Kimi RÀikkönen, the Iceman of Formula 1, had always been known for his stoic and unemotional demeanor on the race track. But at home, in the quiet moments, he transformed into a different person entirely. There was a side of him that very few people got to see, a side that was incredibly warm, loving, and tender.
One sunny afternoon, the two of you sat in the cozy living room, surrounded by the soft laughter and gurgles of your 6-month-old son, Jake. Kimi held the baby in his arms, cradling him gently as he made funny faces to elicit the most delightful giggles from your little one.
Kimi leaned down, his lips brushing against Jake's plump, rosy cheeks. "Who's the happiest baby in the world, huh?" he cooed, his Finnish accent making it all the more endearing.
Jake's response was a chorus of delighted baby laughter, a sound that could melt the coldest of hearts. You watched in awe as your husband continued to play with Jake, making silly noises and pretending to nibble on his tiny fingers. It was a side of Kimi that you fell in love with all over again, a side that he reserved for his family.
"Kimi," you whispered, unable to contain your fondness, "you are the best dad in the world."
Kimi looked up from Jake's little face, his azure eyes meeting yours. A small, warm smile graced his lips, a rare sight for the world but a daily occurrence in the privacy of your home. "I learned from the best," he said softly, referring to you.
You couldn't help but blush at the compliment. Kimi's transformation into a devoted father had surprised you, but it had also filled your heart with an indescribable joy. His dedication and love for Jake were unmistakable, and you couldn't have asked for a better partner to share parenthood with.
As the day continued, you both took turns caring for Jake, feeding him, changing his diapers, and watching him drift off to sleep in his crib. Every moment felt like a cherished memory in the making, and you couldn't help but daydream about the future.
When Kimi returned to the living room after putting Jake down for his nap, he found you deep in thought. You looked up at him with a dreamy smile, and he knew you were up to something.
"Darling, what's on your mind?" he asked, settling beside you on the couch.
You took his hand and interlaced your fingers. "Kimi, I was just thinking about how wonderful this is—our little family. I love watching you with Jake, and I can't help but wonder
I want more of these moments. I want more children with you."
Kimi's typically cool exterior cracked, and he looked at you with a mix of surprise and delight. "More children?" he repeated, as if the idea had never occurred to him before. But the spark of warmth in his eyes revealed that he was just as excited by the prospect.
You nodded, your heart pounding with anticipation. "Yes, more children. I want to see you as a father again and again, to have more of these beautiful moments with you."
A slow, genuine smile spread across Kimi's face, and he pulled you into a loving embrace. "I'd love that," he said, his voice filled with emotion. "I love you, and I love our family. Let's make more beautiful memories together."
The two of you sat there, lost in the prospect of a larger, even more joyful family. Kimi held you close, and you knew that your dreams were aligned. It was a beautiful day of laughter, love, and dreams for the future, all in the gentle embrace of your husband and your precious son, Jake. The Iceman had certainly melted, and you couldn't have been happier about it.

"How does it feel to bring home a gold medal for your country, again?" the interviewer asks and a big grin appears on your face.
"I mean, i love the sport and I've worked hard to get where I am. I think this year there were many other contestants who also deserved gold and everyone who took part today were amazing!" you keep smiling, it had been a really amazing set for you today. You'd even broke some records while here.
"And now what is your plan?" they ask holding the mic closer to you.
"Well my husband is waiting for me, just over there. So i think he wants to give me his congratulations" you say pointing out our stoic looking husband who was waiting in the background, keeping to himself watching the world go past.
"Ah yes, Kimi Raikkonen! The Ice Man, who arguably married Queen of the Ice" he jokes making you laugh a little. You had heard similar jokes many times since you'd married Kimi.
"Yes, obviously being here in South Korea for the Winter Olympics has been amazing, and I'll be sure to train hard for 2022 but now I'm needed to go support my lovely lovely husband in his fast cars" you exclaim, knowing that the Australian Grand Prix was round the corner.
"Ah yes, it's looking like a good season for Ferrari! And we can tell from your outfit today they already have your support"
"My support is for whatever team my husband is in, so Ferrari have had my support since Kimi has raced with them!"
You left the interview thanking your team before finding Kimi waiting for you quietly.
"Home?" you ask and he nods silently grabbing your hand and pulling you out of the arena.
"You were fantastic today!" he smiles, holding you and pulling you into a kiss.
"Yeah? You liked the new twist i did?" you ask, your routine today being one of the hardest you'd ever done. You mascara had infact started to run, from the sweat building on your forehead throughout the day.
"I like everything you do"
You guys both went back to the hotel, packing up all of your gear that had been here for the past month you'd stayed in Korea for. Once you were sure you hadn't left anything behind you made your way to the airport.
Kimi now only had a month until Australia, his personal trainer had come with you to Korea to help him train while he was out there supporting you.
Now, you'd train while you were travelling with Kimi. Finding ice while on the road with him was always difficult, but finding places to just work out and keep your fitness up was never hard as you'd train alongside Kimi. It was one of the ways to spend extra time with him during the season when he was most busy.
In the free month before Australia you started your research on where you could go in Melbourne to skate, you found somewhere that Kimi was happy with you going too as it wasn't too far from the hotel you'd be staying in or the race track for if anything went wrong.
"Will you watch me on the Sunday though?" he'd asked you as you were both lying in bed the night before you were due to fly to Australia.
"When have I ever not?" you ask, turning over in bed to look at him.
"Hmmm, I can for sure think of one time..." he smirks looking over you.
"If your talking about China, almost 10 years ago that doesn't even count!" you laugh, poking his cheek a little.
Your husband never failed to amaze you, his striking blue eyes and his soft blonde hair was what initially drew you in. But it was your first interaction with him that made you fall for him fully.
It was the Autumn of 2008 and you were 22 and you had just won your second Gold Medal in China, you'd stayed there for the months after the games as they left the Beijing Olympic Park open and it seemed like a good place to stay and to train.
You managed to get tickets to other sporting events in the months you stayed there such as Snow Boarding, Golf but the best one was when the Chinese Grand Prix came about.
You were active on the socials you had back then, and so it wasn't hard for Sauber BMW to reach out to you and give you a guest pass.
You'd been walking round the paddock, just investigating when you'd bumped right into the Finnish Ferrari driver. He had just stared at you while holding a tight grip on your wrist so you didn't fall over.
You remember him asking if you were okay, and some other questions that you hadn't heard fully as your brain had gone foggy at the sound of his soft, yet deep voice.
It was a little embarrassing, when he'd tried to speak Finnish to you, and then decided on English, but with no reply he was left stumped and awkwardly standing there.
He'd soon left after that but you were on each other's minds for the whole day. You tried to keep up conversations with the BMW drivers Robert and Nick but your mind kept drifting the the Finnish Driver for Ferrari.
He found you after the race, and just stared at you for a while before you made the first move speaking to him. And the rest was history.
You spent the next 5 years together as partners, it was convenient for someone like Kimi who raced all through the year apart from summer and winter to end up with someone in a sport who only competed for a month in the summer and winter. It meant that they also still got a break with each other.
After 5 years, Kimi let the big question unload and now you'd been married for 5 years.
"Of course, my love! You know that!" you smile, pulling him closer to you. You tuck yourself into his surprisingly warm embrace, considering his nickname was 'Iceman' he was the warmest person you'd ever had the privilege of meeting.
"I was thinking ..." he breathes, his voice a little higher and whiny than normal.
"Mmmmm, you don't do that often?" you tease, a hand running up and down his back.
"Well, I'm the ice man, your the Ice Queen... i was thinking maybe it's time we have an Ice Baby?" he whispers in the softest most unsure tone you'd ever heard.
"You think now's a good time?" you ask, and thinking about it... it was. You yourself had two years before the next Olympics in 2020, and Kimi was at a point in his career where he could leave and live comfortably if he needed and wanted to.
"I haven't told you this, but they want the Sauber kid in my spot. I'll be going to Alpha Romeo next year. I feel like I've done what i can and I've had my time in the sport... and we aren't getting any younger. Especially me..." he jokes, being 44 now.
"Mmmmmm I think now is the perfect time" you smile.
Flash forward to the Austin Grand Prix and you were 6 months pregnant. You'd already announced it and so many people were excited for you and Kimi, through the season he had loads of interviews. All against his will of course but people saw a different side to him when he talked about you and the soon to be baby.
It was a great race for Kimi in Austin, he pulled through with his first win of the season, valuable points that helped contribute towards his position in the drivers standings.
"So Kimi, first win of the season today! How are you feeling?" an interviewer asks, he was sat in a panel with some of the other drivers in a debrief.
"It was good to get a win, this season has been tough. We've had an interesting year with veteran drivers like myself, Seb, Fernando and Lewis being pushed by newer or younger drivers who are proving to be good competition like Charles, Max and Pierre" he answers.
"There have been rumors that you wont be here with us next season?" he pushes and Kimi roles his eyes.
"If I'm not it's not an issue... racing is my hobby that i get paid to do. I'll leave when i want to" he admits without letting anything slip that Ferrari wouldn't want to come public knowledge.
"Lets move on to you Lewis..."
And for the rest of the interview all he could think of was coming back to you.
Once your daughter was born in January before the start of the 2019 season and Kimi moving to Alfa Romeo everyone on the grid wanted to meet her. So of course, you were obligated to come to Australia for pre-season testing. Your 3 month old being so intrigued at the busy rush of everything around her.
She was a fan and driver fav around. Everyone had a picture with her and introduced themselves as her uncle and that they would look after her. People like Lewis, Seb and Charles all came with little gifts for her, Seb even had someone make her a custom team Ferrari top so she could fit in with her father and her Uncle Sebastian.
"Today was amazing!" you sighed as you leaned into your husband who currently held your daughter against his bare chest.
"Mmmm, I think you should both take a break though, at least until Summer break and join me afterwards" he smiles, knowing that the heavy time change from Monaco to Australia wasn't good for your or the baby.
"Well, I may as well come to Bahrain with you... its on the way back. But I will leave after that" you smile, pulling him in for a kiss.
"I love you, thank you for giving me this life" he smiles looking between you and his daughter.
"I wouldn't have it any of way" you grin.

Baking together
Something original? Finally? Yeah.
“Can someone explain to me why we are burning down Maverick’s kitchen instead of just going to Dunkin’?” asked Halo with flour on her nose.
“Well, bonding exercise,” answered Javy, too busy piping icing on his sugar cookies to look up.
Natasha looked darkly at the bowl of dough in front of her. “The only bonding I wanna do right now is join the hand-mixer with your nuts.”
The four men in the kitchen winced at the threat. Jake eased away from her slowly, taking with him his food colorants and his batter. God forbid she ruined his masterpiece.
Bradley, casually watching from his perch on a countertop, snorted. “You all know Mav is just going to use them to get in the good graces of the officer’s wives?”
“How is that even possible?” asked Bob, wrist tiring from where he is wiping heavy cream.
