i am taking a mental break after watching japan vs italy. No one contact me for the next week.

was thinking about takeshi and how he's my favorite brand of unconditional devotion btw. the utter and absolute and all-consuming kind that runs so deep to the very core and is so intrinsic and fundamental to it, it can only express itself in the most casual and natural and certain way. without second thoughts, without any room for doubts or for any moral dilemma to be had over it, because of course he ought to always be breathing and living for his chosen person first and foremost. of course he ought to hang on their every word and make them true no matter what, no matter what he has to do to make it happen, no matter what he has to do to other people to make it happen, and no matter what it might turn him into in the process. because it's obviously the way the world should be for his chosen person. at their feet, ready to bend over backwards and break and build itself again to better answer to all their needs even if they don't ask it for it. it's the only right way it should be for them, and of course takeshi's going to do his utmost at all times to make it a reality as much as possible.

and his devotion comes out as naturally as breathing, comes out lighthearted and nonchalant like he might as well be talking about the weather, but it's not unaware of itself. it's not that takeshi doesn't know it's unhealthy and wrong and that he's willing to go entirely too far in its name for anyone's good. it's not that he wouldn't hear you out if you were to sit him down and explain to him just why he needs to tone it down a little (a lot). logically, he'd agree with you and know you're right. and then he'd tell you he's still not going to do anything whatsoever about it. that he's not bothered by it and doesn't feel the need to change anything to his attitude. makes it a point to never let anyone or anything sway him even an inch in the stand he took when it comes to that, no matter how many thousand of times you might go over the subject with him.

because the morality of his devotion isn't the point at all. is entirely irrelevant to it and doesn't affect the way he expresses it all. it's not the metric with which he draws a line in the sand to hold it accountable to. because the thing is, takeshi's entire world revolves around tsuna--tsuna is his entire world altogether, and it's just a matter of fact, that simple. to him it's a truth as unchanging as the sky being blue, and so being the way he is according to that truth is the only way he can imagine being that'd feel right to him. and so the actual and only metric that matters here is "would tsuna be happier if i were to do this?" and/or "is this something tsuna needs me to do?"

and like. i don't think takeshi ever stops being a kind person capable of compassion and understanding and mercy and forgiveness even ten years later once they became mafia through and through. and i don't think either he grows up to be feared and called a monster per se despite the things they inevitably had to do during those ten years (and the things they'll inevitably keep having to do as long as they keep being mafia), at least not in the way, for example, they'll never stop fearing and calling mukuro one. but i do think that among the tenth gen, he ends up being the one with the most ruthless, merciless and horrific blood on his hands of that particular and distinct loving kind. you know the one i mean, right? he comes to be the one most expected and the one first expected to be willing and to take it upon himself to go through with it when the need arises. and to think little of it after, if anything at all. all in the name of making tsuna's reign as easy on him as possible.

and it's to the point where it's the kind of blood that makes even mukuro pause at times. or, when takeshi is the one coming up with solutions himself during meetings, makes even reborn blink. not because it's unjustified or wouldn't be safe or efficient or anything of the sort, but because it is unwarrantedly thorough in its retaliation. and sometimes, at times like this, he's the one tsuna needs to step in for the most, because he's the only one who can reason with him that "yes, this would work in getting rid of our problem" but "no, please, don't do that takeshi". because if tsuna is the only thing that infers on just how much and in what ways he'll let himself be devoted to him, then of course, he's also the only one takeshi's willing to reign himself in for without second thoughts. because he'd hate to ever do something tsuna would disapprove of or wouldn't want him to do. or do something that'd make tsuna see him differently or love him back less even in the slightest.

and it's also like. his devotion isn't an undisciplined one. it's not one he doesn't have control over, the very opposite. it's a very purposeful and conscious choice he chooses to keep making over and over again every step of the way, and he taught himself to have control over it, to know when it's needed and/or wanted, and how much and in which ways it is when it happens, and to keep it down otherwise. and, yes, to also reign it back in at tsuna's request at times when it still slips past his control. because it's all about making tsuna's happiness easier and secure and long-lasting, and never about burdening him with just how committed he is to do that.

