My First Time at Chefs de France Wasn't a Scary French Cuisine Nightmare Thanks to This!
Bonjour! Have you dined at Le Chefs de France in Epcot? I haven't until recently because I was scared of the menu!
Iâve never been to Le Chefs de France before. One look at the menu and Iâm sure youâll understand why: the food sounds confusing and itâs in French! I donât know about you, but I tend to shy away from foods I canât pronounce. Iâm familiar with French cuisine, or at least Iâd like to think so: French toast, French Fries. I watched Ratatouille. Iâve been to New Orleans, so I know at least oneâŠ

Do yâall know about FrĂ©dĂ©ric Thomas? He is a French parasitologist who heard a story about crickets in New Zealand leaping into the water even though they canât swim, and immediately speculated this suicidal behavior was related to behavior manipulation from an internal parasite. This is before neuro-parasitology was a field at all, and before people really put much stock into parasiteâs ability to control animal behavior.
Thomas was certain that studying these crickets would be a huge priority for the scientific world given the implications of a parasite controlling an animalâs actions in such an insidious way. Unfortunately, absolutely nobody would fund Thomasâ expedition to study the crickets, and his grants were all declined. In a wild move that showcases the balls to the wall, near- insanity level passion of a biologist, Thomas declared a hunger strike and wrote a letter to the president of France saying he would not eat until someone took the matter seriously and funded his study on the suicidal crickets. I feel like those of us in research can at least a little bit understand this impulse.
Well the French government actually got Thomasâ message and freaked out a bit at the negative publicity that could arise from a crazy worm scientist starving to death. So they send some government bigwigs to the university to pressure Thomas and his department heads into calling an end to the hunger strike. In the flurry of attention that resulted from this, a Swiss billionaire heard about Thomasâ plight and offered to partially fund the study. The French government was happy to get rid of Thomas and contributed funding as well so that Thomas could head to New Zealand to study his suicidal crickets. He was right about the parasites causing the behavior!
The hunger strike debacle is not even the wildest part of this story. I love biology so much

Honeymoon with genshin men
honeymoon with genshin men! (their choices of destination, where do you guys stay at, and their action to showcase their love for you)
kaeya, diluc, zhongli, childe, alhaitham x reader
Kaeyaâs Nobel Honeymoon
His plan is to make you feel like a royalty, as if you guys are indeed a heir to the crown or maybe the one holding the highest rank in the country. Well you two can only imagine right?
He bought a whole suite for you guys to stay in Airelles (ChĂąteau De Versailles), France. The suite is called Suite Necker, Itâs a beautiful suite, a magnificent one. The view is also wonderful, especially in spring.
He bought the suite for 4 nights, while he also makes sure both of you can have some fun times by participating in the palace tour or the dance in the royal ball.
Helps you whenever you need to fix your clothes, he also manage to fix any clothes malfunction, just incase it would embarrass you, he would fix it without you knowing; act of service is his passion.
Will take you out to some local choices restaurants, he pick the best one, not the one that are meant for tourist. He wants you to have the best food without thinking about the money you both spend over some tourist trap. (While eating, he would always prepare you and your food first, his? Later would be alright. He doesnât eat his food when you havenât start eating it)
Would photographed you across the city, the suites, the palace and everywhere you go. His excuse? âI just need to commemorate some beautiful things in here..â
Will buy some souvenirs youâre looking at, especially when you decide not to buy it. He would buy 3 kinds of it and pretend to also like it. Shows it to you (as a surprise) after you both get home from the honeymoon.
Dilucâs cottage dream
He rent a luxurious chalet, the name is chalet melilot. Itâs Specifically placed near the mountainside of switzerland so you both can have morning stroll everyday in your honeymoon. Wants to be intact with mother nature since he thought itâll be more private and sensational.
Thought itâll be great if you guys also do some surveys around the country for housing if you both enjoyed the country environment.
He would hire a local chef to make you both three course meal for lunch and dinner, itâs all Switzerlandâs traditional specialties. Specifically made using organic products and original recipe. He wants you to taste the best healthy and tasty meal, while savouring every each bite.
Every day when you guys walk around the mountain and feel even the slightest bit of cold, he would let you use his jacket, the scent is like firewood, so much like diluc.
