Last night while scrolling tiktok half asleep, I saw a video of some girl claiming that Zara's death in Jurassic World was as gruesome as it was because a) it was originally to be multiple attacks across several different people, and b) Katie McGrath suggested it all be Zara, and that she volunteered to do all the stunts.
Has this been independently verified? Didn't even sound like she pronounced Katie's name right, so I'm thinking it might be bogus to fill timelines and get views, but I'm now curious.
To be fair, I'm sure KMG would have absolutely volunteered for stunts-- I just don't know if she's the one to make that creative decision.
And, that said, even if it is true, it doesn't change the fact that the sequence puts me off from ever rewatching it, so... maybe the powers that be should have put their foot down.

Sharing two WIPs. The first is of chapter two of the Jurassic World Before The Storm fic, chapter one of which will be released in SIX days now, while the other WIP is of my FC5 fic Silva's Hope.
Here's the snippet of my Jurassic World WIP below:
“Now that introductions have been made, it’s best to get moving to cover more time for the day,” the woman, Zara, replies.
Joaquin didn’t need to look up at Lisa to know an annoyed scowl was in the midst of forming. Cautiously, he reached out a hand to her crossed arms, a gentle weight on them.
When she shifted her attention to him, the scowl had left, replaced with her soft gaze of hazel acknowledging the nervousness in his small brown eyes.
The eye-contact did not last long, for Joaquin strained to keep hold of the tender look he knew Lisa struggled to share even in her happiest moods. The comfort he should feel turned into distress as she kept staring at him. Overwhelmed and not wanting to have a “panic” in public, Joaquin broke the direct contact and looked away.
Joaquin disliked the prolonged action, how it rubbed him the wrong way when others stared at him for longer than he felt was necessary. Especially when the look into his eyes like they’re searching for some hidden secret. Made him feel sick, like if butterflies were flapping around in his belly.
He also felt as if he had done wrong against Lisa. It wasn’t her fault; his “anxieties”, his “shyness”, his “meek nature”. Just like her “happy moods” and “sad moods” weren’t within her control. His sister was aware of his skittishness, he knew that, and best of all never shunned him for it.
But he sometimes wished that he could give Lisa the comfort she deserved to have.
With her focus no longer on him, Joaquin heard Lisa conversing with Zara once more, much to his relief.
“Ms Dearing had agreed she’d meet us in person,” Lisa gritted out with renewed patience, “What changed?”
“Ms Dearing has been held up by unfinished affairs,” Zara replied, a small smile tugging at her lips as she softly shook her head fondly, “But nothing has changed. I will tour you through the park and show where you will be staying.”
Joaquin saw Lisa’s crossed hands clenching tightly. He also saw Lisa chewing her cheek in contemplation.
Hopefully she doesn’t bite it too hard again, he worried privately, and was unable to stop the stray thought as more came with it, Too hard and her sore might reopen. Then blood would pour out. And she’d be in pain, red slipping out, and he wouldn’t know what to do! She would get an infection, and the carers would come back and take him away from her and he’d be left alone without his sister, and she would be left without him, and it would be all his fault-!
Joaquin snapped out of the rapidly growing panicked thoughts as Zara’s voice speared through the air, looking towards the older woman, who had received no acknowledgement or response from his sister, “Will that be alright, Ms Cobalt?”
Joaquin barely heard the teeth-clenched confirmation from his undoubtedly agitated sister, “Just dandy.”
The agitation seemed to not bother Zara, or maybe it flew over her head, it was hard to tell.
“Wonderful. If you would kindly follow me to the monorail, I believe we can make it to the great lunch specials,” Zara spoke with a pleased and jovial voice. Though that could just be her music that seemed lay on her voice.
Zara turned tail and started walking towards the monorail station. Lisa and Joaquin glanced to one another, the former failing to contain her annoyance, the latter waiting for his sister's next move as he recovered from his own frenzied menagerie of anxious thoughts.
And here's a snippet of Silva's Hope (again this is under heavy development, this is just what I feel confident with so far, even if it the final product might be different):
"So," Kamski's voice returned from the static of the walkie talkie, finally arriving at the topic of importance, "Were you hired?"
