... according to Church dogma, demons had no gender, making the existence of the female Gello demon an impossibility. Worse still was that the notion of independent demons challenged the omnipotence of God: the loss of a child was a punishment from God, caused by the sin of the parents. People whose children died were supposed to do penance, not blame the loss on a demon.

"It is also clear from these monsters that the loss of a child (or the inability to have one in the first place) was not thought of solely as a personal tragedy for a woman - it was a failure of womanhood. Lamia and Gello may be sympathetic, but they are monstrous nonetheless. Lamia is, fundamentally, a woman who is unable to keep her children alive, and whilst there might be understanding of the pain this causes her, she is nonetheless demonised for it. Gello, meanwhile, is tormented not just because she died young, but because she never married or had children. There is no suggestion that her lost life could have taken a different path - she is not driven to furious murder because, had she lived, she could have composed great poetry, or written works of philosophy, or become an athlete. The failure to marry or have children, or to keep existing children alive, turned Lamia and Gello from beautiful young women into monsters, demons who were entirely outside of civilised society. They had failed at being women, to such an extent that they were women no longer."

thinking about how aiglamene has a shitty bone prosthetic leg. notably, i'm thinking about the "shitty" part and what it implies. because you can't convince me that harrow wasn't capable of giving aiglamene a perfect replacement by the age of like. seven. nor can you convince me that harrow wouldn't offer, even if she disguises it as pragmatism. so that leaves the conclusion that aiglamene refused. and the best explanation for why she would do that is: that leg was made for her by a necromancer she cared about.
aiglamene is an old soldier, capable of teaching the rapier, and claims to have seen duels involving a cavalier primary in her youth. so. yeah basically what i'm saying here is that aiglamene was probably someone's cav. and there's a good chance her necro died in combat and made her that leg shortly before

Ehm... Sorry to bother, but... Could we, maybe, possibly... see Vasco's wife and her lover pictured by your hand? Sorry again, thank you for listening. Take care.
*delicately lays you back into the water to prevent any stress or dehydration*
Unfortunately I don't have her lover figured out yet, but I think Ludovica looks something like this:

I’m still processing how it happened and wondering what it all means, but today a big pink hamfaced English guy tried to fight Dr Glass in a parking lot (!) and a completely unrelated, amazingly tall woman appeared (!!) and charged the other guy in defense of Dr Glass (!!!) shouting at him so effectively that he got in his car and drove off.
Dr Glass doesn’t look like anything in particular or even do that much, he is so ORDINARY. He just emits some kind of magnetic field that causes Events, and yet the magnetic field also creates feedback that insulates him from the Events. Doesn’t even have to do his own fight scenes!! just magnetically attracts a TALL BRAVE WOMAN to destroy the entire fighting premise. No one can prepare for this. I feel like I’m the only person who notices it

going back to psych season one immediately after finishing the show (or god forbid the movies) is extremely jarring.
who the hell is this toothpick— oh, that's our main character. harrowing! looks like i could throw him like a javelin. lassie's face looks like it's been well-sanded and put through three rounds of industrial buffing. some sinner also removed all the salt from his salt and pepper?!?!?? VICK IS PREGANT??? and then of course jules and gus look the exact same except gus doesn't seem nearly as tired which makes sense bc he hasn't had a gun pointed in his face at all yet at this point.

In some ways these dismissals of our demonesses [from their male scholarly contemporaries] might seem legitimate: we can, after all, be fairly confident that there weren’t snake-women flying around murdering children, nor virgin ghosts returning from the grave to kill young women. Perhaps the men who ridiculed Gello-believers were just logical, thoughtful individuals: philosophers, who understood the natural world better than the ‘foolish old women’ around them. However, this defence only holds up so far. As we’ll see plenty of men – even educated, religious, revered ones – were quite happy to accept myths about seductive snake-women who wanted to murder sailors, or monsters disguised as beautiful women trying to trick innocent men into marrying them. It wasn’t the existence of magical snake monsters that disturbed the cool logic of their minds – it was the existence of magical snake monsters who didn’t focus their attentions on men. We can also see this, to a lesser extent, in ancient Greece and Rome – there are no slightly patronizing rationalizing accounts about the sexy version of Lamia.

really gets me pissed when men see my frustration as amusement. thinking abt how i would get genuinely angry about something w my ex (unrelated to him in these cases, like getting cut off in traffic, etc) and he would look at me w this little smile on his face and say something along the lines of “youre so cute when youre mad” shut the fuck up i will rip ur fucking face apart

“is g/t like a horny thing or a fluff thing for you?” buddy my latest OCs are a mage and the living battery for their power who are locked in an unending cycle of killing and resurrecting one another. it’s about the psychological weight of holding someone you utterly loathe in the palm of your hand while also devoting your entire existence to protecting them. “horny or fluff” buddy we are way past that. there is a third secret option and that is “psychologically fucking up my OCs via size dynamics” get on my LEVEL