At night, he would take you out to the city and even take shots of you using his polaroid. Every pictures he take is meant to be inside his small album of you and him (which he would present it, at the end of the joirney), he would pick the best pictures for his wallet. He seem to have everything in remembrance of you.
At the end of the honeymoon, he surprised you with a dogâŠa samoyed. Itâs a cute thought, also an attentive one. âi know i wouldnât always be at home and iâm sorry, this honeymoon make me realise that giving you my best is my priority and i will do so by giving you an accompanyâŠthis samoyed of our will be our forever accompany in this marriage okayâŠ?â
Childeâs new home
Ajax didnât like those romantic and sensational types diluc is into, heâs certainly into kaeyaâs idea, but he wouldnât want that either, itâs too clichĂ©. He wants something traditional and refreshing to you. Something that he wants you to experience only with him, not exactly traditional, not exactly romantic, but certainly fresh. Itâs not exactly the typical âhoneymoonâ, since his purpose is to make this trip unforgettable for both of you, and to learn everything about you both.
And thatâs to travel around the world to search for a new home, he thought itâll be better to stay in his hometown but for the sake of you, he wants to make a fresh new start. At your first stop, you guys explore Europe, especially around Sweden and Greece. The second stop is to explore around Asia, which is Mongolia and Vietnam. itâs such a fascinating trip for you both. The third stop is New Zealand, your once go-to-list. To live under these countries culture and to feel as one. You guys kept on trying to adapt to the new environment and it makes you both know each otherâs habit easily.
You guys have stayed in numerous hotels and apartments. Itâs not exactly romantic nor is it special, itâs both of your purpose to make this trip a whole get-away for newlyweds pressure and such. but makes it endearing is how you both eventually just fall asleep within each other embrace, just resting peacefully in ajaxâs chest, while his arm delicately circled your waist. Heâs a warm blanket and youâre his beloved plushies.
He would tie your shoes, help you with your bags or laundry, and over all, heâs the one helping you in any chores and in any given chance. He wants you to enjoy this trip without having the burden to do this and that. He just wants you to lay back and have your whole attention to him. Ajax only purpose is to see your smile at the end of the road.
When you both are just too exhausted to explore, you guys would order local take outs and eat it like a hungry fish would. He would laugh and you would teased him. Itâs just a moment of laughter and satisfaction. No such a thing as workloads. Just you both having the time of your life together.
Zhongliâs relaxing party
This manâs honeymoon idea is exactly like how you imagine it. Boring but addictive at some way. you both would explore pretty gardens, lovely mountainsides, tea parties, and museum, at taiwan. Itâs such a boring idea, but whatever make zhongli smile and whatever make you feel like at an old grandpa house is exactly what you called âthe zhongli zoneâ. Itâs comforting, being with zhongli, already feels like youâre being snuggled by a huge polar bear.
Heâs such a sweetheart for always making the trip asâŠrelaxing as possible, not wanting to pressure you with the familyâs perspective of how newlyweds should act.
Itâs not like youâre the one whoâs pampering zhongli, he is also trying his best to be suitable enough as the one who court you first. He dips himself inside the hot spring while snuggling with you, he shops some random goods with you, and he also do tea testing by sharing the same cup as you. So relaxingâŠit makes you forget that you will continue to work again soon sigh.
âdo you like this tea? I made this out of boredom and i saw you getting exhausted just by running through stores at the local shopsâŠthe goods are okay but i suggest you to keep your health the same, okay?â, this translates to âiâm worried about you, please donât tire yourself. I want you to be as careful as you are with me when you take care of yourself.â Nonetheless, serves you the tea and even gives you a heartwarming kith on your cheeks.
he would buy you some keychains, handmade ones since he believes itâs more practical for itâs creativity and thoughts in itâŠalso because he appreciates peopleâs handcraft. He still keeps your handmade bracelets even at your wedding day. he also picks you small pretty flowers when you both were strolling around the floral garden. Fresh and beautiful, just like you (he initially want to say this but he tries not to make it cheesy).