Bradley shrugged. “I don’t know, man, I’m not a forty-years-old woman left too long at home.”
“Somehow,” Jake said, “I feel like it doesn't play in his favor in the long term.”
“Yeah,” Bradley admitted. “Thank god Ice is here to get him out of his shit.”
“Yes,” said Maverick, entering the kitchen with a carton of eggs. “Thank god for Ice. Now, please, don’t drop any more eggs.”
“Must be nice to have friends in high places,” Jake commented.
Mav hummed. “Even better to have a husband in high places.”
Jake’s egg slipped from his hand and smashed on the countertop. It rang in the silence.
Natasha snorted and applied herself back to her dough. Everybody stared at her.
“What?” she asked to their confusion. “That’s a good one.”
A wave of relief came over Jake. A joke, of course. He didn’t have to deal with the emotional impact of being in the COMPACFLT’s kitchen.
Mav looked at them all, one by one, exasperation clear on his face. “Listen, I don’t usually bother with it, but I’m stuck as your CO for the foreseeable future, so I thought I might as well. I am married. To Tom Kanzansky.”
Jake needed at least another coffee to bother with any of this shit. As the kitchen erupted into chaos, he started to open the cupboard to find some.
He turned the coffee maker on and Bradley handed him two mugs. He had a worried crease between his eyebrows, his eyes intent on Jake’s face. Jake shrugged it off, focus on the strong smell of caffeine.
Once he had a full mug in hand, he turned back to the kitchen and the ongoing bickering and asked with a clear voice, “How did you deal with DADT?”
He regretted it almost immediately. Maverick’s face soured a bit, the darkness of memories veiling his smile lines.
“Well, we didn’t really.” said the Iceman in person, appearing from behind Maverick’s shoulder.
Everyone straightened, saluting. Kazansky shook his head. “At ease please, we’re not here in any official capacity.”
“I thought you weren’t here today?” asked Maverick, face softening, turning to his spouse.
Kazansky squeezed his husband’s shoulder reassuringly. “I was in my office, heard the commotion.” His eyes found Jake’s. They were chilly. “To answer you, Lieutenant Seresin, there was nothing to do except keep it quiet. We kept it a secret from our friends and family when we could. I believe the pressure of keeping my partnership quiet in my early career was a good exercise to what a promotion can do to a man.”
Jake didn’t have an answer to that.
“But please, do tell me about what Maverick has enrolled you into doing. He seems to believe that your efforts might ease the burden of caring for him.”
“Burden! People love my Halloween baskets.”
“Because you never actually bake any of it,” Bradley said, still not doing anything useful in this kitchen. Jake felt a quiet sense of betrayal. He knew, there was no way around it.
“Never do you, right about now,” Jake said, handing the cookie batter to him.
“What?”
“Well,” Natasha said easily. “We did label this as a bonding activity. Get mixing, Bradshaw.”

Headcanon Series #10
Icemav got married as soon as DADT wasn't a thing anymore and now at the end of every meeting, Iceman somehow always ends up bitching about all the stupid things his husband did over the last week. Usually the conversation starts with someone approaching him with "I heard of you and that Maverik guy. Congratulations, Admiral. How long had that been going on? (Since 1986) Woah, really? (Yes) Didn't peg you the risky guy. Must have been hard all those years. (You have no idea.)" The other Admirals absolutely love the stories about Pete 'Maverick-I-am-so-stupid-but-still-somehow-adorable' Kazansky and later also Bradley 'He-is-growing-up-so-fast-and-already-acts-like-a-mini-version-of-Mav-help' Bradshaw-Kazansky. And one day when Ice sits down at the table and goes through the papers for the meeting, he sees a new program item at the bottom of the agenda. It reads "Keeping up with the Kazanskys". He sends Pete a picture with the text "Congrats, Mav. You are officially a celebrity." Mav finds this hilarious.

Relief
Requested: yes
Summary: Your husband figures out how to give you some relief during the late stages of your pregnancy.
Word count: 0.6k
Warnings: pregnancy.
Pairings: Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazansky x wife!reader
Tumblr media
Waves gently splashed on the sand as you walked down the shore. Tom was a few feet in front of you, laying a picnic blanket out carefully. You smiled at the sight, hand resting on your large bump. Your baby was due in just over three weeks, meaning that in less than a month you and your husband would have an addition to the family. The two of you had been trying for a baby for the past year and a half. You were just about to give up when you finally got pregnant with your baby boy.
Your husband lifted his head as you got closer. With a smile, he stretched out his hand and pulled you toward him. “How’re you doing, baby?” He questioned as he pressed a kiss to your forehead. His hands settled on the side of your bump.
His tanned skin was warm from the sunlight as you gripped his forearm. There was a soft, loving smile on your face as you stared into his eyes. “I’m good. Happy we’re here.” Lately, it seemed as if you and your husband had spent no time together. This was going to be one of the last times that the two of you would be able to go out alone for a while. In a few weeks, you would have a permanent addition to your family.
Ice grinned down at you, thumb gently stroking over your belly. One last kiss was pressed to the crown of your head before he turned around. The pilot kneeled down, fixing a few things up. He sat down on the multicolored blanket. Patting the spot next to him with a smile, he held a hand out to you.
It took a second, but eventually, you were ready to sit down. On your way down, however, you froze, setting a hand on your bump and standing back up. Ice was by your side in a matter of seconds. There was a worried look on his face as he held you up. His eyes moved up and down your frame quickly, looking for anything that might be wrong.
“I’m okay,” You assured him. “My back’s just sore.” He still didn’t look convinced.
Tom moved behind you, causing a confused look to rise on your face. His arms wound around you, hands settling just below your bump. When realization struck you, you moved to shake your head. You really didn’t need him to do that. You’d be fine in a few seconds.
“C’mon,” He murmured, breath fanning across the back of your neck. You relaxed back into him, hands settling on his forearms. Your husband pressed a chaste kiss to the skin behind your ear. “Just let me help you.”
The next thing you knew, Tom was gently lifting up your bump. Unbeknownst to you, a pleasured and relieved sigh fell from your lips. Instantly, the weight on your shoulders and lower back disappeared. What could only be described as a moan fell from your lips. Tom smiled, glad that you were finally feeling some relief.
You stood there like that for the next few minutes, leaning back onto Ice as he held up the weight of your bump. Your eyes fluttered shut and you basked in the warmth of the sun as you let the tension roll off you in waves.
After about five minutes, Ice slowly began to release your baby bump. You sighed as the pressure of the weight returned to your lower back. Your eyes opened slowly, squinting at the bright light of the sun. “Feeling better?” He whispered against the shell of your ear. You nodded, squeezing his arm gently as you leaned back against him. Ice smiled warmly and tightened his arms around your waist.
a/n: Hope you all enjoyed this cute little fic! Feel free to send in any requests.

Yes, I used the TGM Squad as the kids for everyone who had children in the movie
The guys all have a work past with Viper
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He takes a seat at the counter, minding his own business as he reads a menu.
You smile as you walk inside, you always love coming here and not just because you get to see Penny and Pete, your favorite couple at the restaurant but because you get to make your waffle buildings.
‘Maybe today I’ll build a hut. Oh, and for the steam we can use coffee.’
Penny notices there’s a little pep in your step while she hands you a menu. “How are you doing, Butterfly?”
You giggle, “I’m doing just fine.”
She smiles and tells you your table is free.
He sees you enter the restaurant, sitting down in one of the empty booths in the middle of the row.
Penny turns around filling another customer’s coffee, she notices the looks he’s sending your way and needs to stop it before things can progress, you don’t need any more heartache (even if you don’t remember it today).
It would also save him from meeting your dad, who’s in charge of the port, Viper aka Mike or your cousin, Iceman aka Tom.
“I wouldn’t,” she tells him.
He furrows his brows and turns towards the waitress. “I’m sorry, what did you say?”
“You’ll only find yourself heartbroken if you try to pursue her.”
“What makes you say that?”
She purses her lips; she doesn’t find it necessary to tell him of your accident. But then she realizes he’s new and must be one of the few new cowboys that came into town.
“You’re gone for more than half of the year doing what you do. You’ve never met her but if you did and it was time to leave both of you would be crushed. Imagine how much that for a second.”
“Maybe she’d come with me.”
“She-” She sighs at the wound of glass breaking. “Excuse me while I go kick my husband out of the kitchen.”
“I didn’t do it on purpose, Pen.”
“Out of the kitchen, Maverick," a new voice says.
He doesn't know it, but it was the actual cook, Marcus.
He sighs, pushing the doors open, taking a seat beside the man. “Sounds like you did good there.”
The dejected man chuckles, “yeah.”
“Hey. You happen to know that girl sitting in the booth, would you?”
Pete glances over his slumped shoulder. “What’s it to you?”
“Woah. Woah. Why is everyone so aggressive? I was just asking a question.”
“A question that shouldn’t be asked.”
“Okay. Message received.”
“You seem like the type who won’t take no for an answer?”
Leonard chuckles, “am I really that transparent?” He chuckles to himself as he takes a sip of his coffee until he turns back to look at Pete and realizes how serious this whole thing is. “Oh, shit. Sorry, I just thought-”
“She wouldn’t go for a guy like you,” a voice says sitting on the other side of the rancher.
The two men angle their bodies to hear the man better.
Pete gives him a sarcastic smile. “Yeah, thanks for that, Cougar. We don’t need to give it any more ideas.”
“First off, it has a name and oh, she’s trying to make a door.”
The two look back and focus on you trying to get the finishing touches to your waffle house done.
He debates on walking over to you after hearing everyone’s warnings.
Clearly no one here wants to see anything bad happen to you if they’re this willing to stop him before he could try anything.
He pushes himself out of the chair, grabs a toothpick before heading over to you.
“Hey,” he starts off not to startle you entirely before sticking the toothpick in place, opening and closing the door to show you how well it works. “I thought this might help you a little more.”
You glance up at him, giving him a smile. “Well, then I guess the only thing I can say is thank you. To be honest, it probably would have taken me five minutes to figure it out, so again, I thank you for saving me from any potential embarrassment.”
Leonard lifts his hat, “I always do what I can to help a beautiful lady such as yourself.”
“Ah, I bet you say that to everyone you see then.”
He chuckles. This certainly isn’t what he was expecting when he walked over, it's different, nice even. “May I,” he gestures to the empty side of the booth.
“Please, I’d like to look a little less pathetic in front of, well everyone here.”
“I don’t think that’s possible.”
“You flatter girls to get them in your bed and expect that very thing to happen, don’t you?”
“Uh- well,” he stutters.
You shrug, “doesn’t matter now. I’m just happy to have some company even if it’s just for a minute or two.”
“Well, then I’m happy to be of service.”
You dazzle him with another smile.
This is different from the other times he's gone out with girls.
You lift your watch to check the time. “Oh, looks like it's time for me to go. Sorry,” you sheepishly shrug as you reach for your bag.
