A/N: This is it! This is my final chapter for my Love Yourself series and I'm incredibly relieved lol. This whole series has been racking around in my brain for a while with different endings but this is the one that I feel is the best fit. So, I hope you all like it.

“This already feels like old times; doesn’t it, Mai-cchi.” Kise says while stretching out before the rest of their old teammates came. The two blondes were overly excited about reuniting with the others that they had showed up an hour before the decided time. Meanwhile, Kise thought it would be a good time to persuade her to come to Kaijo. Showing off how much he’s improved in every way including his team work.

“We haven’t even started yet.”

“Yeah but you used to train me all the time one on one before. We spent a lot of time together.” It was where Kise started to have genuine feelings for the girl. Before his interest was just piqued because of her own lack of interest in him, but then when he was put onto the team and spent more time with her there were little moments that made him fall for her. To him those training sessions were fond memories that he found himself still to this day looking back on.

Maimi never thought much about it but Kise was one of the only ones from the team that didn’t abandon her, or make her feel useless. She felt that she didn’t hold a place on the team any longer when the others didn’t come to her for advice like before. Midorima unknowingly did the same thing due to his accuracy increasing almost overnight. Aomine had already broken up with her by then and she would have preferred to stay far away from Akashi during that time with the way he obsessed over her. Kise was the only one that she continued to have a healthy relationship with and those moments with him became the light in her darkest times. She always saw him as the popular model that everyone swooned over how perfect he was, but when it was just them he transformed into any awkward and goofy middle school boy. She made her feel normal for the hour or two they would spend together training. “Yeah I guess you’re right.” She smiles fondly thinking back to when he first started playing. “I spent the most time with you out of everyone.”

“Well I was just starting! Of course it would be like that.” He pouts but as someone who normally picks up every sport pretty easily he was a bit embarrassed about that fact.

“Yeah and I never minded. In fact I’m glad you were on the team after everything happened. I needed a distraction from everything and you were the only one that could take my mind off it all.” Kise was a bit shocked that she cherished the same moments as himself. While it was for different reasons that small bit of hope made him blush. He looks back at her to see her holding onto the old worn down basketball looking at him with that sweet smile that had his heart racing. It was the same one that she showed him when he first started training with her and dunked his first ball. That smile that made him fall for her slowly and held a tight grip on his heart strings. “Maimi-“ he wanted to finally speak up about his feelings but was sadly interrupted by a familiar pink head. “Ki-chan! Mimi-chan! Good morning!”

The pair turn their heads in the direction Momo’s voice came from to see her walking with Aomine. “Good morning Momo.” Maimi smiles when her best friend runs up to hug her. “Momocchi, Aominecchi.”

“You guys are way too early.” Aomine’s normal quips but this time it had more to do with the position they originally were in. He could recognize that look on Kise’s face. There was still a small bit of a blush on his ears that made Aomine scoff in irritation. “But events like these almost never happen.”

“Are we the only ones here?”

“I’m here, too.” Aomine was startled by Kuroko’s sudden appearance but the other three were so used to his actions that they were more excited than anything else to see the birthday boy in person. “Kuokocchi, good morning.”

“Tetsu-kun!” Momo practically tackles the boy holding him close for a tight hug. “I can’t breathe, Momoi-san.”

Maimi giggles at the passive boy. He seemed to only show his emotions on the court. “Good morning Tetsu. Happy Birthday.” Maimi says with a wave which he returns along with a strained smile from being squeezed so tight. “Happy Birthday.” Momo smiles up at her long term crush and reaches for the present she made for him. “Thank you both.”

“This is for you.”

“I’m delighted. Can I open it?”

“Yeah.” Maimi thought their interactions were sweet and innocent. It made her want to pinch Momo’s cheeks seeing how cute she looked while blushing.

When Kuroko opened the pink present he took out a scarf that was Momo’s signature color. “Hey this is that thing you’ve been knitting lately.”

“You made it yourself?”

“It’s cute! It looks like you bought it at a store.”

“Um, if you don’t like the color, you don’t need to use it.”

“I don’t mind it all. I’ll treasure it.” The pure happiness that was on Momo’s face that he would accept her gift made Maimi smile as well. Seeing her friend look so excited at such a simple act made her heart warm. She would have to give her gift to Kuroko later on.

The moment was interrupted by a bicycle bell ringing followed by another voice calling out to them. “Hey, hey, hey. Thanks for waiting.”

“Takao-kun. And…”

“Midorin!”

“Takao, I only told you to buy me my lucky item.”

“Yeah, yeah. You’re not getting it until you get out.” The dried mushrooms were no doubt the lucky item of the day for some odd reason. While the three were confused by it wanting to question their off friend it didn’t seem to make the blonde waver. “Oh come on Shin! Stop being a tsundere, it's Kuroko’s birthday.” She runs up to him to hug him while pulling him out of the cart. “Mimi! I got it! Get off me!” The duo were almost complete opposites but the way they acted you could already tell they were incredibly close like siblings. When Midorima finally got out of the cart he snatched the mushrooms away from Takao who was silently laughing at the pair's interaction, and pushed his glasses up to fix them after the altercation. “Don’t do that Mimi. You could have gotten hurt.”

“I know, I know don’t worry.”

“As promised, I brought him here.”

“Thanks Takao.” Maimi waves at him with a smile that has the boy love struck for a moment. Midorima on the other hand was confused, “Mimi did you…”

“Oh yeah, after you called Takao he called me.” It was an innocent look to show that it was just a simple interaction but Midorima; along with the other two boys that had feelings for the friendly girl, glared at Takao. “Why do you have Mimi’s number?”

Sensing the animosity Takao was already peddling away from the group. “Have fun guys.”

“Well as long as I’m here, I suppose I must participate.”

“You’re a difficult one, aren’t you?”

“Of course he is. He’s a tsundere.”

Deciding to just ignore them, Midorima hands over a small baby chick charm to the birthday boy, “Kuroko.”

“What is this?”

“It’s aquarius’s lucky item for the day. It wouldn’t be any fun if something happened to you on your birthday.”

“Oh right, thank you.”

Maimi giggles and decides to add on, “You know the last person he gave a lucky item to was me on our first day of middle school. You must be pretty special Kuroko.”

“Mimi.” He tries to warn her but he was already embarrassed at being called out.

“He meant to come all along.”

Midorima just pinches Maimi’s cheek but because it was so light as not to hurt her she just laughs. While looking at the two close friends Momo gasps in happiness to see Akashi walking up to their group. “Akashi-kun.” Kuroko greets the captain first who smiles fondly. The familiar look in his eyes made Maimi feel at ease. Besides Midorima she considered Akashi a brother as well. Always looking up to him and asking for advice. He was the only one that was probably able to keep up with her mind at times which made her feel confident enough to speak up back then. “Hey guys. Thanks for waiting.”

“Akashicchi, you came all the way from Kyoto.”

“Yeah. Kuroko happy birthday.”

“Thank you.”

“It’s been a while. Not since middle school, huh?“

“Yeah, you’re right.”

“That’s five of us here.”

“Muraskibara.”

“Muraskibara should be getting here soon.”

“What?”

The trees beside them rustled and a lazy greeting followed after. “Morning guys.”

“Mukkun!”

“Wow, Akashi was right.”

“That’s not very surprising.”

“But Muraskibara, you really didn’t want to come.”

“I just stopped by since I was already in Tokyo.”

“What? You were?”

“I scheduled a practice game between Rakuzan and Yosen. Since we’re located far away from each other, we decided to meet in the middle.”

“Thanks Akashi-kun! Now everyone is here.”

“Shall we get started?”

They all played 3 on 3 like they used to. It was impossible for Maimi to play with how awkward and clumsy she was so the chance of the girls being included in the match seemed slim. But that didn’t stop them all from having fun. In fact it all felt like old times when things were simple. Watching on, the girls were allowed to reminisce and talk about their future plans. “You’re going to transfer soon?

“Yeah for our second year. I’ve already narrowed it down to Seiren or Kaijo.”

Momo knew that the reason why she wasn’t considering Too was because of Aomine specifically but the thing was he seemed to be getting better now. He wasn’t as irritating or mean. He didn’t have random mood swings anymore. He was beginning to love basketball again. She knew that was the reason why Maimi was so infatuated with him before and some part of her wished that they would be able to work it out in the end. Thinking that with Maimi in the picture the pair could go back to normal. “Mimi-chan, would you ever consider Too?”

“Hm…truthfully I did think about it. Some part of me thought that I could but then I realized that I don’t want that. I’ll always love Aomine. He was the first person I’ve ever loved and who made me feel like I could be a better version of myself. But that’s the thing I tried so hard to be good enough for him, relying my whole self worth on him that I lost a bit of myself when he left me. So, while yes he’s changed for the better he’s still not the person I can see myself with now. Knowing him would just make him feel worse and I don’t see him giving up if I go to Too. It just seems better for both of us to focus and get better so that we go our own ways.”