Silently serves you like a dutiful servant would. Makes you tea, cooks you meal, and makes sure youâre well rested. He always wants to pay back the things you did for him, he knows itâs not 100% the same, but he wants you to know thatâŠthis honeymoon is made especially for you. After covering you with the blanket and puts on some scented candles. He whispers at night when you were already asleep, âsorry i canât be the best, but iâll always be here when you need me. I love you.â
Alhaithamâs wonder of the world
You present him a ticket to travel Papua especially Raja Ampat for your honeymoon and he was so excited, he holds your hand with glimmering eyesâŠwith a calm devoted look. Heâs always been this way, hard to show his emotion, even when heâs screaming internally.
When you both arrived, he prepared everything for both of you so you donât have to stressed out. He loves being the one in charge of itinerary, he loves to work on the schedules. You would see him humming with a straight face in his work office while heâs typing down the things you would do together as husband and wife.
he sets you both up to a diving session. Heâs so excited he talks about it all night along. You can hear his yap even at the first day you got there. He loves nature, the sea, and everything inside that deep ocean. You were kind of scared of the ocean, you confessed that at first, and he looks at you with confusion before he say such a reassurance that makes you rethink if this is THE Alhaitham youâre thinking of. âif youâre scared, hold my hand and close your eyes..i promise, iâll be there, beside you.â
That words he make instantly scarred your heart with love. You donât even know how it makes you fall harder for him. But you did, you trusted him with your whole life, you hold his hands and he dive you into the sea-worlds. He giggles when he sees you all scaredâŠhe hugged you while you both dive so you wonât be scared or sink when youâre not in his watch. âdonât be coy nowâŠtrust me, i wonât let you out of my sight.â
When you got back homeâŠyou donât even know how he made you so in love. SighâŠalhaitham, the man you are..

[trigger warning in advance]
More of a scrap post -
one thing Iâve noticed significantly with rohini placements, or should I say partly since this obviously wonât apply to everyone:
rohini nativesâ proneness to get into sex scandals of some kind.
hereâs examples:
the left picture depicts Karima El Mahroug, also known by the stage name Ruby Rubacuori (Italian for "Ruby the Heartstealer"). In 2011, Karima was involved in a sex scandal with Silvio Berlusconi. Silvio Berlusconi, former Prime Minister of Italy, was accused and initially convicted of paying then 17 year old Moroccan Karima El Mahroug for sexual services.
born in Morocco, her birth time unfortunately isnât precise, however there is a very high chance Karima is a rohini moon.
on the right, we see Algerian Zahia Dehar. In 2009, Zahia, who was then 16 or 17, was allegedly paid for sex with Karim Benzema, who was a player on the France national football team. This became part of one of the biggest sex scandals to ever hit French sport. Despite her best efforts, Zahia Dehar is still best known in France as a footballer's birthday present.
Zahiaâs exact birth time isnât available either, however it is safe to say that she was most likely a rohini ascendant.
these two women really exemplify life through the lens of rohini. this post is by no means meant to glorify their scandals and struggles with the male world, far from that: It is undeniable that the rohini essence leaves its mark on the female native in one way or the other and these two women really showcase that.
both have in common, that they drew in powerful men through their uninhibited sexuality, as the sex appeal both Karima and Zahia share to this very day is simply unarguable. Berlusconi, as controversial as he may have been, was a PRIME MINISTER after all in all his glory and money. Karim Benzema is a notorious, wealthy footballer.
it is these very sensitive, explicit scandals that have opened a door for them. if we take a look at Karima (rohini moon) now, she is happily married with one daughter, looks amazing and is living an extravagant life with her Italian husband as seen in her Instagram posts, while still maintaining a low profile. Zahia (rohini ascendant) established her very own lingerie line, commanded attention in the French fashion industry and made a debut in the French acting department as well.
Rohini is multifaceted, part of rohini natives is their coquetry and their strong link/tie to the opposite sex and sensuality (think, marilyn monroe for example).
As discussed above it can be quite common for rohinis to end up in sticky situations with the public eye, if you catch my drift. while it doesnât necessarily need to be a blatant sex scandal, it can also be in form of frequent sexualisation, a tainted reputation or defamation of some sort through kinswomen and other envious girls.
truth is wherever life takes a rohini native, she will always benefit in one way or the other and it will most likely be through her beauty and sex appeal.
