The misconception of something "not working" is because you think there is "an ego" here to obtain something.. there isn't. The ego doesn't truly exist; it's just an illusion. How do you know you're seemingly perceiving something through "senses"? Isn't it because you were aware before interpreting it as "seeing, feeling, smelling, etc"? You think you're seeing, but no one is; it's just the "image" seeing itself. You think you're hearing, but no one is; it's just the "sound" hearing itself. It's all "THAT". Nothing is happening to you because there is no "body" here; you are the "screen", and these appearances happen "within" "THAT", on "THAT", AS "THAT".

⚫ I have seen 3 Aquarian moons (of Dhanishta nak) who had a poverty stricken first half of life (childhood, teenage years) but then they become well off like rlly very well off in their second half (esp after marriage). What does time feel like to a Time Lord?

This can only ever be educated guesswork, but here's a good starting point if we take each of humanity's five senses and add a little Time Lord flair.

👁️The Senses

Visualising Time

Time Lords can generally perceive 'time particles' in the air, so if they're looking at an individual who has extensively time travelled, they can see a sort of 'slithery mist' around the person.

This perception of 'time particles' probably extends to other forms of time-related visual perception, like seeing a build-up of time particles where a paradox has occurred or other forms of time-related phenomena.

Metaphysical: For them, seeing time could be like watching a never-ending kaleidoscope, where colours and patterns represent different eras and possibilities. They simultaneously perceive layers of what was, what is, and what could be.

Hearing Time

On a practical level, Time Lords have very sensitive hearing and perceive a wider range of frequencies than humans, so they can associate certain sounds with certain eras, and when used enough, this becomes instinctual.

Metaphysical: Maybe they hear time as an ever-changing melody, with the past as a soft echo, the present as a clear note, and the future as a whisper of melodies yet to be played.

Tasting and Smelling Time

Tasting and smelling time involve experiencing the "flavour" or "scent" of different eras - practically, certain tastes and smells will designate certain moments of time, for example, you're not going to smell a burger van in 300AD.

Metaphysical: Moments of joy might taste sweet, while periods of sorrow carry a bitter tang. The scent of an impending event might be sharp and clear, and the aroma of the past lingers faintly, like a perfume fading away.

Touching Time

Metaphysical: More difficult to give a practical version, feeling time could be like touching the texture of reality. They might feel the rough edges of conflict or the smooth serenity of peaceful times. The brush of potential futures might feel like a gentle breeze against their skin, while fixed events are immovable, like standing against a solid wall.

👽 Beyond Human Senses

Beyond these, Time Lords have their 'chronopsionic' sense/s. This might be like an internal compass, always aware of their position in time, feeling the push and pull of temporal currents and eddies, like swimming in the sea.

⚡Physical Reactions to Time

Heightened Time Awareness: They sense when time is not passing normally and can resist distortions, with a learned skill for 'internal chronometry' to measure time precisely.

Time-Sensitive Species Detection: They can instinctively detect other time-sensitive beings, like recognising someone might like heavy metal because they're wearing a ton of Iron Maiden merch.

Revulsion to Time Anomalies: Confronted with anti-time entities, Time Lords experience a guttural repulsion, like biting into an apple and realising it's full of maggots.

Breaking Laws of Time: They're instinctively aware when the Laws of Time are broken, which manifests more like an illness, with physical symptoms like shivers, memory issues, or pain.

Sensing Time Phenomena: Exposure to paradoxes, time fissures, etc., can cause headaches, tingling sensations, and dizziness like an illness too.

Emotional Connection: These sensory perceptions might be intertwined with emotional states. Significant periods in time might evoke corresponding emotional responses in a Time Lord, adding depth to their experience.

🌌Individuality

It should definitely be highlighted here that every Time Lord will experience and interpret their senses differently, just as every person has a unique way of perceiving the world around them. You are all individuals!

🏫 So ...