“Uh- oh, okay. Yeah, I guess it’s time I went back to work.”
You get up and barely walk past him when you stop. “Is that you?”
“Is what me?”
“The farm smell?”
His mouth opens into an “o” making it obvious he now knows what you’re talking about. “Oh, yeah. Perks of being a rancher. Sorry about the smell. I didn’t realize it was so bad.”
You shake your head. “No, it’s- it’s not that. It’s just- it's more of a comfort thing. It reminds me of my family because my dad and my cousin are in the ranching business, and this is- the smell of, well the farm, is basically what I grew up with.”
He nods, “okay, good to know I don’t smell too much like shit.”
You chuckle, shaking your head. “Happy to help but I seriously have to go now.”
“Okay.”
You head over to Penny and pay her before saying bye to everyone.
Leonard shakes his head once he sees your car leave. “She sure is something else.” He then heads over to his car, sneakily watching you leave.
-
He spends the night talking to Rick, watching his kids. “So, you gonna ask her out?”
“Me?” Leonard shakes his head, pulling Rick’s youngest, Javy, away from the fence before his beloved (crazy) goat comes over and towards the edge to scare the kids.
The rancher isn't going to have his headbutting, crossed eyed goat injure another one of his friends' kids (even if it's on them because they didn't listen). “I- no.”
“You like her?”
The kids’ “ooh” at their dad’s comment.
“What? No. She’s just- she’s... busy?”
“Excuses.” He pushes himself off the fence, “come on kids. Your uncle needs alone time to process the fact that he’s a wimp.”
The kids mumble wimp under their breaths as they walk by.
He’s left alone with his thoughts.
-
“Did she get offered any drugs today?” Mike asks his nephew.
Tom shakes his head, “no and you know she wouldn’t take anything anyway.”
“She wouldn’t know.”
The blond glances over at the older man.
“Don’t give me that look boy.”
Neither of them says anything else as they go their separate ways before going out to the garage so they can repaint the wall.
Nick and Carole walk to the open space, "hey guys."
"Do you know what got her in such a happy mood today?" Mike asks.
The couple glance at one another.
"When we went to get food, Penny said that one of the new ranchers came in and talked to her, but I don't know what happened," Carole tells him.
"A new rancher?"
She nods. "Yeah, he's the only one here who wears his hat twenty-four seven."
"And you don't know anything about this?" Tom asks Nick.
The mustached man narrows his eyes at him, "if we knew anything else we would have told you."
"I'm just checking, mother Goose. No need to get your p-"
Mike smacks his nephew on the back of his head. "Stop it. Nick take another roll and again, thank you for the food, Carole. If you could just-"
"Set it on the counter for later, I'd be happy to."
"How's life been with the baby?"
"It's been great. I know it makes her sad that we can't bring him around here. All they've wanted since they were kids was for their kids to be friends and hangout all the time."
Mike sighs, "yeah."
Carole sneaks up the stairs to check on you. She barely opens the door and sees you standing there, a smile breaks across her face. She's happy to know that you're safe and sound for another day.
-
The next day is a weird one... for Leonard.
He had no idea what was going to happen when he made his way to the restaurant, and he most certainly wasn’t expecting you to not remember him (and mean it).
Sure, he’s had a few girls say they don’t remember him but after some persuading and mentions of certain clues, they break, this time with you though, not so much.
A few minutes passed after you ran out until someone explained to him why he shouldn’t continue doing what he’s doing.
“Everyone knows but,” Penny sighs. “She was in an accident that killed her mom and left her with what the doctors believe to be permanent brain damage.”
That is the last thing Leonard was expecting to learn about you. “All those light threats make sense now.”
“Now that you know, are you going to keep trying to date her?” Penny asks him. "Because if you’re not and you break her heart, you can just leave now. We won’t tolerate that kind of behavior.”
He nods and finishes his coffee, coming up with a few ideas.
-
Rick lounges on his couch, as usual, and watches as his friend jots down a few things. “You must really like this girl if you’re so willing to do just about anything for her.”
Leonard shrugs, “I don’t think that’s it.”
“Well, you’re doing something really nice for her, someone you’ve met a few times. As for me, your best friend barely gets a birthday card.”
“You’ve been giving yourself your own gift every year.”
“Oh, yeah and what’s that?”
“Your kids.”
“Damn, you’re good.”
-
He sits at the counter in front of the kitchen, waiting for you to come in so he can ask to eat with you.
You enter, at the same time as always, greeting Penny and Pete before sitting down to look at the menu.
He stands up and walks over to you, “hey, is this seat taken?”
You look up from the menu, “yeah, that’s my boyfriend's seat.”
“Oh, it is?”
You nod, “and he won’t be happy to know that some random guy sat there while talking to his girlfriend.”
“What if we say we’re just friends?”
“Are we though? I mean, I don’t even know your name.”
“Leonard.”
“I wasn’t asking. Look, I gotta go.”
Everyone hears the commotion outside and runs out to see what’s happening, Penny and Leonard being the fastest to get outside when they hear your voice.
“It’s not- it’s October thirteenth.”
Nick slams his car door closed before rushing over, wrapping his arms around you, wanting to give you some kind of protection.
Leonard takes a step forward, ready to tell the cop everything when Penny gets to him first.
Pete grabs the cowboy, “you and Goose are gonna take her home. She needs to be with her family right now. She needs comfort.”
He nods, taking his words into consideration.
The boys get you into the car, but the ride home is a blur, you don’t even know if you’ve responded to Leonard.
-
Your father and cousin are outside before you know it.
"What happened?" Mike asks, taking in your state of distress.
Nick looks up at the older man with sad eyes. "She found out again."
He closes his eyes, rubbing his chin.
Tom comes to your other side, the two men helping you inside.
The mustached man stops the rancher before he could step any further onto his front porch. "I'm gonna have to stop you right there."
Leonard furrows his brows. "What do you mean?"
"You being here isn't good for her."
"What does that mean?"
"This is something we've done before. You have never been involved."
"How would you know?"
"You don't know her, and you don't need to concern yourself with her. I'm asking you once and only once. It's time for you to go."
The man turns around, not even waiting to see if he's going to walk away.
Nick peaks through the window, whispering, "what are you doing?"
Leonard rushes closer. "He kicked me out."
"He doesn't want her to be more heartbroken than she is. Are you here for her or for you?"
"What- why are you asking?"
"If you're here because you want to date her, I'll let you in. If not, you can turn your sorry ass around."
He didn't even have to hesitate. "Open the door."
The blond smiles and lifts the windowpane higher. "You said you'd open the door."
"I'd like to not have my ass kicked too bad, thank you."
He rolls his eyes and crawls through, listening to your cries as you listen to what you went through again.
"Can we- I want to talk to the doctor." You quietly hiccup, "I'm sure I've already talked to him but let me go again. Please?" You ask your father.
He nods and you all are off to the facility you were in for some time after your accident.
-
"It's the same thing I've told you before," Dr. Simpson finishes.
You nod, "I'm sure you have, and I appreciate you taking the time to explain it to me again."
Leonard and Nick were stuck talking to one of the patients, (ten second) Sam.
"Hi, I'm Sam."
They nod and introduce themselves to him and continue to do so until Tom grabs them by their collars, hauling them out of the building.
"You two idiots wanted to stay. Stop getting distracted."
-
Once you got home, you decided to go to your room and write in your journal, needing to process everything.
"Would it- could I go talk to her?"
Mike silently nods.
"Go get 'em, tiger."
Nick averts his gaze your dad's stern look.
-
He knocks on the door, waiting for you to answer as he removes his hat.
The door swings open.
You stare at him through your lashes. "What do you want?"
"To talk. Check on you."
"I'm fine. Go home. I'd say I'll talk to you tomorrow, but I'll forget you by midnight." You walk back into your room, leaving the door open.
He takes that as an invitation and enters. "I- uh-"
"I don't want you to feel like you have to stay after everything you’ve learned. I would understand if you didn't want to talk anymore."
"No!" He nearly screams before realizing his mistake and sits down. "I mean, I don't mind it. This- your twenty-four-hour memory is no problem. I- I actually think you're worth getting to know, every day."
You don't give him a verbal response as you nod, unsure of how to respond.
As you two bask in the silence, the other's downstairs are preparing for the next day.
-
“You coming to the garage or are you going to call Carole?” Tom asks him after his uncle walks out of the room.
“What do you think?”
Your cousin rolls his eyes, “still as lazy as the day I met you.”
“Hey, I am offended.”
“Good.”
Nick shakes his head, mumbling a variety of comebacks that he would never say out loud because he values his life.
-
Leonard reaches around, rubbing your shoulder, not realizing the time or what’s about to happen.
You wake, opening your eyes and start screaming, alerting everyone in the house.
Tom and Mike make it to your room in no time.
The older man hauls the rancher out of your room and out of the house. “I thought I told you to stay away.”
“You might have.”
“Then why aren’t you?”
“Sir, I really care about your daughter and honestly, the thought of showing her how much I care about her everyday sounds-”
“Like you’ve got some kind of ulterior motive.”
“That hurts. No, I mean, telling her every day that I care for her and making her fall for me again and again. I can’t explain it but, I know I’m the right guy for her. Everyone here cares for her and I’d like to count myself lucky enough to be a part of that community. I know you think I’m messing with her but that’s not true and even if you push me away, I will still be here and continue to stand by her.”
Mike has a lot to think about now.
He nods, “don’t come around today. She needs time to heal and take it all in, you hear me?”
“Yes, sir.”
“I’m sure I'll hear from you later. Now go.”
Leonard smiles as he leaves. He spends the day making a gift, as a precaution he doesn’t come by for a couple of days.
Leonard has a lot of things to think about.
If he stays and builds a relationship with you, he’s going to be putting his dreams on the back burner; something he’s had his mind set on for a long, long time now.
Can he, do it?
Is it worth it?
As much as it hurts him to think about, he needs to. But then he thinks of you again and it is.
He makes a mental note to email his response.
-
He knocks on the door and Tom answers it. “You’re back? I thought you decided to leave.”
The rancher shakes his head, “nope. Can’t get rid of me that easily. I- uh- I actually made something and I want to play it for her. I don’t know if it’ll help but, you never know.”
He steps aside, giving Leonard enough room to walk by.
“Thanks.”
You and your father enter the living room, seeing him placing the tape in the VHS player.
The tape plays before either of you could ask what's going on.
Your name flashes across the screen, drawing your attention along with mentions of the accident and Bradley, Carole and Nick's son who's four now.
You touch the scar hidden by your hair.
Tom stands back, waiting for what you decide to do.
Mike rubs his hand across his face. "Did you do this?"
He nods. "I did."
You take a deep breath and grab his arm, bringing him with you.
-
"Where are we going?"
You don't answer him.
"Should I be worried?"
You stop in front of your car. "Do you ever shut up?"
"I could."
"Do it now."
"Stop being mean to me or I swear I'm gonna fall in love with you."