Momo was never sure on how she felt since they’ve all moved on. The last time she saw her it seemed like she had matured more than expected. She held herself high like she was a dignified lady. She only looked forward with maybe a glance here and there but she didn’t seem to feel the need to look back in her past. It was more like she went to get the closure she needed. Now with all their issues being resolved her first step needed to be forward. She felt for Aomine as her best friend since childhood but she wanted what was best for Maimi as well. So with a small smile and nod they continued on to another topic. With how everything seemed to be going back to normal she couldn’t help but hope that another part would be fixable.

Seeing them all playing together brought back memories of when they all used to hang out together as a group. Everyone seemed to be getting along again which made Momo start getting teary eyed. “It’s your turn Momo.”

“Me?”

“Of course everyone is waiting.” She looks up to see the boys all sweating from their other matches but smiling at the opportunity to play with one of their former managers. Momo looked over at Maimi who smiled warmly at her. “What about you Mimi?”

“Eh, no way I would just end up hurting myself again and ruining the whole day. You go.” Momo thinks back to the day she tried to play with the boys and realized that it was probably best. “Join us, Momo-san.”

“Momocchi, hurry up.”

“I won’t hold back just because you’re my manager.”

“You can at least go a little easy on me.” Running over to the rest of the others the two left behind smiled fondly at the sweet girl. “Alright!”

“I’m looking forward to the next inter high.” Akashi says.

“So am I. This time I think I’ll be able to be on the court with everyone again.” This catches his attention and makes him finally look at the girl next to him who continues to watch on as the others play. “You’ve decided on the school?”

“Yeah I think so.” He noticed that her eyes were trained on a certain blonde and the way that she looked at him was almost similar to the way she used to look at another. “Kaijo then it seems.”

“Of course you could tell. Yeah. I think Kaijo is where I’ll fit in best. Kise is there and I just feel that he has a lot to work on. With his injury I am a bit more concerned about him. Kuroko seems at peace where he’s at so I don’t want to squeeze myself into that team.”

“Are you happy now?”

“I am. I’m happy and I’m proud of myself for how far I’ve come.” Akashi knew almost every small quirk she had since middle school. Right now looking at her leaning forward with her elbow on her crossed legs she looked at peace. No longer was the anxious and unconfident girl that used to sit stiff as a board while chewing on her lip. Her eyes glowed with anticipation at watching everyone play. It was a look he hadn’t seen on her face. She looked more sure of herself and it made him realize that it was because she finally found her own happiness without everyone there to pressure her. When he heard that she would be going to an all girls school the other part of him was angry but the real Akashi was scared. That once she walked away she wouldn’t ever turn back. It was why the more selfish side of him trapped her. Keeping her to himself thinking that the problem stemmed from everyone else but him. That if he protected her from the others she would keep looking his way at least. Then somehow in the midst of that she began to change on her own. She no longer needed the cage, instead she opened it herself when she felt ready to and despite his fears she never turned her back on him or the others. In fact she helped bring them back together again. He was worried for nothing and somehow despite believing that he was able to see everything with his emperor eye; he never saw that part of her would never change.

As if noticing his stares she looks back at him curious. “What-“

“I’m sorry.” In all the time she spent with Akashi she found herself lost in words. “I didn’t mean to hurt you this entire time. I didn’t want to use you or anything in that nature that the other side of me said. I wanted to keep you safe when I saw you hurting. I didn’t know what else to do without full control so I’m sorry.”

Maimi knew that the person that trapped her in wasn’t the real Akashi. She never believed he would ever be capable of doing the things he said. Not giving her the freedom she wanted. Somehow though she felt abandoned by Akashi. Believing that if the real him was actually there then maybe things would have been better but she knew that he was the one that set the plan in motion to have Aomine break up with her. He whispered in his ear to tear the two apart when he realized that Aomine was no longer treating her the way he did before. She knew that in that “evil” side of Akashi he was just trying to protect her from Aomine in his own twisted way. She never held that against him; what always hurt her was the fact that she couldn’t rely on the real Akashi any longer.

Maimi teared up a bit hearing the words she always wanted to hear from him before she leaned against him. “I’m sorry, too. I blamed you for leaving me but I guess you never really did.” Akashi smiles down at her while he brings her in for a side hug.

The rest of the day went well and without any problems. The sun was already going down by the time they all gathered back up again. “Isn’t Akashi the only one who didn’t lose?”

“Is that right?”

“You always get the best deal for yourself.”

“It may be just a game, but it’s still irritating.”

“I’m hungry.”

“Shall we call it then?”

“Yes.”

“Wait. Before that, why don’t we take a group picture?” While there was some disagreement with the more grumpy of the bunch, everyone eventually found themselves gathering together in front of the camera Momoi set up.

“Hurry up, Satsuki.”

“Give me a second. Okay.” The beeping from the camera gives her the signal to run back over to join everyone. A loud yawn from Muraskibara irritates Midorima as usual. “Don’t yawn, Muraskibara.”

“I came here first thing in the morning. I can’t help it.”

“Smile everyone.” Momo and Maimi wrap their arms around each other to smile and pose together which inspired Kise to do the same with his favorite person. “Kurokocchi, pose with me.”

“What?”

“Did you get it?” Momo went to check the picture with Maimi looking over her shoulder as well. “Yeah it’s perfect, I think.”

“Yeah it definitely captures the essence of everyone.” Maimi giggles, noticing everyone’s personality somehow coming to life. “Could you send me that picture later?”

“Of course. I’ll get it printed right away.”

“Thank you.”

“Oh me too.” Maimi raises her hand while grabbing her bag. “It’s the greatest present.” Kuroko says while looking at everyone gathered together once again like they were back in middle school. “So are we going our separate ways already?”

“Actually my teammates from Seiren are having a birthday party for me. Do you all want to come?” With Kuroko’s invitation they all agreed in unison that today was too good to end it already. It was unknown when the next time it would be before everyone got together like this. So, with that the group go their own way to get dressed into regular clothes and decide to meet in front of a convenience store down the street from Taiga’s apartment. Midorima and Maimi walked together since their family homes were still close together. “You took forever to get dressed, Shin.” Maimi whines.

“I can’t go to another’s house smelling like sweat. That would be unseemly. Besides, you're the one that almost forgot the cake and we had to go back.”

“Yeah, yeah.” She waves him off to tease the taller boy but he couldn’t say anything, noticing that everyone was already waiting. “See? We’re the last ones here.”

“Maimi! You look so pretty.” Momo’s eyes twinkle at the sight of the blonde. She thought she looked cute the last time they saw one another but today she couldn’t help but admire how pretty she was. “So are you Momo.”

“Wow, Maicchi you’re gorgeous.” Kise compliments as well, setting his eyes on her. The entire time waiting he was practically bouncing in place excited to see her dressed in something else beside a school uniform or training clothes. From what he’s heard from magazines is that girls have a different air about them in their regular clothes and they weren’t wrong in this case. He wanted to walk closer to her but Aomine grabbed him by the back of his shirt. He looked irritated at the attention she was getting. “Come on Tetsu. Show us where Taiga’s house is.”

Kuroko didn’t argue and instead walked the way that would lead them to the front of his home. “Is that a cake, Maimi?” He asks, noticing the container in her hands. “Oh yeah of course. Can’t have a party without a cake. I wish I knew that your friends were throwing a party though. I hope they didn’t bring a cake.”

“It should be fine.”

“I haven’t eaten your food since middle school. I’ll eat it all if no one else does.” Muraskibara drawles out, already eyeing the baked goods. “I’ll eat it too, Maicchi. Don’t worry we won’t let it go to waste.”

From the looks of it Taiga’s home was pretty big and seemed nice from the outside. Ringing the doorbell the group was greeted by a brown haired boy. “Good evening.” Once he caught sight of their group though he looked like he was going to have a stroke. “Hey. Furihata-kun, right?”

“A-Akashi?”

Kuroko peaked from behind the red head. “I brought my friends.” This warranted a scream apparently which surprised everyone watching the poor kid shake in his own boots. Noticing he was frozen in place Maimi looked up at Muraskibara, “Can you help him Mura?”

“Suuure.” The kid practically weighed nothing to him so they all stepped inside out of the cold.

“You’re late, senpai.”

“You live in a pretty nice place, don’t you?”

“Aomine? What are you doing?” One by one everyone stepped into the spacious area causing more of a stir at the site of the prestigious group. “Captain, Izuki-senpai, I’m surprised. You’re here, too?”

“We’re surprised too.”

“Excuse the intrusion. I’m Rakuzan’s Akashi.” The formal introduction made Maimi laugh, especially when they voiced her thoughts out loud. “We know who you are.”

“Takao, what are you doing here?”

