All of my 2023 Zelda art!...there's...not a lot. I'm afraid my brain has been taken over by Bedi and will be that way for the future...heck, I didn't even draw single Link illustration this year...
But while I don't make much Zelda content anymore, I did really like the ones I made this year, especially Yona, Oshus and Vaati. While the stuff I drew for my Phantom Hourglass series mostly turned out rough (except for Oshus, which exceeded my expectations) I'm still happy I was able to draw for what I think is a very underrated entry to the series (and one I dearly love to replay!)
Yona is just dear to me, so I'm glad I was able to draw her and I'm really happy with it, too.
Vaati, we all know, is our glorious edgelord pretty boy, haha, but while I don't draw him as much anymore, the way I drew his profile is my best yet,
I don't promise to make more Zelda next year, I just don't see it happening. I draw art for my own comfort, and currently the source of my comfort is something else. That being said, thank you still for the support and love you've given to any of these, it means a lot to me!

The Fierce Deity, being the blacksmith of the Gods, forged not only his great sword, Demise's Broadsword and the Goddess Sword, he also forged the Great Fairy Sword, Lokomo Sword, Koholint Sword, Magical Sword and he taught the Picori and Zauz how to forge magic imbued weapons. The Sword of the Six Sages was an attempt to replicate The Fierce Deity's work.

Idk if I shared that first drawing cuz I drew it and hated it so much and I got depressed and I never shared it but it’s actually not that bad lol. Also a meme with how weird Leaf is (apparently he’s a male?? And I didn’t actually know that? It doesn’t affect his design too much tho male fairies wear little dresses too lol)

The Menace is back with a Self-Aware ask and your weekly words. So here we go with the Self-Aware!
So I think about a Self-Aware Wind and Spirit would be a good idea. You ask who Spirits is? Well the Link from Spirit Tracks because I'm sure he is a reincarnation of Wind as there were things that wouldn't make sense if he was the same. Niko is old but Spirit isn't, Zelda and Spirit don't recognise each other, Spirit doesn't have a sister or a grandma only old man Niko and Niko tells him the story of Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass.
I believe that Wind tries to be sneaky like when Reader looks away he turns his head towards them. Reader also catched him a few times but just thought their eyes were playing tricks on them same with Spirit. But I think it would be interesting when both of them break out at the same time.
Like the scenario is like that. Reader plays Phantom Hourglass on their DS and their little/older sibling comes to them as they are stuck somewhere in Spirit Tracks and it was Reader's game after all, they don't know that Spirit planned it. So Reader just say leave it with them and put their DS down to look at the problem. Only to notice that it seems as there isn't one, Link just runs around the overworld. So Reader thinks it's a glitch and runs around with Spirit to find a next town, they are really far away if you don't use the train. So Wind gets jealous and looks for methods to get their attention. How? He runs out of the safety zone from Bellum's temple and has a monster running after his life. So if Reader plays with sound on they immediately switch DSs to save Wind. And these two do that the whole time. Oh, there is the train geek? Sorry Spirit, but Wind just fell down somewhere and Reader has to go the whole way back so they don't lose progress and heal him. Oh, Wind has a puzzle that Reader tries to solve? Sorry Wind, but Spirit just rolled against a tree with a bees/horns nest, Reader has to save him. Oh, Spirit sees and Overworld Boss and it does nothing and Reader wants to take pictures of it T posing?! Sorry Spirit, But Wind needs their help as he lost all of the ore for smith Zauz and now has to collect them again!! Oh, Wind just got a heart container after he defeated a boss?! Well Sorry Wind But Spirits RUNS ON WATER! OH LOOK WIND FELL DOWN FROM THE BOAT AND NEEDS TO BE SAVED!! SORRY SPIRIT, BUT YOUR JESUS JOURNEY HAS TO BE CUT SHORT!! OH READER FINALLY FOUNDS THE TRAIN?! WELL EXCUUUSEE ME SPIRIT BUT WIND RAN INTO FREAKING BELLUM IN THE OVERWORLD!!! OH...
And so on. These two will go into extreme lengths to get Readers attention on one of them. So they will probably break out as Reader didn't fold any of the two DS to help their parents who called them. But at first the two will fight. Obviously they love Wind more they played his games a dozens of time! Nooo, they love Spirit more they could've given him back to their sibling but they didn't he was still there. When Reader returns they just demand to know who Reader's favourite is. Reader completely stunned as both games start talk to them think they go nuts as they pulled an all-nighter before. The two won't stop and slammed against the glass until it breaks and... why are they so small? Why is Reader so tall?! WHY ARE THESE TWO HERO CHIBIS!? AND WHY HAS ONE OF THEM A JOB!?!
And your words are.

Hello menace! you've discovered one of my utter weaknesses that I've never mentioned on here - spirit is my son/lh/j. I love that silly little train kiddo, he's just! So silly goofy!!!
also firm believer that if they both get out - or actually speak to one another then they'll get along really really well. they're twins and I can't be convinced otherwise.
I think the idea of them both spiting the other until reader leaves them both to go and destress would be an eye opener to the both of them, being bitter and not working together is worse for BOTH of them. Of course they'll both bicker about who is the favourite but when push comes to shove, two is always more effective than one.
ALSO LITTLE MENACE SPIRIT???? LOVE HIM oh he deserves to be an absolute little shit for attention, he's just a baby that can do no wrong after all!!!! just a tiny little guy!!!! Baby boy!!!!! he's got his train so now he just needs his older sib's attention!!! so what if he has to mess with someone else's game to do that - it worked so how can you hate him for it?
also the jesus journey bit is actually sending me- he's so desperate for attention he'll break all the rules in order to keep your eyes on him ;-; hopefully you won't reset his game seeing as he's breaking it so much now
heheheheheh tiny baby spirit who can sit in your hand or a baby wind who can fit in your pockets they're just little tiny babies!!!!! little itty bitty guys!!!!! (reminds me of some imgs peep's sent in asks lmao) so what if they shouldn't be there! now they are and that's your problem to deal with!!! they won't cause issues - pinky promise <3