There are only a few clearly-defined rules on how Time Lords see the universe, so most of it is up for interpretation, and that's easy because every Time Lord sees the Universe differently. But with all these kicks and sensations, it would make sense why some Time Lords find travelling so addicting.

Howard: what people usually see first is a cute face and a disarming smile. There *is* something slightly off about him, like a gut feeling telling you to leave, but it’s easy to ignore once he puts his charm to work. He comes across as alluring to some people, and somewhat annoying and frivolous to others, and that is not too far from his true personality. What’s not immediately obvious is how cruel and manipulative and bored he is behind this seemingly shallow and careless facade (which is actually the point).

Martin: he comes across as this aloof weird slightly unpleasant guy with greasy hair and deep shadows under his eyes, so not many people get to know him enough to form their opinion of him based not only on the first impression. They’re not too wrong though. He *is* a weird obsessive aloof guy; but he is also kind and gentle and well-educated and pretty good at conversations, especially if a topic of his interest is touched.

Mary: she makes an impression of that scary teacher that will hit your hands if you make a spelling mistake, which is slightly unfair because she won’t actually hit children. As for everyone else, well… She seems very stern and that goes far beneath the surface, to the core of her personality. She is very demanding both of others and herself and there probably isn’t much tenderness left in her.

✨ - Tell something that makes this oc feel happy!

Howard: taking off his bandages to bathe. Feeling air on his skin. Looking at himself in the mirror without them and remembering the times on the Surface, where he didn’t wear them (he won’t admit it, but he is a little nostalgic).

Martin: listening to the piano music. Being touched by a friend. Just… not being alone.

Mary: she is way too focused on her grief to allow herself to be happy, but what thrills her is an occasional scientific discovery, or the process of research itself.

Howard: he plays piano and violin and occasionally writes small pieces himself, also dabbles in poetry. It has proven useful in courting people, but is also a good way to distract himself from the Thoughts and occupy his hands. 

Martin: aside from writing that he does for a living, the closest thing to art he does is sketching the Correspondence sigils; other than that, he doesn’t have much time or energy for hobbies.

Mary: she knits and sews. Almost all of her clothes are made by her.

Most people in Ninjago (strangers, especially) tend to perceive Lyra as genuinely small, harmless, and unthreatening—such a sweet girl. Her regular customers, including the ninja, find her short-tempered, witty, and at times a little rude, especially if provoked.

Seeing as Lyra can shape shift into an utterly massive, battle ready demon, I’d say half of their first assumptions are usually correct. She is genuinely kind, she will also just… rip your head off if you pose a threat haha.

(This part is somewhat based off of Japanese folklore, where some Oni can shape shift to seem like human beings for various reasons.)

💝 - How much effort do they put into appearances? Do they have a favorite article of clothing?

I’d say Lyra doesn’t put too much effort into her appearance. She doesn’t wear make up or anything too fancy, and she leans towards clothing that’s practical yet presentable. She usually wears sensible black tops that show off her shoulders, where she has a lot of a freckles. It’s her way of raising a middle finger to her mom, who used to make negative comments about them to Lyra growing up.

If she has a key piece, it’s probably her dangly, butterfly earrings.

Ooh, I never actually figured out a specific date for her. It’s probably a late winter, early spring birthday. She’d probably want to celebrate it quietly, with a few close people, maybe some matcha-flavored ice cream or cake. (Not that the ninja are quiet because they absolutely would barge in with the whole nine yards worth of a birthday party.)

🧶 - Do they do any arts, crafts, or creative hobbies?

She cultivates tea plants? Idk, she likes to collect a lot of pictures and trinkets from her favorite memories, so maybe she’d have a side hobby in scrapbooking or bullet journaling?

Her tea shop. It’s a warm, soft reminder of her auntie and the good memories she shared with her.

Ooooooh okay!