Of course there is much more to rohini than this

Usually I donât post about anyone or even anything but I feel like I need to say something about whatâs happeningâŠ
Talent doesnât disappear overnight. Skills donât disappear just like that. Leadership isnât destroyed in seconds. A player of this stature doesnât diminish this quickly.
Everyone calling him washed, a fraud, unable to kick a ball doesnât understand how much psyche plays in sports. Sometimes more than physicality and skills. There comes a point in sport where itâs really mind over matter.
Put yourself in his shoes: as a kid he always wanted to play wearing the white shirt and now after the back and forth drama over the years, he has finally made it to the club of his dreams. Imagine how blessed he must feel despite all the pain he has gone through. Then, had one of the biggest presentation for club. Imagine how many expectations and amount of pressure he must feel. Especially joining an almost perfect team that destroyed almost all teams in Europe and still coming off the high of the UCL win. Now heâs put in the position to maintain all of that. And show the world why RM (the best FC club in the world) CHASED him for years (while also knowing that most of the public believes that he toyed with RM by saying yes and no when in fact, he was under so much political pressure to remain in PSG - just recall what President Flo recently mentioned âyou guys canât imagine what he needed to do to get to RMâ). He had to sacrifice one of his best years in PSG and was almost benched/mistreated in the last year in the club. Letâs not forget that heâs still in a legal battle with over unpaid wages. Having gone though the equivalent of war in the football world before all the pieces are now laid out in front of him. Heâs in a club of his dreams, his clubâs president actually understands and he has some of the best teammates in the world right now. Itâs almost too perfect. And now he has to deliver.
Remember the first game he played, made a fab goal and won a trophy instantly. Now in his head, he basically has to repeat that every game. His first few games were actually alright, may not be strongest but it wasnât as bad it is today. Then he got injured. Then he got blamed for not playing for France. Then he went for a holiday which turned into a slew of fictitious SA allegations. Then he performed worse. Then got even more hate. Then didnât play for France again and got hated once more. And now he is at his lowest where he canât even pass or dribble properly in front of an audience. And I say audience because you can tell the form he trains in and the form he plays in are worlds apart. Thatâs because the public not only holds expectations of him being the best player in the world being in the best club but also critiques everything he does to a level that no one (other than the greats of course) get criticised at. The scrutiny of the public eye has gotten to him and Iâm not surprised given how involved everyone has been with him since he was young. Even now, heâs the worst if he doesnât score a goal. When he does score a goal, itâs just a tap in. Nothing can satisfy the fans at this point.
So how can I tell that itâs not a physical deterioration but rather a mental one? Just look at the way his coach, teammates and those in the footballing world talk about it. No one is saying that heâs a bad player but in fact are saying to have patience. The RM coach has benched players for less but he keeps Kylian in for every match and all 90 minutes because they are trying to bring back his confidence. Look at the way Modric, Jude, Lucas & more have spoken about how amazing he is at training and now just needs to showcase himself.
What is worse is that you can tell he is being hard on himself for that. You can see his want to over perform and prove himself everytime he gets the ball which just leads to a worse performance because heâs not in flow state of mind but rather wanting to showcase to the world why RM chose him. The motivation has gone in the wrong direction resulting in poorer and poorer performance. Sometimes trying too hard results in a worse outcome. Also, he may be on the brink of overtraining himself because he might just believe that if he trains hard enough, all of this will go away. And lastly not to forget, heâs also afraid of getting injured after breaking his nose in the Euros and seeing half of his team get injured. None of this is good for delivering a world class performance.
Itâs actually really sad to see how lost he seems on the field, how much of a shell he has become of his former self. Not because the talent and skills has disappeared over night but because he has become afraid of the sport that was his true love. The expectation to deliver has gone to his head. Itâs truly a sorry state to witness because everyone who has watched him over the years knows what he is capable of but for some reason isnât able to bring it out.
Whatever he needs at this point from the mental perceptive, it needs to be done quickly. Or it would spiral way out of hand leaving him worse than before. And we canât have a generational player like him going down that path. We must support him, we must protect him and we must love him. More so now, even more than before.

