The funniest thing an angel can do is defy expectations. Unless, you expect angels to be horrid, malicious creatures, in that case, the funniest thing an angel can do is prove you right.

Nathaniel makes sure to lean over his momentary companion's shoulder just close enough it's more uncomfortable than comfortable, and tips his forefinger against his chin. His other hand is calmly resting behind his back. He seems to be staring at the bubbling, foul-smelling, most likely poisonous monstrosity with some sort of scientific curiosity.

Up until the moment said scientific curiosity vanishes off his features and the smile to take its place takes on a wicked touch, as some European in the 16th century might have put it.

tw: hospitals, surgery eric paces from around the corner, grabbing his surgical cap and stuffing it into his scrubs pocket, he reached the waiting area full of loved ones wringing their hands. an atmosphere of tension, one of the few places on earth where silence could feel so unbelievably loud, there loved ones waiting for the results of surgeries. today, eric’s routine procedure went off without a hitch. almost perfect he might add, and eric had pretty high standards set for himself for the benefit of his patients. he meets the familiar face across the room, only briefly meeting them on the patients arrival “thank you for waiting. i know the procedure took longer than expected, but we wanted to make sure we didn’t rush. i’m happy to say it went incredibly well, and he’s now in recovery resting.” with a gentle nod, and a warm smile to match, eric stretches back at his shoulder muscles. “currently only family can come in to visit. are you his next of kin?”

alright, but... it seems like i am in a mood for angst this morning because just imagine this: misao meeting someone that reminds her so much of ryu and having all of her childhood memories just rush back to her in one foul swoop despite the fact that she's tried really hard to bury them. because if misao allowed herself to think about them for a second, i have a feeling she would just completely breakdown because misao doesn't even have a picture of him or anything, so she forgot what he looks like and what his voice sounds like. so even if she saw him on the streets of gotham... misao wouldn't even recognize him because it's been so long.

and the fact that she has become like a ' human ' in that aspect somewhat enrages her because misao secretly HATES having to pretend like she is anything but who she is + like i believe i have talked about once but didn't get super deep into talking about, is that she may or may not distrust humans automatically upon meeting them. though this sense has lessened over the years, it is still slightly there due to her mother's death haunting her. and being forced to face her past like this where misao is not prepared for it mentally would be kind of devastating for her, NGL. (but y'all should totally give misao someone who reminds her of ryu anyhow, and i'm not saying that to be evil or anything. i'm just saying it because there has to be some way that she works through her issues eventually and with the way she is now... i don't think that misao would be willing to open up to someone else about them. so something has to act on her externally. )

it’s not in shri’iia’s canon just because killing minty is one of the catalyst that leads to her being dropped from lolth’s favour but I’m doing a playthrough where you recruit minthara by knocking her out and now I’m thinking how interesting her dynamic would be with shri’iia. like they’re both lolth-sworn paladins in the oath of vengeance —or for shri’iia’s case, was, since she’s now an oathbreaker and she swore a new oath. out of everyone they understand each other’s circumstances the most. they both knew what it was like to live in a society where lies and deceit run rampant and you’re paranoid 24/7, and how a god that promises unwavering love and warmth could’ve been appealing because the only god that you’ve ever known is one that you were born to fear and to serve. and they both know what it is like to go to the surface and have virtually no allies and no-one to turn to and the mere sight of you would earn distrust.

but the difference between them is that minthara is born with the prestige that came with being a baenre, shri’iia literally had to give nearly her entire self to get a taste of that power. and for two people who formerly lived in such a hierarchal society where your social class determined how you were treated, that shift of dynamic where minthara - former noble - now has follow shri’iia– a merchant’s daughter —is so interesting, I think. respecting that hierarchy would be ingrained in them so I think it would take some getting used to, like I could see minthara treating her like an underling and/or shri’iia having to remind herself that minthara is not her boss lol

and I think the difference in their path and where they choose to take their oath is interesting as well. minthara who swore vengeance against the enemies of lolth is continuing to follow that path of vengeance but now she’s swearing vengeance against the cult of the absolute. shri’iia who was once in that same path of vengeance decides to pursue the path of freedom instead. she broke ties with her past oath and reforged it to something else; she’s not bound to any dogma or higher being, she’s now pursuing freedom and free will and she’s punishing those who binds others against their will. and it plays well with their characters where minthara is still very unapologetically herself as in she’s still a cunt lmfao and we love her for that whereas shri’iia does try to be better, and she is learning how to be kinder (but she’s kind, not nice…!!) but she still has a long way to go… but it’s all part of her journey …!

but it’s so interesting to me …!!! because they seem so similar but they’re just very, very different with where they choose to take their newfound freedom away from lolth