so it comes down to this: takeshi willing to go above and beyond and more for tsuna unless tsuna explicitly asks him not to. and to tsuna needing to ask him not to every now and then. and to other people pointing out to him how too many times tsuna's already needed to stop him, and that maybe there's a hint for him to take there. and to takeshi seeing the hint, looking it straight in the eye and recognizing it for what it is and just. deciding it doesn't apply to him because it's all perfectly normal behavior to him. because it's the only kind of behavior that makes sense to him and feels right.

and so—to circle back to my first point—he can only express his devotion as naturally as breathing, so casually, almost like it's something inconsequential and not worth talking about despite how unmistakably it couldn't be further away from being the truth. it's the only way he could have always known how to express it, because, after all, who has ever taken time to ponder about the details and the hows of the way they breathe?

and i, for one, absolutely eat that shit up every time, thanks for coming to my ted talk <3

otaku fm sinful sounds - the disappointing reply to the fans' outcry.

this morning i wake up to a notification from the obey me! official channel - a new otaku fm episode? celebrations. fantastic. i'd been waiting ever since i saw a photo of kada and yamashita back in the iconic studio. we hadn't received a new otaku fm episode for roughly two years, and of course, when a new one is announced there's going to be expectations surrounding that. expectations that will originate from the previous seasons and episodes.

so after watching the one which came out today, i was just genuinely disappointed.

"that's it?? that's the episode?"

you might even notice that the episode doesn't stay loyal to its usual 35-45 minutes format. in fact, anime and chill had the longest episodes, and is what I'd call "peak obey me™". these episodes are half that length. and i'm expecting the newer ones to be even shorter.

sinful sounds (ss).. was never advertised to be as short as almost the otaku fm mini series with the side character's vas-

even worse? the twenty minute time frame was meant to be shorter. they went overtime.

i'd totally understand if it was labelled 'otaku fm mini - sinful sounds', but this was meant to be a return to formula. with the abundance of paid content coming from solmare recently, this was meant to be something that those without dispensable income could actually enjoy. yes, it was also stated that listening to the asmr would "make the episode that much better", but assuming that i'd enjoy it regardless is an overstatement. whether you listened to the audio drama or not, this was just a disappointing way of coercing people who don't use twitter to listen to it. and another disappointing reminder of what obey me has become.

be warned - i talk about the actual episode here. so maybe go listen to it first before reading on.

yes, hearing the voice actors come back.. of course i'd love that. that's one of the main reasons i wanted it to come back. they even acknowledge how long it's been since the last time they did, but then it goes straight into "what is ASMR??"

like.. the fanbase is full of deluded white women /j .. i think we all know what it is!!! i guess it's helpful nonetheless, but then they're like:

"let's listen to a clip!!!"

hey...what?!?

(and said clip takes up a good chunk of the episode..)

my point is.. it's not really them gisting about anything. the whole thing just feels scripted and stiff. i don't feel that liveliness that i feel from rewatching previous episodes. sure, yes, asmr is meant to be calming and relaxing.. but that's not what i think of otaku fm. they're spoonfeeding me a product like it's baby food.

it's just a 20 minute ad. really.

some could say "well duh, that was the point of otaku fm, to advertise obey me and give more fan content!!"

then tell me, genuinely. did this episode give you any fan content of the vas or character that you've either already heard before OR content that really satiated you.

let's use anime and chill as an example. the anime and chill series was made to advertise the anime, but they didn't spend all the time talking about it. and you didn't exactly need to have the money to watch the anime to enjoy the whole thing. the voice actors themselves are performers. they're used to taking the reins on a project and creating an entertaining experience, which is why even though a segment is based on asking one question, we learn so much about them on a personal level. if a radio episode can make me feel like i'm chatting with two friends, then its done its job. this episode felt like watching two unskippable ads in a row on youtube. end me.

for me it's bringing up the question - all this paid content might just turning more fans away rather than bringing more in. i'm suspecting they've ben losing money since the decline in popularity after lockdown.

it's just making me think, well, five years in the future, will obey me as a game even survive? because trust me, after this disappointing episode, i'm starting to turn to ex and bee as my lord and saviour.

this isn't a diss at the voice actors at all. they were told and paid to do this, and they've done it perfectly well. this is more at a poke at the higher up executives calling the shots for this. because it always is- /hj

think i'm the only one who hates it? read this other post from another person on youtube who's also another avid fan of the voice actors. i might be repeating one or two of their points, but i saw this before i ever listened to ss, and trust me, it was a red flag for what was to come.

again, i'm not making this post because "arghhh i hate solmare i hate the vas".. no. i'm doing this because i can see that in another universe, this new series could've been amazing. it just falls flat. and i feel like it will continue falling flat until the developers and higher-ups behind this game acknowledge the scraps and and shreds of a fanbase the game has left.. i'm disappointed.

before you even begin praise this episode, listen to every single episode featuring sumi shinya, miura ayme, and/or takuhei yamamoto, laugh your heart out, then come back to this post. and mourn what has been taken from you.