You roll your eyes. "I need to talk to you, and I don't want to do it with my guard dogs nearby."
"Oh, sure."
He opens the door for you, earning a furrowed brow look from you.
You don't say anything as you drive to the one place no one knows about.
"Are we-"
"The accident site, yeah. I didn’t know that at the time but now that I do, it doesn't change the special value it holds."
"That's good." He turns to you, seeing the way you're staring at him. "What?"
"We need to end this."
"End what?"
"You know what."
"Honestly, I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Leonard-"
He cuts you off before you can continue. "You remember my name?"
"If you'd let me get a word in, you'd know that the only reason I know of you is because I have a journal. I've been keeping notes of everything, I just- I never realized it."
"And that means we need to not see each other anymore?"
"Exactly."
"Why?"
"You."
"I'm not following."
"You," you close your eyes, huffing through your nose. "You're so sweet and have been since we first met but you're going to get hurt."
"What makes you think that?"
"You've stayed longer than any guy ever has but to do this every day is just- I know it's a lot."
"It's nothing."
"See, that!" You point at him. "That right there is exactly why I'm ending this. You've got such a pure heart and I can't be the reason it breaks when you realize it's not worth it to stay."
"Who's to say that I'll stop feeling what I do?"
You avoid eye contact as your tears blur your vision. "You will, just like I know how my father and Tom are tired of it. They'll never admit it, but everyone has their breaking point and I think us meeting and seeing each other has pushed theirs. I'm really sorry, I like you. I do but I'm doing this to protect us."
You offer him a weak smile as the tears spill from your eyes and down your cheeks.
Before you leave to go back inside, you hand him your journal.
He pulls you back and kisses you.
Your first kiss with one another and it's amazing but can't last forever.
You pull away, walking inside with heavy steps; barely able to keep yourself together.
Tom nor Mike stops you, but they do make sure to call Nick and Carole, knowing you'll need a good day tomorrow even if you don't remember it.
-
Leonard doesn't come into the diner for a few days.
Carole sits with you at your job while Rick, Nick, and Pete drive Mike and Tom to see him off.
"What are you guys doing here?"
"We couldn't let you leave without saying goodbye," Rick tells him.
"That's nice but how do you know these guys?" Leonard points between the guys in the group.
"We used to work together before I decided to settle down," his friend explains.
"Is that what you've been telling people?" Pete asks, staring at the man with a confused expression.
Rick glances at the man, "what are you talking about? Of course, that's what I've been telling people. It's the truth."
Pete shrugs, "I just thought-"
"Thought what?"
Nick smacks the two across the back of their heads. "Alright you idiots, there's a time and a place to talk about this. Now is not it."
The two grumbled, rubbing the now sore spot.
"We came here to talk to Wolfman before he left."
"You told them?"
"We all worked for him," Rick points to Mike. "Of course, I'm going to tell them."
"Anyway," the oldest chimes in. "We're here to send you off but not before giving you this." He hands him a CD.
"Really?" The rancher asks, not understanding the sentimental thought behind it just yet.
Mike nods, "I think you'll like it. Check side B, song four. Everything will make sense after that." The older man walks away, letting the others take their time in following.
Nick pats Leonard on the back, saluting him before wishing him luck. "I wish you luck, my friend."
"I'm pretty sure you just jinxed me."
"That's for the theater and you're going to need it one way or another."
The rancher frowns.
Pete chuckles, "you really leaving?"
The blond shrugs. "What else can I do? She told me she doesn't want me, and I can't force myself into her life, you know. Whether she remembers me or not. I'm going to respect her decision."
"That's really nice of you, not everyone would do that."
"I keep telling you I'm not like everyone."
"And I understand why. You're going to do great, kid."
The man in the cowboy hat purses his lips as his brows knit together in confusion. "If I'm not mistaken, we're the same age."
"Potato, potahtoe."
"Not the same."
Pete smirks and slaps his arm before jogging to Mike's car.
"You really want to leave?" Rick asks, standing beside him, resting his arms on the fence. "Because I'm not buying this whole "I can do this" thing. I mean, from what I've heard it sounds like you love her but who am I to assume."
Leonard shakes his head, "you heard wrong."
"That's a load of bull and you know it."
"You'll never know."
"The kids are going to miss you."
"They'll find something else to occupy them."
“You know they won’t.”
“Whatever you say, man.”
Rick’s hand hovers over his friend’s shoulder, he doesn’t pat him like everyone else had (knowing he’ll be back in no time). “You’re an idiot.”
Leonard lets out a dry, “thanks.”
Tom gives him a knowing look, “you know I’m right.”
“If you’re just going to be a jerk, leave with the others. I don’t want to talk to you.”
“You said you were going to stay by her side no matter what. What happened to that guy?”
“She made the decision. She doesn’t want me around; thinks she’s going to save me from heartache or something.”
“You’re an idiot.” Tom walks away, leaving him with his thoughts.
Leonard shakes his head, not understanding half of what just happened; all he knows is that he’s offended. He hops in his truck, his heart heavy and mind full of useless thoughts; he places the CD in the car player.
Half forgetting he’s had the damn thing this whole time and never once thought to use it. He skips to the song Mike told him to play.
He’s barely on the road for ten minutes and gets out of his thoughts, his fingers stop tapping along to the beat on the steering wheel when he slams on the brakes. “Holy shit! Holy- no way. No way!”
His smile is as wide as can be. “I knew the old man liked me.”
He turns the car around and heads towards the office you visited when you were told about the accident again.
-
He runs through the door, trying to sneak in by the security guards before anyone can kick him out.
“Hey, where do you think you’re going?” He turns to face them, removing his hat.
He shrugs, not saying a word.
Maybe playing dumb would be easier?
The taller of the two stares at him with raised brows as his partner takes in Leonard’s appearance. “Go on in.”
Ron turns to Charles, “what’s wrong with you? What if he was a murderer or some psycho?”
“Did he look like a psycho to you?”
“No but-”
“But nothing. I got good vibes from him.”
“What did you smoke for breakfast?”
“I’m not answering that,” Charles says, checking the computer for today’s schedule.
“If someone gets murdered, I’m not protecting you.”
“Dick move.”
“Cya, man.”
“What?”
Ron pats his shoulder, “cover your ass. I’d remember that if I were you.”
-
Leonard runs into the room, eyes scanning all around and over anyone in the room, only to not find you, for the moment.
He wanders further into the room, tempted to ask around when he sees ten second Sam and decides not to, there’s too much time that could be wasted and he can’t waste a second right now.
You turn the corner, not noticing him as you help someone outline the outline of their sketch.
A voice calls out to you, and you turn, finding him.
“Hi? Do you- nevermind, stupid question. Could I- uh- could I talk to you for a minute?” He asks.
You know everyone here will be fine for a few minutes. You hesitate to answer him. “I- we can- just- just follow me.”
-
You two stand in your special art room. “Have we met before?”
His chin juts out. “What?” His eyes wander around the room, finally understanding.
“As you can see, I’ve seen you before. I mean, I know I’ve talked to you, but I don’t remember it. You- you haunt my dreams. I’ve seen us in my favorite restaurant, as if we were on a date and- and I don’t know if it was real or not.” He can see how it’s wracking your brain to try and remember something that won’t be there.
He nods, “we have. We’ve met a few times.”
“That’s all you’re going to say?”
He holds a journal in front of you, “if you really want to find out, read this. It’ll tell you everything.”
You stare at the cover, wondering if you should read it or not.
You hold it close to your chest and stretch your hand out for him. “Hi.”
He raises his brow but shakes your hand. “Hi?”
“We’re starting over.”
“Oh, that makes more sense.”
The door opens, “Hi, “I’m Sam.”
You purse your lips, trying to hold in your laughter.
“And our special moment has a little twist.”
“Leave Sam out?”
He nods, “we’re leaving him out.”
You nod and slowly remove your hand from his. “Hi, I’m Sam.”
“I swear to-”
-
You push open the door and cover your eyes when the sun hits you. Leonard turns around and smiles at the sight of you looking as beautiful as always. “Hey, you’re up.”
You nod, your eyes landing on your precious baby boy, Jake, pretending to be like his dad with ranching.
“How are you feeling this morning?”
Your daughter, Natasha, runs over to you with her arms open for a hug.
Everyone always says that a mother and her child share a special bond, in this case it’s true because you open your arms and scoop her up, holding her close to you, even if it is a little strange just finding out she’s your daughter after watching the video Leonard made for you.
“I’m okay, a little weird this morning.”
“I don’t blame you.”
You tilt your head up at him, staring at him like you’re trying to memorize his face. “I think Tom’s doing things he shouldn’t.”
He turns around, finding your cousin doing the exact opposite of what he told him to and hands Jake to your father so he can help your cousin from messing up his ranch (any more than he already has). “Son of a-”
“Language!” You and Mike shout.
“I wasn’t going to actually say it,” Leonard tells you two.
You and your dad share a look. “He’s your husband, you take care of it.” And he walks away.
“So rude,” you mumble to yourself.
“Hey guys!” Nick and Carole wave as Bradley runs towards Natasha (who hasn’t left your side until this moment).
You smile and wave back, hugging Carole tightly.
“Let's go inside and see what you have in your kitchen for breakfast.”
You lean in closer to her, whispering, “does he ever eat? I swear he is always raiding my pantry.”
“Fast metabolism.”
“I don’t buy it.”
“Can I tell you something?” She asks.
You nod.
“Neither do I.”
-
You, Carole, and Nick grimace at the sight of Leonard's friend and his coworker-
"Can they eat each other's faces somewhere else?" Nick mumbles. "I'm trying to eat here."
You and her share a look.
"You're still eating," his wife points out.
He shrugs. "I can't pass up when Sundown cooks. That'd be like disrespecting Penny."
Leonard walks through the door and grimaces. "You two need to stop trying to eat each other and enjoy breakfast. This is not what I imagined when I suggested you two go out."
Charlotte and Rick part from one another, offering weak apologies.
You and Carole can't help but laugh.
The rancher turns around at the sound of your laughter and knows that he wouldn’t trade this for the world.

New idea, here i come---*trips into it*
°°°
Mav and the daggers accidentally time travel back to the '86 summer, at Miramar. They try, they really try not to change anything, despite both Mav and rooster wanting to try, to dare. What could go wrong? But they don't do anything besides a quiet "oh, just be careful up there", that being something that sounds normal, not foreshadowing or past-future changing.
When they get back, though, everything changed, because Goose is standing right there, next to warlock and cyclone. And Iceman.
So, first thing first, both Mav and Roo just wrap themselves on Goose, definitely surprised, but it feels good, and he had been worried about them in the mission, so he just hugs and holds them back just as tight.
Then Mav moves towars Ice, to hug, and maybe smoothers the lines over his husband's forehead with a kiss. Except Ice steps back with a frown, there's a scar on his face that Mav is deadly sure wasn't there.
"what the fuck you think you're doing, Mitchell?!" he sounds angry, and worse, he sounds cold. Ice had never been cold with Mav, not even during the roughest paths. This is different. Wrong.