Silva sipped again on the hot liquid of her brewed coffee, undeterred by the strong smell tingling her nose. She had gotten used to it.
Brushing a strand of dark hair back, Silva pressed the button and relayed the news she knew Kamski was dreading to hear, "I had been. Answered questions, kept to the story, no problems occurred. Interview went on without a hitch. Sheriff said I begin at the week's end."
Silence befell the kitchen, the lamps strewn throughout Silva's home now the only source of lights left to illuminate the rooms. She made her way to the maroon couch, seating herself in the middle. She brought the mug to her lips once more as Kamski made his reply.
"Not that I don't trust your judgement Silva, but are you sure you should be interacting with the locales Americanos? They can be quite... divisive."
Kamski's voice was steady as he spoke, but Silva could pick up the underlying hints of worry underneath the gruffness. Despite this, she could not hold back an amused snort at his words, "And we've never been?"
"You know what I mean Silva," Kamski responded, tone stern and serious, "This isn't la Minas. The community can be unpredictable if they acquire certain information."
Gulping down the last of her coffee, Silva settled the mug on the table before countering, "And this isn't the Archipiélagos either, Kamski. You and I are more likely to die in an automobile accident because we got distracted looking at something new, shiny and different before anyone decides to aim a weapon at either one of us for petty and meaningless mierda."
Kamski grunted over the transmitter, and Silva exhaled a breath out. This had been a common back-and-forth. It wasn't unwarranted, especially with two of the worst tragedies Silva's ever faced years prior. But Silva had been tired of it. The grief. The anger. The empty loneliness.

Zara: From me, yes.

A Part of You is good.
It's emotional, it's impactful, it's realistic. It has a story to tell, and it tells it in an honest way, mostly avoiding melodrama. It has its flaws but they are easy to ignore once you start caring about the characters.
I really appreciated APOY for showing a family struggling with a loved one's depression. Their inability to communicate with each other and support each other felt too true at some points — I paused the film multiple times because it was that difficult to watch. It was different from the way too many media deal with subjects like addiction and mental health. In real life, those things aren't small obstacles on the path to happiness, they are life-long struggles. APOY felt true in this regard. Through a better part of the film Agnes is completely isolated in her grief, so is her mom. They cannot support one another even in the moment when they learn about Julia's death.
Felicia Maxime's character is the main focus of APOY, we see the story through Agnes' eyes. Felicia is good and completely believable in this role. There were a few moments when her acting seemed a bit melodramatic but they could have been the director's choices.
Edvin has a smaller role than the promo campaign had suggested so I get YR fans' disappointment. Even so, he is brilliant in every scene. I was pleasantly shocked by his ability to bring to life such different characters as Noel and Wilhelm. Not that we needed it after three seasons of Young Royals, but APOY is another confirmation that Edvin is an exceptionally talented actor who will make the absolute best out of any material he is given.
Someone who knows about filmmaking more than I do could write about APOY's visual language. I know nothing. I only can say that the film is really effective at making the viewer feeling the characters' emotions.
The one thing I have issue with APOY is its message. I am not a five-year-old, therefore I don't need a piece of media to be a How It Should Be Done manual. A Part of You is a film about recovering from grief but it sacrifices something to be it. Julia isn't given enough space to become a character the viewer could care about. Bluntly speaking, she is there to die so the other characters could complete their arcs. We only see Julia as her depression — she is a burden to her loved ones, her mom doesn't know how to deal with her, her boyfriend is exhausted and overwhelmed by his duties of a babysitter. Her friends are saddened by Julia's death but we don't know the reason for that, it can be a typical young people's reaction to a death of someone their age. Julia could have been a good person outside of depression she didn't know how to handle. APOY only allows her to be a plot device for other characters' growth.
It brings us to the message. The film leads us to believe that nothing could be done. Julia is dead, her loved ones have to understand her death wasn't their fault and move on. I don't disagree with that. What rubs me the wrong way is carelessness with which the film handles the subject of depression. Depression is difficult for anyone, but it's especially difficult for teenagers. They brains haven't finished developing, they biologically incapable of understanding how long life is. To them, any struggle seems like the end of the world.