Just realised I never shared this omg

Meet the redesigned (and present-day) Jono! I realised I'd originally subconsciously coded him as Aboriginal in some little chunks of experimental writing I made of him and Memphis, and I wanted to make him explicitly so because a) NO SIMPSONS ABORIGINAL AUSTRALIAN CHARACTERS? NOT ONE? b) I thought him having ties to the Stolen Generation (on his mother's side) brought valuable depth to his character (and the Stolen Generation is also something I've wanted to explore a bit in my work) and c) I was already subconsciously writing him as Aboriginal and there's literally only one rough artwork of him made before all the development I gave him, so why go against my instincts for his character?

For context, this is only other appearance in a visual work, back when he was just a two-dimensional placeholder, haha.

Fukutora braindump

In first year no one sat with either of them at lunch—Tora scared people off cause he looks like a delinquent and Fukunaga has that "weird quiet kid who laughs to himself" reputation. As resident yapper Tora got bored eating alone and at this point the only guy he sorta knew was Fukunaga (Kenma eats with Kuroo), so he barged into his class one day and they've eaten together ever since

Thinking about this line from Fukunaga's stat sheet— I think after a good amount of pestering Fukunaga gives in but only in the form of whispering directly into his ear. It flusters Tora at first ("THATS NOT WHAT I MEANT") and Fukunaga's mostly doing it to mess with him but eventually it becomes genuine, Tora even leans over when he senses he has something to say. He's probably heard Fukunaga's voice more than anyone else. Kenma thinks it's really fucking gay.

Speaking of Kenma he's always staring at them like the homophobic dog. It's painfully obvious to him that they have a thing for each other but whenever he tries to bring it up to Tora he has a fit and insists he's not gay. When he brings it up to Fukunaga he just laughs and says he also knows, he's drawing it out on purpose to see when Tora will finally crack. Kenma wants to smash his head into the wall

It takes a while but when Tora finally gets his shit together they're a pretty affectionate couple. The rest of the team make fun of them relentlessly and pretend to gag everytime they so much as look at each other except for Shibayama, who's a bit of a sap and goes too far in the other direction (they high-five and hear a loud "DAWWWW" from the other side of the gym)

Genderfluid Fukunaga, Tora's the biggest wife guy in the world (tied with Tanaka of course). He's always buying her shit or bringing her up in conversations unprompted. Him and Tanaka scroll through their wife photo albums when they hang out

Fukunaga's really good at keeping a straight face but Tora's one of the only people who can get him to crack, and it's not even on purpose. He just says shit thats so dumb or out-of-left-field that Fukunaga fuckign loses it. No one understands why, not even Tora himself

- yamamoto smells REALLY good and everyone always asks what he uses but hes only every told the other 4

- terushima makes rubber band keychains and all of them have an absurd amount of them

Okay here's probably a surprise from someone who like Squalo so fucking much. I actually believe Squalo should lose the rain battle as he does(or if one goes about changing it that he should still lose in the end due to how he is). I will go into it below but it is going to be so fucking long. This is both breaking down the "realism" argument and the "Narrative" argument(though, this battle should honestly only be looked through the latter lens due to that being the purpose of it.) Anyway, let's break it down.

First and for most I'm going to attack the idea that because Squalo is more skilled he should not have lost "realistically", important thing to know, in any realistic scenario Squalo almost definitely would not win.

He is only a threat because of the fact that Yamamoto is new, Squalo's sword is literally without a doubt, shit. I have to be level about this because I hate this fucking thing with a passion because from a sword fighting perspective he has done literally everything wrong with this damn thing.

The only type of blade like this that had been intended to be fought with is a Calvary weapon, it isn't made for melee and genuinely just. Sucks when you use it like he is. It severely limits his options, trapping him to only using the exact same arm with the exact same maximum strength behind each swing, with the exact same maximum length. The ability to switch between one handed and two handed is a massively important thing with swords which is why smaller swords that you can do both with were the most common type. It keeps pressure on your opponent and gives you a much bigger variety of options. Not to mention with how it's attached to his hand in the past and future with what is only bandages in the present, and only a few red straps in the future.

