So I watched the Director’s Cut versions of Rebel Moon Part One & Two, respectively renamed Chalice of Blood and Curse of Forgiveness, exactly one week ago, the day they were released.
As a person who generally doesn’t enjoy the idea of watching films that are over 2.5 hours, really isn’t a fan of gore, and thinks sex scenes are uncomfortable and unnecessary 95% of the time, I was rather apprehensive, to say the least, since those three things are precisely what the two movies promised. Still, I managed to watch them on the same day even though the fact it was hot outside and consequently almost 30°C in my room probably didn’t help me not to feel unwell for a good portion of my viewing experience :’)
However, there’s a fourth thing the new version of the films promised, and this, on the contrary, is exactly what I love and probably what kept me going: more lore. I won’t go into too much detail so as not to spoil major plot points here, but I think Chalice of Blood and Curse of Forgiveness kept all their promises.
Some characters get a proper introduction (notably Aris and Nemesis), or more screen time so we understand them and what they do (mostly the Priests, Hawkshaws, and Jimmy), or a better, more satisfying, sometimes more emotional ending. We also get completely new scenes and characters, and that too greatly helps the narrative, whether it’s by adding more backstory, taking the time to explain someone’s motivations more clearly, revealing how some people reacted to certain events, or detailing how something works.
Also, some of the “mistakes” viewers complained about, for example the spaceship being powered with coal or somebody not missing any teeth after we clearly see them get knocked out, are fixed in the Director’s Cut. It turns out those things were not illogical, they were just censored for the PG-13 version…
As for the sex scenes, while they weren’t indispensable, I have to admit they do serve a purpose. The two “main” ones have a character in common, so we can see how different that person feels and acts with each of their two partners. The scenes need to exist together because they’re only really interesting when you compare them, but that’s how they tell a story. Never in my life had I been so happy to see someone successfully remove a bra, haha! There’s also, of course, the one that involves tentacles, which was–thankfully–milder than I thought it would be, and another unexpected one that happens off-screen but was a rather nice and cute surprise, in my opinion.
And, yes, aside from giving us more blood and more sex, we also get… more wheat! I really don’t mind, though. In fact, this is probably an unpopular opinion, but I’d watch one hour of the cast (actually) harvesting crops in slow motion over just one minute of heads exploding any day :’)
While they’re still not perfect, I think Chalice of Blood and Curse of Forgiveness are improved versions of A Child of Fire and The Scargiver. I still like Part Two better than Part One, but overall, as promised, we get more information about the world, the characters, and their stories in the Director’s Cut. Sometimes, it’s just a new line of dialog or a short interaction that’s added here and there, but it really does a service to the films and makes them, although they’re much longer (especially the first one), feel more coherent, more compelling, and less rushed.
At the end of the day, I think what I most appreciate about Rebel Moon is still that it was brought to life with a lot of care and passion. The two art books, Wolf: Ex Nihilo: Cosmology & Technology and Wurm: Ex Materia: Heroes & Monsters, confirm how painstakingly made and well-thought-out everything was, and I will always love and respect this about this project.
#so yeah the main problem I have with the r-rated versions is that... they’re r-rated#aside from that they made me go 'ooooh okay' or 'why didn’t we see that before?' several times#too bad they removed the names of the locations this time though because that helps me memorize them#that and the explanation/summary at the beginning#rebel moon#chalice of blood#curse of forgiveness#a child of fire#the scargiver#zack snyder#in interviews and the art books everyone says he’s a great person to be and work with#so many people in the film industry are accused of being awful behind-the-scenes so that’s nice to know not everyone is secretly a monster#that makes me like and want to support his work even more

I perceive comic books as one of the most complete storytelling formats where the artist, with words and pictures, can describe the human condition in the most complicated and beautiful way.

Zack Snyder Regains Rights to ‘Blood and Ashes,' Script Originally Pitched as a ‘300' Sequel (Exclusive)
"Blood and Ashes, which he partially wrote while shooting Army of the Dead for Netflix in 2019, ended up focusing on the relationship between Alexander the Great and his second in command, Haphaestion [...] "We got the rights back so we can make if we want it," Snyder said during an interview for this week's THR cover story. "I don't know what the marketplace is for an incredibly homoerotic, super violent, super sexual movie. But maybe it's perfect.""

