So, this is a… well, I’m just gonna call it an Interest Checker for all my muses. Except, it isn’t really a “checker” in the way that you see other people do. I don’t want to have a list of muses you might be interested in, that feels too much to keep up with and checking through a list everytime before sending something also kinda, doesn’t feel like my thing. No, I’d much rather simply have likes from those of you that are interested in (or willing to) interacting with all my muses, which is what this is for.

Liking this doesn’t mean you get something from all my muses instantly. You might never get anything from them, or not from all of them. It’s mostly just a reassurance for me when I want to like call-things or send things in or like suggest plot-ideas or something, that I know ‘oh yes I can suggest/send muse x to this mun because they are alright with my other muses’ when that muse of mine might never have interacted with yours yet.

That one tamaranean standing alone is Kahmlur, I talked about her a bit here but am still not sure if I actually want to make her a proper, full-time-here OC. I still love her a lot though, so maybe I should consider it. I think anyone who at least roughly knows my muses can recognize who the rest are.

Power switches. Like, with anyone, even a ‘normal’ human, I just like the concept of like experiencing things from the other’s perspective in rgeards of powers. Even better if mixed with multiple others, that each has the power of someone else but no two have simply ‘exchanged’ powers.

Someone catch them purring. None of my tamaraneans would actually mention that their species is capable of it (unless specifically asked about it) since it is a rather very rare occasion to happen at all - perhaps we’d have to talk about the circumstances of the moment before doing this as they have to basically ‘not have any worry in the world’ for it to happen and that’s a rather difficult thing to achieve - but, I imagine this would be fascinating for anyone to experience and I’d really like to explore the reaction my tamaraneans would give to being ‘caught’ doing it.

Headcanons about how it was for the royal family back before everything became what it is now:

Despite having much to do with being the ruler, and a war raging, and all, Myand’r took care to always take the time to be there for the meals together with his family.

As children of the royal family, the siblings weren’t really supposed to go outside much. If at all, they were usually accompanied by at least a few guards, and those were instructed to never actually lose sight of the royal.

It had grown a custom between the sisters that they took unscheduled ‘training’ together - usually by Blackfire’s suggesting - and later denied to have done any fighting at all later on, even if (usually Starfire) carrying injuries from the fight.

Another routine, though I’m not sure if it would be called a tradition, was that Wildfire, until he was sent off planet, was just gone from where he had been (often asleep) before, and found after a little bit of a panic of everyone of the family and a hectic search somewhere completely odd. Like somewhere outside in their garden, in small corners or boxes or the likes, even in weapon storages hidden in the walls of the castle. Usually he was still, or again, asleep, and the family ended up assuming that he maybe was simply moving in his sleep, or something.

Everyday after waking up, Starfire liked to take a walk (or flight once she was able to) through their garden. She greeted the animals and the flowers alike, and sometimes spoke to them about her dreams or thoughts. Often it was Galfore who accompanied her there, though some rarer times also one of her parents.

“Galfore.”

Where and when were you born?

“Even when I was born, the war was already going, although it was not as close to our home. It has been many years ago, and on Tamaran, in the house of my parents.”

“Waefore was my father, he was a known and very respected warrior. Lirfore was my mother, and she was… I think housewife is how you call it on Earth? She did not do a ‘job’.”

“It is not common for tamaraneans to have siblings. I, like many else, am an only child.”

Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people.

“I live in the castle, along with many guards and servants. But they are not truly living with me, so I would say that I live alone. The castle is very tall, with many rooms and floors. The most beautiful part of our castle is the tree that brings life. It grows within the center of the castle, and whenever it reaches the height of another floor, that part of the ground gets removed so that our tree can continue to grow.”

What is your occupation?

“I am currently the Grand Ruler of Tamaran.”

“I am tall. Taller than the average tamaranean, who already is taller than the average earthling. I am one of the few tamaraneans that developed a bigger body - I believe an earthen description would be 'bulky’ - and I have long red hair. My right eye is scarred and not well-functioning anymore, I have green eyes and orange skin. I am commonly wearing tamaranean uniforms.”

“I am currently the Grand Ruler, so I assume it is a high class.”

“I used to have an allergy against metallic chromium, but I must have desensitized myself towards it eventually. And my right eye is not working well, which I would very clearly define as physical weakness as well.”

“I think my focus is on my right hand, although I do not take note of it much.”

“Deep, I am often louder than I intend to. I don’t know what else to say.”

“Perhaps 'X'hal!’ would be the answer you seek here, although it does not feel to me like I am using it unusually often. It is common for our people.”

“I enjoyed it. I have learned a lot, it was much more free and less troubled than the later life.”

“I remember how my father caught me within a fall. I do not remember how it came to be.”

“All that is normal for Tamaran.”

“My father. He was a great warrior, and for a long time I have believed him to be invincible.”

“Outside of the normal arguing, I did not have any difficulties with my parents.”

“It is normal on Tamaran to 'kiss’ with those that teach us how to use our language assimilation. The kissing does not carry the meaning that it does on Earth.”

“I have torn Gordanians apart. It was during the war, and I do not feel any hint of doubts over it being justified, but perhaps that is still counting as an evil act.”

“When I learned of what was happening close to our house.”

“I am not proud of my scarred eye. It is very much a sign of weakness, and as such embarassing, to be unable to see well through it anymore, but I have grown accustomed to it by now.”

“I would change that I have lost Nic. Because she was my world, she was my everything.”

“Returning to find our home destroyed. The frantic searching for her, for any sign of if she perhaps managed to get away… and then finding proof that she did not.”

“I try my best to be polite. And, yes, it does change. Often, at the first meeting, I am taking care to be more intimidating than usually, to assure my dominance, or that of Tamaran as a whole.”

“I would name my wife, but I believe this is about a person that is still alive, yes? Then, Starfire. I have helped raise her, and it is very wonderful to see what she has become by now.”

“Again, Starfire. It would be Myand'r, but as he has passed away a long time ago…”

“It is difficult to make friends as ruler of Tamaran. I am having some people that know me and that I enjoy to spend time with, but I don’t know if I would go as far as to call them friends.”

“We met at a time when I was very angry. She has challenged me, we were shouting at each other and she had also blasted me a few times. I begrudgingly agreed to her taking care of me, and she insisted that I stay longer in recovery than merely to be capable of basic fighting again. She managed to get me to open up again, and I by now see that agreeing to her care was the best choice I have ever made.”

What do you look for in a potential lover?

“I don’t look. I really don’t want any replacement for my Nic.”

“I don’t have any family anymore. I feel close to Starfire still, despite her living on another planet.”

“My patience, perhaps, my acquired knowledge and experience.”

“I rule Tamaran because Starfire has asked me to. I am certain that eventually, Ryand'r will return home and take over.”

What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime?

“I do not have anything I still wish to accomplish.”

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

“Heh. Hopefully, still as well and healthy as today.”

If you could choose, how would you want to die?

“In a battle. While dragging a batch of enemies with me.”

If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left.

“I would inform Starfire, and Wildfire. I would do what I can to calm Ryand'r, and give him more confidence for his duty that would then find him faster than anyone expects.”

What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death?

“For my services for Tamaran.”

“Experienced. Strong. Loyal.”

What three words would others probably use to describe you?

“Big. Perhaps intimidating, and perhaps old.”

If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character? (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice…)

I don’t think I really have any advice I would give him!

"It is good to hear that." Because if she was starting to feel more like she at least knew her way around the place, perhaps even a bit like it was a guest-home for her as long as Earth was in war, the suggestion that Galfore was going to make during or perhaps after breakfast was going to be easier.

They arrived at the dining hall soon, and Ryand'r smiled at them as he was already waiting. Sitting down, Galfore briefly conversed with Ryand'r in tamaranean before addressing Silverwing again as their food was served. "We are having an important meeting later, with the lead of another planet." Not a warring species, so it was unlikely that they would be of any help should Tamaran start a direct open war with the Gordanians at any point, but, it was important to have allies outside of war-matters, too. "Preparations are needed, where you cannot join us." The few days that she had been outside of her room so far, had more or less always been with Galfore or both of them, so Galfore wanted to make clear that that wouldn't always be possible - like today. "We have already arranged for a guard to be your company during the day, to answer any of your questions or tell you more about our home if you wish to hear it."

Tugging her silver-colored hair behind her ears. "Thank you…" Silverwing warmly smiled at the other response, and they exited the room. Walking down the long hallway, making their way to the royal dining hall. She follows closely next to Galfore, doing her best to match his long strides as he walks.

And it took her a moment to respond as she reflected on her months of staying on a foreign planet. Recalling many incidents that occurred along the way. That she cringes at some of it, remembering her feral actions. "A little…" Silverwing knew their people hadn't truly warmed up to her yet. Sometimes, she experiences the cold atmosphere and tense air when she is alone with the people of this planet. But, she doesn't hold it against them as she was the alien on their planet, to begin with. They were respectful enough, due to Galfore and their King's order. And that is just one of the small reasons. Followed by many others, where it will take a long time to truly feel at home, that isn't hers. But to humor the larger man. "…day by day…"

Still not quite sure if this is really “worth” a full headcanon-post, but bringing this one over too.

Kissing for Tamaraneans usually means simply ‘holding the lips together’. There’s no movement to it from their side, it’s literally just the lips staying in contact. It is the only way they learned, so unless they

a) learn of someone how it’s (human-ly) to be done (either by being taught it or by trying it out and learning during the action - the latter would probably require ‘breaks’ during the kiss though to actually explain and talk about it) or b) are like Blackfire and enjoy trying out things, have probably seen someone else do it, and/or go with what the other does without worry or hesitation

they will not immediately reciprocate the kiss in the same way that your muse might do it.

I posted this on my blog before it became a Multi, but here's a repost because I plan to do that (slowly, over time) with all things.

Below the cut, you’ll find a rough summary of what I set for myself as Starfire’s (and Blackfire’s) background story, and maybe a few points here and there that I know of the comic-origin and why I’m not taking certain things into my version.

One: Their mother died shortly after Wildfire was sent away/presumed dead. The TTGo!-comics (the ones following the cartoon) said that both parents fell ill from heartbreak after Blackfire negotiated with the Gordanians and made Star become a slave, but that’s not how I see it. I also have no idea what the ‘other’ comics say about this, so I just made my own decision for that. The parents both suffered from grief, after Wildfire was sent away and presumably killed (not after Starfire left, this happened way earlier). The father recovered (enough to stay alive) whereas the mother actually died to the heartbreak.

Two: Galfore took care of them almost all the time after their mother died. Their father was too busy now, both with his duties as ruler and with trying to not give in to too much grief about the loss of his wife (and son). Galfore had been a prominent part in their education and protection before this already - though Blackfire never really listened to him at all - but after the death of the mother, he spent even more time with the two princesses, though his attempts at getting through to Blackfire were still in vain. Again, no idea how the other comics say this (I don't think Galfore even exists outside of the cartoon and the comics that follow it?), but it’s what I chose.

Three: Starfire decided to leave Tamaran on her own. She wasn’t taken as slave from the planet, but she left it on her own accord, with the intention of exploring different worlds. She wanted to see more of the planets, learn about all those different beings and cultures out there, and she knew that it wouldn’t be possible with guards always at her side or when she would have become ruler. Both Galfore and her father didn’t want her to leave for such a journey and without any protection, but in Blackfire she found a reassuring voice. The problem I have with the comic story of ‘she was taken as slave so that the Gordanians would leave the planet’ is basically based on Betrothed: The future of the planet was at stake, and Starfire agreed to the arranged marriage without further discussion once she knew of the consequences that refusing would have. She was willing to do what’s best for Tamaran, without considering much how she herself felt. She wouldn’t be fighting against capture and escaping her captors if it happened through a deal like that, or at least not immediately. Maybe after years or so, once she felt like it was long enough for the deal to end or when she couldn’t endure it anymore, yes, but not right away only as she was first taken. It would put much too high of a risk to Tamaran if she did; because the Gordanians might just as well have simply returned to Tamaran and continued with the war if she refused to be their slave.

Which leads me to four: When Starfire came to earth, she hadn’t been a slave yet. Yes, she was captured by the Gordanians, and I’ll explain the reason and how it happened later, and yes, she was intended to be their prize and slave.  But she had not experienced any slavery yet. She was still wearing perfectly fine tamaranean clothes, and armor. Now, if she would have already had experienced years (or even only months) as slave before this, I’m pretty certain her clothes would’ve suffered through it. And I’m even more certain that the Gordanians would take any armor, any protection against their new masters away from new slaves as soon as they could, so that they would understand their place better. I also think they wouldn’t have allowed her to keep her clothes, to take away all that reminded her of where she actually belonged. Starfire was intended as a slave, but her escape happened during the transport and thanks to the Titans she managed to not become the slave of the Gordanians in the first place.

Five: The reason behind the capture of Starfire The war between tamaraneans and gordanians was still going on, even when Starfire decided to leave the planet for exploring. But she had told Blackfire about her plan before doing it, and the black-haired princess used the night in which her sister decided to disappear for her own plans. She quietly guided a Gordanian through the castle, into the room of the ruler. When the morning began, the tamaraneans found their ruler dead, and the one that was supposed to become the new ruler was nowhere to be found either. So, as the only remaining family member, Blackfire became the ruler. And she immediately called for a truce in the war with the Gordanians, but instead of them winning control over the planet, she called for a rule that allowed the winner of a war to capture any and all inhabitants of the planet that wouldn’t stick to it during the next weeks as their prizes, and slaves. Starfire was probably the first tamaranean they caught, as if some of the Gordanians had already known of the plans of the black-haired now empress before already. They also told Starfire of the death of her father, because they needed to explain that the rule of capturing prizes had been activated. This rule did not forbid escaping from the captors though, so that’s why Starfire did all she could to try and escape. Which she eventually did, and then she headed to the closest planet to find a way to get rid of her handcuffs. This planet just happened to be earth.

Six: After the death of the previous ruler, Blackfire kept being seen as the new ruler. This is, in a way, already explained in the previous point, and I won’t repeat the information here. But I wanna summarize how the rule of Tamaran continued after Starfire’s escape to earth. Blackfire heard that Starfire hadn’t ended up in captivity/slavery, and that gave her enough anger in her subconsciousness that she couldn’t enjoy having what she had always wanted. Instead, she left Tamaran without informing anyone, to go to earth, after her sister, but she took a few detours on the way, both for fun and for the new plan she made. Once Blackfire had left, Tamaran once again stood without a ruler. But since it wasn’t possible to say just what happened to Blackfire, there was no new ruler chosen. Instead, a group of people gathered (heads of certain parts of the government), and they lead Tamaran all together. It was a very unusual form of reign over Tamaran, and it didn’t really lead to much since they rarely ever came to agreements about things, but they did what they could, always expecting that Blackfire might return someday. And she did. After failing to send her sister to prison and ending up in it herself, Blackfire didn’t stay there for long. She broke out soon, and headed back to Tamaran to try and get over the thought that Starfire was happy. She couldn’t though, and that’s why she then arranged the marriage. As for what happened after the marriage failed, it should be obvious when you have seen the episode ‘Betrothed’. Galfore became the new ruler, and is it still.

This should be mostly all about it, I’m sorry that this got long but I wanted to try and explain my thoughts to it. If you’re actually reading down here, I thank you a lot for taking the time to go through this! I can work with the comic origin if someone prefers that or doesn’t read my headcanons for stuff, but it means a lot when people actually consider my things.

One way to make basically any tamaranean baffled/amazed/touched:

Learn tamaranean. Best if you do it without them knowing (through someone else, through a database or however else you may be able to learn it), and surprise them with a sentence or something once you know a bit - or ask them to teach it to you, which will cause the same reaction but earlier, and maybe with not as much impact as to suddenly hear their language coming from you.

(Obviously, this only works for non-tamaranean people and ones that actually need to learn a language, ones that communicate only mental or through gestures or maybe have an automatic translation of every language or something can’t really do this - maybe in writing though.)

Other species tend to never bother to learn the tamaranean language - a tamaranean (unless handicapped) can easily learn the other’s language, so why should anyone bother to learn theirs. Many species even see it as a ‘lower’ language similar to how they think lowly of the tamaraneans (Troqs as they might then call them); and so it’s a language that almost only tamaraneans can and do actually speak. If you then take the time and effort and learn the language, and not because you need to, but for them; it will mean incredibly much to them - especially if you say something meaningful with it, too.

Headcanon Time - Tamaraneans

Repost of one of my old Headcanon Time - posts!

This time the focus will be the tamaraneans, their abilities and thoughts I have about their body/abilities/system/all of it.

Again, the actual headcanon will be under a cut due to possibly being lengthy.

The default skin color for tamaraneans is of orange-ish color. There are variations, like more towards golden, darker, or more with a tint of yellow to give three examples, but all in all, orange is the default.

Their eye colors vary, even more so than humans do, basically all colors are possible though green is the most common. The eye color is also the color of their energy.

Tamaraneans are taller than humans, and males even more so than females. When born, and for many of the first years, their growth is similar to those of humans, though they normally already are somewhat taller than an average human of same age (about 5 or 6 inch more during the last teen-years).

Their first transformation (the one we’ve seen of Star in the show) is still during the phase that the growth is similar to humans with only little difference in height, and often is the thing that enables a tamaranean to use another part of their powers, like the eye-beams that Starfire was only able to use after it.

Somewhere around the 25~30-th year of their lives (sometimes a bit earlier or later, there is no set timing just like it isn’t for the first transformation), there is another process similar to transformation. It is different from the first time in its ‘symptoms’, there is no way to predict what it will be like until it happens. After that transformation, the females don’t notice much change, whereas a very small amount (5% or so at highest) of the tamaranean males get a sudden growth (and muscle) spurt during that transformaton.

They turn out of a body shape and size similar to Galfore, and it’s said that those that get these changes are ‘better’ tamaranean males than the others.

The hair color of tamaraneans can vary as well, red is by far the most common (around 85~90% are red, the rest is mixed with any color existing, black for example is at maximum found on 3% of the people.

They can, albeit rarely, also be born with hair colors that humans might see as unnatural, like green or white.

Bright colors are the most accepted and liked ones by the population, those with colorless (pale/pastel, or white) or too dark (black or dark-tinted) colors of hair are usually not appreciated as much, or even ignored, hated or seen as outsiders.

While their growth is mostly similar to human ones, the aging isn’t that much. At the beginning, yes, but when getting older, a tamaranean doesn’t get weaker or smaller or lose some of their strength as much as humans do. They tend to be strong, powerful and active for very long in their lives, and only when it gets around 85~90 or so they start to weaken, and then it happens rather drastically like a sudden loss of all starbolt-powers, or one day flight just doesn’t work anymore no matter how joyous they feel.

Usually, the first power a tamaranean child develops is flight. It often even happens without being planned, and sometimes it happens that tamaranean guards have to fly after a young tamaranean baby heading towards the atmosphere if they suddenly started flying when they were left unattended for a moment.

The assimilation of languages is a power that doesn’t need to be developed, it’s always there (unless the tamaranean is handicapped and just not capable of it), but until they get taught how to use what happens when doing the lip-contact, tamaraneans simply cannot process the information of langauge that they get during it.

Control over starbolts only comes after a few years, but the energy itself can already happen before, they technically have the energy in themselves ever since the beginning. Which makes it very dangerous for the female to actually try and have a child, it can happen that the child uses its energy already when still ‘inside’, risking a lot of harm or worse to both the mother and the not-yet-born-child.