This shit is so god damn unstable it's impressive his sword didn't just fly off when he blocked a hit. Do the same thing with some tape and a ruler and you'll know exactly how quick that blade will shift at the smallest amount of resistance that any strike with it would have landed lighter than intended, and I don't mean lighter in terms of strength behind it(though it would be partially). I mean all his cuts would end up shallow, he'd be incredibly ineffective. This is literally the second worst blade of khr and this one unlike that one isn't made of flame so it has no excuse(apologies this sword pisses me off to no end). You have to fundamentally change how this fucking sword is built for it to be even fucking slightly good, this ain't it chief.

Next, here's a major things, there is a reason there is a saying "The first best swordsman doesn't have to to fear the second best, he has to fear the beginner" because it's fundamentally true. Squalo would never fear fighting another master because masters have all become set in their ways, their techniques, you can read them and break into their weaknesses. But, Yamamoto isn't a master, and throughout the battle, he is evolving rapidly. Squalo by the end of the battle relies incredibly on the things that he had seen before, he threw out his caution because he "seen it before" by the point of Yamamoto throwing out the eighth move.

Squalo had grown too used to being able to read his opponent that when he saw Yamamoto going for something new, he instead relied on things he's seen before, things he expected, a surprise attack, which was his downfall, he had stopped taking Yamamoto seriously after the 8th form.

He had prosthetic, to snap backwards in case of sneak attacks, because he expected this move so much. When something wasn't as he expected he defaulted to this and the reflection on the water convinced him of it.

You can't read a newbie and that's what's the most terrifying thing for a master to fight. In fact, it's implied that Squalo beat Tyr the very same way as Yamamoto defeated him. It's stated that in the same battle as Tyr that he perfected his current style, meaning all of his techniques, but notably they say scontro di squalo is in fact what was used to defeat Tyr. It implies the sense that he created it during this battle, but what I find interesting about scontro di squalo, is that it's just flailing his sword around as he runs forward. This would be a move, only someone new and desperate would have come up with in reality.

It would throw off any master because of it's sheer recklessness. But once again, Yamamoto isn't a master and thus it's major advantage, is lost. Regardless, Squalo used to do the same as Yamamoto did and that's how he won there, but he made the mistake of believing his move set as perfect thus stagnating afterwards. His pride in his success and abilities, were his downfall in this match. Additionally Squalo's pride affecting his fighting was evident, in sword fighting you never dodge if possible it's really bad to because typically, you will not fucking succeed. Your legs are last in the orders of operations it's generally better and safer to block, parry and counter your enemy than it is to dodge. The fact that Squalo dodged a strike he knew was coming shows that he was over-estimating his own abilities and understanding of this style.

Finally the argument that Yamamoto would not be as strong as squalo is. Incorrect. In fact baseball actually engages the same muscle as sword fighting, and terrifyingly, there's one difference people do not typically account for when cross examining weapons. Which is, blunt objects naturally need more force behind them to do their work, while blades will typically have less resistance against the body. This means Yamamoto likely has a much higher swing strength than Squalo does with how violently he plays it, Yamamoto is like on, 'exploding a bird with a baseball pitch' level of play, and that WILL go into his swings.

If we were being realistic, should have broken Squalo's bones several times over with his back of the sword hits. It should be noted, the back of the sword while an anime trope of not being as dangerous, is actually just as dangerous or more so especially in the hands of someone used to using a blunt type of weaponry(in this case a baseball bat) the thin metal is heavy and powerful enough that the pressure on it would instead focus all the energy there, causing heavy bruising in the best of cases and something to break in the worst. Yamamoto's final move against Squalo, should it have hit his neck could have completely paralyzed the man from the neck down, or if it hit his skull, could have easily cracked and caved it in, and that's not bringing the additional momentum from it being a a strike with power added to it in the air. It is that bad. Notably, in the manga it appears Yamamoto switches the blade to the flat(not the back, this is the wide part of the blade) halfway through the strike so that it hits like that on the impact.

