Eden (Chapter 7) - An Assasins Creed Syndicate Story

I smiled, reading the letter a few times before looking at the bed. Eden lay there, her face contorted in pain. “So your name is Eden?” I chuckled, brushing the hair out of her face. “Well, Eden, it is nice to meet you,” I whispered. She moaned in her sleep, still in agony. Eden Auditore. Why did that last name sound familiar? I returned to the living room, where Henry and Evie were busy discussing the recent events.

“Evie, do you know the name Auditore?” I asked, and she rolled her eyes while putting her cup of tea down. 

“Honestly Jacob. Don’t you recall any of the Father’s teachings?”

I leaned on the door frame. “Are you going to belittle me or answer my question?”

“That is the family name of a famous assassin from Renaissance Italy. Ezio Auditore. He saved the Italian brotherhood. Why do you ask?”

I walked towards Evie and Henry and handed them the letter. “Because this letter has her name, her real name.” Evie snatched the letter from my hand, and her eyes widened as she read it. “What is it? What’s wrong?” “This name, this person should be dead.”

“Dead. When?”

Evie put the letter down. “I can’t remember right now. The book I need is back at Father’s Library in Crawley. Henry and I will leave right now and should be back within a day.”

“Okay. I’ll keep an eye on her.”

Evie and Henry took off, leaving me alone with Eden asleep in the other room. I returned to the bedroom and sat down beside the bed. Dead, this girl should be dead, and by the sound of Evie, dead a very long time ago. Who was she, and why had she come and thrown my life into turmoil? 

Eden stayed asleep most of the day, so I kept myself busy by cleaning up the flat and locating some Rook to bring us some food since Eden left nothing when she tried to flee. After some food, exhaustion took hold, and I fell asleep in the chair next to Eden.

I woke up a bit later to Eden’s screaming. I jolted awake, ready to attack, thinking that someone had broken in, but no, it was Eden, still fast asleep but, by the look of it, having a nightmare. I walked over and tried to shake her out of it with no luck. She just kept yelling.

“Father, please help me please. Stop the pain. I beg of you. Please help me.” I kept shaking her, and finally, her eyes snapped open, and the screaming stopped. Eden looked at me standing and then at my legs. Her eyes glowed a brilliant gold before she wiggled her toes and moved her legs. She took a deep breath, removed the blanket and stepped out of bed with no signs of pain.

“Eden, are you alright?”

She looked up at me and smiled. “You read my letter.” 

“I did.” Eden looked at me, unsure of what I might do next. “You never did answer my question. Are you alright?”

HIS TEST - Mark Hoffman x F!Reader

Everyone has been tested. Except him. Everyone have gone through their personal hell. But he? He remained untested….or that’s what he thought.

“I do appreciate my life…” Hoffman says, an almost undetectable string of what you could conclude as arrogance tint his voice. He doesn’t know John it’s going to test him very soon….

Your existence was unknown to the other apprentices. The fact that you met every single one of them, under “casual” circumstances, causal enough for John to elaborate, were never enough for the rest of them to even suspect you could be an apprentice too. John’s gift to you was none other than the perfect veil of uncertainty.

You knew everyone else’s life and how they were doing along side John. But he got plans for you…you’re supposed to keep a close eye to one particular apprentice. Mark Hoffman. He was…something else, you could tell. As said before, you knew every single one of them, but you found Mark rather interesting. His main motivation to help John caught your eye since day one. You came along after Logan, but before Mark, so when John first talked about him with you, the ceed of curiosity was planted. You still wanted to remain anonnymus to every single apprentice John had, so you would keep an eye on them with discretion, maybe even look out for them when John didn't even asked you to. The first time you saw him, he was patrolling thye streets and you stand by his police car and asked for a smoke. More precisely, asked for fire to start a smoke. His blue deep ocean eyes were unmistakable.

"Excuse me Officer, but by any chance do you happen to have fire? I would like to light up a smoke." You asked. Your voice soft like the wind blowing that night. You look at him holding a smoke between you lips.

He looks back at you for a moment, his eye lingered on your figure for a second, then nod yes nonchallantly.

"What's a girl your age doing outside so late at night?..."

"Couldn't sleep, Officer." He then approaches the lighter near your cigarette and lights it.

"You're so young to have habits like this one..." He speaks gesturing with his head at your cigarette.

That's ironic.

For someone who's helping a killer accomplish their desires. You didn't pay much attention to his comment.

"Oh, but bad habits don't die, specially if they’re old ones, right Officer?" He didn't notice, but there also was irony in your question, cause him from all people shouldn't be having this doble moral.

"Guess you're right." He forced a smile.

You don't remember too much from that night, but he apologize, told you he was still on duty and took off.