So for those that are planning to watch Twilight of the Gods and haven't yet. My review is the following:
It's very much a Zack Snyder plot but without the bad Snyder tropes of past movies (thinking especially of 300 here). It's edgy, has beautiful visuals (Snyder projects often do), and has plenty of equal opportunity sex scenes. Plenty of bi characters. Do they look like they'll kiss? They will and much more...
There are very interesting designs. I loved the voice acting and I'm glad Thor sounds much better than in the trailer (I think they edited what he actually says to avoid spoilers).
My main disappointment is the cliffhanger ending. I hope there's a S2 with some non-cliffhanger ending. I fear for the possibility of Netflix not renewing it and think all Netflix series seasons should never on cliffhangers.
It was definitely made with a lot of research. It takes its liberties, as there's some major differences, but I love how they adapted and altered things from the myths for the story's purposes. A lesser "not-like-Marvel" adaptation would have made Loki a Fire Giant/God a la Wagner. But they had the spider association instead!!
Something I really liked is that they made Loki sympathetic without turning him into an actual child. It's something I've seen a lot, and I'm just like "Cowards, there's plenty to work with without turning him into a child!" Loki feels very much like myth!Loki. He's very sympathetic, but you'll never forget that if he's helping, it's because the goals currently align. You'll be crying at the club for Loki, then go like "Oh shit! WTF Loki!?"
GOW has done antagonist Thor the best so far. For people whose Thor is their blorbo-from-myths (because some follow me), I must warn he's currently very much like Homelander (murderous, physically abusive, predatory) but without a fully developed reason to why he's like that YET. They implied interesting things, such as a fear of eternity and wants to die. If there's a second season, I hope it develops that further to make Thor more interesting. I didn't understand his weird fucked up relationship with Jormungandr, and don't think it was necessary to turn Jormungandr into a sexy snake lady to make Loki and his family sympathetic.
I thought his powers were very cool though and you're like "No wonder this guy is so hard to defeat." Like do you ever go like "How the fuck can this guy with a hammer defeat so many people? The plot armor is ridiculous." Here you won't. Actual storm good powers. And there's some very cool shit like he can do. Fight scenes are great.

BARBIE (2023) PROMPTS * assorted dialogue from the film, adjust as necessary
i'm definitely not thinking about death anymore!
i've never seen this kind of malfunction.
am i being too technical?
if you ask me, you're responsible for this, too.
to be honest, when i found out the patriarchy wasn't just about horses, i lost interest.
i just gave you a choice so you could feel like you're in control!
how will i get back?
this happened once before.
i just don't want to leave!
you'll be such a hero to them!
i feel appreciated but not ogled.
i hate it when people think. i'm so bored.
the faster i figure this out, the faster we get home.
i'm not pretty anymore!
humans have only one ending. ideas live forever.
you're so beautiful.
how come you're so amazing!
i worked very hard, so... i deserve it!
you're the voice of a generation.
this makes me emotional, and i'm expressing it.
i got us both ice creams!
i think you have that the wrong way around.
how much of that did you see?
let's get you up on your feet.
you should heal up in no time.
this night is just perfect!
please call my mother.
i thought i might stay over tonight.
does the label "long-term long-distance low-commitment casual girlfriend" mean nothing to her?
i'm great at doing stuff.
it is literally impossible to be a woman.
we always have to be extraordinary, but somehow we're always doing it wrong.
never forget that the system is rigged.
find a way to acknowledge that, but also always be grateful.
it's too hard!
i'm just so tired of watching myself and every single other woman tie herself in knots so that people will like us.
i was arrested for tax evasion.
i smell like basement.
what are you doing here?
did you bring your rollerblades?
i literally go nowhere without them!
do you guys ever think about dying?
i'll play the guitar at you.
yeah, i'm... confused about that.
it's like i've been in a dream where i was really invested in the zack snyder cut of "justice league."
can i talk to a doctor?
i need a clicky pen.
somebody get security.
i've never seen the godfather.
every night is a boy's night.
i just don't know who i am without you.
i only exist within the warmth of your gaze.
i'm just a little blond guy who can't do flips.
you guys aren't doing patriarchy very well.
men hate women and women hate women. it's the one thing we can all agree on.
you don't have your license.
you can be brainwashed, or you can be ugly. there's nothing in between.
she's not dying, she's just having an existential crisis.
i'm sensing some kind of ententre here... and it appears to be double.
who am i to burst their bubble?
you use your imagination!
you can ask me any question you want.

