Taking a closer look under the moonlight. The Silver Witch was stunned to see King alone, without Galfore or his guard around him. “Y-Your Royal Highness…” The word quickly spilled from her lips again as their eyes met. And seeing the King in a different light, seeing him dressed a little more casual than in his formal royal attire. The young witch couldn’t understand why her face turned slightly warm at the sight of it.
Quickly, she shook her head to rid herself of those silly thoughts and nonsense. And tries her best to regain her composure, but fails miserably. Instead Silverwing froze, her eyes staring into space, as her brain ran through numerous questions. Like, if she should bow or do a curtsy again? Should she speak to him formally or casually, since the King is after Royal working hours, if that makes sense? And where is his guard? And where is Galfore? The big, old soul who often finds many ways to string the empty and awkward silence between them.
Tilting his head to her words, Ryand’r wondered if she could put different meaning into the same phrase another time. He was rather sure that it was a way to refer to him, so doing that again? Was she just surprised to see him? Oh, hopefully it wasn’t something else that she expected a response of him to.
Silverwing seemed... frozen now, just staring, and, her face seemed a little deeper colored than before - though that might just be how her species worked, he didn’t know that much about that - and for some moments, Ryand’r just returned the look in a mix of confusion and uncertainty. In order to stop the silent staring and perhaps also to distract from doing talking, Ryand’r then decided to move a little closer to her and point over to the dancing lights a bit away from them. “Look,” he simply stated, deciding that if she was here, he might as well show her some of the garden’s beauty.

Wildfire couldn't hide a little frown as Ryuji spoke so positively about having food from home. "I... didn't like the tamaranean food that she offered me. I think..." No, showing a friend around the Tower was not the time or place to start about his low thoughts about himself. "I think, I have been too long away from Tamaran to experience it as 'cozy'." Which, he wasn't quite sure he even knew the definition of, but he could assume from how Ryuji used it as describing food from home.
"I could not hide my emotions either." Although it was a thing part of how tamaraneans worked, not actually a real choice to make. "But I think, Raven must do it because..." He thought for a moment how to exactly word it. "I think, if she is too emotional, her powers are very dangerous." Or something like that. Which, sounded horrible to have - only the idea of needing to keep yourself calm all the time to avoid accidentally hurting others. "But," regardless of how or why she liked to use this place, it was a nice one either way. "I like the water-fall."
“I don’t really know much about it either to be honest with you,” He admits, giving an embarrassed sort of chuckle. “I’ve just seen that it’s something really popular on social media - people recording videos of themselves doing all kinds of crazy stunts,”
“That’s good that she’s been able to make Tamaranean food for you,” If nothing else that must have meant she’d either found way to get some ingredients or improvise with things she’d found on work. “Maybe she found a way to improvise with other plants or ingredients…?” He asks, looking over at the plants with some mild curiosity. “Still, it must have been nice to have some food from back home, yeah? Can’t get much cozier than that,”
“Huh, I admire that - I mean I’m a dude who’s all open book with his emotions,” At this, he gives a self deprecating barking laugh. “But I bet it must really take a lot of self control and discipline for her to do that. I honestly think that’s really cool.”

National Chocolate Chip Day
We might not know which came first — the chicken, or the egg — but when it comes to chocolate chips and their namesake cookie, the history is well-documented, and it might not be what you think. Chocolate chips actually came after the chocolate chip cookie, and despite their ubiquity, are likely younger than your grandmother (they were first marketed in 1940!). Legend has it that the chocolate chip cookie was a happy accident, born when baker ran out of baker’s chocolate and opted for semi-sweet instead.
The recipe spread like wildfire, and after a few years of selling their semi-sweet chocolate bars with a chopping tool (for easy chunking of the bar), Nestlé went one step further by introducing chocolate “morsels” to the world. With such a history, and with so much mass appeal, it’s no surprise that this kitchen delight deserves celebration, and that’s why, on May 15, we’ve got National Chocolate Chip Day.
National Chocolate Chip Day timeline
1938 Creation of Chocolate Chips
Ruth Graves Wakefield creates the chocolate-chip cookie by accident.
1963 Going Commercial
Chips Ahoy! hits the shelves in U.S. supermarkets.
1991 A Sensation Like No Other
Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream creates waves of excitement around the globe.
1997 Official State Cookie
The chocolate-chip cookie is named and recognized as the official state cookie of Massachusetts.

Hack The Kitchen: Chocolate For Dinner
How Big Can You Bake It?
Art You Can Eat
Most chefs know how to use tried-and-true flavor combinations to great effect, but the best chefs create new combinations altogether. Try using chocolate chips in a dinner recipe for a real challenge. If you’re looking for a place to start, you might consider trying the mole recipe in the section below!
You probably won’t approach the world record, but National Chocolate Chip Day is the perfect occasion to try your hand at baking the biggest chocolate chip cookie possible.
With a mix of chocolate chips, M&Ms, and some other similarly-sized chocolate candies, you’re well on your way to a kid-friendly edible art project! This can get messy, though, so it’s probably a project best suited for the kitchen!
Why We Love National Chocolate Chip Day
Chocolate Chips Are Everywhere!
The Choices … oh, so many choices!
Big Or Small — We'll Eat Them All!
They might have been created with one purpose in mind, but chocolate chips have branched out since their early days as cookie-fillers. Nowadays, it’s hard to think up a confection that hasn’t donned a chocolate chip cap, whether they be pancakes, muffins, or ice cream sundaes.
The chocolate chips that eventually found their way into the classic chocolate chip cookie are made of semi-sweet chocolate, but in keeping with the times, they now come in a plethora of options — ranging from white chocolate, to dark chocolate, and all the way to caramel — ensuring that, no matter what you’re baking, there’s a place for a chip!
Everyone loves chocolate chip cookies, no matter the size. They could be small (so long as there’s enough to have more than one!), or they could be massive, as in the case of Immaculate Baking’s 40,000 pound Guinness Record breaker, but regardless of size, they’re sure to draw a crowd. The fact that chocolate chips were used to break the record of world’s largest cookie is only a testament to their universality, and it’s safe to say that they’ll always have a space on the shelf of any baker.

Your head was throbbing as you blinked slowly. You could barely make out the room you were in, a bright, blinding lightbulb dangling above your head. Your eyes lingered on the completely spotless table set in front of you. You gritted your teeth as you tried to move your hands, only to struggle against a pair of handcuffs. You groaned and threw your head back in frustration. Your head snapped up at the sound of footsteps behind you. You sat up as straight as you could. Your lips curved into a deep scowl as you bared your teeth when you saw a pair of skeletal-patterned gloves grip your shoulder.
“You feel tense, love,” the man behind you mused.
You bared your teeth as you turned your head. Your breath hitched when you found yourself face-to-face with a skull-masked behemoth. He tilted his head and narrowed his dark, piercing eyes. You couldn’t help but notice how his veins bulged out of his thick muscles as his fingers thrummed against your shoulder.
“I think we both know why you’re here,” he murmured. His hand wrapped around your throat and squeezed it gently.
“Do I at least get to know the name of the man who's about to kill me?” you huffed. The Brit behind you paused for a moment.
“Ghost,” he muttered. You snickered which earned you another squeeze around your throat. “And I won’t have to kill you if you give me the information I’m looking for,” Ghost stated. You scowled as he loosened his grip on your neck. The mysterious man sighed as he rubbed his gloved fingers against your skin, goosebumps rising in its wake.
“I’ll just cut to the chase: where is El Sin Nombre hiding?” Ghost asked, his gravelly voice echoing inside your ears. Your lips parted ever so slightly, a sudden spark flickering deep inside you.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” you hissed. You winced as Ghost suddenly tugged your hair, your scalp burning as his other hand wrapped around your neck.
“Don’t you dare play coy with me,” the large man growled. Your lips curled into a deep frown as the man released your hair.
“I’ll ask you again and make sure to talk extra slow this time: where is El Sin Nombre’s current location?” he husked. You hissed and balled your fists as your head throbbed, your throat burning like a scorching wildfire. You heard his lips smack as he leaned closer, his hot breath breaking through his mask and fanning across your neck.
“Maybe you’ll be more apt to respond to another question: Where the fuck is Valeria Garza?” the man barked. Your eyes widened as your heart sank into the pit of your stomach. You kept your lips sealed as your eyes rolled back, black dots sprinkling your vision. You gasped for air when Ghost finally released your throat. You coughed and sputtered, your hands flinching inside the cuffs to instinctively rub at your sore neck.
“Well?” Ghost's voice was almost a purr as his other hand squeezed your forearm. You swallowed a lump in your throat.
“I don’t know,” you strained. A deep rumble emitted from his throat as he now wrapped both hands around your throat. You gasped. “I’m being honest! I don’t know where she is!” you raised your voice as you shifted your thighs together. The man paused behind you, his hands freezing over your windpipe.
“So you do know who she is?” Ghost drawled. You froze, ice running through your veins as your stomach twisted into a sickening knot. Your heart was pounding as your mind raced through thousands of thoughts in a matter of seconds. You took a deep breath, trying to not focus on the pain that emanated from your neck.
“Quid pro quo,” you rasp. You heard him shift behind you.
“This isn’t a negotiation,” Ghost huffed as he crossed his arms. You whipped your head around.
“Oh, but it can be,” you replied with a husky whisper. His eyes remained unchanged as he watched you, his body still as a statue. “I won’t say anything unless you give me something in return,” you say while gently shifting your thighs together. Ghost looked you up and down, his eyes calculating and stance unmoving. His shoulders eventually lowered before he gave a silent nod. You grinned.
“I'll give you the location of El Sin Nombre...if you can outlast me in sex,” you purr as you arched your back as much as you could. His jaw clicked while he lowered his arms to his side.
"Doesn't sound much like a quid pro quo," Ghost spat. You flinched when he brought his face closer to yours. "Just sounds like you're a desperate whore wanting to get dicked down," he rasped. You licked your lips.
“Oh, I'm just looking out for you. I bet you’re all pent up from this investigation work, right?" you hummed. Ghost shuffled back a little. "All those long, hard hours of labor. Wouldn’t it be nice to just blow off a little steam?” you asked as you slowly licked your plump lips. Ghost’s fists shook at his sides as he turned his back to you. Your smile fell as you sighed.
“Fine, then I guess you won’t get the location then,” you hung your head. A few moments pass as the man behind you paced back and forth. Your eyes flickered when you heard the sound of keys jangling.
Got him.
You felt a small pang of relief when you felt your handcuffs being unlocked. The feeling was short-lived, however, as you feel his large hands shove you against the table. You try to hide your flushed face as Ghost restrains you once more, keeping his hand on your wrists as an extra precaution. You tremble as his hips become flush to yours.
"If you try anything, I won't hesitate to leave you in here for another day. Are we clear?" he husked, the plastered portion of his mask raking against the shell of your ear. You nod.
"Yes," you pant, your shirt riding up your back. Ghost remained silent as he kneaded the flesh of your hips and began to grind his clothed erection against your pussy. You visibly shivered and tried to keep yourself grounded by leaning on your forearms. He grunted as he gently kicked your legs apart and rocked his hips a little faster. You squeaked and pushed your ass back, matching his slow, shallow thrusts with your own. You felt his hot, covered breath puff onto your neck as the fabric of his mask brushed against your skin. He groaned as his hands tightened on your waist.
The man rumbled as he slowly unzipped your pants. You felt heat rise to your face as your panties and pants fell to the floor with an unceremonious thud. Ghost growled as he pushed your face onto the cold surface of the table. You yelped when he slapped your ass and tugged on your hair.
You cried, fingernails gripping into the metal surface of the table. The man grunted and kept thrusting his hips against yours, his hard length brushing against your exposed pussy. You shuddered at the feeling of his fabric gloves kneading the flesh of your ass before he spread your cheeks apart.
“Look at you, all wet for a man you don’t even know,” he chuckled, his deep voice sending ripples of arousal down your spine. “You’re such a needy little whore, aren’t you?” Ghost growled. You lunged forward when you felt a sharp smack laid against your rear again. “Answer me when I speak to you, slut,” he snarled, rubbing the fresh mark on your ass.
“Yes,” you moaned as more slick dribbled from your hole. Another smack crossed your rear.
“'Yes' what?” Ghost demanded, his fingers tracing down to tease your wet folds. You felt heat rush to your face. In any normal circumstance, you would’ve spat in the man’s face and told him to fuck off. But the way his hands were working you made you slip further into a primal hunger.
“Yes, sir,” you answered. He grunted in approval before he slowly pushed one of his thick digits inside your tight entrance.
“Better,” the man stated bluntly, his face close to yours as he started to thrust his finger through your slick walls. Small moans fell from your lips as he fingered your eager pussy, his other hand coming down to tease your clit.
“Look at you squirmin’ around just from my finger,” he breathed against your neck while he curled the rough pad of his digit against your g-spot. You whined and arched your back as he pushed another finger inside, thrusting into you at a faster pace. Your handcuffs clinked against the table, breasts pushing into the surface as he rubbed your clit in tighter circles. Your cunt already felt stretched wide open just from his two thick digits.
“Fuck,” you cursed under your breath as the plaster of his mask scrapped against your cheek.
“You about to cum, love?” Ghost asked. You nodded, only to instantly regret your reply when he quickly pulled his fingers out, a string of your arousal sticking to his pads. You felt something wet tap your cheek, a silent command to open. You parted your lips, allowing him to hook his fingers inside your mouth. You lapped at his fingers, causing him to groan.
“Good girl,” he purred as he rubbed your hip. You heard him unzip his pants. His hard cock slaps and bounces against your ass before he takes it into his free hand. You shivered and whimpered around his fingers as he pressed the juicy tip against your wet hole. You felt some drool drip from the open corner of your mouth as you arched your back. He sighed and squeezed your waist. A silent scream left your mouth as he slipped the fat head of his cock inside your entrance.
“Ah!” you moaned as he inched his way inside your sopping cunt.
“Fuck, you’re tight,” he hissed between gritted teeth. You mewled as his hips became flush with your ass, his cock buried to the hilt inside you. You had no time to adjust or catch your breath before he started to pump his cock in and out of your hole.
“Such a greedy pussy, hugging my cock like this,” he moaned before lightly slapping your ass. Your eyes rolled back as he stretched out your gummy walls. Each delicious drag of his heavy cock drew a wet squelch from your aching heat. The room was filled with the sounds of wet plapping and heavy panting as Ghost slammed his cock in deeper and deeper.
“G-Ghosht,” you slurred around his fingers.
“What is it, sweetheart?” he mocked. You hated how much composure he seemed to have while you were coming undone around his thick shaft.
“F-Faster please,” you whined and arched your back. The man behind you grunted before slipping his fingers out of your wet mouth. You gasped when he wrapped his hands around your thighs and flipped your over, his cock still sheathed inside your cunt. He leaned over, his form massive and overshadowing you as he shoved his whole length back into your sensitive walls.
“No,” he chuckled darkly as he pumped into you with a slow, agonizing pace. You whined and clenched your jaw as he grabbed your hips and thrusted into you at his leisure. He grunted as your walls clenched around him. You bit the inside of your cheek.
His cockhead suddenly kissed against your cervix as he rocked his hips. You couldn’t stop the moan falling from your lips as he roughly clenched his hands onto your flesh. His pupils were blown wide as he stared at how your breasts bounced with each movement. Your legs tightened around his waist as he pounded his cock into you, his balls slapping against your puffy folds.
"F-Fucking hell,” he grunted as his cock twitched inside you. Your mouth opened into a wide ‘O’ as you felt your high approaching, your body tensing in his rough grasp. You heard Ghost groan as he raised your hips and started to pound into your pussy. You cried loudly as he finally lost control, fucking you without any inhibitions.
Your throat grew tight as heat poured into every cell of your body. Ghost emitted a deep growl before he suddenly pulled out. You shuddered as he painted your stomach and breasts with lines of thick, hot cum. You whimpered as he denied you of your own release yet again. He opened his eyes and patted your thighs as he kept his hips against your ass.
“Tell me,” he panted. Your head fell onto the table, your expression one of disapproval.
“No...I-I can keep going,” you croaked. You squeaked as he picked you up and roughly pushed you onto your knees. His dark eyes pierced into yours as he sat down in the chair and spread his legs. Your eyes widened at the sight of his massive, drenched cock.
“If you're not going to tell me, then clean up your mess,” Ghost ordered as his hand came around your head and wrapped around your hair. You raised your brows as you eyed his dick again. The thick tip of his cock hiding beneath his foreskin, every inch of his length covered in your juices.
You gazed into his hickory brown eyes as your lips parted. Ghost gripped your hair even tighter, forcing your entire face to tilt up and look him dead in the eyes.
“Do it and maybe I'll let you ride my cock again...if you have enough energy that is,” he mused, his cockiness dripping from his lips. You swallowed thickly as he pressed your face closer to his soaked shaft. The smell of pungent sex wafts into your nose as you inch forward. He watches you, his fingers scrunching in your hair as you give a few kitten licks to his head. He groaned and arched forward, his cock sinking a bit further into your mouth. Your teeth just barely scraped his shaft as you sucked his length, tasting your own sweet, heady slick.
“Mmm that’s it. Keep goin',” he rumbled as his hand guided your head down his length. You gagged slightly when the head of his cock lodged against the back of your throat. You breathed through your nostrils as you bobbed your head up and down his shaft. Shivers ran down your spine as the heady mixture of your cum trickled down your throat.
You wished you could play with your slick folds and tight cunt, yet all you could do was despair as you strained against the cold cuffs. You felt his cock harden again as you hollow your cheeks, dipping your face all the way to his dark pubic hair.
“S-Shit,” Ghost rasped as his head rolled back, his hips buck forward on their own. His breathing grew ragged as his cock hit the back of your tight throat. Just when you heard him groan softly, he pulled your mouth from his cock. Your brows furrowed in confusion as he heaved above you.
“Tell me,” he demanded again, his voice wavering with the arousal. You panted as you caught your breath, your heartbeat pounding in your ears. You shudder when he brushes his thumb against the corner of your lip, his eyes reflecting a deep tenderness.
“F-Fuck you,” you say, barely above a whisper. Just when you think the hulking man is about to stand up and walk out of the room, he picks you up and sets you down on his lap. Ghost chuckled when he saw how wide your eyes were.
“Guess it's time to see what you're really made of,” he clicked his tongue as he brushed his dripping cockhead against your pussy. You moaned and rested your forehead on his broad shoulder as his hands pushed your hips down, your pussy swallowing his whole cock in one swift motion. Ghost kept a hand on your back and one on your hip as he started to bounce you on his thick length. You whimpered and squeezed his cock as you felt him spread your tight hole open.
“Fuck, that’s it,” he purred and nuzzled your neck. Your pent up energy was buzzing throughout your body as you felt your lower muscles tighten. You could feel your mind slipping further away as pleasure sparked in each nerve ending. You screamed when he raised his mask over his lips and bit down on your shoulder. You couldn't stop the tears that rolled down your cheeks as your breathing grew ragged with each bounce. Ghost licked at the deep bitemark before sucking a hickey onto your neck.
“Cum for me,” he husked. Your head fell back as you cried, your pussy convulsing around his cock.
Your vision became stark white as you desperately bucked against his cock, your body tensing in his hold as your orgasm ripped through you. You couldn’t hear anything but ringing in your ears as pure bliss washed over you. Your bones were jelly as Ghost licked and bite along your neck, each miniscule movement sending you further into a deep abyss of ecstasy. He grunted as he carried you back over to the table, laying you down on your back. Your legs dangled over the edge as he slapped his cock against your swollen clit. You moaned with half-lidded eyes as he pumped his shaft a few more times and let his thick seed spill onto your mound.
Both of you panted as he leaned over you, his cock softening against your soaked folds. Your head was dizzy, the room spinning around you as you found your eyelids starting to droop. He chuckled as he stroked your sides.
"I believe the name of El Sin Nombre's location is in order," Ghost whispered. You dug through your muddled mind before you swallowed thickly.
"C-Cuidad Juárez," you slurred. Ghost grunted before slipping away. He glanced at you as he tucked his cock back into his slacks. He slid your pants and panties back on before literally dragging you onto the chair. The hulking man looked you up and down before turning to walk out. Just as he opened the door, he paused and turned his head.
“Thank you for your cooperation,” Ghost said with a short nod.

