In case anyone doesn’t know why Channing Tatum randomly showed up in “Deadpool & Wolverine” as Gambit:
Way back when the Fox X-Men universe was still in full swing, Tatum signed on to play Gambit in a movie. I believe he signed on after Gambit appeared in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”. The project was stuck in development hell, then cancelled. So this was Ryan Reynolds’ tribute to the cancelled project and why Gambit believed he was born in the Void.

I'd say I'm normal about these two, but that would be a lie.

You've seen the original, you've seen the meme, you've seen the recreation of the meme, now here's an attempt at recreating the original from the recreation of the meme.

imagining a fem!reader who had met Erik at some point of her life, maybe during the holocoust and she was someone that scientists experiemented on, she was one of shaw's pupils. though most experiements failed, leaving herself damaged than ever on top of being looked down on as a "malfunction"
after the world war II, your path crossed with Erik and from that on your paths kept crossing with one another.
him leaving for the united states was you didn't know, you weren't informed. he didn't see you fit to let you know.
but somehow charles had pegged you for someone who was a mutant. you asked yourself if it could be.
your relationship would start off quickly. there wouldn't be any "what are we?"s or "are we dating?"s. you just happened to find yourself straddled on his laps, his eyes roaming and savoring every inch of you.
that was his thing: worshipping your body. you could never get the words out of his mouth but his eyes would take care of that.
you'd find yourself on his lap quite frequently. it was the early days of division x, while everybody was still figuring things out, everyone was still distressed.
you knew the moments his mind calmed was when he played chess and when he'd have you sit on his lap, on his bed on late nights.
you'd play with his hair with your fingertips, trace his face. his eyes would be locked on your face, being at awe. you could feel his tenses loosing up during these times, his jaw becoming more and more slacked, his eyes becoming more and more droppy. his grip on your waist loosening and tighening now and then.
god did he love your waist. he was a bigger person than you, his hand was bigger than your waist. he loved to lift you up like a kid, he'd lift you up and sit you down on the countertop, he'd carry you to his bed.
whenever you'd be out with the others to have dinner, he'd make sure you were always besides him, his hand resting on your hips the entire night. his fixed gazes to the staff in division x were spine-chilling. yet that didn't take away them shamelessly flirting with you.
a part of you knew the reason why he got this intimate with you was because you were a part of his life before all this. a casuality, something that comes normal and natural to him.
your immune system was the worst. after being experiemented on for years for no good, your body had given up to make you feel better, even the faintest. he could never bring himself to talk about it directly, you couldn't blame him, he had wounds that were yet to heal but he'd make sure to make you feel good about yourself by saying vague things, reading what could be considered "inspirational" quotes from his favorite books to convey a message to you in an undertone.

You know what? The xmen film franchise isn’t perfect. Xmen will never be perfect. But I’m glad that it exists.
There’s something so specifically heartwarming/gut wrenching about watching the new Deadpool and Wolverine film, and seeing all of these discarded characters given another chance. We never would have gotten any of that without the shit show that was Fox’s Xmen films, and I’m happy that I got to sit through shit films like Apocalypse and Origins: Wolverine just to have glowing moments like the og sabertooth actor taking action one more time. The scrapped Gambit film became a beautiful cameo for Channing Tatum and it couldn’t have been better
I’m glad that every deadpool film lead to this, because no other character could have bridged this into the MCU in this way. I’m happy that the MCU exists, even if I don’t follow it much nowadays, because without it I would not have gotten to see yellow suit wolverine on the big screen. Thank you Hugh Jackman for coming back (even if Disney‘s gonna make you do it until you’re 90) thank you Ryan Reynolds, Channing Tatum, Jennifer Garner, Wesley Snipes, Dafne Keen, thank you to everyone involved in the making of a film which was more of a celebration of the X-Men and the insane, broken, but beautiful history they have. Thank you to every actor who ever played an X-Men character ever. Thank you to both Jubilees from different timelines even though it made absolutely no sense
Thank you for existing, X-Men franchise

Notice in the MCU:
Wanda falls in love with someone who helps her contextualize her grief and pain and view it in a more peaceful and positive light - which is exactly how her mutant father fell in love with her stepfather.
Vision at one point sits contemplatively in front of a chess set - the very game that his father-in-law and stepfather-in-law love to play.
Billy and Tommy escape death-by-disintegration when Billy transfers their consciousnesses into empty bodies - just as their step-grandpa once did.
Even across universes, the parallels manifest.

One of the funniest things to me in X-Men: First Class is when we see Erik and he calls himself Frankenstein's monster and he says he's looking for his creator then we cut to Charles in a bar.
Im an English major and the reason I find this so funny is usually when that happens it means a) the person we cut to is the creator or will be a creator in some sense or b) this is someone the monster will turn into a monster themselves and/or will destroy them
Which isn't the case with them at all.
Yes, Charles sees more in Erik than Erik sees in himself and even shows Erik a memory he has long forgotten that wasn't pain and anguish.
One can even argue that Erik did destroy Charles in Days of Future Past, the thing is: despite the changes they both bring out the best in each other. Erik wants to complete his mission and in doing so he has to leave behind the man that he became even if he was created a new because of Charles's love and devotion and adoration. When Erik paralyzed Charles from the bullet Charles did not blame him. Charles did not get "destroyed" until thirteen months later when Erik was falsely arrested for the murder of JFK. Even after being reunited a decade later, Charles can never bring himself to actually hate or dislike Erik. Charles and Erik both heal in a sense when they are reunited in Days of Future Past. In Apocalypse it's Charles and his love that basically saves Erik (though I want to tear apart and add in flashbacks of Magda and Nina too bc why just Charles?) and it's Erik's megnokenisis (did I spell that write? idk part of being an English major is not being able to spell lol) that gives Charles and the other X-Men time to defeat Apocalypse.
Yet, Shaw got it so embedded into Erik's head that he is a monster and after witnessing the deaths of of his mother, his people, wife, daughter, and paralyzing Charles Erik leaned into the being a monster because he believes everything he touches he destroys.
With Charles, he never had anything stable. The most stable he got was when he was with the X-Men. When he got to teach and train fellow mutants how to use their abilities and how to help people.

The results will have no impact on the Summer Superheroes bracket. Both X-Men Evolution and X-Men the Animated Series had the chance to make the bracket, Evolution won. The other two did not qualify as "disney" for the purposes of this tournament.
P.S. come back in a few days for our full length Round 3 polls!

I still hope we do get Wolverine and Storm as a couple in future Marvel projects. There's so much you can do with them!