Oh ye of infinite wisdom. Can you tell a poor, unenlightened soul what the first horror movie ever made was?
The oldest known horror film, now lost media, is an 1896 short by Eugénie Génin titled "The True House of the Devil."
With the birth of cinema came Georges Méliès, one of its first grand masters. Making dozens if not hundreds of science fiction and fantasy movies with his wife (Génin) he also made the first dark fantasy film, "The Devil's House," in 1896. However, this film is not what he and Génin originally conceived. She had originally written a far scarier movie, but Méliès considered it far too disturbing to make. He instead made his own version, similar to his more carnival exhibition style shorts of the time.
But Génin was happy with her original story, and borrowed his camera each night to film her own version. What she made is a bit of a mystery. Her scripts were burned in the Great Paris Flambé Accident of 1901, and the original film was screened only once and was then immediately destroyed due to the audience's reaction.
Film historian Flynn Asterion explains, "Génin's film, according to the only survivor who saw it, depicted a house with a pit that lead to hell, or perhaps another dimension, where a demonic guide showed the true nature of God and the Devil and the universe in such specificity and accuracy that the audience went insane."
Most of the audience died instantly, became demented and ate their own eyeballs, or ran screaming into the sewer and never returned. The only remaining viewer, Jean-Regarde Quinapas Mangéses Propresyeux, is said to have survived by running naked from the screening, shouting about the end of existence, and filling his socks with horse manure. Arrested soon after for not using the proper Chaussettes d'Excréments for the act, he slowly declined in prison and was never heard from again.
When Méliès learned of the disaster, he shut down all attempts at reproduction or preservation of Génin's film, and the film was lost.
Though this first horror movie was indeed so disturbing that it drove the audience mad, no movies in the 130 years since have matched its terrifying nature. There is good news however, as several viewers of Zack Snyder's upcoming "Rebel Moon" have had similar reactions, with some critics chewing off their own feet to escape the screening, despite their feet not having been restrained. Is a new master of disturbing cinema on the horizon? Only time will tell.

I agree with this take WHOLEHEARTEDLY. Cap needs to be respected by DC in order to get a good adaptation. Also I keep thinking this in my head, but I really do think that now with the Superman animated series out, a Shazam/Captain series would be a great follow up. I JUST WANNA SEE MORE OF HIM MAN!🥲

Back to Rebel Moon for a second because, when I saw this...
...I immediately tried to decode the inscription since I love a good challenge and deciphering secret messages or fictional alphabets in general. In fact, even before I saw this post, I knew the companion guide existed and had already decoded the font (the 31 characters available on the website, at least). The script used to write the secret message on the Bone Staff is not the same, though, but I was more than happy to try to decipher that too!
Well, less than 24 hours after this post/tweet, I did it.
I decoded the message.
And from what I’ve seen, I may be the only one so far.
Part of me can’t wait to share what I found and explain in detail how I found it because it was a cool riddle... but the other can’t help but hope to get some kind of “official recognition” for this achievement before revealing what the inscription is… even though that will most likely never happen 🥲
#I know it probably sounds stupid but I would really hate it if someone just ‘stole’ the decoded message and took credit for decoding it#I spent hours on this yesterday and I’m just proud I figured it out you know?#my dedication paid off and that feels great#(yes this happened yesterday but I post things late)#I replied to the tweet/post but I’m 99.9% sure he didn’t and won’t see my message#…anyway so how do I contact him directly?#rebel moon#rebel moon part one a child of fire#a child of fire#zack snyder