Mav blinks, confused.
"uhm... Giving my husband a hug?" he tries, but he doesn't sound so certain anymore.
Ice barks a laughter, he stares down at Mav, there's something in his eyes that feels so foreign. What have they done? How? What truly changed? He still feels the same for Ice, he loves him.
"husband? Like I would ever even love you, Mitchell."
Cold. Icy cold.
"i cover your sorry ass only because I made a promise. But oh, if I could go back and change everything I would without even thinking."he briefly congratulates with the daggers before turning and walking away.
A more and more confused Mav jogs after him despite goose's voice calling him back. He can't understand, he just can't. So he grasps at Ice's wrist and forces him to stop. Ice spins around, he looks... Furious. That's when Mav notices the dogtags at his neck, and the ring he knows so well dangling in between. It's not ice's, because his is still on his hand, though. It makes sense now, well, kinda. There's only one other person Ice, any Ice, in any time, cares that much about.
"touch me again, Mitchell," Mav takes an unconscious step back. "and there won't be any promise or guardian angel that will save you. I never understood what he saw in you to keep protecting you, but I know that his trust got him killed."
Slider? No. No, Slider never protected him or talked in his favor. Hell, he, hopefully jokingly, oppesed their wedding. But it was another slider, another time. One where Goose died.
"you weren't there, I was. When our jet went down because you did whatever the fuck you did. I was there to hold him when he-- he told me to keep you out of troubles in his stead. Because he knew. He fucking knew he was dying because you left us. And still he wanted to protect you."
He pokes hard at his chest and Mav is not sure if it hurts that much because Ice is strong or--
"you left us. Your wingmen. And Ron still had the guts to protect you. So, Mitchell, yes. I made a promise, but if I ever had a chance to have my partner back, believe me, you would be the first I'd sell."
Mav knows those words, they fall weird on ice's tongue, but he knows them because there had been a time when he said the same.
"I'd sell the whole world, if that could bring back Goose."
Ice leaves him there, stunned, and Goose finally approach him, with the daggers.
"seems like shit happened during the missions, didn't it?"
He smiles a bit sadly. Mav would say that it's fine. He has Goose back, why can't he shakes away the guilt then? Him and slider weren't exactly friends. More like acquainted because they both loved Ice. But is it worth? Having Goose back, is it truly worth?
They get back to their actual timeline, all of them, the one where Goose is dead and Ice is still his husband, and yes, they're all so damn exhausted that they may even start sleeping in the hangar, still in the flight suits, piled one on top of the others like puppies, uncaring if who might find them.
But the first thing Mav does, foreign guilt still lingering in his bones, is going search for Slider. Admiral Kerner, actually. And he finds him, sure he does, and perhaps it's Slider's turn to be confused and surprised when Mav just wraps himself on him and refuses to let go. And.. Oh, is he crying? Holy fuck why the hell is he crying?!
"what is it, Sli?"
Ice smiles when he answers the videocall, both so busy that meeting in person gets harder everytime.
"I don't know. Wanna tell me why your husband seems to suddenly love me and-- oh, no, don't you dare, you shorty. Drool on my uniform and I'm absolutely gonna drop your ass, I have a meeting in 30 minutes. Ice what the actual fuck?! Your husband is broken! Oh great... Drool on my shoulder and I have a meeting with the president because YOU can't come! Ugh..."
But Ice can't help but laugh more, whatever happened maybe things can be alright. (and he won't have to deal with his husband's flying antics on his own. He knows Slider all too well, he took him under his wing the first moment he saw him, he just won't ever say it aloud. But the fact that he has yet to drop Mav on the floor speaks loud enough, at least for Ice.)
"oh, Ice... The fledgings are pretty broken too, I think."
But there's amusement in his voice, as he turns the camera to show him the pile of puppy/aviators already sleeping soundly.
(if both Admirals now have several photos of them, it's only for their eyes.)

If people give shit to Mav because nobody believes he's married to someone with a boring name like Tom, when they ask Iceman who he's married to and he answers Pete, everybody smiles along, and yeah, yeah, it does make sense. Pete could be a lawyer, a kindergarten teacher, a doctor or a botanist, it wouldn't be very relevant because Pete is the man Admiral Kazansky goes on trips with, to hike in Yellowstone Park and to skydive that time he was bored and without anything to do. Pete is the man who sometimes makes him lunch and always, always, leaves little silly notes in the admiral's jacket when he has long meetings and conferences outside the national border. Pete, who asked Tom to marry him back in '91 and said yes when Tom asked in '11. Pete is a calm, normal, borderline boring, and composed person who loves the Admiral and likes a peaceful and relaxed life.
Yeah, exactly that Pete.
(But then Tom introduces his husband to them, and they can be admirals or secretaries or janitors alike, and everyone thinks that they really really don't know Admiral Kazansky at all.)
((Mav's favourite story is about that time Ice introduced him to Admirals Simpson and Cain. Years later, he's still crying for how much he laughs when he tells the tale.))

Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazansky x Reader
Platonic! Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell x Reader
[Masterlist]
[Previous Chapter] - [Next Chapter]
Warnings: Ice is sick, just a heads up if you forgot I was going to keep that bit. It’s really sad :(
30 years later and Maverick is back in Top Gun. This time to teach it. It’s his turn to deal with his past, but it’s going to be OK. You’re there to help him. Both of you have someone to look out for.
Admiral Tom Kazansky and yourself are still going strong. Married life is treating you well, but his health is taking a turn. Tom wants to do his best by Pete, but some things are out of his hands.
They both need you now more than ever.
Word count: 1.9k
Chapter Seven - It started with a cough
♡♡♡
I’m heading home. Call me if you need anything, otherwise, you know where I am. Stay out of trouble for my sake, please.
That was the message you had sent to both Maverick and Rooster.
You worried about them, of course you did, but you worried about your husband too. His voice sounded a little rough this morning, so you told him to take it easy. All he did was kiss you in response. You rolled your eyes and told him to eat his breakfast.
You packed your belongings and tied the scarf around his neck, which he spent the entire time just looking at you. You smiled as you straightened the fabric, feeling his eyes on you. You were trying hard not to blush too much. Even now he made you feel like a teenager in love.
He loaded your things into the car, and you tidied up the house to the best of your ability. Tough you hadn’t been here long, so there wasn’t much to do really.
Before setting off, you received a text from Rooster.
Bradley: Safe trip home. I’ll call round soon. I may need you again.
You smiled and replied with:
Any time, Bradley. My home is your home.
Tom drove you both back home.
When you both reached home, neither of you climbed out of the car right away. You both sat there looking up at your house. Your eyes then drifted to Tom, who must have felt your eyes on him and turned to look at you.
You smile.
“Home,” you whisper.
“Home,” he whispers back.
You climb out and grab your things, though Tom takes your bag off you when he gets out. You laugh as he smacks your hand lightly, preventing you from taking them off of him. You follow him up to the house, arm linked with his free one. When you reach the door, it’s pulled open quickly.
Nikki stands in the doorway glaring at her father.
“You!” She points at him, jabbing him in the chest a bit. You looked between the two with confusion. “Do you have any idea how hard he is to deal with when you’re gone?” She asks you.
“He can’t be that difficult,” you laugh.
“Uncle Ron would disagree with you,” she says, sighing. Nikki moves from the door and lets you both in.
“You’re probably right,” you reply. Tom laughs at that.
You let go of your husband and grab the bag from his hand, not giving him time to fight you back on it. You give him a charming smile as you walk past him and into your house, heading for the kitchen. Tom and Nikki follow you.
“He complained he didn’t like my tea,” Nikki tells you, leaning against the counter.
“You don’t make it the same,” he says quietly, giving her a cheeky look. Nikki crosses her arms and looks at him unimpressed.
“I make the exact same way!”
“No, you don’t.”
“Yes, I do!”
“No,” he shakes his head.
“Yes, I do!”
“Alright, alright, both of you give over!” You wave your hands up, done with the pair of them. “Your father likes to be difficult sometimes,” you tell Nikki.
“Not when he’s with you, he’s doesn’t.”
You turn to Tom who just looks at you proudly. You laugh, knowing that look. She’s right.
“I see how it is,” you say to him.
Tom shrugs lightly and walks past you, heading out into the garden where his grandchildren play. You chuckle softly as you watch him go, and then turn to Nikki.
“Has been alright?” You ask her.
Nikki bites her lip slightly, all sign of teasing now gone. She leans back against the counter with her hands laid out flat and shifts her weight forward.
“Actually, I’m not sure. I don’t know if it’s just because you weren’t here, but he’s sounding a little worse.”
You turn your head to the open door. You can’t see him now, meaning he’s moved further into the garden. You hear voices, so the grandchildren seem to have his attention.
“His voice, you mean?” You turn back to Nikki.
She nods her head.
“He, uh, he was coughing a little bit yesterday when I entered his office,” she tells you.
“He does sometimes. His throat is damaged, causes him to cough,” you tell her, trying to bring her some comfort.
“It sounded bad...”
You walk around the kitchen counter and pull her into a hug. Nikki leans into your embrace as you feel her relax a bit.
“I won’t leave again unless I need to.”
Nikki holds you that little bit tighter.
Tom chuckles as the kids run off with the dog further into the garden. He turns and takes a seat on one of the garden chairs. He relaxes back into it. Everything feels at peace again. When you’re gone, a piece of him is always missing and he becomes restless. Perhaps because of that time you left him. He hadn’t been the same after you were gone, and then he saw you again, his life seemed complete once more. He just had to work hard for your trust and love again.
His heart aches whenever you’re gone because there is still a fear you’re not coming back. He hates the feeling, but he can’t help it.
Tom Kazanksy is still, and always has been, absolutely in love with you.
A cough tumbles out of his lips. It’s not a little one, like he usually has. This one has him leaning forward in the chair with a fist over his lips, his other hand resting flat against his chest. His fingers curl into the end of the scarf and he grips it tightly.
His saving grace when it gets bad.
You step out of the doors and look around, finding your husband sitting in one of the chairs. You go to smile but stop instantly when you see him leaning forward. His whole frame is wracked with a coughing fit. You hurry over to him and quickly place your hand on his back, leaning forward to look at him. His eyes are closed, and he coughs into his fist. You pat his back firmly, but not hard.
The coughs soon subside.
You rub his back as he sits back and catches his breath.
“Tom?” You say his name softly. He holds up a finger as he tries to calm himself down a bit. He lets go of his scarf and takes a deep breath. His eyes open and he turns to you.
“I’m alright,” he says, but his voice is raw.
You shake your head.
“You can tell me when you’re not. Please don’t hide it, Tom. It’s getting worse,” you whisper.
He hates that sad look in your eyes. He reaches out for your hand; you give it to him. He pulls your hand to his lips and kisses the skin softly. You try not to cry as you watch him.
“Tom...”