Usually held in the two weeks after the Olympic Games in the same host city, the Paralympics showcase the best athletes with physical disabilities from around the world competing for their home countries. (The Paralympics are not to be confused with the Special Olympics, which feature athletes with intellectual disabilities.) This year, the Summer Paralympics will take place from August 28 to September 8 in Paris, France.
Quick history lesson: The origins of the Paralympics began shortly after World War II, during the 1948 London Olympics, where 16 wheelchair-using veterans participated. The first official Paralympic Games took place in Rome in 1960 and featured 400 athletes from 23 countries. Since then, the Games have taken place every four years and now feature 4,400 athletes in 22 sports (the Olympics have 32), with 549 gold medals up for grabs.
There are athletes competing from 177 countries (this yearâs Olympics had athletes from 184 countries), including 10 countries that have never been represented in the Paralympic Games before, along with representation from the Neutral and Refugee teams. In case you missed it, at the last Paralympics in Tokyo, China earned the most medals, with Great Britain behind it and the US in third.
Since the 1988 Summer Games and the 1992 Winter Games, the Olympic and Paralympic Games have been held in the same cities and venues. Although Paralympians still strive for equal treatment as Olympic athletes without disabilities, there is a large gap in funding between the Olympics and Paralympics.
Where to Watch
This yearâs Games will make history as the first Paralympic Games to offer live coverage of every one of the 22 sports played. Like the Olympics, every event at the Paralympics will be available to stream on Peacock if youâre in the US.
If you prefer going old school and watching on basic cable, a select number of events will be airing on the NBC channels NBC, CNBC, and USA Network, along with E!, Golf Channel, and Telemundo, which offers coverage in Spanish. In an effort to make the Games more accessible, closed captioning will be available for every Paralympic event (regardless of the platform). You can also watch highlights and athlete interviews on Paralympic.org.
In the UK, Channel 4 has more than 1,300 hours of live coverage scheduled. Folks can also watch through their streaming service or Channel 4 Sportâs YouTube channel, which will show the entirety of the Games for the first time. BBC, BBC Radio 5 Live, and the BBC Sport website will also air highlights and select coverage. The Paralympics website also has a complete list of where to watch by country.
Opening Ceremony
The Opening Ceremony will begin August 28 at 8 pm Paris time, 7 pm BST, 2 pm EDT, and 11 am PDT. Similar to the Olympics opening ceremony, the Paralympics opening ceremony will be held outside of a stadium at one of the major squares in Paris, Place de la Concorde, and the iconic avenue Champs-ĂlysĂ©es will be transformed into the opening ceremony stage.
The competition starts the following day, on August 29, at 11 am EDT (8 am PDT). Like with the Paris Olympics, the start times will be similarly early and continue throughout the day. The specific timing of some of the events might change, so check the schedule of events on the Olympics' Paralympics schedule webpage.
Blind Football (Soccer)
Blind football is an adaptation of football (or soccer, if youâre American) for athletes with vision impairment played with an audible ball. This menâs competition starts early on September 1 and continues on September 2, 3 and 5, with the gold medal match on Saturday, September 7.
Boccia
Boccia is one of only two sports with no Olympic equivalent. It was originally created for athletes in wheelchairs who have impaired motor function or coordination. To win, each team must get the most balls closest to the white ball called the jack, with athletes allowed to make modifications according to their needs. Menâs and womenâs individual games start August 29 and go through September 1, with the gold medal individual matches on September 1 and 2. Mixed pairs and teams start September 3, with gold mixed pairs and teams matches on September 5.
Goalball
The other sport of the Paralympic Games without an Olympic equivalent, goalball is a team sport for the visually impaired and blind, in which players wear special black eye-covering-type glasses so they fully canât see and are thus more equitable (and honestly, look cool as hell). If thereâs anything that the Olympic Games have taught us, itâs that the people go crazy for some out-of-the-norm eyewear. The audience needs to stay as quiet as possible because the ball has bells inside. Thus, the athletes have to rely solely on sound, while they use their whole body to try to block the ball from making it inside the goal. (Lets see Neymar try to do that.) Menâs and womenâs games start August 29 with the gold medal games for both on September 5.
Para Archery
The first game played at the early iteration of the Paralympics in 1948, para archery now has men and womenâs individual and mixed teams, with wheelchair or standing, and with recurve and compound bows used. Menâs and womenâs individual events begin August 29 and continue through September 5, with gold medal matches in individual, teams and with different bows across multiple days.
