pressuring President Zelensky to ceasefire and end the war.
How do you think we can end this war? And what is needed to end it?
Please think carefully.
I'll talk a little about the Self-Defense Forces. The Self-Defense Forces currently only have a shield, but they will eventually lose if they just defend. That's why the government is trying to give them a blade called enemy base counterattack capability, but that's not enough.
In the end, they will have no choice but to send ground troops to enemy territory. The reason is very simple: even if you block the movement of the poisonous snake, it will eventually escape and attack again. Therefore, they will eventually be forced into a situation where they have no choice but to crush the head of the poisonous snake. President Zelensky is currently calling for the lifting of the shackles of restrictions on the use of donated weapons; in fact, he has been calling for this for a long time. The reason is that Ukraine currently has only a shield. Ukraine needs a blade that can cut deep into enemy territory where the weak points are lurking. The problem is that no one wants to hand over that blade. Don't let them win, but don't let them lose. In other words, don't let them live, but don't kill them. The West has been playing this "game" for so long that it seems they are finally getting tired of it.

At least Trump even that I hate him, will stop send money to that clown and now dictador of Zelensky and his Azov n*zi buddies
There's a lot to unpack here, but I will, because it's just plain wrong.
Zelensky is not a dictator, Ukrainians elected him in a democratic election. He has been president for longer than he was supposed to, because there can be no new election at the moment. Why? Because part of the country is occupied and the citizens that live in the occupied areas could not participate in an election. Other regions of the country may also be occupied or freed, as the conflict isn't frozen, so organizing a free and democratic election is impossible. Organizing election without some territories would mean acceptance that they are not part of the country anymore, which the Ukrainians do not want. Even during the war Ukraine enjoys free press, which would not be the case in a dictatorship.
Zelensky is also not a clown. While his politics might be something you disagree with, but the man is doing so much for his country, and even if he makes mistakes, that does not make him a clown. He could have run away, you know, Biden offered him safe passage from Kyiv when the invasion started, but he refused. That's not a clown in my book.
It is true that Azov was and possibly still is nazi (although there are very few original members remaining, so who knows). Some people say that "not all Azov" or something, but being nazi in Azov was mainstream in 2022. I don't think Zelensky, who is Jewish, liked Azov very much before the war. However, since the war is an existential threat to Ukraine, nobody has the luxury to pick and choose, who can defend the country. You'd be surprised to know, that in Ukraine, communists, socialists, centrists, nazis and even anarchists work together to defend their country. Because they have no other choice, because 900 nazis in the defense force doesn't matter if your country is being destroyed, your people killed and your history erased. However, it doesn't mean that Zelensky or the vast majority of Ukrainians are in favor of nazis.

Russian Terrorist Attack
The Historic Transfiguration Cathedral in Ukraine Destroyed in Russian Strikes
Russian missiles badly damaged dozens of Ukrainian architectural landmarks, including a historic Orthodox cathedral in the southern port city of Odesa, sparking outrage and prompting President Volodymyr Zelensky to vow retaliation.
The strikes – the latest in a wave of attacks on Odesa – killed at least one person and injured several others, Ukrainian officials said. At least 25 architectural monuments were destroyed, a regional military official said.
“Russians deliberately aimed their missiles at the historic city center of Odesa, which is under the UNESCO protection. Everything that was built with hard work by great architects is now being destroyed by cynical inhumans,” Oleh Kiper said.
The Transfiguration Cathedral is Odesa’s largest church building. It was consecrated in 1809, destroyed during the Soviet era in 1936 before being rebuilt when Ukraine became an independent nation.