I am not suggesting that APOY — a piece of media inspired by a real-life tragedy — should have had a different plot, the one that would teach the audience that depression is manageable and suicides are preventable. I think that any character with mental health struggles deserves to be portrayed as a multidimentional person and their death can't be reduced to a reason behind someone else's journey of self-discovery.

Clothed in uncertainty
The annual charity event was being held at the Hawthorne Foundation. It was no surprise since the chief donator was Tobias Hawthorne himself.
All the family was to be attendance. His mother-in-law Nan. Zara Hawthorne and her husband Constance. Skye Hawthorne with her 7 year and a half year old Nash along with one year old Grayson. The only one left home was barely two-month-old Jameson. The child was rather wild, and Tobias didn't want him screaming the whole time. Neither did anyone else.
Tobias straitened his tie before walking into the richly carpeted hall. With Oren, his body guard, at his side the proceeded downstairs. Impatiently waiting was his youngest daughter Skye.
Her tight, light pink, floor length dress hugged her frame in all the right places.
Standing beside her was Nash. The young lad was dressed in a causal brown suit that matched his hair. Hazel eyes lazily roamed the walls, not seeming excited about the appointment.
That left the last member: Grayson. His mother had dressed him in a black suit that complimented his light blond hair and bluish gray eyes. He did not look happy.
As soon as Tobias reached the threshold Skye dumped Grayson into his arms before storming out the door. "Hurry!" She barked. "We are going to be late."
"Come along lad." he said to Nash. "You're mother is waiting."
"Do I have to go?" the lad whined. "Why can't I stay with Jameson?"
"You are not a baby. Are you saying you are one?"
"No." He spat back. "But I hate parties."
"And so does Grayson but is he throwing a fit?" Tobias raised his eyebrows.
"No." Nash said sulkily.
"Exactly"
Nash climbed into the car next to his mother without any further issues. Tobias carefully put Grayson into his car seat. The child began to squirm in agitation.
"I know." Tobias said softly. "You hate being in the car seat for a long time. But it won't be too bad this time. Under 30 minutes." That seemed to calm the young Grayson down in for his grandfather to finish buckling up.
He then joined Skye and Nash in the middle seats.
The ride was smooth as it could be. Not in the way of being jostled, but more in the way of having to listen to his daughter rant about things that held no importance to the billionaire.
How the shopping mall didn't close down just for her. The maid was late with her breakfast. The gardener was being too loud outside her bedroom window. They were going to be late for the event. Why did they have to bring her sons. Ect.
He politely listened but didn't say a word. His oldest grandson looked as bored as bored could be. He's going to have to suck it up He thought. He doesn't get everything he wants.
The youngest occupant in the car, Grayson, was being louder than he usually was. The child hardly ever made a sound, even when hungry. But now Tobias could hear what sounded to be grunts in displeasure coming from the back.
What in the world?
It was then quiet and he thought nothing of it till they arrived. Pulling up to the main entrance, guests were already starting to arrive.
"See?" Skye spat. "We are late! I knew I should have come in earlier." Before he could say anything she was out the door.
It was always amazing, or maybe disturbing, how Skye's attitude could change in a matter of seconds. She could be yelling at anyone to smiling and laughing loudly just like that.
Shaking his head he watched his daughter walk off. Leaving him with the children. As usual.
Nash hopped down beside him as he went to go get Grayson.
Opening the door he stood there slightly shocked at the scene before him: Clothes and shoes were scattered over the seats and Grayson sat there beaming up at him totally naked.
"What did you do?" He asked, but he couldn't keep the smile that playing on his lips off.
The child giggled. Actually giggled.
Tobias shook his head. "You weirdo." He laughed. "You're not supposed to do that."
"Oren." he called out. "Take Nash inside I'm going to be a minute."
Closing the door behind him he unbuckled Grayson. Picking him up he began to dress hm again.
Grayson squirmed and gave a cry of protest.
"I know. You don't want to get dressed again. But going in totally naked isn't going to happen either."
Within ten minutes the child was fit and ready to go.
Giving a small kiss to the lad's cheek, he picked him up and proceed with his plans.
Grayson never misbehaved like that in public again. But in private? Well.... that's another story.