“What are you doing here? Boy this is great so chaotic.”

“Atsushi.”

“Murochin, is this where you've been?”

In the background Aomine was making himself at home looking around for entertainment. “You’re no fun. You don’t have a single dirty magazine?”

“Dai-chin!”

“I’m not like you!” Maimi just shakes her head and taps Taiga on the shoulder. “I brought a cake. I hope you don’t mind.”

“Oh thank you.” He grabs it from her small delicate hands and some part of him feels embarrassed. “No problem. I’m sorry about him. He’s well…well there’s not much to say about him. You probably already know.”

“Oh you shouldn’t have to apologize for him.” Maimi nods and takes a seat next to Kise who was saving the seat specially for her.

“Don’t start eating snacks as soon as you arrive. It’s rude. Don’t eat the kiritanpo, either.”

“Atsushi, you have to wash your hands first.”

“Okay.”

“Maicchi, have you already decided to come to Kaijo with me right?”

“Actually I haven’t told you yet, huh? I already put my transfer in.”

“Yay! You’re going to have a blast there.”

While everyone does their own thing and relaxes into their own conversation the rest of the party arrives just as confused as everyone else. “What's going on here? All of the Generation of Miracles are here?”

“Hey Murasakibara. You’re here, too?”

“Ugh, Kiyoshi.”

“Be nice Mura.” Maimi said, which was followed by his teammate. “Hey, Atsushi. Don’t make that face.” A random dog bark caught everyone’s attention but Taiga’s face looked like one of fear. “Number 2.” If Maimi didn’t know better she would think they were sworn enemies. Once she saw the small husky she found herself along with a few others gathering in front of the dog to pet him. “He’s always so cute.”

“How adorable. Look at his little jersey!”

“Is number 2 his name? Does that mean there’s a number 1?” Maimi’s head turned around quickly to find another husky trotting around without her knowing. Instead the two upper class men point to Kuroko. “Right here.”

“Hello I’m number 1.” Maimi couldn’t help but laugh again at the coincidence.

“Don’t they look alike?”

“Indeed.”

“This is quite the crowd.”

“Sorry.”

“Don’t apologize. The more the merrier.”

“Yes.” Now that everyone was here it was time to eat. Maimi couldn’t help but admire her surroundings mixed with both new and old faces. Kise and Momo were forcing poor Kuroko to eat a mountain, Aomine and Taiga competing on who can eat more with the Seiren coach there to feed their plates, Midorima searching frantically for his lucky item and realizing everyone was currently eating it, Muraskibara stuffing his face in peace, Akashi making friends with the timing boy at the door from earlier, the rest of Seiren showing their true goofy personalities. Everything was a scene that she wanted to engrave into her mind. She hadn’t had this much fun in a while. “I want Maimi’s cake.” Muraskibara says while grabbing the entire plate it sat on in the center of the table.

“I do too! You can’t just hog it!”

“I haven’t had it forever.”

“Neither have I!”

“None of us have put it down so we can enjoy it.” Midorima being the forever tsundere he was didn’t want to admit out loud he missed her baking. He grew up being her taste tester and somehow grew to have a sweet tooth for her goodies. “All of us can share my cake.” She leans forward to cut it into even slices. Akashi had made his way over to the other side of the table to grab a slice but he found himself admiring her. She really did grow to be even more beautiful than when they first started dating. She filled out in all the right places and somehow felt like a middle school kid again blushing at the sight of her leaning forward cutting the cake for everyone. Imagining what it would be like when they got older and got married somehow. He questioned if it would be like this forever. Him simply admiring her from across the table but his day dream was interrupted at the sight of Kise having the same look on his face beside her. Instead of sitting back though he got onto his knees beside her and ended up helping her with distributing the cake to everyone. She smiled up at him with that same smile he wished was only made for him. In this moment he hated being able to read her so well because he could see it clearly now that her happiness wasn’t with him anymore. “Aomine, do you want a slice?”

She had the same polite smile that she showed everyone. That look was no longer reserved for just him anymore. “Yeah.” Grabbing the piece from Kise’s hands he looks down at it to start eating. The cake was meant to be sweet but he couldn’t help but taste nothing but bitterness each bite.

The party came to a stop when it got too late but while everyone was getting ready to pile out Aomine grabbed onto Maimi’s arm. “Can we talk?”

“Hm? Well sure but it’s kind of late.”

“It won’t be long.”

“What are two doing?” Kise comes up beside them with a smile to cover up his growing anxiety that Aomine would steal her away again.

“We-“

“We’ll see you guys.” Aomine pulls her after him at a sprinting pace that she could barely catch up to. “Aomine!”

He looks back at her with that big toothy smile that used to melt her heart, “Don’t worry we’ll be there soon.” Her mind didn’t have anything to say back. She was too busy admiring how similar he looked now to that day he took her hand.

They ran for some time until Aomine stopped signaling that they finally made it to their destination and Maimi would be able to take a breather. It wasn’t until she looked up did she realize that they stood in front of the stairs that they used to walk hand in hand down to their favorite place. Down those steps was the river way they used to frequent whenever they were able to find some time together. It was where they had their first kiss and the place they called their own. “Come on.” Aomine takes the first few steps down the steep stairs before he turns back around to take her hand again. Just like he always did back then to make sure her clumsy self didn’t topple down. She surprisingly didn’t stop him and allowed the passive looking boy to keep holding on even when they made it on flat land. The grass was now a bit taller like no one has touched it since they last came here, the straw like fibers flowing along with the crisp winter air. Maimi couldn’t help but admire the starry night before she realized Aomine had taken a seat on the fluffy greenery.

Aomine was also in his own world looking up at the sky that once fascinated him. The view here was always his favorite thing to witness in the busy city. It was own piece of heaven that he didn’t allow anyone else to witness beside her. Back then she was his heaven that he got to take with him everywhere rather than in the late hours when everyone was tucked away into their own beds at home. He wasn’t sure when the dark thoughts first came about, or when his anger and insecurities turned him into such a volatile shell of who he once was. The pain that he saw in her eyes when he broke up with her almost woke him up from that self destructive nature but he continued to storm away in his own fit of anger. Refusing to look back no matter how much that part of him screamed at him to do so. There was not much he regretted after coming to Too High; but along with betraying Kuroko’s friendship, letting her go was the one thing he wished he could have stopped himself from doing.

The empty space beside him was taken up by her once again despite the short skirt she had on. While he was about to take his jacket off to cover her legs she just waved him off. “It’s fine. I’m wearing shorts underneath. So why did you drag me here?”

He shrugs and replies, “I wanted to spend some time with you. It’s been a while.”

“Well that’s for a good reason and that reason was because of you. So, what's up?” Aomine was surprised at her quip but couldn’t disagree. Everything was his own fault and he was feeling the full force of that karma now. “I’ve missed you. I see the way you’ve talking to everyone. How you forgave Akashi. How you’ve been looking at Kise lately. I guess I wanted to talk to you before anything happens and say I’m sorry too before it’s too late.”

It was a long pregnant moment while those words sank in. For the longest time that was all the girl wanted to hear from her first love. An acknowledgment of her pain and an apology to follow. If he had done that just months ago she would have forgiven him and possibly taken him back without a second to spare, but she wasn’t the same. She was no longer the feeble young girl that looked to him or others for her own self worth. She was happy on her own right now being independent, but it didn’t mean that apology no longer mattered. When those words finally left her mouth Maimi felt revived. It had been weighing on her for so long, unsolved, that being able to speak her mind in front of the boy that broke her heart made her shoulders feel lighter than before. Aomine was hurt that she ended any hope that they would find their way back to each other, but he knew that it was more his pride being hurt than anything else. When he looked at her and saw the lighter expression she had now looking up at the stars he knew that there was nothing more to say. He wouldn’t bother her for more time, he would have to be okay with what they had already. It wasn’t her job to make him feel at peace with this, so he just smiled fondly at her side profile. She was much more beautiful this way anyway.

The couple sat in the same spot they spent most of their middle school years goofing off. The stream was steadily flowing as it normally did. The sound of the water was calming to the young girl but the memories that the place brought had stopped her from returning.

They were silent, taking in the moment they both had unknowingly been waiting for since the day they last parted. When they both decided to walk away from the memories they shared. It was a calming moment for them to sit beside each other without holding contempt, or fear in their hearts. All the good memories seemed to be washed away with the bad when they last met. However, time always heals if you allow it to.

The young blonde girl thought back to their last big fight that stopped their dreamlike love story in its tracks, and smiled. She could remember his words piercing through her heart at the time, but now it seemed to all make sense. They were young kids trying to figure out who they were still. Although it doesn’t excuse the hurt he caused her at the time it made her realize that they were both frantically trying to fight for a different outcome. She couldn’t sacrifice herself to be his emotional punching bag, and he was too lost in his own world to realize the truth in front of him.