‘Chaotic’ US Congress hurtles toward new government shutdown deadline (Reuters) The U.S. Congress on Monday showed no sign of moving forward on spending bills to avoid a partial government shutdown in just five days, as lawmakers entered a new week of political chaos over funding and aid to U.S. allies. Congress has been characterized by Republican brinkmanship and muddled priorities over the past year, more so since Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump undermined a bipartisan border deal in the Senate and now wants aid to U.S. allies extended as loans. “It’s becoming more chaotic,” said Brian Riedl, senior fellow at the right-leaning Manhattan Institute. “The longer Congress is dysfunctional, the further they fall behind on very time-sensitive, high-priority legislation.”
Wild weather hits Northwest with snow even as Midwest gets a taste of summer (AP) February’s end is bringing wild weather to much of the United States, with record heat allowing for golf in Wisconsin and outdoor food trucks in Minnesota, along with an increased fire risk across much of the Great Plains. But blinding snow in the Northwest is blowing eastward, and places like Chicago should see temperatures swinging dramatically from balmy to bitter cold again. A powerful storm started dumping snow that could reach several feet in higher elevations of the West promises a return of winter conditions to the central U.S., where it’s been unseasonably warm. High winds are already blowing, raising the risk of wildfires across the Great Plains.
Peru declares health emergency as dengue outbreak ‘imminent’ (Reuters) Peru declared a health emergency across most of the country on Monday as a heat wave and heavy rains have led to a spike in dengue fever cases. The South American nation’s death toll due to the virus has risen to 32 so far this year, Health Minister Cesar Vasquez said on Monday. Total cases also climbed to 31,300 in the first eight weeks of the year, Vasquez said, up from 24,981 in the first seven weeks. The Peruvian government’s cabinet approved the motion to declare a health emergency on Monday, Vasquez told journalists, hours after he said a dengue outbreak was “imminent.”
Cold cases in Ireland (The Conversation) There have been upwards of 2,000 bog bodies—human remains that have been preserved by the unique environments found in peat bogs—in Europe as a whole, of which 130 have been found in Ireland. The discovery of a bog body can sometimes necessitate a call to the police, given the remarkable state of their preservation. The police will come in to take a look to see if it’s a more recent case, and will often contact archaeologists so as to figure out whose jurisdiction applies to this particular case. This happened in January in Northern Ireland, when a body of a young man was found in Bellaghy and the cops were called. Even after an initial examination. they weren’t sure if this was a cold case or a very, very, very, very cold case. At that point the body was exhumed with all due care so as to preserve possible evidence, although radiocarbon dating soon revealed that this young man died in the Iron Age.
Europe’s sauna marathon (Washington Post) A sharp hiss filled the room as a competitor ladled four cups of water over a hot pile of black sauna rocks. Steam spiraled above our heads. Calm set in—briefly. Three minutes were on the clock. In this small wooden sauna, a team of 14 semi-clad people in costumes squeezed in, including two in wigs and four Zorros. At exactly three minutes, everyone tumbled out, found their robes, and set out in the snow searching for the next stop in the winter race. At the 13th annual European Sauna Marathon teams navigated ice and snow to clock three minutes in 18 different saunas over one afternoon. At this year’s competition in early February, I joined a team to complete the circuit by stripping down to our bathing suits, sweating through the steam and plunging into ice holes at record speeds. One of the competition categories is best sauna experience; participants vote by heat, ambiance, music, snacks and novelty. This year’s winner was a sauna in the sky, equipped with a wood-burning stove lifted 50 feet in the air by an industrial crane while each team sweated inside. When the sauna hit the ground, a charming Estonian cowboy handed out ice-cold root beers as a goodbye. Zany—but sauna-friendly—costumes are critical. Picture a lot of spandex, disco ball helmets and capes. The U.S. military team was represented with camo green shirts and matching face paint.
Security Council ‘perhaps fatally’ undermined by Gaza, Ukraine deadlock, says UN chief (Reuters) United Nations chief Antonio Guterres on Monday deplored how the U.N. Security Council had failed to respond adequately to the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, saying the conflicts had “perhaps fatally” undermined its authority. Speaking at the opening of the U.N. Human Rights Council in Geneva, Guterres said the U.N. Security Council often found itself deadlocked and “unable to act on the most significant peace and security issues of our time”.
31,000 Ukrainian Soldiers Killed in Two Years of War, Zelensky Says (NYT) Some 31,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed since Russia’s full-scale invasion began two years ago, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday, acknowledging for the first time in the war a concrete figure for Ukraine’s toll. Mr. Zelensky’s tally could not be independently verified. It differs sharply from estimates by U.S. officials, who, this past summer, put the losses much higher, saying that close to 70,000 Ukrainians had been killed and 100,000 to 120,000 had been wounded. Russia’s military casualties, the officials said, were about twice as high.
Taliban sets sights on making Afghanistan a global cricketing power (Washington Post) During the Taliban’s first stint in power in the 1990s, its disdain for many sports meant that Kabul’s main stadium drew some of its biggest crowds on the days it was used for public executions. But since seizing control in Kabul a second time in 2021, the Taliban has turned to making Afghanistan into a global cricketing power, with ambitious plans for a state-of-the-art cricket stadium that could host international matches. The men’s national team was already on the rise before the takeover but has continued to thrive under the new regime, defying expectations and scoring stunning upsets in international play. Privately funded cricket academies have seen a surge in the number of new players. Cricket’s appeal to the Taliban may be partly rooted in the sport’s long-standing popularity in ethnic Pashtun communities, where the Taliban has traditionally drawn its strongest support. But as cricket’s reach expands across ethnic lines, the regime may also view the sport as useful. “Cricket brings the country together,” said Abdul Ghafar Farooq, a spokesman for the Taliban’s Ministry of Vice and Virtue.
Living outside China has become more like living inside China (Economist) Song Xia does not want her real name used. The young professional is neither a dissident nor an activist, yet she fears the watchful eyes of the Chinese state. After she left Shanghai to work in the Netherlands in 2012 she kept in touch with friends on WeChat, a Chinese app. Then she realised some of her messages were being censored. Even in her new country she is careful what she says in public and only goes to places she considers “safe”—those where no members of the Chinese Communist Party are present. Ms Song is typical of many Chinese who have moved to the West in recent years: well-educated and wealthy, unlike the labourers who dominated earlier emigrant communities. The number of Chinese abroad has doubled since 1990. It has risen particularly fast since 2000. The pandemic heightened the desire of many members of the elite to leave, as their resentment grew of covid-related controls and the party’s ever-tightening restrictions on freedom of expression. There are about 10.5m people living outside China who are, or once were, Chinese citizens. The party has the ability to influence even those who no longer have a Chinese passport. The growing influence of the party on Chinese abroad takes three overlapping forms: direct intimidation of potential critics, pro-party propaganda aimed at the diaspora, and pressure on people to censor themselves when discussing their native country.
Japan's new births fall to record low in 2023 as demographic woes deepen (Reuters) The number of babies born in Japan fell for an eighth straight year to a fresh record low in 2023, preliminary government data showed on Tuesday, underscoring the daunting task the country faces in trying to stem depopulation. The number of births fell 5.1% from a year earlier to 758,631, while the number of marriages slid 5.9% to 489,281 -- the first time in 90 years the number fell below 500,000—foreboding a further decline in the population as out-of-wedlock births are rare in Japan. Asked about the latest data, Japan's top government spokesperson said the government will take "unprecedented steps" to cope with the declining birthrate, such as expanding childcare and promoting wage hikes for younger workers.
Palestinian Authority Shake-Up (1440) Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh and his government resigned yesterday amid calls for reform from the US and Middle East nations. The overhaul is part of the conditions the US and countries, including Saudi Arabia, are seeking before the Palestinian Authority, which administers the West Bank, can play a potential role in governing Gaza after the Israel-Hamas war. Israel has said it won’t accept a Palestinian Authority rule over Gaza. The Palestinian Authority was originally created as an interim body under a 1993 peace agreement between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization. It was granted limited rule over parts of the West Bank and Gaza and considered a path for a potential two-state solution. However, since 2005, the governing body has been under Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, 88, and his Fatah party. Nearly 90% of Palestinians have said they want Abbas to resign, viewing his regime as authoritarian and corrupt.
Hard choices for Gaza’s doctors (Washington Post) Even after four months of the most grueling and gruesome work of his life, the anesthesiologist wanted to stay at his post at Nasser Hospital last month when the Israeli tanks closed in. But doctors, he fretted, face one of three fates in wartime Gaza: displacement, detention or death. He’d seen Israeli forces disappear doctors during raids on the enclave’s besieged and collapsing hospitals. He feared being accused of supporting Hamas, being made to strip and sit blindfolded, seeing photos of the humiliation shared online. He’d heard about the abuse Palestinians endured in Israel’s secretive detention sites for Gazans. But the anesthesiologist had six children and a large extended family in Rafah that relied on him. So it was with a heavy heart, he said, that he fled the hospital on Jan. 26 and joined the Gaza Strip’s growing cadre of displaced medical workers.
Nigeria's economy (BBC) Nigeria is currently experiencing its worst economic crisis in a generation, forcing families across the country to ration their food. Trade unions held protests on Tuesday, calling on the government to do more against the ballooning cost of living. Overall, annual inflation, is now close to 30% and 35% for food alone. Widely shared social media videos indicate how some are reducing portion sizes. One clip shows a woman cutting a fish into nine pieces rather than the average four to five. She is heard saying her goal is to ensure her family can at least eat some fish twice a week. Inflation has soared in many countries, but President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to remodel the economy have also added to the burden. On the day he was sworn in nine months ago, the new president announced that a long-standing fuel subsidy would be ending. Mr Tinubu also ended the policy of pegging the price of the currency, the naira, to the US dollar. Since then, its value has plunged by more than two-thirds. That means the price of all imported products go up.

"Thank you. I hope so, too." Because if there was one thing he was remembering fondly of his home world - not counting his family, of course - it was the beauty of the nature. And the idea of having to go back to Tamaran without that being at least potentially returning at some point would only make him dread going back even more.
Some plants were on Earth longer than the humans? Perhaps that was how it always was - it might make sense and perhaps was that case on Tamaran too - but it was something new to hear for Wildfire. "That is impressive! Nature is truly very fascinating."
The boy wasn't going to get into all the details of that last adventure, but it hadn't spoiled his opinion of other aliens even a little. Every race was different, he would never hold the actions of one against another. He didn't believe in judging a book by its cover, or pre-established opinions.
But he did frown a bit hearing that the cause for the state of the other planet was war. He had been hoping that wasn't the case. But he was glad the other still had faith his world would return to some semblance of its former glory. "If I know one thing for certain, it's that things always find a way. Even here on Earth there are plants that have been around for longer than humans, and there's evidence to suggest they've given rise to millions of other species. And that's saying something given how our world used to be mostly ice at one point."