Para Athletics
One of the most beloved sports in the Paralympics is para athletics, which has been a popular fixture in the games since the inaugural Rome Games in 1960. Today, it spans a wide range of track, jumping, and throwing events, as well as marathons. Because of the wide range of menâs and womenâs events, competition begins on August 30 and happens daily with gold medal matches until the Games end on September 8. Check the full para athletics schedule for more specific eventsâ times.
Para Badminton
Para badminton debuted at Tokyo 2020, although it has been hugely popular for decades. Like badminton, players compete as singles and pairs, as well as standing and in wheelchairs. Group play begins on August 29, with menâs, womenâs, and mixed doubles beginning August 31. Gold medal matches take place September 1 and 2.
Para Canoe
The Paralympic Canoe competition features two types of boats: the kayak and vaâa (traditionally used in Oceania for travel between islands). Para canoes are basically the same as those used in the Olympic Games, but just have a wider bottom for greater stability. The races begin September 6 with gold medal games on September 7 and 8.
Para Road Cycling
Throughout the years, like many other events, Paralympic cycling has grown to adapt to many disabilities, and uses standard bicycles, handcycles, tricycles, and tandems. In road cycling, there are road races, time trials, and relay events. Both the men and womenâs individual and relay events and gold medal races take place daily September 4 through 7.
Para Track Cycling
Para âŻtrack cycling is similar to road cycling but takes place on a velodrome track (as the name suggests). Competition is divided into time trials, individual, and tandem or team sprints, using standard bicycles and tandems (all of which can be adapted for the specific athlete). The various track cycling events and gold medal races take place simultaneously August 29 to September 1.
Para Equestrian
Unlike the three equestrian events at the Olympic Games, the Paralympic equestrian program only includes the dressage competition. Para dressage essentially focuses on how well the rider and horse gel, with riders judged on their riding and performance with the horse. All the events are individual mixed, and each competition has gold medal rounds, taking place August 3, 4, 6 and 7.
Para Judo
Para judo is one of two martial arts competitions at the Games. The Paralympics judo follows the same rules as its Olympic equivalent, except itâs practiced exclusively by athletes with vision impairmentsâand is way more badass, in my humble opinion. (I think Iâm allowed to make that assertion since Iâm also disabled, donât come for me.) With the athletes unable to see their opponent, they must use their sense of touch and careful listeningâincluding slight differences in breathing and movementâto sense what their rival may do next. Menâs and womenâs matches take place September 5, 6, and 7 and have gold medal matches at the end of each day.
Para Powerlifting
Para powerlifting is a menâs and womenâs bench press competition that tests upper body strength where the athletes compete in different weight categories. All of the events are individual and there are gold medal rounds for each competition (which varies by gender and weight class) taking place September 4 to 8.
Para Rowing
A relatively new sport, rowing debuted at the Paralympic Games in 2008. Now, there are five rowing events, including three mixed events. Para rowing rules are nearly identical to those at the Olympics and rowers are eligible for different events according to their gender and impairment categories. The races begin across all categories on August 30, continue to August 31, with final gold medal rounds on September 1.
Para Swimming
Para swimming has remained one of the most enduring sports in the Paralympics since its debut at the Rome Games in 1960. Its popularity is due in part because athletes with all kinds of physical and mental disabilities can participate and doesnât require any specific equipment. (Prosthetics arenât allowed either.) Featuring different swims at different distances, athletes compete in breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, freestyle, and medley. As one of the most popular sports, there are menâs, womenâs, and mixed events virtually nonstop with gold medal races near the end of every day, August 29 until September 7.
Para Table Tennis
One of the OG Paralympian games, table tennis actually has a longer history in the Paralympic Games than its Olympic counterpart. When it began, it was only open to wheelchair users, although today athletes are placed into 11âŻdifferent classes based on their physical and intellectual impairments. Menâs and womenâs doubles, singles and mixed games take place August 29 to September 7, with gold medal games every day except September 2.
Para Taekwondo
Para taekwondo is a new competition that made its Paralympic debut at the Tokyo Games. Focused on athletes with upper limb impairments, they are split into two sports classes and divided into weight categories. Men and women compete August 29 to 31, with gold medal matches at the end of each day.