She wanted to believe that if things were different, or had noticed his change of attitude sooner perhaps there could have been a better outcome for them. However at this moment she knew that they were both already in the places they should be. He was beginning to look forward to basketball again. She was beginning to love herself. They were on their own paths in life and they were both content with that fact.

this is very far in the future surrogate au but i thought it would be kind of cute to see toddler surrogate au nico with mina so also there will be a second part so don’t worry !! my head hurts so i just wanted to post what i have to keep up my post streak hehe

Sana moving in with them was a good thing. The girls were all really happy with Sana there all the time. Nico was getting older, and she was already splitting her time with Jihyo and Sana. Mina and Nayeon lived closer to Jihyo than Sana and Momo, and since Momo had been trying to move in with her girlfriend for months now, Sana thought it was just the right decision. It had been three years since she was introduced to the girls as their biological mom, and it felt like Sana had been there for the girls’ entire lives. It honestly felt like she never even left. Both in her relationship with the girls and with her relationship with Mina and Nayeon.

About a year into the co-parenting thing with Sana, old feelings started to come out to play. It took months of mutual pining and their friends had to basically lock them in a room together, but eventually, the three of them realized that while they had been hurt in the past, they had all grown and were ready to be together again. And really, it was great. The girls loved their relationship, even Nico. She was only about one and a half at the time, and all she did was giggle while everyone tried to explain things to her. To her, the only thing that changed was that Auntie Nana and Auntie Mimi became Nana and Ka-san. Sana had asked if Nayeon wanted a better nickname than Nana, but apparently, she was honored by the nickname and if that was what Nico wanted to call her, that’s what she was going to be.

Everyone was happy when Sana moved in with them. There was only one thing that was slightly bothering Mina and Nayeon.

And that was the fact that despite the fact Nico had lived with them half of the time for almost a year now, Sana had never left Nico alone with the two of them. Mina and Nayeon hadn’t even noticed it at first, but they started to notice the way the Sana would go out of her way to find a place for Nico when she was busy. And they were just confused. Nico had been staying with them for a year, they were just confused as to why Sana did not trust them with her.

“Momo are you sure?” Sana sighed as she walked into the kitchen. Mina was alone with Nico, giving the three-year-old her afternoon snack before the older four girls came bursting through their front door. “Please?” Mina could tell the conversation was not going well. Nico looked up at Mina from her peanut butter toast, pointing to her cup. “More please?” Nico asked.

“Good job saying please. You can have a little bit. But after that, I’m going to need to cut you off.” Mina smiled at Nico, moving to get some apple juice for her girlfriend’s daughter.

“Okay Momo, see you tomorrow.” Sana sighed as she got off the phone. “Hi, love. Hi baby girl.” Sana kissed Mina’s cheek before moving to kiss Nico’s cheek. “Can mommy have some?” “No,” Nico whined. “My snack.” “Okay.” Sana giggled. “Bad news baby girl, Auntie Momo can’t hang out with you on Friday.”

“Mama?” Nico asked.

“Mama and Changie are in Hawaii remember?” Jihyo had kept Nico last week knowing she was going to be gone for most of the weekend. The normal pattern was that Nico would be with Sana for the first half of the week and then Jihyo would take her on Wednesday and keep her until Saturday. Usually, they would do something together on Sunday. It seemed to work for preschool, but they were talking about changing it a little bit once she started elementary school.

“Oh yeah.” Nico nodded, smiling when Mina handed her her juice. “Jihyo and Chaeyoung are in Hawaii?” Mina asked. Sana joined her on the other side of the counter.

“They are going to have some couple time,” Sana explained. “They have always wanted to go to Hawaii. Jihyo wanted to bring Nico, but we decided against it.”

“Mama is going to give Chaengie a pretty ring.” Nico giggled. “Nico! You were supposed to keep that a secret!” Sana giggled. “Jihyo is proposing?” Mina asked in shock.

“She wanted to keep it a secret, but yes.” Sana laughed. “Nico was supposed to keep it a secret.” “I’m surprised she told her.” Mina giggled. “Three-year-olds aren’t great at keeping secrets.”

“Someone found their mama’s special ring while they were playing hide and seek,” Sana answered, wrapping her arms around Mina and resting her chin on her shoulder.

“It was really really pretty,” Nico explained. “Was it?” Mina smiled at Nico. “Are you all done?” “Uh-hum.” Nico took another sip of juice, her plate empty in front of her.

“Okay, why don’t you go watch some cartoons until your Unnies get home.” Nico nodded eagerly, holding her arms out for one of them to let her down from the barstool. Sana let her down, and Nico ran off. “It’s sweet Jihyo is proposing in Hawaii,” Mina commented once Nico was out of the room.

“Yeah, it’s been a long time coming for those two, I’m really happy for them. I tried to explain what a wedding was to Nico, and she’s already really excited.” Sana giggled moving to help Mina with the dishes. “You think Chaeyoung is going to say yes?” Mina joked.

“Mina I think Chaeyoung will be mad at herself for not thinking of it first,” Sana answered. “Anyway, I need to find a place for Nico this Friday. It also happens to be Momo and Tzuyu’s year anniversary and as much as she’s basically Nico’s mom too, it is fair she wants to spend it without her.” “We can watch Nico.” Mina shrugged. “The girls are going to a sleepover party, Nayeon and I will be by ourselves.” “I don’t know…” “Sana, you know I love you and that we love Nico. I’m just a little confused as to why you never want to leave her alone with us.” Mina sighed. It had been bothering her for months, and now that Momo and Jihyo weren’t here to take Nico she was frustrated she and Nayeon would not be the next logical choice.

“I don’t know…” Sana trailed off. “It just, to Nayeon and I, feels like you don’t trust us. We’ve watched while you are in the other room, we’ve taken her out on walks with us and Kookeu, she’s going to be okay.”

“I get that- I’m just. I’m worried. Nico is so picky. She’s only ever been with me, or Jihyo, or Momo. I’m scared that she won’t do well with other people and I really want her to get along with you and Nayeon and the other girls. I really like getting to be here with all of you, and I’m just scared Nico isn’t liking it as much as I am.” Sana explained. “Look I get it. We were scared to let the quads be watched by anyone that wasn’t me, or Nayeon, or Tzuyu. And if I’m being honest we tried not to let it happen. There came times where it couldn’t be helped, and it was scary. But you, Jihyo, and Momo can’t be with her every single day. And as scary as it is, she needs to learn to be around other people.” Mina wrapped Sana up in a hug. “Okay.” Sana sighed. “Your right. I’m sorry.” “Don’t be sorry. Your feelings are valid. I’ll call you after dinner and before bedtime, okay?” “Okay.” Sana sighed in relief. “Let’s ask her what she thinks too though.” “Sure.” Mina nodded. “Nico! Can you come in here?” “What?” Nico bounced into the room, holding her stuffed polar bear close to her body. One of her pigtails was falling out and for some reason, one of her socks disappeared but honestly, Mina was just used to it with toddlers.

“Is it okay if you stay with Ka-san and Nana this Friday while mommy is at work?” Sana asked, bending down to Nico’s level to fix one of her pigtails.

“Yeah.” Nico shrugged. “Ka-san and Nana are fun.” “Oh yeah?” Mina asked.

“Yeah. Nana gives me ice cream and Ka-san teaches me to play games.” “Nayeon gives her ice cream?” Sana asked, looking at Mina accusingly.

“To be fair, it’s never when I’m in the room.” Mina defended herself. “Well- anyway. Be good for them okay Nico?” “Okay.” Nico nodded. “Cartoon?” “Go watch before your sisters get back and demand TV time.” Nico giggled and ran off.

“Sana, she will be okay,” Mina reassured. “I will call you if anything seems even slightly off, I promise.”

“I know, I know. You are a good mom, I’m just anxious.” Sana sighed.

“I know. But she will be okay, promise.” Mina leaned forward and kissed Sana.

“Promise.” Sana nodded, leaning in to kiss Mina again.

Author’s Note: I’m a Bakuhoe and it is so evident ughhh. So I’d been to Hong Kong earlier this year and I visited Ocean Park and fell in love with the place! It’s the amusement part I’ve based off of for this one-shot. I personally think Theme Park AUs should be a thing, you know? I don’t personally know how things work, so I just made things up here. Hope ya’ll like this!

As soon as you wore your uniform and stepped out of the locker room, you heard a scream.

“Help me! Somebody help me!”

You were late to work that day. You came in an hour late (a very reasonable excuse, if you had to say so yourself). You blinked before trying to find the source of the scream, scanning your eyes amongst the crowd of children and grown-ups in front of the queue leading to the aquarium. You sighed before walking over to a small child, whose hands were being held by his father, you presumed, and crouched down with a smile.

“Is something wrong, sir?”