Victoria Ruddy paced in front of a pickup truck in the parking lot of a Bi-Mart discount store in Sunnyside, a farming town in the Yakima Valley, a vast semi-arid desert just east of the Cascades and the heart of Washington’s agricultural industry. It was barely 8 a.m., and the temperature was already in the 80s. Heat radiated off dirty concrete, mixing with gritty wildfire smoke to form an oppressive haze. About two dozen students, farmworkers and United Farm Workers Union staff stood nearby, loading gear into the truck. It was Aug. 12, 2021, and the second major record-shattering heat wave of the year had just struck the Pacific Northwest.
Over the next few days, temperatures crept into the triple digits. In Oregon, emergency rules to protect farmworkers go into effect when the heat index reaches 90 degrees Fahrenheit. In California, additional rules are triggered at 95 degrees. But in Washington, which is second only to California in producing labor-intensive crops like apples, asparagus, hops and berries, the mercury has to hit 100 before employers are required to provide shade or guarantee rest breaks. In an industry notorious for not complying with labor standards and workers’ rights statutes, Ruddy, the UFW’s regional director for the Pacific Northwest, was skeptical that those rules would be enforced. So she and the others had organized a heat caravan: They would visit farms around Sunnyside to hand out water, Gatorade, KN95 masks and information on avoiding heat-related illnesses.
Before they left, everyone gathered around the truck. It was now 85 degrees, and the ice in a large blue bucket in the back of the pickup had already started to melt. Ruddy looked out at the anxious, excited crowd, and read three names from a list.
“Ricardo Sotelo,” Ruddy said, naming a farmworker who died picking blueberries in Washington on June 30, 2015, in 107-degree heat. “Presente,” the crowd responded, their voices muffled by their face masks.
“Sebastian Francisco Perez,” she said, speaking more forcefully now, referring to a farmworker who died in Oregon on June 26, the day after his 38th birthday, while moving irrigation lines during the previous heat wave. “Presente,” the crowd called back, louder, angrier.
“Florencio Gueta Vargas,” Ruddy yelled, her voice firm and clear.
“Presente!” the crowd shouted, their calls reaching a crescendo.
Gueta Vargas, a married father of six, had died only two weeks earlier outside the nearby city of Toppenish, under the kind of conditions climate scientists predict will become more common and extreme. He woke around 3:30 a.m. as usual, made coffee with cinnamon, pocketed the fresh tortillas his wife had made him, and drove to his job at Virgil Gamache Farms. He tended rows of hops, a crop notorious among farmworkers for being hard to work in high temperatures.
Hops are fast-growing leafy vines with pinecone-shaped buds, which contain a resin that gives beer its distinctive hazy citrus flavor. It’s a lucrative crop in the beer-obsessed Northwest; the Yakima Valley alone produces around three-quarters of the nation’s hops. But the plants also trap the sun’s warmth and humidity, raising the heat index by several degrees. There’s scant shade during the hottest part of the day, when the rows turn into sticky, humid tunnels of heat.
On July 29 — when almost all of eastern Washington was under a National Weather Service heat advisory — Gueta Vargas collapsed toward the end of his shift and died. The official cause was atherosclerotic disease, or problems with his arteries, but the coroner noted that environmental conditions were a contributing factor; it was around 101 degrees when he died.

Cutting Edge ~ Nathan MacKinnon Ch. 9
Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well! Sorry this chapter took forever! But I hope you enjoy it! I have the rest of the series planned out, and it should be about 6 more chapters. I’m excited about where it is going and I hope you are too! Stay healthy, safe, and enjoy! Let me know what you think! Tags are open!
Prologue Ch.1 Ch.2 Ch.3 Ch.4 Ch.5 Ch.6 Ch.7 Ch.8
The following Wednesday you were at practice. Bednar had the team gathered in a semi-circle as he informed them of the upcoming schedule before the holidays. “Oh and Coach Y/L/N. In case you didn’t know, we are playing Anaheim this Sunday,” Bednar turned back toward you.
“Oh yay!” you said, clapping your hands together quickly. You couldn’t help but be excited to see some of your friends on the Ducks again. As soon as you said that though, you had many unapproving looks shot at you from the team. “I mean, oh no?”
“Who are you really rooting for Coach?” Tyson called out.
“You guys, obviously,” you stated flippantly. “I know how they skate and I know how their skating coach skates so we got this.” Bednar chuckled.
“I was going to ask if there is anything we should know about your time with the team?” he asked, and you looked at him questioningly.
“No?” you said, confused at where he was going with this.
“Just asking. Hockey players make comments and I would like for us to be prepared if they say anything about you,” he explained.
“Oh,” you said, and thought for a second. “To be honest, I was mostly just around them for a quick showcase, charity events, or galas that they had. I have a few good friends from the team but I don’t think they would really say anything. I was more like everyone’s little sister when I was with them,” you said and everyone nodded. “Oh! If you hear the term ‘little dove’, that’s me.”
“Little dove?” Gabe asked, and you shrugged.
“A few called me little duck at first. But then after a showcase at one of their events I had performed in this greyish-pink dress and Getzlaf started to call me little dove. The rest of the team just followed along,” you explained. You caught eyes with Nate, and he smiled softly. You had just told him about that nickname last week when he saw a comment on your Instagram post from Hampus Lindholm. You had posted a funny picture from practice of Tyson laying flat on the ice and you doubled over laughing at him because he had seemingly tripped over nothing. You accompanied it with a caption of how the team always seems to brighten your day with a laughing emoji. Hampus commented “We feel so betrayed little dove.”
After practice that day, Nate was over at your apartment after having gone to the store to get stuff for dinner. You wanted to cook that night, so he thought it was only fair if he bought the groceries. Since the two of you had started dating, you tended to stay in at his or your place, not wanting to fuel rumors. A picture of the two of you dancing at the gala was posted recently, the media team not thinking much of it, but oh boy did it spread like wildfire. While your fans thought it was cute, Nate’s fans were a mix. You were starting to see how vicious some hockey fans could be.
You were finishing the shrimp for shrimp scampi when Nate came up behind you and wrapped his arms around your waist. “I have a question,” he mumbled into the hair at the top of your head. You hummed, encouraging him to go on. “What do you want for Christmas?” he asked. You smiled, forgetting that it was already December.
“Nothing,” you said simply.
“There has to be something,” Nate stole a shrimp from the pan and you batted his hand away. He chuckled and kissed your cheek. You finished the dish, turned off the stove, and turned to face him.
“Well, there is something,” you smiled up at him. Nate smiled back at you, raising his eyebrow in question. “A unicorn.” Nate’s face fell and you couldn’t help but laugh.
“Seriously Y/N?”
“Actually, in all seriousness, I want a unicorn that poops rainbows. But I know those are hard to find,” you laughed as Nate rolled his eyes at you. He maneuvered you away from the stove and lifted you onto the counter, standing in between your legs.
“Why are you being difficult?” Nate asked, humor in his voice.
“Well what do you want for Christmas?” you asked, smiling widely at him. Nate shrugged.
“I don’t need anything,” he said.
“It’s not about what you need. What do you want?”
“Nothing.” Nate smiled mockingly at you.
“You can’t say nothing and expect me to tell you something!” You laughed. The conversation went on like this for another 10 minutes, neither one of you giving in. You kept up with wanting a unicorn, much to Nate’s dismay. He knew he wasn’t the most romantic, and really wanted to get this right with you. Since he wouldn’t tell you anything though, you didn’t budge either. It seemed like you had both met your match when it came to stubbornness.
A while later, Nate had just got out of the shower and you were finishing putting the dishes away from dinner. As you turned your lights off and made sure your front door was locked, you looked out the window and immediately smiled. It was snowing. Running into your bedroom, you started to grab your big coat and a beanie, shoving your feet into a pair of boots. “Going somewhere?” Nate asked as he walked out of the bathroom, highly confused.
“It’s snowing outside! Let’s go!” you squealed, throwing his shirt and sweatshirt at him.
“This isn’t the first time it’s snowed since you’ve been here Y/N,” Nate chuckled, but continued to get dressed to go outside.
“Yes, but it usually happens when I’m sleeping or at the rink! I haven’t been out while it’s snowing yet!” You bounced around your room, continuing to check the window to make sure snow was still falling.
“It’s just snow,” Nate said, finally finishing putting his shoes on. You grabbed his hand and pulled him to your front door.
“Yes, but I’m from Southern California! I always had to drive to the snow. I want to go outside while it’s coming down actually!” You grabbed your keys and left your apartment. Nate allowed you to drag him along, silently amused at your excitement. Luckily for the two of you, your apartment building had a secluded courtyard in the middle so you didn’t have to go out front to the main street. This allowed Nate and you not to worry about being seen together this late at night. That would definitely be the source of more speculation.
Once outside, you giggled with excitement and ran to the middle of the empty courtyard. Looking up toward the sky, you stuck your tongue out to catch the snow as it came down. Nate walked up beside you and grabbed your hand. You took out your phone and had Nate take a picture of the two of you, realizing you really didn’t have any. What better way to commemorate your first snow in Colorado than with Nate? After spinning around all excited for a moment, you walked back over to Nate and wrapped your arms around him, burying your face into his sweatshirt as your nose was starting to freeze. Nate held you close to him, looking down and tilting your chin up so you met his eyes. He chuckled softly at your red cheeks and nose, leaning down and fitting his lips to yours. The two of you stood there for a moment, lost in a blissful bubble you had created. You pulled away slightly and shivered, the cold starting to get to you. Nate smiled softly and kissed your forehead. “Let’s get you inside before you freeze,” he muttered, taking your hand and leading you back up to your apartment. Once back in your apartment and in your pajamas, you crawled into bed and over to Nate who was already laying down looking through his phone. You cuddled into his side and weaved your legs with his.
“Jesus babe! Your feet are freezing!” he jumped slightly, putting his phone down. You laughed but didn’t move.
“Poor circulation from tying my skates too tight over the years. Sorry,” you giggled. Nate shook his head, but didn’t bother moving. If being with you meant dealing with cold feet, he didn’t think that was a bad price to pay.

Sunday had arrived and it brought with it the Ducks. You were currently standing by the bench with the other coaches as the team was warming up. You had just finished talking with Bradie Tennell, the skating coach for the Ducks. The two of you were on the Olympic team together and had become good friends. She let you know that the team had been good to her so far, and that made you happy. You were leaning against the board when Ryan Getzlaf skated up to you.
“How are they treating you, little dove?” he asked, and you smiled at the familiarity of the name. The question didn’t surprise you; he had always been protective. You were young and talented when you first started to skate in Anaheim, and some of the rookies took interest in you. Being so focused on making the Olympic team though, you barley noticed. The captain announced one practice that you were off limits, and they complied. After that it seemed the whole team had become extra protective of you.
“Good! They’re a good group. I like it here,” you answered honestly. He nodded and looked back out over the ice.
“Is that why it looks like I’m about to get in a fight with 29 tonight?” Ryan smirked at you. You found Nate on the ice and smiled at him, and the tension in his jaw seemed to release as he went back to what he was doing. Nate knew you were friends with the Ducks and figured some may go talk to you; but he couldn’t help but feel a twinge of jealousy that they could talk to you so openly and no one would question it while the two of you had to date secretly.
“He’s just protective like you are,” you tried to laugh it off, but Ryan gave you a look that said you were not fooling him. You smiled sweetly and he shook his head.
“Whatever you say little dove,” Ryan said and skated off.
“Be nice!” you yelled after him and he let out a laugh.
“Will you stop fraternizing with the enemy Coach?” Tyson asked skating into the box.
“Just for you Tyson,” you winked at him.
Later, the third period had just began and the teams were tied. The whole game had been a back and forth with scoring. A few times when one of the Ducks would skate by, they would say hi, wave, or wink at you. The winking seemed to happen only when Nate was on the bench, and you were wondering if Ryan had said anything. You needed to work on being a better liar.
Nate was on the ice when Hampus Lindholm skated by before a face off. “You know, we were all sad when Y/N left us to come here. I would think she’s a good coach,” Hampus judged Nate’s reaction. Nate side-eyed him, but didn’t say anything. “She’s cute too,” Hampus pushed a bit further. The Ducks’ captain had said that chirping about Y/N was off limits, but he had also said he felt it may get under MacKinnon’s skin. When you talked about being friends with some of the Ducks, Hampus was one of them. He didn’t want to be disrespectful toward you, but he thought it would be fun to see if he could push the center’s buttons. Nate took a deep breath and continued to ignore him. “You know she was my date to a charity event once,” Hampus continued. Nate did know this; you had told him you went as friends since you were going to the charity also. He knew it was nothing, he knew Lindholm was trying to dig at him, but that doesn’t mean that it didn’t bother him. When the puck was dropped, Nate threw himself into the defenseman, promptly flattening him out on the ice.
Nothing was called and the play kept going, but you stood behind the bench with wide eyes. What had just happened? You were so distracted in your own thoughts that you hadn’t realized the buzzard had gone off, signaling an Avs’ goal. Turning your attention back to the team celebrating at the end of the ice, you saw them all gathering around Nate. Of course you had missed it. That was the only score of the third period, the Avs winning 3-2.
After the game and interviews were done, you had said bye to some of the guys and Bradie. Nate had asked if you wanted to stay at his place that night, so you made your way to his apartment. You texted him that you were there, and he told you the front was unlocked. Upon walking into his apartment, he called you over to the couch where he was laying down and pulled you down on top of him. You gave him a quick kiss, then settled your chin on his chest, looking at him expectantly. “So,” you started. Nate knew where the conversation was going.
“You really did just go to the charity thing with Lindholm as friends, right?” he asked, furrowing his brow a little.
“Yeah, that’s all it was. Why?”
“He said you were his date,” Nate shrugged and started to play with your hair, twisting and untwisting a strand around his finger.
“As friends. I have no feelings for him whatsoever,” you explained, then realized why he was asking you to clarify. “Is that why you hit him so hard during the game?” Nate averted his eyes from you, slightly ashamed he let what Lindholm had said get to him. You giggled, knowing that was the issue. “Nate, babe. There was nothing there, nor will there every be anything there. And that goes for the rest of everyone. Don’t let it get to you okay,” you said, kissing him softly. You pulled away and rested your palm against his cheek. “Plus, he’s not my type.” That perked Nate right up.
“So, what is your type?” he wrapped his arms around you with a smirk.
“Big, burly, 6-foot Canadians with blue eyes who are just as stubborn as I am,” you smirked at him. Nate rolled his eyes, but laughed and pulled you in for another kiss. He flipped the two of you so that your back was to the couch now with him hovering over you. Nate started placing quick kisses all over your face and you giggled as his stubble tickled your neck. The two of you stayed like that for a while longer before ordering take out and getting ready for bed.
~ ~ ~
The holidays fast approached, and you were thankful the team had four days off for Christmas. You had already booked a flight back home for the morning of Christmas Eve, and would be flying back to Denver on the morning of the 26th. For you, going home was easy as it was only a two in a half hour flight. You had booked it when you first got the schedule back in September. You were starting to feel bad that not everyone on the team would be going home though, Nate included. If you had known that you would have been in any sort of relationship, you may have opted to stay as well. When you brought this up to Nate, he told you not to worry about it, and that he would even take you and pick you up from the airport.
On the 23rd, you and Nate had just got back to your apartment after having dinner with everyone who was still in town. Since there were multiple people going, you figured nothing would come of it to be seen out with Nate in public. The two of you were still keeping your relationship from mostly everyone on the team, so it was easy to act like you had been at practice. To anyone who didn’t know, it just looked like you two were good friends.
You showered and put your pajamas on, setting out your present for Nate on the coffee table and finding a movie to watch while he showered. You had settled on watching a Hallmark Christmas movie, because who doesn’t secretly love the cheesiness of it all? Nate sat down next to you on the couch and pulled you into his side. Placing a blanket over the both of you, you settled into watching the movie, pointedly trying to ignore the Christmas gift bag he had set down on the coffee table next to your gift to him.
After the movie, you turned the tv off and just enjoyed being in each other’s company. The only lights on were the Christmas lights from the fake tree you had set up, and other Christmas lights you had decorated with. Your apartment looked a bit like Christmas exploded in it, but it made you happy and Nate laugh. You made some hot chocolate, and sat back down facing Nate. Handing him his, you took a sip and set your mug down on the coffee table, in turn picking up your gift to him. “Present time!” you sang, handing him the gift. You weren’t sure what he would think of it, realizing it was difficult to buy for someone who seemingly had everything he wanted.
Nate unwrapped the gift, and smiled upon taking it out of the box. It was a wooden watch, one that you had found on Etsy. It was a dark stained wood that you had engraved on the back of the watch face. As Nate turned it over in his hands, he smiled wider and chuckled. You were able to convince the designer to engrave a hockey skate and a figure skate. Above the skates read “Merry Christmas” with the year, and both your initials. “I know you already have a watch, but I thought the wood was neat and I was excited when the person said they could engrave the skates on it, and…” you were cut off from your rambling by Nate pulling you into a sweet kiss.
“It’s perfect Y/N. Thank you,” he whispered, placing a kiss on your forehead and admiring the thoughtful gift. He set it down and handed you the gift bag. You smiled while you took the tissue paper off the top, feeling fabric at the bottom of the bag and took it out. You laughed, seeing the familiar burgundy and blue. Holding it out in front of you, you saw the 29 on the arm, turning it around to see ‘MacKinnon’ on the back. While you unfolded it though, a smaller box fell into your lap. “I know you can’t wear it to games, but I wanted to get you my jersey,” Nate explained as you slipped it on over your pajama top.
“Thank you,” you said, blushing slightly and turning your attention to the box. Opening it up, you saw the most beautiful, small and delicate figure skate charm you had even seen. It was gold with diamonds encrusted into it. Taking it out of the box, you noticed it was attached to a delicate gold chain as a necklace. You turned it over in your hand, feeling something on the back of the charm. You giggled, noticing a ‘29’ engraved onto the back. “Nate, it’s beautiful.”
“I thought you could at least wear my number to games this way. If you don’t like it we can go get you something else,” Nate looked at you unsure, and you shook your head.
“Help me put it on?” you asked, and turned around. Nate deftly clasped the necklace together. “How does it look?”
“Perfect,” he said, and you grinned at him.
“I love it, thank you,” you said, and leaned in to kiss him. What was an innocent gesture quickly turned heated as Nate pulled you onto his lap, you straddling him. Your fingers carded through the hair at the nape of his neck as his hands pushed the hem of the jersey and your pajama shirt up, gripping your hips. You pulled back after some time, needing to take a breath and maneuvered yourself to where you were sitting in Nate’s lap and leaned your head on his shoulder. Nate chuckled, kissing your forehead.
“Maybe it’s a good thing you can’t wear my jersey to games. I don’t think I could concentrate,” he mumbled. You giggled and pecked his neck, the both of you settling back down.
The following morning Nate drove you to the airport. Thankful for his tinted windows, you kissed him quickly before anyone would figure out who the both of you were and grabbed your bags. “Merry Christmas Nate,” you said, slipping out of the car.
“Let me know when you get home, okay?” he said with a soft smile, and you felt your heart tug at the thought of leaving him for a few days. It struck you that this was the first time since September you wouldn’t be around him almost every day.
“I will,” you returned his smile. Nate quickly reached over the center counsel for your hand, bringing it up to his lips.
“Merry Christmas Y/N,” he said lightly, realizing the same thing you were. You grabbed your bags and smiled, waving as you shut the door and headed into the airport. Nate made sure you were inside the building before he took off, not being bothered by the honks he was receiving from annoyed holiday travelers.