He kisses your hand again. You close your eyes and bow forward, kissing the top of his head. You keep your lips there, feeling him. Your Tom.
“Please, don’t worry,” he whispers.
“It’s my job to worry.”
He chuckles softly at that. You kneel down in front of him and take his hands in yours. You run your finger over his ring slowly.
“I made a vow to you,” you remind him.
He smiles and grabs your hand again. He lifts your hand up and looks at your own ring.
“Me too,” he says.
You wanted to freeze time and spend eternity sitting like this with him and looking into his bright eyes, looking at that handsome smile. The moment is cut short when Nikki comes out.
“Dad, your office phone is ringing again,” she says, speaking quietly. She hated interrupting intimate moments like this between her parents.
He nods at her.
Nikki smiles and decided to chase after her children.
You let go of Tom’s hands and stand up.
“You go to your office and see to that phone, I’ll make you a proper tea,” you say, winking at him softly.
Tom chuckles and gets out of the chair. You go to head back inside, but he’s quick to grab you again and pull you into kiss. You chuckle against his lips softly and places your hands on his chest.
“You flirt,” you whisper.
“Only for you, honey,” he replies.
You grin as you both head inside, him to his office, you to the kitchen.
You’re halfway through making his tea when your phone lights up. You pour the water and then pick up your phone.
Bradley is calling you.
You answer.
“Bradley, hey. Calling so soon?” You chuckle softly.
“They all know.”
You stop what you’re doing to listen to him.
“They all know what?” You ask him.
“They all know about my dad. About him and Maverick. I guess they would eventually, I mean, I have his name, but I didn’t intend for them to find out.”
You stay silent.
“I had a bit of a fight with Hangman today. He saw a photo of my dad’s Top Gun class. Obviously, Maverick is in it too. He used it to antagonise me. If I fly like Maverick, I’m going to get myself killed. I’m a damn good pilot, and he doesn’t understand that. I can't fly like he does. People die. I don’t... I can’t...”
“Bradley...”
“What do I do?” He asks you. “What do I do?”
“I can’t tell you what to do, but I can tell you this. Whatever you hate Maverick for, it doesn’t change the fact that Nick Bradshaw, your dad, was his best friend. All they wanted was to graduate Top Gun together, and when... when the accident... happened, it broke Pete. It broke me too, but Mav walked out for a while. He graduated Top Gun, sure, but he did walk away at one point. Don’t let Hangman be the reason you walk too.”
There was silence one the other end for a moment. Though you could hear his breathing slightly.
“Thanks. You’re my voice of reason,” he says after a moment.
You smile.
“Anytime, Bradley. I’ve told you once and I’ll tell you again, you can call me anytime.”
“I can do this,” he says, though it mostly sounds like he is talking to himself. Still, you reply.
“I know you can. I believe in you Rooster. You’re where you belong. Don’t forget that,” you tell him.
Bradley smiles on the other end.
“I won’t. I’ll catch up with you soon,” he says.
“Please do!”
He hangs up. You look down at your phone for a moment and bite the inside of your cheek. He still has a long way to go, and a lot to learn, but you know deep down he can do this.
The sound of footsteps entering the kitchen bring your attention back up. Tom is standing there watching you.
“Who was that?”
“Bradley,” you tell him.
“Everything alright?” He asks.
“It will be.” You turn back to his tea and finish it up. “Come on you, back upstairs. You need to rest,” you tell him.
Tom watches you for a moment longer before he does as he’s told.
You try not to let your worry show when he coughs again. Your heart breaks with the sound. Tom has his back to you, but you know he’s in pain. You want to cry at the sound, but you refuse. You need to look after him.
Tom needs you most right now.

War Is Over
Tumblr media
Characters - Iceman x Maverick
Summary - Ice and Maverick spend their first Christmas with the Kazansky’s since DADT was repealed. It’s been 25 years since Tom has spent a Christmas at home and now he gets to do it with his husband.
Word Count - 1.9k
Warnings - none, good old fashioned holiday fluff
A/N - Happy Holidays y’all! This is based on the Christmas song Happy Xmas (war is over) and I really hope you catch my drift as to why! There are so many versions of this song but my favorite one and the one I listened to while writing this was the one by Miley Cyrus!
Ice and Maverick have been together for about twenty-five years by the time DADT is repealed. They’ve had twenty-five christmases spent in the privacy of Ice’s house, unable to invite over family to spend it with them. Ice’s parents had thought he was too busy to take off christmas, or when Ice would tell them he worked christmas so that people with children could spend it with them, they thought him a saint. For Maverick however he got to tell Carole about who he was spending Christmas with, and she even came a few times when Goose's family relented for a year. It seemed that being lovingly overbearing was a Bradshaw trait.
In the year of 2011 however, things changed. DADT was repealed in September, and the couple had come out to their colleagues. It was a big decision that Pete had deferred mostly to Tom on, given that his career was the one that’d be most affected. Pete was a Captain and liked staying there, and now legally they couldn’t clip his wings for it. But Tom was still up for promotion and had been in the running for COMPACFLT, and him coming out as gay and having a long time partner could severely hinder that. Tom had insisted regardless stating that he loved Pete more than his rank and that they’ve hidden for long enough.
They had simply filed the proper paperwork that anyone in what was technically an inner-office relationship would file and that was that. They didn’t go out of their way to tell people but also stopped hiding it. Pete changed his address to Ice’s house and stopped paying rent on his shitty one bedroom he rarely visited. A few things that did change was when Ice made his way to the place on base where Pete was currently working, he got a kiss hello. Ice even put the picture’s they have together up on his desk for anyone to see. They’d see one of them laughing that Slider had taken, one of them back when Bradley was still small, and one of Pete in a nice suit in the summer of ‘91 when they had unofficially gotten married.
Finally Christmas rolled around and they had both saved up more than enough leave and decided it was fitting to visit Ice’s family for Christmas. They had come out to Ice’s family first, even before they came out professionally. Ice had apologized to his mother, stating he just couldn’t risk anything, which she said she understood but told him he was in for the ear flick of his life for not inviting them to his wedding. Pete was grateful for his family’s pleasant reaction, he wasn’t sure how it would go down if it hadn’t.
Luckily Ice’s, and now Pete’s, family didn’t live too far away from their house in Fightertown so it wasn’t more than a few hours drive. They had planned to come up on the 23rd and leave the 26th staying at the Kazansky house under threat of death by both Mr and Mrs. Kazansky.
“Babe you packed a coat right?” Tom was loading the car and Pete just stared at him from their doorway.
“Tom, I don't even own a coat, do you know where we live?”
“Yes but we’re going further north than you’re used to and it might get chilly.” Tom was like an overbearing mother sometimes. In the best way.
“Tom, we're going to Santabarbra, not the Rockies.” he approached his tight ass of a husband and put his hands on his shoulders. “And besides, if I get cold you’ll be there to cuddle me after you tell me I told you so.”
Tom laughs at his husband's antics and gives him a quick kiss.
They’re on the road to Santabarbra within the hour and to Ice’s parents within three. They pull up to the house and see Ice’s mom waving frantically from the door as his dad tries to reign in his wife, failing and proving that the Kazansky men’s inability to control their spouses is passed down genetically.
“I think they’re excited to see you Tom.” Pete was all smiles, giddy for a real family Christmas for the first time since the last one he had with the bradshaws.
“Baby, you and I both know they’re more excited to see you.” And it was true, even as he was introduced as Ice’s friend and wingman, he was accepted into the family quickly.
It seemed that Mrs. Kasansky had grown impatient and was currently barrelling towards her son and son-in-law. When she reached the door she pulled Pete out and into the tightest hug he thinks he’s ever had.
“Oh Pete I’m so glad you’re here! I always knew one day Tommy would bring home someone nice, but I never would've been able to  pick someone better than you.” Pete was actively trying not to cry as Tom pulled their bags out of the trunk.
“Ma, try not to strangle my husband will you? I kinda like him.” That earned Tom a quick glare and suddenly Pete was released from his bear hug.
“Oh that’s right, thank you for reminding me why I’m still mad at you.” She could really hold a grudge according to Tom.
“Mom, I already told you that when we can make it official you’ll be the first to know. Now, do I get a hug too or is Pete your new son?” she softened and embraced her oldest boy.
“Well he’s my son now too so you’ll have to share that title.” Tom didn’t mind, he wanted to share everything with Pete, including but not limited to his last name.
They had decided early on that if it were ever possible Pete would take Tom’s last name. They knew they didn’t have to share a last name, but it was just another thing that they wanted to do if they ever had the chance. Tom had said he’d change his last name to Mitchell or even hyphenate but Pete had just laughed and demanded he get to change his last name to Kasansky. When Tom enquired as to why he was so keen on getting rid of his last name he just said, “Baby, I’ve been trying to distance myself from this last name for my entire life. And now I have the opportunity to be a Kazansky? You bet your ass I’m taking it.”
They eventually made their way into the house and Tom could feel all of his childhood memories rushing back. He was suddenly glad that his mother hadn’t changed her Christmas decor in all of this time, it felt like time had stood still, like it had waited for him to bring Pete home. He suddenly regretted not coming home for Christmas in so long.
“I know what you’re thinking son, and I want you to know that we don’t blame you.” Ice’s father had stood beside him and put an arm around him. His parents weren’t getting any younger and it showed, but it still felt like it always had. “You did what you had to do for your safety, and I’m so sorry you had to. But you’re here now, and so is Pete. Let’s have a good Christmas huh?”
Ice smiled and nodded at his father. It wasn’t that he didn’t think he could trust his parents with this secret, he just didn’t want to trust them with it. His parents were the best people he knew and he didn’t want them to have to lie to their friends or other family members about him.
“Thanks Dad. It means the world to us that we can be here with you all this year. It’s about time I give Pete the Christmas he deserves.” In his mind Pete deserved the world.
“Oh I’m sure you’ve given him plenty of remarkable Christmases. I have no doubt you’re a good husband to that man. I look forward to seeing it for myself.” His dad gave him one last pat and left him in the entryway to go tend to something in the kitchen. Pete moved to take his place.
“Something on your mind baby?” Pete had his arm around Tom’s waist their bags long gone with Mrs. Kazansky as she insisted she take them to one of the guest rooms.
“Just wishing we could’ve had this sooner is all.” He gave his husband a sad smile, but he hoped it was a reassuring one.
“We’re here now, love. Let’s enjoy it okay?” Tom nods to his husband and gives him a small peck. Still used to keeping things under wraps. But he hears a whistle from the top of the stairs and he looks up to see his younger (But still in his thirties) brother shaking his head at them.
“You call that a kiss? You’re under the mistletoe idiot, you’re supposed to give him a real kiss!” Tom rolls his eyes at Mark's antics and looks down to see his husband a nice shade of maroon. He considers his next move carefully, deciding between running up to chase down his brother and Kissing Pete within an inch of his life. He ultimately decides that it’s Christmas and he could have it all.