While this does typically lessen damage, it's mostly because striking like this creates more air resistance and slows down the blade before impact. However switching like Yamamoto does cuts down the slow and it would in fact do a lot of a damage. As even when it has more air resistance, a strike on the head like this is typically at minimum hard enough to stun a person. Which does explain why Squalo wakes up a few seconds after. But regardless, Yamamoto is perfectly capable of wrecking Squalo's shit even without physically training for the sword(which he did in fact do before this too but you know) in fact the fact he didn't kill Squalo in this match is impressive.

I want to additionally note the above, that Yamamoto's sword in the manga after is warping up and down like a door stop with so much energy put into it. Swords do wobble a bit when hit like this they have a bit of bend. But not THIS much typically. With the amount of force you'd need to do this to a sword you're more likely to fucking shatter it, now imagine doing that with solid metal against someone's fucking HEAD. The only thing preventing Squalo from dying from that is well the fact he is a cockroach and can't fucking die.

Now that we got that out of the way, we will now be looking at what type of fight this is. Battle manga focuses on battles it's in the name. But the important thing to know, is that there are several types of fights of which they can be categorized. I usually use 3 types(Narrative, Show, and Goal), though they can be mixed and matched but they cannot replace each other. They have different purposes and replacing one with another can in fact incredibly negatively impact how the story flows and character arcs grow, especially if you replace it with a show fight(one that focuses on a. character skills or b. entertainment value). But fundamentally what's important to know, is that the above that I've picked apart doesn't actually matter due to the type of fight it is.

You see, this is what I call a narrative fight(it is also mixed with a "goal" fight.) A narrative fight is something that explores the character and teaches them something that changes their character. It also is set to show something to the audience about the two characters fighting. Not their strength and their abilities, it's about their personalities, beliefs so on, things that can't actually be quantified. Almost all of the Varia arc fights are narrative fights. Fundamentally, in order to achieve what needed to be achieved, Squalo would and should never be able to get his hands on that ring.

Aside from the fact that Squalo would just kill any opponent he wins against if he doesn't have a reason not to(and in the case of the rain battle there's nothing there protecting Yamamoto). The rain battle is a battle of a lot of things. It is to teach Yamamoto humility, it is to show Yamamoto's progress from when he got his ass beat by squalo, it's to show the intense flaws of Squalo's pride, it's to show that insurmountable odds are possible to beat. Remember they're going 1 - 3(due to tsuna losing the sky ring) they're at an intense low point if yamamoto loses it's 1 - 4, which is more than half of the rings. But it's also about change. Yamamoto's entire style is about change. Squalo's isn't. Squalo's is incredibly ridged and stuck as it is.

For Squalo to win is to deny change is important, to say he is completely correct in being a prideful dick. To teach Yamamoto that this is correct, is very bad, because if Yamamoto were to fully follow Squalo in this? He would also stagnate the same way Squalo had. By breaking free of the competitive nature and seeing past the boxes of most sword styles with one that continues to evolve and encourages this. It's a battle of self reflection, and Yamamoto does this looking back over the battle, his last statements of it being flawless and invincible, is not a statement made to genuine belief that it will never change, but is a statement that because it changes it can always become something that will never truly be killed. But it's also something that pisses Squalo off, and Yamamoto is purposely saying it as a response, to goad Squalo into attacking. To blind him with his own pride and rage, to the new changes to the style, for Squalo to not see that Yamamoto has figured something out and isn't just being stubborn.

It never mattered who was truly better, because this fight is to double as a lesson. Should Squalo win cleanly or not punished for his pride, for being blinded by it, Yamamoto will not learn to grow. The battle is tailored to this, and changing it without understanding the narrative reasons as to why it ended up this way would ruin it's impact. It's not perfect it needs to be cleaned up a little with some dialogue changes and such, but honestly, the only thing that changing it would succeed in at best is a side grade should you make it so Squalo still loses. Or it loses it's impact should Squalo win.

