[Travel / Beer] 17 Spots on Vancouver’s North Shore Ale Trail
[Travel / Beer] 17 Spots on Vancouver’s North Shore Ale Trail
Mr. and I got a taste of our post-pandemic world while exploring Vancouver’s North Shore Ale Trail for three days in early July. That’s 16 long months after the first COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020! We checked out a total of 17 spots in North Vancouver, including 9 craft breweries. On our trip, we made a stop at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, kayaked for 3 hours in Deep Cove, explored the…

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [EN] Wildeye is not a German brewery, but perhaps because of the heat, we only took the classic, light and refreshing beers from the German Origin Styles: Pilsner, Kolsch, Gose and Hefeweizen. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Czech Pilsner was wonderful, period. German Kolsch has a biscuit flavor and a slight lemon, which persists in the aftertaste. Sunday Market is a Gose with lots of strawberry flavored with cardamom and fermented with a house strain of lactobacillus. By the way I thought the name went really well with the beer. Finally, After the Rain is a fruity and well balanced, but bright Hefeweizen. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There are many food options. We chose the Soft Pretzel & Beer Mustard to pairing with the beers. It was such a good choice, it was delicious, one of the best I've ever eaten here. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I always say that the service completely changes the experience of a place. So I must mention that the service was very friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ check #beerVancouverMoB for all the breweries I visited in and around the city. #6125 Wildeye Czech Pilsner (Canada)
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve had much BC stuff so I was stoked to get hold of this bad boy thanks to @danimalweb! Coming in at 4.8%, this is my first brew from North Van’s Wildeye, a traditional style Czech Pils. It pours clear with a soapy, bubbly head and a bread crust nose, the body is round and crisp, a little dry, mild bitterness, cracker vibes, grassy and earth, a touch fruity and citrusy, super easy drinking with a dry, clean finish. Super solid stuff, get it in ya! (at Montreal, Quebec) https://www.instagram.com/p/CLQPHpJlnQB/?igshid=1sho172n6o1s5

It started as a dream and with lots of hardwork and dedication, Wildeye Brewing was created right here on the North Shore. Visiting this brewery is always such a treat as it boasts North Vancouver’s largest tasting room. When covid hit and everything was forced to adapt, the true evolution of what the brewery was meant to be was created turning into the largest brewery patio on the North Shore. It’s hard to believe that Wildeye only had it’s one year anniversary a few weeks ago as it truly has become a staple among the craft beer scene in North Vancouver.
When stepping into the brewery you’ll definitely be impressed with the large, beautiful, modern tasting room which is a perfect spot to grab a drink or a bite from. Their kitchen has a variety of delicious goods, but must-trys have to be: The Nacho’s which are more along the line of a spanish inspired take of nachos and an awesome grilled cheese which uses a local favorite bad dog bread and a delicious smoked havarti.

Deep Cove Brewing - Mandarin Oat Pale Ale
DEEP COVE BREWING - MANDARIN OAT PALE ALE REVIEW As part of our recent North Vancouver brew tour, the @BeerSeekers stopped in at venerable Deep Cove Brewing. We chose the easy-drinking Mandarin Oat Pale Ale as our take-away homework. This is one of those beers that defies classification, qualifying as a Pale Ale on the basis of its colour and yeast type, but not so much as a traditional English or Northwest pale. Definitely worth experiencing.
As part of our recent North Vancouver brew tour, the BeerSeekers stopped in at venerable Deep Cove Brewing. Tucked away in suburbia (on the way to Deep Cove, not actually in the eponymous hamlet), Deep Cove is located a short taxi or bus ride from Bridge Brewing and Wildeye Brewing. Their sizeable facility would dwarf the members of the Shipyards Brewery District were it to suddenly materialize…

Streetcar Brewing – Spiced Pear Popsicle Sour
STREETCAR BREWING – SPICED PEAR POPSICLE SOUR REVIEW This weekend, North Vancouver's Shipyards Brewery District was set to hold an eagerly-anticipated Easter Craft Beer Crawl...until the recent COVID lockdown scuttled plans. If you can get to North Vancouver however, you can ease the loss by stopping at any of the Brewery District's members and grabbing some beer to go. Here for your convenience is one of our hot tips: the Spiced Pear Popsicle Sour from the petite Streetcar Brewing. Get it while they still have a few crowlers left (or if it's gone, get something else), then make plans for a Hoppy Easter at home.
In this series, Beer Me BC is pleased to preview an upcoming What’s Brewing BC feature on the North Vancouver brewing scene. In our first installment, we looked at Wildeye Brewing. Now we spotlight another hidden gem North Van brewery. Streetcar Brewing: look for this sign in the back lane Today, Beer Me BC is happy to review its first-ever beer from Streetcar Brewing. This tucked-away tasting…