Para Triathlon
A relatively new sport introduced at the 2016 Rio Games, the para triathlon is held over the âsprintâ distance, which is half the Olympic distance for individual competitions, where athletes swim 750 meters, cycle 20 kilometers, and run 5 kilometers. The competition is divided by menâs and womenâs, with medals being awarded for each race September 1 and 2.
Shooting Para Sport
Shooters compete in rifle and pistol events from distances of 10-meter, 25-meter, and 50-meter in menâs, womenâs, and mixed fields. Depending on needs, athletes compete in a kneeling position, prone, or standing (or in a wheelchair or shooting seat). The games take place August 30 to September 5, with medals awarded each day.
Sitting Volleyball
Sitting volleyball is pretty much the exact same as the volleyball we know and love, except as the name suggests, is a sitting variation of the sport. Itâs played by two teams of six players who move around the court using the power of their arms, along with a lowered net thatâs 3 feet high. The games start on August 29 and continue until the menâs gold medal game on September 6 and the womenâs on September 7.
Wheelchair Basketball
Originally used for rehabilitation and exercise for World War II veteransâwheelchair basketball is quintessential Paralympics. Now, itâs one of the most popular and beloved sports for wheelchair users around the world. Games start August 29 and go until the menâs gold medal match September 7, with the womenâs September 8.
Wheelchair Fencing
Whatâs more badass than fencing? Wheelchair fencing. In this sport that requires discipline (and ability to not flinch when a sword is coming at you), athletes compete in a special wheelchair frame designed for the sport which is fastened to the floorâmeaning the fencers cannot move and are always close to their opponent. Just like the Olympic equivalent, wheelchair fencing consists of three disciplines: foil, Ă©pĂ©e, and saber. The menâs and womenâs matches take place September 3 to 7, with gold medal rounds at the end of every day.
Wheelchair Rugby
Wheelchair rugby is a four-person team sport played in specially designed wheelchairs. It combines elements of rugby, basketball, and handball, with players using a round ball. Because itâs such an aggressive sport, itâs often referred to as âmurderball.â Need I say more? Youâre gonna wanna watch this one. Mixed games start August 29, with the gold medal games September 2.
Wheelchair Tennis
Wheelchair tennis pretty much follows the same rules of able-bodied tennis, except here the ball can bounce twice before the player hits it back. Athletes are divided into open and quad classes, along with menâs, womenâs, singles, and doubles. Games start August 30, with gold medal matches September 4 to 7.

A memorial service was held in Lviv for 7-year-old Emilia, 18-year-old Daria, 21-year-old Yaryna, and their mother Yevhenia, all killed in the Russian strike on September 4.
Meanwhile, Russian propaganda was at a film festival in Venice. The film "Russians at War" had funding from Canadian tax dollars. Unless something changes, it will also be shown at a film festival in Toronto on September 10th. It received $340,000 from the Canada Media Fund, which receives funding from the Government of Canada (Source). It also had support from Franceâs Centre National de CinĂ©ma.
This is some of what the Ukrainian Canadian Congress had to say about it. You can find more of their statements on their website. They encourage everyone to contact the Canada Media Fund to share views on the funding and that the screening of the film should be cancelled. Contact information is in the link.
The Canadian Government says it is very concerned about the influence of Russian propaganda. Then why is the Canada Media Fund using taxpayer money to fund: âA movie â Russians at War â made by a filmmaker whose previous movies used to be broadcast by Russia Today, a Russian propaganda outlet sanctioned by the Government of Canada? âA filmmaker who entered sovereign Ukrainian territory together with invading Russian armies, thus violating Ukrainian law, Ukrainian sovereignty and possibly breaching Canadian sanctions? âWhy did this film receive $340,000 from the Canada Media Fund, which is funded by the Government of Canada? âWhy is the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) screening a movie that seeks to explain away Russiaâs genocidal war of aggression against Ukraine? Why is TIFF showcasing a film which blames âpropagandaâ or âthe fog of warâ for the Russian armies who invaded Ukraine and who rape, torture, murder and dehumanize Ukrainians?