It's pathetic that people these days still think that superheros in media are dying.
But honestly, they just be cynical and rather focus bashing on stinkers like Madame Web, listening to grifters and revolutionizing any bad superhero film and say a stupid hot take and than give films Blue Beatle, The Marvels, any great and fun film an chance.
Echo and Peacemaker was good and I can't wait for new shows like Agatha, Penguin, Ironheart or any projects whether MCU or DC.
But I think people should give superhero cartoons a chance.
What if brought a endless possibilities to the MCU, bringing it's familiar characters in whole new perspective and gives a lot for the audience to explore the multiverse and wanting more.
Invincible is a show I did not expect, both gruesome and captivating pretty similar to a another Amazon show, The Boys.
But it wonderfully shows the ups and downs of a superhero, making it's welcome in the list of your shows that must be watched for the experience.
Also no surprise since it's based off a comic book created by the people who also made The Walking Dead.
My Adventures with Superman introduced a new version of Superman's world that actually feels bright and hopeful unlike the Zack Snyder films that try to bring but forgotten in the last minute.
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur bring the titular characters in the spotlight, paving the way for a new black superhero with amazing diversity, colorful animation and character design and an addicting soundtrack like Black Panther and the Spider-verse films.
X-Men 97 is holy grail of all revivals and the one that beats the original. Back on my X-Men 97 review, I said that I haven't grow up on the original and due that I was born in 2002 but I started watching the original lately because of this show.
It's one of the best and refreshing marvel shows I ever watched, it felt like anything from the show has never left, but with an better style and unique writing that the writers should definitely be a part of the MCU's version.
I just love how we are introduce to a new era of animated superhero shows, with astonishing performances, amazing writing and peak designs.
Growing up from shows like Static Shock, Teen Titans, Iron Man: Armored Adventures, Fantastic Four: Wgh and Spectacular Spiderman.
I was in for these shows when they got announced and hoped to see more shows like this in the future.
I hope you should give these shows a chance because animation is the backbone for superhero shows and media in general in my opinion.

I don’t care what anyone says, I loved the Superman Trailer! I love the classic-looking suit, I like how the first shot of him was him on the ground to show he’s a man like us who can get hurt and I love the hopeful feeling the trailer built up. I hope this movie pulls through and turns out to be something great.
If you don’t like the trailer if you prefer Henry Cavill’s Superman…Then good for you, just don’t be a jackass and try to ruin it for the people who like this and hope the movie turns out well. Being a whiny cynical douche online isn’t going to magically bring Zack Snyder or Henry Cavill back into the picture.

Just a party part 2.
Jason P.O.V.
Out of all the people from our group, I picked Ezra. There is Ben, Henry, Ray, even Gal would be a better choice. But no, I had to pick Ezra. Zack Snyder wants to get the most of us by playing these roles and he wants to know if we are flexible and able to truly act. Why not swapping our bodies right? Anyway, its just for a day. Can't be that bad.
Now Zack told us about some party nearby. Swingers party like this?Maybe it can get bad...
I couldnť really focus on the ride. I couldn't get ove rthe fact, that Ezra was me and now playinf with my pecs in the backsett. I don't think I event want to know who he is gonna fuck tonight. Using my body. I don't even want to fuck anyone in this body.
They told us we can only enter in pairs. Silly old me thought that we would already be paired like this in the rooms. I grabbed Ben, now in Henry's body and rushed through the door. If I am to fuck somebody tonight, let it be Henry's body. I can't go there with Ezra. I just can't
We were the last to arrive. Most of the rooms were already assigned, but they told us, that the numbers we received are going to choose our partner. One odd number, one even. Wait. God, please. Don't let Ezra have an odd number like me, that would be a cruel joke. Please don't
"Number 14 and 16"
"Guess it's you and me again. Ben took Henry's hand and followed him to the room they were assigned"
I am going to punch someone. "Can we maybe wait for somebody else to arrive?"
"Nonsense, we are almost done now. Number 9 a 11"
My body aproached me and whispered in my ear:"Oh hello there handsome. Long time no see."
We went into the room. I sat on the bed, depressed. I can't do this. I can't do this knowing that Ezra is in my body.
"So, big boy. How you wanna start? Want me to give you a show and then let me fuck you like a little slut you are now?"
"Ezra, I'm sorry, I know this is voluntary, but I don't think I want to top you in your body. My body isn't meant to be topped."
"Oh don't worry about that. You'll be the bottom tonight."
Oh god. Atleast I know my big dick is gonna hit the right spots...
Inbox request: Your stories are soo good, love the Chris E. and RDJ swap. Maybe a second part involving some actors from dc, like Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa swapping to try new roles & running into Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck in the rooms?
Also an explanation why I post inbox stories like this. The explanation is simple. The photo is on top and it can be visible easily in the archive. Nothing else. Haha. Have a great day, may you swap with the ones you most desire
Part 1 of the story:
