Whenever you mention Machete having a stiletto, my brain always first assumes you're talking about the shoe and the imagery of Machete always wearing them to serve as self defense will infinitely amuse me

Since Hermes is essentially the god of tricks/wit, and Ody is his descendant, I just love the idea of him watching parts of Odysseus' journey and excitedly pointing and slapping the god or goddess next to him, like "DID YOU SEE THAT!?"
Think about it: Odysseus literally sacking Troy by hiding in a giant horse; bluffing so well that Athena- goddess of wisdom- falls for it; drugging Polyphemus with lotus wine (Hermes would be proud).
You can't convince me that Hermes wasn't somewhere eating popcorn during "Ruthlessness" and that when Ody opens the mother f-ing wind bag like a cocky little sh!t, Hermes didn't burst out laughing and start applauding.
He fluttered down to Uncle Poseidon after that, like, "Ohoho! My darling little grand-baby just schooled you!"

one of the things that continues to strike me on reread is how much the character of Darcy, and Austen through him, finds Mr. Bennet dead. And how much Elizabeth, in growing and changing and discarding her past blindness, has to move past her way of seeing her father and thus of seeing reality, because the two are connected! Darcy’s letter exposes her father’s flaws to Elizabeth in a way she’d never been able to see before. Most especially the way his laziness and neglect of his own gifts have hurt his family and that ultimately he doesn’t. care. Not enough to change. It literally says that she comes home from Hunsford and tries to laugh at her sisters’ and mother’s folly (the way she used to; the way her father has taught her to by example for her whole life) and she can’t anymore! It sticks in her throat. She is grieved by the failures that she sees in him, all the more so because she IS his favorite and she loves him! And the thing about Mr. Bennet is he never changes. The Lydia/wickham situation exposes to him sharply his own conduct and the consequences and he feels it! Because he is neither stupid nor unfeeling. But he, like everyone, has free will. And he chooses not to change when the opportunity presents itself. He even jokes about how quickly his feeling bad will pass and how soon everything will go back to normal, to his laziness and his selfishness. He is set in his ways and he serves as a contrast to Elizabeth’s personal journey because he embodies a version of a person she could have become and was in danger of becoming if her only goal at all times was to laugh at and judge people from the sidelines.
#pride and prejudice#I’ve always loved his character because he IS funny and he is iconic!!! and his love for Lizzy is touching!#he’s not faking it.#but he is so flawed. a man of taste a man of ability a man of judgment.#a man who could and SHOULD have set a different tone for his children and chose not to!#and they SUFFER FOR IT#their house is a divided one. and every child feels the pain of living in a house where the parents neither respect each other#nor are on the same team#there is a crack running through their house for this reason and it’s how Lydia (and Kitty) came to be so neglected!#who is going to discipline them or guide them? certainly not Mr. Bennet!#he’s so important to teach too. because the boys LOVE HIM. of course!#and are always very struck by his failures and laziness once I point it out#and yeah Darcy one of the only people who can expose him. because Darcy is putting in the work a man should be doing#Darcy’s house IS in order. his love is active and protective. he is fulfilling his role!#Mr. Bennet’s gifts are so extraordinary—the wit. the insight into human nature. honestly the capacity for wisdom#but he likes his library. he likes enjoying himself more than he likes doing his duty#as either a father or a husband#he does fail Mrs. Bennet! I have compassion for her there#anyway I love to think about this: something no version I have ever seen has ever fully explored#but man is it on the page#yeah yeah sorry for all the words. teacher off duty etc.

So Athena is the goddess of Wisdom and War Strategy, right? With this information, could we say that Athena is the goddess of Roast Battles???

Revelation 10:1
And I saw another strong angel descending from heaven, arrayed with a cloud, and a rainbow was on his head, and his face was like the sun...
Matthew 3:2
saying: “Repent, for the Kingdom of the heavens has drawn near.”
Revelation 1: 7,8
Look! He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, and those who pierced him; and all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in grief because of him. Yes, Amen. “I am the Alʹpha and the O·meʹga,” says Jehovah God, “the One who is and who was and who is coming, the Almighty.”