Taken from his own sideblog, a thing answered from this meme!
Hhhhhh. Disappointed them once again. Letting out a long sigh, his face sunk deeper into his hands as his body slumped along with it. Wildfire was sitting on the throne - his throne, even though it still very much didn’t feel like that and might not be it for much longer anymore - and tried to find out what he did wrong. He really tried, he really wanted to be a good ruler. Trying to keep a cheerful, or at least calm face when watching the tamaranean traditions that he simply could not agree with, trying to decide things how a true tamaranean would; he did all he could to follow in his father’s, and Galfore’s, footsteps. But what exactly did that bring?
Hesitation, on his side. Delayed decisions because of that, and eventually, terrible consequences for the warriors when the Gordanians once more started a war with Tamaran, and those delayed decisions lead them into wrong ways or didn’t stop them early enough. Tamaran was in a terrible state, all because of him, and Wildfire lost all drive to keep trying when the Gordanians brought the fight to the castle. There were fights all around, the remaining warriors of the royal guard had brought their ruler into the throneroom as they saw it as the room easiest to defend properly, but Wildfire wasn’t so sure if he even wanted that anymore. Tamaran had suffered enough because of his bad leadership, and now even the non-warrior people were attacked and hurt, or worse, by those wanting to make the planet their own. He wanted to get up and surrender himself to the Gordanians, to spare at least the few remaining tamaraneans - though if he was honest he had considered this right from the beginning of the war - but the royal guards insisted that it’s not the tamaranean way and that a true tamaranean fought until the end. This pretty much looked like the end though, so Wildfire got up now, not letting himself be stopped by the guard trying to stop him from walking to the blocked door.
This time, he wasn’t going to listen. He wasn’t going to stop because it wasn’t the tamaranean way, or because of it not being what his parents would have done - even what Starfire would do, if she would know of any of this happening. At least she was safe, even if he had to tell half-truths during their latest talks; Earth was protected by many heroes and the Gordanians wouldn’t dare to go there. No, this time, he had to do what he saw as the only remaining option, and so he ordered the guards to remove the barricades of the door. They insisted not to do so, but he kept repeating the order until they did, and Wildfire, crowned head looking straightforward while he swallowed all fear and hesitation he felt, walked out into the hallway. The Gordanians weren’t far away anymore going by the noises of the fights, and Wildfire kept approaching the sounds. As soon as the Gordanians spotted the ruler, only few of them remained to hold the wounded warriors in check while more of them ran towards him, weapons aimed while Wildfire dropped to his knees, and lowered his head to focus his gaze onto the ground. “I surrender!” He shouted in the Gordanian language. At least it still was of use that he worked so long on speaking it somewhat fluently. “Do all you want, to me! You can rule! Just, spare the tamaraneans!” One of the wounded warriors in the distance shouted something tamaranean - clearly trying to tell Wildfire that he shouldn’t surrender, that he can’t give that satisfaction to the Gordanians - but he didn’t come far in his words, and Wildfire winced as he heard the warrior, now a limp body, drop to the ground. The Gordanians had surrounded him, all still with weapons pointed at him, and for a few moments he hoped that they were considering his suggestion. Until he felt a spike dig through his armor, and then another one.
At least he wouldn’t be disappointing them more times anymore now.
[[And since I liked what I wrote back then, and it kinda fits to this too, here’s a link to a post about what Wildfire imagines to be good and bad outcomes on both Earth and Tamaran]]

The way she worded that question stung, but it also made him realize that now she might think that it were the Shallas that were warring with his home. "They... no, they don't... exist anymore. But they were not our opponents in war - I believe those still exist, although Kori has told me that there is no war going on anymore currently." To make it more clear how his story was, he went back to the point of being sent back. "When I was sent away from our home planet, the ship I was in got destroyed. I..." He paused, it took a bit to talk about all of this and think back to how overwhelmed with so many emotions he was back then, "I drifted through space for a time, thinking I was going to find my end there. The capsule I was in crashed onto a planet eventually, and it were the Shallas that found me. We could not understand each other, and as they were... so big perhaps," he gestured a size with both of his hands, no bigger than maybe 8 inches, "and I already was much taller then, it was certainly a risk for them to take me in, but they did anyway." Again he was silent for a little bit. "They cared for me, I found a new home and learned a lot from them. But..." He took a deep breath and his hands involuntarily curled to fists, this being perhaps the worst memory he had. "Then, one day I returned to their village from a task... and..." Wildfire's eyes squeezed shut, as if trying to avoid seeing it in his mind again. "And everything, and everyone of them, was destroyed. Because someone was looking for me."
It had taken a lot, and he may be shaking slightly from not only getting the memory back up but also telling it; but at least he said it. It was definitely better than running away from it, especially if running away from it meant not answering or explaining himself to Irma, she didn't deserve to be left with confusion. "I am sorry that I ran. It is very painful to relive these memories, and when I saw a plush toy that resembled them so well... everything came back up too intensely."
All Irma was focused on was the part where he said "royal family." So that means that he came from a royal family? That is what Irma got out of that little part of his story. To be honest, she found that to be cool but anyway..time to have a serious moment. The brunette pretty much heard what he was talking about though and she didn't know much about his past. To be honest, she never really thought to ask him about it. Well, at least she knows not to go near that particular plushie again while being with him.
"So, do these "Shallas" still exist? Have they been defeated?"

