I can't stand seeing strays anymore. I am immediately stricken by intense fear of them getting run over, especially in front of me. There was a random skinny scarred pit bull puppy that joined us on our walk tonight. I was scared at first because i thought it would be mean, and Stoli is already struggling with some fear reactivity after some less than ideal interactions with dogs in our neighborhood. The puppy thankfully was friendly, Stoli was still scared of it but tolerated it after some barking and freaking out. Bubbles just didn't care lol.

Anyway the puppy followed us for over a mile. It wouldn't let me touch it. It was coughing and hacking and getting in my dogs face so I was concerned. I also was scared to cross back over the busy street that Layla was killed on because what if the puppy followed and somehow got hit? I feel like shit for this but I called my spouse to come pick us up, we were over a mile away from home and the puppy wouldn't go away but also wouldn't let me touch it. I don't know if it even was someone's pet, it looked awful and had a scar over the shoulder and walked with a limp. No collar either. I put my dogs in the car and drove home. I can't save every dog and I was scared of risking my dog's health, but my god does it hurt leaving that baby. I posted pics of him on NextDoor, I hope he will be okay. I can't stop choking up and having intense waves of anxiety. That poor puppy.