The sound of voices echoing from afar brought you back to reality. You were standing on the shadow of a corner inside the meat plant. John had asked you to come over, cause he needed your help. But he never told you the others would be here too. You recognize one voice at least. Feminine, but not fragile, that’s how one of the voices sounded like. How could you not recognize it? It was Amanda Young. She came after Mark, her test was crude but necessary. The other voice was a male voice, which soon after you’d recognize as Dr.Gordon’s voice.

Now, he was the latest apprentice, he was part of a game that took place in that mundane industrial bathroom. You helped John to physically prepare the space, and you hated every single second of it. This two were talking among themselves, unaware you were around, but apparently Mark wasn’t here today, although something told you he was in fact present, somewhere. A thin tall figure approached you. John. You crossed your arm and gave him a glare.

“You didn’t mention the others were here too.” You tilted your head.

“Would you have drive all the way here if I’d told you the rest were inside?” He smiled slightly.

“No…I wouldn’t…” You rolled your eyes as you return the smile back. You stepped closer to him, reaching out for his shoulders. “How you’ve been lately?”

”Surviving, as always…I don’t have news unfortunately….” He said. You had your doubt about his word. Cause you knew he went to Mexico for a couple of days, not so long ago, and he hasn’t spoke a word about it. So you looked at him and asked.

“Did something happened in Mexico?” I tilted my head, and he sigh.

”Just…minor inconveniences. Detective Hoffman and Amanda took care of the situation. You have nothing to worry about.” He affirmed, sounding convincing. You decided to not keep questioning him about it. Instead you just nod. He gestured for you to fallow him.

”walk with me.” He said.

“sure…” You fallow him around. Until he stopped on a place far from the others.

“I think you know why I asked you to come….” He continued.

“I pretty much have an idea, yes.” You answered.

“I need you to do something for me.” He asked.

”Anything.” You didn’t even thought twice before answering. Cause the truth was, you would do anything for him, cause you couldn’t shake the feeling that you owned him so much. He looked at you tilting his head before speaking.

“I need you to keep an eye on Mark, please.” He spoke again, and you rose an eyebrow.

Mark?…that’s interesting.

”Sure…sure, I’ll do it. But-may I know…why?” You stated. Crossing your arms in front of you, hugging yourself. He looked at you for a second then nodded.

“Of course. I have reasons to believe he might still get emotionally involved with our games.” John explained, with his usual tone of voice and gestures, telling you how you should proceed. You nodded in agreement, there was nothing left to say.

John apparently noticed and let you go freely, kissing you goodbye in the cheek. You returned the gesture and smiled. Though you didn’t left the plant yet, cause when you were about to, you heard John speaking with someone else. This times you were sure. It was Mark Hoffman. You fallowed them from the shadows of the corners, they were going to the industrial bathroom again. Much to your surprise, someone was there. A middle age man, bound to the ceiling from the wrists. From the comfort on a corner you watched Mark going in with John. He talks to the guy in there, though you couldn’t really hear the whole conversation, you could catch only one phrase.

“That’s what I call…epic bad luck…”

Mark said, smirking and sounding as smug as always. You eyes lingered at his lips a little bit as he talked. His hair tucked backwards. You found yourself smiling slightly at his comment. You thought it would be fun to keep an eye on such a guy.

"anti-gay person is secretly gay" and "anti-trans person is secretly trans" is a tragedy of self loathing, not an insult. It doesn't excuse their actions, of course, but by making that the focal point of your joke you're just ceeding ground to their position

Hypocrisy is a thing that's always fun to point out, sure, but this is not an effective way to change their minds, and it's insulting to everyone on your side as well.

It's just far too often that you see some right-wing person go "WE SHOULD GET RID OF ALL X" and then supposedly left-leaning people go "well I did some research or just assumed, and it turns out that they're secretly X!", where X is some completely neutral thing, like "gay" or "trans" or "immigrant" or "jewish".

like ok logan's pov on this is basically, he is definitely aware that deadpool is a very infuriating person, and he also knows wade does that On Purpose, but he also was able to see past wade's general bullshittety to his soft gooey center in the span of about two days of knowing him. and these people have had YEARS upon YEARS of knowing wade, and somehow they have failed to see past his bluster to the good man underneath? that's already a strike against them, and he doesnt understand how they cant see it.

and then on top of that, a real asshole would be bragging endlessly about what happened, and yeah wade doesnt just let it slide without mentioning it at ALL, he definitely brings it up, but almost more like a fun weekend/cool adventure than something heroic he's done. he's so desperate to be seen as someone who can do something right, but at the same time he's done something incredible and here he is downplaying it and allowing others to do the same. which they do. they dont appreciate the extent of what he did, how hard he fought, how dangerous it was, how many lives he saved, they brush it aside like it never mattered. strike two.

