Angron's Heresy - A 40k/World Eaters Fic
So I wrote a small thing, only 2k words for once lol. It's a bit of an idea I've had ringing around my head for a couple of days, and I decided to put it to paper today, so let me know what you think :)
Summary:
The battle for Terra rages as daemons and traitors rampage across the planet. In a desperate last gambit, the loyalist forces, including the very Emperor himself teleport aboard the Warmaster's ship, the Conqueror.
Fueled by all four Chaos Gods, Warmaster Angron prepares to face the Master of Mankind, and achieve vindication for his years of suffering.
But it's Horus Lupercal, loyal son of the Emperor, that first reaches the Red Angel, discovering the fallen Primarch at the height of his power. The odds are stacked against him, but Horus is determined to end his rebellion once and for all.
(This is a "What If" for the end of the Horus Heresy, where Angron is Warmaster instead of Horus)
(CW: for some bloody violence, it's an Angron story after all)

re: A lot of people getting into Ferrus and getting the reading that he was another needlessly cruel and sadistic guy from the likes of Kurze, Angron, Perturabo, etc
I like seeing Ferrus as the most impersonal ''Force of Nature'' of all the Primarchs, very Veni Vedi Vici, from the acknowledgement from Horus as Ferrus as a warmaster that could match his prowess, Ferrus was an absolute war machine because he knew his place as a tool of the Emperor. Doesn't mean that he didn't have an ego (another opinion many have which I find nonsensical) his ego was HUGE but it was laid upon the basis and pride that he was his father's most efficient weapon. Probably the reason he couldn't be swayed to betray the Emperor and there wasn't even a sliver of doubt in him, he already knew the truth that disturbed his humanistic brother who took so much pride in being acknowledged and admired by the people he conquered; and he was more than okay with it. He never expected love from the people he conquered, nor relished in the fear of his enemies. ''He was war. War at its most brutal.'' He was brutal in a Mccarthian antagonist way where you can't find any explanation to the character's evil deeds, other than it is the character's pure unadultered nature.

For Mating March: what would you think each Primarch specific kink would be?
Gonna stick to one or two kinks each for this also I'm going based on vibes:
Lion: He will often take you where ever you are at the time, even if it's a risky place to do it.He doesn't get off on the idea of potentially being caught. He gets off on getting away with it. Fulgrim: He enjoys painting you and making an absolute mess out of the paint he put on you, by fucking you and then making a print by pressing you to a canvas. He has a collection of these.
Perturabo: He enjoys bondage but with really complicated devices. He also gets off on being praised and feeling valued, during the deed. Jaghatai Khan: What's to do you on his bike while riding. Also he doesn't pull out. You're getting the cream pie.
Leman Russ: Predator/Prey dynamics, he's giving you a ten minute head start to book it into the woods. Better make those ten minutes count cause when he catches you, you're gonna want to be far enough away that no one can hear what he's doing to you. (Unless you're into that)
Rogal Dorn: No guy who makes a full body pain glove is normal okay. He wants you to do your best to make him come while he tries to hold off as long as possible. Also maybe a bit of pain play. Konrad Curze: Blood play, knife play, also predator/prey dynamics but it'd gonna be a lot more dangerous for you when he finds you. He will however give you aftercare if he's in the right mindset.
Sanguinius: Body worship, it goes both ways, also praising. He may get a bit bitey sometimes also. Ferrus Manus: Pretty standard rough sex, a bit of breeding, sensory play involving temperature. Angron: You gotta restrain him, it's not even a kink at this point it's for your safety.
Roboute Guilliman: Breeding, also if you bring him things while he's working to give him little breaks and lots of love that gets him going. He just needs your love and support. That's the biggest turn on for him.
Mortarion: I feel like he enjoys a challenge, and if you tease him throughout the day he's not gonna show it but he's gonna be rock hard till he gets you in bed later. And then you'll get to see his famed endurance first hand.
Magnus: He enjoys having his ego stroked, and when you show off a bit of book smarts. Also rub him down with some body oil. Horus: He is a power top who gets off on being called Warmaster or Master in bed. He's also not opposed to taming you and making you submit to him.
Lorgar: You are his kink. If he's pursuing you then it doesn't matter what else is going on in bed. As long as it involves you. And maybe some genuine sentiments of love.
Vulkan: MATING in all caps. He's also gonna pound you on his anvil the same way he does a new weapon.
Corvus corax: He wants to find you, hide and seek style. Another one where you'd better hope you hid in a place far enough from other people. Also risky business in public, like making you sit on his knee while he rubs you off under the table.
Alpharius: He and Omegon like to share you. Both at the same time. Sex is never a private affair for those two.

You know, I love power imbalances. It’s always interesting to write about serfs. But since I value art (Serve the 3rd Legion), I prefer the remembrancers. And I decided to think about which particular remembrancers would be most interesting to write about relationships with the primarchs. Here is the list:
Documentarist (Journalist): Horus Lupercal, Roboute Guilliman.
For the first, it is important to feel his importance and self-centeredness. Write down his story as vividly as possible so that everyone understands how wonderful he is and how hard he tries. How much people should appreciate him and respect the title of Warmaster. Well, over time, you will truly become a personal documentarist when he decides to reveal to you the personal aspects of his life. So this time you have appreciate how wonderful he is.
The second needs a documentarist to record the history of the Imperium. He respects your order. And your personality. Because you are not a sycophant and write everything as it is. In 40k he needs a documentarist so that everyone will start seeing him again as a man and not a god. Alas, you will have to write down even the strangest things, such as “In such year, Guilliman could not lift a piece of paper because his armor was in the way. He joked. Cato didn’t laugh.”