Please forgive the awful title and I would like to dedicate this story to my friend and mutual @x-liv25-jamieswife. I'm so sorry it took so long.

Ok then! I sure hope you enjoy this, and, sorry it took longer than usual, I've had a chaotic week lol.
Title: Claire's triple whammy
The operators manager of Jurassic World strutted proudly across the control room as she made her way to the helipad. She trotted up the steps and climbed into the helicopter, taking a deep breath to calm her nerves as she sat down and fastened her seat belt. She played with her shiny red hair as the helicopter began to lift off the ground, and, feeling a bit of turbulence, she instinctively wrapped her arm around her belly. She almost always got sick on these silly helicopter rides, which was why she didn't do them unless she absolutely had to. As Claire watched the lush, green jungle pass underneath her, the movement made her even more queasy. The redhead reached into the pocket on the back of the seat and grabbed a sick bag, quickly fumbling with the plastic seal on the top to open it.
"I think I'm going to be sick, I apologize..." Claire said to the pilot, as she held the bag over her mouth, gagging into it. The pilot gave her a sympathetic look and a nod, and thanked her for the warning. Seconds later, Claire was throwing up into the bag.
Soon enough, the helicopter had landed. Claire staggered out of the vehicle, closing the vomit filled bag and throwing it away as she stood and caught her breath.
"Are you alright Miss Dearing?" The pilot asked.
"Oh, um, yes, thanks. " Claire replied.
Later on in the day, Claire was actually feeling better after the incident in the helicopter. She walked alongside her assistant, Zara, on their way to the monorail to go to the docks. The two had a business meeting to attend on the mainland. The two women stepped onto the monorail, and made their way to as private a spot as they could find, to avoid park guests recognizing and bombarding the operations manager and her assistant. Almost as soon as the monorail began to move, Claire felt that awful feeling in her stomach return.
"Oh no..." she mumbled. Zara turned to her. "What's wrong?" She asked.
"I don't feel well. I got sick in the helicopter this morning and I thought I was feeling better, but, it's coming back." Claire explained, bringing a hand up to her mouth.
Zara gave her a sympathetic look. "Oh dear, I'm sorry. Is there anything I can do?"
Claire shrugged. "Do you have any motion sickness medication? Or a bag?"
Zara clicked her tongue thoughtfully as she rummaged through her purse. She found an empty ziplock bag. "Will this work?"
Claire nodded and took the bag. "Yes, it should, thank you. Ugh, I can't believe this is happening again...twice in one day is just...too much."
Zara gave her boss an understanding smile, and soon Claire was retching into the bag...again.
Before long, the two were on the boat to the mainland. Zara was leaned against the rail, admiring Isla Nublar in the distance, when she heard Claire's soft voice beside her.
"Zara...you're not gonna believe this..."
Zara turned around. "Oh Claire, seriously? Seasick too??"
Claire nodded. "Zara...help, please...I don't wanna throw up again..."
Zara pulled Claire into a gentle hug. "Oh dear, I wish I could do something but I really don't think I can. You're probably just gonna have to let it out. "
Claire let out an agonized groan and leaned over the side of the boat, throwing up for the third time.
As soon as she was finished, she wiped her mouth on the back of her hand and sighed deeply. "Welp...I knew I had a sensitive stomach, but that freakin' triple whammy was just unnecessary. "

Micro-tale III
Tumblr media
a/n: you can choose whatever character you want this to be about!
_______________________________
"In the end, I didn't even know when it all ended. I didn't know when I stopped being a priority and became just another option. I never knew why your arms turned into ice or why your kisses seemed like sentences. I will never know when we stop being an us and become a you. You didn't even let me know the moment when we stopped being lovers and became just very cordial roommates. But it doesn't matter, not anymore. I think, deep down, it never really mattered. I knew our tale had the pages counted, I just thought there would be a second volume, you never told me that it was a sad self-contained story. I don't hate you, nor the person who now holds your hand. I'm telling you , I'm not even surprised. In the end, I ran out of pages and you continued writing in someone else's book. I just hope, with all my heart, that the next one has a happy ending and doesn't become what I am now , another gray and dusty book in your bleeding library"