I've been aware of this quote (as a staunch Kill Phoenix Wright believer) for a long time, but I never really thought about it from the other side because I hadn't played Ghost Trick but now...
I've seen a lot in the courtroom. I've seen prosecutors wield weapons, be they tasers or whips or swords. I've seen prosecutors guzzle coffee and wine. I've seen prosecutors who appeal to higher powers and who are convicted criminals themselves, but I have NEVER seen a CAT PROSECUTOR WHO CAN'T EVEN READ. RIDDLE ME THAT FUCKING ONE, TAKUMI.

This week marks the one-year anniversary of The 9/11 Roleplay Post, which as of this writing has 130,023 notes and is still live and going strong - and, thankfully, so am I!
We're in the time of year that's the run-up to the anniversary of the terror attacks, and when this season rolls around, it's always a revelation to me - it never hits me the same way twice. Thankfully, I don't dread it the way I used to, and I'm grateful to be at the point in my ongoing journey back to life and art where it's more and more becoming a time of blessing, grace, and appreciation for life.
Over the next 4 weeks, I'll be re-upping some of my September 11th posts from years past, and I'll have news about my ongoing performance art collaboration that ended up being directly tied in to this long journey back - not my idea, not my intent, but inevitable, and, increasingly, right.
I haven't been around here much this summer - I've taken some time off from social media and reacquainted myself with What it's like to actually leave the house, being with my family whom I cherish, and preparing for a long-awaited move to a bigger apartment that's not up several flights of stairs! (After 15 years in this place, we all have calves like Clydesdales.)
Enjoy the rest of summer while it lasts! This fall is going to be a uniquely superheated time in our world, and even as we prepare ourselves in whatever ways we can, remember to give yourself time and space and permission to play, to relax, to give yourself treats, to just do nothing at all and wander through the world around us, to run and play and jump and sing and shout and look up at the clouds and at twilight, make a wish on the first star you see.
Because, as any dog will tell you, wishes do come true!

AU where Hermes really IS the one who fights for Odysseus and is not the one who shows up for "Dangerous."
In this version- it turns out that when Athena said goodbye, she meant it. She can't (or won't) help Odysseus after the cyclops incident, leaving him to fend for himself.
But Athena isn't the only divine being whose gifts Odysseus partakes in. During the Circe Saga, Hermes fills the void of Athena, choosing to aid his great-grandson by fostering his unique skills of wit and trickery. (It's like wisdom-- just faster, darling! And don't be afraid to have a bit of fun with it.)
After the Thunder Saga, Hermes loses track of Odysseus, however, and spends time intermittently searching for him. When he finds him with Calypso, he decides he'll steal him away from the island, but is stopped by a barrier created by Zeus that prevents anyone (even a god) from entering, forcing him to confront his father directly. Hermes uses his cleverness to convince the other gods during "God Games"-- but, this time, he'll also have to convince Athena. (She would possibly take Ares' place in the song or Aphrodite, so that Hermes would have to face both gods of war). (Instead of tell your "lover" something, the line would change to tell your "brother" most likely.)
While successful with the others, Hermes, unfortunately, isn't quick enough to avoid getting thunderbolted by his father, though. The saga ends with bloody feathers floating to the ground...
Cut to the Vengeance saga where Athena takes Hermes' place to release Odysseus and sings "Dangerous" with a few obvious changes that cater to her teachings of strategy, etc. Odysseus is grateful, but confused about why Athena has come back to help him after leaving so many years ago. She tells him she didn't come back for him, however....

Echoes of Wisdom Headcanon Countdown
༺ Day 22▪︎ 79 Left
When Link goes off to search for Navi (leading into the events of Majora'a Mask), Zelda again is left in a situation where she feels alone. She supposes the best she can do is be grateful that this time, Ganondorf is not a threat and her father is still alive - but he's gone back to primarily ignoring her as he did before, even if he does take her prophecies a bit more seriously now. Desperate to perhaps assist Link's search or find some "use" for herself, she requests that Impa train her like she did in the other timeline. She excels quickly thanks to vague visions of memories, and uses that ability to sneak out of the palace when she can - but she never does find Link until he returns from Termina. She travels, reconnecting with Ruto and even becomes friends with Malon; but she never finds Navi at the fairy springs either. And somehow, when at last the Hero of Time does return to Hyrule, the Ocarina she gave to him seems to reveal lifetimes of grief he masks.