Imagist: Alpharius/Omegon, Corvus Corax, Lion El'Jonson.
Simple and functional. You stay out of the way and photograph important events that can be studied later. And considering your profession, you have quite a high level of insight. And this attracts such hidden and suspicious individuals as these primarchs.
Historiographer (Historian): Magnus the Red, Jaghatai Khan, Leman Russ
The thirst for knowledge and the desire to understand the past will definitely bring you and Magnus together. You will literally be on the same page, discussing many events from different angles.
Well, given the fact that you are a historian, everything is interesting to you. Including a foreign culture that you respect and try to understand. At this moment, Jaghatai Khan is already taking you away on a bike.
And since you know that history can write one-sided personalities, you understand that something deep may be hiding behind the barbarian. You know it's a façade. At this moment, Leman is already throwing you over his shoulder.
Musician: Angron, Mortarion, Konrad Curze.
The way your fingers gently touch the instrument, the compositions you create. But the most important thing is your voice. Reminiscent of the rustling of leaves or the murmur of a river. Feels like fog. The best reassurance for unstable primarchs like these trio.
Painter: Fulgrim, Sanguinius.
These art lovers will love all the remembrancers. But I am sure that they will give preference to painters. Because they paint the real world as they see it. Because they would like to see the world like that and so on. A real space for imagination that knocks primarchs off their feet. And if, in addition to your talent, you also have your own different opinion about art (+ perfection), then at that very second you will have a very artistic admirers.
Sculptor: Perturabo, Dorn, Ferrus Manus.
Well, there’s no need to rant too much here. The first two primarchs regularly play with large-sized Lego. So it will be much easier for them to communicate with a sculptor who will understand them at least a little. But yes, praise from them is also like a stone. Ferrus Manus loves art, but not to the same extent as Fulgrim. A sculptor would be much more suited to Manus's aesthetic views than a painter or musician.
Wordsmith (author): Lorgar Aurelian.
Lorgar is a preacher, so he will be fascinated by a remembrancer with oratory skills. Or more precisely, someone who can turn words into something beautiful. What thousands of people will re-read or listen to.
Vulkan…no idea really. But let's say Wordsmith, because the word has “smith” :)

Primarch ranking list?
I made this list ages ago, expecting for it to change a lot the more I read, but only two primarchs have changed position for me thus far.
Perturabo is now number one, and Horus (if the spoiler that I heard about the last Horus Heresy book is true) is now at the absolute bottom.
Rogal Dorn - He is the best and the emperor's favourite for a reason. He is hard working, has the best humor, he is just great. He is what I wished I was.
Roboute Guilliman - Roboute is so painfully relatable, he can fix EVERYTHING but himself. He is such a misunderstood character by the fans in general. Give him a chance, he is delightful.
Perturabo - Is also very relatable, but in the worst way possible. He is petty, jealous and cares too much about a world that doesn't give two shits about him. He thinks he has a good poker face but he doesn't so he comes across as even more unlikeable. He is wonderful to read about.
Horus - I swear, he is the last relatable one. Him getting severe impostor syndrome when he was made Warmaster and then falling apart from the pressure... I felt that in my soul.
Angron - I know very little about him to be honest, but he was such a delight in False Gods. I love him.
Konrad Curze - I Love his Primarch book, he is so unapologetically fucked up. I love his tactics.
Fulgrim - I feel kind of “meh” about him. I should like him more, he checks all the boxes for a character I should like but so far I like his legion more than him
Ferrus Manus - Don't know much about him, would probably be higher if I did. Mid tier.
Leman Russ - I used to HATE him but I'm warming up a bit. I like the himbo energy and that he stops playing dumb when called out.
Lorgar - Another one I used to hate but I have to respect a guy who is right so often even if he is a douche.
Jaghatai Khan - I need to read more about him.
Sanguinius - Sad, pretty vampires are cringe, angel wings are even cringeier. If he was more cool about it he would be 20% cooler, I feel Fulgrim would have rocked his looks and legion better.
Lion’el Johnson - Most of my friends are autistic (you pretty much have to be to like me), but Lion feels like the guy who talks about his special interest for hours and then tells you that he doesn't care when you talk about yours.
Alpharius - He is kind of cringe but gets bonus points since he reminds me of one of my larp characters.
Corax - what happens when you order Nighthaunter on wish.
Vulkan - to be fair, I have read very little about him. all I know is that he hugs people and lets his Astartes keep humans as pets. DO NOT WANT!
Magnus - I don't like magic or magic users. He feels like someone whose own life is a fucking mess and still gives you unbidden advice. Top-tier mansplainer.
Mortarion - Whiny fucking bitch without having the skills to back it up (Like Perturabo). Legit said that his upbringing was worse than Angrons. Also the master of double standards. Fuck em.

Codex entry: The Reconciliators Blackshields
Summary: The Horus Heresy left scars in every Legion, scars that would heal overtime in different ways; some would split into Chapters or Warbands serving both the Imperium or Chaos, others disappeared with a blaze of glory for what they believed in. But as all wars, the Heresy left orphans behind, Marines without Legion nor a place to return to.
These are the Reconciliators, these are those who yearn to be forgiven.
Goblin tag squad (lemme know if you wanna get tagged too): @finchly-tintinnabulation @cardinalcanis @jaghatai-khock @echo-of-damnation @meervalv0
Go easy on the Night Lord friends
Background Information:
After doing a very risky travel to save their lives, the blackshields known as Reconciliators traveled through the warp to save their lives as best as they could when the events known as "Horus heresy" were taking place; however the storms of the inmaterium left them in a time and place unknown to them.
It was the 41 millennium, far in the future for the Marines that had survived the travel, everything they had known had changed and now the Reconciliators had to quickly adapt to the modern times or get crushed under the new galaxy they had found themselves in.
Blackshield Leader
Real Name: Sobedrek Darren
Code Name/Nickname: Innocent (on missions)
Equipment:
Grey painted Mark V power armor, left shoulder pads filled with parchments of repentance.
Bolter with many replaced parts throughout the years, Sobedrek calls it "Mess"
Background:
One of the Terran Astartes that had joined the Sons of Horus a few wars before the Heresy, Sobedrek found about the betrayal of the Warmaster after the attorcities of Isstvan V.
Ashamed for his actions on that cursed planet, he made an oath to reach Holy Terra again and repent for the sins he had committed; when the chance came in a war against the Salamanders, Sobedrek took a thunderhawk and fled the planet; only to crash in another planet where there were a few World Eaters renegades fighting for their life. Sobredek joined them and together managed to escape, but not without heavy losses
Important member 1
Real Name: Jerathel
Code Name/Nickname: Dammed (in missions)
Role: Melee combat tactics
When in battle silence is not enough, when the supplies are too scarce to waste on recovering more, the Dammed rises from amongst their brothers to lead them into close combat encounters, leaving a trail of blood behind
Equipment:
Jerathel is equipped with his original combat armor from the days of when he was a World Eater, the symbol of the loyal War Hounds has been painted on his chest and it is the only part in his entire armor not painted grey.
Background:
Born and tested on Bodt to prove his worth many millenia ago, Jerathel was negated the right to fight with his brothers amongst the stars and remained on his planet training those who would fight alongside the primarch. However he started to doubt the loyalty of the World Eaters when Angron instructed the use of the Butcher's Nails, reluctantly agreeing to the process and hiding his doubts for later.
Jerathel throughout the years hearing of the news about the accomplishments of his legion discovered that they would soon follow down a path Jerathel wasn't going to take. Against all orders he abandoned Bordt to search for others like him who didn't trust his primarch. And so when the true loyalty of the World Eaters was revealed in Isstvan, Jerathel was far away enough to start a counter attack against his former primarch
Important Member 2
Real Name: Dareyon
Code Name/Nickname: Healey (on missions)
Role:
Every disease must be cured, every wound must be disinfected, and who better to guide the apothecaries of the Reconciliators if not an expert on the toxic and harmful substances that could kill a marine in days if not treated well such as Dareyon. Whose knowledge on the healing of his brothers never had been put in doubt
Equipment:
Having to always wear a mask that allows him to breathe the toxins of his homeplanet to survive, Dareyon may seem inoffensive or weak at first. His armor wears no signs of being ever used in combat, nor his bone colored armor had been ever filled with parchments or war trophies. Wherever he goes, his brothers know that his Narthecium will never fail to save their lives
Background:
Considered by his peers as "too soft" for the Death Guard, Dareyon was always casted aside, never in the receiving end of the glory or praises by his skill at healing. Instead as a apothecary Dareyon was only expected to fulfill his duties whenever they were needed and nothing more, it was just a tool for the legion and nothing more than that.
Left to die when the betrayal was at its peak, Dareyon had to fight tooth and nail to survive however he could against all odds. Only he knows what he had seen and lived to be where he stands today; but sadly Dareyon may probably never tell about the events that lead him to be hiding inside the ship
Here comes sexy Night Lord man btw
Important member 3
Real Name: Talrifel Tryvge
Code Name/Nickname: Eye (on missions)
Role:
While the Reconciliators are busy getting all of the food, ammunition and gene-seed that they can gather, Eye is always covering their backs from the distance with his reliable skills at long range combat and fear tactics; that are always welcome by his brothers
Equipment:
Talrifel armor is not as pale in comparison with the other members of the blackshields, his armor is still painted with the same dark blue that he used back in his days of being a Night Lord. As a way of remembering his previous life Talrifel collects eyes from the fallen enemies he kills, having made two collars already displayed on his neck. He has never grown too much attached to one singular weapon, usually discarding them when he finds another one in better conditions, snipers are his favorite
Background:
Talrifel was the rare case amongst the Night Lords where he was already considered an outcast by his own brothers as he never fully grown attached to anyone other than the dead; which is why he always loved to roam around the apothecarion seeing the wounded.
Eventually his own legion abandoned Tryvge to die in some planet far away where no one could save him. Or so he was destined to die there, but when a group of blackshields landed on his planet looking for resources, Talrifel took advantage of the situation.

𝐅*𝐜𝐤 𝐀𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐎𝐮𝐭, 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐲 𝐄𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
note: *Horny Heresy inTENSIFIES*; take this seriously. or don't. your choice. just keep fucking around and finding out.
Lion El'Jonson - You always wondered what a visibly frustrated Lion would look like but you didn't have the self-awareness to fucking STOP until it was too late. And so here you are, hands bound in shackles, suspended bare before the First himself. For a while, he said and did nothing save for his eyes roving along the contours of your body. That was soon replaced with a curious hand and the moan you let out was heretical, indeed.
Fulgrim - It's a... miracle you can walk. And talk. And still breathe. Mmm... you weren't expecting that out of Fulgrim were you? You look like you've fought a battle and lost while nary a hair is out of place on his head.
Perturabo - Turns out he's not an ass with a martyr complex where it counts. He's still an ass, though... who ironically has a nice ass. Who knew that armor hid so much. Bastard. He may or may not like when you smack it.
Jaghatai Khan - Simply put, you found out on his bike. You were stumbling for a bit afterward.
Leman Russ - Well you didn't have to fuck around for long. In fact, Leman was practically waiting for the moment to pounce, and pounce he did. There's a reason why he's The Wolf King because Leman had you howling all throughout the night, dear.