The child looked at you and blinked before saying, “He isn’t buying me ice-cream!”

His father shot you an apologetic look, which you returned warmly.

“Maybe, you can get ice-cream after the aquarium visit? The fish aren’t allowed to have ice-cream, they’ll get jealous!”

The little boy’s eyes widened, before looking at his dad, who shot him a heartwarming smile. As the boy cheered, you bowed and made your way into the aquarium.

You were incredibly happy with your life and your job—but after a certain incident, you were demoted. You were once a part of the dolphin crew—the best job, according to you, in Ocean World. You sighed as you thought about the dolphins and seals you were working with, you missed them and though it wasn’t as if you weren’t allowed to visit them, not working with them in those little skits broke your heart.

Stupid Mineta, you thought before grumbling and heading to your current post. Well, at least he lost his job or fucking quit, I’ve no clue, you thought.

You were currently in charge of the aquarium section—answering queries, if any, watching over the bigger fish, ensuring the tanks were clean and managing the crowds too. It wasn’t much on most days, but during weekends, it was jam-packed. You used to be one of the lead performers in the Ocean World’s dolphin and seal act—alongside the one and only Tsuyu Asui. Thanks to a little grabbing and slapping incident involving a regular pervert, Mineta (who was most probably fired or forced to resign, either one), you were asked very kindly to shift departments.

While the entire ordeal was unfair, there was little you could do. You were given the hope that when things died down (you did not know what this meant), you could return. The best part about working in Ocean World was that you knew almost everyone who worked there.

The head of the aquarium department was Midoriya Izuku, a close friend of yours from when you were in school. His knowledge of aquatic animals and plants was tenfold, there was no one who knew better than him. He was kind and stern when he had to be, and children adored him. The aquarium was large and the departments that were connected to it were—the Koala reserve, the Panda reserve, and the reptile section.

Your good friends Jirou Kyouka and Yaoyarozu Momo worked in the Koala reserve, with Momo being a ranger herself. The Panda reserve had Kaminari Denki and Uraraka Ochako working there, and Uraraka was someone you constantly met with to share hot gossip, even when you were working with the dolphins and seals. The reptile section was headed by Bakugou Katsuki and Kirishima Eirjiro, but there was a slight problem there.

Bakugou Katsuki did not like you.

And it wasn’t as if you hid your dislike for him, either.

Kirishima was often struck in the middle amongst your bickering but rarely said a word because only often does he get to enjoy two of his friends fight about the silliest things like water bottles or broken plastic chairs.

It wasn’t as if you hated one another, no; Bakugou and you shared a weird relationship. You’ve known Bakugou for as long as you’ve known Izuku, and you could even call yourselves friends. But, the deal was very simple.

There was a point in your life when you had a large crush on him, and there was a point in his life when he knew about it. However, there was no confession and there was no rejection—things were left floating in the air until those feelings evaporated in its entirety. You two now shared a weird kinship, bickering all the time but not letting it get too far if the other had a problem.

When you were working with Asui, you rarely got to see Bakugou. The man never ate with the others, stuck to working all the damn time, and barely ever hung out after. He had a schedule he stuck to like nothing else—and this was perhaps why his only friend was Kirishima and sometimes, Midoriya tried to talk to him as well.

“(y/n)-chan!” Izuku whisper-yelled as soon as he spotted you.

He was standing in front of the tank that contained sawfish. You blinked before walking over to him, wondering what the whisper-yelling was about.

“Izuku-kun? What’s wrong—”

“It’s Kacchan.”

You hated that the situation began with ‘It’s Kacchan’ like it was a problem you had to deal with. You didn’t want to, but despite everything, Izuku was still your friend and it meant dealing with his friends from time to time as well.

Groaning, “What’s wrong this time?”

“The boys were getting beer last night and somehow Kacchan joined us, maybe Kirishima-kun forced him to, I don’t know... So, things got... Things got a bit—”

“Excuse me, miss?”

You turned around to spot a lone parent with a worried expression.

“Yes?”

“I can’t seem to find my daughter... I’m worried, she doesn’t have a phone on her, can you—”

Your eyes widened, “Do you have a picture of her, ma’am? We’ll get on it right away. Izuku-kun, can you announce her name on the loudspeaker?”

Midoriya paused instantly and nodded, “Of course! Ma’am, please give us a picture of your daughter?”

“She’s 7 years old... She’s deathly afraid of water, I wanted to bring her here to show her that it isn’t all that bad! I didn’t think she’d run away—”

“Ma’am, I’m sure she’s fine. This is a big place, but we will find her. Rest assured. What’s her name?”

“Mimi. Ito Mimi.”

You nodded once before taking the picture from the mother and showing it to Izuku. Midoriya ran off to the mic station to make an announcement, and you started to look around inside. You instantly posted a message of Mimi’s picture and name in the Ocean World group on WhatsApp.

You sighed before holding your phone in your hand and scanning each and every child’s face in the aquarium. A second later, Izuku’s voice was heard on the loudspeaker, announcing Mimi’s name and asking her to stay put wherever she is. He even stated that she should try and find someone wearing the Ocean World uniform and ask them to bring her to the Aquarium entrance.

A second later, your phone buzzed.

Your eyes narrowed when you noticed it was Bakugou who was calling you.

“I really don’t have time for—”

“Shut up, idiot. The kid’s here with me. She’s fucking crying and I don’t know what to do.”

You blinked.

“What?”

“Are you fucking slow or something? The kid’s with me—”

“Bakugou! What did you do? Did you make her cry?”

You couldn’t understand. Kirishima said there was no kid in the reptile section. But, where was Bakugou?

“Wait, where are you?”

You could hear him groan on the other end, “I’m near the amusement park. Outside the roller coaster.”

“What are you doing there?”

“Shut up and come get her.”

You let out a long sigh. Ocean World was large—it was the largest theme park in the entire country. Since half of the park was situated literally on top of a mountain, the park is separated by a large mountain into two areas, The Summit (Headland) and The Waterfront (Lowland). To get to the amusement park, you had to move from the Lowland to the Headland—and you can only do so by using a cable car (which takes close to 20 minutes on its own).

“Seriously, Bakugou,” You said, right before he hung up, “Is everything okay with you?”

You didn’t hear him curse, which was new. You heard him breathe on the other end and say not a word.

“Bakugou—”

“(y/n), just come get the girl. She’s scared and has no idea how she got here.”

You nodded once before ending the call. You wanted to drop a message on the group saying the girl has been found, but you decided you’d do so after seeing the girl first. You quickly rushed to Midoriya and grabbed him by the shoulder.

“Quickly tell me what’s up with Bakugou in like, 30 seconds.”

Izuku blinked, “We were drinking last night and we spoke a lot about you and Kacchan, not intentionally, but it just came up about how you two could have dated in school but didn’t and—”

“Oh my god, Izuku-kun, I will kill you—”

“But, Kacchan was quiet during the whole thing! I haven’t ever seen him so quiet before! It was strange... As if he was regretting something. Also, he called me Midoriya after and not Deku—”

“So weird.” You said, scrunching your eyebrows.

“Weird, indeed. But, it was Kaminari-kun who brought it up. Anyway, when Kirishima-kun asked Kacchan if he liked you back, he just up and left. We haven’t seen him since. He apparently took a day off today, too.”

A day off? You blinked. But, he just called me!

“Uh, okay. So, I think I know where Mimi-chan is, so I’m going to head there now, okay? We’ll talk about Bakugou after!”

“There really isn’t anything more to talk about, considering how he knew you liked him back then—”

“The entire school knew, Izuku-kun, I’m over it.”

“He just looked really depressed about it, that’s all. It’s like, the second your name was mentioned, Kacchan wasn’t Kacchan anymore.”

You felt your heart skip a beat at the mere thought. Nodding, you shot a personal message to Bakugou saying you were going to catch a cable car there and asked him not to move.

You giggled before rushing to the cable car section. Of course, he doesn’t use emojis.

You were glad it was a weekday, which meant the cable cars were free and you could literally hop on one before heading up to the Headland. Sighing, you sat inside the cable car and waited, wondering about Bakugou the entire time.

It was all true. You could have told Bakugou you liked him back then but chose not to. You didn’t know why, but some part of you wanted to get over him and not face rejection. There were many signs that showed he had an interest in you as well, but you assumed it was mainly because he knew you just as much as he knew Izuku. You got over your crush in less than a year—you even dated Monoma after that for a whole year! And after that ended badly, you decided you’d not date anyone in your close circle.

But, each time you did think of Bakugou, you felt sad. Almost as if you let something go—you barely knew him too well when you liked him, but there were things about him that were so attractive. He was focused and had his way with the reptiles. You’ve watched him with them, he wasn’t his usual loud and abrasive self. He cared for the reptiles and treated them all like children, despite reptiles being hated by so many for being physically repulsive. You wouldn’t deny it, you hated reptiles before Bakugou explained them to you.