👁️: People tend to perceive Cassie as a buff, dumb bruiser. And, in their defense, she is buff and she will fight people. She’s probably actually better at it than most people think - Cassie doesn’t have an action movie build, she’s a bit chubby, but she’s strong. People are wrong in thinking she’s dumb, though. Sure, she’s a bit tactless and she is pretty uneducated but she’s not stupid. She’s very good at improvising and adapting her plans and strategizing for fights and more physical things.

💝: Haha, Cassie basically puts in the minimum amount of effort required by her job. She has a uniform and she wears it, but Belladonna has a constant fight to get her to comb her hair because she’s fine with it being a mess. Her favourite article of clothing is her eye patch, which is actually the only piece of clothing she cares about. It keeps her purple eye from getting noticed which keeps her from getting sent back to Sixth Station to die painfully.

❗️: At the current point in time I’m writing (so beginning of arc 2), Cassie’s number 1 priority is herself and keeping herself safe. Her second priority is protecting Nellie, and a distant third is Belladonna and her actual job. Part of Cassie’s arc is realizing that there are things going on that are greater than her survival and realizing how much she can do if she wants to, but she’s just starting to open up to that, so she hasn’t realized quite yet.

⚡️: I think Cassie is very apprehensive around door control panels in particular, because the last time she messed around with one she cut her arm off. To be fair, she was doing it on purpose and manually disabled the safeties, but still, I think fiddling around with door settings always reminds her how easy it would be and unnerves her a bit.

💛: She’s a bit awkward, but kids tend to like her anyway. They find her funny, are curious about her arm, and want to play and roughhouse with her, which she’s down for. She doesn’t really know how to talk to them or relate to them though, and she’s really bad at not swearing in front of the children.

👁 how do people perceive iris? uhm. thos question is weird because now im not sure if they meant real people or in-universe. because i dont know peoples perception of iris. yeah i think he would probably just look like a sad little meow meow character to some people or pathetic, but hes pathetic not in the cute way. hes just actually pathetic and pitiful. but also completely out of it all the time and extremely violent and irritable. and he doesnt let himself be helped either because he holds a grudge against basically everyone. but of course im just kinda assuming what people might think. idk though

All Systems Red was so GOOD!!!! And I immediately started Artifical Condition and I love it more!!!!!

The characterization is so good, 1st Murderbot is relatable (the horrors of being perceived, please let me binge my favorite TV show in peace, too many feelings, nobody look at me, outcast stuck between worlds, on a self discovery quest), also one of my favorite scenes was when Murderbot confesses in front of the science team and is standing in the corner watching their reactions on the security camera feed to avoid eye contact and feel removed from the situation I wish I could do that.

And 2nd it’s written so well that I understand all the incomprehensible parts of existing as a construct android, especially in Artificial Condition where Murderbot interacts with ART. That’s so cool that ART is just an incomprehensibly powerful and gigantic presence Murderbot can feel leaning over their shoulder.

Imagine trying to argue with a super super smart and prying spaceship that is actively researching counterpoints in real time while you are trying to defend yourself, but it won’t leave you alone because it’s nosy and you are literally inside of it and can’t get away. And it bugs you to let it watch TV with you and you have to keep stopping because it’s overly attached to the characters and gets emotional when they die, and when the fictional spaceship gets blown up, your robot watchparty member is so distraught you have to switch shows. And then it ridicules your taste in TV and pries into your life story and calls you a little stupid.👁️👁️ I’m so happy there’s 7 of these books

Esther: She tends to be perceived as weak, fragile, indecisive and overall, overly kind. The reality is that she's incredibly strong mentally, that she can manage a lot of pain, and that there are matters she does not hesitate about in the slightest. She personally sees herself as giving rather than overly kind, though, and considers that generosity a good thing.

Viva: At first, Viva may appear carefree. She seems to be the sort of person who knows no humility, who's always brave, strong, who's open about everything and anything, and who will accept any challenge.

The truth is that Viva will face any challenge, although not necessarily because she wants to. She cares a lot about others, and although at times reckless, she isn't selfish. She doesn't consider herself to be particularly outstanding in any way, or much rather, she does think she's still lacking both in terms of skills and personality. She is brave. She is strong. But she is also fragile -- like a diamond that although hard, can be brittle.