Rogal Dorn - Perhaps the most surprising encounter of the Primarch. Dorn has some freak bitch tendencies, let me tell ya. All the signs were there what with his fondness for the Pain Glove.
Konrad Curze - *stares in judgemental Sevatar.*
Sanguinius - Watching him succumb to his lust was so beautiful. He had you right where he wanted you, enveloped tightly in his arms, embraced fully with his wings. The Brightest One's eyes are so clouded with a feral desire. He leaned down, pressed a tentative kiss on the pulse of your neck, and you were putty in his arms.
Ferrus Manus - Yeah, Ferrus is many things but when it comes to the matter of the flesh, um... yeah, you had to make the first move. He's got the spirit, though.
Angron - Whew. You fucked around and found out, alright. You riled Angron up so much, all you remember is him growling, muttering something in his native Nucerian tongue, and the next thing you know, your clothes were in tatters around you and he looked feral as he eyed your naked body. Oh.
Roboute Guilliman - Turns out he's a fan of office sex; you fucked around so much that Guilliman had your ass finding out on his desk. With his head buried between your legs. Please be quiet, my dear. There are people beyond those four walls. And yes, please run your fingers through his hair some more. Tug on it a little, too.
Mortarion - *stares in seventy times seven whilst surrounded by seven of the Death Guard.*
Magnus the Red - You thought Guilliman was the only one who liked it when you pulled his hair? Comes with a side of... pleasurable Warp shenanigans.
Horus Lupercal - The hoochiest of the hoochie daddies. The Primarch meets your bullshit with the most blissfully arrogant smile ever and proceeds to keep you up the entire night, reminding you why the Emperor named him Warmaster. Those tactics in the bedroom are devastating, babe. You're practically a zombie the next day.
Lorgar Aurelian - D'aww, look at Lorgar's inner dom coming out. All that resentment came out in one of the best hatefucks of your life. Kudos to you, darling.
Vulkan - You fuck around and find out and it turns into an all-night bear hug bonanza. But naked.
Corvus Corax - He puts his abilities to... good use. "Nevermore", quoth the Raven as he pulled you into the comfortable embrace of the darkness and made you his wonderful Lenore.
Alpharius Omegon - GOTTA FUCK 'EM ALL! ALPHA LEGION!

How do you think the primarchs react when their loved ones broke with them?
You dare broke with a primarch?
Bold move, I have to admit. The balls on that, though. That's some serious bravery. Or lunacy. Or both. Could be both.
He would be sad but he would be fine and move on: Khan, Vulkan, Guilliman, Dorn.
Really, Khan and Vulkan wouldn't bother thinking about it for too long. Both can just handle it and move past it. Dorn would feel very conflicted inside, but he wouldn't show any weakness. He's too tough. Guilliman might just shrug and say "Well, my life's shit."
He is very sad: Corax
Corax would be the kind to just lock himself in a room and just mope for days and days, maybe write some poetry about what happened. As for the other party? Oh, you'd better watch out, because when Corax is sad, he's mean.
He said he's fine but he's not fine. Yes, but….: Sanguinius, Fulgrim, Horus.
If Sanguinius gets mad at you, you are not fine. He will hold a grudge until you either get down on your knees and beg for forgiveness or he ends you. In the past, he's done either one without much thought. He is far, far more frightening than his calm disposition would lead you to believe.
Fulgrim is similar, though not so extreme (or more extreme). He is a man of high emotion and of deep ego. You'd have to grovel before him and accept full responsibility for your mistake.
Horus? He is the fucking Warmaster! How dare you dumped him like that!!!
You are not dumped him, he dumped you: Lion, Ferrus, Perturabo.
Lion would just stand in your presence and stare, unmoving, unblinking, and silent. The sheer aura of authority and the power of his will alone is enough to make someone feel terrible, but the fact that you're still standing there? The fact that you haven't started running? That has him very upset.
Ferrus and Perturabo would get pissed. I mean pissed. They'd be fuming, they'd be seeing red, they'd be seething from every pore, and their eyes would go wide as they try to figure out the right words to yell at you. But they won't say a word and then they'd hold a grudge for years.
You broke up with him but he doesn't know or notice it. Until one day he realized you two broke up: Magnus, Russ.
Magnus would be confused as hell. He'd probably think he might be losing his mind or some warp something, and start freaking out. And then he become utterly furious. So much so that the galaxy itself would probably shake a little, and it wouldn't take him long to find you either. You'd never be able to hide from him.
Russ, meanwhile, would not even notice until someone else points it out. Even then, he might not understand. That's how oblivious he is. But if he knows, he would pleased at being single again, since that means he can go back to doing what he likes the most: hunting and killing, with occasional breaks to relax and drink with the boys on the weekend. Yes, that would be a coping mechanism. Russ would tell himself it was fine and move on, but he'd be lying a bit to himself.
You should've ghosted him right after the first date (or didn't go to the first date). But no, you gave him a chance and entered his life. Now you have to deal with it. Run! : Angron, Mortarion, Lorgar, Konrad.
Like I said, just run, don't ask.
You can't broke up with him: Alpharius & Omegon
You can try, but I genuinely don't think you could.

The Redemptor Roses ("Fulgrim's Faithful")
In the Grim Darkness of the Far Future, there is only war.
The return of the Emperor’s Avenging Son, Robuote Guilliman, has kindled the Era Indomitus, in which the Empire’s ailing defenses have been shored up, and glorious offensives finally undertaken against the forces of Chaos, which have long had mankind on the defensive. It is an era of hope and glory of a kind unseen since the Horus Heresy.