(both of these guys are by @artsy-moonwalker, I adore these two little guys beyond belief and spirit looking so scruffy is just so!!!!!! literally baby and I love him so!!!)
as for the words hmmmmm, I think I'll go with ice blue for this one (sorry for the late response too, I know these were last week's after all)

I will forever appreciate how BotW had islands dedicated to Phantom Hourglass. With Zauz Island, Bannan Island, Molida Island...
And of course, Linebeck Island
Tumblr media
The small island, surrounded by trees, with a larger tree in the center.
Tumblr media
It's not a very big island, and there's not much there to note, but it's there. Dedicated to the legendary captain himself. If Linebeck got to see it, I imagine he'd be happy. While it's not what you'd expect someone like him to be proud of, it shows that people remembered him fondly. Something he probably never would have expected. He'd be so surprised that people remembered him, much less revered him enough to name a place after him, no matter how small.
Tumblr media
While he talks a big game, internally he feels he is a worthless person. There's probably still a part of him that'd feel like that post Phantom Hourglass. While he's trying to be better, and atone for his past shittiness, he probably still feels like that weasel who hurt everyone around him sometimes. Someone that's not worth remembering.
Tumblr media
And yet, there's Linebeck Island. A place named in his memory.
Tumblr media
Linebeck you are so loved.

Story Summary: After spending five years stuck in the World of the Ocean King, Link returns to the Great Sea, only to find it changed beyond recognition. His friends and family view him as a traitor, accusing him of causing chaos across the ocean. With his allies all turned against him and a curse threatening to take his life, he sets out to reconnect with the one person who may be able to clear his name: Tetra.
Meanwhile, something sinister is rising over the Great Sea--a shadow seeking to spill the hero's blood and revive its fallen master. And this time, Link may not be strong enough to stop it on his own.
Ships: Link/Tetra
Rating: T
Warnings: Angst, Trauma, Violence, Blood and Injury, Torture, Harm to Children, Psycological Trauma
Chapter Summary: A hero makes his final stand against a demon. The quest to obtain the remaining two Pure Metals goes smoothly enough, all things considered. There are still plenty of treacherous temples to traverse and even more of Bellum’s monsters to stand in the way, but with the power of the spirits on his side, Link manages to overcome each of them. Linebeck lends his support in whatever ways he can, keeping his ship stocked up on potions and supplies in the very likely event that Link ever needs them. It isn’t lost on anyone  when the captain begins nagging Link less for returning to the ship without any treasure and more for coming back with any number of new cuts and bruises. With all three Pure Metals in hand, the group seeks out Zauz the blacksmith. They can only assume Oshus must have paid him a visit before they arrived, because he’s already well aware of their mission beforehand. Using his skill in the forge, he uses the Metals to craft a beautiful blade with the power to take Bellum down once and for all: the Phantom Sword. And much like almost everything else he’s found within this strange world, as soon as Link feels that sword’s weight resting in his hand, it rings hauntingly familiar to another sword entirely. A sword long since lost to the bottom of the sea, still buried deep in the skull of the man he’d slain with it.  With the sword and the spirits in tow, there’s no further obstacles standing in their way. They finally make their return to Mercay Island, a solemn journey steeped in silence that hangs heavy even as they disembark and make their way toward the Temple of the Ocean King. None of them wants to think about, much less talk about what awaits them inside of that temple.  Click the link to read more; all comments are appreciated!

All of the Phantom Hourglass fanart I did recently in one post! Featuring: the shopkeepers, Oshus, Linebeck and Ciela, Zauz, and Astrid.
I want to make individual art of the shopkeepers sometime, they're just so cute. The one with Oshus was the one I worked hardest on, and though I don't usually draw male or elderly characters, I really like how he turned out, and it's my favorite piece of the bunch in terms of the results.
But also something about the shopkeeper profile I first made (the standalone miss Ai from Mercay Island) is very endearing to me. I struggled a bit with Zauz and Astrid, I feel like I need to draw them more to get them right.

Fuck it I need to say it.
The Wind Waker timeline CANNOT lead to Breath of the Wild.
Cause if you've played at least a few hours of WW you know that the whole thing about WW is that HYRULE DOESNT EXIST ANYMORE
GUESS WHO KNEW THAT
THE PEOPLE WHO MADE THE WIND WAKER TIMELINE GAMES
Which is why Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks were set on the open sea and in NEW Hyrule
Which is why their Big Bads are respectively Bellum and Malladus and not Ganon
BECAUSE DEMISE'S CURSE WAS DESTROYED ALONG WITH HYRULE
(btw Zauz in PH looks really Gerudo I know it doesn't make sense time-wise but how cool would it be if he was this game's Demise-less iteration of Ganondorf)
IT'S NOT SUBTEXT. IT'S JUST TEXT.
GUESS WHO DIDN'T KNOW THAT
ALL THE NERDS WHO THINK THAT BECAUSE THEY LIKED BOTW (which they're allowed to it's a good game) IT NEEEEEDS TO BE AS IMPORTANT AS OCARINA OF TIME
Just because it's of lesser importance in the overall story doesn't mean it's bad guys. Hell, OOT is one of the most overrated games in gaming history (time travel. really.) and it's still at the center of the chronology.
Fuck those converging timelines. That's not how timelines work.
