Today's food recommendation is Wyevale Garden Centre in Woodthorpe! They have an array of food - your traditional Garden Centre food like carvery, light bites etc. My Nana and I have been a few times and never had any issues with service or the meals provided - we love a good panini!

No Service Cremations Meadowbrook

Unlike the traditional funeral, cremation does not require embalming or a casket. This can significantly reduce the costs associated with a funeral service and oftentimes families choose this option to save money.
Dr Kate Woodthorpe is a senior lecturer in Sociology at the Centre for Death and Society, University of Bath and has conducted research on funeral practices and costs. Dr Hannah Rumble is a researcher in the same department. To know more about No Service Cremations, visit the Farewell Funerals website or call 0404660974.
We offer a cremation service without any ceremony, embalming or viewing which is sometimes called direct cremation. This option can save you thousands of dollars. The remains are usually cremated in a simple container rather than an expensive casket.
The existing mausoleums at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens feature crypt space for single casket interment and niches that can hold one to six cremations. The front of the niche can be customized with a photo or other personal memento.
Meadowbrook Funeral Home and Cremation Gardens in Marshall, Texas offers traditional ground burial, mausoleum entombment and cremation niche interment options. The staff is experienced and compassionate.
With the increasing popularity of cremation many families are choosing to omit the funeral service and instead have a memorial or celebration of life service at a later date. This is called a no service cremation or direct cremation.
This option involves the body being cremated without any ceremony, wake or visitation and the ashes can be kept by the family or scattered. This type of funeral is often preferred by those who wish to bury their loved ones but also may have limited finances or simply want a no fuss farewell.
This can be arranged during a pre-arrangement meeting and a crematorium authorization form needs to be signed (usually by the spouse or next of kin). A simple container is used rather than an expensive casket. There is usually a waiting period before cremation can take place and this varies from state to state. The cost of this option is much less than a traditional funeral.
There are several benefits to choosing cremation only. It is often significantly cheaper than a traditional burial because there is no need to pay for a casket or cemetery property. Additionally, cremation takes up less space.
However, some families prefer a funeral service with the body present before cremation occurs. If this is the case, it is possible to hold a visitation/viewing and a funeral service with a rental ceremonial casket that looks much like a traditional casket on the outside.
After the memorial service, the body is then cremated and returned to the family in an alternative container. Some choose to scatter the ashes or bury them in special locations while others purchase multiple urns so that they can keep their loved one close by at all times. This option allows families more time and flexibility with planning for a service, which can be important in the grieving process. It also removes the strict time constraints that are associated with a burial.ย To know more about No Service Cremations, visit the Farewell Funerals website or call 0404660974.

Delve Architects strips back and extends 19th-century stone barn in Surrey
Delve Architects has transformed a 19th-century haybarn in Surrey into a family home, revealing the original stone structure and complementing it with two cedar shingle-clad extensions.
The single-storey dwelling, called Woodthorpe Stables, is located in a residential area outside the market town of Goldaming. It was previously converted into a home in the 1950s but had not been updated since, before being left vacant in 2015.
Delve Architects transformed a 19th-century stone barn into a home adding a cedar-clad extension
Appointed to redesign the building to accommodate a two-bedroom home, London-based Delve Architects stripped away the 1950s additions and finishes in order to reveal and celebrate the original form and materiality of the barn.
"The stone walls were in good condition and the roof had been recently re-tiled, so to reduce the carbon footprint of the project we went for a retrofit, rather than knock everything down and start again," director Edward Martin told Dezeen.
The extension adjoins to the existing stones walls of the structure
The rough stone and brick walls of the barn bear the marks of previous openings and alterations, which Delve Architects has used as a backdrop for exposed modern fittings and two new extensions built with Douglas fir frames.
The L-shaped structure of the original barn surrounds a walled courtyard to the north, and a key aim of the project was to improve the connection between this garden and the home.
The studio left the original stone walls exposed
At the barn's western end,ย a former mezzanine has been removed to expose the gabled roof structure in a large living space, with a small extension housing a kitchen and dining area overlooking the garden.
A glazed corridor has been added alongside the bedroom block to the east, providing circulation alongside the rooms that can be completely opened to the garden through sliding wood-framed doors.
In the centre of this block is a new bathroom, finished with blue terrazzo and hexagonal floor tiles.

TYPE transforms stone barn into home in the English countryside
The Douglas fir frames of the modern additions have been left exposed to echo the original wooden roof beams visible in the barn. Externally, they are clad in cedar shingles informed by the hanging clay tiles of the neighbouring properties.
"By exposing the structure internally, you can see a clear definition between new and old," said Martin.
The interior used stone, brick, wood and plaster
The interiors feature a mix of exposed stone, brickwork and paved floors in the living areas. Lime and clay plaster are used to create contrasting ceilings and a warmer feel in the carpeted bedrooms.
Aiming to reduce waste as much as possible, materials saved during the construction of the project will be used in the construction of an additional extension to the home, for which planning permission has already been granted.
The shingles were informed by clay tiles
South London-based Delve Architects was founded in 2017 by directors Edward Martin and Alex Raher.
A stone barn was also the basis of another recent conversion by practice TYPE, which converted a 200-year-old barn in Devon into a family home. Meanwhile, Sandy Rendel Architects converted a barn in Sussex and clad the structure in corrugated steel.

The weekend before Christmas โ๏ธ
December 25 is just around the corner, which means your holiday festivities are likely ramping up! What have you been up to or have you been more in chill mode? From shopping for the perfect gift for everyone on your list to making your Christmas party plans, the spirit of the season is in full swing - as is the Weather - can't decide what's worse, the burning heat of this super or the crispy pain of this cold.
I'm not even fully organised yet ๐ my plan is to shop Monday! I've started wrapping some of the kids gifts, my parents and nana are sorted, need to sort something out for my nephew (I dont have many to buy for) but I feel like life the past two months has been so hectic that I feel like the festive season crept up on me. I haven't been my best self the past 6 months I admit, stress has taken its toll and I guess I've always found Christmas to be overbearing and the expectations so high. I was the kid that was miserable doing everything though, apparently at Christmas I'd cry, I mean, it makes sense, if you knew me you'd know I'm a miserable sod ๐
Positives of the week though:
โข Winnie had her first Nativity play this week with my nephew.
โข Oscar got his Chief Bronze Award at Beavers and had his Christmas Party.
โข Oscar also had his celebration of learning assembly.
โข Oscar is also happy I decided to buy a f*cking Elf. I'll post the videos of what I've done. Thankfully it's only been this week but his little face has been so happy.
โข I've finally got round to wrapping up some of the kids presents and according to a Christmas list my daughter gave me I have some epic Christmas shopping to do! But remember your children need your presence more than your presents
โข I did some mini volunteering wrapping of presents at the Methodist Church to help for a Christmas party this weekend - Santa will be there. It's gotta be done. Also helped with the food bank - not much but it's a start of giving back.
โข I had a Christmas dinner yesterday amongst loads of people I didn't know - really pushed my anxiety boundaries but I did it.
โข The kids saw @louthlions Santa sleigh!
โข Also Winnie and I have been doing lots of baking!