Yet in the dark immediately preceding Guilliman’s return, and the unveiling of the Primaris Marines, a desperate Imperium was forced to consider other, less savory prospects for restoring the Empire’s strength and filling in the holes in the Adeptus Astartes’ defenses. One of these prospects, was itself, ironically rooted in the opposing side of the Horus Heresy that had left the Empire so broken.
Guilliman had not yet returned. The Imperium did not yet know of the plans to restore the Avenging Son to life. The Space Marines were battered, Cadia had fallen, and the imperium was left reeling from the after effects of Abbaddon’s 13th Black Crusade. Gene-seed stores were, as far as anyone knew, the lowest they’d been in millennia. It was a time of darkness and desperation. In this dark time, the High Lords of Terra conspired to create a light, and it would come from a most unexpected source: the gene seed of their mortal enemy. The only gene-seed stores the Imperium retained in great quantity at this time were those of the Traitor Legions, left unused for fear of the risk that crafting new Space Marines from sources that had ultimately turned traitor might present. But, desperate times, as they say, call for desperate measures, and the need to defend the Imperium was paramount.
After much deliberation, the order was reluctantly given.
A test run.
A single Astartes Chapter, forged from the gene seed of one of the traitor Primarchs, powerful enough to be of use, but not so powerful that they couldn’t be eliminated if they Fell.
The Primarch was chosen with great care. Some, like Angron, had to be discounted out of hand – even before the collapse of the World Eaters and their Primarch into joining the Heresy, they had been possessed by an intrinsic violence. Pre-Heresy behavior had to be noted as much as their Corrupted behavior. For several years, The High Lords, Inquisition, and Adeptus Administratum scoured Imperial records that had not been used in over 10,000 years, studying their options carefully.
In the end, they came to three options: Horus Himself, Magnus the Red, or Fulgrim - the Phoenician of the Emperor’s Children. Horus was rejected - as the Warmaster of the Heresy itself, it simply raised too many concerns. Magnus was a strong contender, as his support for the Heresy only followed Leman Russ and the Space Wolves’ attempted destruction of him and his legion for an action that HAD been well intentioned for the defense of the realm. Still, his psychic potential and that of the Thousand Sons gave the High Lords pause, as it came with a strong potential for Warp Corruptions.
Ultimately, Fulgrim was chosen. The Emperor’s Children had once been the glory of the Imperium, the only legion permitted by the Emperor to bear his own standard and his name. They had embodied all that it meant to be a Space Marine. Furthermore, Fulgrim’s corruption, and that of his legion, began on Laer, with the claiming of a Demonically Possessed blade. It was the judgment of the Inquisition many centuries earlier that, absent the corrupting effects of the Greater Daemon of Slaanesh inside the Blade of the Laer, Fulgrim’s fall could have been averted. It was therefore the hope of the High Lords that, absent such outside influences, Fulgrim’s potential descendants might live up to the best of the Emperor’s Children’s legacy while avoiding their ultimate corruption.
The crafting of the chapter was carried out in utmost secrecy, with no less than the vaunted Grey Knights themselves overseeing the security of the initial stages, while observers from the Sisters of Battle and the Ordo Malleus of the Inquisition oversaw the later stages.
The story fed to the Imperium at large was that the new Chapter was of Ultramarines descent. With the amount of existing Ultramarines Successors, it was anticipated that nobody would question or resist one more. This story was also fed to the new chapter, which was initially founded under the name “The Falcons of Calth”.
The Falcons of Calth were soon assigned to the Orders Militant of the Inquisition’s Ordo Hereticus, and often found themselves working alongside the various sisterhoods of the Sisters of Battle. The Falcons of Calth proved their value in every engagement, rising with honor and courage to become highly regarded Marines. Like the Ultramarines they believed to be their parentage, the Falcons of Calth embraced a Combined Arms and Logistics-focused method of warfare, but did so with a certain “knightly flair” that organically developed over the course of their frequent collaborations with the Sisters of Battle. They came to respect and admire the fighting women who were their closest and most frequent allies, and as the Chapter approached their 89th year of service, swore an oath to always defend and support “their cherished ladies”, and it was around this time that the emblem of the Rose first began to become prominent throughout the chapter. From this point on, the Falcons of Calth pursued a more idealized and chivalrous aesthetic and mode of behavior, finding inspiration in surviving tales of the Knightly Orders of Old, comparing them to the various Space Marine chapters in the modern day. Incorporating ancient notions of noble conduct, brotherhood, chivalry, and courtly love into their traditions, the Falcons began to diverge from their supposed Ultramarine sires, which raised some alarm among the Inquisition, who pledged to watch them more closely for signs of heretical leanings.
Ultimately, these leanings failed to manifest, and in the very month prior to the return of Roboute Guilliman, the Falcons of Calth were declared a successful trial run of the High Lords plan to produce emergency backup chapters from unused pre-heresy gene seed stocks. Guilliman’s return torpedoed the project, however. Greatly angered by the audacity of the program, he had it shut down immediately, and it was under these circumstances that the Falcons of Calth learned of their true origin when they sought approval from their “Grandfather” – Guilliman denied them, and in a rare moment of genuine fury, revealed enough that the Inquisition decided that keeping the truth from the chapter was going to become impossible in short order. Under these conditions, the decision was made to reveal the truth.
The Falcons of Calth had heard all about the Horus Heresy, of course. But to discover they were descended from the gene-seed of one of the most infamous traitors in Imperial history… that obviously landed more heavily upon the Falcons. The reveal brought a great clarity to the brothers of the Chapter, as they realized that the Sisters of Battle and the soldiers of the Ordo Hereticus, their most trusted and beloved allies, had been under orders to constantly observe them and report back, and to purge the chapter if necessary.