They’re just misunderstood, he’d say.

You gulped when you thought of how you could apply his words for him as well. For the most part, Bakugou was misunderstood, and it was no fault of his. He was loud, true, and could be intimidating, for sure—but, he was kind and you had seen it and experienced it first hand.

Now, when you came to think of it, you couldn’t see why you never told him. And to think he knew about it—that shocked you more. He knew you liked him, and never told him, you only wondered what he thought of you.

Did he wonder why you never told him?

Did he... you gulped, Did he also...?

You shook your head before thinking of such things.

On reaching the Headland, you sighed before looking down at the 10-minute walk to the amusement park. You shot Bakugou a message saying you’d reached the Headland, asking him about his whereabouts.

You froze.

Your fingers were itching to type something in response to that, but you shoved your phone inside your pocket and made your way to the amusement park. You knew the entire theme park like the back of your hand, so what would normally take you 10 minutes, took you 4. You weren’t sprinting, but you were eager to see Bakugou more than ever before.

He wasn’t working, which meant he would have to be in civilian clothes. He walked out of a party or whatever it was, without saying a word—very unlike him to call Midoriya as Midoriya and not Deku, and it was very, very odd for Bakugou to say what he had just said.

For some strange reason, your heart was beating very fast. Suddenly, it felt like you had two hearts palpitating instead of one—your nervousness was profound.

It had been years since you had seen Bakugou alone without anyone else. It was a strange thing to think about when you were going to meet him alone, but it shocked you, too. You hadn’t been alone with Bakugou in more than 8 years almost, you were always with your friends or he was with Kirishima.

And the last time you were alone, you had a huge, huge, huge crush on him.

You spotted Bakugou sitting across a small child with brown hair. You sighed in relief when your eyes landed on him, but a second later, his eyes met yours—almost as if he knew you were there. You froze where you stood; suddenly, Bakugou was a remedy for heart palpitations. Or he made them worse. You couldn’t tell.

You walked over there and double-checked if the girl was the missing Mimi. It was.

“Mimi-chan,” you voiced, your heart still beating frantically, “Your mother is looking everywhere for you! She was so worried. What happened?”

“I wanted to see the cable cars...” She said, guiltily.

You sighed before placing a calm hand on her shoulder.

“Once you’re finished with your food, let’s go to your mother?”

She nodded happily and pointed to Bakugou, who was quietly sitting across her.

“Baku-san’s very nice! He bought me popcorn and cotton candy!”

You looked to Baku-san with amused eyes, “Baku-san sure is something else, isn’t he?”

Bakugou blushed with embarrassment, a very evident frown on his face.

“Baku-san’s the best!” Mimi exclaimed, causing you to giggle.

“He sure is—”

“Stop talking about me like I’m not here, you stupid extras!”

A second later, you shot a text to Izuku saying the girl was found. Midoriya instantly called you.

“She’s fine, Izuku-kun. Is her mother there with you?”

“Can you stay put there? Her mother and I are coming to you.”

You blinked, turning to Bakugou, “Uh, I can bring her to you—” Bakugou’s hand grabbed your wrist, shocking you to stillness.

“Stay here.”

Your eyes widened at his words, such a confusing change of behavior. You blinked twice before trying to figure out what to do.

“Alright, Izuku-kun. I’ll be here. We’re at the roller coaster food trailer.”

“Okay!”

Once the call was done, you turned to Bakugou with a scowl. You wanted an explanation. You pulled her hand away from his grasp before turning to Mimi, who was concentrating on her food. Plopping beside Bakugou, whose facial expression was currently null, you hit him across his arm.

“What the fuck is going on?”

You never swore, but on the rare occasions that you did, Bakugou was always amused. You heard him chuckle. You hit him across his arm again.

“You’re not acting yourself, Bakugou! What is going on?”

It wasn’t like him to beat around the bush. Bakugou’s firecracker personality didn’t make a lot of people like him, but that was the one thing you admired. Sure, the two of your relationship dwindled after school but that didn’t mean you hated him. You two drifted apart, and that was as natural as anything else.

“Why are you so fucking annoying, (y/n)?” He asked, not looking at you.

“What is that supposed to mean?”

“You...” He shook his head, trying to find the right words, “You fucked things up.”

Your heart fell at his words. Fucked things up? What did he even mean?

“What did I even do? You aren’t being clear here—”

“Why didn’t you tell me?” You barely heard him but you managed to understand what he said.

“Tell you... what?”

Bakugou turned to look at you with a ‘really?’ expression. His red eyes were literally piercing into your soul. You had to gulp before even trying to answer.

“Oh...”

He chuckled before turning away, “Yeah.”

You two sat there, not saying a word. Your heart was beating so fast, you could feel the blood rushing to your ears.

“But, why does that matter now? I mean, it’s been 8 years, Bakugou...”

“And not once in these 8 years did you think I deserved to know?” Bakugou asked, and you had no idea why his words pierced you.

You almost winced at the way his words sounded. He was stoic, but it was unusual.

“I didn’t think you’d like me back. It seemed like you hated me. It seemed like you hated everyone. I couldn’t approach you—”

“I didn’t fucking hate you, (y/n). Fuck, I...” He cursed under his breath, “I really thought you of all people knew me better.”

Your eyes widened and you turned to look at him avoiding your gaze. Your hand reached out to his, but he pulled his hand away before you could even graze your fingers against him.

“Bakugou—”

He turned to the girl, Mimi, who had finished eating by then.

“You done, kid?”

She nodded happily before Bakugou stood up.

“I’m going to the roller coaster. When you’re done handing her over, come see me,” He turned to you before deadpanning at you, “We’re not done talking.”

You nodded. It was so unlike him, but you knew you had to get things over with. It was 8 years overdue.

“Why did you take a leave today—”

Bakugou was already several feet away. You sighed before turning to the girl and smiling. A few minutes later, Midoriya and her mother came over. Mimi hugged her mother before waving goodbye at you and Izuku. You sighed for the thousandth time, before turning to Izuku.

“Say, Izuku-kun,” You struggled to find the right words, “Do you think I should have told Bakugou about liking him?”

Izuku hummed, “I think if you have a crush on someone, they deserve to know. I mean... I’d have felt bad if Uraraka-san never told me that she liked me. She did and it didn’t work out after, but I’m glad she was honest.”

You stayed quiet. “Do you think Bakugou feels bad I was never honest with him?”

“Anyone would, really. But, if you ask me,” Izuku looked at you with a calm smile, “I think Kacchan is hurt not because you weren’t honest with him. Everyone knows he struggles with expressing his own emotions. He won’t hold it against someone for struggling in the same way.”

You blinked, what Izuku said made sense. But, then why was Bakugou hurt?

Izuku chuckled, “I think you know the answer, (y/n)-chan.”

You could barely breathe. There was more than one type of guilt. You might do something horrible that you later regretted. But you could also feel guilty for something you'd not done. By not telling Bakugou you liked him, you robbed him of a chance to respond; you robbed him of a chance for a confession, you knew he could have done so himself if he wanted to, but that was something you knew now, and not before. You robbed Bakugou a chance of experiencing something for the first time, and you robbed him of a chance to grow up not wondering, ‘Am I not worth liking?’

Oh God, you thought, feeling fresh tears strike your eyes. What if he thinks...?

What if he thinks he doesn’t deserve it?

What if he spent all these years thinking he doesn’t deserve it?

You brought a shaky hand to your mouth before turning to Izuku. He merely smiled at you, patting your shoulder twice.

“Don’t overthink it,” He suggested, “Kacchan’s a lot more complex than people give him credit for.”

You knew all this. You knew how he was always misunderstood. You urged people to give him a chance, despite pretending all this while to hate him. You were aware that he had difficulty expressing his emotions, but you also knew that didn’t mean he didn’t have emotions, to begin with.

If Bakugou knew you liked him and did everything you could to get over him, if he knew just this fact and especially if it didn’t come from you, then he must believe that you hated it the whole time.

You needed to rectify this. You needed to let him know that you didn’t tell him because you were scared. You needed to tell him that he’s worthy of those feelings, that he has nothing on him that can even be considered repulsive. You knew of his internal struggles, you knew how hard he worked, even in college. You knew he was focused, driven, arrogant—only because he wanted to be a better person, a better adult, a better human being.

And you had denied him, despite knowing it all, of a chance to grow romantically.

You could still argue on why Bakugou never confessed to you if he liked you back. But, the problem was a lot bigger than just him liking you back or not. The problem was you never having told him yourself. The problem was him believing you didn’t want to.

“Izuku-kun, can you ask someone to take over for me?” You were glad you were wearing a tank top underneath the Ocean World uniform.

Midoriya’s eyes widened as you handed him your uniform.

“W-Where—”

“Just take this and put it in my locker. You know my combination, right?”