and then ultimately, they just... dont care. like they know he was involved with something called a "time ripper" but they kind of downplay it, or act like its the least he couldve done, or like his motivation being his friends and not the whole world somehow undermines the goodness of his actions, or they just dont even try to get the full story. he brings it up and they brush it aside, even colossus who is perhaps the closest to him and most understanding about it merely nods and says that "finally, wade is beginning to make right choice", which. wade saved everyone. wade sacrificed himself and saved EVERYONE. /beginning/?

that's not what happened. no one understands. no one WANTS to understand. and it drives him up a goddamn wall every time he hears another little slight about it. strike three

Eden (Chapter 2) A Assassin Creed Syndicate story

Jacob Frye x Original Female Character

What happens when you fall in love with the man you were only supposed to be stringing along? That's what happened to Eden. She was only supposed to toy around with Jacob Frye, Master Assassin and leader of the Rooks. She only needed the Shroud of Eden, and then she would never see Jacob or the city of London ever again. But she forgot one key thing she couldn't control—her heart. Now Eden must fight against what her heart is telling her and her task since her accident. To love or to live. That was what was at stake.

My stomach was in knots as I stopped with my hand on the doorknob. I didn’t know why my body was reacting like this. Stringing Jacob around was a means to an end. He had the information I needed, and flirting with him was the best way. I took a deep breath, steadied my racing heart, and opened the door. Jacob stood there with a few of his gang members I’d heard about. The one woman was wearing grey slacks with a yellow sash, a white shirt with a green vest and her blonde hair was cut short and was covered by a black hat with a yellow ribbon. There was also a man with him. He was also wearing grey slacks with a white shirt and a yellow sash but not a vest or hat to cover his red hair. 

“Just keep an eye out for anything odd,” Jacob said to his men. They both shook their heads in agreement before taking off. His shoulders sagged now that his gang members were gone. He looked tired, and I wondered why. Turning around, his smile returned to his face once he saw me. 

“Oh, Good morning, Claudia.” 

“Good morning Mr. Frye. To what do I owe the pleasure.”

Jacob chuckled, rubbing the back of his head. “Please call me Jacob. Mr. Frye was my father, and when I hear that name, I expect to find him standing behind me.” 

I smiled. “Alright then, Jacob, to what do I owe the pleasure?” “Well, I was in this part of town and wanted to know if you would like to spend time with me today?” 

“Spend some time with you? Why?”

“I had some free time today, and I figured I could show you around since you haven’t been to London before.”

“That’s very kind, but...” I hesitated to tell him what I had planned today. “I need to do some shopping today if you do not mind joining me.”

Jacob’s smile grew larger. “That’s perfect. I can join you and make sure no more thieves try to steal from you.”

“You think someone would try again?”

“It is London, after all.” 

“Alright. I would love your company as I run my errands today.”

Jacob stepped to the side, allowing me to start walking. “Lead the way.” 

I forced a smile on my face as we started our walk. I knew I needed to earn Jacob’s trust, but today couldn’t have been a worse day. I needed to grab some items to upgrade my gauntlet, and I didn’t want Jacob to see and give away who I truly was. We walked silently for a bit as I tried to think of a way to get my items without arousing suspicion. 

“Penny for your thoughts?” 

I jumped a bit, caught off guard. “Just wondering what you were talking about to the other two people you were with this morning.” 

He shook his head. “It was nothing. Just my gang making sure they are looking out for anything odd.” 

“You have a gang?” I acted surprised.

“I do. Does that surprise you?”

“A bit. Then again, our first meeting started after you jumped from a rooftop.” Jacob chuckled sheepishly. “Another question that goes with the first. What could be odd in London?” 

“You would be surprised. But that is a story for another day.” Damn. He didn’t have enough trust in me yet. We continued walking, and the market came into view, but I didn’t have a solid plan yet. Seemed that luck was on my side, at least. A voice yelled from behind as we entered the shopping district. 

“JACOB!” Jacob and I stopped, and he turned to see who was calling him. It turned out to be a woman. She was equal in height to Jacob, and they even shared the same colour hair and eyes. I eyed an assassin gauntlet on her arm and guessed she was Evie Frye—Jacob’s twin sister.

“Hello, Dear sister.” He grumbled and turned back to me. “Claudia, this is my sister Evie Frye. Evie, this is Claudia?” Jacob said, pausing since he didn’t know my last name. 

“Hello Evie, my name is Claudia Fiore,” I said, holding my hand to shake. Evie looked at my hand, then back at me and ignored it. 

“Hello.” She said before turning her attention to her brother. “Jacob, can I speak to you for a moment?” Evie paused and looked back at me. “Alone.” 

I smiled at Jacob, quickly taking this as my opportunity to upgrade my gear. “Go with your sister Jacob. I will meet you back here in a bit.” He looked a bit unsure, and I gave him a reassuring smile.