The Truth was a tipping point, the most vulnerable moment in the chapter’s history. Confronted with near betrayal, but most certainly breached trust and wounded pride, it would be recorded that at no other point was the chapter more at risk of turning traitor. Yet armed with full knowledge of the failures of those who came before them, and the understanding of why they had been made, the Falcons held fast to their loyalty, meeting the truth with flexibility and understanding.
Casting aside the Falcon as their sigil, they embraced the Rose, a symbol they had chosen for themselves, and one more heavily linked to the chivalrous past they sought to emulate. Little over a century after their Founding, the Falcons of Calth were no more, and the Redemptor Roses stood in their place. Sometimes referred to as “Fulgrim’s Faithful” within the Inquisition, the Roses have leaned into their Knightly visage since learning the truth of their origins. Standing by their oath to support the Sisters of Battle, they serve as true companions for the fighting women of the Ecclesiarchy, supporting them in battle, and even engaging in the tradition of courtly love off the battlefield. These self-proclaimed knights have taken it upon themself to be a model of what they believe a Space Marine should be: a consummate soldier, but more than that, a warm and protective image of nobility for the common souls of the Imperium to look up to, aspire to become, and take shelter beneath. Like the Salamanders, they prize defending the common people of the Empire. Like the Ultramarines, they seek professionalism and excellence in their conduct. And like the Blood Angels, they constantly desire to add beauty to the galaxy through art, poetry, music, and philosophy, as well as defend that beauty which already exists.
They withdrew from Calth, returning the world to the control of the Ultramarines and their successors, and established a new home world, one fit for their redemption, Quatora Prime. Located not far from the Realm of Ultramar, Quatora Prime is a world of great extremes: a single arid supercontinent surrounded by a vast, freshwater ocean. Determining this as a place from which they could establish a bastion of those knightly and aesthetic values they prized, they set about transforming a large stretch of the Northeast Coast of the Continent into a slice of a well manicured garden world, with a presently small but thriving population eager to continue the terraforming project. While life outside civilized spaces is greatly dangerous, inside those spaces is a great and rising fiefdom where citizens live in relative comfort and safety compared to the incredible risks that those outside the Garden Zone take on an everyday basis.
The Lord of Quatora Prime, Chapter Master Gautier Boudreaux, is in many ways the apex of his chapter. He is inordinately beautiful to behold, very much resembling Fulgrim in his youth. He is ambitious and eager to prove himself and his Chapter, but also compassionate and wise, and his skill in battle is second to none in his chapter. However, he is also humble, admitting his youth leaves him significant room to improve. Despite Roboute Guilliman’s disapproval, Gautier has maintained close ties with the Ultramarines, and several successor chapters, and often seeks advice and wisdom where he can from older, more experienced warriors, all the better to lead his men down a True Path which might avoid the pitfalls suffered by his fallen brothers in the Emperor’s Children. To that end, he has sought much advice and wisdom from the Blood Angels and their successors, feeling kinship in their struggle with innate flaws in their own essential selves, and their never ending need to manage and control it.
This has given the Redemptor Roses a number of rituals, or “Sacraments”, inspired by Blood Angel rituals meant to combat The Flaw, but in the Redemptor Roses, these Sacraments have been modified, both to make the rituals their own, and because the Roses have come to believe that there was nothing wrong with their gene-seed per se, but rather that the fatal flaw had been with the mindset of the Emperor’s Children. These Sacraments serve to reinforce each Rose’s bond with his oaths, bolstering his faith, and through faith, his loyalty. The Sacraments are administered by Chapter Master Boudreaux and Master of Sanctity Maximilian Clarisseau, with support once again coming from the Adepta Sororitas. Seeing the practical spiritual value in embracing the Imperial Church, the Redemptor Roses have become closely affiliated with the Ecclesiarchy, holding fast to the teachings of the Imperial Creed to enforce spiritual discipline and encourage adherence to their oaths. Furthermore, they hold to the Codex Astartes quite seriously, looking to its rules for wisdom, guidance, and discipline. The Redemptor Roses will reach out and claim with both hands any means to uphold discipline and resist the lure of Chaos.
After several campaigns that included the Battle of the Black Scar, the Siege of Stuxuhr, the Assault of Criod, and the Ambush of Cronecht, Gautier and most of the Chapter chose to undergo the Rubicon Primaris, hoping that such a process would help them better endure any weakness inherited from their “father”. The successful ascendancy of so many of their ranks to Primaris Marines has not significantly changed their battle tactics or methodologies – they remain steadfastly Codex compliant and determined to hold fast to their oaths to the Emperor and “their cherished ladies”, though some slight aesthetic influence from the Third Legion may have slipped in; the Redemptor Roses paint their armor white and purple, with gold trim, and their Chapter standard is a gold-winged rose on a field of dark blue.
The Redemptor Roses finally won Guilliman’s respect and trust during the Indomitus Crusade, at the Second Fall of Cannaey, wherein they confronted their twisted “brothers” from the Emperor’s Children on the field of battle at long last. Whatever hope the Roses might have secretly held that the tales of the Third Legion’s debaucheries and hideous hedonism were exaggerations, or that there existed a chance that their brothers might be redeemed did not survive first contact. Confronted with the warped visages and mutated forms of those who shared in their bloodline, the Roses reacted with pure disgust, and charged forth with a fury that shocked even the most veteran soldiers of the Emperor’s Children. At Cannaey, some 200 Redemptor Roses stood against three times their number from the Emperor’s Children, but charged with righteous fury and aglow with the Emperor’s fire in their eyes, they tore through the traitor ranks, slaughtering their traitor kin to a man like they were putting down rabid animals, and while they could not save Cannaey, they managed to rescue the civilians the Emperor’s Children had kidnapped to use as slaves and outlets for their unspeakable desires, escorting them to safety with the Sisters Hospitallers, though whether these civilians could ever fully recover from their ordeal was a question the Roses were not fit to answer – being themselves unsure they could ever fully come to terms with what their treasonous brothers had become.