I love the man I truly do, but this? This is one of the only fights where I will say he should lose. Other fights with him are much more arguably loose on which way they should go, but this? This one is a narrative battle that had complete purpose to his loss through and through. Squalo losing here serves a great purpose. He didn't even learn from it much which is a shame, but not surprisingly due to his character and what he represents. Which may be why he doesn't win any further up, because he does refuse to self reflect in any capacity.

was on the verge of waking up and randomly dreaming of a fight scene where the ones who fought kind of just clung to each other once the fight was over and it was safe again, hugging each other and stroking each other's back and hair, and i immediately thought of the vongola tenth gen.

i thought of tsuna who, once the dust settles and the danger passes, before they've even really caught their breaths or they can move/go back to a safer place, or maybe on their way there, as long as none of them are hurt too badly for that to take precedence over everything else, walks from guardian to guardian and just, like. reaches out.

he clasps gokudera's hands in his each in turn, gently, softly, with room for him to pull them out if he wants to, but holding onto them as long as he doesn't, waiting for gokudera to let go of the tension in them, for that slight restlessness that makes the tip of his fingers twitch to go away, waiting for gokudera to realize he won't need to reach for anymore dynamites to keep them safe for the time being. he massages his hands gently from his wrists to the tip of his fingers, rubbing at the back of his hands and at his joints along his fingers each in turn, blowing over the reddened and burnt spots on his skin, new and old ones alike, brushing his lips against them in a feather-light touch.

he reaches for hibari's hands too, palms bruised from how unyieldingly he held onto his tonfas until he came out on top no matter what came his way. tsuna holds his hands in his, his palms turned upwards, and runs his thumbs over stiff, roughened up skin, over callouses made raw again. it's not a massage, his touch light, barely there, only meaning it to soothe and not wanting to overwhelm him with it. he strokes his thumbs over his palms for as long as hibari lets him, careful not to hurt, hoping it takes some of the ache away and will make it go away faster altogether.

yamamoto gets a hug. tsuna wraps his arms around his back, bringing him close as he leans flush against him, tucking his head under his chin. yamamoto always hugs him back right away, but he always needs a moment to let himself relax into it. tsuna waits patiently, rocking them slightly from side to side, snuggling closer the more tension bleeds away from his body, holding him tighter as yamamoto's arms around him turn lighter. tsuna keeps hugging him until he melts into the hug, burying his face in his hair, exhaling a slow, deep breath that steadies them both.

lambo gets a hug too. tsuna holds him close, sitting down to curl protectively around him, hiding him from sight, keeping him hidden and safe from the world. he's mischievous with his hug, letting one hand wander to poke at his sides, strokes at his nape or just behind his ears, wanting to make him laugh. he grins in his hair when lambo lets out his first giggle, relief coursing through him, both of them laughing when he starts to wiggle, pretending he wants to get away but clutching tightly at his shirt, his hands shaking. he whines and complains and orders tsuna to stop and let go of him, and laughs all the while, because it's okay now for him to do that. tsuna-nii's safe, bakadera and everyone else is too, and he even helped make it happen! and it was terrifying, but it's over now. he's safe too, tsuna-nii will keep him safe, and the louder and livelier he gets, the more everyone smiles and laughs.

tsuna bumps his fists against ryohei first things first, both of them smiling at each other. he helps him with his bandages when need be and when they have the means for that at hands, removing them and putting on new, clean ones, or as clean as possible. he washes the sweat and blood off of his hands with water, both his opponent's but his too, his knuckles busted and his skin scraped and bruised all over his fingers; or cleans them when he can, apologizing softly whenever ryohei winces and hisses in pain. otherwise he intertwines their fingers together so slowly, so very gently, unwilling to hurt him more, squeezing his hands only as much as ryohei has already squeezed his.

chrome and him link arms together, pressed against each other shoulder against shoulder, leaning their weight against each other. chrome rests her head on his shoulder and tsuna on top of hers, nuzzling his cheek against her hair every time chrome's fingers dig into his skin. they stay like that long enough for their breathing to sync together, shoulders raising and falling at the same time, warm against each other. they're alive, they're alive.

mukuro barely allows him to come within arm's reach the first time. tsuna doesn't push, makes do with that, trailing his eyes over him from afar, trying to assess the damages and asking with his eyes without having to say it out loud if he's okay, and if he'll still be okay if left alone to take care of himself. mukuro lets him come closer a little more each time until tsuna can touch, until he can brush his fingertips against the building headache in his temple, against the throbbing veins of his right eye and the piercing ache that follows every time. until tsuna can brush his fingertips over his eyelid, closing his eye for the briefest of moment, allowing him to surrender to the pain that always comes with using his right eye, and make it more bearable even if only for a split second.

i don't know. something something, what comes after enough blood was spilt? what do you do with the sight of it laying at your feet, staining your hands, dripping from them? how do you reconcile the proof of the violence you're able of with the idea of your hands still being worth doing anything else?

and something something, tsuna, of course, making it a point for the answer to be picking up every piece of chipped kindness, gentleness and love among the blood, and guiding them to find their way home again within themselves.

