Brainchild By RelaxMammal

Brainchild is a story about paranormal phenomena, bad first impressions, wide-scale conspiracies, a whole bunch of mutants, and everything else your senior year of college can possibly throw at you.  It is written and drawn by Suzanne Geary and updates on Sundays.

Brainchild’s equivalent rating is “TV-14” to “TV-MA” for profanity, drug and paraphernalia references, potentially violent/frightening imagery, and sexually suggestive scenarios. (Think “Adult Swim.”) Now imagine a scary voice telling you “VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED.”

Real nice dialogue, the art style and monster designs are super fun, and the plot is just starting to get rolling where the archive stops so now’s a great time to hop on I think!

Wyatt Finch has been a vampire for three months, and he’s just moved to The Midnight City - a town of ghosts and ghouls and magicians of all sorts! Together with Archibald Hawthorne (a soft-spoken gentleman detective) and Circe (an eccentric scientist witch), they solve magical misdeeds of all kinds, in a story about friendship, finding your destiny, and occasionally stopping for tea!

This one’s SO cute lmao. If you’re into Job Satisfaction you’ll probably like this one too, it’s more Pastel Victorian rather than Elegant Goth and significantly more saturday morning cartoon flavored.

Ask the Ether By Mechandra

Ask the Ether  is a slice-of-life comic primarily focused on three witches: Sable,  Dax, and Meisha. Their stories center around their individual journeys  to hone their magic, as well as balancing the struggles of being a young  adult in a major metropolitan area. They all share common threads of  having a difficult family background, being people of color deprived of  their culture, and struggling to find an individual voice with their own witchcraft. All of the characters are LGBTQIA+.

This one’s a bit experimental compared to the others but honestly I loved it because I feel like it’s a good example of what a webcomic ought to be? One Weird Artist making things on their own terms, you can really feel the fingerprints on it. Starts out as more of a strip, keep reading for bigger stories! Stellar dialogue, really fun and dynamic art, also funny in a genuine sort of way that’s kind of rare in comics.

Can’t talk about the comic rn obviously BUT I will say I followed this artist instantly after I saw this unrelated short comic they made, for reasons that are probably obvious if you’ve been here for more than five minutes lmao. Really looking forward to getting my teeth in this one!

There You Ain’t! By Garagoose

When a powerful relic goes missing in the wild west of Bouquet, bounty hunters Grey and Blajo, along with saloon owner Posie and wanted outlaw Eustace, find themselves swept into a struggle to keep it from falling into the wrong hands.

Using movie ratings as a reference, I’d rate this comic somewhere around the PG end of a PG-13 rating, for various events of gun and magic-related violence, a bit of foul language, and mild body horror later on.

Kidd Commander

It’s a world at the mercy of uncaring gods, and Phineas Kidd is a heretic with a chip on her shoulder and enough fury to outshine a supernova. Armed only with aggressive enthusiasm (and an explosive left hook), Phineas sets out to gather up a merry crew and travel to Kairos Crossing to catch the sun, an urban legend that has tempted countless dreamers to a bloody end.

Kidd Commander is a romantic comic that’s mostly concerned with ambitious characters doing cool anime stuff while being subjected to trauma and dealing with said trauma! Rated T for lots of (cartoon) violence and swearing, and a good deal of irreverence for topics some folks might prefer to leave revered. If any of that sounds like it might make you uncomfortable this comic may not be suitable for you!

Okay...so we know that there’s a special guest that’s going to be making an appearance on Sean’s tribute episode, that’s yet to be revealed. We already know Kristina Wagner and Kimberly McCullough are returning for it as Felicia and Robin, and that John Reilly’s real life daughter will be playing his characters daughter. Story wise and reality wise, Emma Samms can’t return as Holly right now due to Holly being held prisoner and Emma still not doing well with her long term covid effects.

Logically speaking, who else but Tiffany could be returning that would have the show runners being THIS secretive that has a connection to Sean?

I know Sharon Wyatt’s health hasn’t been great in a number of years but i feel like she’s been staying off screen due to the physical appearance that whatever health issue she had caused to her face (I think something to do with her jaw). And I would imagine Sharon really would want to be apart of this tribute for John no matter what. Like I don’t want to get my hopes up or anyone else’s obviously but who else could it possibly be?

Perhaps Tony Geary I guess? They did work together a lot in the 90’s but even when Jane Elliot retired he only made a 5 second, no line appearance and he held her in the highest regard.

With SoWood weighing on so many in town, there comes no better time to spread some love than Valentine’s Day. Or, to very conveniently combine that need with an overdue house party. Practicing self love, someone can be overheard saying, raising a red solo cup as they wade through all the pink and red and white. Heart shaped balloons, streamers, confetti, roses upon roses upon roses, even a kiss cam set up by Cupid himself to capture the blossoming of young love... or drunk love. Either way, this is a lovers only event. Anyone caught souring the mood will be required to hand over a donation to the South Rosewood Relief Fund; if opening your heart isn’t an option then you best be prepared to open your wallet instead.

Older members will recall how events of CHW past came with side plots to drop a handful of characters into surprise situations. This is something we are considering bringing back to events on a full time basis if the response is positive enough. These are entirely optional in the event that you absolutely cannot see your character in that position-- we are just providing ideas for plots outside of the standard party interactions. Feedback is always welcome, both on the main and through discord.

Adeline Chadwell found herself in the dance floor, moving without a care in the world. Unfortunately, she found herself brought back when a drink found itself spilled on her Schiaparelli dress. To her rescue, her twin brother Keaton Chadwell. As any great brother would do, he offered to help her find the laundry so they can use the dryer.  They eventually found it. They also found themselves locked in said laundry room.