You wouldn’t deny, you felt extremely excited while standing in the large room, vanity lights in classic Vegas style were lit up above the long vanity table, the standing hanging rack had all your costumes on it and while your name wasn’t in plaque it was hastily written on a taped up piece of paper. These people actually considered you a soloist….only by definition considering it was your last week...But still, it was exciting!
Taking a seat in the cushioned chair you got to work on your makeup to begin with, it was Vegas, and considering this was a VIP party you figured it would be okay to really go all out cutcrease makeup, sharp wings and eyelashes that could be mistook for fans, the whole nine yards. You had originally gone to skip a song on your phone, what you hadn’t expected was paragraph long message from the last person on your mind.
Seriously? No seriously…? Annoyance twisted and snapped in your veins like a wildfire, as you continuously reread the text, did Seulgi ever truly know you at all? Where was this message when your relationship was toxic with Jungkook? Where was she when Hanjae broke into your apartment? Where was she when you completely ruined your first ever soloist performance? Where was she when you actually needed her?
You hadn’t even realized your hands were trembling or heard the knock on the door until the familiar voice of Jimin interrupted you, “Y/n! Y/n? Hey, you’re on in ten, why aren’t you dressed?”
Your gaze snapped from your phone to the blonde before you rubbed your forehead, you didn’t have time for her issues right now, it would just have to wait. Standing up you pressed your lips together before sighing, “Sorry, Seulgi just sent me a paragraph text,” You pulled the oversized shirt over your head as you walked over to the costume rack, you already had your lingerie set underneath but it was always more comfortable to get ready in loose clothing, “Out of the blue! Seriously, what is her problem?”
You could hear Jimin snort behind you in amusement as you pushed your shorts down, looking over your shoulder with an ungrateful expression to which he straightened up at, “Ah sorry. Honestly? She’s probably just jealous...I mean, think about it, you were chosen to be trained by the most popular stripper in Cherry Bomb when you had no intention of even becoming a stripper at all, you were chosen to become a temporary soloist and now you made it on the list for Seasonella as a soloist and she didn’t even make the cut at all.”
You stopped dead in your tracks, your fingers still coiled against the black pencil skirt that sat at your hips as you turned to face Jimin, “...She didn’t make the list…?” Yikes... Suddenly her message made a lot more sense...Not so much her message, but the timing of it. You glanced back at the costume rack, suddenly feeling a mix of both pity yet anger, this was your job, not high school cheer tryouts! “I honestly don’t know what to do with her anymore, I mean...Sure I feel bad she didn’t make the list, but is it really that big of a deal?”
“Not really, but strippers are considerably catty,” Jimin leaned against the back of the couch as he shrugged, “Seulgi honestly fits the filler role perfect. It’s a shame really, she has all the potential to become a soloist.”
You couldn’t help but tilt your head at his works, pulling the sheer button up top over your head before semi tucking it in, “Well somebody needs to tell her that so she’ll get off my ass. Don’t get me wrong, I understood at first Jimin, I really did,” Your eyes were semi glossed and pleading before you sighed, gritting your teeth, “But now it’s just petty.”
“Well that’s the thing,” Jimin snorted a laugh as you pulled the brown trench coat over your shoulders, “Don’t you get it Y/n?” You paused at his words, his smile playful as he began laughing, as if he knew a secret you didn’t, “That’s her problem. Seulgi needs to constantly be petted, the only person that’s holding her back from becoming a soloist is herself, if she didn’t need to be groomed and the center of attention constantly, if she’d just shut up and do the work that’s needed without constantly being praised for it. She’d easily make it to the top. But because she can’t, because she’s used to everyone telling her how amazing she is, she’s never going to get there.”
Jimin tucked his tongue into his cheek as he scoffed, “People like that annoy the fuck out of me. That’s what makes you different from her, yeah you were coddled by Jungkook in the beginning, but you never expected that out of him. You never anticipated any of us drowning you in praise and telling you ‘you’d definitely become a soloist;. No, you struggled like most of us did in the beginning, you worked your ass off in the beginning and now it’s paying off. That’s her problem.”
Your lips parted at his words, rather shocked to see Jimin feel so defensive for you. Pressing your lips together as you fiddled with your jacket, you never realized he felt so strongly about your situation with Seulgi, “...Do you think I’ve changed?” That was the one thing that bothered you, this whole time Seulgi kept proclaiming you had changed, was it really that bad?
“Yeah,” Your gaze snapped to Jimin’s figure as he shrugged, pushing his hands into the pockets of his leather jacket, presumably what he was wearing for the stage, “But change isn’t always a bad thing Y/n. Don’t let people hold you down just because they want to stay the same.”
Sighing, you wrapped your arms around yourself as you leaned against the wall, thinking on his words. You supposed, Jimin was right, change wasn’t always a bad thing. And looking back, maybe you had changed?
But it’s like he said, it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, you needed that change to happen. Or else things with Jungkook would have exploded and you could have potentially ruined your relationship with him. Your heart trembled at that idea, the memory of him and you both distant but still fresh. Jungkook was so important to you, you couldn’t lose him, and you changed not for him, but for yourself. So had he.
“I didn’t take you for a therapist Jimin.” You glanced up as a mutual smile pulled on both your and his lips as you shared a laugh, shaking your head as you stepped into your heels, “Thanks though,” You furrowed your brows before smiling a little, glancing up at him as you nodded, “I...I think I needed to hear that. I should make my way backstage, good luck!”
Jimin tipped his fedora at you with a wink as he replied, “Too you as well, you’ll need it. Cya Y/n.”
Keeping his words in mind you gave yourself a mini pep talk as you made your way backstage, it was even more crowded here then at a busy day at work and it was more chaotic than you could have ever imagined. You could do this. Being on stage wasn't what made you nervous anymore. It was getting off stage and finding out just what exactly Seasonella was.
The stage manager nodded in acknowledgement as you stood off to the side, peering out from behind the stage where your heart did a little leap at the sight of Jungkook. Swallowing the lump in your throat at how good he looked in a three piece suit and his gelled, styled hair. He must have just started his routine, his music was bassy and slow and the floor he stood on wafted with smoke, presumably from dry ice off stage.
Wrapping your arms around yourself you watched the way he easily swiveled his hips turning away from the audience, popping the jacket off his shoulders, oddly enough despite the large crowd nobody seemed to even be paying attention besides a few whistles here and there. Glancing over his shoulder he offered a sultry smirk, even after all this time he never failed to make your heart race and your face flushed as you dropped your gaze. He wasn’t even looking at you, in fact, he probably didn’t even know you were next in line up. Jungkook’s routine was slow and easy going as he began to shed his clothes, as if he was in no real hurry, soaking up his time on stage.
He really was a natural.
Just the way his hips would slowly roll before snapping, those large calloused hands slowly running up against his chest to pop the first button of his white button up. You could easily see why Jungkook thrived in this environment, now thinking about it. It was easy because it was only skin deep, Jungkook was comfortable in his body and it showed, being a stripper was hard, but it was only skin deep, you didn’t have to get personal or open up to anyone in this business.
But even with all of that in mind, his eyes, it was always his eyes that showed when he wasn’t feeling his performance, when something was on his mind. Nobody ever seemed to notice it but you. No matter how many smirks and teasing smiles Jungkook flashed it was his eyes that seemed...disinterested? Maybe...maybe even upset?
You didn’t like it, it drove your instincts wild with a need to sit on his lap and grab his face to look at you and ask him what was wrong, but then again, did you really need to? Given what had happened this morning? He was upset when you pushed him away, hell he was upset when he left after his shower. Neither of you had spoken when he left either, he just kept looking at you, longingly, as if hoping maybe you’d speak to him, to give him a chance.
It wasn’t that you didn’t want to speak to him, it was just...what was there to even talk about? He wasn’t going to convince you this was okay, because it wasn’t. None of this was okay. You didn’t like being on terms like this with him, but what else was there to discuss? It was what it was, all either of you could do was do your job.
It wasn’t like you were mad at him, Jungkook was a stripper, but so were you. Yes it was upsetting and it hurt that he’d be sleeping with other people, but so were you...You sighed, massaging the temple of your head as you watched his hand slip down to squeeze the thick imprint that pressed against his slacks. You couldn’t stop the quirk in your lips at the sight, even when he was upset he still managed to sport a boner, of course he could.
It was odd watching him pop the button of his slacks, usually by this point girls were practically screaming, but instead it was quiet besides the song that played as the slacks fell off his thick muscular thighs that flexed. You were semi perplexed at the sight of Versace strapped against his skin rather than his regular Calvin Kleins, you couldn’t help but grind your teeth at the idea of that girl buying them for him. It had to be her. Eva.
Was she out in the crowd somewhere enjoying the show? Or was she intending on making him strip again just for her in private. The idea made you livid and the intense desire to jab her eyes out for even looking at what was yours. It was hard to imagine you were actually blushing and melting into your chair when you first laid eyes on Jungkook’s figure on stage. Now you just felt a vague sense of depression watching him hook his thumbs to the band of his boxers.
Maybe it was a sense of defeat that you felt watching him proudly flaunt his hardened cock on stage. A part of you couldn’t help but snicker though, it was so typical of him. Exibitionism was one of his biggest kinks after all. His song had come to an end, the stage lights dimming as people rushed past you, a robe in hand for Jungkook as he came off stage.
No words were spoken, your gaze only catching his for a second before you were being ushered on stage. Nodding you hurried out in the blackout. Leaning against the pole you made yourself comfortable, it wasn’t time to think anymore. All you had to do was dance.
The lights immediately flickered on as the intro of your music started out, the smirk immediately pulling on your lips as you turned your head to face the crowd. Most of the crowd wasn’t even paying attention to you, some people seated others standing and talking to one another. What even was Seasonella for? Just connection building for the wealthy?
Letting your hands drag up your body, you slide down the pole letting your legs open naturally before letting your knees drop to let your hands support you on the ground. Your face pressing against the ground as you let your hand circle around your face. Just who were these nameless faces? Just like Jungkook, you weren’t at your best performance. Not that anyone could tell as you rolled to your back letting your legs raise up and set against the pole before letting one slide down as your hands squeezed up your chest, the smile teasing on your lips as you sent a wink out to the crowd.
That's when you saw him though, Jungkook fully dressed once more, hair damp from sweat and still adjusting the buttons of his loose black button up, his gaze not on Eva who was excitedly waiting for him, instead he was watching you as he ran a hand through his hair.
Letting your legs open slightly you sat up with your thighs sandwiched between the pole as you rested your head against it, letting the jacket fall off your shoulders as you sent a flirty gasp at the crowd before letting it drop to the ground.
Making your way to stand up you swayed your hips as you turned to face the crowd, a smug look twisting on to your features at the sight of Eva obviously not happy at your boyfriend checking you out. Keeping a wide stance you dropped slightly to circle your ribs while letting your hands drag up your thighs, teasingly pulling your skirt up higher. Turning to face the wall you curved your spine to highlight your ass as you teased even more, pulling the skirt up to flash the lingerie you wore before tugging the skirt back down.
You noticed whatever position Jungkook was in he must have left, or maybe Eva had dragged him away at the short time span your back was facing the audience, regardless they couldn’t have left already, right? Pulling your shirt from it’s tuck in your skirt you pulled it out farther as you sunk back down to a slut drop, they couldn’t have gotten far.
Just as you stood back up, hooking your thumb beneath the fabric of your top, a smirk flashed towards the audience that only a few eyes watched you curiously with, that’s when your eyes tracked that messy head of hair again. Jungkook was sitting down, his arm wrapped around Eva who was more than happily snuggled against him, chatting away with what appeared to be her friends. The other person who had stuck out to you was Diego who sat at their table, his eyes however, unshockingly were roaming your body.
You decided to pay him no mind as you pulled the shirt over your head, letting your upper body become exposed and the glittery, strappy push up bra become displayed. Maybe you were just imagining it but you could have swore Eva had jumped in Jungkook’s tightening grip. His eyes also on you while occasionally glaring daggers at Diego. God you would kill to be listening to that conversation.
Letting your hips sway softly you strutted further up stage, your arms over head before they groped their way down your body. Turning to face away from the crowd you looked over your shoulder, a playful smile tugging at your lips as you reached for the clasp of your bra. Unhooking it before letting it drop to the ground leaving your bare back on display.
Turning to face the audience you let your hips begin to sink once more as you let them sway hiding your breasts teasingly behind your hands that began to massage them. It was weird, being in a reversed role where it was your eyes that met Jungkooks from the stage, rather than the other way around.
Except rather than squirming in embarrassment Jungkook had zero shame in letting his eyes roam all over your body, his lip catching between his teeth and you were all too familiar with that dark look in his eyes. His chin lifting a little in that standoffish, domineering way it always did when he got turned on.
You however, weren’t yourself at the moment. Rather shy away from his gaze you welcomed it, letting your lips twitch back into a cocky smirk as your hands traveled down your body, your tits perking a little in arousal as your hands slid down your skirt. You could practically see the way Jungkook was eye fucking you, his hand that about been resting on the table curling into a fist and his expression becoming darker by the moment.
You hadn’t said anything, hell you hadn’t even done anything, but you could tell he wanted to put you over his lap. And there was nothing he could do about it. Something about being aware of that practically made your confidence shoot through the roof as you sent him a playful wink. Effortlessly pushing down the skirt that complied, hitting the ground to reveal the almost light golden, sequin g string you wore beneath, the sheer gold stockings and garter belt to match on display. You could even hear a few whistles from the audience only making you that much cockier.
And Jungkook was livid. So livid. Despite sitting far away you could see the way his jaw clenched and his fist uncurled and impatiently tapped against the table, as if itching to get his hands on you. Arousal instantly shot between your legs, his dark, lust filled gaze making your body anxious granted this was the most inconvenient timing ever.
If they saw you wet, then that’s just what was gonna happen, you’d just blame it on Jungkook given he was the reason you were in this state. There was no point in worrying about it now. With that in mind you sunk to the ground, crawling out on your hands and knees, letting your tits bounce a little as you dropped to your forearms. Jungkook leaned back in his seat, the vein on his neck popped and you could even see his chest puffing a little.
The sight made you want to laugh, and for a split second a genuine smile wiggled it’s way onto your lips, before the seductive one quickly took back over as your thighs slid to the ground. Rolling on to your back your vision of him was upside down but that didn’t deter you from letting your hands drag back up your body, letting them squeeze against your breasts as your thighs rubbed together, warm arousal beginning to make your panties stick your folds as you let your body begin to roll as your hips thrusted upwards.
Your hands sliding back down your body as you began to tug your panties off, gaze never breaking away from Jungkook’s figure, that looked close to a starved man ready to sit between your thighs at the moment. Your panties were unshockingly wet as you kicked them off. As if you weren’t aroused before you certainly were now, naked on stage for the whole floor to see. But with your eyes locked with Jungkook’s it wasn’t like that, it was just you and him at the moment. No party, no one else, just you and him.
Pulling yourself to sit up you turned to face the audience once more on your knees, a cocky smile tugging on your lips as you let them slide apart. Your cunt was aching and glistening at being exposed as your hands ran up your body, playing with your hair as you heard another round of whistles.
But this wasn’t about them, this was about Jungkook’s clenched jaw and the way he bounced his knee impatiently, the way his fingers twitched against his glass and his eyes roaming all over your exposed body. You didn’t need to see his lap to know he was hard. Crawling back on your hands and knees one last time you sent a one more wink to the audience before rolling to the side. Sitting upright as you finished your last pose.
The lights went black as you quickly stood up. Walking off stage as best you could in your heels as you grabbed the robe from one of the stage assistants. Wrapping it around your body you let a giggle escape your lips.
Jungkook was turned on, but so were you. You’ll forever have the look on his face stained in your head, maybe something you both could laugh over later and then bang because it would make him horny.
Walking back to your dressing room you closed the door. Kicking off your heels as you pulled your hair up into a bun to focus on getting dressed. Sitting down you unclipped your stockings before walking over to your bag. You supposed your black mini dress would do, and maybe you’d wear a pair of your black fishnet stockings to go with it? Biting against your lip you figured that would do it before getting changed. Fixing the deep v neck that plunged, showing off your cleavage before pulling out a black pair of pumps to match.
You wouldn’t be able to talk to Jungkook...but maybe taking Diego up on his offer meant you could see him more? It was a gamble. Nibbling against your lip you fixed your hair in the mirror, putting your phone in the cup of your bra before adjusting it to not make it look obvious. Would you even want to see him this weekend?
Regardless Diego Friar might as well have been a pile of money sitting at your doorstep, he would be paying you for your company and you knew he’d pay well. This was why you were doing this after all. This was supposed to justify the means. Somehow. Nodding you stood up before heading out. Soloist’s seemed to do more of the entertaining for the guests than actually dancing, although you couldn’t say it was completely true for you. You still had five more dances to get through tonight but at least you had a good hour break before going on back to back.
Did they really only keep you here as prostitutes? You couldn’t help but wonder about that question, hardly anyone even watched you show. Pushing the door open to enter into the main room you let your eyes wash over the crowd. Why not just hire prostitutes?
It was legal here in Nevada, why make the strippers do it under dubious consent? Surely the clients budget wasn’t that tight. You supposed there was no point in making sense of it. While Diego would pay for your company, you wouldn’t lie if you said there weren't any underlying motives here. Diego was the client's son, surely he’d know what was going on...Not that you assumed he’d willingly tell you but...A little investigating wouldn’t hurt, right?
You knew the only thing you needed to focus on was getting to the end of the weekend, but you couldn’t help but wonder, if something illegal was going on here, shouldn’t somebody stop it? Stopping in front of the table you couldn’t help the laugh that escaped you to see Diego standing up, as if waiting confidently, knowing you would come to this table.
“That was some performance doll.” He sent you a wink, his lips quirked into a smirk confidently, as if you had completely done that just for him. Had Diego not caught on between you and Jungkook? Or was he really that distracted by your body?
You offered a small smile in return as you wrapped your arms around yourself, “I told you I was saving my energy. So I was thinking,” You stretched your sentence as a playful smile tugged on your lips, “About your deal.”
Diego’s smirk was only reinforced by your words as he confidently strode up to you, “And?” The idea of sleeping with Diego was... less than appealing... but you had a lot of options to weigh here. The first being you were likely to see Jungkook more often, the second being you wouldn’t be passed from creep to creep and the third and last option was the one which wasn’t a good idea.
You wanted to know why the hell Seasonella existed, what was its purpose, who were these people? Diego was the client's son, if somebody knew the ropes of this party, it was him.
‘I’ve heard all kinds of rumors about our strippers coming here and not returning to Korea because of being difficult’
That’s the same words Jungkook told you. He wanted you to just go with the flow so nothing happened to you. Going with Diego was both the safest and most dangerous option, depending on how you played your cards. But you were willing to make a deal with the devil to find out, “I’ll agree to it, with some ground rules,”
Diego chuckled, shifting his weight from one foot to another, running a hand through his hair as he nodded, though it almost seemed vaguely patronizing, “Alright doll, that’s fair enough, what are these rules?”
“Condoms on at all times,” You immediately listed off, attempting to not wrinkle your nose at the idea of feeling him..raw...inside you...it made your stomach churn unpleasantly, “I’m not looking to get knocked up,” You offered a humored smile despite it feeling mildly forced, “And I want my mornings to myself,” You added, remembering Jungkook’s words, him telling you to ask for the mornings so you could at least be together then, “Two rules, and I’m all yours.”
You knew Jungkook wanted nothing more than to make sure you were safe. But you needed answers, you needed to know why this was happening. And furthermore, what part of this was illegal, if any at all.
Diego gave you a smile, his arm immediately wrapping around you as he replied, “Your rules are gold baby. You won’t be disappointed. C’mon, let's get you a drink and sit down.” It felt weird being held by somebody else while sipping on your classic margarita, taking a seat down at the table where Jungkook’s eyes glared at the arm wrapped around your shoulder like it pissed him off. It probably did. You could only hope Jungkook didn’t get the wrong idea about this, you weren’t doing this to spite him.
You did it for multiple reasons, none which even involved him...Well, none that involved him in a bad way. But to see Jungkook so...docile in a situation like this? In a situation “This is Y/n, the lovely doll I’ve been talking about.” Diego introduced you to his friends, mutual friends of Eva as well you assumed. It was coincidental that you and Jungkook just so happened to be sitting on the inside of the table next to one another, a respectful distance between you both given you both were supposed to be closer to each sibling.
“It’s so nice to meet you!” You gave a bright smile at the man- Lorenzo who was an italian with a strong accent and didn’t seem incredibly familiar with Koren, but enough that you could hold a steady conversation, he also seemed to be a considerably close friend of Diego’s compared to all of the others, “I hope you’ve been enjoying the show up on stage.”
What you hadn’t expected was a large, wrathful hand to harshly clamp your inner thigh making you nearly choke on your drink, callous fingers digging into your soft skin while roughly massaging closer to your core.
Your eyes sent sharp daggers to Jungkook’s figure, who was innocently on his side of the table, his free arm wrapped around Eva while conversing with her and one of her friends, acting as if he totally wasn’t groping you. This was not the time or place to be doing this!
“Ah yes, you put on quite the show.” You gave a forced smile at Lorenzo as you tried to wiggle your leg from Jungkook's grasp, it was useless though as he squeezed harder, his nails pleasantly digging into your skin as if in warning to stop.
It wasn’t even fair, Jungkook was speaking to Eva and her friends in english which you could only pick bits and pieces of conversation out of while he could hear everything you said. You tried your best, you really did. But Jungkook’s long thick fingers were making it difficult to focus, never quite making it to where you had hoped it would, but just enough to keep you on edge.
Was this some possessive display or reminder to you? You wished you could just ask Jungkook what his problem was. Maybe he was mad you weren’t wearing your collar, but could he really expect you too when...You couldn’t help but shudder. This was going to be a long night.
The night dragged on and admittedly, you couldn’t help but tense at all the pleasantries, you honestly assumed Diego would jump you the moment he got his hands on you but then again, he was from a prestigious family, clearly.
You sighed as you glanced at yourself in the mirror, rubbing the towel over the back of your neck that had broken out in a sweat, you were used to dancing on stage but something about being here had made you nervous. You weren’t sure what it was but the whole vibe of this place put you on edge. Shaking your head you pulled the skirt up to your waist before finishing putting on the rest of your clothes.
Dread filled your stomach but you couldn’t help it, anytime you weren’t dancing you were with Diego, you assumed the moment he got you alone he’d jump you but he had behaved well...But now your night of stripping was over, your body was tired and so were you but...Well you had a feeling the night had only just begun in other ways.
Jungkook had disappeared a while ago with Eva and her friends, he had finished earlier in the night then you but given he was more social it wasn’t a surprise he had stayed to converse with her and her friends. Or maybe it was Eva who wanted to stay longer?
You couldn’t help but feel a simmering anger boil inside you at the idea of someone controlling and dictating the man you loved. You forcibly calmed yourself as you pushed your hair off your shoulder. This wasn’t the time to brood of this, it wasn’t like you could do anything about it. Could you even be mad at Jungkook? No, not when you were with Diego.
Something about the situation made you grit your teeth as you pushed the door to your dressing room open. Why were you so powerless in a situation like this? You had never seen Jungkook let himself be powerless either.
Pausing you glanced at the ground as people rushed past you, the night on stage still very much alive and even busier than you had ever seen before. If Jungkook was too scared to speak up or if he was worried for you, then you’d do it for him. You nodded affirming to yourself.
Whatever the Friar’s were up too....You weren’t just going to sit still and watch your friends get bullied by them. The idea made your lips twitch and your fist coil in anger, why the fuck was nobody saying anything to them!?
Closing your eyes briefly you let your shoulders relax as you began to walk. It’s okay, they have all been there to help you on your feet. Now you’d stand beside them and defend them just as they have you. You didn’t know who these people were but you were going to find out.
Walking out of the back and into the large lounge your eyes scoped Diego who seemed to be talking to two other men...He hadn’t introduced you so they must have been work related contacts.
Walking over you gave a bright smile as Diego’s eyes landed on you, pausing conversation with the two men as he waved you over, “Finished up doll?” You nodded, feigning innocence to the two men’s stares that leered on you as Diego squeezed your chin, “Good. Tell you what baby, how about you head up to my room? I’ll catch up with you soon, I just have some business to take care of.”
You felt an odd shiver down your spine at his words. Business? At three in the morning? You still gave a smile as you nodded, “Of course! I’ll see you soon then.” You winked as you took the passcard from his hand, a charming expression on your face as you nodded to the two men before turning around.
You didn’t like this one bit. You glanced around in hopes of finding a familiar face but everyone seemed foreign to your eyes. Sighing, you shook your head a little, glancing down at the passcard to Diego’s room, number listed on it as you headed for the elevator.
Staying still you intended to enter the elevator only for your eyes to widen at the heated sight as the doors slid open, the familiar head of hair sucking harshly on skin as the woman moaned, Seokjin suddenly straightened up at the sight of you as he coughed harshly.
The girl jumped before turning around as she gave a sheepish smile before glancing up at him with pink cheeks, “Thanks for seeing me down, i’ll see you later.” She winked as she stepped out of the elevator just as you stepped in.
It was quiet for a moment as you and Seokjin awkwardly stood there, “I uh-”
“It’s cool.” You immediately cut him off as you both glanced at each other, unable to keep the awkward tense though as you both let out a small laugh, “She seemed happy.”
“I’d hope so,” Seokjin scoffed, not going into detail but you could tell they obviously had just finished sleeping together, if Seokjin’s sweat drenched and messy hair was anything to go by, his eyes glancing up at the number that ticked up in the elevator, “I’m assuming you’re headed for Diego’s?”
You gave a small nod before sighing, “Yeah...he had ‘business’ to take care of so he’s meeting me later…” You parted your lips for a moment before closing them once more, glancing up at Seokjin’s figure before asking, “...Seokjin…” Gaining his attention he glanced down at you as he raised his brows a little, “What’s going on here?”
You watched his shoulders tense a little as he pressed his lips together, glancing away from you before letting his gaze flicker across the elevator as if searching for something, “...Sometimes...it’s better to be ignorant Y/n,” You frowned at his cryptic words, Seokjin’s gaze on you was like a heavy weight, as if they were drilling through your soul as he continued, “Don’t look for something you’ll regret finding out. I saw Jungkook earlier.” Your frown deepened at his abrupt change of topic.
What was it that they knew that you didn’t? All you had heard were rumors thus far. It was obvious Seokjin and the others knew something was going on, so why weren’t they doing anything about it? Was it really easier to just turn a blind eye to whatever was happening?
Deciding to drop the subject you held in a sigh as you glanced up at the numbers sliding above the door, “Yeah…?” You kept your tone neutral, not wanting to say you didn’t want to hear it, but on the other hand you were a little curious.
“Yeah,” Seokjin clacked his tongue before snorting, “He didn’t look happy. Just kept staring at you on stage like a little puppy before Eva dragged him away.” You didn’t reply to his words for a moment. Were you surprised? No. Did it warm your heart?...Maybe a little...But still, you needed to play your cards carefully. The last thing you needed was Eva catching wind of your relation to Jungkook outside of being his trainee.
“Well he’s just going to have to deal with it.” You replied, not intending to come off as cold as you did making Seokjin turn to face you, his brows raised in somewhat surprise making you sighed as your expression softened a little, “What can I do about it Seokjin? What’s the point in talking about it? It just…” You inhaled sharply before letting it out, “It’s already upsetting, why even talk about it?”
