Toshiro Mifune and Yoshiko Yamaguchi (Sword for Hire, Last Embrace, Foghorn)—Ho ho ho coming in with the big gun: Toshiro Mifune & Yoshiko Yamaguchi. they're romantic couples in at least Foghorn 1952, Sword for Hire 1952, and The Last Embrace 1953. i'm having trouble adding image links but there was this yamaguchi propaganda post a while back of TLE stills that sums up their insane hotness together pretty well [link, with some pics also under the cut]. these two were the backbone of hollywood style raw sexual energy in jp postwar cinema and i also really wanna post that xmas song clip of them from Scandal

Another one of the many fascinating casting choices of women in Kurosawa films (and in an underrated film), Yoshiko Yamaguchi lived a surprising life compared to usual celebrities. After she retired from film in 1958, she started reporting on the Vietnam War. She would soon become politically active, specifically for pro-Palestinian causes and favoring the Palestinian Liberation Organization. In 1974, she became an elected member of the Japanese Parliament as part of the Liberal Democratic Party. She served there for 18 years and also as Vice President of the Asian Women's Fund. She would later campaign for Japan to pay reparations for Korean women who were forced into sexual slavery under the Japanese occupation during WW2. In 2012, it was discovered she also gave concerts to Japanese Americans during their internments in the camps of California during the war for consolation and hope. She passed away in 2014 at the age of 94.

was reading a something about the most iconic golden age japanese actresses and there was a picture from scandal and for a moment was like. makes sense that toshiro mifune is a great actress. deserved spot. no questions asked.

These two actors will be playing the main characters in the hell is other people adaptation that is being produced in Japan right now! Release date is set for november 15 this year.

As far as I know, they will be adapting the webtoon and not remake the korean drama. I expect a lot of changes to be made, especially since the character on the right is reminding me more of the webtoon version of moonjo, aka yeongsam/영삼 (he even resembles Ki-Hyuk, who resembled Yeongsam a lot too)

As for the actors, here is what I could find:

- Jongwoo is renamed "Yuu" and is played by Hachimura Rintaro (funny enough, the guy is also part of a boy group/an Idol. Just like Yim Siwan). His only acting roles so far are this movie, another movie and a series.

- Moonjo/Yeongsam is renamed "Kirishima" and is played by Yanagi Shuntaro. He has played in quite a lot of movies, including horror and thriller works.

- Ji-eun (girlfriend of Jongwoo) is renamed "Megumi" and is played by Okada Yui (google translate gave me the name "Yumi" name which tells you it's not really accurate...). She has played in quite a lot of movies and series, including horror and thriller works.

- I'm pretty sure "Yamaguchi" who is described as yakuza-like man is Hee-Joong, the guy that "moves out" early.

- "Maru" and "Goru" are probably the twins.

- the only name left is "Yoshiko" which might be the owner of Eden or in this case, "Hakubone"

Eden seems to be renamed "Hakubone" which means boat or ark (Ark was also the name google translate gave me, it's probably referencing Noah's Ark).

As for the director, their name seems to be Kodama Kazuto, I looked through their works and they directed over 60 horror movies since 2005, I have yet to see any of their works but I will check them out, i'm really curious how the quality of them is.