Izuku nodded, “Yeah—”

“I need to rectify something I should have done 8 years ago, Izuku-kun, so, please. Do me this favor, okay?”

Izuku nodded before smiling at you. You loved this boy, he was just so precious. You leaned forward and kissed his cheek, earning a chuckle from him.

“Are you going to tell him?”

“Oh, yeah.”

As soon as Izuku walked away, you turned to the roller coaster and rushed over there. You spotted Bakugou, using his phone, leaning against the counter. The roller coaster was apparently the scariest rollercoaster in all of Asia. While you hated rollercoasters with your life, you also knew Bakugou loved them. He loved anything that involved adrenaline, so you had something in mind.

“Baku-san!” You teased, before making Bakugou scowl at you.

“Don’t call me that, idiot.”

“Don’t call me idiot, idiot.”

You grabbed his hand before leading him to the ticket counter. Bakugou’s eyes widened before you rushed to the rollercoaster’s waiting line. You two worked there, you didn’t need tickets.

“What the fuck—Hey! I thought you hated—”

“Oh, yeah, I hate them. I might grab on to your hand and squeeze the life out of them so, just take it.”

Bakugou blinked before being violently pulled into the rollercoaster’s first car. You gulped before feeling your entire body tremble, grasping Bakugou’s hand as tightly as you could.

“(y/n), you’re literally shaking.”

“Shut up. If we’re dying, at least we’re dying together.”

You heard him chuckle once just as the rollercoaster began to move. You squeaked before tightening your grip against his hand, only to have Bakugou hold your hand in return. You wanted to appreciate this gesture, but you were scared shitless. Just as the coaster moved, you screamed—you screamed, screamed and screamed some more—before you stopped screaming.

“Oi—”

You were about to faint.

“(y/n)—”

“We are so dead—”

A minute of death later, the rollercoaster stopped. Bakugou helped you out, pulling you to a standing position. Your hands, legs and your lips were quivering, causing Bakugou to fall into a fit of laughter. You knew the adrenaline made him laugh and not to mention, your scared face.

“S-stop l-laughing, I-I was r-really—”

“Why did you do it?”

You looked him straight in the eye and frowned. Your frown deepened when you noticed his smirk increase.

“Let’s go. I want to see the dolphins,”

Bakugou looked at you from the corner of his eye.

“I really like dolphins. I especially miss Kiro and Soma, they were lovely. Not to mention, Tama the seal. She’s adorable! Did you know she loves mackerel the most? I mean—”

“(y/n), you’re nervous.”

You shook your head, “I mean, Tama’s the nicest seal too! She loves when you put her in those cute little—”

“You definitely are. You talk a lot when you’re nervous.”

You could feel your heartbeat in literally every part of your body. You didn’t know why.

“No, I don’t. I was just talking to you about—”

“Do I make you nervous?” You could practically hear the smirk from Bakugou at this point.

“No. I’m not nervous, Bakugou.”

“You’re trembling.”

You hated how perceptive this douchebag was.

“I’m cold and I almost just died.”

Bakugou laughed before noticing your hands were still connected. He didn’t say a word and walked ahead, your linked hands still linked. You tightened your grasp, looking over to him and blinking a few times, expecting some response. When you felt him tighten his grasp as well, your heart skipped a beat.

“Yeah, I noticed.”

When you reached the open auditorium where the dolphin show was happening, you noticed Tsuyu and your temporary replacement, Iida Tenya, perform a different skit. You smiled when you saw your animal friends, your hands still linked with Bakugou’s.

“Bakugou?”

When you didn’t hear him say anything, you assumed it was safe to talk.

“Can I call you Katsuki?”

He turned to look at you once, before nodding. He noticed how you weren’t meeting his gaze, and he knew he had to say something before things escalated.

“Listen, you don’t have to do this shit just because—”

“Just because of what? I see what I did wrong, and I... I regret it.”

“(y/n)...”

You turned to him now with pleading eyes, “No! I have to do this—”

“This isn’t the time or place for—”

“Then take me somewhere you want to, wherever you think is appropriate. If I don’t do this now, I... I’ll live with regret all over again, and I don’t want to do that. Katsuki,” You didn’t notice how his face reddened when you called him that, “I was so wrong in not telling you how I felt. I was so wrong, I wish I could go back in time and tell you back then how much I—”

“(y/n), I’m in love with you,” Katsuki said, with a straight face.

Your eyes widened.

“Have been. For years. It sounds like a fuck-all cliche, but it’s a fucking pain. And when I got to know you liked me back in school, I knew I should have fucking said something. But, I’m like this,” he gestured to himself, “And you’re you.”

“What is that supposed to mean?”

Bakugou groaned, “It means, we’re not compatible.”

“And who made that fucked up assertion?”

Bakugou tried to let go of your hand, but you held on tighter than ever before.

“For the last time, Katsuki, tell me what the fuck is on your mind or I swear to fucking hell I’ll never know.”

Katsuki took a moment. He was frowning at you, but you knew it wasn’t at you but at the thoughts, he was currently having. He took a deep breath before composing himself.

“I can’t give you what you want,” He brushed a hand through his hair and, “I’m not... I’m not boyfriend-material. I can’t be nice, I can’t be romantic for shit, I can’t surprise you, I can’t compliment you, I can’t—”

“And all of those things, you did today. In a single day.”

Katsuki’s eyes widened.

“What?”

You nodded, “You can’t be nice? You bought a random little girl some food and made sure she stopped crying to the best of your abilities. Boom, next. Can’t be romantic? You held my hand all through the rollercoaster ride despite finding it hilarious. Boom, next. You can’t surprise me? You gave me a hell of a shocker by even saying you’re in love with me and practically everything you did today is a goddamn surprise, so boom! Next,”

You stepped closer to Bakugou, your hands still in his. You noticed his grasp on your fingers was loose, and you used this opportunity to play with his hands.

“You can’t compliment me? You told me you love me, Katsuki. That’s the biggest compliment anyone can ever give me.”

Katsuki just stared at you, blankly.

“You’re a fucking idiot.”

You giggled before leaning down and placing your forehead on his chest. Bakugou’s hand wrapped around the nape of your neck, and he leaned against the pillar by which he was standing.

Suddenly, a thought entered your head. Leaning back, you looked at Bakugou with a confused expression.

“What?”

“Do you have anything to do with Mineta quitting?”

Katsuki scoffed. He didn’t say a word and just leaned back, eyes closed. You quietly placed your forehead back on his chest and sighed, wrapping one arm around his waist.

“I guess I have my answer.”

A few minutes later, you led Bakugou out of the open auditorium, hands still connected.

“Katsuki,” He didn’t say anything. “So, you love me? Like, love me love me?”

You could practically see how the cringe form in his face, making your smile grow in response.

“I take it back.” He snapped, grumbling.

You giggled before leaning closer to him, hands still connected, “No.”

Bakugou raised an eyebrow, “No, I can’t take it back or no, you don’t... You don’t feel...?”

He felt like an idiot even saying it. He could feel something sink inside of him. He guessed it was his dignity. He placed his hand to cover his jaw, in an attempt to cover the redness in his face.

Your fingers wrap around his fingers and you pull his hands from his jaw so he can look at you, or you guessed, so you can look at him.

“No, you can’t take it back, silly.” You said in a voice so deep and warm and full of things that Bakugou couldn’t get mad anymore.

This has to be what people mean when they say they “melted.” Bakugou would never admit he felt this way.

Bakugou gulped. He couldn’t look away from your amused expression. Your eyes were so deep and warm at the same time, just looking at him and nothing else. Right then, Katsuki wondered how could a person’s eyes be so ridiculously gorgeous and enchanting and so full of things he desperately wanted to know.

“So, what’s your answer?” He almost whispered, afraid he might screw it all up.

Those eyes of yours widen a little bit. You hold your breath. You lean forward, standing on your tip-toes, feeling the confidence come from who knows where and fan your lips over his.

“I like you, Katsuki,” you say and close the gap instantly.

@mimi-cee-hq of course you are allowed to ask for two! You can ask for more than two if you like! And to all who requested this ship, I am so sorry for the delay in responding! I went on holiday right after posting the ship ask LOL I just didn’t realise there were so many requests!

Explanation: These two were my first MHA ship! I loved them as individuals from the very beginning. But then I really started shipping them during the end of term test in season 2. When Momo felt insecure and hesitant, Shoto reassured her of her strengths and abilities, how he voted for her to be class president because he believed in her skills.

Call me a crazy feminist but when a man praises a woman and puts a lot of faith in her skills and abilities...yeah, he on point 👌🏽

I absolutely love it how Momo felt comfortable enough to confide in Shoto. She comes across as a strong character who would keep her insecurities to herself. Momo sees Shoto as a competitor and the very one person she compares herself with, so in essence there is an element of a one-sided covert rivalry with Shoto.