You hadn’t even meant to project onto him, but you couldn’t help it, the early morning of what had happened with Jungkook was still fresh in your mind, what did he want from you? To say it was okay? That it would all be okay? It wasn’t okay! None of this was okay!
Seokjin frowned a little, his own expression softening a little as he nodded solemnly, “I can understand to a degree. But you can’t ignore him forever. What are you gonna do when all of this is over? Pretend like it never happened?”
Glaring down at the floor you didn’t reply for a moment before answering, “I don’t know. And I’m not gonna think about it right now. I have a lot more on my plate to focus on.” The doors slid open with a ding as you glanced ahead. Seokjin frowned at your words, wanting to respond but not having the time as you turned to give him a small smile, “Good luck Seokjin, I’ll see you later.”
Walking out of the elevator you kept a clear head as you walked down the eerily silent hallway, the elevator closed behind you leaving you all by yourself, the corridor was long and if you had gotten too close to a door you could hear soft moans from inside.
Stepping back to keep in center only to jolt at the sound of a loud crash and a muffled scream, “Be quiet you bitch!” Adrenaline shot through your veins at the muffled snarl of a man at the you were about to pass, “I’ll be back soon and you better be fucking prepared to perform again.”
You scrambled away from the door, heart pounding in your chest as the door ripped open, the sounds of sobs inside before the door slammed shut.
Footsteps stomped down the hallway until they could no longer be heard, when you heard the distinct sound of the elevator you timidly turned around...Should you…? Of course you should! Whatever had happened, it didn’t sound good. Nodding to yourself you swallowed thickly as you walked back to the door as you frowned. The sobbing was still muffled but could be heard inside and it was enough to break your heart...It wasn’t your business but…
You gently knocked on the door, no response sounding, just tears. Gently you opened the door, timidly gazing inside only to feel your heart crumble at the familiar sight.
Chan Hee.
Naked yet curled up, not on the bed, but on the ground against it with her knees curled to her chest and tears streaming down her face, an ugly welt on her cheek as her body trembled. Fumbling you closed the door behind you as you rushed up to her figure that seemed so small in comparison to any other time you’ve seen her.
Chan Hee, was the image of confidence, of not caring whether people saw her as bitchy or conceited. To see her so weak, so vulnerable, it crushed you more than you ever thought it would, “Chan Hee?” You weakly called out as you kneeled down, grabbing the throw blanket off the bed as she whimpered, her arms squeezing tightly around her knees, “Y-you should go.” She stammered, tears streaking down her cheeks as you wrapped the blanket around her body, “H-he’ll b-be back soon…”
“I’m not leaving you here by yourself.” You gritted your teeth, brows pinching together in anger as she sniffled, yes you may not have been on the best terms with her but you’d never turn your back to someone in need and right now she needed someone, “For all the differences we might have I would never leave you or anyone else here.”
Her fists coiled around the blanket as she lowered her gaze, trembling as tears dripped down her cheeks, standing up you gathered her clothes that were scattered across the floor before sitting down next to her, “Nobody fucking told me it would be a whore house here.” She sniffed as she gritted her teeth, wiping her eyes once more with trembling hands.
“I was told…” You murmured as you glanced at the floor, Chan Hee glancing at you as she rubbed her eyes, “But I just didn’t listen, didn’t even think about it.” You gave a hurmorless smile at the floor before it dropped, silently berating yourself on how ignorant you chose to be despite the many times Jungkook warned you, “I was so naive and dumb, it didn’t even register in my brain until this morning.
It was quiet for a moment as you both sat in silence before you shuffled, “C’mon, let’s get you dressed. I’d rather not be here when he comes back.” Chan Hee shakily sat herself on the bed, surprisingly letting you help her get dressed.
Her legs were particularly twitchy, her eyes seemed glassy still and her gaze distant, “...I didn’t care at first,” She whispered under her breath, not looking at you as you pulled the top over her head, “...Sex is sex, it was just another tip under my belt...But after the first round...it was just too much,” Her eyes were beginning to water again as she scoffed despite her lips quivering, “...And even when I told him to stop he-” She inhaled, choking back a sob that made your own eyes water.
Kneeling down in front of her you gently grabbed her hands, her gaze was down in her lap as fresh tears trickled down her cheeks, it was odd seeing Chan Hee seem so...ashamed, broken even, “Chan Hee, I know apologizing isn’t going to fix what happened, but I am sorry. It shouldn’t be like this, everything in Seasonella... Come on, where’s your room at? You shouldn’t be subjected to this anymore.”
Chan Hee didn’t reject your movement as you helped her up, your pulse speeding up as you opened the door, timidly glancing around before walking up ahead to the other elevator, only praying you wouldn’t run into the man that did this, “Fifth floor, 32.” She murmured, her body trembling a little as you both got into the elevator.
The strippers floor was quiet, almost all rooms vacant as everyone was out filling client rooms or dancing, you helped Chan Hee into her room as you set her on her bed, feeling a little lost until she weakly laid down, “I’ll be okay,” She murmured, curling up against her covers as she hugged her pillow, “...thank you.” Two words and yet they felt so hopeless and sad, you mustered a small smile as you nodded before reluctantly turning around.
Your thoughts lingered on Chan Hee before flittering to Seokjin’s words, and then briefly they stayed on Jungkook. Sighing you pinched the bridge of your nose as you shook your head, pushing the cardkey into the slot before walking into the large room.
What you didn’t expect was the room to be vacant. You had been gone at least twenty minutes and Diego still wasn’t here? You frowned as you warily stepped into the room, it at first appeared like a lodge of some sort, couches facing each other with a small kitchen at the back wall, up the two steps however was the large king size bed and a desk with a dresser nearby. Despite the room's large size, his main bedroom seemed almost small.
Your eyes honed in on the messy desk, Seokjin’s words replaying in your mind before Chan Hee’s figure reminded you why you were here. Maybe they would pretend like everything was okay and bare it, but you weren’t. Not when stuff like this was happening. Carefully you glanced around the room before looking over your shoulder at the door as you walked up to the desk.
Pushing through some of the paper you frowned as you picked up a document of sorts.
Warehouse 15: Currently full
Shipments will need to be made by the 22nd and deadlines for payments will be cut off by the 25th when the cargo has arrived, we’ll need to gain the last set of the cargo during the weekend of the 18th-
You jumped at the sound of the door closing, hurriedly dropping the document as you swiftly turned around. Diego’s figure was skewered by the corner of the wall, “You’re here.” You welcomed as you painted a smile on your face despite the back of your mind rampantly running at whatever you just read, warehouse 15? What was held in it that was full? And clients? Was this what Seasonella was about? Today was the 18th, the start of the weekend…
“Seems someone is eager to see me.” Diego sent you a wink as he pulled the jacket off as you felt your smile tense a little, he seemed tired as he loosened his tie.
You slowly made your way down the two steps into the main lodge as you sat down on the couch, “Well it was getting a little lonely here...Did you take care of your business?” You asked carefully, keeping your eyes wide and doe like to appear innocent as you folded your hands into your lap.
Diego chuckled a little, unbuttoning his waist coat as he sat down a little closer to you then you would’ve liked but you didn’t move away, “Yes, it’s all finished now. No need to worry about that doll, c’mere.” You squeaked a little at the way his hands grabbed onto your waist, pulling you to straddle his lap.
It felt foreign as you had never slept with a client before and the only man you had slept with in months was...Jungkook...you felt somewhat nauseous thinking about him, thinking about what you were about to do, “You’ve got all my attention now,” Diego licked his lips as he pushed the hair from your face, your body tense as you resisted to pull away from his touch like you wanted.
It wasn’t warm and tender like Jungkook’s, one that made you want to bury further into him. No, this felt somewhat condescending in a way, as if your hand was being twisted behind your back and his grip was lifeless of any sort of care or love, “Relax baby, you seem so tense.” Diego purred as his hands slid to your waist.
You let the smile turn more charismatic as you giggled a little, shrugging as you forced your thoughts into the back of your head, “It’s just been a...long day...but incredible I mean…” You let your smile turn more coy, girlish as you tucked a strand of hair behind your ear, “I’m in Las Vegas, it’s a little overwhelming...I just can’t help but wonder, how did Seasonella begin Diego?” You tilted your head innocently as you let your hands press gently against his chest.
“Curious are we?” He chuckled a little, a smirk coiling on his lips as you rolled your hips a little enticingly, the more you gave the more willing he’d be to speak on this, or so you hoped, “Seasonella was originally just an annual meeting held between my fathers men yearly,” His hands rested on your hips as you swayed them against his, letting them roll along the hardening bulge of his cock,, “It slowly began to grow into his men bringing other references, and those references bring theirs until it grew even more, eventually it became more like an open party to the right people to come and do business with us. It’s what made our wealth skyrocket.”
You were having a difficult time relaxing as he leaned in against your neck, lips trailing along your neck as your breath catched a little as you focused everything onto his words. You’d need more than that to go on. You wiggled your hips a little more as you pulled away, letting your lips tug into a cute pout before letting them twist into a playful smile, “And that’s it? That’s how you started taking strippers from across the globe to attend?”
Diego placed his hands on your hips as you gave them a little sway, pretending as if you totally hadn’t felt his obviously lacking hard on, “When the meeting starting becoming bigger and more akin to a party we started hiring on entertainment,” You could see the way Diego was becoming more pliable, more willing to spill whatever you wanted so you could hurry up, “Of course it ended up benefiting us in the end, we invest they give us girls. It works out.”
What…?
Diego, perhaps realizing how his words sounded didn’t give you a chance to question him further, you squeaked as he pushed you down onto the couch, climbing on top of you as you swallowed thickly, “But enough of that doll. I’m more interested in how tight that little cunt is.” You jumped a little at his lips attaching to your neck, the sharp moan leaving you before you could stop it.
Diego’s hands dragged their way down your waist as you squirmed beneath him, controlling your breaths as adrenaline shot through your veins. Just today and tomorrow, that’s all you needed to get through.
“Kookie, why have you been so quiet?” Eva turned to face him with a pouty frown, shifting the blanket to cover her plump perky breasts as she laid her head against her arms, observing the way Jungkook laid on his back, his expression dimmed and the frown harshly twisted on his lips.
The door had just closed and her friend who had joined them in such an incredible night in bed had taken her leave. Jungkook didn’t reply for a moment, unsure of how to before he finally shrugged, sitting up as the blanket fell off his chest revealing the broad chiseled sight that was making her rub her thighs together all over again, “Eva can I be honest with you?”
It was a dumb question, because while he was sure she was going to say yes despite the likelihood that she’d accept his words was….rather slim.
Eva gave him a wide, excited smile, as if she thought for sure he was slowly beginning to open up to her. Sitting up eagerly, she clutched the sheets against her chest as she gave him a timid smile, “Of course you can Jungkook, I’ll never judge you.” Rather than make him smile though Jungkook’s brows only furthered as he sighed, running a hand through his damp hair, “What do you think we are, relationally speaking?” He wanted to cringe at the question, but it was something he had been thinking about. Eva had continuously gloated to her friends about her ‘boyfriend when Jungkook had made himself clear several times before that he was not her boyfriend..
Eva’s cheeks dusted a light pink as she glanced coyly at the blankets, “Well...I thought I made my point Kook. If it weren’t for my studies I’d be in Korea...with you...I like you....a lot...I have since we met last year.”
Jungkook didn’t mean to let the groan escape him but it was too late, Eva had stiffened somewhat as she glanced at him carefully awaiting his response, “Eva….” His words didn’t sound promising he knew it, but Jungkook wanted to make himself very clear, “You do understand that I’m only here because I have to be here? Right? You’re a nice girl but…” Should he bring you into this conversation? No...he’ll need to make it discreet, “I’ve met someone...Someone I really love...”
Jungkook felt somewhat timid meeting her gaze, it was worse than he had hoped for truthfully. Eva was as stiff as a board and her gaze was darkening by the second before she gave a loud scoff that came out as if she was trying to force it into a laugh, her smile sharper than usual as she replied, “Love…? Maybe it’s just me but if you really loved someone, you wouldn’t be working as a stripper and sleeping with people behind her back.”
Jungkook had parted his lips to object but quickly snapped them shut, remembering he had told himself he was leaving you out of this. He couldn’t help but feel guilty though, did he really love you if he was doing this? He could feel it eating him alive inside as she gave him a snide smile, “Yeah, that’s what I thought. I get it Jungkook I do, we’ve been apart a year, but just give it a shot!”
Eva ignored the way his body tensed as she climbed into his lap, cupping his face as her smile softened a little, “I think we could really work Jungkook...besides...you know I can offer you anything she could and even more,” Jungkook’s jaw clenched against her grip and he refused to meet her eyes, “And you know it, I’ll take care of you, provide for you, my family will keep you safe from KOI and I know how much of a strangle hold they’ve had on you before.”
Letting her forehead rest against his she leaned in, his lips were so soft and addictive. Eva only felt them for a few seconds before she was pushed away, her lips even parted in somewhat offense at the aggressive and cold glare he gave her, “I’ll sleep with you all you want, I’ll play boyfriend while I’m here, I’ll let you have your fun with your friends,” She whined a little as he shoved her against the bed climbing on top of her, “But don’t you ever fucking kiss me like you’re actually apart of my life. You know nothing about me or who I am and it’s going to be kept this way.”
Jungkook roughly rolled her onto her stomach as he growled, “Now I’m gonna spank this ass until it’s bruised and you’re gonna count you disobedient bitch.” He didn’t even wait for her to speak, she was already moaning and whining as his hand slammed against the delicate pale skin of her ass. Jungkook didn’t care how much she knew about him or how much she could dangle his past over his head, there would always be few things off limits and this was one of them.
…
It was morning, you knew it was. Light streamed through the windows and it looked like a beautiful day outside, blue sky with billowing white clouds. If you were back home in Korea you would’ve begged Jungkook to take you to the market where you’d go to look for plants and succulents to add to your collection.
But you weren’t home. No. You were in Diego Friar’s bed with thighs that ached and like they were on fire with your stomach churning for the past thirty minutes. He had left a while ago saying he had work to take care of and that he’d meet you in the cafe for breakfast. That was okay, you didn’t want him to stay anyways. You felt gross, every inch of your body felt disgusting and you knew a shower wouldn’t be enough to make you feel better.
Trying to ignore the dull throb of your stomach you sat up feeling somewhat numb as you carefully dressed yourself. Glancing at Diego’s desk you deflated even more, all the paper that had been thrown across was gathered and most likely taken by him this morning. Standing up you winced as you forced yourself to walk. You weren’t going to break down...you weren’t going to break down crying…
No matter how much you repeated it in your head you still felt tears glossing in your eyes as you punched the bottom floor button, the elevator was making your stomach feel even worse as you groaned silently, the elevator was too small and there were too many people here.
As soon as the doors slid open you pushed your way out, the churn of your stomach becoming too much and you needed to find a bathroom, fast, “Oh hey Y/n-” Jimin’s eyes widened a little as you shoved past him and into the bathroom.
Unable to even lock the stall door as you lurched down onto your knees, the sour taste of alcohol and last night's meal coming up as you coughed rancidly, spitting out bile as tears trickled down your cheeks from the force of your cough as you began to dry heave up any last bits.
Sitting down against the toilet you couldn’t help but let the tears trickle down your face as you let out a sob. God you felt disgusting, would Jungkook even want to be with you today after knowing...After seeing? Your hands trembled as you sobbed into them. Sniffling harshly as you forced yourself up to stand, flushing away the reminder of what had happened before wobbling out to the sink to fix yourself up.
Your eyes still looked bloodshot but it wasn’t notable as long as someone didn’t stare for long, you rinsed your mouth out with the sink water, gurgling a few times as you gagged while spitting it out, the raw burn of your throat a reminder of what had just happened.
Opening the door you jumped a little to see the sight of Jimin leaning against the wall with one foot, arms crossed as his eyes landed on you, a frown quirking onto his lips as he sighed, “...You...look like you’ve seen better days.” He picked his words carefully, “You good?”
You closed your eyes briefly, trying to ignore the churn of your stomach already despite having just thrown up, “As well as I can be, I just...Sorry I didn’t mean to push you, I just uh...threw up.” You gave a weak smile as Jimin examined your figure, “Sorry. It’s just been a long night.”
He nodded understandingly, “Well I’m sure your body is already going through a lot as it is, you should really lay down and rest.” You sighed at his words, glancing away from him as you rubbed your forehead.
“I told Diego i’d be at breakfast in the cafe....What are you doing here?” You pressed your brows together as you tilted your head, why was Jimin here anyways? You had been in too much of a rush to think much of it before.
Jimin snorted, “I was going to breakfast but after you rushed past me I figured I’d stay behind to check on you. Like I said, you look like you’ve seen better days. Who cares about Diego? I’m sure he won’t be hurt if you skip.”
“...Well yeah but…” You trailed off with a frown causing Jimin to peer at you somewhat confused as you sighed, stepping closer to him as you lowered your voice, “...You’re the only one I’m going to tell but...Something is going on here Jimin,” You glanced up at him, your gaze serious and even boarding harsh as you continued, “And I’m going to find out what it is and stop it.”
Jimin’s gaze hardened a little as he frowned, “Y/n…” He shook his head a little in disdain as you scoffed while stepping away from him. Why was it everyone was so fucking scared? This wasn’t right! Whatever it was! “These people are dangerous...Be careful. I need to go get breakfast for myself and Rosé but...just be careful okay? There’s a reason a lot of us just leave it alone.” His gaze was a silent warning as you nodded reservedly before you let Jimin walk past you.
Sighing you pinched the bridge of your nose. Why must everything be so secretive?
Breakfast hour was always Jungkook’s favorite part of Seasonella, free food and he could officially go and sleep off the ache of his body for the rest of the day before rinse repeat in this scenario. It was normal to eat with said client and no matter how annoying it was Jungkook would tolerate it when you were just in eyesight.
No matter how much it pissed him off. You wouldn’t meet his gaze and he knew exactly why, your neck was shamelessly covered in hickies and there was a slight limp in your walk when you showed up, oddly by yourself and it for a moment made every sense in his body tell him to go sit with you and coddle you.
It was like his conversation with Eva the night before hadn’t even existed, either she was truly dense or she was cooking something up.
Jungkook didn’t like the way she smiled and laughed with all of her friends, some passing jokes to each other in hopes of maybe buttering him up about how good he was in bed to get one more round in before he’d call it quits. But no amount of jokes or compliments were getting him to budge. He had managed a few smiles and jokes as well but nothing more than playful banter.
He kept his gaze towards you minimally, but he felt somewhat useless when his gaze met yours, had you been looking at him too?
Jungkook could feel his outer charming mask begin to crumble at the way your lips quivered and your eyes shooting back down to your untouched food. The sudden need to touch you, to hold you filling his veins. His fingers began to thrum against the table in impatience before he checked his phone, he couldn’t wait, it was nearly killing him.
Jungkook swallowed thickly at how sharp and dry your words over text were, were you actually okay. You hadn’t looked at him once when you got up from the table, your food untouched as you left. He could only sigh and endure the rest of breakfast until he was finally free of Eva’s claws the rest of the day.
Jungkook’s body was objecting to every sluggish step he took back to his room, it had been awhile since he actually pulled an all nighter, well into the morning hours without any sleep whatsoever. Rubbing his eyes he yawned as he opened the door, quietly closing it as he felt his once tense muscles relaxed at the familiar sight.
You were curled up against the bed, the large hoody- his as a matter of fact, drowning your body and the hood pulled over your head while you buried in the large pillows. Jungkook felt his lips curve a little into a soft smile as he changed out of his sticky previously sweat stained clothes, feeling relieved to just be comfortable once more as he drew the large thick currents over the window to darken the room before he sat down on the bed. His hand gently stroking your waist.
What he hadn’t expected was the violent jolt from you before jerking away making him frown. Jungkook had anticipated you wanting his touch after such an...intense night but, maybe he was wrong... His jaw clenched slightly at the way your body tensed and didn’t seem to relax at the realization he was in bed with you. He didn’t even want to think about what you went through last night.
Not wanting to push your comfort zone Jungkook sighed as he laid down on his side of the bed, your back was turned to him and you hadn’t even greeted him yet. Oh well, words didn’t need to be spoken. Jungkook could only let his gaze longingly stare against your figure that was curled away from him. God he just wanted to hold you, now he couldn’t even do that.
....
Your mind felt fuzzy, that kind of drowsiness you wake up with when you decide to take a nap at an odd hour and when you wake up you don’t know what time it is and if it’s day or night. You groaned as you rolled over, your muscles gripping at the sight of an empty bed. Where did Jungkook go?
You were aware you hadn’t been...the kindest...but maybe you were just still reeling from last night. That didn’t mean you didn’t want to see him though...You felt yourself relax at the sight of Jungkook appearing from the bathroom, his lips quirking up a little at the sight of your half awake figure.
“I have a bath running, we need to get you cleaned up.” Jungkook sat down on the side of the bed as he let his hand stroke through your hair, your body flinched a little at the contact, your poor scalp was still sore from how much Diego had pulled on your hair. Jungkook frowned before tenderly letting his fingers run along your scalp.
“Thanks.” You replied dryly, a tiny bit of humor detected in your tone while letting your lips tug into a tiny smile, it was hard to keep a straight face when you were around Jungkook, even like this. It was something Jungkook seemed to return so easily, his fingers sliding down to your cheek to gently stroke along it.
“That’s not what I meant,” He clacked his tongue, trying to give you a scolding look but failing as his lips twisted into a smile, “C’mere,” Jungkook internally sighed, his heart broke for you, he could see how much you were struggling to not instinctively push him away as your body tensed and flinched as he picked you up. You really were trying your best to relax in his grip as he carried you to the bathroom, “It’s not about you being dirty, it’s about me not wanting you to get an infection.”
Jungkook already had a fresh set of clothes folded neatly on the closed toilet seat as he set you on the counter, tugging off the sweatshirt that covered your body as he sighed. His lips unable to stay smiling as they twisted into a sad frown at the hickies your body sported and bruises on your hips in the shape of fingers.
“I get it. It was a lot,” He mumbled as he pulled out a hairbrush from his bag that laid on the ground, gently untangling your hair as he refused to meet your gaze, “But I’d never hurt you baby. You know that right? I don’t want you to ever think I’d make you do something you don’t want too. I don’t want to know what happened last night, but I’ll never treat you the way he did.”
Your shoulders kept tensing and relaxing over and over again as Jungkook finished brushing your hair, finally glancing down at you as he sighed, tears were beginning to streak down your face as you closed your eyes, “I feel so fucking gross.” You finally relented, your hands shaking as you pressed them into your eyes, “I...I...Jungkook...I feel so disgusting.”
And you did, you felt ruined. Like you didn’t deserve to even be in the same room as Jungkook at the moment. Why would he even want you now? After...after last night...Jungkook hushed you gently as he wrapped his arms around you tenderly pressing a kiss against your head, his heart lurching and it hurt with every beat at the tears you cried, “Shhh, it’ll be okay baby. Just tonight and we’re done. Shhh, don’t cry baby.”
For the first time you had craved his warmth all over again, letting his arms tighten around you as he cradled you close, peppering kisses against your hair before eventually coaxing you into the nice warm tub.
It felt normal, as if you weren’t at Seasonella or like Diego and Eva never happened. It was just you and Jungkook, his arms still loosely wrapped around you, his fingers dancing along your skin beneath the water soothingly and his lips occasionally pecking softly against the hickies. As if to make them feel better, as if to make them his even if they weren’t.
After a hefty amount of coaxing Jungkook had finally gotten you to give in, your fists clenched as you sucked in a sharp breath, “What happens in this bathtub, stays in this bathtub by the way.” You heard him chuckle as you whined, pressing your forehead against the cold tile of the wall, “Do I need stitches? It feels like I do.”
Jungkook sighed as if him staring at your asshole with cheeks spread open was something he did everyday, “No you don’t need stitches. There’s some blood, yeah but that’s just because he didn’t properly prep you. Poor baby.” He let go of your cheeks before letting his hand gently rub against the bruised surface, “I’ll clean it up, outside of it hurting there’s nothing actually wrong. Luckily we can get you some medicine for that.”
You winced as he spread them back open. You never in your life, thought you’d be in a bathtub with your asscheeks spread just so Jungkook could clean you up. You thought you had gotten past any sort of embarrassment you’d ever feel around Jungkook yet it seemed like he lived to prove you wrong. You sucked in another breath as you felt the soft warm bath cloth rub against the aching puckered ring.
“There, all better.” Jungkook set the bathcloth down before tenderly grabbing your waist, guiding you to sit back down in the nice soothingly hot water as he pressed another kiss against your neck, “Can’t believe he’d actually do that to you.” He gritted his teeth as he muttered under his breath.
You shifted a little, nibbling against your lip, you knew that wasn’t his invitation to getting you to talk about it but… “It was dark….I doubt he realized it was blood…” You mumbled, you could feel his skin tense beneath you as he huffed.
“If there was blood involved you can’t tell me you weren’t crying.” Jungkook tried to keep his voice a steady note but he could feel his anger beginning to rise, just the idea made him sick to his stomach.
You didn’t have the heart to mention he was right, you had cried while mumbling your safeword a fair amount of times when anal got involved, maybe if you had just said something he’d....But did you even want his comfort though? No, you gritted your teeth and dealt with it because you wanted that disgusting human being away from you as soon as he blew his load.
Jungkook pulled you out of the water, wrapping a warm fluffy towel around you as he carefully dried you off, saying no more on the subject as it was clear neither of you really wanted to talk about it. No, you just wanted to enjoy what time you could with him.
Pulling on the fresh pair of panties and Jungkook helped you tug on the comfy gym shorts before pulling the nice warm sweatshirt over your head, it smelt like him, your favorite smell.
Sitting down in bed you patiently waited for Jungkook as he typed in the password on your laptop, intending to put something on for you both to watch as he set in on the bed, a knock on the door making you both alert.
You glanced at Jungkook in confusion as he gave you a weak smile, “I know you said you weren’t hungry but baby...you need to eat something.” You frowned a little as you tugged on a strand of hair. Opening the door he pulled out his wallet, paying for the food before closing the door behind him. Taking a seat on the bed as he opened up the takeout boxes, you wouldn’t deny the glee that entered your body at the sight of Chow Mein and Shrimp.
One bite into your food though immediately made your stomach lurch, your hand squeezing against the wooden chopsticks as you forced yourself to swallow. Jungkook was right, you needed to eat something. It didn’t matter how tasty it was though, it made you sick to your stomach the more you ate.
One more bite and you had to put down your chopsticks, Jungkook frowned as he noticed your hand covering your mouth, “Hey, you okay baby?” He couldn’t even finish his words before you were already scrambling off the bed at your stomach lurching and your throat constricting. You barely made it to the toilet before you were already throwing up what little you had eaten, dry heaving despite nothing coming up.
You couldn’t stand when people tried to comfort you when you were throwing up and Jungkook got a good taste of that when he attempted the first time he witnessed you hungover. Your vision was blurred with tears as you spat up the vile taste that lingered in your mouth, after a few moments Jungkook entered the bathroom as you wiped your mouth with toilet paper, tossing it carelessly in before weakly pulling the handle.
Your body trembled as he sighed, pressing a kiss on top of your head, “You good?” He sat down as he wrapped his arms loosely around you.
“Y-yeah, I just haven’t been able to keep anything down.” Your body trembled once more as you curled against him, letting him pick you up before delicately carrying you back to bed.
Leaned against him you weakly curled up as you sighed, your head was beginning to throb once more and your stomach ached with a lingering aftertaste of vomit, god you felt so weak and Chow Mein was not as good as you remembered it tasting. Closing your eyes once more you relaxed on top of Jungkook’s laid out figure, his hand tenderly stroking your back as you nudged into his neck. You’d be happy when all of this was over.
Note: I got way too impatient and just decided to post this chapter a few hours early, not that y’all are complaining 😂 Let me know what you guys think about everything going on! It’s a lot to take in! 🖤