Tonight was about letting loose, something she’d more than earned. But she’d soon find that her new position as one of the heads of Rosewood’s underground will seep into her closely guarded personal life when a pair of guys assume her best friend, Axel Baldwin is one of her escorts.

If anyone was on a rampage against the holiday of Valentine’s Day this year, it was the one and only, Kennedy McPherson. She couldn’t get what she wanted so in her anger, she found herself reaching out to someone who thrived with anger. Polo Moretti. She wanted to watch Rosewood burn and he was more than happy to oblige. 

In an attempt to feel like her old self— if only just for a night, Teagan Parkinson found herself buying a little pick me up from some South Side dealers— friends of both Kit Cruz and Nixon Peters. What? It was a party, everyone was doing it after all. And whilst that might have been true, not everyone found themselves buying drugs just as the Rosewood PD found themselves a knockin’ on the front door.

As I skimmed through scenes from the episode. I was reminded about a realisation that Jim and Maggie needed to be apart in order to work well as a couple.

Hallie asking Jim about how he views her seems to be something that could have come up between Jim and Maggie if they ended up together after that Season 1 street chase. Then there’s Maggie who learned to ease up on her stubbornness after Jack helped her realise the hidden reason she sided with Hallie.

I’m looking at the IMDB page of the episode...and initially thought there was no credit for the HR guy...then at 38:07 I found out that his name is Wyatt Geary

PS: I also noticed that quick zooms are used whenever there is a gag or a punchline. Somehow it doesn’t ruin the parts of the episode that is serious. Now that’s walking the line!

INT. ACN OFFICES (BULLPEN) - DAY

SLOAN's POV: GARY in the conference room pounding files on the desk angrily.

DON emerges from MAC's office, like he's never going to smile again.

SLOAN I just heard. Sorry, Bubba.

She gives him a peck on the cheek and envelopes him in a hug. DON accepts and as they lean into the embrace more---

WYATT Good afternoon!

He is sitting on one of the desks at one end of the BULLPEN. Smiling smugly.

They pull apart. DON makes his way to him while giving him the death stare. SLOAN follows close by.

DON I'll tell you, Mr. Geary, this isn't the best time.

WYATT stands up, walks over to them, and consults his folio.

WYATT You two are a couple.

DON We're not, but maybe we can do this later.

WYATT No you are. I have a signed letter declaring that you are.

He waves a piece of paper and studies it.

WYATT It was sitting in my office in a pile of things I hadn't gotten to yet.

They meet WYATT and stand shoulder to shoulder.

SLOAN Somebody ratted us out?

WYATT Yes.

SLOAN Nobody around here would drop a dime. You're blowing smoke. Who cheesed?

DON Okay, Mugsy.

WYATT You did.

SLOAN Huh?

WYATT is still buried in the evidence.

WYATT. You did.

SLOAN Which one of us are you talking to?

WYATT I think you know

DON (to Sloan) What's he talking about?

WYATT Sloan wrote a letter to HR declaring the two of you a couple.

SLOAN Yeah, it was after you made $125 on the Chipotle trade I tipped you off to.

DON (to Sloan) We spent the last two weeks trying to conceal from this man that we're dating...

WYATT just sits there calmly and expectantly. Your serve 'couple'.

DON ...and the whole time you knew you'd sent him a letter saying we were dating?

SLOAN Mmmhmmm.

DON Why?

SLOAN Well, obviously I was hoping he'd never find out.

He faces SLOAN.

DON But you knew he was gonna read the letter eventually!

She faces DON.

SLOAN Eventually is a wonderful time of day. This was a cross-that-bridge-when-we-get-to-it situation for me.

DON whips over to WYATT.

SLOAN And here we are. We're at the bridge.

DON Wyatt---

WYATT Is lying to corporate something you do habitually?

He's fighting to stay unreadable...but a smirk leaks out for a microsecond.

SLOAN Don and I like to make decisions...

DON nods as she is saying this.

SLOAN ...about lying on a case-by-case basis.

But then realises that she's continuing to dig them deeper.

DON Maybe you've helped enough.

He takes two steps towards WYATT.

DON Please, do not transfer one of us.

WYATT's has a smile forming.

DON We don't work together enough, but the little we do works. And if you ask Sloan to choose between me and her job, you wouldn't be able to get that sentence out before she said 'her job', and I really like her and I'm trying to be good enough. And this here is the best thing that I do. And can I say one more thing? Its just occurred to me that your company is only going to own my network until the end of the day...

His voice gets louder as the epiphany arrives...he glances at SLOAN.

DON ...so what the hell has this all been about!?

WYATT is smiling now. The eyebrow shrug giving him away.

SLOAN gets there too.

SLOAN Come to think of it...

WYATT I'm blown away you let me do it this long.

DON's eyes scream bloody murder.

DON Why did you do it this long?

WYATT shakes his head.

WYATT Fun.

SLOAN's eyes narrows.

WYATT I work in HR. Our days aren't scored by the Hallelujah Chorus.

He looks from DON to SLOAN. She has a small smile now too.

WYATT I don't know anything about the story you were all working on, but I know enough to say sorry.

He gives each of them a long look.

WYATT Good luck to the two of you. I'm a big fan.

He taps his folio on DON's shoulder as he walks away. Thanks for playing.

What’s summer without a trip to the amusement park? And this weekend, the characters of CHW will get to enjoy everything all that comes with a trip to the amusement park. 

The excitement of getting on those all too terrifying rides, those ridiculously great fried foods you can only find at amusement parks and the excitement of beating out strangers at those carnival games. 

All things these characters deserve after everything they’ve gone through, but of course, not everyone will get to go through this event without some happenings.... happening. And for what that means?