There rarely are any families with more than one child, some few have two children but that’s usually it, they do not want to test their luck more than two times. Those who nonetheless have more are seen as very brave, especially the females.

Their strength is also always present whenever the tamaranean is in the right mood.

Descending from feline beings, Tamaraneans can purr. It only happens very rarely, and only if their mind truly has not a single thought of trouble, difficulty or sadness, and it happens without them actually thinking about it or wanting it to happen. It is very common to happen when the tamaranean is still a baby, but as they get older, it gets more and more rare.

Just like their powers, their body and strength are very reliant on their mood. When struck with sadness or similarly troubling emotions, they easily lose their powers (first is flight, then will be starbolts and later strength too), and if the emotions get too strong they can end up being so weak that they can barely move anymore.

There are things that might help, like family (or those close to them) caring for them and doing everything to brighten their mood again, but sometimes, it’s just too bad (or too present and always somehow comes up again immediately) for the tamaranean to recover from it again and they literally die of heartbreak because their system just stops working like it should.

I think that’s all I have to say about it for now. There might someday be a second part or something to this, but right now, that’s all about the tamaraneans.

“Huh,” she answered — just a surprised noise, a huff of voice. Quiet, but enough that she didn’t need to sign. For a few minutes, she stood like that, hands over the warmth until they stopped searing painfully. She wiggled them, experimentally… then leaned her face towards his warm hands. “Can you make food, too?” She’s mostly joking, but her face is deadpan.

It was both good and sad that she appreciated his warmth as much. Good because it felt nice to be able to do something for her even if they only just met, and sad because Galfore couldn't help but think about how someone chooses to leave a living being suffering under too cold temperatures and, by the sounds of it, without free access to food too.

"No," he signed back truthfully to her question, though then took away his hands briefly to check his pockets. Getting out what looked like a stone, Galfore grabbed the Ronel with both hands. He doubted that she could bite through the hard shell of it, so he quickly broke the 'rock' into two to reveal the blue dough-like mass on the inside. Unsure how to sign back while holding the pieces, he whispered instead. "But I have this - it is food of my home. The outside is very sturdy, but if you want, you can try the mass on the inside." He was already emanating a little bit of light and warmth from his hands again, though in order to not make the Ronel heat up too much, not as much as he was offering her before.

Here's an at least decent look of younger Galfore (aka around 25 years old).

This is not my drawing, it’s coming from this picrew maker (doesn't exist anymore apparently, sorry) and I merely did some edits. And I think maybe I should have chosen a different nose? Isn’t quite a fit for Galfore I think. Oh well.

And since I’m making this post, there’s no need to make another one for the things I wanna write down, so find some notes about this tamaranean below the cut.

Galfore never cuts his hair. Most of it is simply long enough to hang back, and his sideburns/chops are taken into braids that hang in front. His beard too has never been cut, but the growth there started later than with the other hair so that’s why it isn’t as long a beard yet.

He also never really combs it much or anything like that

He is cheerful, not hesitating to approach strangers (and actually friendly towards them, which definitely not all tamaraneans are), and always eager to take on another challenge.

He gets along well with other tamaraneans, and often sits (and jokes, drinks, dances or does some other ‘typical group activity’) together with others when there is no training or fighting that needs to be done.

Confident of his skills, he doesn’t hesitate about fights either, and solving things through fights is an option he’d often willingly take as well.

Even when not as much on top of a fight, Galfore would enjoy it - wounds are signs of a challenging fight, and he doesn’t mind them much.

Eager to face any challenge (the more difficult the better), he does tend to end up in dangerous situations - but usually Galfore makes it out just fine, thanks to his strong confidence, fighting skills, and will to keep going.

He wouldn’t hesitate to speak his thoughts, even if that leads to arguments or even fights about something - or to him even being thrown out of a place (which, again, would mean a fight first).

There’s probably more, but this is all I have to write down for now - I still need to write a verse summary. Maybe that’ll come later today.