Cannaey did more than earn the Redemptor Roses the trust and respect of the Imperial Regent. It also served as their full initiation into the galaxy, their first true glimpse at the horrors that awaited mankind in a hostile universe, and the depths to which such madness could drive even the mighty post-human warriors of the Adeptus Astartes. Their resolve tested, tempered, and ultimately hardened like the strongest steel, the Roses declared they would be the loyal sons the Third Legion had failed to be. Where the Emperor’s Children fell into corruption, the Redemptor Roses would rise in fraternity, loyalty, and glory. They would keep the Imperium safe from the perverse seductions of Slaanesh, stamping out its influence wherever, whenever, they encountered it.
Furthermore, while not actually Ultramarines, the Roses came to the defense of Ultramar during the Plague Wars, honoring ties that, while they may have begun as a lie by the High Lords of Terra, have grown genuine indeed, with the Redemptor Roses counting the line of Guilliman as dearer brothers than they would ever consider their actual kin.
From their new home world of Quatora Prime, the Redemptor Roses are knights overseeing a glittering kingdom, a world of beauty and art. They have risen from the din and grunge of traitorous gene-seeds to become cultured aesthetes and philosophers who invoke ancient traditions of nobility, chivalry, and virtue, and they hold fast to Imperial truths, and with the full knowledge of their treacherous origins, hold faster still to the friends and allies they have made – be it the Chambers Militant of the Inquisition, the Sisters of Battle, the Ultramarines and their descendants, or the Blood Angels and their myriad successors. The Roses see a universe of horrors, and are dedicated to not just rooting out corruption and deformity, but also preserving that which is still beautiful and good within it, while struggling to add further beauty and goodness back in. While the arrival of the Primaris Marines and Unnumbered Sons solved the very problem they were created to address, leaving them as a unique chapter that stands alone in their origin, they have shown the galaxy that the Sins of the Father remain with the Father; they do NOT pass to his sons. Whatever those who came before them might have become, the Redemptor Roses are determined to avoid the Fall, and have become the very image of the best of the Space Marines.
Call them the Falcons of Calth, Fulgrim’s Faithful, or Redemptor Roses… just don’t call them traitors, for none stand more loyal to the Emperor and his realm than the Redemptor Roses. They see a great future ahead for the Empire, and marshal towards it with their battle cry:
“Porro! Aurea enim via praecedit!”
“Onwards! For the Golden Way is ahead!”

Can you point or link us to where we can read or learn more about the alt heresy in the previous ask?
....
I did not tag it like an idiot.
But in summery....
Sang was Warmaster, he had a mix of loyal and traitor Primarchs on his side.
Opposing him was Konrad, Perturabo, Mortarion, Angron, Fulgrim, Roboute, Horus... And I can not remember who else.
Magnus was out. (Not dead, The Lion went to Prospero, threw a stasis bomb at him, so Magnus was trapped in time for 10,000 years.)

Conversation
Ullanor, early 041.M31
Horus: Brothers, I have recovered from my injuries, and forces are gathered, the seas of Terra shall boil and the stars fall, Mortairon reports that the first ring of Dorn’s defenses at Pluto have fallen an… what’s wrong with Fulgrim?
Fulgrim: I obey only Lorgar…
Lorgar: I have no idea what you mean.
Horus: Why is he staring at me with glassy eyes and sharpening the Primarch-killing anatame I gave him?
Fulgrim: Must… kill.. Warmaster… for Lorgar…
Lorgar: That’s probably normal.
Horus: Okay, second and possibly more significant question, why is he a snake?
Perturabo: He always looked that way I'm pretty sure.
Horus: Really? He always had no legs and six arms?
Perturabo: Yes.
Horus: Okay… fine… glossing swiftly over that… we have like three people missing. Where’s Curze?
Perturabo: AWOL.
Horus: What do you mean AWOL? Whose commanding his legion?!
Perturabo: Nobody. Like, half of them showed up if that and they all seem to hate each other.
Horus: Fucking… Well then, where’s Alpharius?
Lorgar: He sent a note.
Horus: What.
Lorgar: It says “Good luck bitches, I’m out.”
Horus: …what about Angron? Perturabo, Malhogurst specifically told you to make sure Angron would be here.
Perturabo: He’s here.
Horus: ….where?
Perturabo: In this box.
Box: *Muffled swearing and screams for vengeance upon the unjust universe*
Horus: Well... can you let him out?
Box: *Sounds of gnashing teeth and chainsaw revving*
Perturabo: …honestly, I would not recommend it.
Horus: ……it’s fine. This is fine. We can still win this. I still have Mortarion, he's still reliable…
Abbadon: Sir, message from the Death Guard… I couldn’t hear much over the flies buzzing and the screaming, but I think they’re calling in sick.
Horus: FUCK
Horus: Why are group projects always like this?