He pulls Pete up into a kiss and Pete forgets where he is for a moment and just sinks into it. They fall into it like they’re at home and it isn’t until Tom hears his brother’s exasperation that he snaps out of it.
“God you two are like newlyweds.” Mark is descending the stairs and approaches the couple.
“I’ll have you know we’ve been married since 1991 so we’re more like an old married couple.” Mark raises his hands in defense.
“My bad, but I’ll have you know I totally called this.” He gestures between the two pilots grinning ear to ear.
“Wow congratulations you called a relationship I’ve been in since 1986. You should be a detective.” Tom was smiling despite his sarcastic words, he was just glad to be able to talk like this with his brother.
The three of them join the parents in the living room. Ice’s mom informs them that Sarah and her girls’ ETA is about an hour and Josh and his family are set to arrive in the morning, flying in from the east coast.
They have dinner and chat, enjoying their time together, and Pete is happy to see Sarah and his Nieces. Words can’t even describe how he feels about being able to call them his nieces. The next day rolls around sooner or later and Josh’s grown-ish children swarm their uncle Pete. They’ve always called him that, just now it means more.
The house is finally full on Christmas Eve and they all sit in the living room watching some of the younger kids look out the window for santa. The fireplace is on and everyone is chatting silently. Pete is sitting next to (Or on him depending on who you ask) Tom and he’s got an arm around Pete’s shoulders, holding him tight.
Tom looks around at his family smiling and enjoying themselves, then down at his husband in his arms. Never in his wildest dreams did he think he’d ever get this moment. Christmas lights twinkling around him, his family laughing and chatting, and his husband in his arms enjoying the scene with him. They had fought for this moment for so long and now that it’s here? He couldn’t be more grateful. He and Pete fought in wars for a living and it felt like they never stopped because nobody ever won. But here and now, in his parent’s living room, Pete in his arms, it felt like the war was over. They had won.
(The Photo I reference as one of their wedding photos)

The last bonus chapter (and simply, the last chapter)!
Let's welcome our beloved king, Iceman!
-------------
Some other things:
All right everyone, though I am not quite done with this universe, I believe this is officially the end of Hang the Hangman with Love, the multi-chapter fic. There may be more fics to come in this AU, but they will be posted separately.
This is my first time to write (and finish) a multi-chapter fic in English. I have had so much fun writing this one, and I am so overwhelmingly happy for all your love for it! I am not the most confident writer, and I happen to be an introvert who work very very far away from my hometown lollll. So, your support really means a lot to me ❀
This has been a wonderful and fantastic journey! Thanks again for all your lovely company. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I do.
Till we meet again, my dear readers. All the best. And Merry Christmas in advance!!!
<3 <3
----xihe
-------------
(A reminder: you probably should connect the bonus chapters with previous main text ones, then they will make more sense! You can find them on AO3 or here among my posts, tagged the fic title)

Give 'Em Hell (a Hangman x reader story) - Chapter 2: Despair and Desire
Link to Chapter 1: https://www.tumblr.com/blog/view/devythebaddie/687899562327851008?source=share
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tori couldn’t shake her dad’s words. The funeral was fifteen minutes away, yet she couldn’t think about anything other than the possibility of going back to Top Gun. This “special detachment” that Iceman had explained seemed more like a suicide mission than anything, and Victoria was supposed to have months left of paid leave due to her fiancé’s tragedy. Yet she knew she had to go back. Victoria Kazansky wasn’t arrogant, but she knew that she was one of the best pilots out there, and whoever made up the flight team was going to need her.
“Ready, Tor?” Rooster asked quietly, his arm outstretched for her to hold on to. She nodded, not ready to speak, and walked with him through the doors out to the site of the funeral. The second her eyes caught the first banner, she nearly fell over. Jeffrey’s face was everywhere. His eyes staring into hers from every direction. And when she saw his mom, his dad, his younger brother
Tori wanted to run away. Bradley noticed this, and leaned down towards her ear.
“It’s okay. You’re okay. Nobody blames you. Just hold on to me and let’s find our seats.”
Victoria had never been more thankful for Bradley Bradshaw than in that moment, and when her father walked out through the doors and gave her the most solemn of smiles, she squeezed Bradley’s hand before going over to hug her father.
“Tori, honey-” Her eyes welled up with tears before he even finished saying her name. Tori knew it was hard for her dad to speak, and just hearing his now-broken voice made her want to cry. But she knew she couldn’t cry yet. She was Victoria “Stony” Kazansky. Daughter of Iceman. She couldn’t. Freaking. Cry.
“I love you, Dad,” she said, kissing the man on his cheek. He repeated the sentiment and walked with her back to their first-row seats, where Bradley greeted the admiral and Tori’s mom, who had been a few paces behind her husband and daughter but caught up with them after their tearful greeting.
Tori blankly stared through the rest of the funeral. People spoke, people cried, people gave her their condolences, but she didn’t feel anything. She was pretty much numb. Once Bradley realized what was going on, he knelt down in front of her and offered to take her home.
“I can’t just leave in the middle of my fiancé’s funeral,” she whispered.
“Of course you can,” Bradley took her hand and the two stood up. “Everyone will understand, I promise. Just say a quick goodbye to a few people, ‘kay?”
Victoria nodded, once again grateful for her lifelong best friend. She did what he said to do, saying goodbye to a few admirals, Jeffrey’s family, and her parents before driving home with Rooster.
She wanted to just spend the rest of the day in bed, get some takeout, and watch TV, but Bradley wouldn’t let her.
“Tori, you have been cooped up inside your apartment for weeks. You have to get out. I never said you had to have fun, but at least get out of the house!” Bradley said, loudly crashing into who knows what in her closet. “Listen, you heard what your dad said earlier - everyone who’s being considered for this ‘special detachment’ got a call today, which means that there’s gonna be a whole lot of people at the Hard Deck tonight. All you have to do is show up, say hi to some people, drink a few beers or margaritas or whatever the hell you want, and listen to me play Great Balls of Fire at least once. Throw a little pool in there, and you’ve got yourself a great night! But, I know how hard today’s been for you. If you really don’t want to go, we don’t have to. I just think this might help, and I don’t even care if we only stay there for two hours; I just want to see you happy again.”
Victoria really didn’t want to leave the house, but she could see how much Rooster cared, so she decided to go.
“Yes!” Rooster smiled. “I promise you won’t regret this!”
Tori, on the other hand, was absolutely sure that she would.
Bradley opened the passenger seat door to his prized blue truck and Victoria smiled at the man’s simple act of chivalry. She let out a sigh as she sat down, smoothed down the legs of her black skinny jeans, and tucked in her red spaghetti strap tank top, slightly regretting her decision to let Bradley pick out an outfit for her. She couldn’t lie, there were worse options, but the high heels she wore may have taken things a bit far.
“Hey, you look great,” Rooster reassured her as he started the car. She laughed and tapped on the dash, her signal for the aviator to start driving.
As the pair pulled up in front of the bar, Tori froze. She could feel the excitement inside the Hard Deck from even outside, and she worried about how she would keep up with it as the night went on. Not wanting Bradley to have to give her another talk, she pulled it together, grabbing her purse and jacket as the mustached man opened the door for her. Victoria only then noticed what he was wearing. She smiled as she recognized Goose’s old Hawaiian t-shirt over Bradley’s white tank, remarking the resemblance between the father and son.
The first people Tori recognized in the bar were Penny Benjamin, the owner, and Pete Mitchell - Bradley’s estranged godfather/Iceman’s best friend - who was sitting directly across from her. Victoria had spent some time with the pair in her younger years, and she was happy to see that they were back together. Pete made Penny happy, and vice versa; Victoria’s only hope was that the captain had the sense to stay with Penny this time. Then she noticed a sea of khaki. There were at least ten aviators standing by the pool table, including one of Bradley’s best friends (and a potential love interest), Phoenix, someone Tori admired. There were so few female pilots, so she and Natasha had a close bond. After saying hi to Penny (Bradley made sure to avoid Maverick), the pair made their way over to the rest of the naval aviators.
Phoenix beamed when she saw them.
“Bradshaw? This is how I find out you’re in town?” She hugged him and Tori, then introduced the aviators around her. Victoria recognized the callsigns: Coyote, Payback, Fanboy, Bob. Her brief interaction with the group was cut short as one more pilot called out Rooster’s name.
“Bradshaw, as I live and breathe.”
The two made a bit of small talk until the blond aviator noticed Victoria.
“Bradshaw’s girlfriend,” He mimed tipping a hat in her direction.
“I’m not his girlfriend. Should be more worried about her.” Tori smiled and pointed towards Phoenix, who was happily conversing with the brunette.
“As long as you’re available.” Hangman winked at the female pilot and she was a bit shocked by his forwardness. Victoria had heard of him and his
way with women, but she’d yet to experience it.
“Slow down there, tiger. I may be single, but very recently so; I’m not looking at the moment.” Tori hadn’t been planning on talking about her late fiancĂ©, but the reality was that his funeral had only been that morning, and there was no way she was ready to move on yet. Luckily, Hangman noticed her discomfort and lightly addressed it.
“You’re Tori Kazansky, aren’t you? Phantom’s fiancĂ©e?” he asked softly. “I was at the funeral. I’m so sorry. I knew him; he was a great man.”
“He was,” Victoria agreed. “But he wouldn’t want me to be stuck in the past like I’ve been for the last few weeks. You down for a game of pool?”
“Hell yeah. But I’ll have to warn you that once you see this-“ He gestured to himself and the pool table. “You’ll be wanting to spend a lot less time with Bradshaw over there.”
His tone was slightly flirtatious, but she could tell by his vaguely Southern accent that it was only natural, and she somehow knew he wouldn’t go too far.
Jake Seresin hadn’t been lying about his pool skills; he was good. But not better than Victoria Kazansky, that was for damn sure.
“Wow, you’re good,” he admitted. “Play a lot of pool with your dad?”
“Yeah, actually.” She smiled at the memories of pool games that lasted so long that her mom, Sarah, would come down and force them to put down the sticks, tournaments that always ended in ties. Tori and her dad were very close, him being one of the few people she didn’t shut out after Jeffrey’s death. She ended up talking to Hangman much longer than she intended, so long that Phoenix raised her eyebrows and gave her a look once Tori walked back over to her. At the same time, a few aviators - including Hangman - threw Maverick out, and Bradley naturally decided to play Great Balls of Fire on the piano. The night ended up being much more fun than Victoria had ever expected.
By the time the pair got back to Rooster’s car, they’d only had a few beers each, but due to the training they had in the morning, they knew better than to get wasted. Tori now had Hangman’s number, though, and she intended to put it to good use. She was looking down at her phone and thinking about her time with the aviator when Bradley seemingly read her mind.
“So, you and Hangman, huh?”
“So, you and Phoenix, huh?” Tori mocked his tone and he held up his hands in surrender.
“Fine. Just do me a favor,” He bit his lip. “Take it slow, please. The last thing I want is for you to get hurt.”
