Chilling Effects by Valerie Valdes. A crazy fun space opera romp that follows a loca Latina starship captain and her equally crazy crew. There's plenty of pastilitos and a hanger full of psychic cats.🐈🐈🐈 👉Book I'll Always Recommend. Long before GRRM unleashed his dragons on Westeros, there were the the Dragonriders of Pern by Anne Mccaffery. And no, it might look like fantasy novel, but it's set on a planet terraformed by Earth colonists and the genetically engineered dragons are emphathic. They have a bond with their riders until death. Lessa has had to hide herself in servitude to avoid death, but the Riders are searching for a rider for their Queen. Can she do it?🐲 👎Book I Didn't Like. The Power by Naomi Alderman. I actually really like this book but I have to admit it was very heavy and seriously depressing. I get that was what the author was going for. The ending was like What??? I still recommend it with a disclaimer. 💍Character I'd Marry. It would have to be the mysterious and enigmatic Captain Singh from Arabella of Mars by David D. Levine. This is a fun Steampunk trilogy reminiscent of Burroughs, Verne and Wells. Young Arabella stows aboard a ship headed to Mars and disguises herself as a cabin boy. Singh is extremely perplexed as to why he finds his new yeoman so attractive. 🤔 🤞Pinky Swear to Read. Aurora by Kim Stanley Robinson. I love all of this author's books. This one is about a generational ship on her way to Tau Ceti. The main protagonists are women and there's a mysterious AI too. Looks great. Phew!!! Just finished this book and I absolutely loved it. While it’s meant to be a kind of self help that gets you to focus on the positive, I found the that it was also a great story. It kind of teaches you in a way that you don’t realise, making it not as preachy as some I’ve read.