National Chocolate Chip Day Activities
The fact that chocolate chips were used to break the record of world’s largest cookie is only a testament to their universality, and it’s safe to say that they’ll always have a space on the shelf of any baker.

called a thousand times.
prompt: “did you miss me enough to drink or did you drink enough to miss me?” (orig.)
this drabble is more an exercise in catharsis and serves as my first (!!!) jin piece. i dedicate this to my loves @jinsearthh and @seokjinssi lmao. enjoy!
pairing. ksj x reader. rating. general. tags. angst. but like, not really terrible angst. just semi-bad angst. wc. 1.8k.
The call comes in the dead of night while you’re curled up in linen sheets and comfortably drooling into an unbelievably worn white plush. It buzzes loudly in your ears, vibrating obnoxiously against your pillow. Sleeping with your phone in bed is a bad habit you’ve never really been able to break.
You’re barely awake - caught in that strange in-between land of lucidity - when you hazard a glance at the time and number. 2:47 AM. Far too late for you to be receiving calls - especially from contact you don’t have saved.
“Hello?”
“Hi.” It’s a voice you’d never expected to hear. A voice you haven’t heard in forever, clear as bells through the phone line. “It’s Jin.”
You’re wide awake now.
“Hello?” It’s terribly jarring. It jolts you straight up in the bed that hasn’t felt his warmth in close to three years, every notch of your spine electrified by the simple sound. It rings, bouncing around in your ears.
You should reply. You don’t know how.
“Are you there?” Uncertainty and something else - something heavy and medicinal - coats syllables and turns them into molasses. It drips off each vowel, rounding each consonant. Your entire world feels like it’s spinning, tilted on its axis by this strange happening.
“Jin?” It doesn’t sound how it should - wishful and more than a little surprised. It trips heavy off your tongue, splitting the darkness with the radiance of your hope.
He laughs on the other end. You realise now why he sounds different, the familiar squeak of his amusement dulled by liquor. He’s drunk or at least, on his way to it. The telltale signs are there: the faintest hiccough after every second inhale, the vaguely nasally first syllable, the dulling of his rain-streaked laughter.
“It’s me,” he confirms, far more comfortable than he should be. The relief practically radiates through the phone, further severing the strings that bid you back to bed. “I didn’t know if you’d pick up or if you even had the same number still.”
At least he’s honest, you think.
The conversation is carried on like there’s nothing at all strange, as if he - Kim Seokjin - hasn’t just called up his ex-girlfriend at quarter to three in the morning.
“How are you? Did I wake you up?”
You know your silence is rude. It’s stifling in a way that even he can’t combat, sitting stony between you two as you try to wrap your mind around the current situation.
“Hello?” He repeats, vaguely uncertain but not otherwise bothered. That bothers you.
“Why did you call?” You can’t help the question. It pierces the quiet before you can catch it, disappearing into the night like a thief. It takes with it all of your turmoil, tucking years of hurt in its pockets to wear on its sleeves.
That seems to catch him off guard. He inhales once - a sharp thing, right through his front teeth.
“Ah, yeah. I—“ You wonder whether he’s even given this any thought or if he’s just been driven to it by the beguiling hand of liquor. You wouldn’t put it past him, though he’s never been one to drink himself into bad ideas. He was smarter than that.
He pauses. It’s long, drawn out, punctuated by city sounds you assume come from 27 floors below his apartment. They’re muffled and unrecognisable, the din of Yongsan-gu too faraway.
“I… was thinking of you.”
There’s a strange confidence to his response, a self-assured calm that feels like moments before a storm. It eases uncertainty over your limbs, still wrought with sleep and sluggish. He shouldn’t sound this way after so long, as if he’d never left. A part of it feels nice, warm and welcomed into the cavity behind your ribs, tucked neatly alongside the organ that stutters because of him; the other feels like a knife to the heart, slotted right between the vulnerable spaces you’d shown him.
You echo him in uncertainty. “Thinking of me?”
“I wanted to apologise.”
Now that’s the last thing you’d expected.
“Apologise for what?” Not that there aren’t so many things Jin owes you - so many I’m sorrys that would never make up for the rivers you’d wept, the nights you hadn’t slept.
“How I left things. How we left things.” Something not quite a laugh comes, dresses his words up prettily like a sinner in his Sunday best, eager to learn and repent and do better. “I know I can’t undo the past but I’m sorry for the ways I hurt you.”
It’s so vague even you aren’t sure what he’s referring to. The brief but blinding relationship you’d had with him? The heartbreaking, determined way in which he’d broken up with you? The months thereafter when he’d still warmed your bed, where the strange in-between was no longer between awake and dreams, but love and not-love? The pieces he’d left you to pick up yourself when he’d disappeared, seemingly out of the blue?
“I still think about you a lot. I miss you. I wanted to make it right.” When he backtracks, you realise he’s far smarter than you give him credit for. “—Try to make it right, that is.”
“Why?” You should demand more. You know you should. Yet this is the only thing that comes, dripping like the tears that line your lashes, glittering jewels that you’d trade for even an ounce of understanding.
He hesitates. There’s a clinking glass, ice, and then a thick swallow you can hear quite clearly. “Why? Why what?”
“Why did you leave?” You’re really trying - holding onto composure with a white-knuckled grip that leaves your hands bleeding - but it’s futile. The grief is too much - a thousand pound weight that splits the frayed edge of your composure in a clean line. “Things were…” Weird, strange, undoubtedly a bad idea, as messing with your ex tended to be. “Things were okay, I thought. And then out of nowhere, you were gone. You stopped calling.”
For three long weeks, you’d jolted awake at 3 AM, waiting for the dedicated ringtone to alert you of his call. It never came. You’d waited even longer after that, though you’d learnt to turn your phone to silent.
Months turned to years and then one day, nearly four months later - there he was, displayed as a missed call at just after midnight.
You’d blocked him then, for your own sanity. And then another six months after that, you’d unblocked him. A moment of weakness you’d all but forgotten about until now. You’d figured it wouldn’t matter - that there was no way he’d contact you again. So much time had passed and he was Kim Seokjin; you were nothing but a small blip on his radar - a tiny ink splatter on the story of his life.
“You blocked me.” Or not.
You tuck this knowledge - his knowledge - away into the manila folder you keep stored away in a dusty cabinet, covered in yellow tape that reads Do Not Open.
“Before that. Three years ago.”
“I honestly… don’t remember.” The answer stings, candour a struck match to your already miserable nerves. “It was bad timing, I think. We were on the phone one night. I was heading back from filming and I just remember being so mad.” That doesn’t surprise you. Jin’s temper rages like a wildfire before burning out like a match. Intense but short-lived. “You were having a bad day, too. You’d started your new job and you were stressed out about something not working.”
You recall it clearly - can call to mind exactly what brief you’d been working and how that night had felt awful. You’d hardly slept, almost pushed to tears by the frustration you’d felt. For the life of you, though, you can’t recall an argument. You’d been happy to hear from him - found solace in the sound of his voice, even as you’d worked through pages that made you want to tear your hair out.
“I remember you were dismissive and it just…” You imagine he shrugs, those impossibly wide shoulders of his rolling beneath something soft and sleep-appropriate. His brow’s probably knit, little dent forming between them as always happens when he’s faced with discomfort. “I didn’t want to deal with it.”
It’s an honest answer, which you’re grateful for. It sheds light where there was one.
But it also hurts far more than you’d expected, stirring to life an ugly aching sob in your chest. One night. One night was all it’d taken. The realisation is sobering in its pain.
“And… now you want to apologise for that?” It doesn’t make sense. Not to you, at least, who holds three long years of unrequited love for a man who’d thrown you away over nothing.
“I want to apologise for a lot of stuff.” Things he doesn’t seem ready to articulate just yet, either due to his inebriation or contrition. “I didn’t think you’d pick up, so I’m kind of still working through it in my head.” You can hear his smile, turned playful by alcohol.
It’s like waging war when you speak - your heart against your head. “I don’t think this is a good idea.”
“But… I miss you.”
I miss you too, you almost say.
“Did you miss me enough to drink or did you drink enough to miss me?” Comes hushed instead.
Jin isn’t ready for the conversation. You know he isn’t - can tell by how he inhales shakily, knocks back another drink that rattles ice noisily. “That’s not fair.”
“You’re not fair,” you return in a voice that’s meant to be scathing but seems to have found itself at the bottom of his glass, wet and diluted. “You’re calling me because you feel bad and for whatever reason, you think I’m going to make that go away.”
He’s not wrong - you would, in a heartbeat. But there’s a very big difference between would and should and you’re doing your best to learn what that is, even if it hurts.
“What do you think’s going to happen after I forgive you? Are we just going to go back to our lives like nothing happened?”
“If you want.”
You laugh, a sound that’s brutalised by your own sadness and barely sounds like anything at all. “And what if I don’t want that? What if I want you in my life?”
Another pause, another drink. There’s a part of you that worries for him.
“You know that’s not an option. Not right now. We’ve got so much happening right with our comeback and then enlistment and…” It’s a cop out. You can see it from a mile away, a red flag raised to mock you as Jin speaks. “I can’t give you what you want.”
“Then neither can I.”