🌨️ - If this oc had a day free from all their responsibilities, how would they spend it?

Esther: Reading & knitting. Possibly, she'd go on a walk, sit outside by a tree and eat some home-made pastries. (She's likely prepared those herself.)

Viva: She'd go on a hike, or she'd ride a horse, or find a river to swim in, or go explore the city, or... ! She'd definitely be rather active. Sitting still isn't necessarily her forte.

Esther: When somebody does her hair for her.

Viva: Being the little spoon.

Esther: Knitting & crochet. She can also sew a little, but that's for utility. She also likes to bake.

Viva: Not really. If she's bored, she may take a knife and carve in wood, but it's never anything too major. (But she does like to cook.)

Esther: Spiders.

👁️ - How do other people perceive this oc? How close do their first assumptions come to the truth?

People's first impression of Tritchet is....mostly right. Yes, she is high energy and charming and good with people and really, genuinely eager to help. All very true! But she's also a remarkably private person for all of that. She has a really insatiable appetite for experiencing things, and it makes her a pretty substantial jack of all trades when it comes to culture. She likes history (ESPECIALLY dragon history) and for all that she's not a scholar, she's actually pretty good at retaining information. She just prefers to hear it told to her, or to live it, than to experience it through a book.

So, yes. She's the big, goofy jock little sister of the Warrior of Light. She's the traveler and the do-gooder and the energetic idiot with the big pointy stick.

No one would expect anything else.

💙 - Describe their bedroom! Is it personalized, unchanged? Messy, neat?

Tritchet's bedroom in her mother's house was a wreck. Absolute bomb-went-off whirlwind of clothes and half-finished projects that she never got excited about. I think part of it was in rebellion of a life that absolutely did not suit her, so I feel like it's not an accurate depiction of the place she tends to keep.

Tritchet's bedroom in the FC house is...largely untouched. She just doesn't spend a lot of time there! She's usually out gallivanting around the world, and spends more time in inn rooms with her life packed into a travel bag. She's got a few mementos stuffed into the corners and a rug and a bed and a table, but otherwise? It's...it's pretty bare.

The room that Vrtra put her up in in Radz-at-Han might be the only proper reflection of Tritchet's usual bedroom setup. And it's relatively tidy! She tends to leave clothes...kind of everywhere, but otherwise she keeps things relatively neat. Her goldsmithing projects are relegated to a desk that gets cleaned with relative frequency, her armor and weapons have a chest and a locker respectively; she keeps little specks of herself scattered around, but tends to avoid wall hangings and big fixtures for being both too large to lug around and also just kind of...empty, when she's got the memory of her travels to keep her company. So for a blessing, things stay relatively neat.

Except for laundry. She's...she's SO bad at laundry, guys. She loves clothes and fashion so, so much, but they're such a paiiiin.

☔ - How does this oc feel about rain?

Mostly positive, but highly dependent on her clothing. She deals with being wet the same way that she deals with being cold - as just another hazard of her lifestyle, and she LOVES her lifestyle. But she also likes nice things, so if she put on a fancy outfit and it gets wet, she can get grumpy.

If she's inside, though? Loves the rain. Best weather, without question. It's an excuse to nap, an excuse to keep the windows open and an excuse to get hot coffee and soup all rolled into one.

📓 - Do you associate any quotes or lyrics with this oc?

I have a few songs that I feel are INHERENTLY very Tritchet (Around and Around by The Happy Fits comes to mind) but as for poignant lyrics or quotes? It's always gonna be this one.