The TVO (Ontario's public educational media organization) had this to say on the matter of the film.
Russians at War is at its core an anti-war film. It is unauthorized by Russian officials and was made at great personal risk to the filmmaker, who was under constant threat of arrest and incarceration for trying to tell an unofficial story. This film shows the increasing disillusionment of Russian soldiers as their experience at the front doesnât jive with the media lies their families are being told at home. The film was produced by an Academy Award nominee with the support of cultural agencies in France and Canada because it is a documentary made in the tradition of independent war correspondence. We encourage people to see the documentary for themselves when it is available. It will be screening at the Toronto International Film Festival next week and will be airing on TVO in the coming months. TVO is an education and public affairs-focused organization. Our priority is to provide our viewers with important stories from across Ontario and around the world. TVO remains firmly committed to delivering high-quality and ethical content. We value transparency and integrity in our work and continue to uphold these principles in all our operations.â â TVO Media Education Group
This is naivety at best. No matter what, it's being complicit to white washing Russian war crimes.
Anastasia Trofimova, the documentary's filmmaker, has at least 11 films funded by RT. And as the DOJ in America has shown us recently, RT has direct ties to the Kremlin. To think she could get access and just film anything without the approval of the FSB is laughable. Nothing happens without their approval, and at the very least it would be a breach of OpSec.
And what she says gets even worse.
Trofimova was asked at the Venice press conference on whether it was âethicalâ to humanize Russian soldiers, in light of war crimes committed by Russiaâs army during its ongoing invasion of Ukraine.  âI find it a little bit of a strange question, if we can humanize or not humanize someone. So, are there lists of people who we can humanize and people who we canât? Of course, we have to humanize everyone. This is a huge tragedy for our region, first of all, and for the entire world,â replied Trofimova.  âIf we donât see each other as people⊠ these black and white stereotypes about each other, this will only make the war continue. This will only make the hatred grow⊠unfortunately, thatâs sort of the route taken by politicians, but I donât think that this is the route that regular people should take.â
Of course she frames it as a great tragedy for Russia. "Russia is always the victim and should never be held accountable" is the common narrative and attitude. She didn't mention Bucha, or Irpin, or any of the other cities that have been wiped off the map. She doesn't acknowledge the ethnic cleansing being done by her country or why Russians are being regarded as something other than human due to their actions and behavior. She keeps talking about seeing people as people, but doesn't acknowledge the perverse racism and dehumanization her fellow Russians do to Ukrainians and the ethnic minorities within Russia. The soldiers in the Russian army carry this attitude to the battlefield. It's not hard to find this behavior in all the videos on Telegram.
To that point and in answer to a second question by the same journalist on whether she had seen the Ukrainian films in Venice, Trofimova voiced her disquiet at the ending of Olha Zhurbaâs documentary Songs of Slow Burning Earth which is also playing Out of Competition. The audiovisual diary captures the impact on Ukrainian people and society in the first two years of the ongoing Russian invasion, which began in February 2022. âI found it to be really good, especially the first 15, 20 minutes⊠when people just started to find out that the war is beginning⊠I found it to be really strong,â said Trofimova. âThe ending, though, I wasnât that much of a fan of because it sort of contrasted Ukrainian kids and Russian kids, with Ukrainian kids thinking about what they can do to build a better Ukraine for the future, and Russian kids were just shown as marching and singing war songs. âI found this to be playing into that whole narrative that Russians, by definition, are these aggressive and awful people⊠you know that itâs in their blood to be to be this way."
Look, if she has a problem with how Russian children are being portrayed in the ending of that other film, then maybe she should look around and wonder why the portrayal is there. Ukrainians aren't the ones filling Russian children's heads with propaganda and revanchism. Your fellow Russians are sending their kids to school with backpacks with the fucking Z on them, or making them wear tank costumes in parades. I've read articles of Russians sending their kids to some form of military camp. It's Russian society that creates and reinforces standards to be awful people, not Ukrainians. Examine your damn society first. Look at the war crimes Russian soldiers willingly commit and record to post on Telegram. Listen to what your fellow Russians say about Ukrainians. It's not hard.
This is all grotesque manipulation and propaganda.
If you want to read this article these excerpts are from, here. I'm so disgusted I'm getting a headache.