I remember only like ten years ago it used to start snowing usually at some point in late October through early-mid November and just. Never fully melted until like April. There used to be snow and ice more of the time than not. And even on those few weird March or February days when it was only just chilled, the ground still wasn't able to really thaw, just a few surface puddles that would refreeze again overnight. It was simply accepted that from roughly the point of the first big snow of the season until the later half of spring the ground was at least somewhat obscured. Last winter it only lightly snowed and flurried a few times, and I had to deal with too many bugs in months when there weren't supposed to be any active outside. That semi-permanent frost was really important.
And as for summer, this year I experienced the haze of wildfire smoke for the first time and it was incredibly unsettling. Summer was never *this* hot. We didn't have these types of extreme storms so often. Drought, drought, drought, then sudden extremely hard downpours and lots of hail. This area was not one considered to be at much risk for tornadoes in the past, but it has become an increasing danger. Summer was always fairly hot, but not overbearingly so. It usually rained or lightly to moderately thunder stormed at least a few times a week. We've also always been part of hurricane season technically, but the frequency and severity of cyclones actually veering up here due to the changing wind patterns and increasingly warm seawater is concerning.
Spring and autumn also both used to be much more mild and gradual of shifts. They were really beautiful to watch and were distinct seasons of their own, with moderate temperatures, crisp winds, and some cold rain. Now, it sort of seems to be blazing summer until it's not, then sort of broken winter until it's suddenly hot again.
It all frightens and angers me.
Climate denialism in the netherlands is so fucking funny like. Bro the floods. They’re coming

can i request a scenario where reader is the sister of ushiwaka and is dating tendou ??? reader is also cold like ushi but when tendou's around, she showers him with so much affection??? and the team is like ?!?!?!?!?!!? how is she not cold thank u for answering one of my asks 🥺👉🏻👈🏻 im literally soft when i read it 🥺🥺 ily!!!
Hey hey, of course you can! Awww thank you for requesting, I love you too, cutie!
Colder Than Ice, Sweeter Than Sugar
It was known that the Ushijimas weren't very...expressive or affectionate or instantly likable for that matter. They only cared for doing the best they could in everything. Emotions were below them.
Y/N was scarier than Ushijima and that was just a fact. Wherever she went, she had this aura, as if she was the ruler of hell and she would see you in it, watching all of the torture happening. When she went to meet Ushijima after practice, the brightness in the room was sucked out by her.
Someone actually stood up to her about it. She acted all nice about it, but rumors spread faster than wildfire. There were rumors that when he didn’t come back, she had hit him with a shovel and burn the body. They believe she blackmailed his whole family into hiding. They believe she had the power to move mountains and lead a massacre.
In reality, she was just cold. She wasn’t close to anyone, except Ushijima.
One day, Y/N walked inside of the gym, where everyone was practicing. During their break, Tendou whispered to Semi, “Watch this.” He walked up to Y/N.
“Tendou, no, you’re going to die.” Semi winced as he got closer to her.
The whole team stopped as they watched what would happen. Tendou was either going to die or something worse. Then something unexpected happened.
Y/N smiled and wrapped her arms around his waist, looking up at him.
He mumbled something and brushed her hair behind her ear and she gave him a kiss on the cheek, making him grin.
“HUH?!” Shirabu almost screamed. “She’s gone insane. She’s psycho, get Tendou out of there, we need him alive!”
“He’s going to die, she’s never shown affection as one of her tactics, what is going on?” Semi asked, panicking.
Tendou gently pulled away from her and kissed her forehead as he walked over to them. “Why are you all staring at me like that?”
They rubbed their eyes as Y/N’s dark aura came back. They believed they were just hallucinating.
However, the next time they practiced, they didn’t anticipate it to happen again. Except this time she full on kissed him in front of everyone and he cupped her face as if it was normal to kiss the coldest human to walk the planet.
“Y/N, are we leaving or not?” Ushijima asked as he slung his bag over his shoulder.
“Wait, hold on, what is going on, Tendou?!” Goshiki asked.
Tendou looked at him. “This is my lovely girlfriend!”
The whole team screamed, “WHAT?! But she’s so cold!”
“Yeah, but I still love her!”
“Y/N, let’s go!” Ushijima commanded.”
“Oh, shut up, I’ll get there soon.” Y/N said as she pecked Tendou’s forehead and followed Ushijima.
Everyone wanted answers from Tendou.

Apocalyptic Undertale AU IC?
Been working on an Undertale AU story based on an apocalyptic/zombie-type dream I had. Lemmie know if you’d be interested in reading it?
Summary: AU where Humans were the ones trapped Underground and Monsters had control of the Surface. Humans had escaped and began living with Monsterkind peacefully until some many years later, a virus hit and began plaguing both Humans and Monsters alike. At first, this disease claimed many lives until a vaccine that was supposed to help, caused the virus to morph into something else entirely. This new threat was called the Parafronvirus- or the Mad Fever.
Now, the world is in a semi-apocalyptic state from this virus that is turning both Humans and Monsters alike into feral beasts. With this threat spreading like wildfire and throwing the world into chaos, hope seems lost; but neither Humans nor Monsters are going to give up trying to find a way to fix this.
Details: Basically, like a zombie virus mixed with rabies, with a little something else sprinkled in. The disease completely throws the victim’s sanity and humanity out the door, causing them to attack anything or anyone on sight. They are capable of speech and general thought but are basically turning into crazy, mass murderers/cannibals. Monsters affected by this disease are obviously more powerful, while Humans affected are harder to take down.
Victims of the disease are called Ferals and there are subspecies of Ferals depending on how they act- you know, like your zombie classes. We got our ‘Fresh’ Ferals which are newly turned Fearals that are kinda dumb and easy to take down, our ‘Basic’ (Stage 1) Ferals that are a bit more intelligent and harder to take down, our ‘Adepts’ (Stage 2) who are scarily intelligent and can set up things like ambushes and formulate actual plans, and finally our ‘Anomolies’ (Stage 3) which are just as smart as an unaffected Human or Monster with scary power to boot.
Mostly going to focus on Sans, Alphys, and OC, though most of the Undertale cast will be playing large roles as well. Alphys and Sans are obviously trying to find a cure for this disease and trying to figure out where it came from. Obviously, it isn’t normal for a virus to evolve and spread so rapidly from a vaccine trying to cure it. Alphys has done extensive research into the virus and vaccine, but while something seems off, she can’t quite put her finger on it.The victims of the disease started off as feral lunatics with little to cognitive ability- attacking anything on sight; but the virus has rapidly evolved through the years and the victims are now far more dangerous and intelligent- almost as if the disease has enhanced their physical and magical ability at the cost of their sanity.
Also, some Sans/OC thrown in there for you romance lovers (das me, I’m the romance lover lol), but definitely not the focus of the story and probably won't be very common either. Just to add some spicy drama and angst to the horror.
It will no doubt be either mature or explicit for those gory bits (and maybe some smut later? IDK). Warnings of violence, killing, lots of gore, some major character death probably, and more than likely some pretty foul language.