However, this did not stop Momo from talking about her weakness to her rival. This aspect in itself was so incredibly profound. It’s not often you see someone talking so openly about their vulnerabilities to their competitor. The two may not be explicitly close with each other, but there is this undertone of trust they have for one another that you can only see with the non-verbal and minimal words they use towards each other.

Shoto may be oblivious to Momo’s emotions, but when she disclosed her insecurities to him, Shoto eventually picked up those non-verbal indicators. He may not have done so initially but I really liked how fast he was able to discern her emotions later on. See below.

Momo didn’t have to tell Shoto her feelings. He was able to deduce it based on what she disclosed to him earlier. Shoto may be a fast learner but he paid that extra special attention to Momo. The fact that he listened to her thoughts, and then reassured her and then encouraged her. He always believed in her. Omg these two <333333

And will you just look at Momo’s face? To have her one big competitor tell her that he believed in her skills and abilities, I honestly think that was the single biggest factor that pushed her forwards. His words clearly meant the world to her.

Shoto’s belief in her and his thank you obviously meant a lot. This scene was so incredibly heartfelt.

Momo clearly admires Shoto and she trusts his words, his actions and his abilities. Likewise, Shoto thinks the same of Momo, but he does it in a very covert manner.

I really love the way Horikoshi teases their relationship. You don’t need to be an anime fan to see that there is underlying admiration going on between the two of them. Also, they sit next to each other in class...it’s like something out of a shojo manga.

Anyways, these two have incredible chemistry and compatibility. They have always been respectful towards one another, and considering Shoto’s cold, standoffish personality (most notable in the beginning), I really like it how he has always been so soft towards Momo. Awwww yeesssssss!

These two would have that power couple dynamic but they would compliment one another so well. Momo is sweet and caring, something Shoto never experienced because of his abusive upbringing. She would be able to give him that love and nurture he so needs. For Momo, she would benefit from Shoto’s assertiveness around skills and confidence. These two would definitely help each other grow personally and as pro-heroes too!

So whether you like this ship or not, judging from the way the author set these two up, if there are any couples to come out of this show, it would be these two and Izuocha.

I thought it would help if I made a post about my shipping preferences. These are all strictly for my canon muses in their respective canons. I’m totally open to crossover ships and ships with OCs! Also these will lean more toward romantic but I absolutely adore platonic relationships. Friends who view one another as family, frienemies, brotps, give them all to me! Under the cut you will find my opinion (Please keep that in mind that these are my opinion and preference so no hate) on the ships I like. If you see any that catch your eye then please feel free to reach out about possibly plotting it! I’m also not going to mention ships that I’m exclusive with people already.

Adam / the Beast: Adam x Belle - Like serious otp right there. He gave her a freaking library!

Adrien: Adrien x Marinette (also there damn love square) - These dorks are just so cute together and I just groan over it and how dumb they are for not being together, I just love them okay. Adrien x Kagami - I need to plot them as I see the potential but I’m too deep in the ship of my awkward fashion designer and nerdy model. Adrien x Cleo - brotp at best because I like the idea that they have this strange sibling relationship.

Bigby: Bigby x Snow - My otp! He’s so freaking whipped when it comes to Snow that I can’t really see him with anyone else, seriously the guy in his giant ass wolf form sulks when she scolds him, I just love it! So I’m mostly open to crossover ships with him as no one else in his canon can get his attention away from Snow.

Blue: Blue x Green - Yes please gimme these two, cause I love to think that the two of them just skate around their feelings for one another but they both secretly know their into one another. Blue x Red - I’m all for Blue having a secret crush on him but doesn’t really believe it until he’s over the fact that Red beat him, also him adoring his silent boyfriend is just adorable okay? I’m also game for basically any other Pokemon character being shipped with Blue as long as they are of an appropriate age given I play mine as a bit of a flirt.

Cullen: Cullen x Elf/Human Inquistors - (I know these are somewhat OCs but you can play them in game so I also somewhat consider them canon) Just gimme all of the feels for this romance option because I love it, especially if they’re mage because that just adds to the feels. Cullen x Dorian - Chess bros! Really I love these two getting past their differences and just being the best of friends. Cullen x Josie or Lelianna - They are like his sisters away from home and no one can tell me otherwise. Everything else either falls into a brotp or just needs to be plotted.

Cynthia: As long as they are of an appropriate age then I’m plotting to plotting any sort of relationship with Cynthia. Meaning- I really haven’t thought of it but I’m open to ideas.

Diluc: Honestly, I’m open to any sort of ship with him. Dliuc x Jean is a ship I’m really into but I’m also into Diluc x Kaeya as well. Diluc x Klee for parental ship is something I’m into as well (someone else needs to keep an on her other than Jean). But yes, so long as there is chemistry I’m down for shipping with anyone from the game.

Dimitri: Byleth (either gender) x Dimitri- Y E S GIMME THIS SHIP! This ship is just so pure and good! As for anyone else, I’m totally open to testing them out (and I literally mean any ship as my Dimitri is bisexual). My Notps are Eledgard x Dimitri (for reasons that I won’t mention due to possible spoilers) and any of the teachers besides Byleth (due to the obvious age gap).

Elesa: Like Cynthia, I haven’t really thought of this. I think Volknor x Elesa would be cute. But I’m also open to plotting and testing any sort of ship as long as it’s age appropriate.

Geralt: Triss x Geralt- Literal otp material right there and I’m not sorry. I’ve loved Triss since I played Witcher 2 and I just love their relationship. Yen x Geralt- I’m still down for doing this ship. I do have my issues with Yen but then I also acknowledge that Triss isn’t without her flaws either. So I’m down to try it out and seeing how it goes.

Gwen: Miles x Gwen- No one can tell me that these two cuties aren’t made for one another. Peter x Spider!Gwen- I’m also open to this one for the angst and the like it would cause.

Hapi: Hapi x Byleth- With how much support she gets from the Professor, I’m so down for this ship. Whether it’s with female or male Byleth, I’d love to develop this ship! Hapi x Dimitri- Yes please gimme this! I know there isn’t much in terms of romance with these two but I can also see it happening. I also just love the idea of Hapi being a close advisor to him after everything that happens and I can also seeing feeling indebted to him as he did the one thing she had longed for- having her curse broken. Hapi x Yuri- Love these two together. Their support is so wonderful! I’m totally up for doing other relationships with other Three Houses characters too!

Jean: Yet again, I’m totally open to any ship that can possibly come from pairing Jean up with other characters from the game. I’ve already stated how I’m fond of Diluc x Jean but I’m also into Jean x Lisa. Jean x Klee is already established in canon but I’d love to have threads involving it.

Momo: Shoto x Momo- I just love how supportive they are with one another and they’re so cute, so definite otp. I am open to shipping with other UA classmates though.

Mulan: Shang x Mulan- This one would need some development because I just see her getting a crush during the movie. But I still like them together. I’m also open to so many crossovers with other Disney movies.

Puck: Meghan x Puck- This honestly my otp (and should have happened in the books) for Puck. But really I’m more of Happiness x Puck, so I’m open to anything. Like Ariella x Puck may happen (if Dee indulges me again) and Ash x Puck will definitely happen within threads (with myself).

Red: Red x Blue/Boxer/Bodyguard dude- Otp for Red and I’m not going into reasons because spoilers. But with this fandom being so small I honestly more interested in crossover ships.

Sylvain: Sylvain x Ingrid- I love the whole friends to romance thing. And the support between these two were just adorable, okay? Sylvain x Felix- I’m also down for grumpy boy gets with flirty boy. Their whole dynamic is great! Besides those two, I’m down for anything. But just be aware that if this does take place in his main verse, then it may take some work. It’s not you or your muse, it’s just how I see Sylvain given his own feelings about crests and his own past experience.

Trunks: Mai x Trunks- Eh, this would need to be plotted really since I have slight issues with the ship (like the age difference they sort of gloss over). Marron x Trunks- Another one that would need to be plotted but I’m totally okay with doing.

Yamato: Okay there are far too many ships with Yami. But so long as it isn’t a T.K. or Hikari then I’m on board. These kids are so freaking shippable with themselves that I’m down for anything (especially Taichi x Yamato, Mimi x Yamato, and Sora x Yamato).

Zagreus: Thantos x Zag- My OTP! They are too adorable in the game together that I just love them! Like the fact that Than basically mopes because Zagreus is trying to leave just makes me love them more. Other than them, I’m really open to anything. With other Greek Gods and Goddess, it will need to be plotted especially those who are related to him in some way.

Zhongli: Zhongli x Childe- Definitely a ship idea I love and totally want it. Otherwise, like my other Gen.shin muses, just throw ships with chemistry at me and I’m down. I can’t think of a single character that is in the game that I wouldn’t be turned off shipping Zhongli with.
