• Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg and Secretary of Labor Julie Su quietly assisted in winning labor rights for dockworkers, ending a strike that could have had catastrophic economic consequences. (10-4-24)

• In Springfield, Ohio, where Haitian migrants have been blamed for the disappearance of local animals with Trump claiming “‘migrants are walking off’ with geese in the town” and “they’re eating the dogs” - a lie also promoted by JD Vance, Ohio’s own sitting Senator, with no evidence - it turns out that the missing geese were actually the victims of a 64-year-old white man who was hunting illegally. • A Trump-appointed federal judge blocked Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan again after another judge reinstated it earlier this week. (10-3-24)

• Republicans and crazy Facebook uncles everywhere have spent this week spreading disinformation about the FEMA response to Hurricane Helene, including AI photos of Trump standing in floodwater and wild claims that Biden is sending money to undocumented immigrants. In reality, the Biden-Harris administration has provided substantial emergency assistance and both Biden and Harris have visited the region. Meanwhile, it turns out that Trump was the one who redirected money from disaster relief to send to ICE during his presidency. Shocker. (10-4-24)

• Seriously, though, Trump is not who you want to call in an emergency. Before allowing disaster relief to reach victims of wildfires in California, then-president Trump forced aides to show him an electoral map to see if he had voters there. He evidently intended to withhold the aid if he found out it was going to mostly Democratic voters. This would be a career-ending scandal in any other political era but alas, we are living in this one. (10-3-24)

• Finally, far-right extremist and Oklahoma superintendent of schools Ryan Walters intends to put Bibles in public schools, which is already disturbing, but in a stunning display of corruption, the only ones that meet his specifications are the so-called “Trump Bibles” that include the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. They go for $60 apiece and Trump gets fees from each one. (10-4-24)

No, wait, I’m going to say that one again:

In Oklahoma, taxpayers’ money will be used to put Trump Bibles in public schools. Their money will go directly to Trump. Not a joke!!! Not an exaggeration!!!

…Surely the voters who are still undecided are lying, right?? Right?!

the thing about this la fire that pisses me off is that you know those elites and a-listers living there can just jump into their private jets and get out of there but my heart hurts for all the thousands of film and tv workers who live there who are going to lose everything.

JOANNA'S FAMILY NEEDS HELP

A new Greater Gatsby is out today, and even though she's not in this particular episode, now's a great time to talk about Fig and Ford's very own Claudette Knickerbocker, the fabulous Joanna Sotomura, who among other things has elevated quite a few Tin Can and Shipwrecked projects with her wonderful talents.

Joanna is from Hawaii, and her family owns a Christmas store in Maui. The store's employees, all residents of Maui, have been greatly impacted by the horrific wildfires, many losing their homes, and Joanna's family has set up a GoFundMe to help them rebuild their lives from the ashes. You can even keep your donation from being publicly listed if you so choose.

In order to avoid opportunistic scammers, people are understandably being encouraged to send their donations to established, well-known organizations, so more private fundraisers like this one will not be getting the bulk of the attention. But since we know Joanna and that this is not a scam, it is a great way to help in the aftermath of Maui and know exactly where your money is going--into the pockets of these everyday people devastated by a horrible tragedy.

If you're looking to cast a wider net, I'd also highly recommend the Maui Food Bank, the Maui Strong Fund, or the Maui Humane Society if you want to help out some furry friends.

I know times are hard and money is tight. I mean, I'm working two jobs and still barely making my meager ends meet. But at least I have an apartment/home to stress over paying the rent for. A lot of the people of Maui can no longer say the same.

okay yes i get it we all hate taeil but can we not spread misinformation about the case?? the police hasn't even revealed anything about the particulars, yet everyone is spreading every little explanation to what he did when there's no statement or actual proof yet. and if nothing gets revealed that's fine, because we are not entitled to know. that is the privacy of the victim. again, this should stay about the victim and the victim only. kpop stans always want the reason, they want to know exactly what happened. when someone leaves the group for personal reasons, we just can't seem to rest without the explanation why. when a case like this happens, we want to know everything that happened. and i get that we're nosy fans but can we not make up stuff??? just be patient and wait for official statements, and start being okay with not knowing every piece of information. that being said, fuck taeil.

i think it's very nice and very cool that we have a wildfire season here in california the same way that we have rainy seasons i'm sure that's a 100% normal thing and not incredibly horrifying if you take a minute to think about it

posting here bc theres less ppl following me on this blog compared to main FDJSKL but it is thundering (and therefore lightning is striking as well) currently and we've been in an intense heatwave and there's evac alerts and orders all around the area and i've just kind of been like 🧍‍♂️ for the past couple weeks trying to be chill about it bc this is the fourth or fifth year in a row of this so i am somewhat used to it but also aough :( also now i have an expensive drawing tablet that i would not be able to buy a new one of so i am trying to figure out if i should include it in my grab-n-go evac bag... its so big though and would take up so much room but RRRGHHH I DUNNO i hate these sorts of decisions 😭😭😭

(hopefully tumblr doesn't absolutely destroy the bitrate of this but) first time trying Apocalyptic Shadow and i had all my good characters on Argenti, so i had a scuffed throwaway team for Cocolia and my underlevelled, barely-any-relics E2 Firefly had to fight the last bit by herself. we didn't win because of a last minute Imprisonment, but between Wildfire kicking in and how long she hung on for i'm so proud of her anyways lmao ❤️‍🔥

Yeah so Fire Season started and I can see the flames from my apartment parking lot. Half the town’s had to evacuate.

Photos from yesterday. Gonna try and get more from today b/c one of the mountains is completely hidden by smoke. Over 15k acres and 0% contained.

CalFire helicopters were rattling the windows as they flew overhead to dump water from the reservoir on the fire. I’ve never seen the CalFire planes close enough to see the lettering on their sides, either.

Kissing for Tamaraneans usually means simply ‘holding the lips together’. There’s no movement to it from their side, it’s literally just the lips staying in contact. It is the only way they learned, so unless they

a) learn of someone how it’s (human-ly) to be done (either by being taught it or by trying it out and learning during the action - the latter would probably require ‘breaks’ during the kiss though to actually explain and talk about it) or b) are like Blackfire and enjoy trying out things, have probably seen someone else do it, and/or go with what the other does without worry or hesitation

they will not immediately reciprocate the kiss in the same way that your muse might do it.

Specifically Celeste has such a habit of coming across as rude and overzealous about battling and fighting and Carmine just really hits that nail on the head. She's perfect.