Normally, Victoria would counter him with a lecture about how she could take care of herself, thank you very much, but hearing the concern in his voice, she let it go.
“Of course. I promise.”

Masterlist
NATE FICK-
Nate's a calculated person. He can see the patterns in people, things, etc. Like how his father's eyebrows wrinkle when he's excited, or when his mother likes to prep a meal from vegetables to the main course. So when you're happy, sad, whatever-he knows it, and you don't even have to tell him.
He'll come home and see you. He knows that you've heard him calling you're name, but you don't move. He looks all over the house and finds you inside of your tub, just sitting there with no response. The water is running, and your clothes and hair are soaked.
So in an attempt to not disrupt your peace, Nate climbs in and sits next to you. You look over and he's stares at you. Just as your about to speak, he beats you to it.
"I'll get you a towel and some clothes."
And then, he just leaves. You hear the door quietly shut, and you blink for a few seconds. What the hell just happened? It snapped you out of your depressive trance. Now instead of feeling sad-you just were confused.
So you hear the door lightly open again and then close. After a few more minutes of soaking, you get out and see a towel and a set of clothes that are most certainly not yours. It's Nate's Dartmouth Lacrosse sweater and a pair of underwear-he knows you too well.
So you exit the bathroom and you see Nate, putting two cups down of you're favorite tea
And he's got that face. You know the face were he's like â˜č
"Hey, c'mere."
The two of you climb into bed with eachtoher. He throws one of those ugg blankets over you. You rest his head in his chest and he pats your head. There's a silence, until Nate says, "Do you wanna walk about it."
Normally, you'd say no and he'd read you a book you're reading or hold you as you cry, but this time, it's different.
"Yeah, I do. You won't judge, right?"
Nate tilts you chin up, and he's got a tired smile on his face.
"Why would I?"
BRAD COLBERT-
Brad may appear horrible with emotions and reading the room...in which he isn’t
Okay, scratch that. He tries to understand them, it’s just hard for him to give advice and use words to comfort you. He feels like he’s walking on glass, But sometimes, you just need him psychically more then anything.
When you storm out of a room when Chaffin makes a comment on your weight, Brad takes a few minutes to think what he should do.
Normally, he’d just leave you be, but he’s gotta do something. Getting up, he follows you down the hallway. You’re not far, and he’s calling you’re name.
You stop in the hallway, wiping the tears coming down toye face. Brad turns you around with his hands on your shoulder. He’s got a blank face on as he looks at you, seeing your red face and the tears.
While you sob and stutter, he fixes the collar of your shirt, tucks your hair behind your ear, which is normal. He likes to neaten you up to make you feel better.
But he starts to use his thumb, wiping the tears coming down your face. You shocked as he cups your face, making you look into those icy cold eyes. He looks like the Iceman, cold and emotionless, but what he says very Brad.
“You’re beautiful.”
Then he pulls you into a tight grasp. He’s a whole foot taller then you, and you like the way he snakes his hands around his waist and slightly lifts off you your feet. His sheer presence is intimating, but for you; comforting. ïżŒ
RAY PERSON-
THIS MAN. although a hick with a big mouth, he does know when to shut up and can read you’re emotions like the back of his hand.
He can just see the sadness swelling in your eyes and the way you pick at the foot at your plate and avoid all of needs for cuddles in bed. Heck, it’s making Ray sad.
So he does what he does best-not shutting up, well-about things he likes about you.
“Man! Look at my hot girlfriend/wife! There reading books by the liberal media, total smartie here! Oh! And they have a degree from-“
Ray will also beg for to your attention and follows you around like a puppy. Like you’ll be sitting on the couch and he’ll come rest his head on your lap. You ignore him, but he starts to twist and quote random movies so you finally give in.
Is Ray annoying? Yes. But did he make you smile? Also yes.
Also Ray is a cook, and knows all of your favorite meals. Of course, he sets the table, lights a few Mantown candles (yes there real google them), and comes to serve your meal with two plates.
“The most beautiful man/woman I have ever seen, the love of my life, the apple of my eye, the Avril to my Bizzy D-you’re hot pockets.”
It makes you laugh, which makes Ray happy. He feeds off of that attention. You sit in Ray’s lap, eating hot pockets, and watching The Best Damn Tour. You lean on Ray’s shoulder, and he leans right back.
POKE ESPERA-
Alexa play Whatta Man’ by Salt-N-Peppa BECAUSE! WHAT! A! MAN!
Poke is one tough mofo. He embodies the meme of “Good morning to my beautiful wife/husband and child everybody else get fucked”.
But like every baddie; baddie’s gotta have soft spots for there bitches. He has two; you and his daughter. And oh god he’s love the two of more then anything in the world.
Poke knows you and his daughter well enough. His daughter first notices that your not as enthusiastic and bubbly, and then she tells Poke. But Poke already knows because he’s observant and very in touch with his emotions.
So when he’s a work; he thinks and does a lot of self reflection. He wonders why you’re upset. Did he cause it? What can he do to make it better? He asks all the guys for advice, and even his own daughter.
An idea strikes! Poke’s got a lot of anger, so his therapist told him to express his emotions by journalling. But Poke learns that it helps him get everything out of system, so he’s a secret writer. Heck, he even likes poetry; and would kill anyone if they’d find out.
While off at work, small letters start to appear across you’re house. Some are long, some are short, but there sweet and make you’re day.
“I held the stars in my arms wen I held you”
“I can’t wait to kiss you.”
“Your eyes stole all of my words away”
And the covers of the notes are done by Poke’s daughter, covered in glitter and Lisa Frank stickers.
You confront Poke about this “mysterious pen pal” and Poke is like “I mean, your lips do sound tempting”
You know it’s Poke, and he knows it, but there’s something about the mystery that is very romantic.
WALT HASSER-
Here comes our favourie country pumpkin
Now let me say. This man LOVES you more then anything the world
Doesn’t wanna show you off (but he does)
So when you’re the slightest bit sad, Walt is even sadder then you are
Walt is someone that lives to receive attention, and also he’s someone that likes to give it. Especially to the love of his life!
Walt gives you things you actually need, and nothing that is materialistic. Growing up, his parents had a healthy relationship, and the apple clearly doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Waits on you hand and foot. A back massage? Done. A fuzzy blanket? Right on it! A specific burger from a joint that is thirty minutes away at three in the morning? Walt’s driving like a manic just for you. You have the man’s undivided attention.
“Walt?”
He stops whatever he’s doing and runs over, getting on his knees, “Yeah, what’s up baby?”
“Can you sing the song? Y’know, our song?”
Walt nods his head, now an eager puppy, and gets his gutair to play the song he wrote especially for you. And this is making me realize how painfully single I am oh my
RUDY REYES-
Rudy has an iv of respect woman/men juice. He always understands the assignment-and desires extra credit.
So whenever you’re down in the dumps, Rudy will drop everything and drag you into the car to go walk on his favorite trail. It’s ten miles long, but Rudy is a fitness freak.
First, you hate doing it. But the more you talk these long walks, the more you begin to enjoy it.
Sometimes there silence. Rudy won’t speak force you to talk. Talking is stressful, and Rudy will wait until you’re ready. The two of you holds hands, and Rudy has such a calming presence. It’s really hard to get angry at him.
You finally speak and tell Rudy you’re problems, and he listens and doesn’t interrupt. He’s got a hand on you’re lower back, or on your thigh. He’s basically you’re emotional support teddy bear and will always be a lending ear, or a total cuddle monster.
Rudy has the best advice as well. It’s always some yoga shit, but damn, those breathing ïżŒ exercises do actually help.
EVAN “Q-TIP” STAFFORD-
Oh Q-Tip. My feral goblin son😭
I love him, but sometimes-things can fly over his head.
But when you start to ignore him and hide away from him, he begins to notice. And he HATES IT.
Like ïżŒChristianson will ask him if he’s okay and he’ll literally quote a 2pac song and be like,
“I would drop all my girls for you, Walk barefoot 'round the world for you, Fly around like the birds for you, Thats why I wrote these words for you..”
Lilley is like “Brah we gotta help a homie out”
So the three stooges create Lovegate. The mission? to make Q-Tip’s partner happier.
Q-Tip is very artistically inclined. So with Christenson’s editing skills and Lilley’s camera, Q-Tip writes you a song and does a whole music video.
The man rents out a movie theatre venue just to show you. Of course, you’re blown away. It’s horrible and you can taste the autotone, BUT IT’S THE EFFORT THAT COUNTS. and q-tip has that smile on. you know what i’m talking about!
Doc Bryan walks in on the two of you making out and is pissed since all he wanted to do was see the re-screening of Bridemaids but NO, Q-Tip just had to rent out a theatre to show his partner a music video about them and then make out.
He see’s Lilley, who’s recording and asks to interview what Doc’s opinion on the music video, and this is what he’s says.
“I think my ears bled, but thank fuck those two aren’t acting like emo’s.”
DOC BRYAN-
The gif has a purpose. Trust me. SPEAKING OF THE MAN OF THE HOUR
Bryan, like Poke, is a very observant guy. He’s an angry motherfucker, and even a little insensitive, but ever since dating you; he’s tried to change.
He hates the world. People are shitty, and it makes him feel shitty that you’re sad because when you feel shitty, he’s in a shitter mood then he’s usually in
Knowing that his words might sound a little harsh, Byran knows how to distract you. Without words. After all, he didn’t work out for nothing.
Long hugs are you’re thing. The two of you will run into eachother, find a private place, and he’ll just wrap his arms around you. His big arms are protective, and he’s warm, and you just sink into him.
Sometimes, you’ll fall asleep. Byran sometimes will fall asleep with you, other times he’ll gently lay you down and put a blanket with a gentle forehead kiss.
When you cry in his arms, he’ll wipe the tears away. He can feel them against his arm, and he doesn’t know what to do. Crying girls/guys are not his speciality.
But when you squeeze his arm back, to let you know what your there and that you love him, Byran will freeze. He has no idea what to next with words. He’ll put his hand over yours, and turns out; it works well.
After this is all over, he’ll check up on you and ask you simply if you’re okay. You respond with a smile. Byran isn’t one for smiles, but for you, he shows a subtle smile back. Just to let you know.

What is one of your Top Gun ships that you think is underappreciated? Romantic or platonic
Uhhh well let me think.
...the platonicness of Slider and Iceman so just like underappreciated. These dudes never seem to outwardly fight about anything and have each other's backs.
I am very biased towards Viper and his wife as a ship now, I am really sad she never got a name. :/ (If she does now, welp, top gun's fault for being too late to tell the world, it's Linda now!)
Very much a "hello this is my emotionally blocked off husband, he only likes and knows how to express love to our family and planes"
And "Yes, this is my wife. No, I don't know I how I got so lucky as to married her, it's been two decades I have no idea how to ask anymore."
...and of course almost any ship with Goose. The platonicness of Goose and Maverick is just so good and they love each other, and I crave more pre canon content. I crave it!