HORUS HERESY #3: GALAXY IN FLAMES
Galaxy In Flames by Ben Counter is the third book in the Horus Heresy series and the conclusion of the first trilogy of The Horus Heresy. With this, we reach the end of the first arc of the Horus Heresy. The story began with Horus Rising and continued with False Gods, and now settles with Galaxy in Flames as the Heresy finally commences. Horus has been corrupted by the powers of Chaos, thanks to the manipulations of Erebus through a ritual to save Horus from a grave injury received in False Gods. After recovering, Horus plans his rebellion against the Emperor, but first, he must purge all forces loyal to the God-Emperor. Therefore, Horus decides to set a trap for those who will not follow him on his crusade. The plan involves gathering four of the Space Marine Legions in the Istvaan system, under the pretext of pacifying an uprising, and thus eliminating those unworthy of the four Legions. And so, the Heresy begins, with Horus' Legion joining forces with the World Eaters, Emperor's Children, and Death Guard, all of whom now owe loyalty to Horus above the Emperor; whom they consider a liar who has abandoned them to fight alone in the Great Crusade. However, within Horus' own Legion, a new cult emerges, the Lectitio Divinitatus, which worships the Emperor as a god and ultimately represents the Imperium's last hope to face this threat.
The story begins with the Moderati Primus, Titus Cassar, recounting that he was there the day Horus betrayed the Emperor. Which is very strange because in the end, Titus Cassar dies, but anyway... He only says this at a meeting of his secret lodge before dispersing when they're discovered.... On the surface of Isstvan III, the forces of the Legions gather by order of Horus and begin their attack against the rebel forces of the planet. The formations are made to separate Horus' allies from those loyal to the Emperor. Therefore, when the battle ends and the revolutionary forces of the planet are defeated, Horus' betrayal begins... The Warmaster receives support from the primarchs Angron, Mortarion, and Fulgrim of the World Eaters, Death Guard, and Emperor's Children in exterminating the forces loyal to the Emperor. Saul Tarvitz of the Emperor's Children realizes the betrayal and manages to warn everyone to hide in bunkers when Horus orders the planet to be bombed with bombs that can destroy and burn everything in their path... Additionally, we have a group of characters formed when Horus attempts to end the burgeoning religion by killing its saint, Euphrati Keeler, who is rescued by Kyril Sindermann, Jonah Aruken, and Titus Cassar... Finally, the group (except for Aruken and Titus Cassar, who have a fight when the bombing occurs which ends with Aruken betraying and killing Cassar), along with Mersadie Oliton and Captain Iacton Qruze, receive help from Tarvitz and manage to board a ship piloted by an ally, Nathaniel Garro of the Death Guard, taking news of Horus' betrayal and what happened on Isstvan to the Emperor on Terra.
The battle on Isstvan III continues between the loyal Marines and the traitors. Horus wants to bombard the world again and settle the matter, but one of the Primarchs, Angron, leads his forces against the loyal forces; forcing Horus to send his own forces to finish the combat in a ground confrontation. Tarvitz, Loken, and Torgaddon organize a fierce resistance and manage to repel the traitor forces, but are betrayed by Lucius of the Emperor's Children. Tarvitz confronts Lucius, who is known as "the greatest swordsman in the entire legion, perhaps even of all legions." Tarvitz cannot defeat Lucius, but he does manage to make him retreat and escape... Meanwhile, Loken and Trogaddon encounter and duel Aximand and Abaddon. Aximand manages to defeat Trogaddon and decapitate him, but this generates some conflict within him... The traitors manage to overcome Loken, but when they are about to kill him, the ship Dies Irae arrives and collapses the building where they were. Aximand and Abaddon are alive and trapped under the rubble and leave believing Loken is dead... Loken is still alive and watches as Horus launches another definitive bombardment to ensure that no one survives... Tarvitz and the remaining Space Marines from the Legions also watch the bombardment and they have nothing left but to rejoice for the battle they gave before dying...
With the resistance destroyed, Horus withdraws his troops and plans his next move. They now face seven legions coming to destroy them, so the Warmaster plans another ambush, this time on Isstvan V. Aximand, still in conflict after killing Trogaddon and his other brothers, asks what they will do after Isstvan V. To which Horus assures that once they destroy the Emperor's legions on Isstvan V, they will attack Terra.

Across Terra, every person looking at the sky could see it: a burning wound across the night, or a scar of midnight in the daylight. Through it came ships from the realm beyond, dragging cloaks of insects and shadow. Winged creatures circled them, flying like birds in the gale of etheric energy. Bolts of lightning leapt from the wound, strobing across space. And here were the vessels that had been absent from the weeks of war already waged. Here was the Conqueror, its white hull red with smoking gore. Here were the ships of the World Eaters, their murder cries echoing from the vox, and the voice of every legionary. Angron stood on the hull of his capital ship, a vast and ragged shadow axe raised to the sunlight, roaring his fury at the circle of Terra. There were the ships of the Emperor’s Children, fuming musk and grey dust from jewel-crusted hulls. In the guts of the Pride of the Emperor, Fulgrim coiled and looked out through the eyes of every soul in his fleet, and laughed with delight. And there – following the rest, like the chariot of a king come in triumph – came the Vengeful Spirit. Warships flanked it. Daemons flew as its heralds. High on its hull, on the fortress that it bore upon its back, Horus, Warmaster, First Son of the Emperor, Chosen Champion of the Dark Gods, looked out at Terra. The seat of his father’s empire glimmered beyond the prow of his ship. Shadow bled from him, and the daemons that held to the shadows of his court hissed and bowed their heads as the light of the sun touched his face. The ships poured from the rift, spreading out in a swarm of glinting lights. A hundred, a thousand, ten times a thousand, more and more Now they swam from the warp into the gulfs of the inner system, not an army or a fleet, but a host sent by the will of gods and the art of mortals. The ships clustered and divided as their engines caught on the cold vacuum and turned them towards Mars and Luna and the small orb of Terra all alone in the dark.
Horus watched, and then gave a single nod. ‘Begin,’ he said.