1☽. Colonnello

Reason: Extremely supportive, loyal, and pragmatic, Colonnello would take Momina as they are in their entirety. Sickness, trauma, mental health, etc. He will accept it all and work with it. He's optimistic, not idealistic, and so he will ensure she is able to reach great heights while also weighing their limitations. Momina has been able to see all sorts of wonderful sights and places because Colonnello brought her along. Sickness be damned! Momina appreciates it more than words can say and tears could show. It's partially thanks to him that Momina can believe in her capabilities. Its also thanks to him that Momina is learning to slow down. Whenever her impulsivity strikes, he is there to have her pause and think through her ideas. Colonnello is someone who'd indulge Momina (and is, in return, indulged!) The two would have a dynamic yet supportive relationship. Sure, sometimes he dismisses her, and sometimes she swears acts of vengeance against him and starts trying to stab him, but no relationship is perfect...!!

2☽. Ryohei

Reason: Similar to Colonnello, Ryohei is extremely supportive and loyal! He isn't as pragmatic as Colonnello, but he sees Momina's worth and sympathizes with her health issues. He couldn't imagine not being able to do all he physically wants to do! And thus he is always supporting them and cheering them on. If they go on a jog and Momina slows down or needs a break, they will take that break. In fact if they're unable to go on then he will carry them to their destination! Ryohei has an overprotective streak but he is aware that it's not right to prevent Momina from going out and living their life, this is why he wants to be by her side to support her instead! Momina appreciates this greatly and that they can have candid talks about what it means to be an older sibling and all that it entails.

3☽. Basil

Reason: Basil is like a fairytale prince to Momina. So gentle, sweet and caring. He's always making sure to check on her, making sure they are not pushing themselves and urging them to rest when they are (Momina has a habit of overextending themselves but it's hard to say no to Basil...) And yet despite all this, Basil is well aware of Momina's abilities and strengths, he views her as a reliable comrade in battle and off the field. This means so much to Momina and as a result they are extremely attached to Basil. She tries in her own way to give back just as much as he does (although she doesn't feel it's remotely enough.) Basil is a dear companion!

4☽. Kyoko

Reason: The two are very similar in some ways and different in others. They can confide in one another and seek each other's advice or thoughts. Kyoko has always looked at Momina with good faith, something Momina wasn't and isn't entirely used to. It doesn't matter if Momina's temper flares up, Kyoko will ask Momina what happened and listen patiently as Momina passionately recounts what happened. Kyoko always listens and understands Momina, to the point of Momina breaking out into tears over this. Kyoko doesn't even see Momina as "angry" despite this being a descriptor Momina themselves uses. They are simply "passionate"! And for that, Momina will always cherish and love Kyoko. (In fact, like Ryohei, Momina has to resist the urge to be overprotective...! But of course this is discussed at the next Older Sibling Meeting.)

5☽. Takeshi

Reason: Attentive and sweet, Takeshi is always there for Momina when she needs it. Without their asking (and even while Momina thinks they are hiding their current health status well) Takeshi will support her. Wrapping an arm around them to steady her, or picking up her books for them. It's the small things Takeshi would do for Momina without complaint and without her asking that means the world to her. He has also listened to her vent and while she didn't always feel heard by him, he did listen and she did appreciate that. They have a wonderfully playful relationship, the two having a lot of fun together! Momina can't think of a time she was genuinely upset with him. If anything she feels she lacks too much with him! Their needs are a lot more overt than Takeshi's and Takeshi isn't one to allow her to push herself on his behalf. Even so, when she's brave enough, she stubbornly pushes on until all he could do is put his hands up in surrender, laughing.

Question: Why isn't Hayato on the list?

Answer: because while the two eventually have a healthier relationship where they heavily communicate and workout their problems...they didn't start that way! In fact, it was very toxic in the beginning! A lot of screaming matches, tears, regret etc... a mess! With the 6 above that wouldn't happen to the same degree. So they're definitely more compatible with Momina than Hayato is with Momina! This doesn't mean Momina wouldn't choose him, though. 🥴✨️