Many, MANY of Tritchet's problems arise from the fact that, despite being very personable and charming and utterly at ease in casual situations, she has a hard time actually...talking about things? Especially if they involve people she cares about. She never told Wickit about how she struggled with being relegated to her shadow until things blew up between them; she never let herself even BEGIN to consider talking to Estinien about her feelings until the world started to end. So this quote always reminds me of her little mini arc. (And is, incidentally, sort of where she gets her Dark Knight arc from too. :) )

Freeze or flight, depends on the kind of stressor. She tends towards freeze because it gives her an extra second to evaluate whatever is happening, which is what her parents always drilled into her and her brother. They were more forgiving of a late response than an incorrect one, and Wyn has carried that tendency into her adulthood.

That said, when she was staring down the barrel of a loaded gibbering mouther, she definitely DID run first.

OOF, what a question in this very moment of her campaign. Wyn is, uh...she's having a rough go of it, folks! The revelation that she and her party are expected to try to break the curse on Barovia is so horrifically laughable that she has stepped past all of the other stages of grief and right into acceptance. She's preparing herself to die in Barovia, because like. what the fuck, man. They're all just a bunch of chucklefucks who stumbled into the Mists, there is NO WAY -

That said, she isn't preparing to roll over and give up. She'll go as far as she can; she just won't be surprised when she falls. So for now, her priority has moved from, "get out" to the much more immediate, "take the vulnerable NPC that Wyn definitely doesn't have a bit of a fancy for to the safe place they've been told about and...figure it all out from there."

Hopefully the big, scary black carriage we're walking up to this next session doesn't ruin that! :)

Wyn paints! She likes painting scenery more than people, and she actively cannot begin to wrap her head around animals, but she'll try anything a couple of times. She has started a little portrait of our wizard, because our NPC friend pointed out that he wasn't like the wizards in her books since he is woefully bereft of any facial hair, and suggested that maybe he would get a beard when he was a powerful wizard one day. Naturally, Wyn thought this was hilarious and is not-so-secretly painting him into their ranks.

I've got it in my head that, if he manages to pull of something really impressive in the next few sessions, Wyn might scrap it and paint him doing cool Wizard Shit instead because I think she begrudgingly likes him, but. that's gonna be up to him. :>

This one fucks me up because Wyn's guilt wrt her brother is infinite and this feels like it encapsulates it.

She associates a LOT of her grief with her childhood home, so you'll find a lot of quotes about houses in her tag. She's my spooky girl, she needs a dubious relationship with a haunted house. :D

OH BOY DO I- (definitely no projection, yeah none at alllll /s)

1. He speaks multiple languages and no one will ever hear him speak them unless absolutely necessary, he primarily speaks English (obvious reasons), Spanish (obvious reasons), some French (certain historical reasons) and some Czech (a large amount of slavic immigrants)

2. He has some really shitty mental health that he refuses to address out of fear of being perceived as weak. Austin might be the only reason he isn’t completely neglecting his own mental health.

3. Speaking of Austin, I feel like Texas had a huge amount of denial regarding finally accepting the existence of Austin. He also has a huge fear of being seen as an equal to Austin because in his mind Austin is of less value because he perceives himself as the original, providing him with a significant fear of acknowledging any trauma or mental health struggles he’s been experiencing.

4. He has dark brown eyes however they do tend to change colors slightly depending on his environment, especially in the sun light as they shift hue to a shine of gold, as well as having a faint tint of blue while around blue bonnets (his state flower).

5. He plays the violin however calls it his fiddle because the word violin sounds far to northern for his taste.

6. Grew up with undiagnosed ADHD was constantly being told to: “Stop moving around like that!”, “Quiet down for once!”, “Will you just shut up?”, “Pay attention!” which was heavily internalized later on in life causing hun to suppress a lot of his emotions out of the lingering memory of being scolded for simply not purposefully conforming to what others wanted him to be.

7. King of the hill. All time favorite show. He has a blue lacy (Texas’s state dog) named Ladybird after Hank Hill’s dog.

8. I can see him really really liking cold brew for some reason????? Like straight cold brew, not even diluted with water. I can also see him severely enjoying really sweet coffee but keeps it a secret or finds a way to “Texan” like caramel frappuccinos or some shit ykwim.
